Thunderbirds Are Go! (2015) s01e19 Episode Script

Extraction

Five, four, three, two, one! Look at her go! Just like the real Thunderbird 3.
I guess so, son.
You're the expert on International Rescue.
Yeah.
I searched every picture there is, but I still don't get how the pilot sits in it.
Come on, Aidan.
It's late.
Last rescue for the day.
Ohhhh! - Whoa! What's that, Dad? - That's a sonic injection platform.
See, energy poachers use these to steal hydromethane from underground.
Right! We need to work out how to turn it off.
Careful.
It must be fully automated.
I'd better call this in.
Er Aidan, do you see a comm switch? - Here it is.
- Thanks.
- Department of Energy.
- 'Operations.
' Hello.
My name is Robert Williams.
I'm the warden of Dunsley Fields.
I've just discovered an illegal hydromethane extractor.
- 'Can you hold, please?' - Yeah, I'll hold.
The actuator! It's starting to pump! Whoa! The ground's giving way! We have to get out of here! Dad? Five.
Four.
Three.
Two.
One.
Thunderbirds Are Go! 'Hello.
My name is Robert Williams.
I'm the warden of Dunsley Fields.
' 'I've just discovered an illegal hydromethane extractor.
' 'Yeah, I'll hold.
' That's all there is, guys.
Kinda weird.
That's setting the bar a little low for weird, John.
This Williams guy was reporting some shady goings-on, got put on hold, lost his nerve, hung up.
Gordon, the call came on an ID blank comm from Dunsley Fields right before we detected an earthquake.
- So the comm belonged to the bad guys? - OK, it's a little weird.
Check out these satellite pics.
What do you make of it, Brains? It appears to be a sonic injection p-platform.
And not a particularly well-engineered one, at that.
Right, Brains.
But just a minute later it looked like this.
The control section's sheered c-clean off.
So, some greedy crooks left a machine to suck up hydromethane and now it's trashed - looks like the problem took care of itself.
Not necessarily, Virgil.
The call likely came from the control section.
And if Mr Williams was inside Exactly.
We may have a situation.
- Dad! - I'm I'm all right.
That was a bit of a fall, wasn't it? Watch out.
- Your leg! - I think it's broken.
- Dad? - There's something on top of us.
Maybe loose boulders Or the rest of the platform! See if the comm works.
Mayday! Mayday! No answer.
I've run through dozens of reports about these machines.
Turns out the hydromethane gas energy poachers extract with them is worth a fortune on the black market.
And scans show that ocean water has started flooding into the caverns below.
Any more of this, and Dunsley Fields could become a huge sinkhole.
That wasn't an earthquake we detected.
It was a cave-in.
OK, I'll fly over with Gordon and see what we can see.
And where do you think you're going, Max? You're on cleaning duty, remember? Five, four, three, two, one.
Thunderbirds are go! - Impressive! - Thanks.
It's just a shame you had to use part of your rocket.
It doesn't matter.
We need a radio.
Mayday, Mayday, Mayday.
No answer.
It hasn't got enough range.
Something up there moved.
There must be tons of earth on top of us.
Mayday, Mayday, Mayday! - Aidan! - Argh! And remember - hydromethane is extremely f-flammable, at any concentration.
- Understood.
We'll be careful.
- Approaching now.
Let's get a closer look at this thing.
- Would you look at that! - Brains, are you getting this? Seismic readings b-below ground show that the actuator is still active.
- You need to shut it down.
- Agreed.
But first things first - we need to look for survivors.
Wherever that control section is, it's buried now.
The area's full of flooded caverns.
If you can find a way in, the most direct route would be to go underwater.
Hear that, Virg? This is gonna be my job.
"Virg"? Systems check complete.
Docking clamp released.
We are go for module deployment.
Thunderbird 4 is go! OK, if this is the most direct way in, then that control section must be on the other side of the world! Hey! We got seismic activity.
It's another cave-in.
Whoopsie! Mayday! Mayday! Mayday! Emergency! Can anyone hear me? Anyone?! - Dad! - I've got you.
Guys, the cave-ins are shifting ferrous rock around and it's scrambling my scanners.
I'll eyeball my way in as far as I can.
FAB, Thunderbird 4.
Nothing too risky till I disable the actuator.
We don't know for sure Williams wasn't even in the control section when it broke off.
Hold on.
I've got a signal.
Switching frequencies.
- Mayday! Mayday! Mayday! - This is International Rescue.
We copy and are attempting to reach you through an underground waterway.
An underwater rescue?! So you're in Thunderbird 4! To whom do I have the pleasure of speaking? I'm Aidan Williams.
I'm here with my dad.
And the cave-in is crushing the room.
Your dad Robert Williams? - Tell him I can't walk.
- Huh.
His leg is broken, and the comm was broken, and everything was broken.
So I made a radio and I treated my dad for shock.
Good man! - Hey, the shaking's stopped.
- Copy that.
- How old are you, Aidan? - Eleven - next August.
Stand by, Aidan.
Switching frequencies.
Thunderbird 2, I'm in contact with Robert Williams.
He's in the control section - with his son.
That certainly complicates things.
Any chance of stopping another round of cave-ins? Not from the control section.
