So, what you're probably thinking is, "how do you get a start in radio?" Cate, why don't you tell them how this all began, Back in our days at, uh, z-rock? I was a production assistant.
Production assistant? Low man on the totem pole.
I, on the other hand, Was the host of the afternoon show.
You see, cate's main job was To bring the on-air talent coffee and doughnuts.
How many times did you manage To do your job and bring me coffee and a doughnut? Zero.
So, eventually, at some point, We had to ask cate point blank, "do you even want this job?" And the answer was Of course I didn't want the job.
What I wanted, and what I've always wanted Was to be on the air.
So they put me on, Uh One afternoon, From the booth, to banter with ryan.
Yeah, and, oh, by the way, she-she bombed.
big time.
Yes, and I realized I had a lot to learn.
That instead of being so focused on where I wanted to be, I should be ready when I got there.
So the next time that I got the opportunity I would be ready.
So, a couple years later, I'm at k100, and I had The opportunity to pick a new co-host, And I remembered cate.
I remembered how she knew what she wanted, And how she wasn't afraid to fail and try again, And how she'd-she'd taken The time to just step back and learn.
So I chose her.
That is why I wanted to work with her then, And that is why I still do.
Where's lux? I don't know.
I should have told you the truth about Who I was.
But if I had, we would have never gone to the ocean, And I would be engaged right now, Without ever knowing that there was More.
Now, I know that billboard was just a billboard, Not really the ocean.
And you were just a guy Who was being nice, Not a guy that actually liked me.
And maybe I just I don't know the difference anymore Between what's fake and what's real.
And-and that's not your fault.

But somewhere along the way, I stopped trying, Because I knew, on some level, That I could never be just like him.

You know, I've had a hard time admitting what I want.
And I've lost things Because of that.

I may not have the right rÃA©sumÃA© or credentials, But I'm a hard worker, I'm determined, and I'm fearless Because, believe me, I have nothing to lose.
