The Titan Games (2019) s02e05 Episode Script
West Region 2: The True Meaning of a Titan
1
[Dwayne] Last week
This is close.
it was a night of upsets
in the Titan Arena.
Two world-class athletes
lost their Titan crown
-[audience gasp]
-[Alex] Jessie Graff. She's on the ground.
Victor Cruz, he's just destroyed up there.
[Dwayne] as two competitors,
an Air Force Captain
[Alex] Noah Palicia!
[audience cheering]
[Dwayne] and a wildland firefighter
-[Alex] Kelly Valdez, your new Titan!
-[audience cheering]
[Dwayne] took over Mount Olympus.
Tonight
Let me here the love, Titan Arena!
[cheering]
[Dwayne] They'll fight
to keep what they've earned.
To be a Titan,
you gotta come beat a Titan.
I will defend Mount Olympus.
Four killer competitors
from the Western Region
a wine maker, a physical therapist,
and two athletes with inspiring stories
are determined to walk out of this arena
as reigning Titans.
[grunting]
Wow, look at these athletes.
The battle to be the best
in the West continues.
Let The Titan Games begin!
[cheering]
[upbeat music playing]
[Mitch chuckles]
[Mitch] What you got?
[Exodus] I picked up a ball
at six years old.
It's been in my hand ever since.
How about you?
Oh, man. Best game in the world.
I played at Stanford.
We went to the Final Four three times,
two national championships.
You know I'm gonna bring it.
[Exodus] All right, let's do this.
All right. Let's go.
My name's Mitch Harrison,
I'm 32 years old,
coming from Kenai, Alaska,
and I work in security
as a security guard.
The very first time
I picked up a basketball,
I knew that this is what
I wanted to be great at.
I went and played basketball for Stanford
on a full-ride scholarship,
went to three Final Fours,
two national championship games,
and I competed as Michelle.
Well, Michelle Harrison
will go down in history
as the highest recruited female athlete
out of the state of Utah,
and to this point,
the only girl to be named
a McDonald's All-American.
-[somber music playing]
-So, I was born Michelle,
um, so you can consider me here
as a trans athlete,
and, uh, I am super proud of that.
I knew at about three years old
that I was different.
The household that I grew up in
was very, very conservative.
It was kind of an immediate, like,
"Oh, I need to suppress this."
But at the same time,
we were all very tight-knit.
It definitely got to a
point where it was
it was kind of gonna be
one way or the other,
where I either chose myself,
and I chose to just find my happiness,
or I'm lying to myself and everybody else.
Choosing the gender transition
would've helped me be happier,
but I knew that I was
gonna create a lot of conflict,
a lot of, um, turmoil.
The turning point really
was when I met my wife.
Right from the very first moment,
she was like,
"You need to do this."
[upbeat music playing]
To have her say that
and to offer me that support,
from that point on, it was,
like, floodgates open.
It's like the next day's better
than the day before.
Most of my immediate family
does not speak to me.
They're missing out
on such a better version of me
that they ever knew.
I think being here and competing as Mitch
is one of the most exciting things for me.
Now, I can enjoy it from the inside out.
[cheering, applause]
My name is Exodus Rogers.
I'm 32 years old,
and I run an athletic program
at the Sacramento County
Youth Detention Facility.
[somber music playing]
[Exodus] I work with over 100 kids
between the ages of 12 and 19.
What's up?
-[boy] Yo.
-[indistinct conversation]
[Exodus] Some of 'em come from backgrounds
where they don't have their parents.
Some of 'em are born into a gang.
Some of 'em think that
it's just cool to commit crimes
until they're behind bars
and then they see the light.
I could've easily became
one of these kids.
I grew up around that environment
that lands you in a place like this,
and somehow I got out.
[Exodus] It's important for me
to inspire these kids.
If you really get to know them,
you really see that they're smart,
they're athletic, they're hilarious.
They just need direction.
Just a little pain.
You get a little pain in life,
just gotta keep going.
All right? Keep going.
[Exodus] I'm living proof
that there's a way out.
When the kids find out where I'm from,
that I went to college,
that I built a good career,
it's like a light turns on in their head.
Push, push. Good, good, good.
[Exodus] If you can learn
to push yourself through sports,
you can learn to push yourself
through life.
By engaging these kids in sports,
I'm giving them discipline,
self-esteem, friendship.
I'm giving them something
positive to take a hold of.
[Exodus] I'm a beacon of hope for them.
Becoming a Titan will show them
that anything's possible.
[cheering, applause]
Hello, everyone, I'm Cari Champion,
alongside Goldenboy.
And Mitch and Exodus are both looking
for a shot at Mount Olympus
against tonight's reigning Titan,
Air Force captain, Noah Palicia.
They're all fighting to be crowned
the best in the West,
and that journey begins on a challenge
we call Launch Pad.
This is the perfect challenge
to kick things off
because Exodus and Mitch
have to kick off four slabs
hanging 15 feet off the ground.
Each slab weighs 250 pounds.
First to send all four flying
gets the first win of the night.
-[Mitch] We're here.
-[Exodus] Yeah.
-We're here.
-It's time.
You got this, babe! You got this!
Exodus, you're motivating young people
to make better choices in life.
Mitch, man, you are breaking barriers
and showing people
how to live their truth.
You were both picked to be here
for a reason.
You beat out thousands of people
just to make it to this Titan Arena.
Now it's time to show the world why.
Get ready for Launch Pad.
[cheering, applause]
[Alex] Exodus in the blue.
Mitch in the red.
They just need to be able to create speed,
-momentum, and give a good
-[grunts]
And look at Mitch go!
He's got one down already.
Mitch is off to a strong start.
Exodus needing to find
some stability here,
so he can create enough momentum,
and force with those legs
to get some good strong kicks
and knock down those slabs!
[dramatic musical sting]
[Alex] And Exodus answers.
-It's one to one.
-[grunts]
[Alex] But Mitch strikes again.
[grunts]
[Alex] Two for Exodus!
Two! Whoo!
Let's go, babe!
[Alex] Both Exodus and Mitch
have two slabs down
and two to go!
Mitch with a solid kick
but can't get it to fall.
Exodus building up momentum
with each swing,
trying to make good enough
contact to knock another off.
[shouts]
[Alex] Exodus is gonna get the third down.
[Cari] Oh! Exodus is just one slab away
from taking this first battle.
-[Alex] And Exodus with the four!
-[cheering]
[Alex] Oh, Exodus Rogers is your winner.
[Dwayne] Wow. Wow.
Boom.
Ooh, I see you up there.
Pretty impressive.
[Cari] And Titan Arena
showing Exodus some love.
There's Xs all around.
Let's go!
Let's go!
Mitch had the early lead.
He had that early lead.
Exodus, strong boy.
[Cari] Exodus, a juvenile hall deputy
giving some love to his wife
and biggest supporter, Cesia.
She's also a kids counselor,
and he says her work ethic
-Whoo!
-[Cari] inspires him every day.
[Dwayne] Good to meet you.
-Close!
-Aw, man.
-You got another shot.
-Another shot. Got it.
Another shot. Another shot.
Your kids are proud back in Sactown.
Great job. Great job.
Yeah! Throw it up! Throw it up!
I don't have feeling in my hand.
-Exodus squeezed my hand
-Yeah, he was more excited
-about meeting you than the game.
-[laughter]
-Hi.
-[Dwayne] Hi.
-How are you?
-Good to see you.
We ready.
You're not gonna tell us. We ready.
Let's do this, dude.
-No pressure.
-Yeah.
I'm Margaux Alvarez,
I'm 34 years old, and I own
a winery in California.
My parents loved wine.
I was actually named after
one of their favorite wines,
Châteaux Margaux.
So, I feel I was destined from birth
to be a winemaker.
To be a winemaker, it takes a lot of time
to be in the fields,
harvesting the grapes,
pulling 300-pound bins
of grapes through the sand.
We've done the crushing,
and have been able
to see the production of wine
coming from the grapes
all the way to the bottle.
Right now, I'm still pressing the white,
the Sauvignon blanc.
It's a lot of work,
but building it from the ground up
and putting the blood, sweat,
and tears in it
has been an amazing experience,
and I wouldn't trade it for the world.
But I've gone through lots
of highs and lots of lows.
[Margaux] Few years ago,
my middle sister, Kerstin's, life
was tragically taken away
in a car accident.
She was someone that lived
with such zest in life,
that I continue to live in honor for her.
The passing of my sister
ignited something inside me
where I'm like,
"I need to go after my goals,"
and I threw myself into fitness.
[man] Now reach with your left arm up.
[Margaux] Being here at The Titan Games
is where I'm supposed to be.
[woman cheers]
[Margaux] It's the pinnacle
of all my hard work
over the past few years.
I'm taking my sister's strength right now
to be the best version of myself
and go take what's mine.
I wanna be a Titan.
[cheering, applause]
My name's Kelly Stone, I'm 29 years old,
and I'm a physical therapist.
[upbeat rock music playing]
I'm an athlete, I'm super competitive,
and I don't like to lose.
Something you might not know about me
is that I am a four-time
belly flop champion.
[woman] Oh!
Every belly flop competition
is a little different.
Um, I've been in some
that style goes a long way,
so maybe I'll do a backflip
into the belly flop
and kinda win the crowd over like that.
