Male announcer: This is the biggest dance competition in the world.
"World of Dance.
" Last week, the world's best dancers That is what I'm talking about! Announcer: Soared to new heights.
This is how you compete for $1 million.
- Oh! - Come on! Announcer: Tonight, the qualifiers continue to light up the stage.
Shot out of a cannon.
It has been a struggle, but I love dance so much.
I don't have a plan B.
Last year, my mom passed away from cancer.
My mom just loved art, and I'm not gonna let that die of her.
[cries.]
She was the best.
Announcer: It will be bigger We want to do something career-changing, and that's "World of Dance" for us.
Announcer: And better than ever before.
I loved it.
[laughter.]
This is not a competition.

Okay, that is an entrance, people.
We're a B-boy crew, all the way from the Netherlands, and we are All: The Ruggeds.
Gotta get up, I gotta get up, move Hey! And we stand out from other B-boy crews with our tricks.
I gotta get up, move We just want to do crazy stuff.

We learned everything in youth centers, in small gyms, trying stuff.
Everything that you see-- it all comes from kids having fun.
But we're professionals, though.
[laughter.]
We've competed all over the world, and we won 40 international titles.
We've worked with artists like Justin Bieber, Rita Ora, but this is like a big competition now.
We want to do something career-changing, and that's "World of Dance" for us.
We want to make it to the final.
We want to show the US what we got.

The Ruggeds! Okay, so huge trick in the very beginning with three different levels of "What the hell"-- that was great.
My only issue with this performance was the transitions.
We know you've got the big, huge, amazing tricks, but the stuff in the middle falls a little short just for me personally.
Yeah, you got to dance a little in between.
- Sure.
- The ideas are good, you guys have the difficulty level there in the tricks, you're representing your style, but now you got to add that extra little element that separates you from every other B-boy group and also allows you to be on this stage.

I agree, but I would say one suggestion as a--a bit of advice.
There was a choreography at the beginning where you guys kind of hitting some moves, and in the--two of the guys in the front like, were not in sync, and it was very evident, so I think moving forward, if you go through, now you just need the finesse, and it's gonna be a fantastic group.

Mine was Heavy D, and I was, like, anything but heavy.
I was about 30 pounds.

And my mom gave it to me.
Who--who gets their B-boy name from their mom? Like that.
That was me.

And we're from Alberta, Canada.
I'm 17 and she's 14.

Throughout those five years, we've trained together at the same studio.
That's why we work so well together.
We have such a good chemistry and bond onstage, and I wanted to show that to the judges.
I need to balance alone now.
I'd describe our relationship as like a brother-and-sister relationship.
Some people have asked us if we're dating, especially on social media.
They're like, #Jaylor.
- Yeah, they're like-- - #Tosh.
- Yeah.
- But Yeah, we're not dating.
- No.
- So Baby break a sweat, break a sweat Baby break a sweat So last year, the juniors tended to score low in creativity, especially from Jennifer.
What are guys gonna do about that today? We have a lot of cool, unique tricks and, uh, visuals that I feel like no one will expect.
I am kind of like a detective, police officer.
Oh, now I see the police badge.
- Yeah? - And she's like, rebel, bad girl-- - I'm a--like, a criminal.
We're--I'm-- excited to see this.
We definitely need to focus on the qualifiers and getting our score past that 80 and even beyond.

There was a lot of different moments to love, but one of my favorite pieces was just this little ts-ts-ts-ts.
Oh, that was - That little piece right there.
That was sick.
See it's--it's n-- It's small.
It's a head nod, but it was so big in the moment.
That's what it means to be a great performer.
You made every piece of the song mean something.

I thought you guys did a really good job, but popping and the locking-- it's like ba, ba, bap, and that's what it is, and, you know, it can get repetitive, and if you're gonna stay in the competition past today, you're gonna have to find really exciting ways to keep that entertainment value rising.
I will say, you definitely made Korea proud on this stage tonight.
Absolutely.
The wardrobe change stood out to me.
I have just one or two small critiques.
As it went, I--it lost a little energy-- f-for me personally.
This is a competition.

The use of formation, the way the ladies were on the outside, and using the color coordination-- I loved it.

