Who's at the door?

It sounded like it was
coming from behind here.
- Oop. You see that?

katrina: He believes that
you're demonic.
So this should really
piss you off.
[ laughs ]

jack: Before this land
was known as america,
nations and natives battled over
who could claim her abundance.
European colonialists
clashed for decades,
exploiting
the indigenous peoples,
spawning a cycle
of blood and betrayal.
And in this place,
the sins of yesteryear is led
to one of the bloodiest
massacres in history
[ screaming ]
Leaving a permanent wound
on the land.

okay, jack and I
are in lake george, new york.
This is our fort william henry
investigation.
♪♪
so fort william henry
was built mainly
because of a trade war
that was going on between the
french and the british -- mm-hmm.
And the french had built
a huge fort not far from here.
And so, the british decided to
build fort william henry.
You know, the fort, in its short
time that it stood,
saw a huge amount of tragedy.
You know, the french made
a lot of false promises
to the native americans,
especially the ones that they kind
of amassed into their army. Yeah.
The deal was you fight for us
and you could plunder
the fruits of war. Yeah.
And they didn't
really hold true to that.
So the french and the natives
attack the fort.
And after a six-day siege,
the british surrender,
the french basically
just let the british go
with all their plunder
promised to the natives.
The native americans decided
to ambush the british
and steal all their stuff.
And then they went back
to the fort
and killed everyone there
which was allegedly
hundreds of people
and then they burned it down.
So crazy, and ever since then,
people have been having paranormal
experiences -- absolutely.
For a really long time
and people have been
seeing, you know, soldiers,
obviously, is kind of the big one.
Yeah.
People have
a lot of late anomalies
that they see --
voices, things like that.
Is it just the soldiers?
Like, who else is there?
Why are they still there?
Is it the tragedy
or is it the fact that
because there was
such a tragic thing,
it's opened a doorway to allow
paranormal activity to happen?
- Yeah.
- I suppose.
So I think we're coming into
the fort looking to figure out
if the hauntings
at fort william henry
are spirits of people
who died in the massacre
or something that has been there
even longer.
Maybe something that actually
influenced the massacre into happening.

It's been on my list

Is this place, like,
a legendary spot to investigate?
Not a lot of people
actually come here
because it's kind of a
more isolated area. Yeah.
It's also a fort
and I don't think

But, for us,
they're shutting it down. Yeah.
So we actually have
the whole place
literally locked down
like a fort.
We are pulling into

You know, at times of war,
I don't think things are
cleaned up all the time.
So, I mean, you had a massacre
happening with 200 people
being killed,
slaughtered, skinned.
It's very possible that right
now we're standing on graves
that were never given
a proper burial.
This is the secret british

that only us brits know.

I was standing over
by the cannon over there.

Somebody came through the door
over there and called my name.
And I turned like this.
And I started walking
and I took about two steps
and it felt like somebody took
and put their foot
right underneath me
and tripped me.
And just then it felt
like somebody pushed me
at the same time. Wow.
I actually hit the ground
and slid from right here
all the way over
to the entranceway right there.
I just slid across the ground.
It's the first time I've really
been attacked by something. Yeah.
And being here,
I'm amazed every single night
at what people get.
People do get full body
apparitions, shadow people.
People get their hair
pulled a little bit.
And where's
the most active place?
Like if jack and I
wanted an experience,
where would we go?
For me, it would be down in the
basement, the casemate. Okay.
That's where the massacre took place.
Mm-hmm.
Just about everybody experiences
at least
something down in there.
Richard was talking about
how he was physically pushed
and slid across the lobby area.
I mean,
that's a very powerful spirit
that can do that.
That's something to really kind
of take heed to that warning
and be aware that
there is something
sinister and powerful here.

on my radar for a while.
So you do the history
and the paranormal?
Yeah, I do a little bit

The paranormal thing kind of
just fell into my lap.
What were your thoughts
on the paranormal
before you started working here?
- Huge skeptic. Huge.

This place made you a believer?
It really did.
I had some experiences here that
were just way out of the norm.

I love the gift shop,

enter here
through our main museum.

Although home today
to our main museum,
this was actually where
the soldiers would have slept
and stayed,
doing their daily activities.
And this would have been
the heart
of the fort
where we're standing right now.
Yeah, this was
the main barracks building.
This -- if you could imagine
this whole place
being filled with bunks,
soldiers sharing these bunks,
living in messes of six men.
Now were there also women
and children here?
Women and children as well
would've followed
their husbands from home.
And they would have lived here
in the fort, though?
- In the fort.
- Wow.
It's funny you try to put
yourself in those last moments
that people here had.
And so many of these people
that were here were young
and there were women
and there were children.
And I keep going back
to the terror
that people must have felt here
knowing that there wasn't
anything they could do.
So just to make clear,
we're in a replica right now. You are.
Okay. It's a reconstructed fort,
very much like the original.
- Right on the exact site.

