The Glee Project (2011) s02e05 Episode Script

Adaptability

1 So here's what you missed on The Glee Project Charlie's been having a trying time lately, trying to steal Mario's cane, trying to take Erik's job, and trying to impress Aylin.
Why is he winking at us? Which didn't impress Ryan at all.
Are you just so madly in love that you've lost your mind? Nervous Nellie finally found her sexy side.
Nellie was in a zone today.
And Mario's been having trouble in the booth.
I mnow yeah, just reach for it.
You're just a little flat.
No, I can do it.
But according to him, so is everyone else.
There were several voices that were off pitch.
Mario does kind of have a point.
Right, Michael? Both: the moves like ugh, the moves like.
Ugh, okay, Michael.
You can go.
I think you're done.
But, lucky for him, it was Tyler's time to go home.
Now ten contestants remain to compete for a guest starring role on glee.
And that's all you need to know so far on the glee project - Okay.
- Okay.
- We have our ground rules set.
- We have our ground rules set.
- We're strutting this week.
- Yes.
Fresh friends.
- Fresh Friendship.
- Okay.
Charlie and I have set some ground rules.
No kissing, no cuddling, keep the flirting to a minimum.
We can hug it out.
Sure, we can.
- Okay.
- Okay.
I couldn't be happier with this new friendship I've got going on with Aylin.
It means that we've taken all this energy and it's making both of us better.
Friendship! It's awesome.
- Okay.
- Okay.
- All right, Charlie.
- All right.
You don't have to be over-dramatic about it.
- Yeah, I know.
- [Laughs.]
Friendship shove.
[Loud thump.]
Ow.
Hey, everybody.
[Shouted greetings.]
Hey.
Why don't we come down? - Robert's here! - How's it going? - Good.
- Great.
Good.
So the theme for this week is something that's really crucial for a performer on glee, where things move fast, rehearsals shift, songs change.
The theme is Adaptability.
[Cheers and applause.]
Iamadaptability, because every day, as a blind person, I have to adapt to a world and situations that sighted people create for me.
So that has to show this week.
So your homework assignment this week is a particularly tricky song, you oughta know by alanis morissette.
[Cheers and applause.]
Oh, my God, I love that song! In the spirit of our theme, adaptability, this week, you are not going to choose your own parts.
I have here lyrics sheets, each one with a different part highlighted.
Ohh.
I'm gonna hand them out at random, and whichever part you get is the part that you have to sing.
Aw, dude, thank you.
I definitely can handle adaptability week.
And being in situations where I have to just do it and not think about it is a great way to get out of my head.
Okay, guys, good luck.
Get to work.
And I'm really looking forward to this, so I'll see your performance tomorrow.
- Bye.
- Bye.
[Shouts.]
What did you get? What did you - I got the first line of the chorus.
I do not like this at all.
I like to have some control in what I'm doing.
And this is completely random.
Do we want to get on our feet and get some chairs and try this out? - Yes.
- Yeah.
The theme of this week is adaptability, and what that means to me is to always be saying yes, no matter what they say.
They could say we're going to shoot upside-down, they could say we're going to record in Bethesda, Maryland if Bethesda actually is in Maryland but the point is, no matter what they tell you, say yes, and roll with it.
You, you oughta know [School bell rings.]
I'm, like, curious to see what they're going to throw at us.
Hey, guys.
- Hey, Robert.
- Hey.
So it's adaptability week, and we have a guest from glee, who can tell you all about rolling with the punches.
- Oh.
- Oh! Oh! Oh.
[Cheers and applause.]
Yay! I'm really excited to see Kevin because, as somebody who uses a wheelchair, I'm always looking to see if he's cheating at all on the show, and I've never seen him move his legs.
This is, of course, the incredibly talented Kevin mchale, who plays Artie on glee.
- I paid him to say that.
- [Laughs.]
So every week is adaptability week onglee or every day 'cause you never know what you're gonna get.
Every day is different.
And you may show up to work one day thinking it's gonna be something, and then it completely changes.
So your homework assignment was the emotionally charged alanis morissette song you oughta know.
You've been preparing this number as a group number, but you're doing it as a solo.
You each have to sing the song by yourself.
[Laughter, gasps.]
Oh, my God.
I'm freaking out right now.
I don't actually know the lyrics to the song.
So I was just kind of like, "okay, adapt, Shanna, adapt.
