[Batsheva] I like your outfit.
[Robert] Well, thank you.
It's very surface and basic of you.
You know.
[Robert] Should we fight?
-[Batsheva] No.
-No?
Sometimes I fight with Ra'ed for funsies.
That's so mean.
When I get into a phase where I'm fighting
for fun, he starts calling me petty fatty.
Petty fatty?
I'm a petty fatty. Even though I had most
of it sucked out, I'm a fatty at heart.
What makes you
It's a mindset. It's if you're not one,
you'll never know
because it's really an exclusive club.
-[chuckles]
-[Robert] People who love cheeses.
If you put me in front of a brie
-It's gone.

and be, like,
"Mm, that was nice. I'm moving on."

I'm gonna kill that brie, okay?

-[Julia] Hi!
[Jill] Surprise! [laughs]
Hi, gorgeous.
Jill is definitely the Jewish sister
I need right now.
The first time we met,
we're on the same plane flying to Miami.
And we spent four hours
talking to each other.
We walked off that plane, and we felt like
we'd known each other our entire lives.
And she's become a real close friend.
I fucking love her.
Unbelievable, the two-and-a-half years
you've been through.
It's a short period of time.
So imagine in the next 12 months,

-I hope so.
I gotta win this thing first.
Until I win this thing and clear my name,
-there's that lump in my chest.
-I know.
The last really traumatic thing
that happened to me is when I left,
and when I did that, I did it alone.
This time, I've got people.
People have stood by me, have defended me.
"Julia, we believe in you.
Julia, what can we do for you?"
Okay. Family, have you heard
from any of your family?
-No.
-Still nothing.
-Not even after all this trauma.
-Nothing.
-Nobody has reached out to you?
-Not one person has reached out to me.
-I'm sorry about that.
-It's okay.

she got so much grief.
But she told everybody, "Fuck you.
This is my family."

you're not my friend. Go away."

when she got attacked by the community.
Instead of defending me,
she was like, goodbye.
She just didn't have your strength.

-I know.
There's no hate.
She's my sister. I love her for life.

-It's gonna be hard.

My relationship with Aron
is really special

with him when he was growing up.
-You wanna come? We're making cookies.
-So much fun.
I was, like, a maternal figure to him,

I'm sorry, Aron. That's my bad.
-[Batsheva] Good?
-Mm-hmm.
-[Batsheva] How was your day at school?
-I'm good.
But, I mean,
I wanna go to yeshiva next year.
[Batsheva] You're gonna switch to yeshiva?
You wanna do that? You wanna leave
your school, incredible school now?
[Aron] My Judaism is what makes me happy.
Learning the Torah,
that's what I enjoy doing.
You're gonna go where it's super intense.
You're not gonna be able to be a child.
I mean, there's other children there
I know. And they have no life besides
sitting there and learning all day long.
[Miriam] Shlomo can tell you.
He would come home at 10:00 p.m. at night
and leave at 6:00 a.m. in the morning.
I just didn't see him those years.
I'm definitely concerned about Aron
wanting to attend yeshiva because,
although he's very religious and intense
now, he still goes to secular school.
He's still exposed to so many different
ideas whether he realizes it or not.
By him going to yeshiva, it completely
cuts him off from everything.
And so that scares me.
That just limits his mind,
and I don't want him to experience that.
I wanna become a rebbe, so I don't think
my chemistry is gonna be helping me.
-You wanna become a rebbe?
-Yeah, I wanna be an educator.
-Oh my Lord.
-I am.
But then you don't get an education.
I had a little bit. It wasn't good,
but I did have some secular studies.
I was in full yeshiva.
I know the messaging. I know the feeling.
I lived it. Aron's really young.
Even though he's now veering towards
the ideology of the yeshiva system,
once he's in it, maybe he won't like it.
The main focus of yeshiva
is to give you a religious education.
There is very little secular studies.
There's no clubs, no sports team.
There is no social life
outside of yeshiva.
There's no time for other things.
It's a very different life.
Completely different
than what he's experienced.
You know what you wanna do?
[Batsheva] No, he wanted to do
something else three months ago.
-[Miriam] He wanted to be a film director.
-Don't you wanna be a child?
-To get in
-I wanna enjoy my life. I wanna be happy.
I can tell you that the state
I'm in right now is solely
because it's what I wanna do.
It makes me happy.
-[Shlomo] He's got the hands even.
-[chuckles]
[all chuckling]
The only reason we're talking to you
is because we love and care about you.
It's not about asking you
or trying to influence you
to leave or to be anything less
but to just be
a little open-minded and not
I'm open-minded.
I'm hanging out with you guys.
[Batsheva] I'm definitely concerned
with how strong-minded he is
in this new stand on a religion.
I've never heard him
talk like this before,
and it makes me sad as his older sister
to see him closing himself off.
Actually, to jump
in a little bit for Aron's side,
he's not living his childhood
the way you think that childhood
should be, but if you're religious,
the main purpose in life is,
"Are you being good in the eyes of God?"
-You should do what you feel is right.
-Thank you, Shlomo.
[Shlomo] So.
I love you. I know for myself
if I ever wanted to change even slightly,
even when I was still living in Monsey,
it felt like you couldn't change
your mindset. If you at any point,
do differ your mind, then you shouldn't
feel the pressure because you felt like,
I told everyone I'm being like this,
so I can't do anything different.
It is your life to live.
-It is your future.
-[Aron] I agree.
-You should be able to be a little
-I agree 100%.
-100% agree.
-Yeah.
-Okay.
-No matter your choices we'll love you.
We always wanna have a relationship
with you, regardless of your
-Obviously.
-beliefs
Love you.

