Fact or Faked: Paranormal Files (2010) s02e05 Episode Script
Dashcam Chupacabra & Nightly News Alien
- Tonight on "Fact or - Paranormal files" Left of her head.
Whoa, whoa.
What is that behind her head? What? Oh, we got some serious "poltergeist" going on, huh? There's something out there that's moving.
She's even still got the carcass stored in an ice chest.
What?! Seriously? I'm hearing something really strange.
Holy! What the?! Just ask him point blank -- did he fake it? Behind you! Be careful! Oh, my goodness! There's a flying saucer.
I'm getting a series of lights right there.
Are you seeing what I'm seeing? What the heck is happening? Hey, guys.
Hey, Ben.
What's up, Ben? What's happening, Ben? Good.
Good.
Bill, start out.
I found a really great clip out of Argentina.
On August 8, 2010, a news crew was interviewing a woman in Santa Cruz about water contamination, when something very strange moves in the background.
Take a look at this clip.
Whoa, whoa, whoa.
Look to the left of her head.
What is that behind her head? Right behind her head.
You see that? - Yeah.
You see it? - Oh.
It looks like what we think an alien looks like.
It looks like our night crawler case.
It does look like night crawler.
Did they not notice this thing behind the reporter? Apparently not.
There's no indication the news crew saw this, noticed it at all.
As a matter of fact, it wasn't until the video was broadcast that a viewer noticed it.
And then it went viral, and it received over a million hits online.
That's a big deal.
That Southern spot of Argentina is a hot spot for ufo sightings.
Most definitely consider it.
I mean, it's a really good one.
So, uh, why don't we move on to jael.
Well, I have got a ghost story, and it takes place in a funeral home.
Yeah.
It feels cooler in this room.
A guy named Joe leduc and his friends kept hearing scary stories about this place, and so they decided to break in one night to see if they could capture any of the activity on video.
They got some interesting stuff.
Did you guys see that? Something flew into the lampshade.
Yeah, it looks like a tissue in the box there.
And it jumped all the way up.
Oh, we got some serious "poltergeist" going on, huh? Absolutely.
And the chair goes falling over.
There have been a lot of reports of lights switching on and off, things moving around.
The locals have been hearing about it for a long time, and that's what propelled these guys to go in there and investigate.
When he pans over, he cruises over and then back a couple of times, almost like he's waiting and staging it.
I agree with you, Ben.
I mean, what they've done is okay, but it's not that complicated for us to replicate, so I think we should table this one.
Devin, batter up.
What do you got? All right, you guys.
I got one word for you -- chupacabra.
How crazy is that? Two deputies in DeWitt county, Texas, were on a routine patrol when they spot this mutant-like canine creature running down the side of the road.
So these deputies record the creature on the dash cam of their squad car.
Oh! Oh, yes! Oh, wow.
Yeah, this is the dash-cam chupacabra.
I remember this case.
This thing made a lot of headlines.
Now, you guys, the first thing that you'll notice is that this creature is hairless.
Yeah, it was weird because, when I first saw it, I thought, "oh, that's certainly a dog.
" And then it turns its head, and it has this crazy, thick, elongated snout.
And I haven't seen that before on a cam.
Guys, the literal translation of "chupacabra" is "goat sucker.
" And supposedly, it sucks out the blood of its prey.
And the legend of chupacabra is huge in Latin America.
And there have been alleged sightings in places like Puerto Rico, Mexico, Chile.
Guys, this is a terrifying cryptid.
This thing slaughters its prey by the dozens then drains its blood and just disappears.
Ufo magazine has reported that as far back as 1996, there have been more than that have been linked to the chupacabra.
Here's something kind of spooky.
There's been several cases in Texas that seem to suggest that this alleged chupacabra is migrating to the Southern United States.
That's what makes this case really interesting is that the location where this video was shot is right outside of cuero, Texas, which a year earlier, phylis canion found a dead animal on her land that she believes is the chupacabra.
She's even still got the carcass stored in an ice chest.
What?! Seriously? Would she be okay with us going and checking it out? She wants us to come and see it.
And the police officer who recorded the video is willing to talk with us, as well.
This could be a great case to investigate, so let's see if Austin can top it.
Guys, I have a really recent clip for you.
