The Glee Project (2011) s02e07 Episode Script
Theatricality
1 Lily rose to the top by owning her standout moment and hosed away the competition.
Everything works really well for Lily this week.
While Nellie's lack of confidence sunk her to the bottom yet again.
Try acting something that you're not.
Charlie and Aylin were inseparable and followed each other to the bottom three, and even though Aylin gave Charlie another shot, the mentors didn't do the same.
I just don't know that what you're doing is the show.
Now eight contenders remain to compete for a guest-starring role on glee, and that's all you need to know so far on The Glee Project [School bell rings.]
You and I are very similar onscreen.
And, like, even vocally, it's kind of weird.
But I also think we're completely different though.
- We are.
- We're so different.
I'm really close friends with Michael, and we bonded so much over this whole process, and he's become one of my best friends.
It sucks, knowing you're competing for the same thing.
It's so hard to find the balance, being friends and competing and, like, trying to best one another.
I am best friends with Blake.
It sucks that I have to compete with him, but I would gnaw off my own left foot to win this competition.
Hey, guys.
How are you doing? Hey, hey.
Okay.
How is it without Charlie? - Quiet.
- Definitely quiet.
[Laughs.]
I'm gonna miss Charlie, but I'm even more determined to win.
The competition is definitely on.
The theme for this week is Theatricality.
- Yay! - Whoo! There are only eight of us left, because I feel like I can really shine.
This is now making theatricality work for television.
There's that fine line between keeping it real and still heightened.
Your homework assignment this week is I hope I get it from the musical a chorus line.
- Yes! - Oh, my God! I don't know this song, but, I mean, I'm gonna practice the heck out of it because there's only three guys, so I really gotta step it up this week.
A chorus line really is exactly like the situation you're in.
It's a group of people coming to audition, and they want this job more than anything.
Here are the lyric sheets.
Thank you.
As usual, it's up to you guys to decide who sings what part and to create whatever choreography or staging.
So tomorrow, you'll perform for me and a guest from glee who's no stranger to theatricality.
Good luck, and I can't wait to see it.
- Thanks, Robert.
- Thanks, Robert.
Bye.
Who wants number one? II'll put my name down for one, but that's not the one I really want.
- You want you want six? - Seven.
These last few weeks, I haven't been doing amazing, but theatricality, I mean, I'm excited.
I did theater, and the only concern is, can I be confident enough? Okay, get in a line.
Get in two lines of four and four.
I do feel extra pressure this week because theatricality is something that I embody all the time.
Work with me for a second.
A light bulb went off.
It's game time now in the competition.
There's no room to half-ass.
Front row, take a step to your right.
Back row, take a step to your left.
I'm just a little annoyed and irritated because Charlie's not here, so it feels weird and different.
Yes, it's working.
Okay, ready? Okay.
Lily yelling is the last thing I need right now.
And it worked, and it worked like a puzzle.
Very good.
[School bell rings.]
- Hey, everybody.
- Hi.
- How are you guys doing? All: Good.
So today's guest got their start in musical theater and now is one of glee's hottest new stars.
Oh, my God! - Sebastian! - Oh, my God! I love that you guys had that reaction.
That's amazing.
Hey.
Good seeing you.
So as you know, this is grant gustin, who plays the scheming warbler Sebastian Smythe on glee.
Good to be here.
I'm excited.
Grant was performing in the first national tour of the Broadway revival of West Side story when I cast him in glee.
Theatricality is about living, I think, at a heightened emotion, and song and dance is all you can do to express how you feel in that moment.
Cool.
All right, well, I cannot wait to see the number.
Let's see I hope I get it.
[Intro chords to song.]
