Outlast (2023) s02e03 Episode Script

Season 2, Episode 3

1
It's day eight of the game.
And with Alpha
already down a player
an injury
has put Alpha Team at risk
of losing another teammate.
I hurt my lower back so bad.
When I fell on my back, I knew I hurt it.
-Help me up.
-I gotcha.
Okay.
- Go slow.
- Oh.
It just tightened so bad.
I just didn't really know how bad.
Oh, Lord, why?
As soon as I tried to get up,
then I realized that, you know,
my worst fears were coming true.
It's just tightening
and tightening.
I can feel it tightening. I can feel it
spasming down my back.
This is bad.
Oh, man.
Coming from a big guy
who fights professionally,
I mean, he's used to getting kicked,
punched, dropped, choked out.
For him to say he's in excruciating pain,
and he can't move,
you know it's pretty damn bad.
Up shore,
Bri's time is running out to join a team
We got to talk fast,
because if Bri needs to go to Alpha,
gotta give her a chance to get there.
and her fate lies
in the hands of Team Bravo.
I'm firm on that,
I'm not gonna lie.
I don't want a fifth person.
Don't know how you guys feel.
I'm pretty firm on it too. I just
I really need the money,
and splitting it
with a fifth person is just a lot.
But she seems like she has
a lot of motivation, a lot of experience.
She took this initiative
to make this trek by herself.
-That's really admirable.
-I mean
I think we're pretty set
on not having a fifth,
and I'm speaking for all of us.
You know,
that's always a hard thing, like,
especially when it comes
to a good person like her, but
-The more people you have
-Our dynamic's built around four.
you're increasing that chance
for that person to hold back your team.
-Yeah.
-So I'm being 100% honest right now.
That's fair.
I want everyone to be 100% honest.
And that's why I wanted
to speak my truth too because,
from my perspective, it would really
be nice to have another girl on the team.
It's wearing on me, like
I feel kind of outnumbered.
I mean, I am outnumbered in a lot of ways.
Emily, we definitely don't want
a fifth person right now.
Sometimes I do feel like,
yeah, my ideas are listened to
in a half-hearted way and pushed aside.
Hey, the good thing is,
if Alpha does take her,
who says we can't go to Alpha
three days a week to hang out
- so you have girls to hang out with?
- That's okay.
But I was hoping that
they would change their mind.
The tide is coming up.
Sun's going down.
It's going to be really difficult
to get to Alpha.
-Maybe they'll welcome her.
-I hope they do.
- But to me, it's like
- What if they don't?
- Yeah.
- If they don't
I feel so nervous right now.
Hey, Bri?
Hey, Bri?
- What's up, girl?
- So
We respect the shit outta you.
I've liked you from day one.
From being on the boat,
without you even talking, nothing. I've
-I've already decided that I like you.
-Thanks.
I think you'd be a valuable player
and I'd love to bring you on.
I think we'd all love to bring you on.
I know Emily'd love
another female on the team.
Yeah.
Um, but
I think as a group, we don't want to add
another dynamic to the team.
-We're rocking over here with four people.
-I totally understand.
It just so happened
right before you got here,
we were like,
"We don't want a fifth person."
I said the opposite.
I said it would be really nice to have
another girl on this team, personally.
But, like, nobody seems to be concerned
about what I think.
The boys on Bravo
were so hard set
against having a fifth person on the team.
Emily was absolutely pushing
for me to stay.
But
I knew that one opinion of one person
wasn't gonna get me on the team.
So, because the tide is coming up,
and you guys just said
It is a bitch
to get to Alpha in high tide.
It's gonna be a pain.
The woods is a bad walk that way.
- Yeah.
- Sun's gonna be going down.
Could she stay here tonight?
- I'm so cool with that.
- I'm cool with that.
Okay. Give her a chance.
Chat with Alpha tomorrow.
Yeah. You've walked a long way.
Happy to feed you and give you some water.
- Thanks. I appreciate that, guys.
- So Yeah.
When they told me that,
it was such a relief.
Emily was just really kind
to bring up a sleepover with them.
And I didn't know if I'd have a shelter
to survive out here through the night.
-I appreciate it.
-For sure. Excited to have you.
- Sleepover.
- Me too. I'm excited.
I would love a sleepover.
This doesn't secure my position
on this game board,
but we only have 24 hours to find
a new team once we leave our team.
-If you basically follow this around
-Okay.
You can kind of see That's Alpha Camp.
So the clock is ticking,
and I'm nervous about what
the following morning's going to bring.
I'm nervous Alpha will be like,
"Know what? We have a good dynamic."
"Mm, sorry."
-I think they'll take you in.
-I hope so.
-I wish we could keep you.
-Wish I could take you.
-I thought we were hugging. Can we hug?
-Yes.
