Outlast (2023) s02e06 Episode Script
Season 2, Episode 6
1
Oh my God.
I'm terrified.
She's literally in the middle
of this lake.
She's so far out there.
I felt bad when she said
"I'm terrified" and started crying.
Yeah.
Emily fought against the bay's
strong cross-currents for over an hour.
I feel like I can't do anything.
Like I'm floating further away.
The temperature is dropping.
- And in 20 minutes, the sun will be gone.
- Come on, Emily, you got it!
I'm freaking out.
If Emily asks for rescue,
she is removed from the game board.
If Emily doesn't make it back,
we lose our raft,
our paddle, all the buoys,
all three of our bags.
I really don't want
to get in the water.
She's got to get here, dude.
And especially 'cause
she got us two shrimp pot kits.
Yeah.
I could get back to the island,
but I would be stranded there
without shelter overnight.
Go, Emily!
My legs are into the water,
freezing cold.
She has to have one
of those sleeping bags tonight.
She just needs
to get here and she's done.
- We'll do everything else.
- Yeah.
And I realize
that's a stupid decision.
I don't see her paddling.
The current has pushed Emily
900 meters east of her camp,
and the temperature of the water
is nearly freezing.
You got this!
Dude, I bet she is whupped.
I'm so scared. I'm so scared.
I'm done.
I'm going home.
Get me out of here, please.
I know how hypothermia works,
and I'm not going to put my life at risk.
It was a good run.
I mean, I'd rather her be safe.
-There you go.
-I have warmer clothes.
I've got a blanket for you.
Why don't we go idle over to shore?
It's so silly.
-My raft.
-Yeah.
Not looking good. They're bringing
her back, left the raft in the water.
Damn.
I really thought I was doing something
good, but it was getting dangerous.
Like, I
I am still shivering so hard.
I wonder if they let her take
my paddle that I made.
Man, she didn't have too far to go.
It's crazy.
Currents are real.
It just kept taking me
further and further away.
Aw, there's my team.
That's gonna be the hardest part.
That's the hardest part.
Do I at least get to give them
a hug goodbye?
Does that mean
she has to flare out?
Yeah.
Okay, I guess
we should start walking back.
While the remaining
team members hike to meet her boat,
Emily is checked by medical personnel.
- Can you feel your toes?
- No, they're numb.
It's a huge
disappointment for myself,
but I really feel disappointed for my team
because it wasn't just,
like, a selfish mission.
I wanted to give us an advantage.
But I underestimated the currents, and
it just felt like a huge moment of defeat.
Hi, guys.
Thanks.
You're so welcome.
I'm so sad for you.
I'm not even sad for me.
I'm sad for our team.
No, it's okay.
But I know
that you guys got it, and like
You were so bold, Emily.
This is such a sad moment,
for Emily to flare,
because I'd really bonded with her.
She is truly one of the most
intelligent women I've ever met,
and so it's a big loss.
And at the end of the day, the things
on that raft were not necessities.
They were niceties.
We'll try to find the raft in the morning.
It's all right.
It's not even about that.
- We love you.
- I love you guys too.
Bravo.
Yeah, it sucks to have to go home.
I went into it with best intentions.
And I made mistakes.
But that's life.
Okay.
I want warm clothes.
Having failed, you know,
you fail and learn.
But I know I have so much left to give.
I knew that was gonna
bite us in the ass.
Hopefully,
it's not the demise of Bravo.
We're still winning this,
no matter what.
We're down to two teams.
-This is mind-boggling.
-Alpha's dead.
Mother Nature will break you.
Bravo probably has already
scavenged everything from Alpha.
All's fair in love and war.
Yeah. So there's a lot of me
that just wants to go scout and recon
and see what condition they're in.
It's a long walk.
Well, I wouldn't waste that energy.
You're gonna be in bad condition yourself.
But how valuable would that be, right?
- I don't think it would.
- Would it give us any sort of advantage?
As a team, we kind of decided
we're just going to
- Mind our own.
- Mind the business that minds us.
That's been Team Delta's mentality
the whole time.
For sure.
I don't know how Bravo's doing.
I've always been curious about it.
I'd like to know
what their morale is, their strength.
Do they look like
they have a ton of energy?
Do they look like they're wearing thin?
You have to play the game.
And so I do think that
that information could prove valuable.
But the entire Delta squad
was against me, man.
And being the new guy,
I have entered into a team where
I'm a beggar, and I'm not a chooser.
I say you want to walk,
you ought to walk and get some water.
Yeah.
Well, Emily's gone.
She's sleeping in.
She's eating biscuits and gravy.
That's what she likes.
-Emily's so brilliant and so smart, but
-Yeah.
her over-analyzing of everything
burned a lot of time.
And because of that,
we lost a lot of stuff.
I think Emily's idea
to build the raft was great,
and I knew it was gonna be
extremely helpful out here
just to collect more resources and food.
So watching that slowly slip away,
I mean, it sucked.
But, you know, it is what it is.
- Call it a lost cause. Build a new raft.
- Make another.
So we're gonna head over to Alpha,
get the pallet and the buoys.
We go to Alpha, finish getting all
their resource from their resource drop,
get it back here
before the tide gets too high.
After Emily was rescued
from the raft,
she ended up telling us about
the resources that are on that island
in between Delta and us.
There's an apple tree growing
in the middle of that island,
and she said there's grouse there,
so we can have some good meat from a bird.
Let's get moving, so we can go to Alpha.
- I'll see you soon.
- Okay, bye.
- Bye.
- See you.
Let's do it.
Lead the way, Drake-ski.
As the Bravo team hikes south
to empty Alpha Camp,
the tide rises quickly.
They have just under one hour
to make the five-kilometer round trip
before the tide
completely submerges the shore
and floods their walking path.
I'm hungry, though.
I'm not hungry, I'm hungry.
I definitely started feeling
the hunger creep in more,
feeling more depleted.
I need some food.
Damn.
We're not getting any carbs or fats,
so it's weighing heavy on us,
especially when you have to do
more strenuous activities.
These trees right here
are going to be a bitch.
It's going to be slippery.
Go up by the trunk.
Dude, carrying that pallet back
is gonna suck.
- This will be crazy on the way back.
- Tide's coming up too.
The tide's not
in our favor today, fellas.
Whoa.
Damn, Sammy,
my legs are whipped, bro.
I know, man. Me too.
All right.
We don't need
the small box or this crate.
No.
All right.
One, two, three.
What if we spread this net out and
put it all in there and tie it together?
- Yeah.
- Put all this stuff in it.
Just like netting season.
I'll try to carry that pallet.
- Just do a nurse's knot.
- Yeah. Go ahead.
Pull.
That's tight.
Need more water.
- We haven't even done the hard part yet.
- Yeah. That was the easy part.
I know we feel rushed, but
Well, we kind of are.
Yeah. Or the tide's rushing us.
The tide's coming in really fast.
We got to really try to dig deep,
keep on going, don't give up,
so we can move as fast as we can
back to Bravo Camp.
It's going to be real shitty, guys!
Let's go.
We just got to get it back,
and we're good.
We winning this thing.
We came way too far.
We're doing way too good.
Way too good.
Found a scallop shell.
That's the first one I've found
since we've been here, and, uh,
it's going to be
an interesting little salt tray,
or bikini. I don't know.
Yeah, man.
Ooh.
Getting weird. Getting weird.
