Grand Star (2007) s01e13 Episode Script

Chapter XIII

(Multicom Jingle)
- [Narrator] Previously on "Grand Star".
- Oh.
- I will make
good cabaret girls out of them.
- No, we're moving out of this dump.
- But--
- But nothing.
- What?
- You heard me.
- Please, you can't go.
- [Suki] Then promise me you'll never
stop trying to save the world.
That's what I loved the best in you.
- Never seen you around.
Where are you from?
- [Jonah] I'm running from the Pointsmen.
- That was the right answer.
- This is my dad we're talking about.
If they find him, they're
gonna destroy him.
Cal!
Man, I'm asking you for help here
and you're not even listening.
- There are two girls, they're orphans.
If they find a home, Suki will stay.
And that's what you want, isn't it?
- [Damien] I'm starting
to like the way you think.
- Look, Damien, I hate you.
But I love Suki more than I hate you.
(thrilling music)
(ice crackling)
(somber music)
- Do really think you're
going to find the sun
staring at me like that all day?
- Well, I'm finding some kind of sun.
You know, we can do things.
- Yeah?
Like what?
Sit around?
- We can sit.
Or lie.
I mean, you even said it
was pretty comfortable.
- Yep, yep, that couch
is real comfortable.
Cal, I'm not sure I want to.
- Why not?
You never done it?
- Cal, I have.
But things happen, you
know, like to the heart.
- Mm-hmm.
- Like, well, you get real
attached, real fragile.
And then your friend
doesn't always see it.
- Well, I'm not like that, am I?
- No, but people change.
Have you ever--
- Me?
Yeah, yeah.
- Uh-huh?
- Well.
Well, actually, I had
this lady friend once
and we never really got that far.
Uh, we just didn't really wanna do it.
- You know what?
Cal, I gotta move.
I gotta move.
I got places to see, people
to meet, things to do.
See you later.
- Wait.
Wait, see me, see me now.
(electronic music)
- Jonah, Jonah.
- Suki.
(both laughing)
How you been?
- Good, good, good.
I left the cabaret.
- What?
They let you go?
- Yeah, I'm free.
- That's great.
I'm proud of you.
Come, come.
I want to show you where I live.
Come with me.
Let's go.
There are people who live here full-time.
And there's a group of us.
Sometimes we're here, sometimes we're not.
Margot.
I brought a friend for you.
- What's your name?
- It's Suki.
- What are you doing here?
- Jumped train.
I was a cabaret acrobat.
- You're on the run?
I was too.
I ended up here.
I like it here.
We can do things.
- Like what?
- She's okay.
- We gotta go.
Coming?
- Where to?
- Come, you'll see, it's fun.
- You run fast?
- Is it dangerous?
- Sometimes.
Let's do it.
Okay.
Let's go.
(thrilling music)
- Let's go.
Go.
(tense music)
(thrilling music)
- That's the only possibility left.
Cal, you gotta help me here.
Cal!
- Huh?
(thrilling music)
- [Suki] Guys, isn't this area restricted?
- [Margot] Come on.
- What's that?
- Power grid.
- What are you gonna do,
a blackout?
- You got it.
- Well, that's crazy.
- Just so some of our friends
can take some stuff we need.
- Look, I'm sorry, I'm out of here.
- Sh.
- Well, you should've
told me what you guys were up to.
- Shut up.
(tense music)
Keep watch.
- Jonah.
Jonah.
- Suki, please, later, later.
Relax, it's okay.
(tense music)
(door creaking)
(people shouting)
- [Pointsman] Stand back.
(generators whirring)
- [Jonah] With the power cut,
we can access the food
without any trouble.
- Look, if you don't like
what we do here, you can go.
We're free people, we don't force anyone
to do anything they don't wanna do.
We just feel that this world
needs a little redistribution.
- Look, you know what, it's
all fine, it's all fine.
I just, I like to be given
the choice, that's all.
(Margot snaps fingers)
Catch you later.
- Okay.
- Where were you?
