Outlast (2023) s02e02 Episode Script

Season 2, Episode 2

1
That was not
what we talked about, bro.
That's not the game
we were trying to play.
Bayo put us in a terrible position
with our neighbors,
the only people that has access to us.
- We are okay. We're still okay.
- We're fine.
This is gonna be fine.
I think it was a mistake.
There's gonna be retaliation, so
We didn't cut the head off the snake.
We poked the snake.
Oh my gosh!
- That makes me so mad.
- Yep.
Mother ! Bayo's a!
I was so mad,
I wanted to just run up and spear him.
I didn't come to play a dirty game, but
you kick this cage, this dog will bite.
The captain, Zach, gets upset.
I don't know why he's upset,
because we needed to attack.
That brings us more power,
more cooking tools for us.
Mission accomplished.
I raced to Alpha.
I need to get everybody at camp
before Bayo gets there,
and tell them
we have a teammate we can't trust.
I think our only option is to vote him off
and force him to shoot his flare.
Hola.
Let's talk.
Did they keep Bayo?
Should've.
- I wish they would've.
- Oh.
What do you think
Bayo did on his own?
He walks in, grabs their pot,
grabs their two cans.
Oh.
It was so stupid.
It was a triumph.
It was a success as a mission.
We don't have to depend only on one can.
We gave them one can with the squirrel
head, so he only stole one can, basically.
And we're gonna have
to watch our back now the whole time.
- We gotta get payback.
- Let's go trash their entire camp.
Yeah. We're gonna get our shit
back, smash their shit too.
- He us.
- They hate us now.
He did nothing against them,
and screwed us.
That was the biggest
bitch move ever, dude.
I am an "eye for an eye" person.
You steal from me,
I'm gonna you up.
I'm gonna solve
the problem right now.
I'm pissed. I don't trust him at all now.
I don't want him on my team.
The only way we win,
honestly, is we vote him off.
You gotta break it down
for us, my boy.
I need to know
what your train of thought was.
How did it play out in your mind?
Well
I went there friendly.
And, uh, the opportunity got offered, man.
I don't like that you shit
on the whole team right there
and took matters into your own hands.
We need to get this game going, man.
You can't just get the game going
by doing something stupid.
- Stupid?
- Literally.
Let me tell you
- I don't like your comments. For real.
- I don't care.
We talked about playing with integrity.
So we're gonna have to be
watching our back now the whole time.
You started war way too early.
It's not a good idea to start a war
with the only people
you can contact right now.
Hey, they're coming over!
- They're coming this way?
- They're coming.
- Goddamn it.
- We're.
- We're really now.
- That was so stupid.
I'm gonna take their stuff back.
We're barely keeping up
with firewood, supplies,
and food is at a very low minimum.
So if we start a war with somebody,
we have a big target on our head now,
and we can't protect ourselves.
You just created
one of the worst possibilities.
It's making an enemy before we even know
what the game board is gonna look like.
I just wanna talk to these guys,
see where their heads are.
So, you know, as of right now,
everything I'm doing is to stay copacetic
and, you know, calm.
Somebody's walking over here.
It would be safer for us.
What's up, Texans?
Look, before anything's said,
that's not how we do shit.
That ain't how we jive either.
Yeah, so, we're just gonna
give all this stuff back.
And I promise you, 100%,
that has not been the plan.
We don't want any hostility.
- 'Cause we're the only ones over here.
- Right.
Yo, all I'm saying is
y'all got a snake in camp, dude.
-Bad dude.
-He's definitely a one-man ship.
Before he even finished explaining,
I told him I'm bringing it back.
We don't do that shit in Texas.
- No not at all.
- No.
So, as of right now, it's up for debate
if he'll be flaring out.
-If you wanna play a fair game
-Yeah.
then show it right now.
Show it right now.
- We see a flare, that will solidify.
- That'll bind our teams together.
Alpha and Bravo will be
the last two teams in this, bro.
But you've got to make that decision.
Right here, right now.
All right.
So, after talking to them
First of all, they were extremely excited
that we brought it back.
And even though all this shit's going on,
they're actually willing to,
you know, calm down,
you know, take it easy
until Delta and Charlie are gone.
But they said the only way
it can happen is if you flare out.
- So
- There it is. There it is.
They told me you took the stuff.
And to stand in front of them and be like,
"Now what are you gonna cook out of,"
and taunt them?