" So you think you guys can do it? You're up for it? Some of you? [Laughter.]
Let's do it.
I want you to know that I'm happy for you and I wish the very best the best for you both did you forget about me? Mr.
duplicity I hate to bug you in the middle of dinner does she speak eloquently? and would she have your baby? I'm sure he'd make such an excellent father - 'cause the love.
- That you gave that we made wasn't able to make it enough for us to be open wide no and every time you speak her name 'cause I don't know the line but I'm gonna keep singing yeah hey but you're still alive and I'm here to remind you of the mess you left when you went away it's not fair to deny me of the cross I bear that you gave to me - you.
- You - you.
- Oughta know - I am here.
- To remind you of the mess you left when you went away it's not fair to deny me of the cross I bear - that you gave to me.
- You - you.
- You oughta know [applause.]
Yeah.
- That's great.
- Thank you.
Great job.
So what do you think, Kevin? Oh, this is the hard part.
All right, Michael, you definitely made an acting choice.
At times, it might have been a little too much, but I really respect that you made a choice and stuck with it the entire way through.
Aylin, you performed the hell out of it.
- Thank you.
- You acted it great.
Like, all around, it was just really, really solid.
Charlie.
[Chuckles.]
What I really liked was that you really changed the lyrics to be appropriate for a guy.
I'm sure he'd make such an excellent father - Well done.
- Thanks, Kevin.
Ali, I loved how In real life, you're, like, super sweet.
[Both laugh.]
And, like, quiet, then you go up to sing a song, and you're like [Growls.]
.
But it was awesome.
Thank you so much.
Shanna, you might have been one of two who forgot the words the most.
'Cause I don't know the line but I'm gonna keep singing, yeah But I didn't even care.
Like, 'cause you just kept going.
Like, you stormed through it, and you sounded amazing.
- Thank you.
- So, Kevin.
Mmhmm.
Who are you gonna pick as the winner? All right, I think overall the best performance Was Aylin.
- Yay! - Whoo! I win! I'm so happy that I won.
I've been working so hard since I've been here, and it's nice that I finally had something that just made me, like, stand out.
So, Aylin, as usual, that means you win a one-on-one mentoring session with Kevin, as well as a stand-out moment in the big group number, which is We're not telling you.
- What? - Really? - Cool.
- Really.
It is adaptability, so We're not done yet with that.
[Laughs.]
Oh, my God.
So I guess you're gonna find out when you get to the recording studio with Nikki.
And you'll also be learning choreography on the set of the music video.
And the thing about that is that it's actually that happens A lot.
I like things to be planned out.
I like to know where I'm going and at what time, and I like to be very specific.
I don't think this week is going to be like that at all.
That's scary.
Bye, guys.
Nice meeting you all.
I'm scared 'cause I feel like they're gonna really test us this week.
Oh, yeah, we're gonna be tested to the limit.
[School bell rings.]
How's it going? - Great.
- Good, how are you? Well, as you may have heard, sometimes onglee, the kids'll get to the studio, and their lines will be switched, or we have to change something at the last minute.
So adaptability is really a necessary part of being on glee, so we thought, "what the heck, let's see if you guys are adaptable.
" You wanna know what the song is? All: Yes.
Okay, it'sprice tag - Yes! - By jessie j.
Yes! I am in love with this song.
I love this song so much.
I am really, really happy right now.
What other kind of reactions do we have here? Price tag.
Now I know the Title of the song.
This song's tough.
It's a great song.
I think you guys are all gonna sound amazing on it.
I have no idea what I'm about to do in this booth.
I don't know this song from Adam.
And I'm really freaking out.
You're gonna sing line one and line three.
Line okay.
I'll play your line.
Sing along if you want, but just give a listen first.
Okay.
Typically, the contenders will come to the studio having rehearsed their lines.
Today they have no idea what they're singing and are supposed to just learn it on the spot and give a great performance right away.
Let's do one.
All right.
I'm gonna put the guide just softly in your left ear.
- My le okay, perfect.
- Yeah.
Seems like everybody's got a price I wonder how they sleep at night You're a really fast learner.
I just hear it, you know? I hear it.
It's real good.
You got your shades on your eyes and your heels so high that you can't even have a good time Whoo! Michael is on fire this week.
Even better.
All right.
I like this attitude.
He has had no chance to get lost in his head, no chance to overthink, and Voila.