-Oh my God. Truly. Yeah, exactly.
-I'm so glad we got to know each other.
That was a flare.
Alpha just shot a flare.
- Yeah.
- Flare!
-Flare.
-There it is.
-Wait, where?
-Let's fricking go!
You saw a flare?
I saw a flare.
I don't know where it came from.
- Oh, shit.
- That was a flare. I heard it.
That's from Alpha, yeah.
I wanna see my fireworks show.
Who was it?
I think it was Alpha, that flare.
A flare from Alpha?
I think she was going Alpha, dude.
Is it Bri?
Would it be karma
if she was rejected and had to flare out?
Yeah. Namaste, honey.
Pretty sure she went to Alpha.
They're down to three.
- She has 24 hours.
- To find another team.
Which way you think?
This way. I heard it from here.
Oh my goodness gracious.
Now, who was on Alpha?
Zach. So the medics are here.
They're about to get you out of here.
Yeah.
Zach, I'm gonna help you,
but we gotta get you out of here.
- Will do.
- Copy that. Keep monitoring.
When somebody makes a conscious decision
to leave our team, that's one thing.
I've let you guys down, man.
But when the decision is forced
by a physical injury,
then that is way more devastating
than being able to come to the place
where you're good with your choice.
Your health is more important
than the game. That's hands down, dude.
Take care of your wife and your babies.
Yeah, and I'm letting them down too.
I have to tell my wife,
"I spent all this time
away from you and the kids
and I have nothing to show for it."
I I I let my team down
by doing something reckless.
It's hard enough to survive
when everybody's healthy.
It would be more of a detriment
of me staying there,
and them having to take care of me.
It's going to be very, very difficult
with just the two of them.
But I still believe in my team,
and I hope and I pray that they can do it.
What a twist.
This is the worst timing ever.
I don't want to go to a team of two.
So here I am.
I'm supposed to be going to Alpha to plead
that they'll have me on their team.
But we saw Alpha Team shoot a flare.
So they are now down to two people.
And, yeah, I think that helps
with my chances of getting accepted.
But it also means
they aren't that strong of a team.
And that is very scary.
All I know is we're down to 14.
- You're saying there's a chance!
- Yeah!
Let's go, baby!
-Wow.
-They are celebrating over there.
- Is that Charlie? It has to be Charlie.
- Wow.
I wonder if they think it's you.
- Alpha's dropping like flies.
- They are.
I don't know if we can yet.
Charlie cheering,
so I don't think they, uh, doing too bad.
Feels weird to be that excited
about somebody's misfortune.
That means war now.
To hear everyone cheer
just set in my mind that,
you know, these people may not be here
to play a decent game.
So it's time to make them regret they were
put against you in the first place.
It's time to bring the dog out.
And we got to bring that fight.
It's starting to lean.
Timber!
Three sections.
What are you talking about?
What you talking about?
Yeah.
Ready? It's coming over.
One, two, three, go!
Let's start breaking.
Get it right underneath that crack.
Come on, man. Ready?
-Yeah.
-You might fly back to the camp.
Fly back to the camp.
Whoo!
Breaks in between everything.
We're exerting some energy
cutting these bigger logs.
- Yeah.
- But we're only making two cuts?
- Two cuts, yeah.
- To burn wood all night.
That's the smartest thing you thought of.
-Just slide the wood instead of chop it.
-Yeah.
- I'm whipped.
- Yeah.
I don't take naps at home.
But out here, I don't have
the nutrients or, you know,
stuff to replenish all that movement I do.
We're all going
to have to slow the hell down.
- Yeah. Yeah.
- You got to want it, though.
- I want it bad, bro.
- I want it. My family needs it.
Big time.
I ain't putting my mom
in a nursing home, so.
- No.
- What has she got?
- She's in stage five dementia.
- Dementia?
- That's a cruel one. I'm sorry.
- Yeah.
My mom has dementia.
I moved her in with me.
And it's a debilitating disease,
so she's only going to get worse.
She's still knowing?
She still kind of is aware
what's going on.
And when she catches moments
of realizing what she's going through,
she just breaks down and cries.
- Just awful, man.
- And that breaks my heart.
My concern is, you know,
when she gets less mobile,
um, I'm not going to have the physical
strength to help get her around.
So that's where I'm gonna have to
hire somebody to come in.
That shit ain't cheap.
Winning this would give me
the financial ability to hire
the home help that I need.
I made that promise to my mom,
and I plan on keeping it.
How's Chef doing? He all right?
Yeah, he's just kind of chilling in there.
I figured, well, I'm not gonna
- Yeah.
- bother him.
I ain't mad that he wants
to take some time to himself.
Yesterday, I finally had
to put my foot down.
That damn log across the bottom of it,
I'm going to roll it up.
He told me I wasn't gonna do it.