That's not what we talked about, bro.
From day one,
that's not what we talked about.
But it's part of the game, guys.
I mean, I don't see any plan or tactic
out of that at all.
Like, what was your plan?
Trust me, we have to play harsh.
My team is forgetting
that this is a game.
Let's handicap them.
Let's make them weak.
Let's make them flare out.
And my vote is,
I can't trust you at all now.
You're off.
-What do you mean?
-You're off our team. That's my vote.
My vote is with Zach
because I also don't believe
you're gonna act
in the best interest of the team.
My heart and soul is in Alpha Team.
Your heart and soul
might be in Alpha Team,
but your actions say the opposite.
Tre?
You didn't have the team at heart.
If you're here, they're still against us.
So you gotta flare out, my boy,
unless you find another team in 24 hours.
Yeah.
I'm going to have to accept,
uh, the decision of the team.
I feel betrayed.
I thought I had a team
but I didn't.
That's not my team.
If it's a mistake or not,
a team sticks together,
and they fight together, no matter what.
I really do appreciate everything.
The fire, the squirrel,
all the good stories and conversation.
I'm not saying you're not a loved person.
It's just, for the game's sake,
we can't do it.
At this moment, I have 24 hours.
I understand. It's a game.
All right.
Bayo, I mean,
I really do wish the best for him,
but it really would have hurt us
in the long run to keep him here.
On a team, trust is everything.
I came here to win the game.
It isn't worth the risk
of having him on my team.
Knowing that
I couldn't go back to Bravo,
and the other teams are across the bay,
what are you gonna do?
- What's going on over here?
- Can you see anything?
Their whole team's
standing out there.
That's what's going down.
My team,
my so-called team,
they think this is a tea party.
But your goal is to win.
And the type of team
that is gonna win this game
is the team
that's willing to do anything to win.
Either you like it or not,
I play the game my way,
and I'm at peace with myself.
No regrets.
Oh, there's a flare!
So long, thief!
A flare! That is a flare!
- That was a flare!
- There was a flare! Yo!
- It wasn't us!
- Did you see it?
Yeah, baby!
Yes!
- There he is!
- What's going on?
Someone from Alpha just flared out!
Hell yeah!
Whoo!
It wasn't us, buddy.
Yeah!
And then there were 15.
That's a beautiful sight right there.
- Got what he deserved, man.
- Same-day karma.
- I love it.
- Wow.
Whoo-whoo!
Whoo!
Whoo!
Whoo-whoo!
- Now, it's hard to listen to.
- I get it, though.
We'd be doing the same thing
if the roles were reversed.
I don't blame them,
but it still hurts.
On the north side of the bay
Team Delta expands their shelter
with a bird's nest,
a woven structure to keep their fire
close to where they sleep.
You're going backwards.
I was going the opposite direction.
Yeah.
The pine needles are pointed down,
so the water will naturally
Go down. Okay.
I just like taking these little
branches like this and braiding them in.
- It's gonna be sick.
- I know.
I'll keep coming towards you, you come
towards me, we'll meet in the middle.
Teamwork.
Teamwork makes the dream work.
So glad you're on my team, man.
Me too.
-Just gotta keep our minds right.
-Yeah.
You can see I'm,
like, a little better today.
There's been some bickering
going on in camp, but seeing that flare,
you know, got our heads back in straight
and gathered back together.
I think Eric really needed that boost.
He's been, I think,
the lowest out of all of us.
And that flare for him, I think, was like,
"All right, this is getting real,
and maybe I can do this."
- The old birdhouse is looking good.
- Yeah.
- And then hot clam dinner tonight.
- Hot clam dinner.
Three kilometers
down the shore
- Do you need me to blow on it?
- I don't think you should that soon.
- There's enough breeze.
- The breeze is pretty bad.
six days in,
and Charlie Team still has no fire.
With temperatures rapidly dropping,
each day without fire
brings a risk of hypothermia.
Damn.
Try it again.
- Nobody's doing anything wrong.
- We're gonna get it.
So do we think the feather sticks
are enough to ignite?
How about we turn this
upside down,
and try to light it like that?
Yeah, or you just get it lit,
and we just turn it.
Okay. That works. It's the same thing.
- It'll probably be easier.
- Might be easier.
I think right now
there are too many hands in one pot.
Keep that feather stick above.
- I'll just leave it here. Is that okay?