Again, step, kick, kick, leap, kick, touch again, step, kick, kick, leap, kick, touch again God, I hope I get it I hope I get it how many people does he need? how many people does he need? God, I hope I get it I hope I get it how many boys, how many girls? how many boys, how many? look at all the people at all the people how many people does he need? how many boys, how many girls? how many people does he I really need this job please, God, I need this job I've got to get this job God, I really blew it I really blew it how could I do a thing like that? how could I do a thing like now I'll never make it I'll never make it he doesn't like the way I look he doesn't like the way I dance he doesn't like the way I God, I think I got it I think I've got it I knew he liked me all the time still, it isn't over it isn't over I can't imagine what he wants I can't imagine what he God, I hope I get it I hope I get it I've come this far, but even so it could be yes, it could be no how many people does he I really need this job please, God, I need this job I knew I had it from the start I've got to get this job [Applause.]
Great job, you guys.
Wasn't it good? Yeah, that was fantastic.
It was great.
All right, so first, Michael.
First of all, your voice is fantastic.
So just bring that confidence in.
- Okay.
- 'Cause it's there.
It just every once in a while slips away.
Okay, thank you.
I don't think that Michael wants this as bad as all of us.
He gets confidence notes over and over again and doesn't really change anything.
Nellie, I wanna see you be more confident as well.
It was a shifty eye thing.
Like, you were unsure about exactly what you were doing.
Be brave.
You're, like, on the cliff.
So just jump.
Okay.
- Ali, you are fantastic.
- Thank you.
It was organically coming out of you.
It was fabulous.
- Thank you so much.
- Yeah.
Lily, you are an incredibly funny person.
Um, you carried it with you throughout the whole time.
And your voice is spectacular.
- Thank you.
- So, grant.
Who are you gonna pick as the winner this week? Well, my winner today, just I thought the person that embodied everything that we're talking about Is Ali.
[Cheers and applause.]
I haven't won yet.
And I really wanted to win this week.
So, check.
So congratulations, Ali.
This means you'll get a one-on-one mentoring session with grant.
Yes.
As well as a step-out moment in the big group number, which is When I grow up by the pussycat dolls.
- Yeah! - Oh! So the concept behind this number is you are going to be grocery store clerks fantasizing about becoming musical icons.
So we have picked a musical superstar which each of you will transform into.
Shut up! Shut up! These pop superstars are all so iconic and out there that you'll need to tap in to your theatrical side.
First, Michael, you are going to be Elvis.
[Cheering.]
Yeah! [Elvis impression.]
I'm the king, baby.
Aylin, you are going to be Madonna.
- Shut up! - Love it! It took me a second to understand why they chose Madonna for a turkish Muslim.
But I think I get it.
She's super sexy.
So I mean, hello.
Abraham, you get to be David bowie.
Whoo! Blake, you're gonna be boy George.
That's awesome.
That's so [Laughs.]
- Lily? - Yes.
You are going to be cyndi lauper.
Yes! All right, yes! Ali? Yes? You get to be Katy Perry.
[Squealing.]
- Shanna? - Yes? You are going to be [Chuckles.]
Lady gaga.
Oh, my God! Lady gaga, like, wears some of the craziest outfits.
That meat dress is all I can think about right now.
- Nellie? - Yes? You're gonna be the one and only Britney Spears.
Oh, my God.
[Cheers and applause.]
Why this girl as Britney Spears? I don't really get it.
I feel like there were some less bold choices that would, um, fit a little better.
Why do you do this to me? You got it, Nellie.
Every time.
[Laughter.]
The idea this week is to really lose yourself in the character and be big, bold, and most importantly, theatrical.
- Good luck.
- Have fun, you guys.
Yeah.
See you guys soon.
All: Bye.
[School bell rings.]
Do y'all know who your theatrical icon is? All: Yes.
I love cyndi lauper.
But, like, I don't know how she moves.
I think I have a little bit more of a challenge than the other girls.
Because their icons are so set in stone.
You don't have to mimic who the person is you're doing.
I think it's really just being a heightened version of some sort of celebrity.
I think I'm like cyndi lauper.
I mean, she's quirky and crazy and weird.
And I feel like I'm all of those things.
On the group part, oh, my God.
If y'all embarrass me again what we're doing is so simple.