- I just need to sneak past you.
- Yup. There you go
Oh, yeah.
The strategy Delta has is to take
care of ourselves, take care of our own.
And so we're all conserving our calories
and just waiting for what's next.
I got to take my sleep hair off.
But, um, I don't know
if I necessarily agree with that.
And so I'm going to be proactive,
and I'm just going to see
what's on the game board
and see, you know,
what opportunities are ahead of me.
Okay.
It is way more exhausting
than I thought it would be.
- It's not light.
- No, it's not.
Damn.
Wow.
I see Bravo,
and I see them just kind of
right over the bay, walking around.
I can't tell you exactly what's going on.
But it looks like they're doing something.
Oh, snap.
That was a pain in the butt.
I knew that would be difficult.
I didn't think
it was gonna be that difficult.
Oh, that's nice.
So I was checking out Bravo's spot,
and I saw what it looked like,
buoys and all that stuff.
And it was just very faint, but I saw
literally, visibly, a pallet being
lifted up, like the whole face of it.
I'm like, "Okay, I recognize that."
Then I saw the color of the buoys.
- I'm not worried about Bravo.
- I'm not worried about them either.
I understand where
it's coming from, but at the same time,
we're doing good. We're dealing now.
I don't care about Bravo.
We want to just focus on what we're doing.
Keeping ourselves fed, warm,
and, uh, mind our own business.
I'm just so competitive,
and I need to know that I'm ahead.
And so I am concerned
that Bravo may be up to something.
So, I'm just trying to prepare us.
Like, for me, my intention has always been
to have the team prepared
for anything and everything.
Unfortunately, Delta has clearly shown
that they kind of don't care.
Bringing up the whole Bravo thing, I was
just, like, wanting us to be prepared.
So, Joey, we mind the business
that minds us.
That's how we gonna win this.
Damn.
It's too cold outside to hang out outside.
It's getting dark earlier and earlier.
It's only 7:00 and we're in bed already,
and I can't stand being in here.
American Drake.
We got a sick girl over there, Bri.
Oh my God.
I'm honestly just trying not to throw up.
We're going to keep doing our thing,
save up our calories, sleep, eat, repeat.
Oh my God.
I got sick last night.
In the middle of the night,
I got up and was like,
"I'm going to throw up," and stumbled out,
launched my body across the ground
and just started throwing up.
It was rough.
Being sick out here is probably
ten times worse than being sick at home.
Shall we get that raft
put together and, uh
- Let's do this.
- seize the day?
Yep. Let's do it.
I hate to have to be resting
while everyone else
is putting in all of the labor
that it takes to stay out here
and just exist and survive.
But I think my body needs rest
and calories to get better.
I say we build it
up here on the gravel.
How about
we build it on these rocks?
Yep.
All right.
Are we going to use some branches?
Just for the paddle.
I'll get you a good one.
I know my team doesn't want
to worry about the Bravo Team.
They want to just hunker down
and go in for the long haul.
I was like, "Well, I don't wanna
sit here for the long haul."
And I need to know that I'm ahead.
Or if I'm behind,
then I need to work harder.
And so, you know, we're going to start
comparing camps here soon enough.
I really think you can win this
just by having a good strategy,
by just having a good plan,
just having knowledge.
If you don't have
a strategy for everything,
you don't have a strategy for anything.
Hm.
Oh.
There they are.
Oh, no.
I see Bravo doing something.
They're getting ready to raft.
Okay.
Game on.
Looks like we got some building to do.
We're about ready to rock here.
We got to name our boat.
The DD, Dismantle Delta.
Well, fellas and lady.
Yeah?
So I was checking out Bravo's spot,
and I'm pretty sure that
they're building a raft today.
I feel confident.
Two pallets or one?
I saw one pallet just being lifted.
It looked like
there was three guys down there.
Joey has an obsession with Bravo.
He's always wondering,
like, what's going on over there.
Joey's not really focused on the goal.
We're surviving out here.
I'm really second-judging bringing him in.
Joey definitely has
a major obsession with Bravo,
but there's five of us over here thriving.
We eat every day.
I mean, we had a porcupine.
And we just want to stay on course
of minding our own.
We're building a raft today?
I'm taking it easy.
I'm not wasting no energy.
I'm really just chilling.
It's no rush. You can't rush the process.
You can't cheat the process.
You can't beat the process.
It just takes time.
I feel terrible.
I totally have a raging headache now.
Damn, she's not feeling good at all.
Really?
Oh God.
, I'm so sorry, Bri.
I wish I could help you.
It's okay.
Bri's been
a great addition to the team.
She's been helping us
find a bunch of clams to eat,
been digging, been working super hard.
But she just seems miserable,
and I really feel for her.
That sucks, bro.
Sucks so bad.
I'm a little worried about her
having to go home.
I'm not saying it would be detrimental
to us winning, but it would hurt.
Oh my God.
Oh, shit. What's going on?
Bri's sick as a dog, man.
-That sucks, Bri.
-I know.
- Did you yak, Bri?
- A little bit, yeah.
So you felt nauseous first, but then now
you have a headache from throwing up?
Yeah.
-I think the headache is from dry-heaving.
-Yeah.
Damn.
Dang.
I hope it goes away.
Bri's not looking good.
We need her to help us get stuff done.
Oh my God.
But if this keeps going on,
I'm not sure she has the fortitude
to push through and get through
these survival situations,
especially out here in this cold climate.
Your face is super red.
Bri, on the walk over here, had to drink
water out of several different streams.
Maybe she's got some kind of poisoning
from drinking that water.
It's concerning.
You know, if it came down to
a physical game, Bri can't move forward.
I mean, that's it.
Bri has chosen
to seek a medical evaluation.
If it is determined that
a medical treatment is required,
she will be removed from the game.
- Miss Bri, good morning.
- Hi, how are you doing?
- How are you doing?
- I had just consistent nausea.
I'm getting, like, full-body hot flashes,
and I woke up, like,
just feeling super dizzy.
Tell me about what you've been drinking.
Water.
Water. Have you been boiling the water?
Some of it, yeah.
Drinking contaminated water
increases the risk of giardia
This might be bad for me.
I could get sick from this.
an intestinal parasite
infection that may cause symptoms
such as severe nausea, stomach pain
and fatigue
to several weeks after exposure.
Okay, so that is
a little bit of a concern.
Definitely a little bit of a red flag.
We're down to two final teams,
and I believe that I am on track
to win with Bravo Team.
And so this is scary.
I haven't been sick like this before.
Not having anything
to, like, really mend yourself
or knowing when you could get better
when you're in an environment like this
just makes it ten times harder.
After evaluating Bri
to establish her baseline condition,
the medical team has determined
that Bri's vitals are within normal range,
and she's considered stable.
People came here to compete
and win a portion of a million dollars.
For me, it would give me
a lot more security,
but I am feeling worse and worse.
This just sucks.
Well, obviously you guys know
I've been sick.
I'm not going to contribute
the way that I want to
- Yeah.
- to everything that goes into
surviving out here.
But I just don't feel like
I could fully perform.
- Yeah.
- So
- Yeah.
- Honestly, I just feel miserable.
Yeah, you look miserable.
Like, the look on your face from today,
from the first day that I saw you
Yeah. Yeah.
I know you're a happy-go-lucky person,
and you don't look very happy right now.
Thanks.
Yeah, I just want to feel better.