-[woman laughs]
-[crowd cheers]
It takes a lot of grit
and a lot of sacrificing of pain
to be a belly flop champion.
There's definitely some technique to it.
You know, you gotta try to land
as flat as possible.
You're not just jumping into a pool,
you're making the best
belly flop that you can.
[woman] Yeah!
Something I'm super passionate about
throughout my life has just been movement,
and health, and fitness.
Um, it's definitely guided my career path.
Oh!
I'm a home health physical therapist,
and there is nothing better
than watching a little kiddo
take their first step.
One of the main reasons
I wanna do this competition
is to show my kiddos
that they can do anything
they set their mind to,
and I don't think it's honestly clicked
that I'm actually on this show.
It's crazy.
I am such a big fan of The Titan Games.
Last season my family
would all crowd around
to watch The Titan Games,
and I've watched the season
three times so far. [chuckles]
No matter what I'm doing,
I've just always been
super, super competitive,
and I'm ready for the next challenge.
I'm ready for The Titan Games.
Dwayne might be the Rock,
but I'm the Stone.
Kelly Stone.
[cheering, applause]
Have fun. Have fun.
-Thank you.
-Okay.
-Have fun.
-Thank you.
-Appreciate it. Thank you so much.
-Absolutely.
[Alex] So, it will be Margaux Alvarez
versus Kelly Stone.
The first one to win two battles
advances to Mount Olympus
to face reigning Titan,
firefighter Kelly Valdez.
Whoever holds the title in the West
locks their spot
in the Titan championship.
The competition between Margaux and Kelly
starts right here on Nuts and Bolts.
[dramatic music playing]
You need strength and strategy
to conquer this challenge.
Each wall is loaded down
with 1,200 pounds.
You have to screw off the end caps,
strip off the weights,
and when you think
that the wall is light enough,
run to the other side
and try to pull it down.
First one to bring down their wall
and pull the victory chain gets the win.
[cheering, applause]
[intense music playing]
[Alex] Got Kelly in the blue,
Margaux in the red.
[grunts]
[Alex] Both athletes have their work
cut out for them.
Those gold weights are 135 pounds,
and those silver underneath are 55 pounds.
Not an easy task to just throw them off.
[Cari] And look at Margaux
using those bottom weights as a ladder
to get some leverage
to help push weight off her wall.
Go, Margaux, go!
-Push it!
-Whoo!
[Alex] Both Margaux and Kelly
shedding as much weight
off their wall as they can.
Kelly, the physical therapist,
finishing off one of her posts.
There you go. There you go.
[grunts]
You got it, you got it. Go, Kelly!
[Cari] Alex, you know
you wanna make this wall
as light as possible
before trying to pull it down.
We've seen competitors go too early
and regret it.
[dramatic musical sting]
Go, Kelly!
Wow, this is close. This is close.
[Alex] All of their upper weights are off,
and now they move on to the bottom row,
and they're looking good, so far.
Neither one of them wants to go too early
and make a costly mistake.
Look, I I hope they don't.
This is a game of strategy right now.
[Margaux grunts]
[Cari] They have this crowd locked in.
-Can you hear that?
-Yes!
[Alex] This crowd is on fire.
-Unbelievable energy here
-Wow!
[Alex] in the Titan Arena.
Margaux the winemaker
only has three weights left.
She is getting closer to the opportunity
to bring the wall down
-But look at this!
-There goes Kelly!
[Alex] Kelly's going to the other side,
-and Margaux's right behind her.
-[Kelly grunts]
[Alex] They both have 245 pounds
of weight left on the wall.
Who's gonna get the upper hand here?
Come on, Kelly!
This is gonna be close.
This is gonna be close.
[Kelly grunting]
[Alex] Who's gonna dig deep?
[grunts]
[Alex] Who's gonna be stronger
in this moment in time
and bring down the victory chain?
-[Dwayne] Oh!
-[Gene] Come on, Kelly. Come on.
[Alex] Either way,
these two incredible athletes
-are bringing it all.
-[cheering]
[Alex] But Kelly, she's going back
to strip off more weight.
That may cost her!
Margaux Alvarez is still
gonna be on the attack.
-[Margaux grunts]
-[Alex] She locks in her wall!
[dramatic musical sting]
[Alex] She needs to just grab
that victory chain
-[cheering, applause]
-[Alex] And there it is!
Margaux wins the first battle!
[upbeat music playing]
Château Margaux Wine, anyone?
She deserves a glass.
Did she not earn it after that?
[Alex] Hundred percent.
-Nice job.
-You, too
What a matchup between these two
amazing athletes.
-[Dwayne] Great job. Great job.
-That was a good one.
[cheering, applause]
Great job.
You're just getting warmed up now.
You got another shot.
Great job. Great job.
[Alex] So, Margaux Alvarez
gets the first win
in this best of three battle.
Yeah!
Oh, I love you, honey.
-[Margaux] I love you, too.
-Oh, congratulations.
Thank you. Thank you.
Oh, man, that was a whirlwind.
Didn't go quite how I wanted it to,
but that's all right,
I got one more
and can't wait to get out there again.
I love this competition.
-It's the best.
-I love these athletes.
There's no quit.
[Exodus] I'm riding the wave
from the first win,
and I'm feeling good about it.
What's up, y'all?
-[all cheering]
-[Exodus] I got over a hundred kids
rooting for me
back in the detention facility.
They're what I'm holding on to
to get me through this next challenge.
Look.
[cheering]
Anything's possible, man.
You guys can do this too.
Anything you put your mind to,
y'all can do, man.
-[boy] For sure!
-[Exodus] I'm comin' back a Titan.
All right? It's for you guys.
[all cheering]
-Okay. I love you.
-You got it, babe.
[Mitch] You know, last time
being on a big stage like this
was in the NCAA championship game in 2010.
But that wasn't Mitch, back then.
This is the first opportunity for Mitch
to come out as a trans athlete
and be the champion that
he didn't get to be back then,
so it's time to make things right.
[cheering, applause]
[exhales]
-[cheering, applause]
-[upbeat music playing]
Mitch, you bring so much grit
and perseverance
to these Titan Games.
Exodus, you serve as a great motivator
to so many kids who need it.
But you know what?
No matter the outcome tonight,
you're both pillars of inspiration.
Gentlemen, best of luck.
This is Over the Edge.
[intense music playing]
[Alex] Exodus in the blue,
Mitch in the red.
You gotta reel in 75 feet of chain
and then 75 feet of rope,
then the tug of war starts.
First to drag that concrete box
back to trip the Titan T, wins.
Let's go, boys! They're digging in.
Go, babe! You got this!
[dramatic music plays]
[Alex] Here we go! Exodus with a big pull,
moving that 160-pound box closer to him.
[grunts]
Let's go, X!
[grunting]
[Alex] Mitch trying to force a tiebreaker.
-Get up!
-[Dwayne] Come on, come on, come on!
Here we go! Dig down!
[Alex] Now it comes down
to who can overpower the other.
[Cari] Mitch is 6'2", 200 pounds,
one of the biggest competitors we have
in the Western Region,
and then there's Exodus,
5'10", 180 pounds.
Not necessarily the biggest,
but proving to be one of the strongest.
[Exodus grunts]
[Alex] How much do you wanna be a Titan?
That's what this boils down to.
[grunts]
Let's go, Mitch. Dig down!
-[Alex] Exodus with a big pull.
-[grunting]
Let's go, X!
[Cari] What a battle.
Pull, babe!
[Alex] Exodus pulling
with all of his might.
[grunts]
[grunts, screams]
-[Alex] Oh!
-[cheering, applause]
[Alex] And Exodus Rogers
is going to Mount Olympus!
[Dwayne] Wow.
[rock music playing]
[Alex] Now, he'll battle
Air Force captain Noah Palicia
for a chance to become a Titan.
[Noah] I competed against Victor Cruz,
a Super Bowl champion.
Let's see how Exodus compares.
Whoo!
[Cari] His wife has to be so happy.
Congratulations, baby. Oh, my God!
I'm ready to go up against the next Titan,
'cause that's the next big challenge,
and I'm all about big challenges.
[Cari] Exodus, a juvenile hall deputy,
giving all the kids
he mentors back in Sacramento
something to root for tonight.
-Come on, Mitch.
-[somber music playing]
Ah, I wanted to make you
more proud than that.
No, no, no. I'm proud.
I'm proud.
I'm proud.
[cheering, applause]
Chin up!
You're good.
Good job. Good job.
You're good.
-Good run, man.
-Good job, man.
You go win it all.
It's disappointing,
but at the end of the day,
and I got to actually be
on the big stage as the real me,
and that's you know, that's priceless.
Thank you all.
[cheering, applause]
Trans athletes are athletes.
We are We are just as competitive,
just as capable.
-I tried.
-It's okay.
[Mitch] You know,
just as motivated and inspired.
We just wanna succeed,
and this is just
an opportunity of a lifetime
to show that it can happen.
We belong. We belong.
DJ, how does it make you feel
when they say they wanted
to make you proud?
-Right, like
-Yeah.
Every one of these athletes
also wants to do it for themselves,
but there's something about your story
that makes them want to do it
-for you as well.
-Special.
Yeah.