Group hug.
Group hug!
The longest arms are going last.

-[Miriam chuckles]

The penthouse.
I think this is a huge step
in our relationship. I mean, like,

just in case.
Not like that, but it's, like

-What do you think's gonna happen?
-I don't know.
But I feel like I always need
to have a backup
because I'm in a foreign country.
I don't have my friends.
I don't have a family here.
At this time,
when I'm coming close to graduating
and, like, this whole roller coaster
of trying to stay
in the country is beginning,
I'm just getting freaked out.
Like, every person that has had to leave
has told me
the best way is to get married.
So, I mean, it's becoming a little more
real to me that we might use plan G.
-How does that make you feel?
-Plan G in works.
For me to stay, we'd have to do it,
but I'm doing it because I love you.
-You know.
-Mm-hmm.
-I need to
-We're family!
I mean, I have a family but not, you know?
[Miriam and Ra'ed, whimpering]
We're family.
-[Miriam] I'm not wearing my platforms.
-Where are you, Miriam? Are you here?
I'm not wearing my platforms.
[pop music playing]
Look at you cutie in glasses.
-Blue ray. That's what you have too.
-I love, yeah.
-It makes my eyes feel good.
-You look so smart.
Thank you. It's the glasses.
Joy, come here.
-Such a cutie.
-What a coo-coo.
[Miriam] You're so cute!
[Robert] The cutest.
-Oh my gosh.
-Let's not have a dog on the table.
-Guys, let's not teach Joy
-She's a coo-coo.
[Julia] All right, Joy.
No bad habits
because you're such a good girl.
Any updates?
[sighs] So even though
Silvio signed the papers,
it was never filed in Delaware.
-What wasn't filed?
-The papers, the restructuring papers.
-That's what their argument is?
-Their whole argument is, "We signed it."
But it doesn't matter
because it was never filed in Delaware.
So, you know,
it's one thing to spread lies
in the court of public opinion.
That's easy.
In a court, it's contracts,
facts,
truth.
So I have confidence
that the truth will come out.
Justice may move slowly,
but I do believe in justice.
None of the contracts we signed are filed?
It doesn't make sense to me.
It's not every contract,
but when it has to do
with corporate governance
and, like, shares and ownership,
it's filed within the state
where the business is registered.
-It was never filed.
-If a business is registered in Delaware
We should have filed it
with the Department in Delaware.
Am I going to lose everything
because of a technicality?
I was like, what the fuck
is he trying to do?
How is he gonna pretend
that we're not co-owners?
There's legal documents
with his signature on it.
That's how he's trying to do it.
He's claiming he never filed
those papers properly,
so he's trying to destroy me
on a technicality.
-A contract is a contract.
-[Julia] I would think so.
[tense rock music playing]
-Gentlemen, are you ready for the food?
-Yes, please.
What would you like?
I'll just do the Greek salad.
I'm trying to keep it healthy today.
[Ra'ed] I got a job
as a tech company manager.
Of course, on the day that I get my, like,
thank-you-but-no-thank-you letter,
you get your
congratulations-you're-hired letter,
and obviously this has
been a freaking godsend.
If we were both unemployed
and had no income coming into the house,
I would be so much more worried.
I am so excited to finally buy new pants
and wear them in this relationship. Ooh!
Oh, girl.
-I'm gonna wear those pants.
-Are they gonna be tight?
And you need to start calling me
Zaddy from now on.
-Because I'm bringing in the money now.
-Yeah.
You've been supporting me
for a long time. It's my turn.
I can't wait. Every day
I'm gonna have a $40 lunch.
You don't understand.
Rules are coming into this house.
Bitch, please.
It feels so good to actually
show you
how much I love you.
How much I wanna care for you,
and take care of you.
-I'm gonna be a kept woman.
-I would love that.
I mean, it's very comforting
that, like, I can really take time
and make the best next step and not be
totally based on [inhales] money.
Yeah.
And I was thinking
is there any possible way
for me to parlay this stuff
into kind of a Broadway opportunity?