Yeah.
And I just think that
it is best to leave right now,
because I just don't know
when I'll feel better.
All right.
My stomach is just in absolute knots.
Like, I'm just ready.
Yeah, you need to actually go.
- I feel, like, so sad to leave you guys.
- I know.
- All right, let's do it.
- Okay.
To be in a position where I have
to make a decision to flare for my health
just sucks.
A big highlight in this competition
was leaving Charlie
and making that trek over to Bravo,
and them deciding
to have me on their team.
My teammates have been really supportive,
and they just want me
to be healthy and okay.
And they don't want to see me out here
getting more and more sick.
It is time to go.
Whoa, I heard something.
- What?
- I heard a pop.
- You didn't hear a pop.
- I didn't hear anything.
- I heard something come from that way.
- Not me.
- You hear a pop?
- I didn't hear shit.
I didn't either.
You know, we've lost two players,
and it's just the three of us now.
That's the game. The more people
flare out, the more money on the table.
But you also have one more person's
worth of work to do.
You know, we're tired.
It's just another layer of suck.
But Bri has serious issues going on, and
we don't want to have that on our team.
We want to be the strongest team out here.
So hop on the boat and drive off,
plain and simple.
- Later, Bri.
- See you, Bri.
Then there were three.
The three amigos.
So we're building a raft today?
We can just get the raft going.
What's the purpose? We can get
out in the water and do a little fishing?
That what we're thinking,
why we're doing this?
Just, like, wanting us
to be prepared for Bravo.
I realize that my team's kind of
fed up with me talking about Bravo.
But I'm thinking we're gonna move into
something that might require action,
movement on a raft or something like that.
It could be anything,
and so we should consider that
as we move through this game.
I just care about the team,
and I just want us to do our best.
And so I'm not going to drop it.
Something to consider.
You'd rather have it and not need it
rather than need it and not have it.
Exactly.
You guys got that under control.
I can go on a hunt, can't I?
Go ahead.
I've built pallet rafts with my friends
in the neighborhood, floating the canal.
We made pallet rafts with dumb stuff.
Anything that would float.
- It's not complicated.
- Yeah.
So yeah, raft today?
- Yeah.
- Yeah.
Okay, let's go. Let's do this.
You want the bottom
to be as buoyant as possible.
The sides, you can just
build it up and stabilize.
We'll come up with three longer poles.
Growing up in Louisiana,
I done been in the swamps,
navigating the bayous
and the lakes my entire life.
I want to put that knowledge to the test
and help build the raft.
The pole's going to stick out
about two foot.
Two foot on that side, two foot
on that side, two foot on this side.
So you got the buoyant.
Only thing I'm worried about
is the bending of those poles.
Those poles aren't too thick
when using thin wood.
What kind of poles you talking?
-What were you talking? That's your
-Any type. Pretty much any sturdy pole.
- Yeah.
- We wrap buoys up inside the net.
I'm worried about the net going
-It's the way you tie it.
-Tie it, yeah.
Joseph is very focused,
but Eric can easily make things
more complicated than they are.
The poles literally just gonna sit
on top of the pontoons.
- Thickness?
- About like that. That's perfect.
- You want to get on poles?
- I can do that.
Then we're almost there.
- Then we got to think about a paddle.
- We need this to float first.
Dude, that's my least worries.
I want to float and be safe.
I'm trying to make this thing stable
so it doesn't flip over,
being that I was most likely
going to be floating on it.
I want this thing safe.
-Joe, think that notch is gonna be good?
-Yeah, a notch for the rope to sit in.
We'll notch all of them across
so the rope has a place?
Yeah. And we're gonna
tie them really tight.
Came up with some sticks.
What do we think?
Nope.
They might be good.
They look weak.
-Yeah, they look dry-rotted.
-These were standing.
Standing dead wood.
When we're all trying to work on a team,
these little pushes,
these little shoves seem unwarranted.
I just cut them down.
Bring a couple more down,
if you don't mind.
It just catches me off guard.
Joey!
Shit happens, bro.
They're all pretty sensitive.
I'm not here to just sit back.
I'm here to win this frickin' game.
I was gonna start taking this box apart
so I can make a paddle.
There's ways to do this,
and there's ways to do this.
And my way might differ
from my team members right now.
That's one of the worries I have because
You got too many worries and
we're not even close to needing a paddle.
My thing is, I'd like to make a paddle.
- Okay.
- I'm gonna use the box to make the paddle.
If you want to do that, but we
need to focus on stabilizing this thing.
That's what you were doing.
I'll do something else.
So we can get two things done at once
instead of standing around.
How important is a paddle right now?
Um It's gonna be important.
Gonna be important,
but it's not important.
-We not finished
-I'll let you do that.
-I'm gonna walk away. You guys finish it.
-Good deal. Thank you.
off.
Yeah, go throw your little tantrum.
- What's that?
- Go throw your tantrum.
- I'm not having a tantrum.
- I'm telling you to off.
You said off.
That's not very leader-like.
I've been leading from the back,
but it's time to speak up.
Not doing it no more.
I'm talking out loud so you can hear.
- Enjoy making the raft.
- Thank you. Stop talking.
I think because Eric has been
that kind of guy to try and take over,
Eric wanted his signature on the raft.
But either way,
it doesn't take a lot to set Eric off.
He just wanted to be bossy
and take over the situation.
Doesn't care that I wanted
to help him build a paddle, any of that.
So let it be his project.
When he gets stuck out on the water
I'll just say, "I told you so."
- That good enough for you?
- That's gonna be way good enough.
Lay it flat for you,
just like that.
I think we can fold it over,
just like this.
Poke holes in it.
-If I do a few right here
-Yep.
Mm-hm.
Then do the same thing to that flap.
Yep, right there.
So that way, we pull them
and they tighten up.
Good thing it's kind of
a short paddle across.
So we decided that
I'm gonna get on the raft,
and there's a good chance
that I might end up like Emily
and not be able to steer
or play the tide right.
Um, it would it would suck.
Where do you want
to launch from, Drew?
Probably right over here somewhere.
- Those rocks?
- Yeah.
- There you go.
- Cool.
One Alaskan paddle.
Done-ski. That's what
I'm talking about, boys. Teamwork.
You ready?
Let's roll them up a little
so they don't get water in them.
What the hell?
See those helicopters?
You hear something?
Helicopter?
-Yep. Let's get this off of there.
-It's game time, boys.
Bird's up. Bird's up.
-They're long-lining something.
-Yeah, something's hanging from it.
- What the hell?
- Let's go. Let's go. Let's go.
Come on, boys, let's go.
I can't tell exactly what it is, but it's
definitely a package way out there.
Hopefully it's some food.
-Look how far out they just dropped that.
-Oh.
What are you seeing, Drew?
Holy shit. It's a boat.
Hell, yeah.
I made a decision, built the raft.
Turns out that decision
was just, like, brilliant.
A survival opportunity
has been offered to the players.
No way!
-Let's go. New objective, dude.
-Let's launch our raft and go get a boat.
Two rowboats,
each with paddles and prawn traps,
have been dropped in the bay,
equal distance to the teams' shorelines.
- What do you see?
- A package way out there.
We got a package
waiting for us in the bay.
It looks like a boat of some sort.
You need to get that thing quick.
We gotta get moving, man.
- We going?
- Rolling.
I mean, I hate to say it,
but I told you so.