It actually happened inside the historic -- and supposedly haunted -- lake lure inn, located in west Michigan.
During an anniversary party, a hotel employee is simply snapping a picture of an ice sculpture they have on display.
But wait till you see what he captured in the picture.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah.
Right there.
Oh, yeah.
Do you see it in the left side of the frame? Looks like a little boy.
This guy right here looks like he's wearing, like, a vest or a cummerbund.
Maybe we're seeing, like, the reflection of a waiter or someone working the party.
Okay, now, the photographer's name is Patrick Brian.
How do you feel about his credibility? Because photos are easier to, you know, manipulate than videos.
The fact that he is so willing to meet with us, that lends credibility to me.
And on top of that, the history of this place is insane.
There have been reported hauntings and paranormal activity for over 72 years.
This actually looks like a picture that just uses long exposure to me, guys.
Oh.
Oh, yeah.
Take a look here.
It looks like this person, this young boy, could have actually just started in the photograph.
Therefore, his image got burned into the picture.
And then he walks out.
You'll see there's a slight smear here, where his eyes are dark.
When you have a longer exposure, it creates a motion blur effect when there's any motion at all, and that's what I'm seeing here.
So it's almost like he started in the picture, and then he moved out.
- I can see the smear.
- Yeah, absolutely.
I really do find this photo interesting.
Why don't you see if he has other evidence that would get us out there.
You got it.
You got it.
All right.
I think we've seen enough cases.
Some of them, we've already explained.
And then some of them really stood out in my mind.
What do you guys think? I say chupacabra all the way.
It meets all of our criteria.
I want to see what the news team caught on tape in Argentina.
That case really hits home for me.
I'm with you.
I think that definitely deserves our attention.
The fact that it made the news and with how many witnesses believe this to be an alien, I'm in.
Especially when you consider all the ufo activity along the coastline in Southern Argentina.
Now, I would love to go to Argentina, but this chupacabra case has been so big.
Other people have tried to look at it, but nobody has tried to replicate it.
We have a great opportunity to actually get a DNA sample.
Why don't I go with Devin and chi-LAN to Texas? And, bill, Austin, and jael, why don't you go to Argentina? We're going back.
Yes.
We're here in DeWitt county, Texas, investigating the bloodthirsty chupacabra.
Supposedly, the chupacabra sucks all of the blood out from its prey and just leaves the carcass behind it.
This case really is a mystery.
There are descriptions of this thing being a cryptid or even genetically engineered.
There are even descriptions out there of this thing being a giant monkey-like creature with spikes and fangs.
We're actually focusing our investigation on August 8, 2008, when two DeWitt county deputies come upon this creature running alongside this dirt road, and they were able to film it from their dashboard cam.
Phylis canion -- she's a DeWitt county resident -- she found a carcass of a chupacabra on her ranch and she even had that carcass stuffed and mounted.
I got to see this.
Hey.
How are you doing? It's such a pleasure to be here.
You ready to see something that's very different and unusual? Take us to it.
Let's see what this guy looks like.
Oh, my God.
What in the world is this? We're here in DeWitt county, Texas, investigating the elusive chupacabra.
How crazy is that? Phylis canion found a carcass of a chupacabra on her ranch, and she even had that carcass stuffed and mounted.
Oh, my God.
What in the world is this? This is the creature? This is the creature.
Oh, my goodness! You guys, this is a specimen.
When you first saw this, what did you think it was? I had no idea.
I was driving into the ranch one evening, and lo and behold, this is what I saw.
We hit it with our car, and it was dead.
And then, of course, we mounted it.
Is there something unusual about the eyes on this creature? Well, to me, the eyes are very unusual because of the deepness in the color of the blue.
You replicated the eye color by using tinted glass.
That's correct.
Do you have any idea of, like, the profile, what it likes to eat and things like that? Well, I do know that, in the beginning, when we kept missing the chickens, what perplexed me the most -- having lived on a ranch all of my life, a wild dog would kill a chicken and take it and eat it.
A coyote would.
A wolf would.
This would just appear to kill the animal, open it up in its neck area, and then leave it.
When was the last time you saw a creature like this on your property? Three days ago.
Three days ago.
Three days.
Wow.
This is an amazing specimen, phylis.