It's quite emotional, too.
You know, 'cause you look deep
in their eyes,
and, you know, when they say
something like that
So, all I can say was the truth,
which is I'm proud.
I'm proud.
[man] Okay, stand by.
Get ready for Lunar Impact.
Lunar Impact,
one of the craziest competitions
that we have ever laid eyes on.
[Kelly] Stakes are high today.
If I lose one more, I'm out.
I gotta step up my game,
and I gotta make it one to one.
-Let's crush it.
-Good luck, girl.
You too.
[upbeat music playing]
How you doing? How you doing?
[Margaux] Winning this event
will allow me to propel
going to Mount Olympus.
For me, it would mean everything.
I'm here for my sister,
to represent her strength.
She can't be here in this present moment,
so I'm here for her to be able
to extend her life
in a different form and fashion.
This is my last chance,
this is my last shot,
and so I'm not going down without a fight.
[Dwayne] Margaux, Kelly,
you set a goal to live life
to the fullest.
Now you're about to go head-to-head,
high above the arena,
in front of millions
and millions of people,
and a chance to become a Titan.
Welcome to your new goal,
Conquer Lunar Impact.
[intense music playing]
[cheering]
[Alex] Kelly in the blue,
Margaux in the red,
and now it's about flying up those ladders
to get up to the top of that platform
and tip that wall in your favor.
And Kelly's up first
and coming around quick.
-Oh! Margaux takes a big hit
-[grunts]
[Alex] but somehow,
she's still on her feet.
Yes. Great job.
[Alex] Yeah, at this point in time,
it's really a battle about
who's gonna able to endure
-in this kind of position.
-[Margaux grunting]
[Alex] But as it stands right now,
Margaux's gonna be pushing
this one forward.
Go, Margaux! Go, Margaux!
Let's go, ladies.
[Alex] Kelly Stone fighting back here.
[Kelly screams]
[Cari] Kelly Stone,
she's not just a belly flop champ.
She's competed in just about everything.
She was a gymnast, a swimmer,
so I can't see her giving up that easily.
[Alex] Margaux's trying her best
to hold this one off
and stop the attack from Kelly Stone
but can't seem to find the right stance.
Now she has her back against the wall.
Oh, wait a minute!
Ms. Alvarez is pushing this one forward.
Yes! Yes!
Wow.
Kelly Stone doing her best
while maintaining a position,
and she has actually just
extended her arms completely.
She's giving it everything she has.
Margaux's had the momentum,
but now Kelly is moving her back
inch by inch.
[grunts]
Go, Kelly! Come on, Kel!
[Cari] DJ, take a look
at Kelly's technique.
-What do you think?
-I mean, Kelly's using everything.
She's got lower body power and strength,
so she's able to do that
while she's extending her arms
for leverage and hold off Margaux.
But again, as you guys know,
this is the point.
It's lactic acid, it's building up.
It's fatigue.
[dynamic music playing]
[Alex] Kelly Stone living up
to her last name.
She's planted like a stone.
She's not trying to let Margaux
-get any path to Mount Olympus.
-[grunts]
-Whoo!
-Go, Margaux!
[Cari] And Margaux's mom and sister
cheering for Margaux,
knowing that she's pushing through
for her sister Kerstin.
[Alex] There you go!
Oh! Oh! Kelly stood up,
and Margaux was able to get some leverage
and keep pushing.
Big opportunity here for the winemaker
as she continues to apply
the pressure to Kelly Stone.
-Kelly Stone.
-[Cari] She's moving her.
[Alex] She did everything she could
to try to bring this one back.
[Cari] She's moving her.
She's right there. Kelly's holding on.
But Margaux Alvarez is right there
right there to Mount Olympus!
[Cari] Does Kelly have
one more push in her?
-[Alex] Oh, she's doing it.
-[Cari] Does Kelly have it?
[Alex] She's trying.
She's trying to hold on.
[grunts]
But it's not enough!
[cheering, applause]
Whoo!
[Alex] Margaux Alvarez is your winner!
[upbeat music playing]
[Cari] Goldenboy, Margaux has one motto,
"Work hard, wind down."
[Alex] Well, you can rest easy
for at least the time being,
but next up is that beast of a mountain.
There you are.
Great job. Catch your breath.
-That was a good one.
-Great job.
-Thank you.
-Great job.
-Thank you.
-Great job.
You're going to Mount Olympus.
But she's gotta beat a Titan.
You may be strong, Margaux,
but you're going down.
Hold your head up. It was good.
I love you.
[Cari] You gotta love Kelly Stone's mom.
"Hold your head up."
Kelly definitely has nothing
to be ashamed of.
Margaux's mom greeting her,
letting her know that
they're so proud of her.
I love you!
[Margaux] I love you so much.
Kerstin was here with you, I saw her.
[sobbing]
I'm so proud of you.
[Margaux] Thank you for being so amazing.
Thinking about my sister.
Kers would be so proud.
I know she's not here physically,
but she's here with me in spirit,
and being able to channel her
to be able to do
what I need to do physically,
gives me the emotional
and mental strength.
Even though I'm crying, it's happy tears.
[Cari] What a special moment
for Margaux's mom right now.
She's celebrating victory
with one daughter
and honoring the memory of another.
[Alex] A lot to be proud of here
because she won 2-0.
-A clean sweep to Mount Olympus.
-[Dwayne] That was amazing.
Should we not give her a glass of wine?
I mean, did she earn it?
I mean, she Wine and tequila.
-It's wine and
-That's what it is.
-More importantly, it's tequila.
-Yes.
-[chuckles]
-That's a great combination.
-How would you know, Goldenboy?
-[laughs]
Many crazy nights in the video game world.
-Okay?
-[laughter]
[Exodus] I'm excited to be going up
against a Titan.
This is the challenge
I've been dying for all my life.
And I need it. I want it.
I'm 2-0, but it's like I'm 0-0.
I haven't conquered Mount Olympus yet.
I haven't conquered a Titan.
I'm still humble. I'm still hungry.
[dramatic musical sting]
[Exodus] My family,
my kids back in the facility,
I love you all.
Get familiar with the X.
It's not going nowhere.
So, Exodus Rogers won two matches
to get here tonight, Goldenboy.
[Alex] The juvenile hall deputy
is ready to lay down the law,
but he's facing a pilot who
took down a Super Bowl champ.
New Titan,
Noah Palicia!
Look where I am today.
I'm a freaking Titan.
Beating Victor Cruz, Super Bowl champion,
felt unreal.
Whoo! Yes!
I'm blessed to be here right now.
A little part of me represents
every single airman
that's out there across the world.
[dramatic music playing]
[Noah] In the Air Force,
I'm a C-130J instructor pilot,
currently in the 36th Airlift Squadron.
Pilot training
for the United States Air Force
tests everything,
both mental and physical,
and if you're not executing perfectly,
you're out.
-[Cari] Oh, my goodness.
-One more!
I firmly believe that
competing against my brother
in the first obstacles of The Titan Games
definitely prepared me
to compete against anybody.
I may not look like much,
but I've won six obstacle course races.
I can dead lift 420 pounds.
Exodus, I came in here as Captain Palicia.
Now, I'm Titan Palicia,
and I will defend Mount Olympus.
[dramatic music playing]
[cheering, applause]
[Alex] Here comes Noah Palicia!
This pilot's mission tonight,
-protect his Titan title.
-Let's go, bro.
[Alex] But that means another
strenuous side-by-side race
on Mount Olympus.
Noah survived this gauntlet last week,
pushing through all ten brutal obstacles
using his speed, strength, and stamina.
It's a challenge that will push
even the toughest athletes to their limit.
Exodus, you powered your way here
with consecutive wins,
and you're facing
our reigning Titan, Noah.
You're both riding a wave of momentum,
but that's about to change.
Exodus, Noah
this is Mount Olympus.
[intense music playing]
[Alex] Exodus Rogers in the blue.
He is your challenger.
Noah Palicia is your Titan in the black.
And look at these men go already, Cari,
just soaring through the starting gates
-onward to the Box Flip.
-[Cari] Yeah, neck and neck.
This is really something interesting.
Exodus actually injured his knee
a few years ago.
He said that he was determined
to get stronger
and started working out seven days a week,
and you can tell.
He looks so smooth right now.
Wow.
[grunting]
[Alex] Now at the Log Lift,
you need to march up that incline
and get your 200-pound log
all the way up to the top
before you can move on.
Look at these athletes!
[Alex] Both Noah and Exodus
at the Sky Bridge.
Those chains weigh 120 pounds each.
[Cari] Exodus has proven to be
a formidable competitor tonight,
winning two straight challenges
to get to Mount Olympus,
but the ultimate test, folks,
is if he can beat a Titan.
Noah proved that last week
when he knocked out
Super Bowl champion, Victor Cruz.
[Alex] That's right, Cari,
and that was after three grueling battles
with his brother, Eric.
Noah has managed
to bring down his bridge first,
but Exodus, not far behind.
It's close, it's close, it's close.
[Alex] Both men enter the Cage Crawl.
It's a tight squeeze,
and both athletes have to go
down, up, and back down again
before they can move on
and tackle the Drop Zone.
[screams]
[Alex] It is not easy, but you can see
just what Exodus is doing here.