Oh, man.
Guys, we got to build.
This resource drop
will not only give them tools
to acquire some much-needed protein,
but access to other areas
of the game board they've yet to explore.
Dude, this means that we can fish.
We can actually go and investigate Bravo.
Let's get moving.
Let's go
before it gets further away.
We need to get to that boat.
It's a means of transportation.
It's a means of being able
to go get more food.
If they have utilized the
materials from the first drop properly,
they will have a distinct
advantage in this race.
- Watch your step.
- Awesome.
If we get to our boat and their boat's
still floating in the water,
we're gonna take it.
- Let's put it in here.
- Right here.
I'll hand you the paddle.
All right.
Y'all will have to push me out
once I get on here.
- Go.
- Feet forward.
I'm stabilizing the raft.
- We got eyes on Bravo yet?
- No.
We just need
to get the stabilizers on,
and we need to hurry
and get to that drop-off before Bravo.
Yeah. We don't know
how far ahead they are.
We got to get moving, man. Go, go, go.
Push me off, boys. Push me good.
All right, boys.
- All right. Good luck, Drew.
- Whoo!
Dude, Bravo's moving.
- Oh, I see the raft. Look.
- Bravo's got the raft out.
- You got it.
- Get to that boat.
This paddle's
will work great, I think.
When we saw Bravo,
we were like, "Crap."
We need to get our raft out there,
because it's clear
that Bravo is ahead of us.
Got that second knife
- so we can speed the process up?
- Yeah.
And I am concerned
that they're going to steal our boat.
-Yeah, dude. He's cruising right now.
-He's cruising that current.
I'm going to use this current
and just chill.
We got to move, man.
This is perfect.
I'm moving just like I need to.
I think we're good. Ready, partner?
Yeah. Let's go.
Let's go, go, go.
As we're preparing
to launch the raft, man,
I'm a bit nervous,
but I got my game face on.
- This could be a game changer.
- I hope.
Dude, he's moving.
Get out to that little current section
in the center there.
It'll take you right to it.
Once I get in our boat,
I'm going to take Delta's boat,
because it would hurt Delta real bad.
This is the perfect opportunity
to do that.
Ready, partner?
You're in the bayou right now, man.
You're just in the bayou.
- Yeah!
- It's all you, buddy.
You hear Delta hollering?
Yeah!
They're on the water.
Slow and steady.
- It's moving.
- It's moving.
Get it, baby.
- That current will do the rest.
- Yep.
All right, man.
You got it, Drew-ski!
Yeah, you're going
you're going straight to it.
Bring it to the house, baby!
Drew is pretty far ahead of Delta.
Dude, we gotta get our boat
and then make our way over to Delta.
If they got a boat,
we need to take that boat.
Uh-huh.
If we have both the boats,
we're golden.
It's game over.
While one boat per team
will keep the playing field even,
there are no rules that state
a team cannot take both,
thereby doubling their resources
and leaving the other team with severely
limited food sources as winter sets in.
I was panicking in my head, man.
That's some deep water,
and it's a long way to go.
My biggest fear was making a mistake
and dropping my paddle,
or misjudging the tide
and angle, passing it up
and having to go against the current.
When I felt myself get nervous,
I closed my eyes
said a prayer
and then I started rowing on that paddle.
Look at him.
Look at that thing paddle away.
Push. Push.
Heave!
Heave!
I really focused
on the current and my angle.
'Cause the current was like
It didn't look strong from shore, but it
was very strong, like, out in the middle.
Give me the strength.
Trying to get to the current.
I've navigated the swamps
and bayous of Louisiana.
If you can do that,
you can pretty much survive anything.
We gotta get moving, man.
Yeah, he's going to hit
that current right here. Watch.
-He's about to hit it and start cruising.
-No, Bravo's barely moving.
Looks sketchy.
Oh, our knots are coming undone.
That paddle's falling apart.
Oh God. I knew it would, man.
It's such a janky set up.
Oh my God, look at that thing.
That paddle is roasted.
Thank you, God.
Grateful.
I'm drifting a little further
than I want to right now.
Drew, you need to move to your right
or you're gonna miss it!
Working on it.
He's starting
to drift away a little bit.
Hurry up
or you're gonna get pushed away!
The tide is rising quickly,
creating a very strong current that is
increasingly difficult to navigate.
Dig deep! Come on!
The boat's going away.
I look at the bubbles in front of me,
trying to see
how far I'm moving each paddle,
and I'm moving maybe you know,
8-12 inches every time I paddle.
And it's just getting worse and worse,
and that current just kept pushing me.
And then it seemed like
I was so close to the boat,
and then all of a sudden,
here I am floating past it.
There you are, baby.
- Almost there, man.
- He's strong. He'll get it done.
Bird dog.
He's just bird-dogging
that thing and going.
Yeah, he is.
I just can't.
Go, Drew!
It's right there!
I look over,
and the other team was splashing like
I hate to say it,
but I'm like, thank God it wasn't me.
I just put my head down
to take a breather,
and every time I looked up,
that boat got closer and closer.
Joseph's at the boat.
Yeah, baby!
Yeah!
Yeah!
Whoo!
Ah! Thank you, God.
When I flopped in that boat, bro,
like, my soul went back in my body.
Like
I was like, "Man, like, I really made it."
Come on, get it!
It's too far.
Push it!
Push it!
At this point,
I'm not worried about taking Delta's boat.
We need to worry about our own boat
floating out in the middle of the bay.
This is his last chance right here.
He's about to start kicking.
Oh, they went swimming.
-They're in the water?
-Are they in the drink? No way.
- In the water.
- They're done.
- Can I see?
- He's in the water kicking.
- Let me get a look.
- Oh, no. That ain't good.
That's not good at all.
He only has so much time in there.
Oh my goodness.
Kick!
Oh God, this is absolutely brutal.
It's killing me. I'm here to win.
I just don't have any gas
to put on the fire.
He's tired.
His hands and feet got to be cold and wet.
Get out of that water, fool.
He's floating further. He ain't
getting to that boat. Look at him.
He's getting further away. It's over.
He ain't that tough now.
-You got this, Drew!
-I'm just gonna go to the shoreline here!
-Gotta come get me.
-He's bailing.
I'm going to the shoreline,
bring him dry clothes.
Oh, man.
Holy shit.
Look at how far away he is now.
He's done.
What is that?
Guess we're about ready to make
our first contact with Team Bravo.
We're young, we're athletic,
we've been getting after it, dude.
We're here to win at whatever cost.
That'd get barrels pointed at your face,
in a lot of situations.
- Easy, Mountain Man.
- Man up!
Hold on!
I'm sinking!
Come on, let's go!
What you got for us?
- They dropped something.
- Yeah.
"Is this your final team?"
"That's for you to decide."
We're a bit worried about you,
Sammy, about your health.
I feel like I can keep pushing,
you know? Keep going.
- Pick it up, come on!
- I'm getting pretty tired.
I can't feel my legs.
I ain't carrying you across two
rivers for you to slow down.
-We got a million dollars to win!
-Joey, you made that decision.
I'm so close to my breaking point.
It's kind of like a ticking time bomb.
What if Pony Boy today moved to Bravo?
Need an extra pair of hands?
-How naive would they have to be
-To not notice that?
At this point, I'm ready to see him
off the team. I'm done.
I'll get the flare and fire it,
if this is what it's gonna come down to.
