Moomin (1990) s01e19 Episode Script
Buried in a Jungle
Moomin
Even you, who always
tries to keep strong, -
will have moments when
you need to shed tears.
In those moments, just
cry your heart out, -
and then you will find that the
sadness quickly disappears.
Come, come here to where I am.
Come and hold out your
little hand to me.
I shall take you to
the world of dreams.
As long as you have an
honest heart, all is well.
Moominvalley is a Jungle
Moomin and his friends
planted the tropical -
seeds they found
floating in the sea.
They were surprised to
find that a jungle has -
grown around the house
in just one night.
Unusual flowers and
trees grew everywhere,
including even
man-eating plants.
Snufkin, why did you stop
playing the harmonica?
The man-eating plants are
going to attack us again!
Their characteristics might have
changed after hearing music.
Snufkin could be right. They
might not attack us anymore.
Mr. Hemulen, it's dangerous!
It'll be fine.
Be careful, Mr. Hemulen!
Mr. Hemulen!
It seems they haven't
changed after all, Snufkin!
Pappa, we need to place something heavy
on top of the kitchen trap door.
Yes, I know.
Moomin, what are you talking about?
Snufkin is going to lead
the man-eating plants -
into the basement so that
we can trap them there.
Here they come.
I feel sorry for them.
We'll be feeling sorry we got
eaten if we let them out though.
No choice but to keep them there.
I feel somewhat anxious
knowing that there are -
man-eating plants beneath
our floors right now.
If one can sleep soundly despite this,
that would be a mark of true courage.
Moomin and his friends are
playing in the jungle.
It's nice that the kids have
a curious new playground, -
but I believe we shouldn't have
planted those seeds, after all.
It's a miracle that
you were able to grow -
any tropical plants in
Moominvalley at all.
At any rate, this is a
once-in-a-lifetime chance -
for me to collect some
rare plant samples.
I'm truly grateful, Mamma.
Well, the cool atmosphere that comes
with all these trees is very welcome
But those man-eating plants aren't.
You're so cool, Moomin!
Floren, pretty.
Why, thank you.
Stinky's here.
Stinky?
Well, then. I believe this Forest
Prince should go teach him a lesson.
Ow, ouch.
What's so fun about playing Tarzan
without any wild beasts around?
Wild beasts? There's no
way there'll be any here.
Of course there's a way!
In fact, it'll be my
pleasure to bring you some.
Seriously?
I'm very generous, you know.
Right, of course.
Let's see It would be nice if
the beasts aren't too ferocious.
For instance, young
chimpanzees and the like!
Those don't count as wild beasts.
And this one too.
What are you doing?
Oh. Tonight, Pappa and I will be
staying at the little seaside cottage.
I don't think I'll be able
to sleep in this house.
I'll be sleeping outside too.
I made us a nice little hut.
Will Floren be staying with you?
Yes.
My said she'll be staying with us too.
Oh, yes.
Mr. Hemulen will be
staying in this house.
He says he wants to keep on
collecting more plant samples.
Mamma, are you ready to leave?
Yes, we can go now.
Are you leaving already?
Yes. We'll be leaving the
house in your care, then.
Thanks for letting me stay.
Stinky said he's going to bring
us some tropical animals.
What animals?
Wild beasts.
Is that even possible?
It's probably just another
one of his tricks.
Look. It's over there.
Well, well. What a fine
little hut you have there.
I'm telling you, it's
a really great place!
I'm sure it looks just
like your real home.
If you're lying, I'm going
to season and eat you.
Why in the world should I lie?
And, done!
Hurrah!
Freedom! Freedom at last!
Darling, let's hurry up and go to this
Moominvalley.
At this rate, I could
very well become the -
number one plant sample
collector in the world.
Yes! The world's number one!
Yet another new species!
Oh, it was an animal.
Look, Moomin!
Could those be the
animals Stinky brought?
Well, that's a surprise.
I didn't think he'd actually
bring what I requested.
They look really cute.
Yes, as long as they
don't pull any tricks.
Did you hear that?
Yes.
That Stinky.
He probably did really bring
us some real wild beasts.
I'm scared.
It's small, but as he said, it
does look just like our home.
I guess he wasn't lying then.
And there we shall find a tasty Moomin.
Don't be too eager, its
unbecoming of a tiger.
This is bad!
So?
There's nothing outside.
It's alright. The
beasts won't come here.
Are you sure?
Moomin!
We have a big problem!
My!
You need to run for your life.
There are tigers coming to eat you.
Tigers?!
Let's go to your house!
No! The tigers are headed that way.
In that case, let's go
to the seaside cottage.
That's not Moomin, is it?
We'll get poisoned if we eat that
old and wrinkly plant addict.
I wonder where Moomin is.
Oh?
Oh, more animals.
Pappa!
Pappa! Help us!
What's going on?
There seems to be some
tigers out there to eat me.
Tigers out to eat you?
Stinky must've told those tigers
that I would make a tasty meal.
That ball of fur.
The tigers could get
here any instant now.
Alright. Let's set up a trap.