- Well
- I'd wait.
- Yeah, I would wait too.
There's just too many people
trying to provide input.
It's all teamwork, man. We're
all trying, and we're all contributing.
It can be really frustrating when
there's a lot of talk going on,
and not a lot of action.
I was gonna go over there and put
my jacket over it to block the wind, but
We should get some,
maybe, more bough coverage right here.
So that might be what we're lacking,
is a clear leader on Charlie Team.
Maybe we should take five minutes,
take a breather, stretch your legs.
We can get back to it in a few minutes.
I just like to like to help.
Like to pull my weight.
What's not a better way than
feed people?
Ohhh.
Living in Alaska with no resources,
you gotta hunt for food every day.
If you don't find nothing,
you go to bed hungry.
Yep, got him.
Give me some of that.
I'm a country boy from Louisiana.
I'm a long way
from the swamps and cane fields,
hog hunting, catfishing, and all that.
But the thing is, my nickname is Bird Dog.
The reason they call me Bird Dog, I mean,
anybody that hunts knows
that bird dogs have high energy,
and they know to sniff out
any bird within the area.
They find it. They're going to find it.
So they call me Bird Dog
because if I leave out on a forage,
I'll come back with something
for the team every time.
You've got to find a little hole,
stick your finger in,
see which way the hole's going,
and you dig it.
Oh, yeah, real juicy one.
Night number five.
We are warm.
We have cracked the code.
Fire right in the middle of our
What's it called, Sammy?
- Wickiup.
- Wickiup.
A lot of shit went down today.
First flare fired.
Damn. Bayo.
At this point, I don't think
- I can trust anybody.
- Yep.
We've got to keep
everything in the shelter.
Inside, yeah.
We got squirrel,
and we got crabs.
With the fire going, we're going to be
cooking one pot per person.
Our structure's almost there.
One more day of construction
and we're done.
With the fire in the middle.
Smokestack up top.
Drying some gloves and socks.
Feels good. No wind.
- You know we're the winning team, right?
- Yep.
Hope so.
Didn't come out here to lose.
Feels like I'm getting wet.
Hold on, let's see.
Oh, I'm soaked.
There's a huge puddle under me.
- I was wondering why it was so cold.
- You serious?
Yeah, I'm totally in water.
- There's a puddle?
- Yeah, I'm on a puddle.
Oh, dude. I'm so wet.
I can barely feel heat.
Now that we're down to three,
the thing I would be worried about
the most is the nights.
-The cold. Yeah.
-Warmth at night. Yeah.
I'm cold.
It is cold.
'Cause it's only getting colder
every single day.
Take your break, man.
You're gonna burn out.
Go ahead and lay on that.
That's what I'm saying. It's cozy.
We need to pack that tent with all of it.
I'm good with anything
as long as it don't stink.
My socks were pretty ripe last night.
That shit was sour.
Our team dynamic,
I think we all mesh very well together.
We're all joyful, happy goofballs
and it's been
a 100% team effort all around.
We could catch squirrels.
They pass along
that edge of that line every morning.
We all carry
some similar skill sets,
but we also bring something
different to the table too.
-Called a Mojave scissor trap.
-That's the one I want to learn to make.
- This works for a squirrel.
- Okay.
I really like Joseph.
I really like his attitude.
Just trying to learn everything he can.
Basically, all you're doing
is taking two sticks like this,
and you tie the bottom down here
so it can leverage,
but when it goes off,
it'll cam up just like this
and it'll pin their head
right in between it.
-For real?
-Yeah, it's a killer, man.
Being a professional trapper
is what I do for a living.
This is a bit different,
not having steel traps,
but relying on primitive trapping.
But, um, I feel pretty confident
in my skill level.
Hat trick, baby!
You killing it, dawg.
Thank you, my friend.
We're killing it.
Is that chicken of the woods?
That is chicken of the woods.
- It don't look bad.
- Found a chicken of the woods!
I ain't gonna say lucky,
but we blessed.
- We've been blessed.
- Blessed as hell.
-I'm not a firm believer
-You will be by the end.
I
Mm, smells decent.
Put this on the old menu tonight.
No food.
Pretty good spirits, though.
I honestly don't think we have
We don't have two days in us.
Maybe even one.
We need fire.
We're, like, failing
right out the gate.
I think
we should check out Delta,
and take a look around their camp.
