Outlast (2023) s02e01 Episode Script

Season 2, Episode 1

1
I'm here to win.
That's it.
I'm here to win.
Welcome to Outlast.
I might be losing fingers,
but the last thing
I'm gonna do is give up.
A survival competition
unlike any other.
I would never let money
compromise my morals and integrity.
Ever.
I'm not leaving
unless they make me.
I'll die out here
starving to death if I have to.
There's only one rule.
A player must be a part of a team
In my lifetime,
I've been that wolf looking for a pack.
in order to win.
I believe enough in my skills
to play this game fair.
I don't trust him at all now.
Let's get rid of people.
Let's handicap them.
Let's make 'em flare out.
That's the game I want to play.
You taking our stuff?
Got 'em. Confiscated.
You can't take them with you.
We'll just grab it back.
We're playing the game.
If we were back at home now,
your ass would be calling an ambulance,
begging me to stop.
- Go!
- Let's go!
With a million-dollar prize on the line,
will players compete with honor
We play a clean game.
- I think I'm honorable.
- or
This is a game with no rules.
Shit can hit the fan anytime.
- will gloves come off
- People's true colors'll show.
Flare!
- I wanna play this game fair.
- Same.
So long, thief!
in order to win
I'm so cold.
and split
the million-dollar prize?
- God damn.
- You got it, Em. Push!
The team who prevails
will have to out-hunt
- Got one.
- outsmart
Oh my goodness.
and out-strategize.
Come on!
But above all else,
they'll have to
Outlast.
Sixteen players
have come to Alaska
in order to play
a survival game of a lifetime.
I've been to Alaska before,
and it can be brutal.
The weather can change at any minute.
There's predators everywhere.
So it's a wild place.
Personally,
I've never been to Alaska.
This Alaska's my first time flying,
to be honest.
As they embark
towards the game board,
players have been given
strict instructions
not to speak to one another
until the game begins.
At this moment,
all we can do is size each other up,
looking to see
who might be the strongest, the weakest.
You're looking at people's gear, trying
to get a feel for how tough they look.
You don't know where you're going.
I don't want to show a sign of weakness,
but inside I'm kind of quaking.
I'm like, "Oh man, this is intense."
All players bring something
uniquely different to the game.
Being a professional trapper,
I spend 90% of my time in the mountains.
I don't know about everybody else,
but far as I'm concerned,
Trying to play an honest game.
Not gonna mess with anybody
unless we get messed with first.
I've been on Everest.
I've been down in Antarctica.
These expeditions that I do,
they are extremely expensive.
I know I'm gonna survive
out here, 'cause I've been homeless.
Life has been nothing but losses for me.
I've had to learn to build on nothing.
I do think I have the skills
and the mental fortitude
to outlast everybody else out here.
When it comes to a team,
I see myself as a leader.
Somebody that's gonna get shit done.
I'm an asset, and I'm broke as shit right
now, and I need some money.
But for now, the game has just
begun.
"Welcome to Outlast,
the game with only one rule."
"You must be part of a team
in order to win."
"The team you start with does not
need to be the team you finish with."
"You can change teams at will."
"You may quit the game at any time
by shooting a flare into the sky."
"If you find yourself without a team,
you have a full day
to try and join another."
"If you cannot join one,
you must shoot a flare
and remove yourself from the game."
"The last team standing wins."
"The winning team will split
the $1 million prize evenly."
-Whoo!
-Yoo!
"For those of you holding a hatchet"
What?
Get out of here.
Hey.
Wow.
Of course the men got to the crate first
because they're all alpha males,
like it always is in this kind of deal.
"For those of you
holding a hatchet,
you will be selecting a team
one player at a time."
I'm super pumped.
Being able to handpick
my whole team is huge.
Tell us why to pick you.
My name is Drake. I'm from West Texas.
I'm a hunter, a fisher, and a builder.
-All right. Who wants
-Can I get my boy from Texas here?
Okay.
My first thought,
"I want the big dude from Texas."
He just looked like my kind of people,
and I don't know,
I felt a connection with him somehow,
and I knew I wanted him on my team.
- Who are you?
- I'm Tonia.
I work hard, I don't quit,
and I'm very easy to get along with.
I'm a criminal defense attorney.
I have a pretty good bullshit detector.
I don't know that I trust her.
What do you do?
My name is Brianna.
I was in the military for six years.
Fishing, bow hunting.
And I'm thinking,
"Get a hunter on your team."
That's my priority, because I don't hunt.
Come on over.
Yes, nice.
Who are you?
I'm Brendon, from Central Idaho.