It's not even dancing.
It's literally a pose after a pose after a pose.
This is a game of memory.
And you just need to know what "pose" you hit next.
When I grow up, go in.
Go apart, cross.
Nice.
Fresh and clean, number one chick.
Spin, scene.
I know we're still learning it, but if you screw up, it's fine.
It's better to screw up and then just get back into it than just be a zombie the whole time.
Zach is definitely getting it into our minds that this has gotta be very big.
And it's gotta be very perfect.
And we cannot mess up like we did in dance-ability.
Try it again.
[School bell rings.]
Narrator: Up next Would you consider yourself androgynous when you perform? Why can't he answer that question? It's actually not a very hard question to answer.
It's not.
The smell is indescribable.
It is disgusting.
[School bell rings.]
- Hi.
- Hi.
So theatricality.
Yeah.
You should be feeling good this week.
I am.
Now I've got a confession Today, mostly what we're looking for is just to convey the meaning of the lyric, not just getting the right notes.
- Hello.
- Hi, Michael.
Hi, Nikki.
I tried not to practice it a lot.
- Okay.
- 'Cause that was your advice.
Yeah, yeah.
I gave Michael a note last week.
And that is to not get so in your head and maybe don't even practice before coming in and doing your line.
Go ahead and say what you wanna say Almost.
[Shrieking.]
- [Laughs.]
- That was terrible.
Michael, come on, let's do that again.
So go ahead and say what you wanna say Oh, no.
I'm super embarrassed right now.
But I'm not gonna let on because, I mean, I'm super confident, right? I'm Elvis.
Are you kidding? You're Elvis.
It just sucks to, like, not have a great session.
The only thing left now is the big group number.
And hopefully I can redeem myself.
- Hey, how was it? - It was all right.
The end.
Aww.
I was, like, waiting for elaboration.
No.
I don't care to elaborate.
It was fine.
I mean, I'm definitely worried for Michael because he looked very visibly frustrated, like he was having a hard time.
Hello.
How are you feeling this week? I'm feeling good.
- Let's talk about David bowie.
- Uh-huh.
Wasn't he known for being sort of androgynous? Yes.
Would you consider yourself androgynous when you perform? I consider myself free when I perform.
Oh, please, no.
I was just sort of confused as to why Nikki asked me that.
I was teased a lot growing up for being, like, sort of feminine.
Let's see how you do on this.
But I ain't complaining we all wanna be famous Uh where's the beat? But I ain't complaining we all wanna be famous Abraham is not doing amazing.
He's just a little less on it today than I had hoped for.
He did not wanna answer the question about him being androgynous when he performs.
Why why can't he answer that question? It's actually not a very hard question to answer.
It's not.
[School bell rings.]
Oh, my oh, okay, ooh.
Flo, that's my real hair.
Nikki's androgynous comment threw me off for a loop for a little bit.
But I understand.
I mean, David bowie is androgynous.
And I feel like my challenge in this is to own it.
- There you go.
- Wow.
Here's your dress.
[Chuckles.]
Is it heavy? Yeah.
Lady gaga dresses crazy all the time.
So of course, I'll be wearing the meat dress in the video shoot.
It's insane.
- Shanna's meat dress.
- Oh, my God.
- I love it.
- Oh, my God.
I'm feeling like lady gaga.
I may look like I'm this sweet, innocent, small-town girl, which, I mean, I am.
But at the same time, I'm competitive.
And I am ready to just be fierce.
Oh, look, look, look.
[Laughs.]
Oh, my [laughter.]
Oh, my God.
Oh, my God.
Is that, like, real meat? Oh, it's you wanna touch it? - No.
- It's really, really good.
The challenge for the contenders this week is to bring a specific theatrical element to the character that they've created, a rock icon.
With Nikki being pregnant, she's at home resting for this night shoot.
Zach and I will be here to observe the video and fill her in later.
Camera's gonna look towards you.
You're gonna say your line right to camera.
Playback.