If they got a fire going,
maybe we could learn from them.
I don't think any of us anticipated having
this much of a struggle starting fire,
but I think, um, we need to think
a little bit more outside the box.
We're gonna to Delta and say,
"Delta, what is it you do?" Okay.
Do you both want to be
Charlie reps to Delta?
You guys are smart, you guys know
how to talk, you know how to make friends.
I think it's important to say
Let's say we have fire.
Yeah. Okay.
If we don't get a fire going,
and we don't have
an alliance with another team,
we're kind of screwed.
-Good luck.
-Bye.
All right, this will be
an adventure.
Whoo!
- Look at that fire now.
- Ripping in there.
Okay, my fingers are
regaining feeling. It feels really nice.
Man, I am losing weight at a rapid pace.
Dude, I don't even want to look at me.
I'm having to tighten my belt
every two days.
I felt my belt was loose
this morning also.
We're all getting really hungry, and you
can hear all of our stomachs growling
and aching at night
when we're in the shelter.
These past few days,
I've been really itching for some meat.
The protein we're getting
from the mushrooms,
that's super crucial,
but we need to get more.
Mostly meat, really.
So I kind of want to set some traps.
I'm going to see
if I can catch us something to eat.
There's a lot of food out here,
but it takes a lot of patience and skill.
My passion for survival
started in high school
when we would take small trips
on the Appalachian Trail.
I've always been running off
and learning my own skills,
and learning the plants and all the fungi.
The good thing about these, they're
hair-triggered. So I got a limpet in here.
Hopefully the squirrel goes for that,
collapses the bait stick,
releasing the toggle, and drop the rock.
Smack. Dinner.
Looks pretty good.
Along the northern shore
of the bay,
Meghan and Bri of Team Charlie
look to make contact
with their nearest neighbors
at Camp Delta.
Mm, I'm kind of nervous. Are you nervous?
-No.
-Introduce ourselves.
It's really just about saying hello.
Like, starting a relationship,
check things out and have a conversation.
We have not had any signs
from any of the other teams.
This is the entrance. This way.
- In there?
- Yeah.
I think we share a shore with Delta Team.
- Keep going.
- Okay.
We kind of know,
generally, where they are,
but we haven't seen them.
Damn, where are they?
There's a lot of talk amongst Charlie
about what the other teams
might look like.
What they have that we don't have
and what they've done that we haven't.
- I smell fire.
- Yeah.
- I definitely smell fire.
- I sure do. Yup.
Yeah.
That might work good.
You almost done with that hatcharoo?
Yeah, give me a few more swings.
I am just gonna hang out
and eat and drink and be merry today.
I see them.
Hello. Charlie Team coming in.
Permission to enter your camp?
I guess so.
I guess so.
My first initial thought was,
"Damn it, don't interrupt me now."
We got company.
Charlie Team is here. Two of 'em.
We're all happy where we're at,
getting things done.
We're eating, we're drinking.
So let's not get involved
in other people's business.
Hi, guys.
I promise
we come in peace.
We really just came over to be like,
"How's it going over here? What's up?"
I love what you guys did
with your home. This looks amazing.
We've been good.
We did all right. We got fire.
- I'm a chef so I'm cooking
- We didn't know.
and making fun things.
That's amazing.
We found some alder,
so we're gonna smoke some stuff.
-Yeah. Wow.
-Did you guys hunt and kill anything yet?
No, we're setting up snares today.
Yeah, we're setting up snares today.
We've been observing the squirrels.
They're delicious.
We're just whacking them out of the trees.
- Second day, I killed one.
- Yeah.
Amazing. I'm excited for you.
That's awesome.
As Bri and I take a look
around their camp,
I notice we are way behind.
They had a glorious fire,
their clothes hanging out,
a very nice structure.
Uh, apparently, they have been
eating like kings.
They had a huge bucket of, like, clams.
How long did it take you guys
to make a fire the first day?
Uh, we did not get it the first day.
- What?
- No.
- Slept without fire?
- Yeah.
No. Well, we made fire,
but then it actually
We are in a really windy spot.
It's windy over there.
So, yeah.
Tell you what, you make it through
a night or two without fire
I mean, we just snuggled.
We're fine. Yeah.
I'm gonna be honest, it's not that bad.
They got to be suffering at Team Charlie.
I can't even imagine.
There aren't a lot of berries over there.
