Moomin (1990) s01e24 Episode Script

Hurry Up Snufkin

Moomin
Even you, who always
tries to keep strong, -
will have moments when
you need to shed tears.
In those moments, just
cry your heart out, -
and then you will find that the
sadness quickly disappears.
Come, come here to where I am.
Come and hold out your
little hand to me.
I shall take you to
the world of dreams.
As long as you have an
honest heart, all is well.
Snufkin Doesn't Come Back
Spring has come upon Moominvalley.
Its inhabitants have awakened
from their long winter -
sleep and are now enjoying
this beautiful season.
However, Moomin is now
down with a terrible cold.
That is quite a troubling cough.
My throat hurts.
Alright, drink this.
It's supposed to be
very good for colds.
It's awfully sour.
Hm? That has lots of lemon, dear.
I want to go out and play
You must stay in bed.
You'll have a more difficult time
if it worsens into pneumonia.
Mamma
Why do you think Snufkin
hasn't come back yet?
I don't know
But spring has only
just come, has it not?
Snufkin has always
come back from his -
journeys to the south
as soon as spring came.
This year, however, there has yet to
be any sight of him in Moominvalley.
Snufkin
Pappa, has Moomin's cold gotten better?
Not at all, his cough
is still terrible.
Would it be fine if I saw him?
You'll catch his cold, so I suggest
you refrain from seeing him for now.
Sniff, Moomin's cough is
still truly terrible.
It would be best not
to go near him, for -
now. I've told
everyone so as well.
Oh, I feel bad for Moomin.
Waking up in mid-winter must
have have been bad for him.
That is possible.
No, that probably has nothing
to do with his cold.
I heard My woke up the
same time Moomin did.
And look at her.
Visiting, visiting~
My is just special, Pappa.
Ah! How boring!
Moomin's sick.
And Snufkin isn't back.
I wonder what's keeping him.
I bet Moomin would get all better
the moment Snufkin comes back.
He always came back as
soon as spring came
Perhaps he doesn't want
to come back anymore.
What? I'm sure that's not true at all.
Snufkin really likes
Moomin a lot, you know?
And I do too, of course.
Then could Snufkin be somewhere
out there sick as well?
Why don't we search for him?
Search for who?
Snufkin.
If only Snufkin would come back,
Moomin would certainly get well.
But where would we search?
The south!
The south is a huge place
Anyhow, I will go south to find him.
Are you serious?
Of course!
Oh, then why don't we ask
Snork for some advice?
Are you out of your mind?
Are you telling me I can't go and
search for Snufkin, brother?
Snufkin is no doctor.
Moominmamma told us.
She said that Moomin
would keep on asking -
whether Snufkin has
come back yet.
He really misses him.
Well. Those two are certainly
the best of friends.
However, you don't understand the kind
of person Snufkin is in the slightest.
I'm good friends with Snufkin too!
Snufkin is a person who
loves solitude the most.
Since he hasn't come back
yet even now, it is likely -
that Snufkin won't be coming
back at all this year.
Even if we tell him
that Moomin is sick?
If he wants to come
back, he'll come back.
Well, anyhow, I'm going
to search for Snufkin.
I won't allow it!
Sniff, My, what do you
two intend to do?
Well, I
Floren said that she wanted
to search for Snufkin,
so I thought I wouldn't
mind coming along.
But if she isn't going
Snufkin will come back sooner or later.
There's no need to go and look for him.
Floren, it's just as My says.
How is Moomin?
He's asleep. Though he wasn't coughing.
And his fever?
Still quite high.
Snufkin!!!
Thank you, Moomin.
I came for you, Snufkin.
This cloud is from the
Hobgoblin's hat, is it not?
Yes! Of course you would remember!
You came a long way.
We found the secret for making
the clouds last much longer.
Hey!
Oh! You fellows came too!
Moomin!
Snufkin!!!
A dream
Snufkin?!
I heard you were sick.
Yes. It's contagious.
I'm nothing like Floren or Sniff.
There's no way I'd
catch a cold from you.
Mamma won't let me see anyone.
You fell from the bed, didn't you?
So you saw that
Just in time.
You were dreaming, right?
So you know?
Sure I do.
A dream about food, no doubt.
You were trying to
reach for some snacks -
way up high, and fell
from a footstool.
So? Did I get it?
Not even close.
Hey, Stinky
Have you heard any news about Snufkin?
Oh, Snufkin.
You know something, don't you?!
I only know that he left for his
journey to the south last autumn.
That, and
And what?
I also know that Floren
tried to look for Snufkin -
for you, but was stopped
by her brother Snork.
Floren did?!
Floren, wait!
Floren!
Are you serious?
I'll be fine, my fever's gone down.
You haven't been eating much, have you?
I can endure a little hunger.
Stinky, show me the path Snufkin
usually takes, will you?
Are you seriously going
to look for him?
Of course! I feel like
spring won't truly have -
come to Moominvalley
until Snufkin appears.
In short, you miss him.
I do.
I want to see him as soon as I can.
Well, it's not on me if Mamma and
Pappa finds you out, got it?
I'm not going to let them find me.
Sorry, Stinky. Are you alright?
Sure am.
Moomin, it's time for a meal.
Pappa! Pappa!
We have a problem! Moomin
isn't in his room.
What?!
Where did he go?
I don't know.
But he is nowhere in his room.
This is bad.
Well then, I will search for
him within the vicinity.
Hey! Moomin!
Moomin!
Pappa!
Oh, My.
What happened with Moomin?
He's disappeared.
In that case, he's likely have
gone off to search for Snufkin.
Snufkin?
You do know that Moomin's been waiting
for Snufkin's return, don't you?
