[narrator] Macross 7
is an emigration fleet consisting of over
a million military and civilian personnel.
It set out across the galaxy
to find a habitable planet.
But an attack by a mysterious enemy
has caused City 7, with all its citizens
inside, to be separated from the fleet.
Slums, an unregistered area
attached to City 7 like a parasite,
is adrift with the city as well.
Living in Slums is a rock singer
named Basara Nekki.
Naturally, he isn't a registered citizen.
It would've been fine
if he just sang at gigs,
but he's a trouble-maker
who likes to fly into battles and sing.
He sings to test himself.
He risks his life in a struggle to fulfill
a grandiose dream,
but unfortunately,
neither friend nor foe understand him.
Even so, he sings on
because Basara Nekki never gives up.
[Gigil cackles, bellows]
Not so fast! I won't let you
lay a finger on Miss Mylene!
[grunts] Gamlin Kick!
[grunts]
Miss Mylene, are you all right?
Oh, Gamlin, you're the only one
I can count on.