He gave the best performance he's given yet.
You're having fun with it, right? - Yeah, this is cool.
- It's a really fun song.
It is.
It really is.
I love the groove.
Yeah.
Why is everybody so obsessed? money can't buy us happiness - Pretty solid.
- Pretty nice.
- Pretty nice.
- Cool.
- Adaptability, baby.
- That's right.
I'm the homework winner, and I get a stand-out moment in the big group number.
I'm really nervous 'cause I know the pressure's on.
What are you excited for? What do you think the rest of this week is gonna be like? I'm actually kind of scared.
Forgetting words and stuff really freaks me out.
I think the most important thing you can remember for this week is confidence 'cause this show from day one has always been about the heart and the emotion behind it.
At the end of the day, if you're like, "if I just remember what this song is about and what I want people to feel," that's what it's all about.
That's amazing.
No one's actually ever told me that before.
That makes so much sense.
So good luck on not knowing anything.
- Cool, thanks.
- Yeah.
Just, like, let it all loose.
You're having fun.
Okay.
[Giggles.]
Ain't about the, uh cha-ching cha-ching ain't about the, yeah ba-bling ba-bling wanna make the world dance Yes! Thatthat was hot.
- Oh, that was fun.
That was fun! That was hot.
When the sale comes first and the truth comes second just stop for a minute and smile You cut your breath off instead of letting the breath flow through the entire phrase, like, when the truth comes first and the dun-da-ba You go when the tr-da-brr-ya da eh Abraham Had some problems.
We just wanna make the world dance He was more pitchy than usual, he had problems with timing.
Just was not his day.
- We just wanna make.
- The world dance forget about the price tag Okay, the end the last note just went a little dipped a little bit flat.
We don't need your money, money, money we just wanna make the world dance.
Okay, let's just get another one as an option, and then we'll move on.
Cool.
I am feeling really anxious.
I struggled with the second half of the chorus a little bit.
I want to trust the choices that I'm making, and to be honest, I'm not.
[School bell rings.]
Up next Cut, cut, cut, cut, cut.
I need more acting out of you.
I never had this situation where it's just not getting through.
The show is about New Directions, and if you can't be in New Directions and make a statement Yeah.
Then you're not right for the scripted show.
[school bell rings.]
[Indistinct chatter.]
Now it's time for the video shoot.
I have no idea what I'm waiting for.
I feel like learning choreography on set is going to be too overwhelming for me, so at this point, I'm freaking out.
- Good morning.
- Good morning.
- Good morning.
- Good morning.
What are we doing here? - I don't know.
- We don't know.
It's a perfect day for adaptability.
- Yeah.
- Yes.
Here is the concept: It's basically the mean, rich kids versus the broke kids.
The broke kids are gonna be having fun, having a good time, so one by one, the rich kids go and hang out with the broke kids, and then, finally, at the end, there'll be one rich, mean kid left.
She Aylin will have the decision whether to go with the broke kids or keep being a mean, rich kid.
So you're gonna have some choreography today, right? All: Yeah.
You're gonna learn right on set, right? All: Yep.
You're gonna kill it, right? All: Yep.
- You're gonna adapt, right? All: Yeah.
Right.
[Laughter.]
This video's particularly challenging because the contenders didn't know as much as normal going into the video because we wanted to throw things at them to see how they would adapt.
Let's roll it.
Everybody look to the right My intention for today is to stay in character the entire time.
And the character that I've come up with is named Scott Campbell, and Scott Campbell is a terrible human being.
Well, I don't particularly care how many ocelots you have to skin until the seats on my plane are complete.
You will do as I ask.
Is that understood? Ordinarily, the only requests I make from people below the poverty line are for more caviar.
Charlie has made a choice in this to play it very bizarre, and it's funny.
I feel like he may be one That has a hard time being a part of a group.
Yes.
I think the video's becoming about Charlie, instead of fitting into the group, and that's not a good thing.
Who is Mario? What is your vibe? My vibe is "girls and money.
" So I gotta see that in your actions.
Okay.
All right, let me see it, man.
[Music playing.]
Yeah, you good? - What? - You good? Yeah.
Look at oh my God.
Cut.
I need more acting out of you.
Gotcha.
I am really confused because I am a really good actor, and I know my ability.
I'm so stunned at being in this position right now.
You gotta have some swag to you 'cause it gives you more, like, a power thing over Aylin.