- Around the city, met some people, why?
- Because I was worried.
I mean, there was a blackout and, and
I should probably know where
you are most of the time, no?
- Hey, what is this?
What, do I have hours
here like at the cabaret?
- No, of course not.
- It sure sounds like it.
- Come here, come here, come here.
- Cal, I'm tired, I just wanna freshen up.
- Okay, freshen up.
Eat, sleep, I mean,
this place is all yours.
- I don't have to be here.
I met this guy who was
convinced the sun still exists.
He was going to find a way
to prove it to everybody.
And now--
- I mean, it's not that easy.
Damien's in control, Palidor's in control.
I have no idea what my father's up to.
- Yeah, well now I just feel stuck
with this guy who just
wants to control me.
- Something changed.
What's happening?
- I don't know.
Maybe it's because I'm free
and I need to do something
with that freedom.
See you later.
- [Jonah] Yeah.
Here.
Hey, Suki, you're back.
- Yes, I'm back.
- Look.
- [Suki] Are we ready for another mission?
- [Jonah] Yes, but first we eat.
- You making dinner?
- Of course.
(upbeat music)
- Hey.
I thought Suki was gonna
move in for awhile.
- Yeah, me too.
- So?
- Well, now she's free.
- Well, that seems normal.
I mean, how do you know if you're free
if you can't experiment with your freedom?
- Wow.
- What?
- I mean, you're the one saying that?
- Hey listen, I've had a
grueling day on the ice.
I need a bit of love and
respect in my own locomotive.
I got a council meeting.
- Hm, new station.
- Top security.
- I gotta go, Dad.
- It's good to be back.
(tense music)
(rhythmic music)
- [Damien] Thank you.
Well, Cal, what do I owe
this unexpected pleasure?
- Where is she?
Is she with you?
- I thought she was with you.
- Oh.
- But I'll have my people look for her.
- No, no no, don't, don't.
- Oh, is that an order, President Ragg?
(chuckles)
Yes, well I'd love to sit and chat,
but I have a report to finish.
Thank you, goodbye.
- Are they trying to create a great panic?
The Renewers of the Sun.
These power cuts to let them in?
- Has it been substantiated
that these acts
have been carried out by
people outside Grand Star?
- Oh yes, there is
disloyalty within our midst.
But it's petty.
Pathetic.
Pitiful.
Lieutenant Damien, the floor is all yours.
- Thank you, Mr. President.
There have been indeed
signs of Renewal activity,
particularly in the vicinity
of Grand Star Station.
However, this has spurred
us to redeploy our patrols
and to set up a new system of security.
This--
- Is it worthwhile
to invest in such a venture
when we're now getting ready
for the exodus?
- Worthwhile, Cleary?
It's absolutely essential.
The exodus must be carried
out in peace and quiet.
(sighs)
Lieutenant Damien, please continue
with your security briefing.
- They've added security.
Won't work.
- We'll just have to distract them somehow
and create some kind of diversion.
I can do it, trust me.
- Uh-uh, come on.
It's too dangerous, we've
gotta find another way.
- Come.
(rhythmic music)
- [Suki] How did you find me?
- Credits.
People talk.
So how are you doing, Suki?
- Busy.
- Doing what?
- Cal, you gotta hear this.
We have this plan, see?
- So you're planning on staying, uh, here?
- Yeah, here.
You wanna hear it or what?
- Uh, yeah, sure, go ahead.
- Okay.
We wanna divert power from
the grid over to down here
so that we can get heat and light.
- Uh-huh.
- Except I'm not sure
that we can pull it off.
It's guarded.
We're just gonna have
to draw the Pointsmen away or something.
- Suki, stop this nonsense.
What are you doing down here?
- It's a better place
for me to stay right now.
- Than up top in the Pacific with me?
- It's how I feel, Cal.
Cal, what are you doing?
I can't believe you just did that.
- Suki.
- [Kurt] What were you thinking?
- I don't know.
I wanted to talk to her
and she wasn't listening.