When I grow up I wanna see the world drive nice cars I wanna have groupies I've been giving it a lot of thought, of how I wanna, like, portray boy George.
And I'm not gonna go straight for the stereotypical way of, you know, playing a gay man.
I have a homosexual brother, so I know that it's not all about being sassy.
Blake was so different.
He was his interpretation of boy George.
And it was really, really good.
I'm in a shopping cart with glitter on it in a blue wig.
What is my life right now? Obviously heaven.
Winning the homework assignment is amazing because it really sets you on the right foot for the week.
I got to have a one-on-one session with grant.
I have a question for you.
Yes, please.
When I sing musical theater songs, I immediately understand the style.
With pop music, making it theatrical I don't know, like, I'm a little nervous about that.
Just don't let this style of music stop you from being able to emote the feelings of how how you actually feel.
Do what you know how to do and you're really good at, which is bringing honesty to a performance.
A trendsetter From what I've seen from Ali so far, this is so her week.
Oh, yeah.
Ali has stepped up to the plate 100%.
Mmhmm.
Mm-hmm.
I want all of Elvis.
I'm just gonna have the camera here.
I think I am ready to be Elvis.
You know, it's they're big shoes to fill.
Just might get it you just might get it He is a different human being.
Look, one take.
Moving on.
Whoa, that was incredible.
So how are you gonna open them? Um, so I'll go like this.
And then I'll be like ch and let go.
- Uh-huh.
Playback.
I always wanted to be a superstar [Laughs.]
Yeah! So let me see you laying back on the fruit.
Yeah, like let's roll it.
Last week, Ryan said, "if you can't be confident naturally, "trying thinking of a character.
And then, you know, act a little bit.
" Yeah, leanin' back into it.
I could bring so much more if I was comfortable.
But I don't even really know how to act like Britney Spears.
How far can you lean back on that? [Grunts.]
It's like she'll fight it all the way.
She's not throwing herself into it at all.
If she would just let loose - they're gonna be all, like, in the camera.
You're gonna push them all aside.
So that's gonna be the deal.
Okay.
When I think of cyndi lauper, I think of fun loving.
And so tonight, I'm just kind of embodying the fun and the spunk of cyndi lauper that I think is a lot like me.
Yes.
I wanna be in movies Probably the person that was the least of a character then was Lily.
She looks like she's having fun.
But she looks like she's Lily having fun.
And that's not what the challenge is.
Cool, cut.
So let me see you start back by the chicken.
[Laughs.]
Eww.
We've been at the shoot for, like, five hours at this point.
And the smell of this dress is indescribable.
It is disgusting.
Every time I move, the smell of my dress is nauseating, where your mouth just starts watering.
And your eyes are watering because you're about to throw up.
You just might get it Yeah! That's what I'm talking about.
She throws herself into it.
She doesn't let the fact she's wearing 20 pounds of meat lose her focus.
You'd never know the dress was that heavy or gross and stinks.
Okay.
So hey, y'all, hold the first one.
Be careful what you wish for 'cause you just might get it The pressure is definitely on during the video shoot.
There are eight of us so that you have to shine.
Like, if you don't shine and you lack luster, then you will be going home.
- All right, here we go.
- When I grow up This is the absolute toughest decision so far.
Oh, I agree.
I don't know what we're gonna do.
I mean, this is the best these contenders have ever been.
Every one of 'em was on fire.
I don't know what we're gonna do.
Okay, here we go, rolling.
Here we go.
And cue playback, please.
[Glass shattering.]
I'm gonna need a cleanup in aisle four.
[Siren blaring.]