'Cause this is all her fault, being all cool.
I can't help it.
It just - yeah, you, I don't have to give you any notes.
You're There.
Whatever you did, you're there.
Thank you.
- All right, roll it.
- Play back! Money can't buy us happiness can we all slow down and enjoy right now guarantee we'll be feeling all right Cut, cut, cut, cut.
I'ma give you one more shot.
Mario he's just not here.
Like, he's here, but he's somewhere else.
He's not giving me anything.
I never had this situation where I just it's just not getting through.
Listen, we have to do this fast 'cause we're losing light.
This week's theme is adaptability.
The contenders are gonna have to learn their choreography on the spot.
We're running out of light.
We're running out of time.
It will be very interesting.
Try it.
Six, a-seven, go.
Boom, ga-dang, ga-dang boom, ha, ga-dang, ga-dang boom, boom, ba, boom, ba almost, Blake and doo-doo-da Kind of.
You'll get it.
Go six, go seven.
Group one.
Go, Blake.
The thing that scares me the most is learning the choreography on location.
It's one of the biggest tests for me, since, you know, I do practice as much as I can.
It's definitely against, like, what I've been doing so far in the competition, but, you know, nothing's easy.
When you're coming out, like, make sure we've got, like, a whoo kind of just do something.
[Laughter.]
'Cause right now, you all look like zombies.
As talented as Blake is, he seems to be struggling with being able to process the choreography so fast.
Blake! Smile.
When you're walking.
In this show, we need someone that can actually learn it and perform it within minutes.
All: forget about the price tag ain't about the cha-ching cha-ching The hardest part about this shoot so far is just I think that naturally I'm kind of introverted.
And I feel a little strange, and I kind of have to push myself outside of my comfort zone, and it's scary.
All: price tag Nellie's so this is what she doesn't excel in, is being in the group and moving.
The show is about New Directions, and if you can't be in New Directions and make a statement Yeah.
Then you're not right for the scripted show.
Okay, let's go, let's go.
This is the last one.
This is the last one, I feel it.
Now we have to pick the bottom three, and I think it's going to be really difficult.
I think we're gonna have to go back and just completely scrutinize every second of this video to make this decision.
And marker.
Here we go.
And Cue playback, please.
[Jessie j's price tag.]
seems like everybody's got a price I wonder how they sleep at night when the sale comes first and the truth comes second just stop for a minute Both: and smile why is everybody so serious? acting so damn mysterious you got your shades on your eyes and your heels so high that you can't even have a good time now everybody look to the left and everybody look to the right can you feel that? Yeah we're paying with love tonight All: it's not about the money, money, money we don't need your money, money, money we just wanna make the world dance forget about the price tag ain't about the, uh, cha-ching cha-ching ain't about the, yeah, ba-bling ba-bling wanna make the world dance forget about the price tag we need to take it back in time when music made us all unite and it wasn't low blows and video hos am I the only one getting tired? why is everybody so obsessed? money can't buy us happiness can we all slow down and enjoy right now guaranteed we'll be feeling all right everybody look to the left everybody look to the right can you feel that? Yeah we're paying with love tonight All: it's not about the money, money, money we don't need your money, money, money we just wanna make the world dance forget about the price tag ain't about the, uh, cha-ching cha-ching ain't about the, yeah, ba-bling ba-bling wanna make the world dance forget about the price tag it's not about the money, money, money we don't need your money, money, money don't need your money All: we just wanna make the world dance make the world dance All: forget about the price tag ain't about the, uh, cha-ching cha-ching ain't about the, yeah, ba-bling ba-bling babling, ba-bling All: wanna make the world dance forget about the price tag [Vocalizing.]
All: it's not about the money, money, money we don't need your money, money, money we just wanna make the world dance forget about the price tag All right, everybody, great job.
You adapted today.
Excellent job.
Give yourselves a hand.
It's a wrap.
[Cheers and applause.]
[School bell rings.]
Up next So we decided to do something a little different for adaptability week.
Your final adaptability challenge is [School bell rings.]
So the theme of this week was adaptability.
There were several of you that proved to be adaptable under pressure.
Let's start with this week's stand-out performance.
Aylin, you did a fantastic job on the homework performance, but you also did an excellent job at the video shoot.
Your acting's just getting better and better.
Thank you so much.
So, Aylin, Shanna, Michael, and Lily, you're all called back for next week, so congratulations.