I just really want her back, Kurt.
It's like, it's like I'm--
- Addicted?
- Yeah.
Yeah, I guess.
Do you know what I mean though?
- Yeah, sure.
I, I
Not exactly, but once--
- Stupid, stupid.
- Hey.
Chill out.
Go back, go down there, and apologize.
- No.
No, that's not what I need to do.
- Great conversationalist, that guy.
- [Cal] Gola, I need your help.
- [Gola] What is it, Cal?
- [Cal] Someone I know is
doing something dangerous.
- [Gola] And is it your
friend, the young woman?
- [Cal] Yeah, it's her.
- [Gola] What can I do
for you and for her?
- [Cal] I need you to create a diversion
big enough to draw the Pointsmen outside,
away from what my friend is trying to do.
- [Gola] We can do that.
Come back when you're ready, I'll be here.
- Ever since the construction of our dome,
we have not lived such
a period of disruption.
And I hear you say is
the dome falling apart?
And I say no.
No.
No.
And even if it was, we are moving on.
We are moving into a great
new chapter in our history.
We are moving to the new station.
Well?
- Inspiring, sir.
Really, quite inspiring.
- [Palidor] Really?
- Very much so, sir.
- Then I'd better change it.
It wasn't made for people like you.
I better change it right away.
Out, out, out, out, out.
(electronic music)
- [Jonah] I guess you're looking for Suki.
- [Cal] Yeah, where is she?
- They're all gone.
They don't wanna take me.
Too dangerous.
- [Cal] See you later, Jonah.
Gola, Gola, where are you?
- [Gola] Cal.
I'm here.
- [Cal] Yes, but there's no time.
We have to do it right now.
My friend is in danger.
- [Gola] But my team isn't here.
I can't do it alone.
I guess I need you.
Better get your thermal gear, Cal.
(thrilling music)
We can create a diversion
by disrupting Grand Star's
main security system which
is right over that ridge.
But we need to find a way
around those Pointsmen guarding it.
- [Cal] We don't have time for that.
We have to do it now.
- [Gola] So what do we do?
- [Cal] I have an idea.
(guns whirring)
(thrilling music)
Come on, Cal, concentrate.
Concentrate.
(flashlight clicks)
(gun whirs)
- [Gola] That's it, Cal, you're doing it.
- [Cal] Positive, negative,
positive, negative.
Positive, negative, positive, negative.
Cross the wires, cross the wires.
Positive, negative, positive, negative.
Cross the wire, cross the wires.
(explosion booms)
- [Gola] You did it, Cal.
We must go, the Pointsmen will come.
- [Margot] Suki, we got to take off.
- Bingo.
This, over there.
- Come on, hurry up.
Move move move move move move.
(people shouting)
- Move out of the way.
- Get out of here.
Stand back, men.
- That was fun.
- Yeah, dangerous fun.
- Let's do more.
Oh, there must be so much more we can do.
- Miss your boyfriend?
(tense music)
- Cal.
How do you like our heat wave?
- Yours?
- Yeah.
We broke into the power grid.
- Suki rerouted the energy lines,
enough to give this
neighborhood a little boost.
- Don't you guys think you're attracting
just a little attention to yourselves?
- Hm, the Pointsmen gotta know
that not everybody is scared of them.
- The best thing is we drain
power from District Four
and even Five.
- What's District Five?
- Palidor's palace.
- I don't care where you
divert the electricity from,
I want heat.
I want it now.
(whimsical music)
- Oh, there's so many things we can do.
- Yeah?
- We just have to--
- Do things.
- Cal, we pulled it off.
And the alarms went off.
The Pointsmen left.
- Wow.
That's fantastic.
How did you guys manage to do that?
- Did we use some of our special powers?
- Hey, I would never
abuse my special gifts.
- I heard that when people
used to bask on the beaches,
they would cover their skin
with lotion to protect themselves.
Smelled of coconuts.
What is that?
- I don't know.
But I do know that you
don't need coconuts.
- But we need the sun.