He is just tearing through
this alongside Noah.
They both wanna be
the baddest men in the West.
[Alex] Noah is first out
of the Cage Crawl,
and now he'll work his way
down the Drop Zone
of our relentless mountain.
[cheering, applause]
[Alex] Exodus is looking a little shaky
coming down.
-[dramatic musical sting]
-[grunts]
-Oh, boy, he took a nasty spill.
-[audience gasp]
[Alex] What do these two have left
for this 300-pound Ball and Chain?
[Dwayne] This could be it.
Let's see what Exodus has.
[Alex] It is your last gasp.
Who is gonna be able
to just will it all
and take that Relic out of tomb?
There you go.
-[screaming]
-[Cari] Oh, my goodness!
Exodus letting out a big scream.
Perhaps that's his way
of pushing through the pain.
-[dramatic musical sting]
-[screaming]
-[grunts]
-Oh, no!
-[audience gasp]
-[Alex] Exodus hit the ground hard.
[dramatic music playing]
[Alex] But somehow he's back on his feet.
Does he have any fight left in him?
[dramatic musical sting]
[Alex] Noah hacking away at the tomb.
Let's go!
[thudding]
[Cari] Goldenboy, I cannot talk
about the sheer exhaustion
that they're feeling right now,
but still mustering up enough strength
to use that hammer.
[Alex] Noah Palicia
has the Relic in his hands
and for the second time
[lock clicks]
-Yeah!
-[cheering, applause]
-[Alex] Noah Palicia is your Titan!
-[upbeat music playing]
Yes!
Whoo!
[upbeat music playing]
Yes!
[Cari] The Titan Tomb,
the Relic, the Turn
Give it up for Noah Palicia,
Air Force Captain.
-Whoo!
-[Dwayne] Come on.
-What's up?
-Great job.
-Whoo!
-[Alex] Stationed far away in Japan
where he serves our country
as an Air Force pilot.
Able to come thousands of miles to compete
-in the Titan Arena and win.
-Whoo!
[Noah] Two-time Mount Olympus champion.
It feels incredible.
[cheering, applause]
[Cari] Noah going over to his wife.
I love you.
-[Cari] The entire Palicia family
-Yes!
Yes!
[Cari] his brother,
so excited to see him yet again
maintain that Titan crown.
Exodus, your wife is proud.
This arena is proud.
That is not the last that we have seen
-of one Exodus Rogers.
-[Alex] That's right, Cari.
He'll be back in two weeks
for the regional final
and a shot at redemption.
Something tells me
he won't go down easily a second time.
Noah, that was an amazing performance.
You represent our military.
You represent your family.
You represent your brother.
[cheering]
Titan Games,
Mount Olympus two-time champion.
Let's go. One more to go.
You got two wins in a row.
Let's see if you can make it three
next week. Great job.
[cheering]
[Margaux] I'm super excited.
All my hard work has led to this.
I came here to be a Titan,
to physically give everything I've got.
Kelly Valdez, she's a strong competitor,
but I'm just as strong,
so it's gonna be a battle
on Mount Olympus,
and I wanna get there
and stay on top of that mountain
till the end.
She charges into the middle
of a massive inferno,
and now she's back
to save her Titan crown.
It's firefighter Kelly Valdez!
[dramatic musical sting]
[Alex] Kelly Valdez is your new Titan!
It feels fantastic to be a Titan.
I didn't think I'd be able to stand up
against Jessie Graff.
[Alex] Jessie Graff
has just been unbelievable
on Ninja Warrior.
[Kelly Valdez] I was very nervous.
Jessie does this kind of stuff
basically all the time.
But luckily, everything
I've been through in life
has made me tough
and has made me be a Titan.
I was 22 years old
when I entered the Coast Guard.
They pushed me to do things
to the best of my ability.
When I got out of the Coast Guard,
I knew I wanted to be a firefighter
for the U.S. Forest Service.
Taking on Mount Olympus
was definitely similar
to the mountains that I take on
in my everyday life.
Being a wildland firefighter,
we definitely have to adapt on the fly
because everything's always changing.
We could be out
in the middle of the forest
with a mountain on fire
and the winds change,
so you're just always on your toes.
[cheering]
So, I've taken on Mount Olympus once
and came out on top, so let's do it again.
Margaux, to be a Titan,
you gotta come beat a Titan.
[dramatic musical sting]
[Alex] She walks through fire
and is back to defend her crown.
It's Kelly Valdez.
She and Margaux
are headed up the mountain,
but only one can walk away
as our Titan tonight.
Margaux, you dominated earlier tonight,
winning two straight competitions,
and that's a good thing,
because your opponent Kelly
dominated on Mount Olympus last week.
Two unstoppable freight trains
on a collision course
to Titan glory.
Exactly how I dreamt this whole thing up.
Margaux, Kelly
it's time for Mount Olympus.
[intense music playing]
[Alex] Here we go.
Margaux Alvarez in the red,
our Titan Kelly Valdez in the black.
We're starting with the Starting Gates,
and so far so good
for our two competitors.
[Dwayne] Come on, come on, come on,
here we go!
[Cari] When Kelly Valdez
was here last week,
she got off to a slow start
against Jessie Graff.
But not today. She's got her rhythm.
Margaux's staying with her side-by-side.
This is shaping up
to be a good one, folks.
These girls are close already.
It's close already.
[Alex] On to the Log Lift.
Both competitors have to carry
a hundred pounds
-up that steep incline.
-[audience] Oh!
[Alex] Looks like Kelly is struggling
to get a good grip on the log.
-Come on, Kel. Go, go, go.
-Come on, Kelly!
[cheering, applause]
[Alex] Margaux finishing up
on the Log Lift,
moving on to the Sky Bridge.
She'll have to remove 240 pounds of weight
to get that bridge to fall.
-Kelly got hung up.
-[Kelly Valdez grunts]
[Alex] Kelly Valdez
hung up on that Log Lift.
That's 100 pounds
that you have to bring up
the mountain there.
It's like helping your friend move.
Unfortunately, your friend
doesn't like you very much.
[Cari] Meanwhile,
Margaux is moving through this.
She told me earlier
that this was for her sister.
Her sister passed away,
but taught her before she passed away
to push for your dreams.
So, she's fighting for dreams right now.
Whoo!
Go, Margaux!
[Alex] Sometimes,
it is the intangibles in life
that push us the furthest,
and for Margaux Alvarez,
it seems as if so far
this been working out for her.
She has this lead.
Kelly Valdez right behind her.
Let's go, ladies. Let's go, ladies.
[Alex] Each turn lowers the pin
that will release the bridge.
And the bridge falls for Margaux.
The winemaker keeps her lead
heading into the Cage Crawl.
[Cari] While Kelly is one of only
two women in her fire department,
she has to prove herself
every day on the job,
and that's the determination
you're seeing right here.
Then you have Margaux
who continues to push herself.
She's powering through the Cage Crawl.
But now Kelly has her bridge down.
-Come on!
-[Alex] Kelly knows what to expect
from this Cage Crawl.
You have to be fast,
you have to fly through this.
Margaux though,
is doing a brilliant job here
keeping the pace up.
She makes her way down the Drop Zone,
and now Margaux Alvarez
is down the mountain
and about to embark on the Ball and Chain.
I told you, Châteaux Margaux,
she does a 40-mile outrigger
canoe race for fun.
-For fun, DJ!
-[Dwayne] Wow. 40 miles?
Look at her pulling the ball.
-Wow.
-[Alex] Oh, my word!
That is digging deep.
Margaux Alvarez makes it look easy.
We could be looking at a new Titan here!
200 pounds like it's nothing.
[Alex] She moved that
like it was a paperweight.
-Let's go, Margaux.
-[Alex] And now,
-there goes that power
-Boom!
-[Alex] That upper body strength.
-Come on.
[dramatic musical sting]
[hammer thuds]
There it is.
-You got it! Let's go!
-Go, go, go!
[Alex] On the mountain,
Kelly Valdez struggling to get down.
Go, go, go!
-[hammer thuds]
-There you go.
[Cari] But Margaux, she's letting
her body do the talking.
She's letting her body do the talking!
[Alex] You now need to sift through
all of that rubble
and take out the Relic.
Has the Relic in her hand.
And the winemaker is now a Titan!
-[upbeat music playing]
-[cheering, applause]
[Alex] Margaux Alvarez is your winner!
[cheering]
Congratulations, champ.
-Thank you. That was a
-Great job.
That was awesome.
Great job. Great job.
There we go.
-Thank you so much.
-You got it.
Get over there.
-Good job, girl.
-Nice job, dude.
You did completely awesome.
You're awesome.
I am now a Titan. Thank you!
Now, I'm gonna keep
on top of that mountain
as long as I can.
[Jane] You did it, baby!
You did it again and again.
-Thank you. I love you.
-I love you.
[Alex] So, Kelly Valdez
loses her Titan crown,
but she'll return in two weeks
as a competitor for the Western finals
and a chance to get it back.
Ladies and gentlemen,
new Titan, Margaux Alvarez.
[cheering, applause]
Absolutely dominating Mount Olympus.
We are proud. Everybody at home is proud.
Congratulations.
We will see you next week,
here on The Titan Games.
[cheering, applause]
-You did great. Awesome.