- I'm Michael Dameski.
I'm 22.
I'm from Sydney, Australia, and I'm a contemporary dancer.
[melancholy vocal music.]
I started dancing at the age of ten.
My very first professional job was the lead in "Billy Elliot the Musical," and then in 2014, at the age of 18, I was crowned the winner of Australia's "So You Think You Can Dance.
" That was kind of what propelled my career.
Do you live here now? As soon as "So You Think You Can Dance" finished, I moved here straightaway.
It's been a lifelong dream of mine to be in the United States.
American dream The opportunities in Australia are limited, and if you really want to succeed as a dancer, being in the United States is what's best.
Coming from Australia, I was so established and recognized.
It was like I had to start all over again.
How's it been, auditioning? It's been really hard.
You have to have that thick skin, and you have to have that resilience to keep going.
- Totally.
- There's so many "no's" - Yeah.
But there's always a "yes," and you're meant to be here.
- And you got to believe that there will be.
Oh, I want this for you so much.

They have this--this quality that feels like they're flying, almost, and that's what you had.
It was really, really beautiful.
The other part that was super exciting to me is that it felt dangerous.

It had a sense of keeping you on the edge of your seat, and there was something really exciting about that, and I think the whole audience felt that.

Like, fast, ra, ra! - Yes! - Like, you know, mesmerizing, but I think as far as, you know, moving forward in this competition, there's a-- there's a limited amount of moves, I feel like, that's in this particular style.

It was good, but is that enough? Well, first of all, I want to say, it was such great energy so high, so-- so much entertainment, but at the same time, there is a level of artistry and creativity that we're used to seeing.
That's what you have to be thinking about right now.

Miracle, miracle It's really special because not most 9-year-olds have this opportunity to be on this competition.

Robotics is all that we think about.
Our dream is to put on shows, because we love to tell stories.
- What is your story tonight? Uh, well, the piece is actually a tribute for my mom, who passed away last year.
So the song's, like, a big connection to our childhood.

Last year in April, my mom passed away from cancer, so ever since then, it's been real difficult.
I mean Last year took a toll on me But I made it with you next to me She was always very supportive of us She would drive me around everywhere.
If we got an audition, she would come, and I'd always be like, "Mom, why are you here? You're embarrassing me," but she just-- she loved to be there, and I know she would love to be here, and she'd be very proud.
She was the best.
But I can't do this alone Sometimes I just need a light If I call you on the phone I'm sorry.

My only issue with this performance was the transitions.
We know you've got the big, huge, amazing tricks, but the stuff in the middle falls a little short just for me personally.

- The ideas are good, you guys have the difficulty level there in the tricks, you're representing your style, but now you got to add that extra little element that separates you from every other B-boy group and also allows you to be on this stage.

I'm from Sydney, Australia, and I'm a contemporary dancer.

I started dancing at the age of ten.
My very first professional job was the lead in "Billy Elliot the Musical," and then in 2014, at the age of 18, I was crowned the winner of Australia's "So You Think You Can Dance.
" That was kind of what propelled my career.
Do you live here now? As soon as "So You Think You Can Dance" finished, I moved here straightaway.
It's been a lifelong dream of mine to be in the United States.
American dream The opportunities in Australia are limited, and if you really want to succeed as a dancer, being in the United States is what's best.
Coming from Australia, I was so established and recognized.
It was like I had to start all over again.
How's it been, auditioning? It's been really hard.
You have to have that thick skin, and you have to have that resilience to keep going.

- What is your story tonight? Uh, well, the piece is actually a tribute for my mom, who passed away last year.
So the song's, like, a big connection to our childhood.

Last year in April, my mom passed away from cancer, so ever since then, it's been real difficult.
I mean Last year took a toll on me But I made it with you next to me She was always very supportive of us She would drive me around everywhere.
If we got an audition, she would come, and I'd always be like, "Mom, why are you here? You're embarrassing me," but she just-- she loved to be there, and I know she would love to be here, and she'd be very proud.
She was the best.
But I can't do this alone Sometimes I just need a light If I call you on the phone I'm sorry.
So when your tears roll down Your pillow like a river I'll be there for you We all love his mother.
The only thing we can do is really focus on pursuing the dream that she helped us chase.
