Thomas' Christmas Party (7 min)
lt was Christmas on Sodor.
Thomas and Toby were carrying parcels up and down the branch line.
Everyone was happy but not the coaches.
"lt's always the same at Christmas, we feel so full.
" "Come on," said Thomas, "Where's your festive spirit?" There was a cottage with a figure waving to them.
"lt's Mrs Kindly.
Happy Christmas!" Thomas liked seeing her.
Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without Mrs Kindly.
Thomas found the other engines.
Their coats were polished.
Gordon said, "Your driver has to work fast to get you as smart as us.
" "Never mind that," replied Thomas.
"lt's a year since Mrs Kindly saved us.
She was ill in bed and" Edward interrupted, "She waved a dressing gown "to warn you about a landslide.
" Percy said, "You gave her presents and the Fat Controller sent her on holiday.
" "The rest of us have never thanked her.
" "Exactly," said Thomas, "Let's give her a Christmas party.
" Everyone was excited and was sure the Fat Controller would agree.
He did.
But then silence fell.
The Fat Controller had bad news.
"Mrs Kindly is snowed up.
"Toby says he'll help rescue her.
You must help too!" Thomas hated snow but said, "l'll try.
We must rescue her!" "Good engine.
You will manage splendidly.
" Thomas charged the snowdrifts.
Sometimes they stuck and the men had to loosen them.
(Bell dinging) At the cutting near the cottage, they could go no further.
"Peep-peep!" There was a wave at a window.
Then they heard a familiar sound.
"That's Terence!" said Thomas.
Terence had a snowplough and was clearing a path to the railway.
After the rescue, Percy took the workmen home.
Terence promised to look after Mrs Kindly's cottage.
(Bell dinging, whistling) The engines made good time but the yard was dark.
Thomas's heart sank.
Suddenly, the lights went on.
How marvellous! "Well done," said the Fat Controller.
Mrs Kindly thanked the smaller engines.
"You're all my friends.
" Percy was very pleased.
"Three cheers for Mrs Kindly!" (? Brass band) ? We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! ? lt was Thomas's best Christmas and Mrs Kindly thought there was nowhere she'd rather live than Sodor.