-Thank you.
We'll take a shot
of your tequila and some wine.
Yes, we will, yes.
Take a shot of tequila and some wine.
[theme music plays]
[Dwayne] Last week
This is close.
it was a night of upsets
in the Titan Arena.
Two world-class athletes
lost their Titan crown
-[audience gasp]
-[Alex] Jessie Graff. She's on the ground.
Victor Cruz, he's just destroyed up there.
[Dwayne] as two competitors,
an Air Force Captain
[Alex] Noah Palicia!
[audience cheering]
[Dwayne] and a wildland firefighter
-[Alex] Kelly Valdez, your new Titan!
-[audience cheering]
[Dwayne] took over Mount Olympus.
Tonight
Let me here the love, Titan Arena!
[cheering]
[Dwayne] They'll fight
to keep what they've earned.
To be a Titan,
you gotta come beat a Titan.
I will defend Mount Olympus.
Four killer competitors
from the Western Region
a wine maker, a physical therapist,
and two athletes with inspiring stories
are determined to walk out of this arena
as reigning Titans.
[grunting]
Wow, look at these athletes.
The battle to be the best
in the West continues.
Let The Titan Games begin!
[cheering]
[upbeat music playing]
[Mitch chuckles]
[Mitch] What you got?
[Exodus] I picked up a ball
at six years old.
It's been in my hand ever since.
How about you?
Oh, man. Best game in the world.
I played at Stanford.
We went to the Final Four three times,
two national championships.
You know I'm gonna bring it.
[Exodus] All right, let's do this.
All right. Let's go.
My name's Mitch Harrison,
I'm 32 years old,
coming from Kenai, Alaska,
and I work in security
as a security guard.
The very first time
I picked up a basketball,
I knew that this is what
I wanted to be great at.
I went and played basketball for Stanford
on a full-ride scholarship,
went to three Final Fours,
two national championship games,
and I competed as Michelle.
Well, Michelle Harrison
will go down in history
as the highest recruited female athlete
out of the state of Utah,
and to this point,
the only girl to be named
a McDonald's All-American.
-[somber music playing]
-So, I was born Michelle,
um, so you can consider me here
as a trans athlete,
and, uh, I am super proud of that.
I knew at about three years old
that I was different.
The household that I grew up in
was very, very conservative.
It was kind of an immediate, like,
"Oh, I need to suppress this."
But at the same time,
we were all very tight-knit.
It definitely got to a
point where it was
it was kind of gonna be
one way or the other,
where I either chose myself,
and I chose to just find my happiness,
or I'm lying to myself and everybody else.
Choosing the gender transition
would've helped me be happier,
but I knew that I was
gonna create a lot of conflict,
a lot of, um, turmoil.
The turning point really
was when I met my wife.
Right from the very first moment,
she was like,
"You need to do this."
[upbeat music playing]
To have her say that
and to offer me that support,
from that point on, it was,
like, floodgates open.
It's like the next day's better
than the day before.
Most of my immediate family
does not speak to me.
They're missing out
on such a better version of me
that they ever knew.
I think being here and competing as Mitch
is one of the most exciting things for me.
Now, I can enjoy it from the inside out.
[cheering, applause]
My name is Exodus Rogers.
I'm 32 years old,
and I run an athletic program
at the Sacramento County
Youth Detention Facility.
[somber music playing]
[Exodus] I work with over 100 kids
between the ages of 12 and 19.
What's up?
-[boy] Yo.
-[indistinct conversation]
[Exodus] Some of 'em come from backgrounds
where they don't have their parents.
Some of 'em are born into a gang.
Some of 'em think that
it's just cool to commit crimes
until they're behind bars
and then they see the light.
I could've easily became
one of these kids.
I grew up around that environment
that lands you in a place like this,
and somehow I got out.
[Exodus] It's important for me
to inspire these kids.
If you really get to know them,
you really see that they're smart,
they're athletic, they're hilarious.
They just need direction.
Just a little pain.
You get a little pain in life,
just gotta keep going.
All right? Keep going.
[Exodus] I'm living proof
that there's a way out.
When the kids find out where I'm from,
that I went to college,
that I built a good career,
it's like a light turns on in their head.
Push, push. Good, good, good.
[Exodus] If you can learn
to push yourself through sports,
you can learn to push yourself
through life.
By engaging these kids in sports,
I'm giving them discipline,
self-esteem, friendship.
I'm giving them something
positive to take a hold of.
[Exodus] I'm a beacon of hope for them.
Becoming a Titan will show them
that anything's possible.
[cheering, applause]
Hello, everyone, I'm Cari Champion,
alongside Goldenboy.
And Mitch and Exodus are both looking
for a shot at Mount Olympus
against tonight's reigning Titan,
Air Force captain, Noah Palicia.
They're all fighting to be crowned
the best in the West,
and that journey begins on a challenge
we call Launch Pad.
This is the perfect challenge
to kick things off
because Exodus and Mitch
have to kick off four slabs
hanging 15 feet off the ground.
Each slab weighs 250 pounds.
First to send all four flying
gets the first win of the night.
-[Mitch] We're here.
-[Exodus] Yeah.
-We're here.
-It's time.
You got this, babe! You got this!
Exodus, you're motivating young people
to make better choices in life.
Mitch, man, you are breaking barriers
and showing people
how to live their truth.
You were both picked to be here
for a reason.
You beat out thousands of people
just to make it to this Titan Arena.
Now it's time to show the world why.
Get ready for Launch Pad.
[cheering, applause]
[Alex] Exodus in the blue.
Mitch in the red.
They just need to be able to create speed,
-momentum, and give a good
-[grunts]
And look at Mitch go!
He's got one down already.
Mitch is off to a strong start.
Exodus needing to find
some stability here,
so he can create enough momentum,
and force with those legs
to get some good strong kicks
and knock down those slabs!
[dramatic musical sting]
[Alex] And Exodus answers.
-It's one to one.
-[grunts]
[Alex] But Mitch strikes again.
[grunts]
[Alex] Two for Exodus!
Two! Whoo!
Let's go, babe!
[Alex] Both Exodus and Mitch
have two slabs down
and two to go!
Mitch with a solid kick
but can't get it to fall.
Exodus building up momentum
with each swing,
trying to make good enough
contact to knock another off.
[shouts]
[Alex] Exodus is gonna get the third down.
[Cari] Oh! Exodus is just one slab away
from taking this first battle.
-[Alex] And Exodus with the four!
-[cheering]
[Alex] Oh, Exodus Rogers is your winner.
[Dwayne] Wow. Wow.
Boom.
Ooh, I see you up there.
Pretty impressive.
[Cari] And Titan Arena
showing Exodus some love.
There's Xs all around.
Let's go!
Let's go!
Mitch had the early lead.
He had that early lead.
Exodus, strong boy.
[Cari] Exodus, a juvenile hall deputy
giving some love to his wife
and biggest supporter, Cesia.
She's also a kids counselor,
and he says her work ethic
-Whoo!
-[Cari] inspires him every day.
[Dwayne] Good to meet you.
-Close!
-Aw, man.
-You got another shot.
-Another shot. Got it.
Another shot. Another shot.
Your kids are proud back in Sactown.
Great job. Great job.
Yeah! Throw it up! Throw it up!
I don't have feeling in my hand.
-Exodus squeezed my hand
-Yeah, he was more excited
-about meeting you than the game.
-[laughter]
-Hi.
-[Dwayne] Hi.
-How are you?
-Good to see you.
We ready.
You're not gonna tell us. We ready.
Let's do this, dude.
-No pressure.
-Yeah.
I'm Margaux Alvarez,
I'm 34 years old, and I own
a winery in California.
My parents loved wine.
I was actually named after
one of their favorite wines,
Châteaux Margaux.
So, I feel I was destined from birth
to be a winemaker.
To be a winemaker, it takes a lot of time
to be in the fields,
harvesting the grapes,
pulling 300-pound bins
of grapes through the sand.
We've done the crushing,
and have been able
to see the production of wine
coming from the grapes
all the way to the bottle.
Right now, I'm still pressing the white,
the Sauvignon blanc.
It's a lot of work,
but building it from the ground up
and putting the blood, sweat,
and tears in it
has been an amazing experience,
and I wouldn't trade it for the world.
But I've gone through lots
of highs and lots of lows.
[Margaux] Few years ago,
my middle sister, Kerstin's, life
was tragically taken away
in a car accident.
She was someone that lived
with such zest in life,
that I continue to live in honor for her.
The passing of my sister
ignited something inside me
where I'm like,
"I need to go after my goals,"
and I threw myself into fitness.
[man] Now reach with your left arm up.
[Margaux] Being here at The Titan Games
is where I'm supposed to be.
[woman cheers]
[Margaux] It's the pinnacle
of all my hard work
over the past few years.
I'm taking my sister's strength right now
to be the best version of myself
and go take what's mine.
I wanna be a Titan.
[cheering, applause]
My name's Kelly Stone, I'm 29 years old,
and I'm a physical therapist.
[upbeat rock music playing]
I'm an athlete, I'm super competitive,
and I don't like to lose.
Something you might not know about me
is that I am a four-time
belly flop champion.
[woman] Oh!
Every belly flop competition
is a little different.