Whoo!
I'll be damned.
Oh my God.
I'm terrified.
She's literally in the middle
of this lake.
She's so far out there.
I felt bad when she said
"I'm terrified" and started crying.
Yeah.
Emily fought against the bay's
strong cross-currents for over an hour.
I feel like I can't do anything.
Like I'm floating further away.
The temperature is dropping.
- And in 20 minutes, the sun will be gone.
- Come on, Emily, you got it!
I'm freaking out.
If Emily asks for rescue,
she is removed from the game board.
If Emily doesn't make it back,
we lose our raft,
our paddle, all the buoys,
all three of our bags.
I really don't want
to get in the water.
She's got to get here, dude.
And especially 'cause
she got us two shrimp pot kits.
Yeah.
I could get back to the island,
but I would be stranded there
without shelter overnight.
Go, Emily!
My legs are into the water,
freezing cold.
She has to have one
of those sleeping bags tonight.
She just needs
to get here and she's done.
- We'll do everything else.
- Yeah.
And I realize
that's a stupid decision.
I don't see her paddling.
The current has pushed Emily
900 meters east of her camp,
and the temperature of the water
is nearly freezing.
You got this!
Dude, I bet she is whupped.
I'm so scared. I'm so scared.
I'm done.
I'm going home.
Get me out of here, please.
I know how hypothermia works,
and I'm not going to put my life at risk.
It was a good run.
I mean, I'd rather her be safe.
-There you go.
-I have warmer clothes.
I've got a blanket for you.
Why don't we go idle over to shore?
It's so silly.
-My raft.
-Yeah.
Not looking good. They're bringing
her back, left the raft in the water.
Damn.
I really thought I was doing something
good, but it was getting dangerous.
Like, I
I am still shivering so hard.
I wonder if they let her take
my paddle that I made.
Man, she didn't have too far to go.
It's crazy.
Currents are real.
It just kept taking me
further and further away.
Aw, there's my team.
That's gonna be the hardest part.
That's the hardest part.
Do I at least get to give them
a hug goodbye?
Does that mean
she has to flare out?
Yeah.
Okay, I guess
we should start walking back.
While the remaining
team members hike to meet her boat,
Emily is checked by medical personnel.
- Can you feel your toes?
- No, they're numb.
It's a huge
disappointment for myself,
but I really feel disappointed for my team
because it wasn't just,
like, a selfish mission.
I wanted to give us an advantage.
But I underestimated the currents, and
it just felt like a huge moment of defeat.
Hi, guys.
Thanks.
You're so welcome.
I'm so sad for you.
I'm not even sad for me.
I'm sad for our team.
No, it's okay.
But I know
that you guys got it, and like
You were so bold, Emily.
This is such a sad moment,
for Emily to flare,
because I'd really bonded with her.
She is truly one of the most
intelligent women I've ever met,
and so it's a big loss.
And at the end of the day, the things
on that raft were not necessities.
They were niceties.
We'll try to find the raft in the morning.
It's all right.
It's not even about that.
- We love you.
- I love you guys too.
Bravo.
Yeah, it sucks to have to go home.
I went into it with best intentions.
And I made mistakes.
But that's life.
Okay.
I want warm clothes.
Having failed, you know,
you fail and learn.
But I know I have so much left to give.
I knew that was gonna
bite us in the ass.
Hopefully,
it's not the demise of Bravo.
We're still winning this,
no matter what.
We're down to two teams.
-This is mind-boggling.
-Alpha's dead.
Mother Nature will break you.
Bravo probably has already
scavenged everything from Alpha.
All's fair in love and war.
Yeah. So there's a lot of me
that just wants to go scout and recon
and see what condition they're in.
It's a long walk.
Well, I wouldn't waste that energy.
You're gonna be in bad condition yourself.
But how valuable would that be, right?
- I don't think it would.
- Would it give us any sort of advantage?
As a team, we kind of decided
we're just going to
- Mind our own.
- Mind the business that minds us.
That's been Team Delta's mentality
the whole time.
For sure.
I don't know how Bravo's doing.
I've always been curious about it.
I'd like to know
what their morale is, their strength.
Do they look like
they have a ton of energy?
Do they look like they're wearing thin?
You have to play the game.
And so I do think that
that information could prove valuable.
But the entire Delta squad
was against me, man.
And being the new guy,
I have entered into a team where
I'm a beggar, and I'm not a chooser.
I say you want to walk,
you ought to walk and get some water.
Yeah.
Well, Emily's gone.
She's sleeping in.
She's eating biscuits and gravy.
That's what she likes.
-Emily's so brilliant and so smart, but
-Yeah.
her over-analyzing of everything
burned a lot of time.
And because of that,
we lost a lot of stuff.
I think Emily's idea
to build the raft was great,
and I knew it was gonna be
extremely helpful out here
just to collect more resources and food.
So watching that slowly slip away,
I mean, it sucked.
But, you know, it is what it is.
- Call it a lost cause. Build a new raft.
- Make another.
So we're gonna head over to Alpha,
get the pallet and the buoys.
We go to Alpha, finish getting all
their resource from their resource drop,
get it back here
before the tide gets too high.
After Emily was rescued
from the raft,
she ended up telling us about
the resources that are on that island
in between Delta and us.
There's an apple tree growing
in the middle of that island,
and she said there's grouse there,
so we can have some good meat from a bird.
Let's get moving, so we can go to Alpha.
- I'll see you soon.
- Okay, bye.
- Bye.
- See you.
Let's do it.
Lead the way, Drake-ski.
As the Bravo team hikes south
to empty Alpha Camp,
the tide rises quickly.
They have just under one hour
to make the five-kilometer round trip
before the tide
completely submerges the shore
and floods their walking path.
I'm hungry, though.
I'm not hungry, I'm hungry.
I definitely started feeling
the hunger creep in more,
feeling more depleted.
I need some food.
Damn.
We're not getting any carbs or fats,
so it's weighing heavy on us,
especially when you have to do
more strenuous activities.
These trees right here
are going to be a bitch.
It's going to be slippery.
Go up by the trunk.
Dude, carrying that pallet back
is gonna suck.
- This will be crazy on the way back.
- Tide's coming up too.
The tide's not
in our favor today, fellas.
Whoa.
Damn, Sammy,
my legs are whipped, bro.
I know, man. Me too.
All right.
We don't need
the small box or this crate.
No.
All right.
One, two, three.
What if we spread this net out and
put it all in there and tie it together?
- Yeah.
- Put all this stuff in it.
Just like netting season.
I'll try to carry that pallet.
- Just do a nurse's knot.
- Yeah. Go ahead.
Pull.
That's tight.
Need more water.
- We haven't even done the hard part yet.
- Yeah. That was the easy part.
I know we feel rushed, but
Well, we kind of are.
Yeah. Or the tide's rushing us.
The tide's coming in really fast.
We got to really try to dig deep,
keep on going, don't give up,
so we can move as fast as we can
back to Bravo Camp.
It's going to be real shitty, guys!
Let's go.
We just got to get it back,
and we're good.
We winning this thing.
We came way too far.
We're doing way too good.
Way too good.
Found a scallop shell.
That's the first one I've found
since we've been here, and, uh,
it's going to be
an interesting little salt tray,
or bikini. I don't know.
Yeah, man.
Ooh.
Getting weird. Getting weird.
- I just need to sneak past you.