You've always wanted to sing.
You're an incredible singer.
It's, like, saying
I wanna climb Mount Everest.
We watch Broadway, you are better.
-Sorry. Maybe biased 'cause I love you.
-You're a little biased.
You're better than everyone
on that stage minus Patti LuPone.
Obviously minus Patti LuPone.
Like, shut your mouth.
When I left college,
I made the decision
that singing was not an option.
That was the path I chose.
Since then, it's been on the back burner.
But now I have this moment
where there's nothing ahead of me,
and all of a sudden, I'm feeling
this urge to explore my creativity.
I definitely feel
myself making progress
to being more confident in my body.
I can definitely see a world
where I start enjoying myself
to the degree that you enjoy yourself.
It has to be balanced.
Right now, it's not balanced at all.
You're totally out.
-Yeah.
-I'm not doing anything.
So I feel like
I need to go on a date or something.
-I need to
-Go on a date?
Yeah.
Going on a date is a little bit
weird for me, honestly.
Why is a date different than you
going over and having sex with someone?
Because for me, it's animalistic.
It's totally, like, a massage almost.
I think the way you're feeling
about what I said
is very similar to how
I feel about what you wanna do.
What you're doing.
I feel like
I'm making progress, but I don't feel like
you're making any progress.
-Excuse me?
-Sorry.
You're just, like, one note.
"I want this-this-this-this."
What are you doing to change?
I think I'm addicted to sex,
but not in the medical term.
I was addicted to sex.
I mean, I have to make up for lost time.
My childhood has been hiding
and acting straight and acting macho
and making sure nobody gets a hint.
And I feel like as an adult now,
I've exploded into this person
who's making up
for my childhood in the Middle East.
-I think, you understand that your libido
-I mean, I
-Yeah.
-and your sex drive is in the South Pole.
Mine is in the North Pole,
very North up North
-Jupiter, Mars, Pluto, Uranus.
-All the way to Uranus.
Miriam was saying maybe
we should go see a sex therapist.
What do you think?
Yeah.
That's a big step for a slut like me.
[pop music playing]
[line calling]
Hello.
-Hey babe, wanna hear the latest drama?
Yeah. Tell me what's going on.
So Silvio filed some emergency order
in divorce court
saying he wants to move back in
because PH2, our upstairs where we have
dinner every night and sit around talking,
is a business part of the house.
And he should be able
to come in and out as he pleases.
This is just him tormenting me.
Silvio files an injunction because
he needs to move back into this house
to use the upstairs for business meetings.
But it's so outrageous.
I haven't slept an iota.
That's really I am totally shocked
he wants to move back into the house.
He wants to use the house
whenever he wants.
Oh my gosh.
He's unhinged.
[upbeat music playing]
[sighs] I don't have that long
to get a job. I have, like, three months
to get something papered, almost.
It just is so much right now.
I have been applying for jobs.
They ask you in the application if you're
here on a student visa that's ending.
I mean, I'm not gonna lie,
so I'm checking that box,
then I get a rejection email, like
I mean, very short thereafter.
Don't worry, there's metaverse, baby.
Figure out what you can do
to help with the metaverse.
I would love to build something.
-Create something.
-We're about to create something.
[Miriam] Because I'm CTO at Haart Sphere,
Nathalie now has
an opportunity to get a job,
which would completely solve
her problem with visas.
But we both don't think
I should bring it up to my mom.
We think it'd be the best thing for her
to bring it up since it shows initiative.
-But obviously it is a little stressful.
-Yeah.
-I'm really gonna stress myself out.
-Don't stress yourself out.
-But it's your mom.
-I know.
I don't get nervous easily
but going to talk to Julia
I mean, I don't know
if it's because it's Miriam's mom,
or I'm asking for a job,
or because she's such a boss.
I don't know why, but I don't see
that I have any other choice.
-We still have plan G, and
-Yeah.