Um, I've been in some
that style goes a long way,
so maybe I'll do a backflip
into the belly flop
and kinda win the crowd over like that.
-[woman laughs]
-[crowd cheers]
It takes a lot of grit
and a lot of sacrificing of pain
to be a belly flop champion.
There's definitely some technique to it.
You know, you gotta try to land
as flat as possible.
You're not just jumping into a pool,
you're making the best
belly flop that you can.
[woman] Yeah!
Something I'm super passionate about
throughout my life has just been movement,
and health, and fitness.
Um, it's definitely guided my career path.
Oh!
I'm a home health physical therapist,
and there is nothing better
than watching a little kiddo
take their first step.
One of the main reasons
I wanna do this competition
is to show my kiddos
that they can do anything
they set their mind to,
and I don't think it's honestly clicked
that I'm actually on this show.
It's crazy.
I am such a big fan of The Titan Games.
Last season my family
would all crowd around
to watch The Titan Games,
and I've watched the season
three times so far. [chuckles]
No matter what I'm doing,
I've just always been
super, super competitive,
and I'm ready for the next challenge.
I'm ready for The Titan Games.
Dwayne might be the Rock,
but I'm the Stone.
Kelly Stone.
[cheering, applause]
Have fun. Have fun.
-Thank you.
-Okay.
-Have fun.
-Thank you.
-Appreciate it. Thank you so much.
-Absolutely.
[Alex] So, it will be Margaux Alvarez
versus Kelly Stone.
The first one to win two battles
advances to Mount Olympus
to face reigning Titan,
firefighter Kelly Valdez.
Whoever holds the title in the West
locks their spot
in the Titan championship.
The competition between Margaux and Kelly
starts right here on Nuts and Bolts.
[dramatic music playing]
You need strength and strategy
to conquer this challenge.
Each wall is loaded down
with 1,200 pounds.
You have to screw off the end caps,
strip off the weights,
and when you think
that the wall is light enough,
run to the other side
and try to pull it down.
First one to bring down their wall
and pull the victory chain gets the win.
[cheering, applause]
[intense music playing]
[Alex] Got Kelly in the blue,
Margaux in the red.
[grunts]
[Alex] Both athletes have their work
cut out for them.
Those gold weights are 135 pounds,
and those silver underneath are 55 pounds.
Not an easy task to just throw them off.
[Cari] And look at Margaux
using those bottom weights as a ladder
to get some leverage
to help push weight off her wall.
Go, Margaux, go!
-Push it!
-Whoo!
[Alex] Both Margaux and Kelly
shedding as much weight
off their wall as they can.
Kelly, the physical therapist,
finishing off one of her posts.
There you go. There you go.
[grunts]
You got it, you got it. Go, Kelly!
[Cari] Alex, you know
you wanna make this wall
as light as possible
before trying to pull it down.
We've seen competitors go too early
and regret it.
[dramatic musical sting]
Go, Kelly!
Wow, this is close. This is close.
[Alex] All of their upper weights are off,
and now they move on to the bottom row,
and they're looking good, so far.
Neither one of them wants to go too early
and make a costly mistake.
Look, I I hope they don't.
This is a game of strategy right now.
[Margaux grunts]
[Cari] They have this crowd locked in.
-Can you hear that?
-Yes!
[Alex] This crowd is on fire.
-Unbelievable energy here
-Wow!
[Alex] in the Titan Arena.
Margaux the winemaker
only has three weights left.
She is getting closer to the opportunity
to bring the wall down
-But look at this!
-There goes Kelly!
[Alex] Kelly's going to the other side,
-and Margaux's right behind her.
-[Kelly grunts]
[Alex] They both have 245 pounds
of weight left on the wall.
Who's gonna get the upper hand here?
Come on, Kelly!
This is gonna be close.
This is gonna be close.
[Kelly grunting]
[Alex] Who's gonna dig deep?
[grunts]
[Alex] Who's gonna be stronger
in this moment in time
and bring down the victory chain?
-[Dwayne] Oh!
-[Gene] Come on, Kelly. Come on.
[Alex] Either way,
these two incredible athletes
-are bringing it all.
-[cheering]
[Alex] But Kelly, she's going back
to strip off more weight.
That may cost her!
Margaux Alvarez is still
gonna be on the attack.
-[Margaux grunts]
-[Alex] She locks in her wall!
[dramatic musical sting]
[Alex] She needs to just grab
that victory chain
-[cheering, applause]
-[Alex] And there it is!
Margaux wins the first battle!
[upbeat music playing]
Château Margaux Wine, anyone?
She deserves a glass.
Did she not earn it after that?
[Alex] Hundred percent.
-Nice job.
-You, too
What a matchup between these two
amazing athletes.
-[Dwayne] Great job. Great job.
-That was a good one.
[cheering, applause]
Great job.
You're just getting warmed up now.
You got another shot.
Great job. Great job.
[Alex] So, Margaux Alvarez
gets the first win
in this best of three battle.
Yeah!
Oh, I love you, honey.
-[Margaux] I love you, too.
-Oh, congratulations.
Thank you. Thank you.
Oh, man, that was a whirlwind.
Didn't go quite how I wanted it to,
but that's all right,
I got one more
and can't wait to get out there again.
I love this competition.
-It's the best.
-I love these athletes.
There's no quit.
[Exodus] I'm riding the wave
from the first win,
and I'm feeling good about it.
What's up, y'all?
-[all cheering]
-[Exodus] I got over a hundred kids
rooting for me
back in the detention facility.
They're what I'm holding on to
to get me through this next challenge.
Look.
[cheering]
Anything's possible, man.
You guys can do this too.
Anything you put your mind to,
y'all can do, man.
-[boy] For sure!
-[Exodus] I'm comin' back a Titan.
All right? It's for you guys.
[all cheering]
-Okay. I love you.
-You got it, babe.
[Mitch] You know, last time
being on a big stage like this
was in the NCAA championship game in 2010.
But that wasn't Mitch, back then.
This is the first opportunity for Mitch
to come out as a trans athlete
and be the champion that
he didn't get to be back then,
so it's time to make things right.
[cheering, applause]
[exhales]
-[cheering, applause]
-[upbeat music playing]
Mitch, you bring so much grit
and perseverance
to these Titan Games.
Exodus, you serve as a great motivator
to so many kids who need it.
But you know what?
No matter the outcome tonight,
you're both pillars of inspiration.
Gentlemen, best of luck.
This is Over the Edge.
[intense music playing]
[Alex] Exodus in the blue,
Mitch in the red.
You gotta reel in 75 feet of chain
and then 75 feet of rope,
then the tug of war starts.
First to drag that concrete box
back to trip the Titan T, wins.
Let's go, boys! They're digging in.
Go, babe! You got this!
[dramatic music plays]
[Alex] Here we go! Exodus with a big pull,
moving that 160-pound box closer to him.
[grunts]
Let's go, X!
[grunting]
[Alex] Mitch trying to force a tiebreaker.
-Get up!
-[Dwayne] Come on, come on, come on!
Here we go! Dig down!
[Alex] Now it comes down
to who can overpower the other.
[Cari] Mitch is 6'2", 200 pounds,
one of the biggest competitors we have
in the Western Region,
and then there's Exodus,
5'10", 180 pounds.
Not necessarily the biggest,
but proving to be one of the strongest.
[Exodus grunts]
[Alex] How much do you wanna be a Titan?
That's what this boils down to.
[grunts]
Let's go, Mitch. Dig down!
-[Alex] Exodus with a big pull.
-[grunting]
Let's go, X!
[Cari] What a battle.
Pull, babe!
[Alex] Exodus pulling
with all of his might.
[grunts]
[grunts, screams]
-[Alex] Oh!
-[cheering, applause]
[Alex] And Exodus Rogers
is going to Mount Olympus!
[Dwayne] Wow.
[rock music playing]
[Alex] Now, he'll battle
Air Force captain Noah Palicia
for a chance to become a Titan.
[Noah] I competed against Victor Cruz,
a Super Bowl champion.
Let's see how Exodus compares.
Whoo!
[Cari] His wife has to be so happy.
Congratulations, baby. Oh, my God!
I'm ready to go up against the next Titan,
'cause that's the next big challenge,
and I'm all about big challenges.
[Cari] Exodus, a juvenile hall deputy,
giving all the kids
he mentors back in Sacramento
something to root for tonight.
-Come on, Mitch.
-[somber music playing]
Ah, I wanted to make you
more proud than that.
No, no, no. I'm proud.
I'm proud.
I'm proud.
[cheering, applause]
Chin up!
You're good.
Good job. Good job.
You're good.
-Good run, man.
-Good job, man.
You go win it all.
It's disappointing,
but at the end of the day,
and I got to actually be
on the big stage as the real me,
and that's you know, that's priceless.
Thank you all.
[cheering, applause]
Trans athletes are athletes.
We are We are just as competitive,
just as capable.
-I tried.
-It's okay.
[Mitch] You know,
just as motivated and inspired.
We just wanna succeed,
and this is just
an opportunity of a lifetime
to show that it can happen.
We belong. We belong.
DJ, how does it make you feel
when they say they wanted
to make you proud?
-Right, like
-Yeah.
Every one of these athletes
also wants to do it for themselves,
but there's something about your story
that makes them want to do it
-for you as well.