I was a hunting guide,
professional trapper, and I'm honorable.
Come on over.
I, uh, looked
at Brendon first 'cause
- Good to meet you.
- he was tough on the boat.
No gloves, no hat,
just letting that rain pelt him.
He was just soaking wet.
It just didn't even faze him.
The guy from Idaho,
um, where I'm from,
I saw the confidence in him.
I saw his wicked cool cowboy hat
and I was like,
"This guy is about that life."
And so that was the only person
that I wanted to pick.
Oh my God.
So after that,
I I didn't have a strategy.
Goatee?
My name is Joe. Carencro, Louisiana.
I'm a mechanic and outdoorsman.
I got the heart of a Mack truck.
My work ethic
is almost unmatched.
I'm gonna be an asset
to any team I'm a part of.
KUIU jacket.
I'm Bayo,
a professional hunter
and a trapper for the State of Florida.
Come on over.
My man down here on the end.
I'm Sammy, and I've been practicing
primitive skills for over ten years now.
Come on over.
-Nice to meet you. Drew.
-Yeah.
- The hat.
- Hi, I'm Meghan.
I'm an engineer, so I MacGyver shit.
And I have a ridiculous amount
of positive energy.
Bring that positive energy over here.
Did we just become best friends?
-Yellow gloves.
-My name is Tina. I love to forage.
I've been a fisherman since childhood.
Come on over.
I'm a model, and I am out here
to break the stereotype
that we're dumb, we're incapable.
My guy on the end.
Hey, uh, my name is Tre.
Pretty much a nomad lifestyle.
I bring to the table
being an arborist, angler,
and I'm really big on pre-prepping.
I'm going with the arborist.
Who's your last pick?
We get whoever's left.
Shit, oh, that's right.
-Who does he want to take?
-Somebody to help with labor.
- Mm.
- Yes, please. Thank you.
- Girl in the blue jacket.
- Hey, I'm Emily.
I have formal and technical training
in outdoor education,
and I can identify
over two dozen plants native to this area.
Perfect. Bring it on over here.
Hey.
-The hat.
-My name is Joey.
I worked commercial construction.
I have fishing and survival experience.
- Our construction guy.
- There you go.
Yes, dude.
I'll go number four. I'll go number four.
So I'm looking around,
and I'm watching people get picked,
and all of a sudden,
there's just me and this old lady,
and I'm just like, "Man, what?"
I was a top athlete, you know.
I'm that guy back home.
Come on over.
Yeah!
But now
I gotta prove myself? It's all good.
I'm a little man with a lot of power,
and, uh, I got a lot of heart.
I'mma just show y'all.
I have no fear being picked last.
Happy to have you. Come on over.
- I felt like it was coming.
- Bring it in.
- Thanks.
- We're winning.
I know who I am,
I know what I got inside,
and everybody else is about to find out.
-Dream team. Dream team.
-Let's do this, people! Whoo hoo!
The players have divided
themselves equally into four teams.
Alpha
Bravo
Charlie
and Delta.
-Are we ready?
-Yeah.
I'm ready. I've been ready.
I've been ready
since I got here, honestly.
-Hope y'all are hungry for that money.
-Hell yeah.
- Let's get to camp.
- All right. Let's make it.
With only a few hours
of daylight left,
the teams depart to their location
on the vast game board
in order to find camp.
I was looking at the water,
I see those seagulls sitting there eating.
- You always follow the birds.
- Bingo, you know it.
Teams Alpha and Bravo
will share the same shoreline,
while the other two teams,
Charlie and Delta, will be across the way,
separated by the cold, frigid waters
of the Alaskan bay.
Each shoreline is uniquely different
in topography, microclimates,
and what it brings
in regards to wildlife dangers.
Kupreanof Island is known
for its many bears,
but this bay in particular is known
for its rather large wolf population.
Might be able to get up and over there.
In order
to make camp and survive,
each team has been given
a bag with limited supplies
- Yep. Let's do it.
- consisting of
- Here we go.
- a bow with eight arrows
- a knife
- Nice and sharp.
- a flint
- That'll do.
two tarps,
- a flashlight
- Good batteries?
- Yeah.
- binoculars
Some opticals.
- paracord
- Cordage.
a small pot
That's what I'm talking about.
-There's only two.
-two wool blankets
Oh boy.
two cans of water
Oh no, we don't want this.
and a flare gun
-Not gonna need this.
-Not gonna need it.
should a player choose
to quit the game.
-Throw it out in the ocean?
-With the tide.
That's a plan.
