Make Things Right
1 [.]
[HEARTBEAT THUMPING.]
JASON: Everyone.
Could I have your attention? Could I have your attention? [CHILDREN LAUGHING.]
JASON: Could I have your attention? Can I have your attention? Thank you.
[JASON CLEARS THROAT.]
Today is special.
You all know-- [CROWD CHEERING.]
JASON: You know-- Five years.
That's right.
We met, some of us, at the rallies.
Geneva, back before any of this started.
When this was still just the manifesto of some crazy man.
Not so crazy now, is he? [CHEERING AND APPLAUSE.]
JASON: Today we are thousands strong.
Scattered all over the globe.
And I think that our little chapter has done pretty well for itself, I have to say.
[CROWD CHEERS.]
[JASON CLEARS THROAT.]
The world is a much more frightening place now than it was even-- Even a year ago.
There is no denying that we are on the brink of singularity.
Technology finally spiraling out of their control.
And we are the only ones who can stop it.
[CROWD CHEERS.]
MAN: That's right.
Almost three years ago-- God, has it really been that long? Three years ago, we welcomed a new member to the cause.
And he didn't know it yet-- Hell, uh, none of us knew it.
But Ken has become an important part of our family.
Perhaps our most significant ally.
[CROWD CHEERING.]
[JASON GRUNTING.]
KENNETH: Someone go get my computer.
And some tools, now.
WOMAN: What the hell? [CROWD CHATTERING.]
PAULINE: Jason? [GROANS.]
My shoulder.
It was dislocated.
We had to put it back in.
You also fractured two of your ribs.
[GROANS.]
Did you drug me? Just a sleep aid I mixed up.
Yuck, I can taste it.
Well, you probably don't wanna know what I used.
JASON: Ken? Yeah? What happened? KENNETH: Your brace.
It's got some problems.
The right arm.
It took some work getting it off.
[GROANS.]
Dusty, P.
Can I chat with Ken alone? No problem.
Thank you.
[GROANS.]
What's wrong with it? Aside from the software being corrupt, the brace itself is in pretty serious need of repair.
This model needs to be maintained yearly.
Did you know that? Heh.
Yeah.
When was the last time a professional actually looked at it? I think you know the answer to that.
That's why you're here.
Can you help me? These people can't see who I really am.
Who are you, Jason? [SIGHS.]
I'm this.
I'll fix it.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
[SIGHS.]
[.]
I really do like you, man.
You done with that? I'll lock it up.
KENNETH: Not this time.
I'm sure I'll see you soon.