I was like, "This is happening."
Sometimes that's what you gotta do.
Chef, at first, it was like, "Yeah,
that's boss, that's Chef." You know?
We can ignore it, but it's like
it's starting to seem like,
every day it's a problem.
So when he had his little hissy fit,
I was like, "Man, I'm a grown man."
"I'm a grown man.
I'm just gonna walk away."
Mountain Man is a fire man.
Like, he does this all the time.
He the one came up with the great idea
about chopping down big logs
and pushing them
instead of hacking at little logs all day,
cutting them into pieces,
feeding the fire all night.
Long story short, Mountain Man took
the initiative, got the fire back going.
Being that it wasn't done Eric's way,
he undid it, like, purposely.
And I was just like, "Bro, what?"
You didn't have to start
the whole thing over again.
Well, you interrupted me, so I did.
- Because you're doing it wrong.
- Either way's gonna work.
- I had it fixed.
- Did you?
-If I needed help, I would've asked.
-Have I let the fire die yet?
Every day is just
something new with him.
He throws tantrums when things
don't go his way.
When I'm doing something,
let me do it.
All you'll do is burn up twigs.
It'll blow up in your face,
and you'll lose your coals.
Bro, you don't see what you're doing?
Sitting here against a tree,
watching you lose the fire.
Go get us some squirrel, dude.
Isn't that what you were off doing?
He acts like he knows a lot
to kind of force his way
and his opinion around.
And people are starting to catch on.
-Bro, you're all over the place. Chill.
-Mm-hm.
Agreed.
We're gonna get
settled in here pretty soon.
We improved our doors.
We have fire fully going.
And hopefully,
tonight will be warmer than last night.
We're gonna use that one on that side
-Okay.
-is what we decided.
I do know that we had
a surprise when she left.
With Bri leaving,
I think she's acting her age.
But the three of us decided
we're fully committed
to getting through this together.
You know what? I mean,
we probably are the underdogs right now.
- It feels that way.
- I know, but it's okay.
We just keep moving forward.
I am able to maintain
this positive attitude from practice.
-We're positive experts.
-Yeah.
-We're positive people!
-And now
I've been through the Seven Summits,
the highest peak on every continent.
And I tell you what,
when there's a negative person
on the team, it is infectious.
And it will kill an expedition.
When you remain positive, that's how
you make it through tough times as a team.
Tell you what. We have great freaking
attitudes, and we're still going.
Dinner is served.
Damn, that's so many crabs, you guys.
Yeah. Yeah, dig in with us.
Bravo's company
is just a breath of fresh air.
- I lived in Alaska for three years.
- Around here?
- Nice.
- North Pole.
- Really?
- The way you go
- Thirty days without sunlight?
- Yeah.
I'm thoroughly
enjoying your company.
I'm enjoying yours too.
When you're in a situation like this
and all suffering together,
having that friendship
is very important out here
in order to stay in the game.
- I really like your setup.
- You like it? Yeah.
I really, really do.
Called a wickiup.
- So, who am I cuddling tonight?
- The pot.
I'm a great cuddler. I'm a spooner.
- I'm a big cuddler.
- I like being in the middle of two spoons.
We could cuddle up, me, you,
and Sammy, if we have two blankets.
I'm down for that.
- They call that a threesome.
- Highly recommended.
I still knew in the back of my mind
they didn't want a fifth person.
But now that I have my foot in the door,
I need to make them change their mind.
There we go. Come on with it.
Good day today.
See y'all tomorrow.
Team Bravo out.
It's a clear night
over Kupreanof Island.
With no insulating cloud cover
to trap in the day's heat,
temperatures begin to plummet.
Combined with onshore winds,
this becomes the first night
of the competition to dip below freezing.
It's gonna be windy as shit tonight.
It's already pretty windy.
We're rearranging and rehabilitating
and renovating the hut here,
because it's just too much
with only two people left.
But the shelter is
much, much, much better.
It feels a lot better.
It's not so cold already.
Oh my God. You see this?
We both got our own blanket.
The blanket is good. I like the blanket.
Across the bay, the northern
shore faces the full brunt of the wind.
Originating from the south, it gathers
moisture as it traverses the water,
dropping the temperature a further
ten degrees for anything in its path
It's windy tonight.
With cold.
including Charlie
and Delta camps.
I'll tell you one thing.
If their camp ain't half as nice
as this one, they're struggling tonight.
Every camp's struggling right now
if they're not as nice as this one.
You guys, come on.
We got to warm up with positivity.
-One-minute dance party!
-Party!
Right here.
Dude, I hate the strobe lights so much.