Alpha Team
Trying to find a flat camp.
has yet to agree
on a camp location
to begin setting up their shelter.
All right, guys. So this is our area.
The tide's coming in right now,
so we gotta choose quick.
Yeah.
This island is one option that's flat,
but we could be stuck half the day.
I mean, being stuck on an island
is not the best idea.
-So
-Land bridge over there.
There is a land bridge, but it'll
be covered in water here in about an hour.
- Yeah.
- So, too risky. Yeah.
Save that for the fish pot.
Nice rock point.
- Yeah, for sure.
- Exactly.
-Let's go check it out.
-Land it is.
I'm a super Type-A personality.
Always been a leader, going to take
the leadership role in anything that I do.
I used to fight professional MMA.
So I'm pretty well-versed
in being competitive.
There's dinner. Right here.
Maybe we'll get lucky.
Oh, I'm killing a deer
before this is over.
I'm pretty versed in all things outdoors,
but I'd say hunting
is definitely my strong point.
So when push comes to shove,
I'm going to make sure
my team is fed on this game.
Here we go.
Watch your legs, your ankles.
Now just gotta find somewhere flat.
Hm.
Wonder if somebody lives in there.
Right here it's pretty sheltered.
Just straight above a
At least we'll get some sunlight
if we ever get sun.
Yeah.
Nothing's flat here,
so this is our option.
We can't go there?
- No
- That tree?
No, we're here, man. Yeah.
Okay.
Zach is definitely an alpha male.
I think he does see himself as the leader
because he was holding the ax,
and that was put into the head
and it has stayed there.
Let's get a shelter and some fire,
which is kind of paramount here.
Okay.
Zach got to choose
every member of the team,
but just because you have a hatchet
in your hand and you got to pick it first,
that doesn't mean you're the leader, man.
Here's the ax. Don't break your back.
But I'm willing to give
the so-called team leader
a chance.
What are we doing for shelter?
I was thinking
just get two in on one side,
and then just a literal lean-to,
to the ground tonight.
Yeah, we can modify it after.
Yeah, buddy. Looking good.
Looks like Alpha Camp for me.
Sharing
the southern shore of the bay,
eight hundred meters
west of Alpha, is Team Bravo.
We got to find a nice,
flat spot to camp.
And as the ticking clock
of the sun setting continues
Sunset is about 6:15 these days.
We lose five minutes
of sunlight every day.
- Five?
- Yeah.
the team believes they have
found a suitable camp location on a bluff.
Ooh, over here looks kind of good.
Yeah, I think
this is our spot here.
I don't know. What do y'all think?
Water might come down.
- We can start with this.
- Dig this out, get rid of this here.
Or keep it for insulation.
Beautiful. So where y'all from?
- Um, I'm from Texas. Yeah.
- No way! Where at?
Around Shiner, Texas,
where they brew the beer.
-I'm from West Texas, Midland.
-Nice, dude.
The idea of two Texas boys
taking this down
and winning this competition
just thrills me.
Some Texas boys, huh?
-Yeah, some Texas boys.
-Not too far. Hell yeah.
I think Drew and I are gonna
become fast friends out here.
Maybe 'cause we're both from Texas.
I think we have the strongest team.
And I'm not bullshitting at all.
People from Texas tend to be a little more
rugged, a little more outspoken.
So, I think that's why we clicked so well.
I think people from a lot of other states
don't really understand that.
-What are y'all thinking for a shelter?
-Shelter-wise?
Well, we've got some daylight left.
Like, if we wanted
to keep it basic for tonight,
-we can always improve later too.
-We could also do log cabin style.
We could do
-A-frame?
-A-frame style.
Maybe that's not today.
- Uh
- I certainly want to present
a wide variety of knowledge and skills
that I bring to the table
for the bushcraft
and survival side of things.
I have studied this in school,
I've taken courses, I've led trips.
I've incorporated it into my career.
We could do teepee style.
My only concern with the teepee style,
I'd be worried
we wouldn't have enough space.
But trying not to step on people's toes
is something that, like, I think
I'll get better at being more assertive.
I think for this environment, like,
the best thing we could do is a wickiup.
And you can do the fire pit in the center,
and it goes straight up and out.
Okay. I'm down to try it.
Um, I'll start chopping wood first.
Cool.
I'm much more of a reserved type of guy.
I've done a lot
of my survival experiences alone.
So I'm not used to
actually being in a group.
- You good to drop?
- Yup.
All right. One, two, three.
But I think that's kind of on my part,
to kind of adapt to that.
This is perfect, dude.
- Nice feather stick.
- It's not as easy as it looks.