What happened with the rest of the remains? I have the entire carcass from this animal.
And if you're interested, I will show it to you.
We are very interested.
Wow.
We have a kit.
We'd like to maybe get our own DNA sample of this carcass.
Yes.
I'll get that, and I'll just meet you out in the back.
Okay.
Meet you there.
Thanks, guys.
This is the remains.
The body is still intact.
Wow! I took it to the taxidermist.
They just took all the hide off of it.
So, how do you keep this? Always, I keep it in the freezer.
That's the only way you can really preserve everything on it.
Phylis, where would you prefer that we sample this? I'd like for you to take it from right here.
- Devin.
- Yeah.
Scalpel, please.
Thank you so much for your time.
I would shake your hand, but maybe not.
I would shake yours, too, but thank you.
So, we've taken tissue samples of this creature that phylis believes to be the chupacabra -- preserving it in solution.
We'll take it back to have it tested, and once we find out the genetic makeup of the creature, we'll be one step closer to solving this case.
Well, next, we're just gonna head a few Miles down the road to the location where the chupacabra video was filmed on a dashboard camera.
There we're gonna meet sergeant Ellie Carter.
She's gonna tell us all about what she saw on that day.
Hi.
Hi.
You must be sergeant Carter.
I am.
How are you? Good.
Ben.
Hey.
I'm chi-LAN.
Very nice to meet you.
Devin.
So, sergeant Carter, why don't you tell us a little bit about what you saw that day.
This is the actual road that we were on.
My partner had said, "what is that?" And I said, "it's the chupacabra!" 'Cause it was just so odd.
It didn't look like any coyote that I had ever seen.
Then it took off up that hill, and then it dove off to the right, into the fence line.
Where was the camera mounted? They're mounted underneath the visor.
So it's actually closer to the rear-view mirror, high-center.
Ok, I think we can mount something right about there and get it in the same position.
Oh, yeah.
Definitely.
Thank you.
So, now that we've seen the remains of the creature that phylis is calling a chupacabra and we've heard the eyewitness account of sergeant Carter, we're gonna set up a few tests to see if we can figure out what the creature was.
Guys, what I'm thinking is that this might just be a case of mistaken identity.
I mean, this animal may be something that's known around here.
Yeah, definitely.
I mean, look around us.
This is all farmland.
It could be a horse, a goat, a coyote.
I mean, there are so many options.
All right, guys, I've called in an expert to provide us with some animals that are bred in this area.
This expert is bringing a miniature horse, which looks kind of similar, you know, in skin and shape to the chupacabra that we've seen.
Oh, there he is.
So, this is little rain? Yeah, this is little rain.
Hey, buddy.
Oh, my goodness.
So, tell us about him.
How old is he? How big is he? Well, he's 2.
He's just a little under 28 inches.
He probably won't grow anymore.
What do you think, guys? You think mistaken identity? I mean, up close, no one's gonna mistake this for a chupacabra.
But, I mean, when you're looking at his elongated nose, that really matches what we saw in the video with that creature.
I have a question for him.
Where were you August 8, 2008? So, what we're gonna try to do is get little rain to trot about 30 yards in front of the car and get his gait and speed to match the original video of the alleged chupacabra.
We're using a very similar car to the police vehicle.
And since the dash cam was mounted at around mirror height, we're approximating it with this tripod.
To protect the animal, we have little rain's trainer and the road blocked off to all traffic.
Hey, guys.
I'm gonna go take a place on the left side of the road.
To distract this miniature horse, see if we can get it to look at me.
Yep.
That sounds awesome.
All right.
Little man looks ready to go.
Ready? Yeah.
Ready position.
Copy that.
Here we go in three Two One.
- Coming up on "fact - Paranormal files" Release the hound! I think we need to do our own chupacabra night hunt.
Some signatures of something out there that looks moving.
We're in DeWitt county, Texas, investigating the theory that an escaped miniature horse could have been mistaken for the chupacabra.
So, what we're gonna try to do is get little rain to trot about and get his gait and speed to match the original video of the alleged chupacabra.
I'm just gonna use my fingers and whistle.
Hopefully, little rain will take notice and look to the left like the creature did in the video.
Here we go in three Two One.
Here we go.
Here he goes.
Oh, he's got a great gallop.
How was that? Looked right at me.
