And he trained a fire-breathing sea dragon to protect his treasure.
[roars.]

And then one day, a wicked storm blew across the sea, covering the sea monster and all the treasures with rocks and dirt, forming the volcano you see there.
You see it? [all.]
Whoa.
Wait a minute.
Did you say "fire-breathing sea dragon"? Aye.
Certainly did.
But that doesn't make very much sense at all.
- It doesn't? - [Bing.]
No.
How can a dragon that lives underwater breathe fire? Yeah, man, the water would, like, totally put the fire out.
Arr.
I never thought of that.
You might be right, StoryBots.
How do volcanoes work? Uh, that's what we were asking you, Mr.
Pirate.
Oh! Right.
Hmm.
Well, why don't you try the Scientific Method? You know, Sir Francis Bacon and stuff like that.
Hey, that's a great idea! We can go up to the top and take a look around! - Come on, guys.

Mr.
Fossil.
Mr.
Fossil! Uh, excuse me, sir, but what exactly do you mean by layers of the Earth? Crust, mantle, core, see? Crust at the top.
Mantle in the middle.
Core at the center.
Is that where the lava is? Lava? You may call it lava up on the crust, but down here it's called magma.
Magma forms when the fiery core melts the rocks in the mantle Mr.
Fossil, it's really important.
Scram, Francis! You're gumming up the works! We know you're busy, Mr.
Fossil, but we just need to find out how volcanoes work for a kid named Henry.
Volcanoes? You came to the right place, StoryBots.
Grab a seat.
My star Roxy's gonna make this show the talk of the town.
Number one! Mr.
Fossil, it's really, really important that I Not now, Francis! Positions, everyone! It's our last rehearsal before showtime! The Earth is built in layers And the main ones are three The first one is the core And it's as hot as can be A lot of it is liquid All the experts agree And that's the lowest layer Of the Earth The layer called the mantle Is the next to explore It's rocky, but it's soft Because of heat from the core It's kind of like a liquid But it's too thick to pour And that's the second layer Of the Earth The crust is at the top And it's mainly solid rock But it's made up of separate plates With definite breaks They're detached and yet mostly They fit very closely Between the crust and mantle Molten magma can flow But how does it rise up You may be eager to know Well, now it's time to introduce The star of our show To tell you how volcanoes Come from deep down in the Earth Take it away, Roxy! - Huh? - [all gasping.]
[crickets chirping.]
What happened? Where's Roxy? Where's the star of the show? That's what I've been trying to tell you.

The show's about to start! I'm sorry to burst your bubble, gumshoes, but I'm packing it in and quitting show business for good.
[all.]
Quitting show business? But why? There's just too much pressure, StoryBots.
Some days, I feel like Like I'm just gonna burst! We all have our tough days, Ms.
Roxy, but Oh! You don't know what it's like being at the center of a Bob Fossil production.
All that pressure It's just too much, StoryBots.

- But everyone's counting on you, Roxy.
- Yeah, what about your friends? Oh, they're more than just my friends, StoryBots.
They're my family.