- Yup. There you go
Oh, yeah.
The strategy Delta has is to take
care of ourselves, take care of our own.
And so we're all conserving our calories
and just waiting for what's next.
I got to take my sleep hair off.
But, um, I don't know
if I necessarily agree with that.
And so I'm going to be proactive,
and I'm just going to see
what's on the game board
and see, you know,
what opportunities are ahead of me.
Okay.
It is way more exhausting
than I thought it would be.
- It's not light.
- No, it's not.
Damn.
Wow.
I see Bravo,
and I see them just kind of
right over the bay, walking around.
I can't tell you exactly what's going on.
But it looks like they're doing something.
Oh, snap.
That was a pain in the butt.
I knew that would be difficult.
I didn't think
it was gonna be that difficult.
Oh, that's nice.
So I was checking out Bravo's spot,
and I saw what it looked like,
buoys and all that stuff.
And it was just very faint, but I saw
literally, visibly, a pallet being
lifted up, like the whole face of it.
I'm like, "Okay, I recognize that."
Then I saw the color of the buoys.
- I'm not worried about Bravo.
- I'm not worried about them either.
I understand where
it's coming from, but at the same time,
we're doing good. We're dealing now.
I don't care about Bravo.
We want to just focus on what we're doing.
Keeping ourselves fed, warm,
and, uh, mind our own business.
I'm just so competitive,
and I need to know that I'm ahead.
And so I am concerned
that Bravo may be up to something.
So, I'm just trying to prepare us.
Like, for me, my intention has always been
to have the team prepared
for anything and everything.
Unfortunately, Delta has clearly shown
that they kind of don't care.
Bringing up the whole Bravo thing, I was
just, like, wanting us to be prepared.
So, Joey, we mind the business
that minds us.
That's how we gonna win this.
Damn.
It's too cold outside to hang out outside.
It's getting dark earlier and earlier.
It's only 7:00 and we're in bed already,
and I can't stand being in here.
American Drake.
We got a sick girl over there, Bri.
Oh my God.
I'm honestly just trying not to throw up.
We're going to keep doing our thing,
save up our calories, sleep, eat, repeat.
Oh my God.
I got sick last night.
In the middle of the night,
I got up and was like,
"I'm going to throw up," and stumbled out,
launched my body across the ground
and just started throwing up.
It was rough.
Being sick out here is probably
ten times worse than being sick at home.
Shall we get that raft
put together and, uh
- Let's do this.
- seize the day?
Yep. Let's do it.
I hate to have to be resting
while everyone else
is putting in all of the labor
that it takes to stay out here
and just exist and survive.
But I think my body needs rest
and calories to get better.
I say we build it
up here on the gravel.
How about
we build it on these rocks?
Yep.
All right.
Are we going to use some branches?
Just for the paddle.
I'll get you a good one.
I know my team doesn't want
to worry about the Bravo Team.
They want to just hunker down
and go in for the long haul.
I was like, "Well, I don't wanna
sit here for the long haul."
And I need to know that I'm ahead.
Or if I'm behind,
then I need to work harder.
And so, you know, we're going to start
comparing camps here soon enough.
I really think you can win this
just by having a good strategy,
by just having a good plan,
just having knowledge.
If you don't have
a strategy for everything,
you don't have a strategy for anything.
Hm.
Oh.
There they are.
Oh, no.
I see Bravo doing something.
They're getting ready to raft.
Okay.
Game on.
Looks like we got some building to do.
We're about ready to rock here.
We got to name our boat.
The DD, Dismantle Delta.
Well, fellas and lady.
Yeah?
So I was checking out Bravo's spot,
and I'm pretty sure that
they're building a raft today.
I feel confident.
Two pallets or one?
I saw one pallet just being lifted.
It looked like
there was three guys down there.
Joey has an obsession with Bravo.
He's always wondering,
like, what's going on over there.
Joey's not really focused on the goal.
We're surviving out here.
I'm really second-judging bringing him in.
Joey definitely has
a major obsession with Bravo,
but there's five of us over here thriving.
We eat every day.
I mean, we had a porcupine.
And we just want to stay on course
of minding our own.
We're building a raft today?
I'm taking it easy.
I'm not wasting no energy.
I'm really just chilling.
It's no rush. You can't rush the process.
You can't cheat the process.
You can't beat the process.
It just takes time.
I feel terrible.
I totally have a raging headache now.
Damn, she's not feeling good at all.
Really?
Oh God.
, I'm so sorry, Bri.
I wish I could help you.
It's okay.
Bri's been
a great addition to the team.
She's been helping us
find a bunch of clams to eat,
been digging, been working super hard.
But she just seems miserable,
and I really feel for her.
That sucks, bro.
Sucks so bad.
I'm a little worried about her
having to go home.
I'm not saying it would be detrimental
to us winning, but it would hurt.
Oh my God.
Oh, shit. What's going on?
Bri's sick as a dog, man.
-That sucks, Bri.
-I know.
- Did you yak, Bri?
- A little bit, yeah.
So you felt nauseous first, but then now
you have a headache from throwing up?
Yeah.
-I think the headache is from dry-heaving.
-Yeah.
Damn.
Dang.
I hope it goes away.
Bri's not looking good.
We need her to help us get stuff done.
Oh my God.
But if this keeps going on,
I'm not sure she has the fortitude
to push through and get through
these survival situations,
especially out here in this cold climate.
Your face is super red.
Bri, on the walk over here, had to drink
water out of several different streams.
Maybe she's got some kind of poisoning
from drinking that water.
It's concerning.
You know, if it came down to
a physical game, Bri can't move forward.
I mean, that's it.
Bri has chosen
to seek a medical evaluation.
If it is determined that
a medical treatment is required,
she will be removed from the game.
- Miss Bri, good morning.
- Hi, how are you doing?
- How are you doing?
- I had just consistent nausea.
I'm getting, like, full-body hot flashes,
and I woke up, like,
just feeling super dizzy.
Tell me about what you've been drinking.
Water.
Water. Have you been boiling the water?
Some of it, yeah.
Drinking contaminated water
increases the risk of giardia
This might be bad for me.
I could get sick from this.
an intestinal parasite
infection that may cause symptoms
such as severe nausea, stomach pain
and fatigue
to several weeks after exposure.
Okay, so that is
a little bit of a concern.
Definitely a little bit of a red flag.
We're down to two final teams,
and I believe that I am on track
to win with Bravo Team.
And so this is scary.
I haven't been sick like this before.
Not having anything
to, like, really mend yourself
or knowing when you could get better
when you're in an environment like this
just makes it ten times harder.
After evaluating Bri
to establish her baseline condition,
the medical team has determined
that Bri's vitals are within normal range,
and she's considered stable.
People came here to compete
and win a portion of a million dollars.
For me, it would give me
a lot more security,
but I am feeling worse and worse.
This just sucks.
Well, obviously you guys know
I've been sick.
I'm not going to contribute
the way that I want to
- Yeah.
- to everything that goes into
surviving out here.
But I just don't feel like
I could fully perform.
- Yeah.
- So
- Yeah.
- Honestly, I just feel miserable.
Yeah, you look miserable.
Like, the look on your face from today,
from the first day that I saw you
Yeah. Yeah.
I know you're a happy-go-lucky person,
and you don't look very happy right now.
Thanks.
Yeah, I just want to feel better.
Yeah.