All right.
I think we've got our video.
All right.
This one came close, I think, with the match of the skin color, even kind of the head turn.
But it's not running like it, though.
It's just not a chupacabra.
What do you guys think? Let's move on to the next one.
Well, we've ruled out our miniature horse as the culprit for the chupacabra, so we're gonna move on to an animal that's bred locally here in Texas.
All right, guys.
Here she is.
Here is nabernet brujah.
Hey.
Oh, my God.
That is shocking, just at first glance, you know, how similar she looks to the video.
You know, one of the biggest breeders of Peruvian inca orchid dogs is actually right here in Texas, really close to San Antonio.
We just have to have her run up the road the same way.
We have the camera set up.
You'll drive, and you'll get her to turn her head.
Sound good? Yeah.
All right, guys.
Let's get set.
All right.
Come on, brujah.
We're gonna have brujah run the same distance that we see the creature running in the video.
All right.
Brujah is set.
All right, guys.
Three Two One.
Release the hound! Whoa! Whoa, look at her go.
Wow! Wow.
Come on.
Come on.
Over here.
Over here.
The backside really pops up, just like the chupacabra.
Man.
I bet that looked great.
It did from my angle.
Yeah.
All right.
Let's take a look.
Let's see what we got here.
Wow! Look at her run.
It's so similar, guys.
I mean, the parallels are uncanny.
Look at the hind quarters go up.
Look at the physiology of that.
That's just amazing.
That same up-and-down flexion in the lower lumbar looks exactly like that.
So, I mean, both of these animals have a tail that's slender and hairless.
The only thing that's missing is that this chupacabra, when it looks left, the snout is longer.
But phylis' chupacabra didn't have a long snout, either.
Maybe there are a number of different species out there.
Although we came really close with our experiments, we weren't able to replicate the footage exactly.
So that makes me think there possibly could be a mysterious animal roaming DeWitt county.
Phylis did say she saw what could have been a chupacabra only three days ago.
I think we need to go back to her ranch and do our own chupacabra night hunt.
Guys, remember, chupacabras feed at night.
So keep your eyes and ears open out here.
I think we have a lot of work to do.
Let's get started.
All right.
What I have here could possibly be our newest team member.
Now, this drone is a multi-rotor helicopter.
And we've attached the latest and lightest high-tech police-grade camera.
This camera can detect a living creature several hundred feet away.
Whether it's a chipmunk or a chupacabra, we're gonna see it.
What I have here are two thermal cams -- one mounted on my shoulder with a monitor here recording everywhere I face.
And this one is here is the latest in thermal-imaging technology that's in the form of a scope so I can zoom in on my target.
You guys ready? Ready.
In three, two, one, go green.
All right.
Rock 'n' roll.
Be safe out there.
So, right now I'm remote-controlling our drone we've got it up in the air following Devin with a thermal-imaging camera.
We're trying to see a little bit further ahead of him.
So if anything pops up that's living, we'll be able to point out to him to get over to it and see what it is.
Devin, we have you with the drone.
What are you seeing out there? I've just come across the carcass of a deer.
I'm picking up some signatures of something out there that looks moving.
All right.
I got two anomalies out there.
Could be -- Did you hear that? We don't know what creature could exist in here.
Phylis has said the chupacabra has been seen in a number of places on her property as recently as three days ago.
So, right now I'm remote-controlling our drone we've got up in the air following Devin with a thermal-imaging camera.
All right.
I got two anomalies out there.
Could we -- Did you hear that? Devin, did you see that? I saw a large, shadowy creature go across I.
R.
Camera number 3.
There is a heat signature up ahead.
I don't know what it is or how big it is because it could be far away.
I am getting major heat signatures straight in front of me.
Right there.
Right there.
I see it.
Do you see it? What is that? This thing is looking right at me.
It's just staring at me right now.
I don't even know what this is.
How's it going? So, guys, we went down to DeWitt county, Texas, to investigate the chupacabra case.
For our first experiment, we wanted to explore the popular theory that this could be just a case of a mistaken identity.
Now, in cuero, there are a lot of little horse farms, so we got a mini Arabian horse and explored the possibility that it was just a miniature horse running down that same country road, caught in the dash cam.