-There it is. There it is.
-Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah.
One minute of calories.
It is so cold out right now.
There's too much space to heat.
The fire won't stay through the night.
Charlie Camp's A-frame
has allowed winds to extinguish the fire,
along with any hope of restarting it.
Oh my gosh.
Yeah, no. My feet are so painful.
This leaves them
dangerously vulnerable to the cold.
Julio is suffering.
His spasms have moved, not just
to his legs, but to his back and stomach.
And he's in so much pain.
I'm tough, but my body's
screaming at me big time right now.
Yeah.
This is crazy.
I I don't know
how the other teams are doing it.
That was nothing I've ever experienced.
And I hope something
that I never have to experience again.
I mean, Bri leaving,
to lose an extra pair of hands,
it was a blow to the team.
Food, fire, wood, body heat,
like, all these things are so critical.
If one of these elements are missing,
you know, the entire system collapsed.
And, um, that's exactly
what happened last night.
This is brutal.
-Having limited clothing, gear, tools
-Yeah.
Yeah, it was a different form
of survival, you know?
I don't even know what I honestly was
still wondering what frostbite felt like.
I started wondering
for three of my toes, yeah.
Before, with these cramps, you know,
I grinded it out, and it went away.
Last night, these were not going away.
But I'm from Brooklyn.
That's where I was born and raised.
I'm a criminal defense attorney.
You know, I'm a tough dude.
And boxing at Gleason's and under
the Brooklyn Bridge has taught me
you can take a hit and get up,