You know, survival situation,
especially with a group,
-the hardest day is the first day.
-Yeah.
Things will get better.
The shelter will get better.
- We'll have a shitter.
- in the zone.
We'll have a shitter.
Hmm. We want to go under both.
- Under both?
- Yeah, we want to wrap this four times.
- Okay.
- That's thinking with your dipstick.
- Dipstick?
- Think with your dipstick, Jimmy.
Drew and Drake, they're guys.
Hooty hoo!
So they're being a little bit more
reactive or even immature.
- "This is Sparta!"
- Skadoosh.
I mean, they're being bros.
Oh, I got a cramp in my gooch.
Makes your old nuts hurt?
It's
It's fine.
I think I'm gonna throw up.
But hanging out with a pack of bros
is wildly new to me.
One, two, three.
All right.
Drake, you got a good grip on 'em?
- I'm good back here.
- I'm moving this one. Hold.
Okay. All right, hold, hold.
Which one do we want to go on that?
- Nice.
- Hell yeah.
- Hell yes.
- Hell yeah, brother!
Hell yeah, brother!
I think I shit my pants.
That's gold.
Across the bay to the north,
Delta Team believes they have found
the perfect camp location.
Oh my God, this is amazing.
I smell mushrooms everywhere. Oh.
- I love 'em.
- It's beautiful.
Unbelievable.
I've been a chef for the past ten years.
I have an eye for foraging.
Those are yellow-footed chanterelles
right there, by the way.
They're so good.
I was raised very old school,
in the Midwest.
My grandpa would, uh,
take us out to the woods.
We would track deer.
Look at that there, you guys.
That's a buck rub.
He taught us about different mushrooms,
different plants to eat,
things not to eat.
- We'll need a good flat spot up here.
- Yeah.
And I think the teepee wickiup
would be nice.
Coming into this,
I think that I'll be quite a leader.
I, um, wouldn't mind
being the, uh, the alpha in the pack.
Man, this place looks pretty good.
Yeah. Pretty flat, nice and clear.
Nice and clear.
- But
- Good cover all the way around.
I think we're home.
- Home sweet home.
- Home sweet home.
I guess we're gonna
have to start getting at it.
I like it.
All right, let's see, let
Keep it to the right a bit more.
To the right.
Need help?
- Uh, probably, thank you.
- You're welcome.
Didn't expect to be a leader.
I was like,
"I'm just gonna cruise through."
- Hey, Tina.
- Yep?
Can you pick this mushroom
before somebody steps on it?
Yeah.
Eric has taken on that leadership role.
I've become his little sidekick, I think.
- Right here.
- It is a hedgehog.
- Hedgehog. Put it with our other hedgies.
- All righty.
I don't consider myself a leader,
so I don't mind that he's taking it on.
Fire will be next.
- Fire, nice. All right.
- Got dry stuff to get a fire going.
All righty.
These guys are gonna
burn themselves out too.
They are.
Oh yeah. Sundown.
I think that's it. I think we're good.
-I body slammed a tree
-Hey, let's chop more tomorrow.
You guys will get burnt out real quick.
Well, this is the last
good burn fire tree.
I'm sure we'll find
find some more tomorrow.
Eric's definitely trying
to step into the leadership role.
By your lead, sir.
But I'm a loner.
I never really had a boss.
So I don't necessarily take
uh, being told what to do real well.
I think I'mma walk up there,
see if there ain't no damn wood.
- Do you want to do that?
- Yeah, what the hell.
Yeah.
There's definitely potential
for me and him to bump heads.
I don't know where we're going.
It feels
like a happy family, you know?
It is a happy family.
On the same shore
is neighboring Team Charlie
Good picking, Julio.
who have opted to set up shelter
on much higher ground.
-Right up there is probably our best bet.
-Yeah, this is by far the best spot.
Yeah.
This is teamwork.
And no one got in a fight.
- Amazing.
- No. No.
There's no arguing here.
I like the fact that already,
we're communicating.
-Bouncing ideas off each other.
-Yeah.
There's no leader, man. We're all leaders.
Agreed.
You know, we're not the 6'3",
camoed-out, alpha West Texas guys.
-Yeah.
-But we all have something to give.
-Let's keep communicating.
-That That's how you win.
If something irks you,
let's talk about it.
Because I think if we just stay tight,
and just keep
that positive energy and smile
- Like, smiling is medicine.
- Okay.
- opposite.
- Let's get going.
So if you guys want to start
gathering things to start the fire,
-we'll start working on the shelter.
-For structure
I mean, in my mind,
I see an A-frame.