I can see how somebody would mistake it for something other than a horse, but it doesn't look like a chupacabra.
And you can see that he definitely has a mane.
So, we wanted to stick with the case of mistaken identity, and we went with a rare species of a hairless dog.
Is that the original video, or is that the dog? No, this is a Peruvian inca dog.
Wow.
Even the gait, right? Now, our Peruvian inca, the nose wasn't quite as elongated as our chupacabra in the original video.
We were unable to completely replicate the chupacabra using our domesticated animals.
And we needed to investigate the possibility that maybe this was a mutant hybrid or some unclassified cryptid in the area.
So we decided to launch a nighttime investigation.
Maybe we could hunt down or find our own chupacabra.
Phylis canion let us onto her 200-acre ranch to do a full hunt.
She had seen a chupacabra just three days before we got there.
So, you guys, I'm out on foot, it's cold out, it's pitch-black, I can't see anything, and I start to pick up these heat signatures on the flir cam.
What is that? All of us can clearly hear all of these howls going on.
We don't know where they are or what they are.
But they sound like they're just getting closer and closer.
This thing is looking right at me.
It's just staring at me right now.
I don't even know what this is.
Cattle.
Well, that makes sense.
I'm just thankful that it wasn't a bunch of chupacabras.
Unfortunately, we weren't able to find our own chupacabra.
But we were able to get the tissue sample we got from phylis' carcass tested.
We sent it away for DNA analysis, and it comes back as a hybrid animal, a cross between a gray Mexican wolf and a coyote.
It looks like the chupacabra sightings around Texas may actually be a new species of animal.
Wow.
That's a major breakthrough.
It's a huge breakthrough.
Guys, what do you think about the case? You guys made a major discovery with the hybrid of the wolf and the coyote.
However, it doesn't explain this very strange creature that's got spikes, that's got this big, bloodsucking mouth that people have talked about for years.
I think the search for the mythical chupacabra will continue.
It might still be out there.
I want to hear about your exploits in Argentina.
All right, so, we investigated the news alien down in patagonia.
We blew this case wide open.
And check out how we did it.
- Coming up on "fact - Paranormal files" Walk the alien.
I'm hearing something really strange.
What is that? I'm noticing some really strange behavior with the sea lions.
It almost looks like they're running away from something.
Holy! What the You know, this case is astounding.
It does look like an actual alien was caught on tape during a news broadcast.
Right.
A news station was covering a story about water conditions when, during the interview, an alien-like creature appears in the distance.
The clip first aired on the local news, but once it hit the Internet, it actually became a huge sensation that all of Argentina's been talking about.
Well, Argentina's a center for ufo and even alien sightings since the '60s.
Especially this coastal region.
Many people believe that this area is a hub of extraterrestrial activity.
We're gonna be pulling into the location of the original broadcaster here.
It's so windy in this area that we're gonna test the natural explanation that maybe the wind picked up some kind of a debris and blew it in the background during the the news cast.
You know, there's a chance that this could have been a misplaced item.
Let's test the theory that maybe a decorative wind sock could have just blown into the background and just looks like an alien walking.
We did see these in the stores on the way in.
They come in all shapes and sizes.
Right.
Okay.
So I'll play my role as the newscaster.
I'll be on camera.
I'll get this hooked up.
I'll let you guys know when I'm ready.
Austin for bill and jael.
You read? We're here, Austin.
Man, it's so windy in this area.
I don't know if this is a plausible explanation for what we're seeing in the original video.
I can tell it's a wind sock.
It doesn't look like an alien.
To me, it looks like, you know, what it is.
The wind in the area blows over 30 Miles an hour.
I'm having a hard time just getting this thing rigged up to the pulley system without it blowing away.
You know, I'm beginning to think that this whole "object caught in the wind" theory is pretty farfetched.
But you know what this means, right? Time to move on.
I mean, with so many excavation fields around here, it's possible that this is misidentified construction equipment.
True.
There are all kinds of oil rigs and heavy machinery out here.
I mean, what if one of the workers was just moving some of the equipment, and it actually looked like an alien in the background? Yeah, they do use those long straps attached to moving equipment to move things like boulders and heavy machinery.
I can see how it would look like something walking in the background.
We're about to see if the combination of this large hook and these heavy-duty construction straps hanging from this crane could have been what was mistaken for the alien walking behind the newscaster.