I'm gonna work and keep getting up

We gotta get really creative
about warming all this stuff up.
I don't know.
Julio, man, he's, like,
fighting two battles at once.
If he were to have a departure for
whatever reason, especially at this stage,
it will cripple Charlie.
It will cripple Charlie.
It will be the nail in the coffin.
I wish I could sit down.
Like, really sit down.
But I can't let that happen.
I'm here to build a better life

I have an amazing wife,
and I have two amazing children.
And every day I think about them.
And this money, it would

I just feel like there's just so much

Yeah, I know.
- We enjoyed that.
- It was a nice sleepover.

So we have a slumber party.
It was wonderful
to have another female around.
And I, like I grew up with three sisters.
And it was great having that feminine
energy in the shelter.
And I just felt
the dynamic shift a little bit.
-Mind if I talk to you real quick?

But she's about to go ask Alpha,
the team of now two to join.
I hope she's not

and, like, getting to know her
and kind of sleeping on it
and thinking about it
I had a bit of a change of heart.
She fits in really well.
I like her personality.
Me too.
If she goes over there,
that's making their team stronger.
I was thinking the same thing.
Bri is way too valuable
of an asset to let Alpha have.
You know, she's young, athletic
She was in the military and,
like, was a machine gunner.
And, man, I just really vibed with her.
So, like, I'm rethinking things.

I'm stoked.
I mean, it's so cool to think
this might actually happen,

- Bringing on a fifth?
Yeah.
We're doing really well, um,
with a really solid team group dynamic.
But adding a new person to our team,
that could change things, mess things up.
Whoo!
I was, like, so against

At the beginning,
I was like, "Yay, another girl!"
But she's been thriving by herself.
-That would be a good person to have.

She already proved herself
by walking five miles yesterday.
God forbid, one of us has to go home

There might only be four or three of us

You're getting me pumped now, actually.
- She could collect food. She can do work.

Did you go to Delta too, already?
Yeah. I introduced myself

How's that team looking?
Pretty good.
Man.
But I think my skills,

We're all in better shape
than that team combined.
We're the youngest team here.
We're the most athletic team.
We're the best-looking team out here.
I mean, really, really.
Yay, Bravo!
Last night, I woke up
with my feet freezing numerous times,
to the point to where
I thought my toes were, like, wet.
I could barely
stop shivering ever.
-Oh, I didn't stop shivering. I couldn't.
-Yeah. It was horrible.
Since Zach had to flare out,
Tre and I are now just a two-man team,
and, uh
it's been really tough.
I woke up in pitch-black darkness
and just felt freezing.
I just know I had to start moving.
Tre and I are absolutely the underdogs
on this game board right now.
Walking out here to cut wood,
soon as you passed the tent,
it was just a big wave of wind.
It's a lot of extra work.
It's a lot of extra cold.
Because the hut's too damn big.
I literally had to bring all the firewood,
duck down behind the tent,
and cut wood
so I wouldn't get my neck blown off.
The best thing I have going for me
at this point is an amazing partner
and plenty of water.
I like all the improvements so far.
They definitely could be better.
Tre has the same heart

which is really strange, 'cause
I don't trust in, believe in anybody, but
I trust him.
I trust him to the end.
How's the How's the wind reduction?
Really good.
There's a lot less wind inside.
You know, Tonia,
she's not the strongest person,
but believe it or not,

She came out and she said, you know,
"I have a strong heart. I'm gonna
always try my best, and I don't give up."
And, you know,
what more can you ask for out here?
As soon as I finish setting
these squirrel snares and stuff,
you're free to go free-roam, if you like.
Perfect. And I'll even
look for a starfish for you.
That would be I'll love you forever.
You know, Tonia, she's not my mom,
but that's the feeling I got
because of how caring and,
you know, attentive she is.
You have to block everything else
so they have to come in through the front.
And once he steps up,
he'll spring the trap.
It would actually be nice to gauge
where Bravo's thoughts are at, I guess,
for lack of a better word.
Once Zach flared out, we, Tre and I,
fully anticipated
that Bravo would come and check on us,
because we supposedly have an alliance.
And we don't hear nothing.
We don't see nothing.
They don't need us to be an ally anymore,