And I just think that
it is best to leave right now,
because I just don't know
when I'll feel better.
All right.
My stomach is just in absolute knots.
Like, I'm just ready.
Yeah, you need to actually go.
- I feel, like, so sad to leave you guys.
- I know.
- All right, let's do it.
- Okay.
To be in a position where I have
to make a decision to flare for my health
just sucks.
A big highlight in this competition
was leaving Charlie
and making that trek over to Bravo,
and them deciding
to have me on their team.
My teammates have been really supportive,
and they just want me
to be healthy and okay.
And they don't want to see me out here
getting more and more sick.
It is time to go.
Whoa, I heard something.
- What?
- I heard a pop.
- You didn't hear a pop.
- I didn't hear anything.
- I heard something come from that way.
- Not me.
- You hear a pop?
- I didn't hear shit.
I didn't either.
You know, we've lost two players,
and it's just the three of us now.
That's the game. The more people
flare out, the more money on the table.
But you also have one more person's
worth of work to do.
You know, we're tired.
It's just another layer of suck.
But Bri has serious issues going on, and
we don't want to have that on our team.
We want to be the strongest team out here.
So hop on the boat and drive off,
plain and simple.
- Later, Bri.
- See you, Bri.
Then there were three.
The three amigos.
So we're building a raft today?
We can just get the raft going.
What's the purpose? We can get
out in the water and do a little fishing?
That what we're thinking,
why we're doing this?
Just, like, wanting us
to be prepared for Bravo.
I realize that my team's kind of
fed up with me talking about Bravo.
But I'm thinking we're gonna move into
something that might require action,
movement on a raft or something like that.
It could be anything,
and so we should consider that
as we move through this game.
I just care about the team,
and I just want us to do our best.
And so I'm not going to drop it.
Something to consider.
You'd rather have it and not need it
rather than need it and not have it.
Exactly.
You guys got that under control.
I can go on a hunt, can't I?
Go ahead.
I've built pallet rafts with my friends
in the neighborhood, floating the canal.
We made pallet rafts with dumb stuff.
Anything that would float.
- It's not complicated.
- Yeah.
So yeah, raft today?
- Yeah.
- Yeah.
Okay, let's go. Let's do this.
You want the bottom
to be as buoyant as possible.
The sides, you can just
build it up and stabilize.
We'll come up with three longer poles.
Growing up in Louisiana,
I done been in the swamps,
navigating the bayous
and the lakes my entire life.
I want to put that knowledge to the test
and help build the raft.
The pole's going to stick out
about two foot.
Two foot on that side, two foot
on that side, two foot on this side.
So you got the buoyant.
Only thing I'm worried about
is the bending of those poles.
Those poles aren't too thick
when using thin wood.
What kind of poles you talking?
-What were you talking? That's your
-Any type. Pretty much any sturdy pole.
- Yeah.
- We wrap buoys up inside the net.
I'm worried about the net going
-It's the way you tie it.
-Tie it, yeah.
Joseph is very focused,
but Eric can easily make things
more complicated than they are.
The poles literally just gonna sit
on top of the pontoons.
- Thickness?
- About like that. That's perfect.
- You want to get on poles?
- I can do that.
Then we're almost there.
- Then we got to think about a paddle.
- We need this to float first.
Dude, that's my least worries.
I want to float and be safe.
I'm trying to make this thing stable
so it doesn't flip over,
being that I was most likely
going to be floating on it.
I want this thing safe.
-Joe, think that notch is gonna be good?
-Yeah, a notch for the rope to sit in.
We'll notch all of them across
so the rope has a place?
Yeah. And we're gonna
tie them really tight.
Came up with some sticks.
What do we think?
Nope.
They might be good.
They look weak.
-Yeah, they look dry-rotted.
-These were standing.
Standing dead wood.
When we're all trying to work on a team,
these little pushes,
these little shoves seem unwarranted.
I just cut them down.
Bring a couple more down,
if you don't mind.
It just catches me off guard.
Joey!
Shit happens, bro.
They're all pretty sensitive.
I'm not here to just sit back.
I'm here to win this frickin' game.
I was gonna start taking this box apart
so I can make a paddle.
There's ways to do this,
and there's ways to do this.
And my way might differ
from my team members right now.
That's one of the worries I have because
You got too many worries and
we're not even close to needing a paddle.
My thing is, I'd like to make a paddle.
- Okay.
- I'm gonna use the box to make the paddle.
If you want to do that, but we
need to focus on stabilizing this thing.
That's what you were doing.
I'll do something else.
So we can get two things done at once
instead of standing around.
How important is a paddle right now?
Um It's gonna be important.
Gonna be important,
but it's not important.
-We not finished
-I'll let you do that.
-I'm gonna walk away. You guys finish it.
-Good deal. Thank you.
off.
Yeah, go throw your little tantrum.
- What's that?
- Go throw your tantrum.
- I'm not having a tantrum.
- I'm telling you to off.
You said off.
That's not very leader-like.
I've been leading from the back,
but it's time to speak up.
Not doing it no more.
I'm talking out loud so you can hear.
- Enjoy making the raft.
- Thank you. Stop talking.
I think because Eric has been
that kind of guy to try and take over,
Eric wanted his signature on the raft.
But either way,
it doesn't take a lot to set Eric off.
He just wanted to be bossy
and take over the situation.
Doesn't care that I wanted
to help him build a paddle, any of that.
So let it be his project.
When he gets stuck out on the water
I'll just say, "I told you so."
- That good enough for you?
- That's gonna be way good enough.
Lay it flat for you,
just like that.
I think we can fold it over,
just like this.
Poke holes in it.
-If I do a few right here
-Yep.
Mm-hm.
Then do the same thing to that flap.
Yep, right there.
So that way, we pull them
and they tighten up.
Good thing it's kind of
a short paddle across.
So we decided that
I'm gonna get on the raft,
and there's a good chance
that I might end up like Emily
and not be able to steer
or play the tide right.
Um, it would it would suck.
Where do you want
to launch from, Drew?
Probably right over here somewhere.
- Those rocks?
- Yeah.
- There you go.
- Cool.
One Alaskan paddle.
Done-ski. That's what
I'm talking about, boys. Teamwork.
You ready?
Let's roll them up a little
so they don't get water in them.
What the hell?
See those helicopters?
You hear something?
Helicopter?
-Yep. Let's get this off of there.
-It's game time, boys.
Bird's up. Bird's up.
-They're long-lining something.
-Yeah, something's hanging from it.
- What the hell?
- Let's go. Let's go. Let's go.
Come on, boys, let's go.
I can't tell exactly what it is, but it's
definitely a package way out there.
Hopefully it's some food.
-Look how far out they just dropped that.
-Oh.
What are you seeing, Drew?
Holy shit. It's a boat.
Hell, yeah.
I made a decision, built the raft.
Turns out that decision
was just, like, brilliant.
A survival opportunity
has been offered to the players.
No way!
-Let's go. New objective, dude.
-Let's launch our raft and go get a boat.
Two rowboats,
each with paddles and prawn traps,
have been dropped in the bay,
equal distance to the teams' shorelines.
- What do you see?
- A package way out there.
We got a package
waiting for us in the bay.
It looks like a boat of some sort.
You need to get that thing quick.
We gotta get moving, man.
- We going?
- Rolling.
I mean, I hate to say it,
but I told you so.
Oh, man.
Guys, we got to build.