It feels so good to be safe this week, especially during adaptability week.
Who knows what they're gonna throw at the last-chance performance people? The six of you are here because you all struggled to adapt this week.
Nellie, at this point in the competition, you're gonna need to decide how to pop inside of the group.
When it's on you, the camera loves you, and when you're singing, everyone loves to hear it.
But when you get inside of the group, your choices are just Not up to par.
- Thank you.
- Blake.
You know, so far in this competition, you've been flying high, which is great, but it is getting to the gap is closing.
You know, I know you're not a dancer, but when you do start to focus, you can see yourself thinking too much, and I told you yesterday, like, if you're gonna screw up, you're gonna screw up.
Just keep going, but don't let Blake the performer fade, you know what I mean? Yeah.
Abraham.
In the recording studio, it was interesting because most of the contenders did do better not having learned the song ahead of time, but I think that your pitch was definitely a little bit of an issue this week.
Ali, one of the notes you keep getting overall is just the being over the top, and that goes for the studio too, it's just almost every time, you're a little too big for the moment.
Mario, on the video shoot, you seemed also a little tired or a little flat.
Well, I-it was honestly, guys, it was, um It was the direction, at first, was rather confusing because I took it to be as me to be the silent, in-his-own-zone type rich kid that's rocking out to the iPod.
Generally, as an actor, you should always try to do something that has a little more action, so you're going to have to figure out ways to make slightly bolder choices.
And I realize that it's more difficult when you can't use your eyes to do that, but then you're gonna have to figure out a way to use your body to do that.
Charlie, on the video shoot, the entire group was doing something, and again you were a different energy than everybody else.
You didn't seem to be enjoying it.
At this point, we are having to look at you guys as a comprehensive whole.
Who are these people really going to be on the show? So we had to decide who's going to perform for Ryan tonight.
So we decided to do something a little different for adaptability week and not pick a bottom three.
Your final adaptability challenge is all six of you will be performing duets.
After you all perform, Ryan will decide which three of you are eligible for elimination.
I'm guessing you're each asking yourself who your duet partner will be.
Ali, you will be singing with Abraham.
Yay! [Laughter.]
I'm so happy.
Oh, God.
- Mr.
Mario - Yes, sir? You will be singing with Charlie.
[Laughter.]
I'm a little worried about being paired with Mario.
Mario and I are both very outspoken people.
There might be a little bit of butting heads in terms of taking creative control of this one.
That leaves us Nellie and Blake.
Okay, then, let's talk about the songs.
Mario and Charlie, your song is don't let the sun go down on me by Elton John and George Michael.
Cool.
Ali and Abraham, your song is last Friday night by Katy Perry.
- We got this.
- We got this, okay.
Nellie, Blake, your song is waiting for a girl or boy like you by foreigner.
Okay, guys, you have two hours till you perform for Ryan.
We'll see you soon.
[Waiting for a girl like you by foreigner.]
- So, uh - It's cool, this big - is this the vocal one? - I don't know yet.
It probably is.
Being in the bottom six and having to do duets in front of Ryan is a big wake-up call to me.
It just shows, like, there's no room for mistakes.
I really don't want to leave here.
I feel like I'm working toward something, you know.
I'm working toward my dream.
Let's give the vocal track one listen through out loud, okay? They said we could do that.
Well, I'd rather do that once I've I want to immediately start learning this thing in my headphones, so I would suggest that we do that first.
Well, do you mind if we give it just one listen out loud with vocals? With guy vocals? 'Cause I like to hear it in the room.
Sure, Charlie.
You should put in your headphones though, but okay.
Charlie never sings the melody of songs that he likes.
He always rearranges them or you know, when he's performing them, he always does that.
I think we could really do some cool stuff here.
But since we're on crunch time listen to what I'm saying first before you respond.
If you're doing a duet with someone, like, we have to feed off of each other, and I don't know this song, so I'm hoping that he doesn't do that.
- Dj passed out.
- In the yard - Barbies on - Bar - um, sorry.
Dj passed out in the yard Barbies shoot, what is that? I'm super nervous.
I want to stay in this competition so badly.
This is exactly what I want.
Here's my shot.
I'm not ready to go home.
[School bell rings.]
Up next Fight for it.
Remember, this is a competition.
We have some hard cutting to do because there's some of you that I think would win this contest and some of you who would not.
No Yes.
Yes, no.