Ready to rock.
Set up with the camera.
Everything is framed up.
Austin, why don't you get into position? All right.
Okay, jael, you ready? I'm ready.
You ready at the crane? Standing by.
Okay, Austin, on three Two One.
Walk the alien.
Okay, jael, give me your new story.
Okay, Austin, why don't you go ahead and join us over here for a side-by-side comparison.
Okay.
So, let's pull up our test.
And we've got our original footage right here.
You know, it's interesting.
The straps actually replicate the body type of the alien.
But what we're not getting is the gait, the movement.
You know, the straps are simply too close to the camera to match the original footage.
Even if the machinery with the the telescoping arm was moved further back, you would still see the machinery in the background.
I don't think this is what it is.
You know what's really interesting -- look at where the shade is hitting the reporter's face And the shadow off the alien on the original footage.
If the sun's coming from the reporter's left, and casting a shadow on her right side, why would the shadow be on the alien's left? I mean, it should be on the right side.
You know what? You're totally right.
Something's really wrong with this.
As a matter of fact, we got to find out who's had the original tape since it was first shot.
Guys, I think we need to head into town and go to the news station and talk to the people that shot the video.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I agree.
Let's pack up.
Let's get out of here.
So, we basically ruled out any natural occurrences for what could have caused this.
Now we're moving on to the thought that maybe this video was a hoax.
Bienvenidos a caleta Olivia.
We're here, guys.
Hey, this is a cool, little beach town.
I called ahead to the local news station and was put in touch with the editor who worked on this news piece, Lionel Fernandez.
Maybe he knows something about this footage that we don't.
Okay, here's the station right here.
Oh, this is it.
Yeah.
Let me pull in right here.
Well, we've arrived.
Thanks, man.
Hola, Lionel.
Muchas gracias por tener noten unas preguntas que se tratan con el video.
So, you know, I told him that we have some questions in regards to the video.
Okay, well, the first question is, who gave him the video? Okay, it was -- the cameraman who was shooting the video gave him the tape.
Does the cameraman use external lights with his camera? That means there's no reason for the inconsistencies that we're seeing.
Just ask him bluntly -- is this a hoax? Throughout our test, we actually discovered a few discrepancies and inconsistencies within the original footage.
So we decided to head down to the news station and figure out exactly what was going on.
Just ask him bluntly -- is this a hoax? Okay, he's saying, "well, not completely.
" He's said they filmed the video.
Jael, just ask him point blank, did he fake it? SÃ.
SÃ.
SÃ.
That's yes? He said the video was faked.
Faked by who? Yo.
You faked it? ¿tú lo hiciste? Why? ¿Por qué lo hiciste? He said he did it as a joke.
Can he show us how he faked it? SÃ.
Yeah? All right.
He's gonna show us.
Bueno, este es mi programa usamos de animación, okay, so this is an animation program that they use to make the figure move.
They take the figure from the program.
After they've made it move, they add a composite to the original footage.
There it is.
That's it.
Wow, guys.
Look at that.
Oh, my gosh.
There's the original video we shot on the left.
There's you without an alien.
And on the right is the composite.
And there it is.
There's the alien.
My gosh.
Well, guys, there's our answer.
Gracias.
I have one more question.
So, why did he believe that people in this area would find this alien video to be real? Porque en toda la zona en la patagonia, ahi actividad.
He says, in the past several years, there's been many cases of people seeing ufos, so people in this area have a natural predisposition to believe that they are real.
What area specifically have there been these sightings of ufos and aliens? Entramos de la ruta que va There's been a lot of cases where people see ufos over the ocean, over the coast.
Okay.
Bueno.
Muchas gracias por la información, Lionel.
Gracias.
Por favor.
De nada.
Although we just found out that this video is a hoax, we are going to do a night investigation simply because of the number of sightings of aliens and ufos in this area.
Let's think about this case.
What brought us here was this video.
But why have there been so many sightings of aliens near the water in the first place? One of the reasons that I'm thinking is because of what occurs here naturally in Argentina.
And that's some of the world's largest thunderstorms.
These thunderstorms are so large, they cover sometimes You mean, if there were some kind of extraterrestrial craft that came into our atmosphere, it would come here for some kind of charge? Guys, this is a great vantage point right here.