You gotta love a lion [roars.]
- [phones ringing.]
- [Hap mumbling.]
- Huh? - [StoryBots yelling.]
I told you StoryBots to get an answer, not dillydally! We got the answer, boss.
We know how volcanoes work.
The first thing you need to know is that the Earth is made up of three different layers.
Core, the mantle, and the crust! The core is way down at the center of the Earth, and it's super-crazy-hot down there, man.
It's so hot that it melts the rocks in the middle layer, which is called the mantle.
Yeah.
And the melted rock is called magma.
The top layer of the Earth is called the crust, and it's made up of giant pieces of land called tectonic plates.
They, like, float around on top of the magma and the rocks and stuff.
When the plates collide or separate, it creates gaps in the Earth's crust.
And when the magma from below rushes to the Earth's surface [all.]
That's how volcanoes work! Just Just give me that tape.
[grunts.]
How does, how does, a volcano erupt? The answer lies within Earth's three layers The core, mantle, and crust The core is deep In the middle of the planet And man, it's hot, so far down Next up is the mantle With the crust right above it Which includes our beloved ground The heat from the core Melts rocks in the mantle Like wax on a candle, and then With gases it mixes, and that makes A liquid called magma, say it again They call it magma, magma That scorching molten rock But how on Earth does it make its way Up through the earth To the light of day? Well, the land below our feet is divided Into pieces called tectonic plates Like a jigsaw puzzle, but the pieces Shuffle around at a sluggish pace And depending on the flow Of the magma below They may bump or pull apart When that creates gaps There's a pressure change fast That's how eruptions start Because the pressure, pressure Shoots magma right on through And in a flash, you'll see a splash Of hot lava fondue How does, how does, a volcano erupt? The answer lies within Earth's three layers - The core, mantle, and crust - Oh, yeah The core, mantle, and crust Hmm That was Yeah? Pretty good.
- [all.]
Phew.
- [TV turns on.]
Hey, look, guys, it's Henry! - Henry! Hey, Henry.
- It's good to see you again.
Wow, the Earth is made of plates? - Yup! That's right! - Yes, sir! I like plates with mac and cheese.
[laughs.]
That's a different kind of plate, Henry.
But me, too.
- Ooh.
I like my plates with pizza.
- Oh, that's good.
I like my plate with rhubarb pie, and cupcakes with sprinkles Sushi and popcorn and lollipops.
Oh, chimichangas, those are so good Don't stand there talking about food! There's work to do! Let's go! Let's go! Let's go! Move! Move! - Move! Work! Work! - He should try decaf.

She left! She left? Where'd she go? Why'd she leave? Why didn't you tell me sooner, Francis? What's wrong with you? I'm ruined! Ruined, I tell you! [cries.]
Well, maybe we can help, Mr.
Fossil.
- Yeah.
We can find Roxy.
- Yeah.
That's what we do.
Come on, we can find Roxy.
- You guys would do that for me? - [rumbling.]
You better hurry, StoryBots.
The plates are shifting, and it's almost showtime.
We need Roxy to be number one, see? Number one! - [rumbling.]
- Come on, guys.

[grunting, then shouting.]
And we're go for liftoff.
[both.]
Huh? Huh? [both laughing.]
One.
There's a number that you come to When the count's just begun The simplest one you'll ever see And its name is number one There's just one moon up in the sky There's just one blazing sun Old number one is less than two But still it's more than none One horn, one big wheel One ball, one trained seal One fine automobile Number one is fun I joined up in a baseball game We won it by one run I found a crisp one-dollar bill But I wish I had a ton I barbecued one burger I served it on one bun The contest judges took one bite And said, "You're number one!" One kite flying up high One bee buzzing on by One big Cyclops eye Number one is fun One dog chewing one shoe One chimp playing kazoo One skunk, pee-yew! Number one is fun Number one is fun All aboard! [saxophone music playing.]
I'd like a one-way ticket to Stonyville, please.
- Train leaves in three minutes, ma'am.

It keeps building and building and building, and [gasps.]
I just ain't cut out for it.
- But everyone's counting on you, Roxy.
- Yeah, what about your friends? Oh, they're more than just my friends, StoryBots.
They're my family.
And everyone's worked so hard, it breaks my heart to pieces to let them down, but I I just can't! [crying.]
What are we gonna do now, Beep? I guess we have to tell Mr.
Fossil that Roxy isn't coming back.
- The show must go on, man.
- I hope they have an understudy.
You coming aboard, miss? [train whistle wailing.]
Where are those StoryBots? I need my star, see? - [Beep.]
Mr.
Fossil! - [Bo.]
Oh, dear, Mr.
Fossil! Hey, Mr.
Fossil! Where have you been, StoryBots? Where's Roxy? Where's my star? - Well, we found her, Mr.
Fossil.
- But she wouldn't come back.
What do you mean, StoryBots? The show needs her.
Her friends need her.
The audience needs her! Roxy's understudy is dressed and ready to go, sir.
- [shouts.]
- Oh! Wow.

- [Hap.]
Now! Go! Go! - Bye, boss.