- Hemlock is a good
- An A-frame's a good idea if we can do it.
And it'll take excavating some ground.
We'll have a dig stick.
The boughs of a hemlock is going to be
nice to build more of wood, raised beds.
So, last couple of ideas, um
I get up to go to the bathroom.
Keep that in mind.
Do you think this is cedar?
What do you think this is?
- Smell it.
- Guys, we only have four hours.
We don't have a lot of time.
All right, let's do this.
Shelter time.
Sleeping spot is right here,
because this is the flattest spot.
I was in the military for six years.
In the military, you have a clear leader.
You have structure.
-Where's your ridgeline?
-What's that?
So you guys want it, like, right here?
Or right here?
Oh, I thought you had the knife.
Sorry.
It's obvious that that is not
the structure of Charlie Camp.
Before we cut any paracord,
can you look at this first?
- Yeah.
- Okay.
This is good.
We can just tie it up higher.
- Yeah.
- We just keep it folded over.
- Yeah. Okay.
- For right now.
Until we do something bigger.
I think I will emerge as a leader,
even though I might not
have as much life experience.
Um, I put that Y stick over next to you.
-Can you grab that, please?
-All righty. Okay.
Because without leadership roles, there's
no way of making it to the winning prize.
- We'll use paracord?
- Yeah.
We'll just pull this out.
Then we want that notch
probably facing the other way.
I do think for sure
that Bri fancies herself as the leader,
and would like to be the leader.
We should probably
be facing it this way.
- So the stake, instead of this way
- Uh, yeah.
The paracord is going to go around this.
-Right.
-And then
But I'm saying
if this is facing that way,
it'll probably hold better than if it's
facing the direction that it's pulling.
Does that make sense?
No.
Because there is
a lot of micromanaging that's happening.
- Where's that hatchet at? We'll find it.
- I haven't had it.
Let's try to keep stuff
in a consolidated spot.
So if we put something down, let's keep it
with all the rest of our things, please.
However, for us, Charlie Team,
we are working as a
as a roundtable and as a committee.
Guys, we are, like,
running out of sunlight.
Did you guys hear me?
- We have three hours.
- We got it. Yeah.
Um, okay.
All right. Let's get a fire.
- Before it gets dark.
- Yeah.
With nighttime
rapidly approaching,
the race to get
a fire started intensifies.
We need to go get some wood.
But this temperamental rainforest
- We gotta work fast here.
- presents unexpected hurdles.
God, this just feels so wet.
The driest wood we could find
is this not-very-dry stick.
This'll take a minute.
Cool.
Basic fire skills alone
Got some smoke going.
will not be enough
to solve this wet puzzle.
, for a second.
- Shouldn't we have it there?
- Well, but fire goes up.
Right. I'm sorry, Meghan,
but your moving it from there to there
is gonna have a breeze
blowing any little flame out.
I've done it that way a million times.
But you wanna set it down there?
-Set it down.
-Let's try your way.
Wall here.
I started pulling stones
for the fireplace.
Think any of the other camps
got fire already?
I don't see any smoke.
I knew it was gonna be tough out here.
All right.
See that? And I got more to come.
We were all working at the fire.
Tre worked at it for a while.
It's going to take a while,
but we'll get it.
I mean,
I worked at it for a long time.
Nothing we can't do.
But Bayo's the one
that stayed there and kept going
and kept going and kept going.
He wouldn't quit.
Yeah.
Keep going.
- Yeah, boy!
- Bring it.
Let's go!
Let's go! Look at that, baby.
I feel like, uh
A million bucks?
I do feel like a million bucks.
That is right! Whoo!
Oh, that is a beautiful sight, man.
While Alpha Team celebrates
being the first team
on the game board to have fire
- at neighboring Team Bravo
- I smell something burning.
Drew's idea to use a pot
as a wind blocker
There it goes.
Oh, yeah, she's rolling now.
pays off.
- Yeah. We got a fire going.
- Sweet!
Nice work, guys.
This environment is wet.
I know it's cold, it's unforgiving.
So far everybody's pulling their weight,
doing great.
We're kicking ass.
There we go.
Across the bay,
teams Charlie and Delta
are still struggling.
God, a shotgun
isn't even working.
Keep it going. Keep it going.
It's gonna go out. Dang it!
I'm just gonna keep shredding
some stuff down for you.
Delta Team's technique to use
long, thinly processed wood shavings
does the trick.
- That was a good idea, folks.
- That was a fantastic idea.
Day one, and I have to say,
our team is solid.