we won't tell my mom
until we freaking have to tell her.
Yeah.
[tense music playing]
-Hey.
-Hey.
How'd it go? You look smiley.
It's incredibly anti-climactic.
-It lasted around a minute and a half
-Whoa.
because apparently,
the judge and Silvio's lawyer
are best friends, and she's known
Silvio's lawyer for 20 years,
so she had to recuse herself.
Ooh.
Now we have to go
through this all over again.
-Was Silvio also present? How was that?
-I couldn't look at his face.
I just looked at the judge
and did not even look in his direction.
I can't stand the sight of him.
I'm already down to zero pounds.
If I had to look at his face,
I won't survive it.
[Julia] This man
has caused me real damage.
When I have a place of despair,
I can't eat.
I lost an inordinate amount of weight,
and it scared the shit out of me.
I went back to the weight
I had when I left the community.
I I couldn't eat.
And this is the most traumatic experience
that I've been through since back then.
My health is important to me,
and I know it worries my children.
I have to be careful
because I know my kids need me.
I need sleep desperately,
and I need to eat more food
because I'm not doing great.
[line calling]
Hello.
Hey there, quick question for you.
You think you can make hamburgers?
-Hamburgers?
-Can you make, like, super thin patties?
I mean, I love all the toppings. Cheese,
onion, lettuce, tomatoes, bacon for me.
-[Chris] All right.
-Thank you.
[upbeat music playing]
[Robert] Hey!
-[Zaffiris] Hey there!
-Robert!
-Long time, no see.
-Absolutely.
It's nice to see you.
-[Julia] I know.
-It's been hectic but good.
-It's been a ride.
-[Robert] Just chillin'.
It's been a ride, but here we are.
I'm excited, because now
we get to talk about the future.
Can't deal with the past.
Gotta talk about the future.
-[Zaffiris] Absolutely.
-Call us to order.
[chuckles]
-Order.
-Hear, hear.
You know, when I took over in EWG,
one of the first things that I did in 2019
was to get involved in the metaverse and
avatars because I saw that was the future.
Until Meta announced it was meta, everyone
thought I was doing something crazy
and stupid. "Don't mention it.
No one knows what you're talking about."
Of course, the minute Meta announced,
everyone's, like, "Julia's a genius."
One day, women will be taken as seriously
as men, but clearly still not yet.
Our metaverse, it's friendly to those
who don't understand blockchain,
Bitcoin, who you don't understand
how avatars are made.
It is the world's greatest democratization
of creativity, and it's really exciting.
The beauty of online shopping
is the expedience of it. It's very easy.
You can do it in your pajamas
in your bedroom, right?
But the problem with online shopping
is that it's not experiential.
It's not enjoyable.
You walk into a store,
someone offers you a drink,
they tell you you look beautiful,
they ooh and ah over what you try on.
-It's an experience.
-Not when I got to the store.
[all laughing]
So this is, like,
the hyper of experiential
because it makes shopping
playful and interesting.
So we're gonna build our own technology,
and the IP of it all we'll patent.
We have the concept very clear.
Now all we need to do
is build a business plan.
Figure out timing. Figure out next steps.

Until Meta announced it was meta, everyone
thought I was doing something crazy
and stupid. "Don't mention it.
No one knows what you're talking about."
Of course, the minute Meta announced,
everyone's, like, "Julia's a genius."
One day, women will be taken as seriously

Our metaverse, it's friendly to those
who don't understand blockchain,
Bitcoin, who you don't understand
how avatars are made.
It is the world's greatest democratization
of creativity, and it's really exciting.
The beauty of online shopping
is the expedience of it. It's very easy.
You can do it in your pajamas

But the problem with online shopping
is that it's not experiential.
It's not enjoyable.
You walk into a store,
someone offers you a drink,
they tell you you look beautiful,
they ooh and ah over what you try on.

So this is, like,
the hyper of experiential

So we're gonna build our own technology,