We found, like, seven, and I'm like,
"I'm fermenting them to make wine."
Hearing what they were
going through,
doesn't sound like
they have a very solid team.
- Yeah. All right, well
- We should head out.
We should probably head out,
because we do have a lot to get done.
They haven't eaten much,
haven't killed any squirrels.
They have a very windy shelter area.
- Nice to meet you.
- Be careful on the way back.
-We will be careful.
-See you guys.
I feel like we'll see another flare
in the next couple days.
- Nice meeting you.
- Nice to meet you as well.
See you guys soon.
-All right, guys. Take care.
-Be safe. Good luck.
Well, something to aspire to.
-There we have it.
-Yeah.
A bucket of clams.
They brought in
a bucket of clams.
There's little crab parts everywhere.
I love my team,
and I would like to think that we could
make it to the finish line together.
Their reaction when we were like,
"We didn't have fire the first night."
Yeah. We don't need
to tell them, "Uh, every night."
But until we have that fire going,
we can't cook food. We can't boil water.
We can't eat.
And after seeing Delta,
I can either just stand by
and watch everything that's happening,
or I can just start
making decisions for myself.
We're gonna break Joey's heart
when we come
He's gonna be bummed.
I know.
We'll have to break it to him gently.
-"We have some tough news for you, Joey."
-"They have fire."
"Not only do they have a fire,
but it's glorious."
"It's a glorious fire."
We are not going
to let this whole thing hurt us.
We've gotta keep going. We've gotta
make this happen. I have faith.
Hey, Zach,
you want to come have breakfast?
Sure.
That yarrow tea
was actually pretty damn good.
So we gathered, um, mushrooms.
A sample platter I put together.
- A little pu pu platter of mushrooms.
- Yeah.
We got gummy bears of the forest here.
Zach, you want one of these?
Yeah, I'll try one.
- Yeah.
- Yeah, these are crazy.
How is it, anti-vegetable man?
It really tastes like Jell-O.
-Like 100% like Jell-O.
-Yeah. Exactly, right?
If we can find blueberries, find those
mash them together,
we'll have blueberry Jell-O.
- Yeah. That would be delicious.
- All right.
I love having three people
on the team, I'm not gonna lie.
It's so much nicer.
There's space in the tent.
You're gonna
keep this fire roaring?
Absolutely, that will be my job.
And there's no butting of heads
between the two males that are most alpha.
Honestly, I just think our team
is going to work much better together now.
-Coming back with dinner.
-Deer, squirrels, birds
That's what we're looking for.
I think that Zach has a lot of strengths.
You know, he's a good hunter.
He has a positive personality.
And now that Bayo's gone, I'm putting
my faith in Zach and his bow and arrow.
This is freaking gorgeous.
And it's totally different terrain
than anything I've seen here.
I think the squirrels are all gonna be
by the beach in the bigger trees,
but we could get lucky.
We got a super heavy game trail
coming up right here.
They're old, super old,
but those are deer rubs.
The hardest part
of this competition for me
has definitely been
being away from my family.
I have three kids,
a six-year-old, a four-year-old,
and then I actually have
a three-month-old baby girl named Asher.
You know,
I'm missing some of those firsts,
and I'll never be able to get those back.
I can hear the creek.
It's a life-changing amount of money,
right, if you win the show.
Basically, putting food
or taking food off of my kids' table.
So, yeah, it's going to make me fight
a hell of a lot harder.
Just keep, keep grinding.
Play the game clean, and then
live in the moment and win this thing.
There's one squirrel I keep hearing.
There it is. A squirrel.
- What is it?
- Got another.
Yes! Let's go!
Damn, he's heavy. Let's go.
Getting another squirrel,
it honestly lifted my spirits.
I did, like, a 180 on, just, like,
the confidence of my team.
Oh my gosh. Great job, dude.
Eating red meat just shows
absolute dominance, in my opinion.
Man, that's awesome.
We're eating good tonight.
We are alpha dogs,
and we are here to kick ass.
Don't count us out.
It's okay.
- Take a breath if you need to.
- I had a little fire.
I'm so freakin' demoralized right now.
Yesterday when we went to Delta,
we did our best
to take a look around their camp,
and we noticed that
they had a huge fire pit.
So we built the pit,
and hopefully this works.
- Damn it.
- Hey.
Think of how amazing
it's going to feel when we get this, dude.
Do not give up.