But he's sick!
Are you sure this is the right path?
This path leads south,
no mistake about that.
What do we do if we miss each other?
Well, if you're worried about that,
what about just staying home instead?
But that's
Moomin!
Oh, Floren!
Where do you plan on taking him?
He's sick, you know!
This wasn't my idea!
Moomin really wanted to
go and kept pestering me.
Is this true, Moomin?
I really want to see Snufkin.
So I
I thought that's how
you must be feeling, -
so I set out to search for Snufkin
even though I had to go alone.
But I heard Snork
didn't allow you to go.
I set out without my brother knowing.
That's not good, Floren.
And? How about you?
Did Mamma and Pappa give you
permission to go out like this?
Well, that's
Stinky, admit it. You goaded
him into this, didn't you?
No way!
He didn't, Floren!
Moomin wouldn't think
of going out with this -
cough if you hadn't
goaded him into it!
No, I'm not lying! I'm really
just accompanying him, I swear!
It's true, Floren! I was the one who
said I wanted to look for Snufkin.
Well, then. Moomin, let's go home.
But Floren
No buts!
You're still sick. I'm sure Pappa
and Mamma are awfully worried
Look!
Moomin!
Isn't that Snork behind Pappa?
It's my brother!
I have a bad feeling about this
Thank goodness. I was worried
you'd already gone much further.
I'm sorry, Pappa.
Stinky, it's you again, isn't it?
Taking Moomin out when he's sick!
N-no! I didn't! I only came along
'cause I was worried about Moomin!
He's telling the truth, Pappa!
This was my idea
Are you alright, Moomin?
Floren!
Oh, joy. Here comes another.
Thank goodness, Floren. I thought
you'd really gone to journey south.
I most certainly intended to go.
I knew it
I see. So you were the one giving
Floren strange ideas, weren't you?
Just as I thought.
If you just rest and sleep, your
cold shall get better in no time.
You'd like to get better by the
time Snufkin gets back, don't you?
If only Snufkin came
back, this whole -
troublesome incident
wouldn't have occurred.
Hear, hear.
However, those words are certainly
most unfair to Snufkin.
For at that time, Snufkin
was doing his utmost,
walking on his way
back to Moominvalley.
Snufkin was very tired.
I know a lot about you.
Oh?
You're Snufkin, am I right?
Hey! The water's still cold, is it not?
Come. Hurry and warm yourself by
the fire or you'll catch a cold.
Thank you.
You don't know how glad I am to
have the chance to meet you.
It brings me even more joy to be
able to warm myself by your fire.
Why do you know my name?
That's because I've always
been fascinated with you.
I've watched you walk
this path every year.
I've also heard rumors about you
from many different creatures.
Well, this is a surprise.
I've never thought I'd be so
admired by anyone at all.
What is your name?
No one has ever named me.
Perhaps it's because I'm too tiny
and my presence is too meager.
No one has ever asked
for my name before.
And now, you, whom I admire so
much, has asked me for my name!
Your whole story strikes me
as quite exaggerated, though.
Um This might be
asking for a lot, but
Would you be kind enough
to think up a name for me?
A name that would be mine
alone, a name that no -
one else would use
That is the name I want!
Would you think of one for me tonight?
It would be quite difficult to come
up with the kind of name you want
But you're a person who knows
everything, aren't you?
Little one, if you
worship someone too -
much, you'll end up
losing your freedom.
See! You see! You know even
such magnificent truths!
I've always wished to be
just as free as you are!
Oh I believe I've talked too much.
I'm sure you're tired from traveling.
You're on your way to Moominvalley
to see your friends, aren't you?
I've heard from the porcupine that
Moomin woke up in midwinter this year
and has been eagerly awaiting
your return since then.
It must feel awfully nice
to know that someone -
cherishes you and yearns
so much to see you.
I just might choose not to return to
Moominvalley if I don't feel like it.
Oh. He'll be very sad about that.
I love being alone the most.
Oh! I'm very sorry!
I'll leave you alone now
I'm quite dry now. Thank you
Goodbye
Good night.
About your name
My name?
How about
How does "Teety-woo" sound?
Teety-woo.
With a light beginning and a
little sadness at the end of it.
Teety-woo
Yes. Teety-woo.
Teety-woo.
Teety-woo!
Teety-woo.
Teety-woo!!!
Hurrah!!! What a wonderful name!
Teety-woo!
Now, come back, Teety-woo.
Let's talk some more.
I'm going to build myself a new house!
And then I'll put up a name plate with
"Teety-woo" on it!
Sounds good.
About what I said earlier though
Huh?
Remember? About not going back to
Moominvalley if I don't feel like it
That wasn't true, was it?
You just said that out
of irritation since -
I kept going on and
on, didn't you?
I see. So you actually noticed.
I'm a little late in
going back this year,
so I've been feeling
quite impatient.
I would like to see
Moomin as soon as I can.
Moomin is very lucky.
Please send my regards to him.
Alright, I will.
Well then, what shall we talk about?
I would also love to
hear your many stories,
but, you have a harmonica
in there, don't you?
Yes. Indeed, I do.
Would it be alright to ask you to
play some music for me instead?
What would you like to hear?
Anything.
Well, let's see How about the
tune you usually play for Moomin?
That's Snufkin!
Ow.
Snufkin!
At long last, spring had
truly come for Moomin.
Pappa said he saw a dream.
He dreamt that on a
small island in some -
faraway ocean, there
stands a lighthouse.
And that if he goes
there, he will certainly -
be able to write a
wonderful novel.
Come, everyone! All aboard,
and let's all go there!
Next on Fun Family Moomin:
On Pappa's Dream.