This resource drop
will not only give them tools
to acquire some much-needed protein,
but access to other areas
of the game board they've yet to explore.
Dude, this means that we can fish.
We can actually go and investigate Bravo.
Let's get moving.
Let's go
before it gets further away.
We need to get to that boat.
It's a means of transportation.
It's a means of being able
to go get more food.
If they have utilized the
materials from the first drop properly,
they will have a distinct
advantage in this race.
- Watch your step.
- Awesome.
If we get to our boat and their boat's
still floating in the water,
we're gonna take it.
- Let's put it in here.
- Right here.
I'll hand you the paddle.
All right.
Y'all will have to push me out
once I get on here.
- Go.
- Feet forward.
I'm stabilizing the raft.
- We got eyes on Bravo yet?
- No.
We just need
to get the stabilizers on,
and we need to hurry
and get to that drop-off before Bravo.
Yeah. We don't know
how far ahead they are.
We got to get moving, man. Go, go, go.
Push me off, boys. Push me good.
All right, boys.
- All right. Good luck, Drew.
- Whoo!
Dude, Bravo's moving.
- Oh, I see the raft. Look.
- Bravo's got the raft out.
- You got it.
- Get to that boat.
This paddle's
will work great, I think.
When we saw Bravo,
we were like, "Crap."
We need to get our raft out there,
because it's clear
that Bravo is ahead of us.
Got that second knife
- so we can speed the process up?
- Yeah.
And I am concerned
that they're going to steal our boat.
-Yeah, dude. He's cruising right now.
-He's cruising that current.
I'm going to use this current
and just chill.
We got to move, man.
This is perfect.
I'm moving just like I need to.
I think we're good. Ready, partner?
Yeah. Let's go.
Let's go, go, go.
As we're preparing
to launch the raft, man,
I'm a bit nervous,
but I got my game face on.
- This could be a game changer.
- I hope.
Dude, he's moving.
Get out to that little current section
in the center there.
It'll take you right to it.
Once I get in our boat,
I'm going to take Delta's boat,
because it would hurt Delta real bad.
This is the perfect opportunity
to do that.
Ready, partner?
You're in the bayou right now, man.
You're just in the bayou.
- Yeah!
- It's all you, buddy.
You hear Delta hollering?
Yeah!
They're on the water.
Slow and steady.
- It's moving.
- It's moving.
Get it, baby.
- That current will do the rest.
- Yep.
All right, man.
You got it, Drew-ski!
Yeah, you're going
you're going straight to it.
Bring it to the house, baby!
Drew is pretty far ahead of Delta.
Dude, we gotta get our boat
and then make our way over to Delta.
If they got a boat,
we need to take that boat.
Uh-huh.
If we have both the boats,
we're golden.
It's game over.
While one boat per team
will keep the playing field even,
there are no rules that state
a team cannot take both,
thereby doubling their resources
and leaving the other team with severely
limited food sources as winter sets in.
I was panicking in my head, man.
That's some deep water,
and it's a long way to go.
My biggest fear was making a mistake
and dropping my paddle,
or misjudging the tide
and angle, passing it up
and having to go against the current.
When I felt myself get nervous,
I closed my eyes
said a prayer
and then I started rowing on that paddle.
Look at him.
Look at that thing paddle away.
Push. Push.
Heave!
Heave!
I really focused
on the current and my angle.
'Cause the current was like
It didn't look strong from shore, but it
was very strong, like, out in the middle.
Give me the strength.
Trying to get to the current.
I've navigated the swamps
and bayous of Louisiana.
If you can do that,
you can pretty much survive anything.
We gotta get moving, man.
Yeah, he's going to hit
that current right here. Watch.
-He's about to hit it and start cruising.
-No, Bravo's barely moving.
Looks sketchy.
Oh, our knots are coming undone.
That paddle's falling apart.
Oh God. I knew it would, man.
It's such a janky set up.
Oh my God, look at that thing.
That paddle is roasted.
Thank you, God.
Grateful.
I'm drifting a little further
than I want to right now.
Drew, you need to move to your right
or you're gonna miss it!
Working on it.
He's starting
to drift away a little bit.
Hurry up
or you're gonna get pushed away!
The tide is rising quickly,
creating a very strong current that is
increasingly difficult to navigate.
Dig deep! Come on!
The boat's going away.
I look at the bubbles in front of me,
trying to see
how far I'm moving each paddle,
and I'm moving maybe you know,
8-12 inches every time I paddle.
And it's just getting worse and worse,
and that current just kept pushing me.
And then it seemed like
I was so close to the boat,
and then all of a sudden,
here I am floating past it.
There you are, baby.
- Almost there, man.
- He's strong. He'll get it done.
Bird dog.
He's just bird-dogging
that thing and going.
Yeah, he is.
I just can't.
Go, Drew!
It's right there!
I look over,
and the other team was splashing like
I hate to say it,
but I'm like, thank God it wasn't me.
I just put my head down
to take a breather,
and every time I looked up,
that boat got closer and closer.
Joseph's at the boat.
Yeah, baby!
Yeah!
Yeah!
Whoo!
Ah! Thank you, God.
When I flopped in that boat, bro,
like, my soul went back in my body.
Like
I was like, "Man, like, I really made it."
Come on, get it!
It's too far.
Push it!
Push it!
At this point,
I'm not worried about taking Delta's boat.
We need to worry about our own boat
floating out in the middle of the bay.
This is his last chance right here.
He's about to start kicking.
Oh, they went swimming.
-They're in the water?
-Are they in the drink? No way.
- In the water.
- They're done.
- Can I see?
- He's in the water kicking.
- Let me get a look.
- Oh, no. That ain't good.
That's not good at all.
He only has so much time in there.
Oh my goodness.
Kick!
Oh God, this is absolutely brutal.
It's killing me. I'm here to win.
I just don't have any gas
to put on the fire.
He's tired.
His hands and feet got to be cold and wet.
Get out of that water, fool.
He's floating further. He ain't
getting to that boat. Look at him.
He's getting further away. It's over.
He ain't that tough now.
-You got this, Drew!
-I'm just gonna go to the shoreline here!
-Gotta come get me.
-He's bailing.
I'm going to the shoreline,
bring him dry clothes.
Oh, man.
Holy shit.
Look at how far away he is now.
He's done.
What is that?
Guess we're about ready to make
our first contact with Team Bravo.
We're young, we're athletic,
we've been getting after it, dude.
We're here to win at whatever cost.
That'd get barrels pointed at your face,
in a lot of situations.
- Easy, Mountain Man.
- Man up!
Hold on!
I'm sinking!
Come on, let's go!
What you got for us?
- They dropped something.
- Yeah.
"Is this your final team?"
"That's for you to decide."
We're a bit worried about you,
Sammy, about your health.
I feel like I can keep pushing,
you know? Keep going.
- Pick it up, come on!
- I'm getting pretty tired.
I can't feel my legs.
I ain't carrying you across two
rivers for you to slow down.
-We got a million dollars to win!
-Joey, you made that decision.
I'm so close to my breaking point.
It's kind of like a ticking time bomb.
What if Pony Boy today moved to Bravo?
Need an extra pair of hands?
-How naive would they have to be
-To not notice that?
At this point, I'm ready to see him
off the team. I'm done.
I'll get the flare and fire it,
if this is what it's gonna come down to.
Whoo!
I'll be damned.