I'll get you soon, buddy.
I got a feeling a lot of people are

I feel like a wolf.
I think we're in to surprise

While Joey is off
collecting boughs,
Meghan has chosen
to seek a medical evaluation.
As long as she foregoes medical treatment,
she'll be allowed to stay in the game.
-Hi there, Meghan.
-Hey.
I understand that you requested a medic.
Yes, please. I am having issues.
Um
Sorry, I'm getting teary.
'Cause I'm exhausted.
So, you know, um,
probably the last seven, eight nights,
I'm really getting very little sleep.
I can feel my body.
I am rapidly losing weight.
And, you know, we've probably had
250 calories in the last eight days.
My body can't get warm.
I don't think it's able to heat itself
anymore, is the problem.
So I'm so cold at night. It is brutal.
What has concerned me,
finally, last night is that
I have had frostbite on these two fingers.
I got it in Antarctica
climbing Mt. Vinson,
and I really haven't had any problems
with it since.
But these fingers
started really hurting and throbbing,
which is telling me
it's getting triggered. That concerns me.
I've been through
hurricane-force winds on Aconcagua.
I have climbed Denali in Alaska.
Two months on Everest.
I've been down in Antarctica.
But the expeditions I've been on,
I have incredible gear with me.
I get to be in a safe, secured tent,
a negative 40 sleeping bag.
I get warm food.
I get to sleep and let my body recover.
What do you feel like is the most
the most important thing we can address?
Um, I guess my healthiness
to even go forward or not, um
I guess
I think my body's telling me
that I shouldn't.
Allison for Dan. Dan, do you copy?
Yeah, over.
Medics, report to Charlie Camp.
I'm sorry,
I need to stop and step in here.
What is happening?
Last night was different
from all the other nights.
It was by far the coldest night.
We could not get ourselves warm.
Meghan was struggling bad.
And then, of course,
that coupled with, you know
- Julio, should I call a medic?
- No.
Allison for Dan, do you copy?
Yeah, over.
Can you send Kenya
to the interview, please?
Yeah. Of course.
I'm sorry, I need to step in here.
Uh, Julio is having a spasm.
- Aw, Julio.
- We need transport.
Responding.
Julio is down. Yeah, Julio's down.
Cleaning squirrels
remind me of home.
I wish we had squirrels
the size of what you got back home.
We had fox squirrels.
Bruh, you only need two.
- You only need two, man.
- Time for one more?
Yeah, we got enough daylight.
I think they're starting to get wise.
Sitting there,
"Now how come Ed don't write?"
Yeah. "Where did Fred go?"
I'm still kind of working
on bonding with everybody.
Appreciate you cleaning them.
Man, I like doing this shit.
Something to do, so I'm not laying around,
losing my damn mind.
I think I rub people wrong
sometimes, because I'm very demanding.
And in the moments of great pressure,
I take control.
That's life Kitchen life.
That's who I am.
I'm not trying to be the bad guy.
I'm just trying to sustain out here
and win this frickin' game.
'Cause we're in it for the long haul.
I'm trying to keep the team healthy,
hydrated, and all that.
So I decided to gather some seawater
and, uh, make sea salt.
You can see it's pretty dirty
down in here,
and I don't want dirty salt.
So we're, uh, going to strain it out.
Don't have any strings, so I took a root.
Sacrificed one of my wool shirts.
We should probably get anywhere
from six to 15 grams of salt out of this.
Coming from my naturalist background
and understanding foods and healing,
salt is the key to life,
and without that, I've been
My muscles have been tight.
Bring it up to a hard boil,
and then slow-boil it down
until it has a little bit of moisture left
so it doesn't crystallize
and stick to the pan.
And voilà, sea salt.
Now that we're done, I get to cook food
and keep the team happy.
This is going to help our muscles.
We'll get electrolytes,
and this stuff won't taste so bland now.
-We got seasoning.
-Bring the flavors out.
-I like a little seasoning.
-Oh, yeah.
Eric definitely butts heads
with everyone on the team,
but one thing I can say about Chef,
he does great with making sure,
you know, the team's good,
and making sure the team's fed.
Need salt,
way I've been sweating.
It's enough to at least get us
a little bit of a
- Keep us feeling healthy.
- Yeah.
Back at Charlie Camp,
Julio's muscle spasms have subsided,
allowing him to forego medical evacuation,
which would disqualify him from the game.
What usually happens at night
just happened now.
It was up my back.
It was in my abdomen as well,
which I've never experienced.
That really caught me by surprise.
And if you were to put
the discomfort on a scale, zero to ten,
zero being no pain,
ten being the worst pain you've ever had
