Steven Seagal: Lawman (2009) s02e07 Episode Script
The Innocents
Jefferson Parish Yeah, and the truck-- saw a body in the driveway.
He's laying on the ground? Gonna be 5'3", about 140.
crime scene.
Just so you know, he's got a gun.
That's just a lot of dope.
Sure, it's a lot of weed.
I just can't get over how they involve children in this [bleep.]
, man.
Because of what you did to your sister and that baby, I don't give a [bleep.]
about you.
I got Belly of the Beast.
I got Ticker, Hard to Kill.
I got all that, man.
There's children in the home, so we're going in real slow, real calm, real careful.
Put your hands up.
Oh, my God.
I make a living in the movies, but for the past 20 years I've also been a cop.
And along with some of the finest deputies on the force, I serve the people of Jefferson Parish, Louisiana.
Code 94-G, shots fired.
My name is Steven Seagal.
All units respond.
That's right, Steven Seagal, Deputy Sheriff.
[Phone ringing.]
Hello.
Okay, that's fine.
Okay, no problem.
Was that the narc call we've been expecting? Yes.
About 20 minutes out from the point stop.
[Walkie-talkie beeps.]
Larry, we're heading over to back up narcotics for a stop and search of a vehicle.
All right, 10-4.
Roger that.
We had been waiting for a call from narcotics in regard to a vehicle that's supposedly transporting a large shipment of dope.
As soon as the vehicle enters Jefferson Parish jurisdiction, narcotics is gonna pull the vehicle over.
And they've requested our assistance in the stop.
Doing a stop like this when there could be a large quantity of narcotics or dope in the car can be very dangerous.
That person driving that car, who may have been arrested countless times, is not gonna be hesitant to want to flee from the police.
Or worse, they may want to get into a shootout.
So we want to approach this situation with extreme caution.
It's time to get ready, Brian.
There's the marked unit and the target vehicle.
Hang tight right here and back them up.
That's strange, man.
Like, two women in the vehicle.
All right, looks like they're making an arrest.
They're getting hooked up now.
[Engine revving.]
Narcotics is gonna take the vehicle to a nearby parking lot to search it really well-- someplace out of the way from traffic.
They already got a dog on the car.
Looks like the dog's hitting on something.
I guess these ladies are trafficking.
[Girl crying.]
She got a baby in the car.
[Baby crying.]
It just ain't right.
I just can't get over how they involve children in this [bleep.]
, man.
They probably figured they're less likely to be searched and put under that much scrutiny if they have a baby in the car.
It just looks like a family trip.
Right.
Can you imagine how painful it's gonna be if they take that baby from her? You smell that? Smell it from here, man.
I ain't never seen that much marijuana in one place, have you? Man, that's a lot, boy.
Look, the poundage is written on each bundle.
Call them numbers out to me.
And 8.
45.
Yeah, it's right under That's just a lot of dope.
The amounts we're dealing with here could easily pass through ten guys.
You know, one guys buys, you know, a five-pounder, another guys sells that into pounds, another guy breaks that pound into ounces, that guy breaks that into quarters and eighths, all the way down to high school kids selling them one joint at a time.
I mean, this has prevented a lot of people from having access to this stuff, taking down an amount like this.
[Siren whoops.]
Another police car coming in.
Looks like there was another vehicle involved.
We now believe that this suspect was involved in the trafficking operation as well.
In order to avoid suspicion, he probably had his sister and mother carry the drugs.
Luckily, one of our officers noticed him following the target vehicle and was able to jump him and find out who he was.
Why did your sister get into this? Yeah, but you can't put your sister with the baby.
What about the baby, man? Huh? Because of what you did to your sister and that baby, I don't give a [bleep.]
about you.
I understand.
But I care about her.
And I care about that baby.
If you're a [bleep.]
Man, you got to get that baby and that girl off.
Otherwise, you know what's gonna happen? Child Protective Services are gonna come here and take that baby away.
[Exhales sharply.]
Some day when you get out and you have a kid, you're gonna think twice about what you just did, about putting your sister and that kid in this kind of situation.
You heard me, right? Save them.
The thing that just has me very, very upset, just, I can't get over it no matter how long I've been doing this is, how could they risk losing their daughter, their child.
It's just--I just I have no words.
[Car engine starts up.]
[Bluesy acoustic guitar music.]
- Hey.
- Hey, mama.
I've got some exciting news.
I've been invited to be the Grand Marshal for one of the Mardi Gras parades that runs right through Jefferson Parish.
Really? Alla's more of a family deal.
A lot of fun.
I was thinking about inviting some of the kids I met last year at the New Orleans Children's Hospital.
A lot of them are doing very, very well.
I'd love to share the day with some of them.
That's wonderful.
What about you, sweetheart? Do you want to come? I would love to.
All right.
Steven cares so much about children.
This is something he's been doing all his life.
So I'm definitely gonna be there to show him how much love and appreciate what he does.
[Acoustic guitar music.]
We're on our way to a briefing with the narcotics unit.
Based on the intel, we believe we have a home where one of the residents is selling narcotics.
We got kids in the house? Make sure that we make an entrance with extreme caution.
- All right? - All right.
There's children in the home, so we're gonna really try to enter with calm and caution.
[Walkie-talkie beeps.]
Remember, guys, we're going in real slow, real calm, real careful.