Virg, you'll have to shut down that machine from up top.
FAB, "Gordo"! Brains, I'm linking you in.
Take a look at this fly-by footage.
My! What a t-terrible design.
Is it sitting on the hydromethane tanks? Correct.
A failed attempt to disable the actuator could v-vaporise the whole area.
OK, Aidan, I'm on my way.
Can you tell me anything about where you are? - I can hear water below us.
- Good.
That helps.
Now, how mobile is your father? I'll try.
- I'm sorry, it's too - He can't stand up! FAB, Aidan.
Hold on.
I'm using sonar to get through these caverns to you.
- Hurry! Save us! - Hey, Aidan! Hey! Let's take a deep breath.
I need you to stay calm.
That's the first rule of any emergency.
- He's my dad, you know? - Yeah.
I really do.
He may be slipping into shock.
Keep him still and comfortable till I get there.
Urgh! Dead end.
So, Aidan, why don't you tell me about how you put together this radio of yours.
Science camp.
Me and Damon, he's my best friend, we're crazy about aerospace.
We found a picture of Thunderbird 3 on the net - and I built a scale model.
So much for keeping that one secret! So the telemetry relay of my Thunderbird is what I made the radio out of.
- Nice one.
Urgh! - Are you almost here? Yes! Well, I'll be straight with you.
It's slow going.
It's gonna be all right, Aidan.
Standing by.
Great The actuator runs on solar power.
It's covered front to back with energy collection panels.
That means there isn't any way to shut it down.
It could start another cave-in at any moment! Can't cut the power, can't blow it up.
Looks like we'll have to move it.
M-Move the whole sonic injection platform?! Why, of course! Why didn't I think of that? Cos nobody but me can do it.
That's the beauty of flying the big bird.
Easy, easy Thunderbird 4, have you reached them yet? Not yet.
I'm having trouble navigating the caverns.
Something in the rocks is scrambling my sonar signal.
If only you could get them to ping you remotely.
You know, that might be doable.
- Aidan, meet Brains.
- Hello? Brains, this is Aidan.
He's pretty handy.
He built a radio from a model rocket's telemetry relay.
What a resourceful boy! - Aidan, do you know what sonar is? - Sure.
Want me to ping you? Yes.
That would be quite helpful.
I think my rocket's locator transponder still works.
Stand by.
Excellent! Pr-Processing the signal now, Thunderbird 4.
Setting my new course and locking the nav.
OK, that's as far as I can go by water.
I'll have to beach and go by foot from here.
Be careful down there.
The cave-ins have probably released a lot of hydromethane.
Thunderbird 2, how's everything top side? Not so great.
I may have a little problem with my "brilliant" plan.
The platform is too big for Thunderbird 2 to move.
I'm gonna have to cut this thing down to size.
Hey! Whoa! Whoa! Dad! It's like being inside a rock crusher! - Has it stopped? - Feels like it.
You were right about the hydromethane.
It's everywhere.
T-Try not to ignite it.
If it blows up - - It'll be like the Fourth of July? - More like doomsday.
Good to know Looks like I've got some climbing to do.
Almost there.
Good.
- My dad's looking bad.
- Just hang on.
- Aidan, know what I hate? - What? Low ceilings.
We'll be out of here before it gets any lower.
If it gets any lower, we'll have to wear it home! Virgil, that rig's gotta move soon.
The control section can't take another cave-in.
- Aidan! - International Rescue! Hi.
It's Gordon.
Time to get you out of here.
It's good to see you.
Take it easy.
OK, we're gonna need to lower him on my cable.
I need two lengths of rope - One three metres, the other - four.
For an improvised rescue harness.
Nice! I already found some stuff.
It's over there.
I'll get it on him.
Keep him comfortable and hydrated.
Small sips.
Gordo, you better be gone.
No! It's another earthquake.
- Aidan, first rule in any emergency? - Stay calm.
Don't worry, Aidan.
Just take it steady.
The actuator's clear.
Let's move this thing! - Whoa! - Gordon! That last quake weakened the rock - move! Perfect timing.
Maybe not so perfect.
Thunderbird 4, that actuator must have regulated the pressure on the hydromethane tank.
It's gonna blow! - Belts on! - Cool! We're not out of it yet.
Virgil, no need to cut it close or anything I got you.
Brace yourselves! - You're going to be all right, Dad.
- Yeah.
Well done, son.
There's a hospital just ten minutes away.
We'll get that leg set for you.
Thunderbird 4, this is Thunderbird 5.
Great rescue.
We made it.
But whoever's behind this got away clean.
Not quite.
I've been monitoring the frequency Mr Williams's call came in on and found a crew of hydromethane poachers trying to transmit new instructions to that injection platform.
The local authorities are rounding them up right now.
Johnny! Did you just bust a crime ring from orbit? Well, Brains helped.
And don't call me Johnny.
Damon's gonna be so jealous that I got to meet you, guys! Too bad it's cos I needed saving.
You never want something bad to happen to your dad.
- No.
- You sure don't.
If our guests would prefer, we have very good m-medical facilities on Tracy Island.
Perhaps this brilliant young man would like a tour of my lab.
FAB! What does that mean? What? I'd really like to know.
- Dad! - Always wondered.