Yeah, it'd be like a 20.
And I can take pain,
but this is, like, crazy.
Do you recall how much water you had?
Maybe 16 ounces in sum.
We've had probably 250 calories
in seven and a half days.
Without proper nutrition
and electrolytes,
Julio's ability to fight off dehydration
through water alone
has been greatly reduced.
It seems like things
are graduating.
My fear is those cramps
are going to continue to advance.
To make matters worse,
his muscle cramps
are fueled by the cold temperatures,
as his body attempts to warm itself
through muscle contractions.
Um, right now, I don't see a reason
for an immediate medevac.
-Right.
-But if you want to flare out,
-it would have to be your decision.
-Mm.
All right.
Julio, man, you hanging in there?
I've thought about it,
through and through.
You know, there's nothing
but genuineness behind this.
I'm ready, based on
what's happening with me medically,
to, uh, fire that flare.
Wow.
-I'm good with it.
-You know, man
Oh, shit.
My body's just breaking down.
I want to keep going. I want to
-Yeah, me too.
-I want us to turn this around.
But I don't think my body can do this.
I never imagined myself
having to leave so early.
Dang, dude.
Man.
First Bri leaving,
then Julio, then Meghan.
And this all happens,
you know, in 24 hours.
It's demoralizing, for sure.
The thing I've learned in my 40s is,
like, when to let go of something
because you are damaging your body.
Sometimes the strongest, the bravest,
the most grittiest thing you can do
is know when you need to say,
"I have to stop."
This isn't quitting.
This is actually
just trying to save myself
permanent injury.
- And, Joey, like
- We don't wanna leave you behind.
We do not want
to leave you in a bad position.
Ah, don't cry.
At this point,
I don't know what's happening.
Just the way the team was disassembling,
it was like watching tires fall off a car.
You're balancing on three tires now,
and then the other two tires
get popped tires, and now I'm just like,
this tire that kind of fell off
and is just rolling at this point,
just kind of just cascading.
I'm really sorry that I can't keep going.
I know.
I could not believe
that I'm the last one standing on Charlie.
I think Charlie's
about to pop a flare, though.
- There's people standing there.
- Yeah.
- They're all spread out evenly too.
- They're about to shoot the flare.
Brooklyn is tough.
Like, people are hardy, people are rugged.
And I brought
all that hardcore Brooklyn with me,
and tapped into it,
but Alaska's a beast.
Alaska's different.
Stunning in its beauty
and brutal in its capability
to remind you
that you're this small in it all.
Meghan's like, "I've climbed all these
mountains in the world, so I'm good."
"I have a house. I have money.
This is just one more thing."
Julio's in the same boat.
It was like,
"Hey, I don't even need the money."
But I have struggled for so long,
and I have so much more to give.
And that's why I'm here. I'm here to win.
-Oh! There they go! There's two!
-Oh my God.
There's two!
Oh, shit!
Are you serious?
Don't celebrate. They might be hurt.
A flare.
- Flare.
- Flare. Flare. Flare.
Flare!
Flare!
-Yes! A flare.
-We're still eating, buddy!
They're still dropping,
and we're still eating.
Yeah, that storm last night
I told you, that storm was epic.
Yeah, payback, bitches.
Told y'all not to cheer yesterday.
Look at you now.
I mean, I don't know
who's on the other teams.
I'm kind of confused.
So I have no choice but to sit and wait
to find out what's going on,
'cause I want to know.
I think it's Meghan.
And Julio.
Oh, they're dropping like flies.
What did I say?
-Yeah.
-What did I say?
-Wow.
-You called it.
The validation I feel
from seeing the flares from Charlie
is insane.
I made the right decision
leaving Charlie Team.
Oh my God.
Charlie Camp is done.
- Charlie Camp is done.
- Yup.
So Joey's probably gonna go
to Delta now, see if he can get on.
- Wow. They're walking away.
- Hopefully we see another flare.
I know that Joey is not going to make
the walk all the way around the bay.
He's going to go to Delta.
I will say, though,
I don't know what skill sets he has
outside of what they already have
that could be added to the team,
because most of the skill sets
I saw from him
were splitting wood and feather sticks.
Outside of that, I really don't know
what his skill sets were.
So long.
Hell, yeah.
- Whoo!
- I feel so validated right now.
- Good job.
- You made the right move.
Oh my gosh.
With the collapse
of Charlie Team,
Joey has 24 hours to join another team,
or he too will be forced to flare out.
Time is ticking.
And this money,
I don't want it.
I need this.
And I'm going to do anything to win.
Ahoy!
- Hello. We have a visitor.
- We have a visitor, you guys.