I really, sincerely think
No, this stuff's wet.
if Charlie can't get
a fire started,
it's the bitter end
of the entire Charlie squad.
Underneath it almost flared up.
I mean, we got embers.
I feel like it's so close.
Got it. Got it.
No. I think it needs to go up.
The fire will build right here.
All hands were on deck,
and it was like a surgery, man.
- There we go.
- Small, little pieces now.
Just starting
with one little feather stick,
and just slowly piling things on.
- Oh! Oh! Oh!
- Yeah. Just let it build.
It just caught and caught and caught.
Yeah, I would teepee it.
And then it just took off, man.
Let's go, dude.
I'm getting smoke up my face.
A miracle has happened here today.
It is so hot.
It's so hot it's burning me!
- It's feather sticks, the pit.
- Let's go!
It's the right order of fuel.
So that is teamwork.
Freaking Bruce Springsteen
style, baby.
- Where's Bri?
- Bri!
- We've got fire!
- We've got fire!
So I've made
the very difficult decision
to leave Charlie Camp.
And I feel terrible about leaving
without telling them that I'm leaving.
But I do have to, like,
keep in mind that this is a game.
I am here to compete and win
a portion of a million dollars.
Having slipped away
from Charlie Camp unnoticed
Getting scared, as I probably should be.
Bri has chosen not to approach Delta,
the nearest camp,
but instead has opted to travel
the 12 km to the opposite side of the bay,
in hopes of finding a team
more in need of an additional player.
Oh, damn.
She is the first player
to attempt the journey
between the north
and south shores of the bay.
Two nights ago,
we saw Alpha Team shoot a flare.
So I'm heading that direction.
They have one less person doing labor.
Maybe they need help.
And also, if I went
to Delta or Bravo Team,
you have to consider
that the prize money is
going to be split
five ways instead of four.
So I don't know if they will accept me,
but Alpha Team only have
three members on their team.
And we only have 24 hours
to find a new team once we leave our team.
So I am fully committed to this jaunt.
There is no turning back.
I already left. I know I have to get to
those teams, and I'm not turning around.
- Nice.
- Oh, there's only two.
And No, three.
The biggest issue
that we're dealing with right now
would be getting some real girthy food,
like getting some actual food
in our bellies.
Yeah, buddy.
These little mud crabs, they're fine for
now, but the colder weather is on its way.
The more varieties of food
that we can find, and stuff to eat,
it's gonna better our chances
of staying here longer.
Twenty-nine crabs and two rocks.
That's not bad.
Oh my gosh.
I know Sammy's getting
a little sick of them,
but it's nice to have something.
Ooh.
Ooh.
Hey, it's something.
Catching the mouse in my Paiute deadfall
is a great little mental boost, you know?
Looks really appetizing.
Thank you, buddy.
I'll eat all of you.
Nature provides absolutely
everything you need
if you have the primitive
living skills and experience,
and that's all we need right now
to get through to the end.
Looks nice and clean.
Sammy is all around
just, like, a valuable asset to have.
Dude, this looks good.
Like, the last thing I wanted is a mouse,
but right now, that looks really good.
He knows what he's doing.
And also, he is a great team player,
willing to step up for the team.
Mmm.
Dude, that's so good.
- Oh my God.
- Wow.
- Little bit of red meat.
- Good job, Sammy.
Joey, you got to come here.
Um
- She's gone. I'm pretty sure she's gone.
- What do you mean?
Bri.
You noticed her stuff was gone?
No.
So, not surprising.
We all knew this was coming.
Man.
To lose an extra pair of hands,
especially at this stage
where we have so much
that needs to be done
It It It makes a difference. Like,
every drop in the bucket counts, man.
- One thing, though.
- Yeah.
How would she have established
communication with any other team
without us knowing?
How do we know
she's been accepted by another team?
Yeah.
Well, maybe that's
what she's doing right now.
After we went to Delta,
I get Bri starting to wonder,
"Ah, should I jump?"
because we're struggling.
She's playing the game
like anybody else.
We are all definitely
feeling the fatigue
of little sleep, little water, no food.
- Everybody's struggling.
- The thing she doesn't realize
-is that she's part of the struggle.
-Yeah.
I mean,
where's the fire starting from her?
Where's the bow hunting?
Yeah.
She's gonna have to go on the roadshow.
And sell herself.
And I will say,
she's darn good at
at, um, selling the skills she has.