-Special.
Yeah.
It's quite emotional, too.
You know, 'cause you look deep
in their eyes,
and, you know, when they say
something like that
So, all I can say was the truth,
which is I'm proud.
I'm proud.
[man] Okay, stand by.
Get ready for Lunar Impact.
Lunar Impact,
one of the craziest competitions
that we have ever laid eyes on.
[Kelly] Stakes are high today.
If I lose one more, I'm out.
I gotta step up my game,
and I gotta make it one to one.
-Let's crush it.
-Good luck, girl.
You too.
[upbeat music playing]
How you doing? How you doing?
[Margaux] Winning this event
will allow me to propel
going to Mount Olympus.
For me, it would mean everything.
I'm here for my sister,
to represent her strength.
She can't be here in this present moment,
so I'm here for her to be able
to extend her life
in a different form and fashion.
This is my last chance,
this is my last shot,
and so I'm not going down without a fight.
[Dwayne] Margaux, Kelly,
you set a goal to live life
to the fullest.
Now you're about to go head-to-head,
high above the arena,
in front of millions
and millions of people,
and a chance to become a Titan.
Welcome to your new goal,
Conquer Lunar Impact.
[intense music playing]
[cheering]
[Alex] Kelly in the blue,
Margaux in the red,
and now it's about flying up those ladders
to get up to the top of that platform
and tip that wall in your favor.
And Kelly's up first
and coming around quick.
-Oh! Margaux takes a big hit
-[grunts]
[Alex] but somehow,
she's still on her feet.
Yes. Great job.
[Alex] Yeah, at this point in time,
it's really a battle about
who's gonna able to endure
-in this kind of position.
-[Margaux grunting]
[Alex] But as it stands right now,
Margaux's gonna be pushing
this one forward.
Go, Margaux! Go, Margaux!
Let's go, ladies.
[Alex] Kelly Stone fighting back here.
[Kelly screams]
[Cari] Kelly Stone,
she's not just a belly flop champ.
She's competed in just about everything.
She was a gymnast, a swimmer,
so I can't see her giving up that easily.
[Alex] Margaux's trying her best
to hold this one off
and stop the attack from Kelly Stone
but can't seem to find the right stance.
Now she has her back against the wall.
Oh, wait a minute!
Ms. Alvarez is pushing this one forward.
Yes! Yes!
Wow.
Kelly Stone doing her best
while maintaining a position,
and she has actually just
extended her arms completely.
She's giving it everything she has.
Margaux's had the momentum,
but now Kelly is moving her back
inch by inch.
[grunts]
Go, Kelly! Come on, Kel!
[Cari] DJ, take a look
at Kelly's technique.
-What do you think?
-I mean, Kelly's using everything.
She's got lower body power and strength,
so she's able to do that
while she's extending her arms
for leverage and hold off Margaux.
But again, as you guys know,
this is the point.
It's lactic acid, it's building up.
It's fatigue.
[dynamic music playing]
[Alex] Kelly Stone living up
to her last name.
She's planted like a stone.
She's not trying to let Margaux
-get any path to Mount Olympus.
-[grunts]
-Whoo!
-Go, Margaux!
[Cari] And Margaux's mom and sister
cheering for Margaux,
knowing that she's pushing through
for her sister Kerstin.
[Alex] There you go!
Oh! Oh! Kelly stood up,
and Margaux was able to get some leverage
and keep pushing.
Big opportunity here for the winemaker
as she continues to apply
the pressure to Kelly Stone.
-Kelly Stone.
-[Cari] She's moving her.
[Alex] She did everything she could
to try to bring this one back.
[Cari] She's moving her.
She's right there. Kelly's holding on.
But Margaux Alvarez is right there
right there to Mount Olympus!
[Cari] Does Kelly have
one more push in her?
-[Alex] Oh, she's doing it.
-[Cari] Does Kelly have it?
[Alex] She's trying.
She's trying to hold on.
[grunts]
But it's not enough!
[cheering, applause]
Whoo!
[Alex] Margaux Alvarez is your winner!
[upbeat music playing]
[Cari] Goldenboy, Margaux has one motto,
"Work hard, wind down."
[Alex] Well, you can rest easy
for at least the time being,
but next up is that beast of a mountain.
There you are.
Great job. Catch your breath.
-That was a good one.
-Great job.
-Thank you.
-Great job.
-Thank you.
-Great job.
You're going to Mount Olympus.
But she's gotta beat a Titan.
You may be strong, Margaux,
but you're going down.
Hold your head up. It was good.
I love you.
[Cari] You gotta love Kelly Stone's mom.
"Hold your head up."
Kelly definitely has nothing
to be ashamed of.
Margaux's mom greeting her,
letting her know that
they're so proud of her.
I love you!
[Margaux] I love you so much.
Kerstin was here with you, I saw her.
[sobbing]
I'm so proud of you.
[Margaux] Thank you for being so amazing.
Thinking about my sister.
Kers would be so proud.
I know she's not here physically,
but she's here with me in spirit,
and being able to channel her
to be able to do
what I need to do physically,
gives me the emotional
and mental strength.
Even though I'm crying, it's happy tears.
[Cari] What a special moment
for Margaux's mom right now.
She's celebrating victory
with one daughter
and honoring the memory of another.
[Alex] A lot to be proud of here
because she won 2-0.
-A clean sweep to Mount Olympus.
-[Dwayne] That was amazing.
Should we not give her a glass of wine?
I mean, did she earn it?
I mean, she Wine and tequila.
-It's wine and
-That's what it is.
-More importantly, it's tequila.
-Yes.
-[chuckles]
-That's a great combination.
-How would you know, Goldenboy?
-[laughs]
Many crazy nights in the video game world.
-Okay?
-[laughter]
[Exodus] I'm excited to be going up
against a Titan.
This is the challenge
I've been dying for all my life.
And I need it. I want it.
I'm 2-0, but it's like I'm 0-0.
I haven't conquered Mount Olympus yet.
I haven't conquered a Titan.
I'm still humble. I'm still hungry.
[dramatic musical sting]
[Exodus] My family,
my kids back in the facility,
I love you all.
Get familiar with the X.
It's not going nowhere.
So, Exodus Rogers won two matches
to get here tonight, Goldenboy.
[Alex] The juvenile hall deputy
is ready to lay down the law,
but he's facing a pilot who
took down a Super Bowl champ.
New Titan,
Noah Palicia!
Look where I am today.
I'm a freaking Titan.
Beating Victor Cruz, Super Bowl champion,
felt unreal.
Whoo! Yes!
I'm blessed to be here right now.
A little part of me represents
every single airman
that's out there across the world.
[dramatic music playing]
[Noah] In the Air Force,
I'm a C-130J instructor pilot,
currently in the 36th Airlift Squadron.
Pilot training
for the United States Air Force
tests everything,
both mental and physical,
and if you're not executing perfectly,
you're out.
-[Cari] Oh, my goodness.
-One more!
I firmly believe that
competing against my brother
in the first obstacles of The Titan Games
definitely prepared me
to compete against anybody.
I may not look like much,
but I've won six obstacle course races.
I can dead lift 420 pounds.
Exodus, I came in here as Captain Palicia.
Now, I'm Titan Palicia,
and I will defend Mount Olympus.
[dramatic music playing]
[cheering, applause]
[Alex] Here comes Noah Palicia!
This pilot's mission tonight,
-protect his Titan title.
-Let's go, bro.
[Alex] But that means another
strenuous side-by-side race
on Mount Olympus.
Noah survived this gauntlet last week,
pushing through all ten brutal obstacles
using his speed, strength, and stamina.
It's a challenge that will push
even the toughest athletes to their limit.
Exodus, you powered your way here
with consecutive wins,
and you're facing
our reigning Titan, Noah.
You're both riding a wave of momentum,
but that's about to change.
Exodus, Noah
this is Mount Olympus.
[intense music playing]
[Alex] Exodus Rogers in the blue.
He is your challenger.
Noah Palicia is your Titan in the black.
And look at these men go already, Cari,
just soaring through the starting gates
-onward to the Box Flip.
-[Cari] Yeah, neck and neck.
This is really something interesting.
Exodus actually injured his knee
a few years ago.
He said that he was determined
to get stronger
and started working out seven days a week,
and you can tell.
He looks so smooth right now.
Wow.
[grunting]
[Alex] Now at the Log Lift,
you need to march up that incline
and get your 200-pound log
all the way up to the top
before you can move on.
Look at these athletes!
[Alex] Both Noah and Exodus
at the Sky Bridge.
Those chains weigh 120 pounds each.
[Cari] Exodus has proven to be
a formidable competitor tonight,
winning two straight challenges
to get to Mount Olympus,
but the ultimate test, folks,
is if he can beat a Titan.
Noah proved that last week
when he knocked out
Super Bowl champion, Victor Cruz.
[Alex] That's right, Cari,
and that was after three grueling battles
with his brother, Eric.
Noah has managed
to bring down his bridge first,
but Exodus, not far behind.
It's close, it's close, it's close.
[Alex] Both men enter the Cage Crawl.
It's a tight squeeze,
and both athletes have to go
down, up, and back down again
before they can move on
and tackle the Drop Zone.
[screams]
[Alex] It is not easy, but you can see
just what Exodus is doing here.