This is a very accurate replica.
It looks pretty much
how it would have looked
when the original fort was here.
It could be significant
when it comes to the paranormal
because essentially the whole
building would be a trigger.
So where do we go from here?
We're gonna head
right upstairs here
to the second level of our
western barracks building.

and up here, believe it or not,
is where many of our staff
have the most uneasy feelings.

It doesn't really look
like a bad place. Right.
But a little

And then, of course,
you have ax heads
like down there
on the little shelf
if you want

Those were all found right
here at the fort onsite. Oh.
And to have some of
this stuff move

So to have them all, like,

where the massacre happened?
- Yeah.

jack: Granted, this is not
the exact structure.
It's built to the exact plans
that were found in britain,
but I don't think necessarily
it's about the structure here.
I think it's about this is
the ground it's built on.

this is our casemate.
This was actually built
to house 100 people.
We've done some experiments
down here.
- Like paranormal ones?
- Paranormal ones.
What's happened?
We've drawn chalk circles
around these bottles.
- Mm-hmm.

And the bottles have been
moved the next morning.
- Really?
- And then these names
used to be written in chalk
on the chalkboard
and we would come back
and every name
except for private jacob
hardy was erased. Really?
- Yeah.
- Now who's private jacob hardy?
Well, jacob hardy was a private
that had died here at the fort
during the siege and surrender.
It could have been
due to the massacre.
It could have been due
to sickness and disease.
- We're not quite sure.
- Wow.
And is there an account
of how many people
were actually down here and
when the massacre occurred? No.
Unfortunately,
there's no exact number.
Historians speculate
that there was anywhere
between 150 to 350 people
that died during the whole massacre.
Mm-hmm.
And that does include
some of those that perished
on the retreat southward
as the native americans
attack the column
that was retreating.
I'm still hearing it.
Yeah, it seems like movement over there.

There was a lot of movement

I mean, it sounded like someone

And I heard it continue down.

I actually had
a weird experience up there.
I was standing in that doorway
one night
actually waiting for richard
to finish up his ghost tour.
I got that weird feeling
like someone was standing there
and I heard those footsteps
just walk away, just like that.
- Oh, the same area?

- Interesting.
I was standing in that doorway
the one upstairs that we came in.
Upstairs, yeah.
- Entering the main museum.
- Yeah.
Huh.
What's interesting is rob said
he has heard this before
and that other people
have heard the same thing.
And I asked rob to point out
where those footsteps
would have had to be
and they would have had to be
right over over by
a case full of artifacts.
So I'm curious to see
if that case
has any significance
to our investigation.
Jack: We are going to
the powder magazine.
That's where they kept
all the gunpowder
and things that go boom.

we get quite a bit
of paranormal activity.
Guests and visitors
that come that say
they see soldiers in here.
One of our most infamous
pictures that was actually
taken here at the fort
was taken right back here.
If you take a look at that.

That's a man with an ax.
And where -- that would've been
right through here, right?
Right there in the back.

Where do we go to
from here then?
All right, so we're gonna head
right back out this tunnel.
This tunnel way actually
collapsed during the siege
so people could've potentially
been trapped in here as well. Mm.
Take note
that the stonework here,
now, this is original
to the fort.
- Oh, wow.
- The stone.
The stone, not the brick.
The brick was put in in the '50s
to fill in this wall.
So potentially, blood could have
been spilled on those stones.
- Absolutely.
- Wow.
These are the cannons we shoot every
day, jack. Wow.

so we're gonna head down
towards our eastern casemate.
Today we call it
our military crypt.

just like the western casemate
over here at the east casemate,
people were brought
downstairs for safekeeping
during the siege and surrender
and some of them
were actually found during
early excavations of the fort.
- There's like five bodies here.
- Wow.
One's missing a leg
and one's missing a head.
- Whoa.
- Did they just find five?
They found five here.
And then there were
several others
that were excavated out
and where our cemetery is today.
Yeah.
All of those bones
have since been packed up
and either reinterred
or still out with forensic
anthropologists for research.
Is it your belief that there are
more bodies here? At the fort? Yes.

a lot of times
in the paranormal,
we see a connection between
disrespected graves
or bodies and activity.
And I think fort william henry
is one of those places.
Jack: I think as the more
I'm learning about this place,
the more I'm understanding
as to why
it could be as haunted as it is.
It's an ongoing active
desecration site.
Rob had mentioned
that there are archives here,
which I'm really excited about
because going through those
and

I saw shadow
right here on this wall.
I mean, I saw it full on.
It wasn't even out of the side
of my eye, I saw it.
It just went And it wasn't
even a shape of a human.
I would say it was --
but it was tall
and kind of like oddly
shaped like this.

I don't have an answer for that.
I saw something.
During our tour,
I asked rob to point out
where those footsteps
would have had to be
and they would have had
to be right over
by the same area
where I saw the shadow.
So something seems active
in that area.

of our investigation.
We're gonna meet
with franky today.
She's a paranormal
investigator and psychic
and she apparently had
a weird experience at the fort.
And I am curious to see
what she has to say.
You know, it's more in line
with the historical hauntings
or this other layer
that seems to be emerging,
something much more powerful
than just the typical
historical location haunting.
And I'm not sure how all of that
fits together just yet.