All right, copy that.
[Walkie-talkie beeps.]
Here we go.
Police.
Put your hands up.
Oh, my God.
[Baby crying.]
We've identified a house where someone has been selling drugs.
Remember, guys, there's children in the home, so we're going in real slow, real calm, real careful.
All right, copy that.
- Police.
- What the--oh, my God.
Put your hands up.
Let me see your hands, man.
N y'all be--can y'all-- you got the left side there? Get down on your knees, son.
Got any weapons or anything on you? That's a little kid right there.
Yeah, I see him.
What the hell? Yeah, but he don't-- can you calm down? They gonna tell you in a minute, baby.
Okay, well, they're not gonna fool with your baby.
Hang on.
Hang on.
Ma'am, will you please sit down? Just--just try to relax.
We'll explain everything in just a few seconds.
When we entered this house, there was a lot of people inside, including women and children.
Now we're interviewing the main suspect.
[bleep.]
.
How many kids live in the house? Two right now.
You don't know how dangerous it is to have these drugs in the house with these kids? That's so that they don't go in there and ingest it, but what about the fact that somebody finds out about where you're living, where you're selling, they come over here they try to rob you.
I mean, have you ever thought about that? You ain't gonna get no father of the year award for this, all right? It's just a shame 'cause he's doing all of this he says to help his kids, but this ain't helping his kids.
They're gonna grow up without a dad.
White in color.
Look at all these toys.
Just kills me.
Yeah, you see the baby in there sleeping? It ain't right, you know? Dog coming in.
Here.
Here.
Have him check that corner.
Ready to get up? Come on.
I got something here.
Bag of dope.
How much you guys find over there? We seized a little over $5,000.
It's obviously not for his personal use.
This is for intent to distribute.
And that's what the scales are for and that's what the large quantities are for.
How long you been slinging? Man.
Well, if you got kids what the [bleep.]
Is wrong with you, man? [Baby crying.]
You want to say something anybody in here? Nothing? Get a new life, bro.
They got babies in the house and trafficking drugs and narcotics.
For me, it's unconscionable.
Thank you, Johnny.
Good day today, man.
Thanks for all the good work.
[Engine turns over.]
Babies and narcotics in two cases in one week.
Ain't that enough to upset any police officer? Man, that pissed me off.
Everybody getting ready for Mardi Gras.
That's right.
Mardi Gras parade's downtown and more for an adult crowd, whereas Jefferson Parish is more of a family-oriented-- Yes, that is true, Brian.
You know, Brian must have took those smart pills last night.
[Laughter.]
Check that right there on your right.
Nothing.
You see anything, Brian? No, nothing yet.
We just got a call: Suspicious characters slinging drugs in this area.
We're here canvassing the area.
This is the street they ran on us that one time too.
They had a very, very good lookout system here.
We even tried coming in on foot, but they just--their lookout system was so good, you know? Keep your eye down there for me, Brian.
[Radio chatter.]
Those might be the guys we got the call about.
[Walkie-talkie beeps.]
Larry.
You see those guys ahead of us? Let's check it out.
[Walkie-talkie beeps.]
Roger that.
[Tires screech.]
Put your hands up.
Hands up.
Put your hands up.
[walkie-talkie beeps.]
Those might be the guys we got the call about.
Let's check it out.
[Tires screech.]
Hands up.
Hands up.
Put your hands up.
Let me see your hands, man.
[Radio chatter.]
You ain't got no narcotics or nothing on you, huh, man? Oh, no, no.
You mind if I check? Search them good.
That's cool.
While we were responding to the call, we came across these guys and thought they might be up to something.
- No weapons or nothing? - Nah.
Good.
We just got a report of some people back here might be selling narcotics or whatever.
We're just checking.
Y'all look straight.
Thank you.
Belly of the Beast.
I got Ticker.
I got Into the Sun.
What about the classics? Under Siege.
Under Siege I got Above the Law.
Out for Justice.
Hard to Kill.
I got all that, man.
Man.
She's beautiful.
Give him a hug.
After several cases of seeing parents who put their children in Jeopardy, it's nice for us to see parents who really love their children, protect their children, good people who are really trying to make the neighborhood a better place.
[Laughs.]
It's a good group of people, Johnny.
I love to see people who spend time with their children and their family.
Definitely.
Today's the Mardi Gras parade.
I get to serve as a Grand Marshal.
We get to pick up some patients from the New Orleans Children's Hospital.
These are all cancer survivors, so they're doing well enough to come with us, And I'm very excited to have them on my float.
[Cheers and applause.]
Very nice to meet y'all.
You look well.
Come on on the bus.
Whoo-hoo! Hi, mom.
[Laughs.]
Mommy has to go now and meet daddy for the parade.
Okay, you stay with grandma.
Mommy's gonna bring you lots of pretty Mardi Gras beads to play with, okay? I'm very excited to join Steven for the parade.
I'm normally a bit shy and a little nervous to be in front of a big crowd, but I'm more than happy to be there for Steven and the children.
One more kiss.
Mwah.
[Sirens blaring.]
Here you go.
Police escort.
Having the opportunity to spend the day with the kids of Jefferson Parish is a real honor for me.

When I was sick, I never really t to go to parades at all.
You're the athletic one, huh? I didn't go to any.
And, you know, I get to be in one now, so it's really exciting.
Ms.
Linda, what color? Your mask is upside down.
[Laughs.]
I'm already too scary as it is.
Oh.
[Chuckles.]
[Kids shouting.]
That's what I'm talking about.

You look very nice.

This is my wife.