[The pussycat dolls' when I grow up.]
now I've got a confession ha ha ha ha when I was young I wanted attention ha ha ha ha and I promised myself that I'd do anything ha ha ha ha anything at all for them to notice me ha ha ha ha but I ain't complainin' we all wanna be famous so go ahead and say what you wanna say you don't know what it's like to be nameless want 'em to know what your name is 'cause see when I was younger I would say when I grow up I wanna be famous I wanna be a star I wanna be in movies when I grow up I wanna see the world drive nice cars I wanna have groupies when I grow up be on TV people know me be on magazines when I grow up fresh and clean number one chick wanna step out on the scene but be careful what you wish for 'cause you just might get it you just might get it you just might get it get it they used to tell me I was silly ha ha ha ha until I popped up on the TV LA LA LA LA I always wanted to be a superstar ha ha ha ha and I knew that singing songs would get me this far I see them staring at me oh I'm a trendsetter yes this is true 'cause what I do no one can do it better you can talk about me 'cause I'm a hot topic I see you watching me watching me and I know you want it all When I grow up I wanna be famous I wanna be a star I wanna be in movies when I grow up I wanna see the world drive nice cars I wanna have groupies when I grow up be on TV people know me be on magazines when I grow up fresh and clean number one chick when I step out on the scene but be careful what you wish for 'cause you just might get it you just might get it you just might get it when I grow up I wanna be famous I wanna be a star I wanna be in movies when I grow up I wanna see the world drive nice cars I wanna have groupies when I grow up be on TV people know me be on magazines when I grow up fresh and clean number one chick when I step out on the scene but be careful what you wish for 'cause you just might get it you just might get it you just might get it but be careful what you wish for 'cause you just might get it you just might get it you just might get it get it All right, everybody.
All my rock stars, that is a wrap.
[Cheers and applause.]
[School bell rings.]
Narrator: Up next This note is something that you've been given several times.
I need you to dive headfirst.
Yes! Oh, my God.
[School bell rings.]
This week's theme was theatricality.
As a group, you have all come such a long way.
So let's start with the person who we felt really shone the brightest this week.
Ali.
[Gasps.]
You really did own it.
Congratulations, you are first on the callback list for next week.
Thank you so much.
[Applause.]
That feels so good to know that your hard work paid off.
And this is the ultimate, ultimate compliment in this competition.
Shanna, Blake, and Aylin, the three of you also did a great job this week.
Congratulations, you're all called back.
- Thank you.
- Thank you.
I am so freakin' close to being on glee.
I'm at a point right now where I just wanna be like, "can we just go ahead and eliminate everybody so that I can get seven episodes, please?" The four of you are here for different reasons throughout the week.
Michael, grant noticed some confidence issues in the homework assignment.
And this note about confidence is something that you've been given several times.
In the studio, you took my note from last week just a little bit too far about not preparing at all, instead of just not over-preparing.
What do you think that was? Was it confidence? I have no idea.
I don't know I don't really know.
Maybe I was thinking too much about not thinking.
It sucks.
It's a repeat note, and I get it.
Nellie, at the video shoot, it did take a long time to get there.
But I think being Britney Spears was a great thing for you because it was really a challenge 'cause it's so different.
Did you feel awkward at that? Yeah, it was, like, a lot to to process.
But I think part of it too is seeing everyone else around me diving in.
And, like, that is, like, scary to me.
It feels like we've been begging you to stay and begging you to be more.
I need you to dive headfirst.
Abraham, this week, I guess I was a little bit surprised that it took as long as it did to get the right performance.
I, um when I got that the androgynous comment thing from you, I think that threw me off a little bit.
'Cause I grew up bullied a lot, you know, for being, like, "feminine.
" And, I don't know, for some reason, it sort of, like, attacked my vocal chords.
It's not a negative thing.
In fact, you can list rock stars throughout history who are all androgynous.
Mick Jagger.
David bowie.
- You name it.
- Most many of them.
Most of them are.
Lily, how did you feel about cyndi lauper? I'm a huge fan of her music.
But I don't think of her as, like, a pop icon.
I think in order to develop a character that even if it's cyndi lauper, and I realize that she doesn't have Elvis moves and Madonna-type things.
The sense of an '80s moves and things that you could've incorporated.
And I think that's what we were looking for.
Because at the end of it, you're here because we just couldn't find cyndi lauper.