He is just tearing through
this alongside Noah.
They both wanna be
the baddest men in the West.
[Alex] Noah is first out
of the Cage Crawl,
and now he'll work his way
down the Drop Zone
of our relentless mountain.
[cheering, applause]
[Alex] Exodus is looking a little shaky
coming down.
-[dramatic musical sting]
-[grunts]
-Oh, boy, he took a nasty spill.
-[audience gasp]
[Alex] What do these two have left
for this 300-pound Ball and Chain?
[Dwayne] This could be it.
Let's see what Exodus has.
[Alex] It is your last gasp.
Who is gonna be able
to just will it all
and take that Relic out of tomb?
There you go.
-[screaming]
-[Cari] Oh, my goodness!
Exodus letting out a big scream.
Perhaps that's his way
of pushing through the pain.
-[dramatic musical sting]
-[screaming]
-[grunts]
-Oh, no!
-[audience gasp]
-[Alex] Exodus hit the ground hard.
[dramatic music playing]
[Alex] But somehow he's back on his feet.
Does he have any fight left in him?
[dramatic musical sting]
[Alex] Noah hacking away at the tomb.
Let's go!
[thudding]
[Cari] Goldenboy, I cannot talk
about the sheer exhaustion
that they're feeling right now,
but still mustering up enough strength
to use that hammer.
[Alex] Noah Palicia
has the Relic in his hands
and for the second time
[lock clicks]
-Yeah!
-[cheering, applause]
-[Alex] Noah Palicia is your Titan!
-[upbeat music playing]
Yes!
Whoo!
[upbeat music playing]
Yes!
[Cari] The Titan Tomb,
the Relic, the Turn
Give it up for Noah Palicia,
Air Force Captain.
-Whoo!
-[Dwayne] Come on.
-What's up?
-Great job.
-Whoo!
-[Alex] Stationed far away in Japan
where he serves our country
as an Air Force pilot.
Able to come thousands of miles to compete
-in the Titan Arena and win.
-Whoo!
[Noah] Two-time Mount Olympus champion.
It feels incredible.
[cheering, applause]
[Cari] Noah going over to his wife.
I love you.
-[Cari] The entire Palicia family
-Yes!
Yes!
[Cari] his brother,
so excited to see him yet again
maintain that Titan crown.
Exodus, your wife is proud.
This arena is proud.
That is not the last that we have seen
-of one Exodus Rogers.
-[Alex] That's right, Cari.
He'll be back in two weeks
for the regional final
and a shot at redemption.
Something tells me
he won't go down easily a second time.
Noah, that was an amazing performance.
You represent our military.
You represent your family.
You represent your brother.
[cheering]
Titan Games,
Mount Olympus two-time champion.
Let's go. One more to go.
You got two wins in a row.
Let's see if you can make it three
next week. Great job.
[cheering]
[Margaux] I'm super excited.
All my hard work has led to this.
I came here to be a Titan,
to physically give everything I've got.
Kelly Valdez, she's a strong competitor,
but I'm just as strong,
so it's gonna be a battle
on Mount Olympus,
and I wanna get there
and stay on top of that mountain
till the end.
She charges into the middle
of a massive inferno,
and now she's back
to save her Titan crown.
It's firefighter Kelly Valdez!
[dramatic musical sting]
[Alex] Kelly Valdez is your new Titan!
It feels fantastic to be a Titan.
I didn't think I'd be able to stand up
against Jessie Graff.
[Alex] Jessie Graff
has just been unbelievable
on Ninja Warrior.
[Kelly Valdez] I was very nervous.
Jessie does this kind of stuff
basically all the time.
But luckily, everything
I've been through in life
has made me tough
and has made me be a Titan.
I was 22 years old
when I entered the Coast Guard.
They pushed me to do things
to the best of my ability.
When I got out of the Coast Guard,
I knew I wanted to be a firefighter
for the U.S. Forest Service.
Taking on Mount Olympus
was definitely similar
to the mountains that I take on
in my everyday life.
Being a wildland firefighter,
we definitely have to adapt on the fly
because everything's always changing.
We could be out
in the middle of the forest
with a mountain on fire
and the winds change,
so you're just always on your toes.
[cheering]
So, I've taken on Mount Olympus once
and came out on top, so let's do it again.
Margaux, to be a Titan,
you gotta come beat a Titan.
[dramatic musical sting]
[Alex] She walks through fire
and is back to defend her crown.
It's Kelly Valdez.
She and Margaux
are headed up the mountain,
but only one can walk away
as our Titan tonight.
Margaux, you dominated earlier tonight,
winning two straight competitions,
and that's a good thing,
because your opponent Kelly
dominated on Mount Olympus last week.
Two unstoppable freight trains
on a collision course
to Titan glory.
Exactly how I dreamt this whole thing up.
Margaux, Kelly
it's time for Mount Olympus.
[intense music playing]
[Alex] Here we go.
Margaux Alvarez in the red,
our Titan Kelly Valdez in the black.
We're starting with the Starting Gates,
and so far so good
for our two competitors.
[Dwayne] Come on, come on, come on,
here we go!
[Cari] When Kelly Valdez
was here last week,
she got off to a slow start
against Jessie Graff.
But not today. She's got her rhythm.
Margaux's staying with her side-by-side.
This is shaping up
to be a good one, folks.
These girls are close already.
It's close already.
[Alex] On to the Log Lift.
Both competitors have to carry
a hundred pounds
-up that steep incline.
-[audience] Oh!
[Alex] Looks like Kelly is struggling
to get a good grip on the log.
-Come on, Kel. Go, go, go.
-Come on, Kelly!
[cheering, applause]
[Alex] Margaux finishing up
on the Log Lift,
moving on to the Sky Bridge.
She'll have to remove 240 pounds of weight
to get that bridge to fall.
-Kelly got hung up.
-[Kelly Valdez grunts]
[Alex] Kelly Valdez
hung up on that Log Lift.
That's 100 pounds
that you have to bring up
the mountain there.
It's like helping your friend move.
Unfortunately, your friend
doesn't like you very much.
[Cari] Meanwhile,
Margaux is moving through this.
She told me earlier
that this was for her sister.
Her sister passed away,
but taught her before she passed away
to push for your dreams.
So, she's fighting for dreams right now.
Whoo!
Go, Margaux!
[Alex] Sometimes,
it is the intangibles in life
that push us the furthest,
and for Margaux Alvarez,
it seems as if so far
this been working out for her.
She has this lead.
Kelly Valdez right behind her.
Let's go, ladies. Let's go, ladies.
[Alex] Each turn lowers the pin
that will release the bridge.
And the bridge falls for Margaux.
The winemaker keeps her lead
heading into the Cage Crawl.
[Cari] While Kelly is one of only
two women in her fire department,
she has to prove herself
every day on the job,
and that's the determination
you're seeing right here.
Then you have Margaux
who continues to push herself.
She's powering through the Cage Crawl.
But now Kelly has her bridge down.
-Come on!
-[Alex] Kelly knows what to expect
from this Cage Crawl.
You have to be fast,
you have to fly through this.
Margaux though,
is doing a brilliant job here
keeping the pace up.
She makes her way down the Drop Zone,
and now Margaux Alvarez
is down the mountain
and about to embark on the Ball and Chain.
I told you, Châteaux Margaux,
she does a 40-mile outrigger
canoe race for fun.
-For fun, DJ!
-[Dwayne] Wow. 40 miles?
Look at her pulling the ball.
-Wow.
-[Alex] Oh, my word!
That is digging deep.
Margaux Alvarez makes it look easy.
We could be looking at a new Titan here!
200 pounds like it's nothing.
[Alex] She moved that
like it was a paperweight.
-Let's go, Margaux.
-[Alex] And now,
-there goes that power
-Boom!
-[Alex] That upper body strength.
-Come on.
[dramatic musical sting]
[hammer thuds]
There it is.
-You got it! Let's go!
-Go, go, go!
[Alex] On the mountain,
Kelly Valdez struggling to get down.
Go, go, go!
-[hammer thuds]
-There you go.
[Cari] But Margaux, she's letting
her body do the talking.
She's letting her body do the talking!
[Alex] You now need to sift through
all of that rubble
and take out the Relic.
Has the Relic in her hand.
And the winemaker is now a Titan!
-[upbeat music playing]
-[cheering, applause]
[Alex] Margaux Alvarez is your winner!
[cheering]
Congratulations, champ.
-Thank you. That was a
-Great job.
That was awesome.
Great job. Great job.
There we go.
-Thank you so much.
-You got it.
Get over there.
-Good job, girl.
-Nice job, dude.
You did completely awesome.
You're awesome.
I am now a Titan. Thank you!
Now, I'm gonna keep
on top of that mountain
as long as I can.
[Jane] You did it, baby!
You did it again and again.
-Thank you. I love you.
-I love you.
[Alex] So, Kelly Valdez
loses her Titan crown,
but she'll return in two weeks
as a competitor for the Western finals
and a chance to get it back.
Ladies and gentlemen,
new Titan, Margaux Alvarez.
[cheering, applause]
Absolutely dominating Mount Olympus.
We are proud. Everybody at home is proud.
Congratulations.
We will see you next week,
here on The Titan Games.