We can have a great sky watch.
Yeah, this place is awesome! Guys, I brought something different this time.
We have a VLF receiver, very low frequency receiver.
This listens to earth tones.
The earth is an electrical generator.
It makes a rhythmic sound like a clock, okay? If there's an interruption to that beat, she'll hear it through the headphones.
But I'm also recording the output to our computer's hard drive.
So if you hear something, let us know.
We can listen.
It may be an indication of ufo activity.
All right, guys.
Let's go dark.
We've got four infrared cameras.
This one over here is facing up the beach.
This one here, number 2, is facing behind us.
Number 3 has the shore and the sea lions that are down on the water.
And this one is facing up north.
I can see the guys on this one right now.
Jael to team.
Team, jael.
I don't know if you guys are seeing this.
I'm really only picking it up on camera 2, but I'm seeing what looks like this arch in the sky.
It's kind of like a gray rainbow.
Are you seeing this? I don't know what she's talking about.
I first saw the arch on camera 2.
Then it disappeared, and now I'm seeing it on camera 4.
It seems like it might be traveling.
Jael, we see nothing in our field of vision, so just keep an eye on it.
Let us know if it changes or anything, acts unusual.
It could be something only showing up in infrared, and we're not able to see it with our eyes.
I'm noticing some really strange behavior with the sea lions.
They seem to just, like, have gotten up all of a sudden, and now it almost looks like they're running away from something.
What? We're heading there now.
Yeah, let's head down there.
Oh.
Whoa.
They are freaking out.
They're agitated about something.
You know what? They're sensing something that we don't.
I mean, we were way down on the beach when she called us.
And we got here.
They were already upright.
Sea mammals, birds, fish -- they depend on the earth's geomagnetic field for navigation.
Maybe they're picking up something that we're just not aware of.
I mean, I can't believe the -- holy! What the?! What just freaked these things out?! I don't know! What is going on with them? I'm hearing something really strange.
It sounds like a whistle, like a really loud whistle.
Holy crap.
We're heading up there now.
Jael, these things just freaked out.
We have no idea what just freaked them out.
Are you kidding me? Get up here right now.
You got to hear this.
So, it seemed like the sea lions were sensitive to something that Austin and I were not.
We're thinking it might be connected to the gray halo that jael was seeing earlier.
It looks like a gray rainbow.
Check it out.
Oh.
I mean, my first thought is that this is an I.
R.
Lens flare from a light source.
What about the moon? Even if we can't perceive it with our own eyes, the I.
R.
Camera can catch that reflection of the moon off of certain clouds.
But you guys have investigated at night, and you've set up the cameras.
Have you ever seen anything like this? Not when there wasn't a light source that was very obviously giving us a flare.
I mean, it definitely could be natural explanation.
We're not saying it's paranormal.
We just don't know what it is.
You guys were in a very active and high-energy area.
This could be some source of energy.
Speaking of energy, jael was also monitoring the VLF receivers.
What this does is listens to the VLF, which is very low frequency earth tones, generated by the earth.
So if you want to hear what a baseline recording is like, we have an audio file for you.
So go ahead and listen to this.
This is normal behavior.
This is a normal sound.
Okay.
Sounds like rain.
Yeah, or crackling fire.
I was listening to the VLF recorder, and what I was hearing was not a crackle.
What did you hear? There's another file here.
What is that? Well What you're hearing is this part right here.
They're referred to as whistlers.
So the crackling sound, as we already know, is the baseline earth tone.
The whistle sound indicates an electrical disturbance in the atmosphere, like what lightning would produce.
Your guys' electrical disturbance was at the same time that the sea lions were freaking out.
Yes.
We were continuing to roll our video, and one of the I.
R.
Cameras did record a lightning storm that was approaching from a distance.
Really? So that could explain what's happening here and why we're hearing whistlers in the earth tone.
Wow.
You guys just closed this case down.
You guys proved that the video was for certain a hoax.
And not only that, you guys brought up some really interesting theories about energy harnessing and how other creatures may be using it.
I think it's so interesting that you guys may have found a hot spot and a reason for ufos to visit earth, which is really cool.
You did a great job, and you got a confession.
That's pretty rare.
Good job, guys.