It seemed like you were just Lily having fun.
There was nothing that would even define a character even if you don't know exactly "what cyndi lauper does.
" [Sniffling.]
Nellie, you will be doing a last-chance performance tonight.
Abraham, you will also be doing a last-chance performance tonight.
Michael You are called back for next week.
I'm a little surprised that Michael isn't in the bottom three.
He got a repetitive note in the homework assignment.
And he didn't do that well in the studio.
It's a little upsetting for him to be called back, especially theatricality week.
I mean, just everything about it sucks.
So Nellie, Abraham, and Lily, this means that you'll be doing last-chance performances for Ryan tonight.
And he'll decide who's called back and who isn't.
Nellie, your song isI'm the only one by Melissa Etheridge.
Cool.
Abraham, your song isstereo hearts by gym class heroes and Adam levine.
Okay.
- Lily.
- [Sighs.]
Your song issomeone like you by Adele.
- Yes! - Oh, my God.
I was hoping that.
Oh, my God, okay.
You gave it to her? Whoo! All right.
Okay, so you have two hours to rehearse.
So good luck, everyone.
We're excited to see the show tonight.
[Sighs.]
I am relieved that I got someone like you by Adele.
Okay, let's do this.
I'm really gonna show Ryan this simple, natural side, um, that he hasn't seen yet.
And it's what he wants to see.
[Vocalizing.]
Being in the bottom three is always scary because you have a one-in-three chance of going home.
And I'm not ready to leave yet.
I used to used to used to used to now I'm over that 'cause holding grudges over love is ancient artifacts and I'm the only one who'll drown in my desire for you oh Each week I want it more.
And each time I think of what glee is and what this is and how this is, like, an audition for, you know, a career.
I'm the only one [Vocalizing.]
And sometimes it lasts in love but sometimes it hurts instead [School bell rings.]
Narrator: Up next I can act my way out of a [Bleep.]
box.
You give me a scene, and I will [Bleep.]
do it.
I want you to drop the diva.
- Hi.
- Hello.
I love dancing.
And I love Zach.
Boom, jump, shoom, shoom.
Ba-da, boom, kah.
He is a brilliant choreographer.
Swim, swim, ba-doom boom bah.
I love the way he teaches not on a count, but on, like, boom, tick, tah.
Pop, pop, pop, pop.
Badoom, boom, tah, boom, boom, kah, or whatever whatever it is.
- Vroom, shot.
Go pull, push, walk, leg, knee, down, and one, two, three.
Hit, go pull, drop, look.
Easy cheesy.
[Laughs.]
[School bell rings.]
Okay, this week the theme was theatricality.
- Mm-hmm.
- And Nellie is first.
In a nutshell, Nellie is here because she still had the confidence issue.
Even as Britney Spears? She humors you like, "oh, yes, I'm happy I have Britney Spears.
" But there's still that thing, you know she's miserable.
And she said, like, "why do you guys keep doing this to me?" Okay.
Nellie.
Hello, I'm Nellie, and I'm gonna be singing I'm the only one.
[Melissa Etheridge's I'm the only one.]
please baby can't you see my mind's a burnin' hell it's got razors a-rippin' and tearing and stripping my heart apart as well tonight you told me that you ache for something new that some other woman is looking like something that might be good for you go on and hold her till the screaming is gone go on believe her when she tells you nothing's wrong but I'm the only one who walked across the fire for you and I'm the only one who will drown in my desire for you it's only fear that makes you run the demons that you're hiding from when all your promises have gone I'm the only one [Vocalizing.]
[Applause.]
- Very good.
- Thank you.
That's the most passionate I've ever seen you.
What were you thinking about when you sang that song? Um, I don't know.
So tell me about your week.
If you could have picked somebody to be in the lesson, who would you be? I don't know.
I don't know.
That's a good question.
The repetition of your indecisiveness and your lack of passion is the thing that worries me the most.
Our challenge is to write a role for somebody, and when you keep butting up against "I don't know.
