A mysterious voice

Palely shimmering, SEVENTH MOON ♪
I'm just looking for an answer ♪
In the rhythm
With this crazy dance of mine ♪
[music stops]
[narrator] Macross 7 is a giant
emigration fleet traveling the galaxy
in search of a habitable planet.
MACROSS 7 FLEE
Finding such a planet
to colonize in this vast universe
CITY 7
is a long and time-consuming journey.
And so the fleet has
seven large residential ships
with cityscapes, parks, rivers,
and hills inside
where people can live
as they did on Earth.
There are many other emigration
fleets aside from Macross 7
MACROSS 1 FLEE
and they are traveling somewhere
in the galaxy, as well.
MACROSS 5 FLEE
These fleets form a communications
network called the Galaxy Network,
which allows them to communicate with
each other even though they are far apart.
But the universe is
an unpredictable place.
Macross 7 was attacked
by a mysterious enemy
GIGIL
and City 7, the main ship of the fleet,
was flung into unknown space
CITY 7 MAYOR, MILIA F. JENIUS
with all communications lost.
MYLENE - GAMLIN
The citizens of the city are unsettled
by this, but can do nothing
except drift along in space on their own.
[rock music playing]
That ain't it.
[sighs]
[grunts]
[plays guitar]
[chattering, whistling]

[chuckles]
What a great turnout,
-and it's still an hour until the concert.

I'm no Basara,
