Thundercats (2011) s01e19 Episode Script

The Pit

I say we find the supplies and get out of here.
I've got some real bad memories of this town.
You've been uneasy all morning.
What exactly happened here, Panthro? Forget it, kid.
I don't want to give you nightmares.
He's probably just worried about catching fleas from the locals.
Come on, guys.
Dogs aren't so bad.
Yeah.
We used to hang out with them all the time in the slums of Thundera.
They made the best bone stew.
Mmm.
Bone stew.
Let's find some while we're here.
Maybe you two should stay close.
We can take care of ourselves.
Just make sure they stay out of trouble, snarf.
Hey, guys.
Look at this.
A cat.
What's she doing here? She must have survived the fall of Thundera.
Now, all she has to do is survive the pit.
This is the pit.
It's where slaves and criminals fight to survive.
And to entertain.
Like I needed another reason not to like dogs.
Who's in charge? What do you know about this cat? She's a fighter who belongs to me.
She doesn't belong to anyone.
That so? Yeah.
She's a free cat now, so we'll be taking her with us.
You're welcome to try.
Don't let him scare you, Lion-O.
Stay out of it, Panthro.
He may have been tough once, but now, he's too old and scrawny.
Oh, brother.
You filthy little furball! You stupid, ugly mutt! Been a long time, Dobo.
A lifetime, Panthro.
I can see that.
Are they friends? I can't tell.
She doesn't have a chance against that thing.
So good.
Kind of reminds me of home.
In more ways than one.
I guess all slums have pickpockets.
Salutations, my young friends.
The name's tookit.
Might you spare the briefest of moments for a poor old soul who has nothing? Don't even think about it.
I beg your pardon? You can't fool us with that act.
We know everything there is to know about pickpocketing.
You think I'm a pickpocket? Oh, I'm but a lowly beggar.
Terribly sorry to have disturbed you.
I'll be on my way now.
And no one can know everything, my dear.
Good day.
What a weirdo.
Yeah.
A real Hey, my flute's gone! My flank, too! - Guess he's better than we thought.
- Come on.
And Pumyra wins again.
You cats train your soldiers well.
That warrior is making me a fortune.
Let us buy her freedom.
With what? She'll earn her freedom if she survives 100 fights.
It'd be a shame if she escaped before that.
Make sure your friend doesn't do anything stupid, Panthro.
The lizards are bad enough.
We can't afford a war with the dogs, too.
She's a Thundercat, Panthro.
I won't let her be a slave.
Quickly, come with me.
Who are you? A friend.
Keep it down.
This place is crawling with guards.
You.
You! Get away from me! It's OK! I said get away from me! You care so much about her, Lion-O, you can join her.
In fact, you can be next in line to fight her.
That's our King you've got in that cage, Dobo.
He tried to steal from me, Panthro.
Would you rather i turned him over to the authorities? In the pit, at least he's got a chance of getting out.
After 100 victories.
Since Panthro's a friend, I'll make an exception.
If Lion-O wins, he's free.
And if he loses? Remind me again how you know this friend? Long time ago, Dobo and I met in the pit.
I was a prisoner of war.
He was a thief.
For matches, we were usually paired as a team.
Guess they thought it was funny to see a cat and dog fighting together.
We beat everything they threw at us, no matter how nasty.
While most warriors die here, Dobo somehow rose up to run the place.
Only slave that's ever done that.
I owe it all to Panthro.
He was like a brother to me.
I wouldn't have lasted a day if he hadn't taught me how to survive.
That's not true.
We survived together.
Indeed, until that morning i woke up and found out you escaped.
I've always regretted leaving you behind like that.
No.
It was the best thing you could have done.
I was naive to have expected loyalty from a cat.
I learned that day i was going to have to earn my freedom myself.
If your King wants his freedom, he can fight for it, too.
Unhand me! I assure you that whatever you're missing, i didn't, uh, take it.
No wonder they call you tookit.
Give me back my flute.
And my flank, you thief.
Thief? You yourself admitted you're no stranger to pickpocketing.
We stole because we needed to eat.
What's your excuse? Look around you.
This is a tough town.
I'm only trying to survive, just like you.
Survive? Then why would you steal something worthless like that? I haven't the foggiest idea.
So why take it? I'm a kleptovoyant.
I don't know why i take what I do, but it always has a way of coming in handy later.
You see? That's all very interesting, but we want our stuff back.
Now.
You fancy yourselves quite the pocket poachers, don't you? Well, I'll tell you what.
Prove you're as quick-fingered as you say, and I'll give you your things back.
Unless, of course, you're scared of getting caught.
We never get caught.
What's the mark? I was just trying to help you.
You're a piece of work, you know.
You act like I'm your enemy.
That's exactly what you are to me.
I am your King.
A King would not have abandoned his people when Thundera fell.
A King would not have let his people be sold into slavery.
And a King would have done something for them by now.
I did what I had to do so I could fight another day.
And how many more days do you need before you free your people? So many waited for you to save them from their torment, and until their last breath, they waited.
I can't change what's happened! But I can promise to stand by you now.
I stopped believing you'd rescue me a long time ago, Lion-O.
I will earn myself the freedom my King could not give me.
And when we get in that arena, I'm going to rip you to pieces.
It's a rare treat to see two cats tear each other apart.
The crowd's excited.
Too bad cats won't kill each other for some dogs' sick pleasure.
I have yet to see your species display such loyalty.
I know I failed you, Pumyra, but I ask again that we stand together as cats.
Only one of us will be left standing.
Enough talk.
Here's the sitch.
If you can take his cane, the blanket from the bulldog's laundry, and a button from that fellow's coat, I'll happily return your things.
What do you want with that junk? I'm not quite sure, but they always have a way of yeah, yeah, we know.
You're kleptovoyant.
But they won't do you any good, because we're giving it all back after.
Come on, sis.
Let's get this over with.
Happy? Now, let's return all the stuff before we get in trouble.
I'm afraid it's too late for that.
This isn't what it looks like.
Run! Cane, please? Lucky we took that cane.
Button, my good sir.
Everyone, grab a corner.
And jump! Phew! We got away.
Of course we did.
And now, for the payoff.
Now, I must be on my way.
Pleasure was all mine, I'm sure.
He wasn't such a bad guy after all.
Yeah.
I actually wait a second! He's still got our stuff! It's easy to see why Thundera fell in a day.
You're pathetic.
I refuse to fight you.
Then you will die.
Stay down, and I might end this mercifully.
Very well.
You can suffer as your people did.
Does he have to be punished for what you think I did? Should I be the only one, old pal? When you ran, you didn't just leave me behind You left behind all the enemies we had made together.
I had to stand alone against that bloodthirsty horde.
I ran because I learned my fight the next day was a death match.
So? It wouldn't have been your first.
It was going to be between you and me.
You were afraid you couldn't beat me? No.
I was afraid I'd have to.
Why do you keep getting up? I said I'd stand by you.
And I intend to.
I will not kill my King, Dobo.
And I will not hurt a fellow cat.
The penalty for forfeiting is death.
Let them live! It seems loyalty is not only a trait of the dogs.
You have earned my respect.
You both leave this arena as free cats.
Maybe you know how to act like a King after all.
You said you were among other cat slaves.
Where? A mining operation, there, in Mount Plundar.