Maybe.
" I can't even imagine what that character would be.
Isgleesomething that you want, or is just being a singer and a performer something that you want even more than that? I know that I want to be here, and I know that I want to be on glee.
It's just, when I walked into this situation and realized that everyone here wants it as bad as I do, it scared me.
Because I don't wanna set myself up with hope, and then get it, like, chopped down.
But you did a great job tonight.
- Thank you.
- Thank you.
Who's next, Abraham? Abraham as bowie I thought was funny.
He is like bowie in that he's androgynous.
And I think people would like that about him.
I completely agree.
But he did even admit that just even bringing up the word androgynous to him in the studio sent him into a tailspin.
We gotta talk about that.
'Cause I think he feels everything is a sexual threat, this kid.
Exexactly.
Hello, lovelies, my name is Abraham.
And I'll be singing stereo hearts by gym class heroes and Adam levine.
Love him.
Okay, hit it.
My heart's a stereo beats for you, so listen close hear my thoughts in every note ooh make me your radio turn me up when you feel low melody was meant for you sing along to my stereo if I was just another dusty record on the shelf would you go ahead and play me like everybody else? if I asked you to scratch my back could you manage that? like yeah yeah check it check it ooh, can you handle that? if I could hold you right in my arms I will go on this show I will go go go and I will keep goin' 'cause I keep runnin' and I keep flyin' and I keep soarin' ho my heart's a stereo it beats for you so listen close hear my thoughts in every note ooh sing make me your radio turn me up when you feel low melody was made for you sing along to my stereo oh oh oh oh oh oh to my stereo oh oh oh oh sing along to my stereo Thank you.
[Applause.]
You're a good little performer there, Abraham.
Thank you.
You're an awesome person too, Ryan.
Yeah.
[Laughter.]
I love you so much.
I come here and I see you in your beautiful little hat, and I'm just like, "hello.
" Oh, my gosh.
You really like to suck up.
You're not getting any points for the flattery.
Let's strip it down.
I wanna really keep it real from you for a moment.
I want you to drop the diva.
Because I don't know what's real about you and what's fake.
Talking to Nikki about this week, when you heard the word "androgynous," you were upset.
For some reason, that word, like, at that moment, brought up so many Things.
Like, I got bullied so much growing up.
I would pushed around or, like, vandalism.
They would write like, "little yellow faggot.
" And for some reason, that word surfaced all of that in me.
To me, your androgyny and the fact that you are a shapeshifter is the very reason why I think you could become a star.
After the studio, I was like, "I don't wanna be scared anymore.
"Like, I'm gonna go, have that freaking "lightning bolt across my face, work those platform shoes.
" I'm not scared anymore.
Like, I don't care how many people watch this show and they're like, "oh, my God, he's so effeminate.
Oh, my God.
Is he gay? Is he not?" Like, I am who I am.
And I believe in that now.
So why are you in the bottom three in your estimation? I think that, um [Sniffling.]
I let my fear, like, paralyze me for a few moments.
There you go.
That's what I'm talking about.
So next week, if you're lucky enough to come back, just stop being afraid.
Okay, thanks.
Thanks to you.
[Crying.]
When Abraham was talking at the end, that is the Abraham we've been seeing more and more, a real person.
A real person.
Well, that's the thing, is he's lovely when he's real.
Okay, why is Lily in the bottom three? Lily had an amazing week with theatricality.
It is right in her wheelhouse.
But when it came to the video, she was the only one that didn't create any kind of a character.
She was still Lily having fun.
Okay.
My name is Lily mae harrington, and I will be singing someone like you by Adele.
[Piano playing.]
I heard that you're settled down that you've found a girl and you're married now I heard that your dreams came true I guess she gave you things I didn't give to you never mind, I'll find someone like you I wish nothing but the best for you two don't forget me I beg I remember you said sometimes it lasts in love but sometimes it hurts instead never mind, I'll find someone like you I wish nothing but the best for you two don't forget me I beg I remember you said sometimes it lasts in love but sometimes it hurts instead Thank you.