Yes.
No.
I'm Scott Campbell.
I've been Scott Campbell for six hours now, and he is a sociopath.
I suppose I'm attracted to you.
Someone told me I should be.
Absolutely no sense of right and wrong.
Double The morphine.
I don't care if you have to triple the rufilin content of the baby food, you get those little fingers sewing again, okay? I'm Scott Campbell.
[Clicks ue.]
[School bell rings.]
So Let's talk about why do we have six people today? So it was adaptability week, and these six had the most problems with the theme.
- So who we gonna see first? - Nellie and Blake.
They both struggled to adapt this week.
Nellie is here because, in the video, she when she's in a group, she kind of fades away.
She fades.
And what we tried to tell her is you can be the same kind of awkward girl you are, the indie just, you have to pump it up enough to stand out in the group, figure out a way to pop.
Blake, he seemed to focus so much this week that, when he was when Zach gave him some choreography, you saw it in his face.
Hi, y'all! Both: Hey.
- I'm Blake.
- I'm Nellie.
And we're singing waiting ona boy /girllike you.
[Soft rock intro.]
so long I've been looking too hard I've been waiting too long sometimes I don't know what I will find I only know it's a matter of time when you love someone maybe I'm wrong won't you tell me if I'm coming on too strong this heart of mine has been hurt before this time I want to be sure I've been waiting for a girl like you to come into my life I've been waiting for a boy like you and a love that will survive - I've been waiting.
- Waiting for a boy.
For a girl both: like you to come into my life - [Applause.]
- Very nice.
[Applause.]
Well, that wasn't a last-chance performance, that was an opera.
- That was really nice.
- That was really great.
I thought you both did great.
I love your youth.
I love your vitality.
Just keep doing what you're doing if you come back, but just up it a little bit, give it some more energy and fight for it.
Remember this is a competition.
It's not a cakewalk.
I think you just need to be a little bit both of you a tiny bit more aggressive wanting it.
- Thank you, guys.
- Bye.
Thank you.
Thank you.
He's really got something.
So does she.
So who's next? Ali and Abraham.
Well, in the recording studio, Abraham was pitchy and Ali was a little over the top.
Okay, let's bring them out.
Look how cute you are.
- Thank you! - And thank you.
'Cause I know you were talking to me too, Ryan.
[Laughter.]
Both: Hi.
- I'm Ali.
- And I'm Abraham.
So what are you two singing? - Last Friday night.
- By Katy Perry.
[Upbeat pop music.]
- there's a stranger.
- In my bed - there's a pounding.
- In my head - glitter all.
- Around the room - pink flamingo.
- In the pool both: pictures of last night ended up online I'm screwed oh, well it's a blacked out blur but I'm pretty sure it ruled damn! Last Friday night yeah, we danced on tabletops and we took too many shots think we kissed but I forgot last Friday night yeah, we maxed our credit cards and we took too many shots so we hit the boulevard last Friday night we went streaking in the park skinny-dipping in the dark then had a menage a trois last Friday night yeah, I think we broke the law always say we're gonna stop uh whoa last Friday night do it all again oh both: last Friday night do it all again [laughter, applause.]
[Laughs.]
Thank you.
Um, I think you had a little bit of a word problem with the song.
But I think that Ali's like a little funny Dolly parton.
- Yeah! - Thank you.
I love Dolly! [Laughter.]
I had no idea you were such a good comedian.
Thank you.
But you two were charming and great.
Thank you.
Thank you very much.
- Thank you.
- I like her sexpot thing.
She's cute.
He's interesting to me.
I mean, I feel, of all the kids, he's in his head, and he's trying to always do the right thing.
But when, you know, you saw in the number, when he just forgets about it, he's fascinating and riveting.
Agreed.
Next is Mario and Charlie.
Mario is here Because, when he's not singing, he kind of disappears.
And he shouldn't disappear.
He is amazing.
Charlie His only issue was that, in the video, he made a very bizarre choice, to where, at one point, the video became all about Charlie.
- Okay.
- He's - sort of all over the place.
- Hey, boys.
- Hello.
I'm Charlie.
And I'm Mario.
And today we'll be singing don't let the sun go down on me.
Great.
[Piano intro.]
I can't light no more of your dark your darkness all my pictures seem to fade to black and white oh, yes, they do don't let the sun go down on me 'cause I always see someone other than me if I allow myself a fragment of your life to wander free.