I haven't seen all of them, but
But let me say this.
I think she's taking a risk in going over
saying, "Will you please take me?"
So if she's rejected,
her only choice is to come back here
or keep asking around.
- I'm not taking her back, guys.
- Oh, no.
We all have choices.
But I do hope
she's the next one to flare out.
-Yeah.
-Okay, let's get to work.
Yeah. Knuckles?
We're almost on the same side
of the water as Alpha and Bravo.
Finally.
To the west,
Bri has rounded the gulf of the bay
on her 12-kilometer hike.
What a haul.
I took a really big risk, and I put myself
in a very vulnerable situation.
In order to make it
to the nearest camp on the south shore,
she still has an additional
seven kilometers to travel,
and is starting to feel the effects
of the grueling hike.
I left Charlie
with no food and no water,
and I knew that this would be strenuous.
I would get just winds of exhaustion.
My heart rate would just skyrocket.
I could feel it just pounding.
And I could hear it. I could hear
my heart pounding in my ears.
And so at this point,
I am getting extremely thirsty,
and so the entire time,
I'm only thinking about water.
I'm looking for water sources,
and I heard this little stream.
So I looked over.
Oh, yes.
And I saw just enough water
coming down through some moss to drink.
Yes.
This might be bad for me,
but I'm going to do it anyway.
I won't know if I could get sick from this
or catch a disease
from a dead animal upstream.
But it's really clear.
It's moving water.
It's really good.
If this makes me sick, I don't regret it.
But I think it's time to go.
The sun is rapidly going down,
and it is getting colder.
The last half mile, I'm so tired.
I'm just tripping over everything.
My concern right now is that I don't know
if I can make it over to Alpha Team.
So I know that Bravo Camp is much closer.
And all that I can think about is,
please, please take me in.
I'm homeless.
Hi.
Oh.
What's going on? Is it Brianna?
-It is. What is your name?
-Sammy.
- Yeah. Where'd you come from?
- Whoa. Hi!
- Um, Charlie Camp across the water. Hi.
- Hey.
Across the water?
-Yeah.
-Whoa. What?
All the way around the bay.
- Really?
- Yeah.
Hey, we got a visitor.
Come check it out.
Bri tells us she has walked all the way
from Charlie Camp to us.
I didn't know you could do that.
Whoa. You've been hiking all day?
Mm-hm. Yeah. I'm exhausted.
Damn. You need some water?
- That would be amazing. Thank you.
- Come in.
I was about to put water on to boil.
You could just tell
she was genuinely exhausted.
And I'm like, "Oh my God, girl.
Like, let's get you taken care of."
"Come in. Sit down."
Um
It was such a shock,
but I was super excited to see her.
Brianna, did you leave
your team for good,
or you just go on a walk?
Oh no, I left.
I've had probably 100 calories this week.
- And I just
- What have y'all been eating?
They didn't have fire
for five days.
- I told y'all.
- We didn't see smoke.
I told y'all
Charlie didn't have fire.
Everyone else on the team
talked about flaring.
You made the right decision.
If you're not ready to bounce out,
totally respect that.
I don't want you to feel pressured,
but if you guys are willing to have me
I think we should definitely
have a team meeting about it real quick.
Okay.
Can you imagine, like,
how bad the morale is over there?
That's great news for us.
- Yeah.
- Great news for us.
I mean, I think we're pretty set
on not having a fifth.
I'm pretty firm on it too.
I know the reality
of the situation that I'm in.
So if I'm forced to flare out tonight,
that would just
That would suck.
We're here today.
We're happy. We're, you know
Everybody's ready to go, and
-Top priority is finishing the shelter.
-I'm gonna keep working it.
We gotta seal it in.
We froze our asses off last night.
It just was not a good not a good night.
What's next is to prep.
We need a really good shelter
that stays warm, you know, all night.
The only thing I'm thinking for a chimney
is trying to fill in this gap right here.
Try to push it back
so we can leave the back covered,
so when the smoke comes up,
it'll come up that rock.
We need to keep that fire going.
I'll go cut boughs.
I gotta find some better boughs.
Now that we're down to three,
we're still cooperative and communicating.
I'm not afraid of this at all. We can win.
I trust Zach and Tre.
They take me for who I am, and it's cool.
I work hard. I do my job.
Zach has a good head on his shoulders.
With him as the leader
we got this.