[Applause.]
Very nice.
I was fascinated by that performance because I thought when you were doing that, you acted a character.
I liked that.
I did not see that this week on the video performance, which is why you're in the bottom three tonight.
I think I'm just confused on what I'm portraying.
Well, I-I have to argue with you.
I think the lesson this week was incredibly clear.
I think the lesson was to be theatrical.
It was to lose yourself in the personas.
I think on that note especially, I was given conflicting direction.
At choreography, I specifically asked that.
So it's his fault? No, I'm not saying it's his fault.
Oh, yes, and I said you have to be a character.
You don't have to be exactly that character.
But it is choosing something.
Yes, but cyndi lauper's very similar to who I am.
I just simply don't agree with you.
I don't think that you are like cyndi lauper.
And you keep coming out here every week with excuses.
And at a certain point, it's not interesting.
It's just not.
The reason I keep fighting with all of you so much is because I want this so bad.
[Crying.]
And, like, my way of looking at it is, like, I've always had to fight.
I've always had to be like, "no, look at me.
" Like, I'm as good as every other girl here.
Like, just because I'm 240 pounds, like, I can act my way out of a [Bleep.]
box.
Like, I can I know I can.
You give me a scene, and I will [Bleep.]
do it.
I swear to God.
And I will do it well.
Forget the "yes, but," if you come back.
Thanks.
The thing that you cannot deny from her is that she has ambition, which I like.
I feel like I've come a long way as a performer and as a person.
It's hard to hear that Ryan hasn't seen what he wants to see.
I think the positive for me about Nellie is that you root for her.
I think the negative is I don't think she wants it enough.
I think young people would relate to her.
I do.
I feel like I've, you know, done so much.
And for it to be like, "but you don't really want it," is, like, incredibly frustrating.
Abraham, I think he is incredibly bold.
And I think he's incredibly fearful.
So it's sort of like when you split the difference, you're like, "what?" I need to be proud of who I am.
Like, I can't let what the past or what people are gonna say about me, you know? And what about Lily? She's grown immensely.
She's a very exuberant personality.
And she sort of sucks all the oxygen out of a room.
And that's her thing.
You know, there's still so much, like, fight in me.
But sometimes it's just not the right thing to do.
At this point, the only people should move forward are people who I feel honestly have a chance to win.
It's hard to hear that Ryan hasn't seen what he wants to see.
I have a feeling more than ever right now that I am gonna be going home more than I ever have before.
[Sniffling.]
We love you, lillers.
[Sighs.]
Okay, guys.
The list is up, so go take a look.
[Sighs.]
I've been going back and forth between I'm going home and I don't wanna go home.
And I shouldn't go home.
And I'm not going home, like, and everything.
At the same time, it's hard to think that I could be going home.
I don't wanna leave at all.
I don't think I deserve to leave.
My heart is pounding because I'm not ready to leave yet.
I need to be here.
I have so much more to give.
[Crying.]
[Gasps.]
Oh, my God.
[Crying.]
[Crying.]
Ah ah [Sniffling.]
Ah ah I'm walking away with a new sense of pride in what I do and what I can do.
I'm ready to be confident with what I am.
I've grown to be best friends with so many of the people in the house.
I don't wanna go home.
But, um, I'm still glad for the experience.
Bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah Ah ah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah ah ah - nothing you can say - Nothing you can say - nothing you can do - Nothing you can do there's no other way when it comes to the truth so keep holding on 'cause you know we'll make it through make it through On the next Glee Project The entire music video is going to be one single shot.
Ooh.
So if any one of you messes up your part, you'll all have to start over.
I will hate the bitch that keeps messing up.
[Grunts.]
[Coughs.]
- Why can't I get it? - What the hell? Don't worry about anything.
Stop thinking about it.
Just believe it in here.
And believe it in here.
Come on, please.
Narrator: For more information on the Glee Project, go to oxygen.
com.