I may have fallen, like I said, into
the leadership role, and I'm glad I did.
I mean,
I worked really hard on our shelter,
worked really hard
on getting a fire going.
We're here to win.
Good to see some fire.
It sure is pretty.
As the temperature drops,
and the cold, damp air rolls off the bay,
starting a fire
becomes even more difficult.
I know.
It's freaking demoralizing, right?
Yeah.
And Charlie Team has no source
of heat to keep them warm.
Oh, you guys, this ground is cold.
This is really,
really uncomfortable.
It's so cold.
Yeah, it just
it feels, like, debilitating to me.
I'm, like, about to want to go home
because I'm so cold.
- Put my winter jacket on, Emily.
- Yeah, get warm.
Get by the fire.
It worries me that Emily said
she's so cold, she wants to go home.
Yeah, let's let that build up
for a minute.
You guys, thank you. I'm sorry.
- Don't be sorry.
- We're a team.
- We do team shit.
- Thank you.
Oh, shit.
That ground is cold!
We're in Alaska,
with a fire and a shelter.
We got most of the puzzle.
I'm proud of y'all.
It's a wolf.
- Uh-oh.
- Oh, there's more than one.
I'm a little worried about bears.
"Da Bears."
"Da Bears."
I'm so cold.
It is freaking freezing.
I'm so cold.
Well, guys, I'm hoping that
we have some mother-effing fire tomorrow.
First night in the bag.
First night.
Nobody wanted to say they were cold,
they wanted to seem tough,
but we were cold.
We have a lot of work to do today.
Get firewood.
And I'm going to get us
some actual calories.
-Fire.
-I'm ready for some squirrel.
- A lot of cuddling last night.
- Some whimpering.
There was some whimpering.
My first night at Charlie Camp was cold,
to say the least.
We were in a wind tunnel with our shelter
in the Alaska wilds with no fire.
- Our priority tonight is to have a fire.
- Today. Today.
Sorry, yeah, today is to have a fire.
-Yeah.
-Let's get to work.
All right.
- The first night's the hardest night.
- Dude, it was so cold last night.
Going to get all the roofing material here
for the shelter.
Super important today.
Going to feel
like home in no time.
I was waking up,
and look over at that fire.
I had to blow on it
and get it going again.
First night went pretty good.
Heard a lot of, "Oh, I'm cold."
I'm a little chilled right now.
It's not even cold yet.
The whole time, it's just going
to get worse and worse and worse.
Came with 14 extra pounds,
I think I lost two last night.
There's a squirrel right there.
- Should we put the bow together quick?
- Yeah, we can.
I'll wait 'til you're at a stopping point,
because I've never put a bow together.
You know, here we are in day two,
and I picked a bow hunter who introduced
themselves to me as a bow hunter.
That squirrel is running around
there. Sorry, that's all I'm looking at.
- Want to go get it?
- Yeah.
Can we get a squirrel with our hands?
Is that okay?
We can't shoot it?
We can, but that's hard.
That's a really small target.
At first, she was really adamant
about her bow hunting skills.
I'm glad you're here to set up this bow.
I've never done this. I'm gonna watch you.
The girl didn't know
how to string the bow.
I don't know how to string a bow,
but I don't wear a sign that says
I'm a bow hunter either.
Okay, here's the string.
That's all you.
Okay.
Is this an arm guard?
- Yes.
- Okay.
I can't stop looking at the fire.
I'm like, I got a fire.
We got shelter.
We're not doing bad.
With fire and shelter secure,
Team Delta turns their attention
to another major need.
-If we had water, I'd be happy.
-Yeah.
I'd be happy.
With their provided water gone,
they will need to find
a source of fresh water.
- We'll head out to find water.
- You need something to carry water.
- Y'all gonna need the pot?
- Or can or something.
Bring the pot and the can.
I mean, yeah, grab the can.
You're going to grab your purse too?
-I'm ready.
-Come on, man.
Come check this out.
Look at that. That's deer.
-It's buck.
-The big one.
Look how fresh that scat is.
Maybe we ought to be quiet.
Animal's gonna lead the way, so
They're gonna always stay close
to the fresh water.
Let's roll.
If I get too far, holler.
I'm trying to follow
the path of least resistance.
I hear something.
I can hear it.
Yeah. So if we keep walking,
we'll be able to fill
all the cups and pots up.
I'm overheating again.
You just live to sweat.
That's what you do.
I'm just too hot for this world.
You're too hot, man.
Big boy. He too hot.
My boy, Mountain Man.
How come you keep calling me Mountain Man?
It just feels right.
Feels right.