To wander lord, hear me cry that losing everything Both: is like the sun going down on me yeah [applause.]
Good.
Well, I thought it was good.
I thought it was interesting and powerful.
I liked how sweet you were with each other.
This to me is where it gets you know, it's tricky because I think you two are both very talented.
But I think everybody, at this point, is so talented, you know? These are the tricky weeks.
But thank you.
You both did great tonight.
So let's bring everybody back.
Hi.
So this is the hard part of the competition, you know, for us.
All of you are so talented and so special, and I think would be so inspirational to the audience that watches our show.
But we have some hard cutting to do, so, Ali, Nellie, and Blake, you are safe.
So here's the thing, it's hard, you guys.
We are all fans of yours for different reasons, some more than others, and we'll start with you, Abraham.
The reason you're here tonight, to be quite honest, is because, of the six, I think yours was the weakest performance.
I think you got lost in the words a little bit.
I think Ali stole the number from you a little bit.
I think, if you're lucky enough to come back, and you get in this situation, I think you have to remember why you're here and why we think you are special because I think we lost that tonight.
Mario, the reason you're here in the bottom three is, again, you're a fabulous singer, you're very inspirational, we really do love you.
It really just came down to what we saw tonight in the video, which was your acting.
So, Charlie, the thing about you that I've always been worried about is, can you be a professional? 'Cause I don't doubt your talent, I doubt your professionalism, and I think this week you did better.
It's a very hard show to be on.
It's a very hard show to write to because you do have to be a star, and yet, you have to be a team player.
And all three of you this week struggled with that exact thing all for different reasons.
Thank you, and now we're going to talk privately, but good luck to you.
Well, let's talk about the bottom three.
I think Mario is such a lovely person, and I admire him so much, and I think what he's doing is almost near impossible.
But I thought that his acting wasn't sort of at the level of some of the other kids.
I think it's really that he is just not, at this point, as strong an actor.
I totally botched the whole director confusion that whole thing.
And so it's my fervent hope that the plug isn't pulled this early, but it is what it is.
The drawback to Charlie is I think that he's difficult to work with, and I don't know if he can come around to that, but that, again, is something that you guys have talked about repeatedly, so I think we've said it.
It's in the mentors' hands now.
That's, like, really the only thing I can say, is it is absolutely in the mentors' hands.
So do I think I could go home tomorrow? Yeah, absolutely.
And then there's Abraham, who I think is great, but who was, you know, not very good tonight, not good at all.
I think that we have to make some hard choices, and I think this is who I would send home.
- I agree.
- Sadly, I agree.
- Agree? - I do agree.
[Dramatic music.]
So The list is up.
You can go take a look.
[Indistinct conversation.]
Come, child.
[Laughs.]
[Sighs.]
All right.
- Bye, guys.
- I love you guys so much.
- I love you guys.
- Bye-bye.
See you, guys.
If I'm not called back, it would be really unfortunate just because I have so much more to show, and I have so much mo room to grow.
I don't know if I'm gonna go home or not.
It's the first time I've ever really been in complete doubt as to which one of the three of us is gonna be going home.
Whatever happens when I get to this list, I'm just gonna hope for the best.
It's just frightening because I'm so afraid that I'm going to go home.
Mm.
[Murmurs indistinctly.]
[Sniffs, crying.]
[Avril lavigne's keep holding on.]
I'm going to take with me, fromthe glee project, great professional and social experience that I think will change how I interact socially for the rest of my life.
When people watch this competition, I hope that they see a talented, fearless, inspirational young man that happens to be blind and not a blind person that they let on The Glee Project.
I'm so much more than that.
Blindness is the last thing on my list.
Guys, I've had a blast.
I really have.
I've learned a lot about myself, and I feel good.
I really do.
All: bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah, ah-ah bah bah bah bah bah, bah bah bah bah bah ah-ah there's nothing you can say there's nothing you can do there's no other way when it comes to the truth just keep holding on you know we'll make it through we'll make it through [school bell rings.]
The theme for this week is fearlessness.
Yes! I am not overthinking this one, 'cause if I do, then I will spiral and crash.
I'm sitting here talking out of my ass about how I'm gonna be confident, but, like, I don't know how I will be.
Today's guest is someone you will really not want to disappoint.
[Screams and applause.]
I need this to stop.
This has to stop.
[Sobbing.]