My mom is extremely sensitive,
myself as well.
And so the last time
me and my wife were here,
it was about 10 years ago or so.
You know, we came through,

our little investigation.
And then I started
to feel like something
was like ripping my guts
out, literally. Ooh.
And I remember getting headaches
and I didn't feel good.
And I remember looking
at my wife, kim,
and saying,
"I don't want to be here anymore
"or something's going on,
something above and beyond
what usually happens."
and I don't remember much of
what was going on that week.
I just remember
feeling really off.
I was not acting like myself,
like, you know,
I was being mean to people.
I said something
about having a headache.
And then there was like another
voice that came out with mine
that wasn't mine.
- Interesting.
And, you know,
I was going through the store,
knocking things off shelves
and laughing about it,
like just all this, like,
really, like, off vile stuff.
I was doing that,
if you know me,
I'm, like, the happiest
person on earth.
So it's like that is not
in my character.
So it seems like you had
a pretty dark time. Yeah.
You know, that week after.
Do you think that you were
kind of, maybe, possessed?
Yes, I think it was possession.
My wife and my friends
were saying
that I was not
acting like myself.
Do you think that you were
kind of, maybe possessed?
Yes, I think it was possession.
It took a while for me
to snap out of it.
So when you were taken over
for that week,
who do you think it was
or what do you think it was?
Something extremely dark.
And I don't use
this word very often,
but I want to say vile energy.
Where is the vile energy
coming from?
The land.
There's so much blood
soaked into this ground.
It's just incredible.
Franky, how would you feel about
coming into the fort
with katrina and I?
I'm nervous, but I can.
You know,
franky's definitely been
impacted by this place.
The fort has definitely left
an imprint in her life.
You know,
we came in to investigate
kind of poltergeist hauntings
of the fort
and is kind of made
a bit of a hard
right into the negative evil
and borderline demonic.
Anytime anyone comes away
and they get physically ill,
I worry.
I'm just like .
I really want to play with this.
Katrina: I don't know
what's gonna happen.
Franky is psychic medium.
And she could go in there
and have another attack.
She could go in there
and get really emotional.
The last thing we want to do
is upset her,
make her feel uncomfortable.
But it would be really helpful
to retrace the steps
from the day
she had her experience.
So when jack and I go in
to do our investigation,
we can kind of put ourselves
back into her shoes
and see if we can
document anything.

I'll put a rem pod up
on the bastion. Yeah.
And we can put the other rem pod
in the entrance hallway
along with trail cams.
So if there's any motion,
we might be able to capture it.

a laser transmitter,
and what we're doing is we're
running audio through this.
It's gonna transmit
through the laser
to a receiver at the end.
And when it hits that receiver,
it's gonna pump
the audio back out.
We're gonna play through
some cannon sound,

creates any kind of response
and when the audio is
transmitting between the lasers,
if anything breaks the laser

I mean, it's concerning

There's some definite weird experiences

And I think for me
at least the most crazy one
was that breath we heard.

at the fort,
right before we were leaving,
something came through the voice
box and said, watch out.
And then it would be
following us home this evening.
Now combine that with
franky's premonition
that something was gonna
attach itself to me,
that kind of has me worried.

But so far,
I haven't felt anything off.

So jack and I
investigated all last night --
mm-hmm.
And we went to all
the hotspots
that you pointed out to us.
The bulk of what we captured
was encountered
was a lot
of intelligent responses
through knocking.
Say something and then
a floorboard would creak
on the other end
of the casemate.
And then we did capture
pretty interesting
evp was at the loft bunk,
the bunk loft.

So one of the experiments
we did and this
is when things really started,
you know, coming alive for us,
is we had -- it's basically
a laser transmitter
and receiver.
And we were pumping through
wartime sounds and after we did
that that's when we started
getting some knocks and bangs.

It sounded like it was coming
from behind here.

So then I go back to this
whole thing about triggers,
and I mean, if you think
about it like richard,
you're just one giant
walking trigger
when you walk through that place
dressed the way you are.
And I mean, the building itself
is a trigger.
I mean, and actually going back
to something you predicted,
you told us we would have
a lot of camera problems.
Oh, wow.
Every single camera failed
on us last night.
- Everything.
- And every piece of equipment
we were having to troubleshoot and fix.
I believe it.
I mean, our whole, like,
security cameras
that we put everywhere,
they all crashed at one point,
had to fully do a hard reset.
- I believe it.

We don't really know
what's happening.
That's just stopped
working entirely.

I feel like the investigation
of the fort
is probably best done
over a long period of time.

going in any part of that fort.
Other days, there's just

of bloodshed
and it has left a stain.
Those places seem to have
a connection
with what we would
call the paranormal.
And I think fort william henry
is one of those places.
Even if we don't have
all the answers today,
these things still happen.