Oh. Oh, Joseph.
I I like the heck out of Joseph.
He's a good-hearted kid.
Seems like he wants to work.
I think he's going to be a great benefit
to the team.
Oh, Mountain Man, look.
Bam! We got water.
- Found the water?
- Yeah.
After four hours of searching,
Joseph and Brendon
have finally found a fresh water source.
But it's over two kilometers
from their camp.
This means every time
they need to refill their supply,
they will need to make
an hour-long round-trip hike to get there.
Ready to get back?
Lookit, we burning daylight.
That walk sucks for water.
With the basic resources
of fire, water, and shelter now in place,
Alpha begins to wonder about the location
of their nearest competitors.
-All right. Let's go.
-Let's go see.
Four of us
are a solid team, but, uh,
in a game like this,
it's not just about survival. You've gotta
worry about the other teams as well.
Show yourselves.
Are they hiding in the bush
'cause they're afraid?
Oh, there, I see two,
you guys. I see two.
- That got you right in the face.
- Right in the face, dude.
Oh, my bad.
No way.
- Is there someone on the beach?
- Yeah.
There's got to be two more.
Unless they flared out.
- I see 'em.
- Where are they at?
Twelve o'clock from me.
How's it going?
- That's Alpha.
- That's them.
For sure.
They do have all four players.
Yeah, nobody's shot a flare yet.
They know we're thriving.
They see the fire.
Do I believe
that we can outlast everybody else?
Definitely.
But this is a game.
We need to get some players out of here.
-I want to scout out Bravo.
-We got to play it smart, though.
- Yeah.
- Yeah.
I'm not afraid to shake shit up.
We got to go over there with some food
like we just walked out of McDonald's.
Yup.
We're Alpha. We dominate Alaska.
We have to go over to Bravo.
Let's make it back.
I hear them coming in.
I'm dragging ass.
How'd it go?
I'm taking my time.
We got a lot of water though.
- I feel like a whupped dog.
- Yeah.
Thirsty whupped dog.
First thing I want to ask,
did we leave with a can?
You did.
I knew we did.
It was probably by the water
when I took everything out
to fill everything up.
-If it's there, we'll get it next time.
-Yeah.
- I got a strong feeling of where it's at.
- I didn't see it.
That whupped my ass.
I ain't going to lie.
I'm going to sleep good tonight.
I'm upset about the can.
I'm going to have my words.
- Yeah.
- Now.
Sorry if I'm going to be a dick.
Not to be that guy,
but damn it, you lost a can.
Yeah, it's
That puts us at four people
drinking out of one can.
- It's over there.
- It takes three to ten minutes
It ain't lost, it's down there.
- Let's go get it.
- No.
I ain't going.
I'm happy you guys got water,
but god damn, man.
God damn.
Yeah.
Sometimes it's like that, bro.
Yeah, I know it is.
Sacrifice one thing to get another.
I'm noticing Chef, my boy Eric,
he has the knowledge to be a leader,
but one thing I know, man,
when you do things in a nice manner
and you talk to people in a nice manner,
it gets a lot more done than yelling
and, you know, pointing the finger,
so I did not like that, man.
He getting cranky.
-Hm?
-Starting to feel cranky.
Right now, I ain't good for nothing.
Me neither. I'm done.
No, I'm done.
Goddamn it.
I lost the flashlight again.
I think last night
was the coldest night yet.
At least nothing's wet inside.
It has been raining pretty much nonstop,
and it's been really cold.
Got him.
Looks like meat's back on the table, boys.
We'll boil this down,
get as much nutrients as we can.
-So good.
-Mmm.
- Oh my gosh.
- We got a squirrel.
We got a squirrel.
The fire battle is not the battle
that I thought we would be having
through day four.
Go, dude! Come on, man!
You know what?
I'm going to put a pin in it.
Pretty frustrated.
Our team just talks a lot
about what we should be doing,
and not getting fully into action.
And I feel like that's really limiting.
Across the bay,
Bravo Team forages for shellfish
- Big one there.
- That one looks nasty.
which are plentiful but risky,
due to toxins in the water.
-That tastes like an oyster.
-Dude, they're good.
Meanwhile, Alpha
settles for some sea slugs
It's a little juicy.
while waiting for Zach's
bow hunting experience to finally pay off
with safer, land-based protein.
Dang it.
I'm just mad at myself
that I haven't killed any squirrels yet.
I don't want to let my team down.
It scares me, honestly.
Well, I'm going to head over and check
the snares on the way back to camp.
What are you making?
Uh, we need a spoon.
Yeah.