Moomin! Go and get me a big rock.
Right.
Over here.
Pappa, is this big enough?
Yes. That's perfect.
Now, both of you hurry up
and go to the sea cottage.
They're coming.
Darling, are you really
going to eat him?
Of course.
I'm absolutely sure he's
hiding in that sea cottage.
It's too quiet though.
I can't believe he would just quietly
sit about and wait for you to eat him.
He's probably just sitting in
a corner, trembling in fear.
What's this? A rock?
Darling!
It worked, Pappa!
Yes, it went miraculously well!
My darling is going to drown!
Oh, poor dear.
Pappa, why don't you go and rescue him?
But he was trying to eat Moomin
He won't do that anymore.
I suppose I have no choice.
Moomin.
Yes.
Darling!
Don't worry, he's just out cold.
That aside, he's amazingly heavy.
Here. Tie this rope to the
tiger and let's pull him up.
Great idea as always, Mamma.
Hey, Honey.
Are you alright, Darling?
What happened to me?
Moomin and his father rescued you.
How pathetic
Moomin and the others are in
that sea cottage right now.
I'm sure you can break through
that front door in a cinch.
I've completely lost my appetite.
In that case then, come here.
Alright. I'm going to jump.
What's the matter? Can't you jump?
I think my body has grown weak from
all that time I've spent in the zoo.
I guess you'll just
have to swim to shore.
I guess.
Hey, the tigers are going somewhere.
Thank heavens he's alright.
It seems to me those tigers have
abandoned their plans of eating us.
We should also jump from here
and get ourselves to shore.
Alright! I'll go first!
Hey! That's unfair! Me first!
Wait, My!
Moomin, look out!
Over there!
Crocodiles!
Moomin! Hurry and climb the stairs
at the back of the cottage!
Here.
Can crocodiles survive in the sea?
This is bad.
Now we won't be able to
leave this sea cottage.
I guess we have no choice but
to wait for a boat to pass by.
We'll probably be stuck here
for three to four days.
Or perhaps even a week.
A week?!
No way I can stay in such a
cramped place for a whole week!
We have no choice.
Not a lot of boats pass by this area.
Good day.
Snufkin! What are you doing here?
I was thinking of doing
some saltwater fishing.
I gave it up though.
It seems to me I might catch
some unwanted creatures today.
Hey! Anybody!
Anyone! Help me!
It's Mr. Hemulen!
Could those tigers be attacking Mr.
Hemulen?
Why are you so angry?
I merely expressed my disappointment
at your being an animal!
Somebody help!!
He's really one clumsy fellow.
There's nothing we can do about it.
Yes.
Mr. Hemulen, are you alright?
Yes, yes. I'm fine.
This is a problem, though.
I wonder what's
usually done when a -
rhinoceros jams its
horn on your veranda.
It looks to me like there's
no other way to get -
him out but to cut out
the plank with a saw.
It looks that way to me too.
Tinky, tinky. Stinky! A-tinky tinky.
Stinky!
Tinky, tinky. Tink, tin-ky. Tinky!
Tinky, tinky.
Hey! Don't scare me like that!
You. You brought those
animals here, didn't you?
I told you I would, didn't I?
So? This feels more like a real
jungle, don't you think so?
Well, I don't know about that.
The tigers and the rhinoceros
have become Mamma's pets.
What?
We're now one big family.
You brought over some very nice beasts.
Hey! Where are you? Show yourself!
What is it?
The tigers and the rhinoceros have
been reduced to the Moomins' pets!
You're not like them, are you?
Of course not!
I'm going to bring Moomin
and Floren here at sunset.
If you don't want to
eat them, at least -
give them a scare by
biting their tails!
Got it.
I was really surprised.
That water lily was
so big, I don't think -
it would sink even
people sat on it!
It's probably a tropical plant as well.
I suppose so.
But I'm sure it didn't grow from
any of the seeds you planted.
I want to see it!
For some reason this
area here is filled with -
tropical plants just like
the ones around your house.
And? Where's the water lily?
We'll get there.
Let's see
Over there.
Wow.
It's beautiful!
I'd be glad if you lot
would finally realize -
that I'm honest more
often than I'm not.
How relaxing.
What a wonderful scent!
A flower boat is just the
most romantic thing!
How strange. I wonder why this area
is filled with tropical plants.
These mangroves are amazing.
Right, Stinky?
Stinky!
Where could he have gone?
This flower is floating rather fast.
And it's become quite dark.
Hold it!
Wait!
Paddle quickly!
Where to?
I don't know!
To the sea!
But there were crocodiles in the
sea earlier. What do we do?
Look, Floren!
It's a ship!
We'll have to reach that ship
before the crocodiles notice us.
Where are they? Where?
Hang in there, Floren. Just a bit more.
Stop right there!!
Moomin and Floren swam for their lives.
It looks as if they'll be able
to escape the monstrous snake.
But then, who could be on the ship
they are now swimming towards?
The animals are frightened.
The people from the zoo have
begun to infiltrate the jungle.
Don't worry. I promise I'll
protect every one of you.