-We just need some protein.
-Yeah. We need some good protein.
I need some right now.
Zach, the professional bow hunter.
All he talks about is,
"I killed this back home,
and I killed that,
and I'm a badass with my bow and arrow."
And he's been going out hunting
Gosh dang it.
and he's been coming back empty-handed.
- Yeah.
- I want something that's not plant life.
Everybody's hungry.
Everybody wants to eat.
And so I'm going hunting today.
As a trapper, I don't bow and arrow.
I'm not into archery.
But I had to take charge.
Here.
All right.
-Traps are coming along?
-Yep.
How's the fire?
Fire's good.
How'd your hunt go?
- Yeah, dude.
- Look at that!
I'm really in shock because,
literally, he had never even
shot a squirrel, and let alone with a bow.
He told me.
Nothing gets away from Trapper Bayo.
Whoo hoo!
You know, I'm sure he was happy
that he had killed one before I did,
but, uh, anybody can get lucky,
and we're going to eat red meat,
and I am stoked about it.
Bayo. Come here.
Dah-dah-dah-dun ♪
Let me taste that.
Oh boy, does that look good.
- Look at that.
- Here you go, buddy.
Oh my gosh.
Oh.
Ohhh.
Who's the real hunter here?
Who's the badass?
Not you, bud.
Trapper Bayo.
Damn!
Tastes like dark meat from a chicken.
- Tastes good.
- It's so good.
Thank you, universe. Thank you, Bayo.
Need a spoon. We need a spoon.
All right, guys.
When the tide gets a bit lower,
do you guys want to go over to Bravo?
- I'm down.
- So
- Talking to me?
- Do you want to go over to Bravo?
Somebody got to keep an eye on the fire.
- Yeah, somebody needs to stay.
- Okay.
Never know.
Y'all go and run over to Bravo,
and they got a creeper
coming around y'all backside.
They be like, "Hey, everybody's here.
Let's go rob them early."
Dude, we gotta see
their freaking camp.
- Yeah.
- I want to see what's up.
I'd like to play the approach,
since they're on our same side, the
Friendly approach?
Yeah. Go in there friendly.
Make it cordial.
You You think
they're going to be nice to us?
They are!
So far, I've given Zach
the benefit of the doubt.
He's been trying hard,
but it's the game.
You got to bring on the game.
It's time for me to play the game my way.
I like the idea
of maybe an alliance.
If they look like they're doing strong,
I'd rather have an alliance
with a team that looks strong.
We don't have
an ally right now on our side
to help us with anything,
or for us to help them.
And having an alliance is a way
and a means to get more food
and being able to make it longer
on this competition.
Sleeping on the ground'll
do a number to you.
That feels so good.
It feels like
we're working our asses off.
It's so hard too,
without calories.
We need some food.
I'll I'll make a water run.
Okay.
We got, like, seven little angel wing
mushrooms here for you, Sammy.
- Really?
- Yeah.
Hola.
- What up, guys?
- How you doing?
Alpha Team is thriving.
So, being friendly
I don't think so.
- What's up, buddy?
- What's up, man?
-What's going on?
-How's it going? Y'all collected food too?
- No. We brought you gifts.
- Some breakfast.
-Really?
-Squirrel head and mushrooms.
-No way. You got a squirrel?
-Bayo did.
Have you guys been, uh
Dang, dude. How'd you get it?
- That's awesome.
- Bow and arrow.
-Can I see?
-We got two archers.
That is sick, dude. Check it out.
- We're like, "Let them boil it."
- Thank you so much.
Those mushrooms,
they don't know what they're called.
I let them eat them first yesterday,
then I ate them this morning.
- They've been fine so far? Cool.
- There's a ton of those mushrooms.
- Hey, you're Julio?
- Oh man. Some fat in that head.
- No, Bayo.
- It's gonna be great.
- Bayo?
- Yeah.
- Oh, my bad.
- Oh my God.
- Just you guys coming over to visit?
- Yeah.
- Yeah, check out the crib.
- Nice. Welcome.
You, uh, you taking our stuff?
Got 'em. Confiscated.
Part of the game.
Yep.
Yo, yo.
So, where
He took the cans and the pot.
I got 'em. Confiscated.
- Huh?
- Confiscated.
Oh my goodness.
- You can't take 'em. We'll grab 'em back.
- We're done here.
Yo, Drake. Come on up, please.
Bayo's stealing our shit.
- Eat shit.
- I'll eat you.
- I'm coming!
- You'll get what's coming to you.
So, I'm caught off guard.
That was not our plan as a team.
You idiot.
