[Dwayne] Tonight
we start the search
for two beasts from the East.
-Guys, I'm ready to go.
-[laughter]
[Dwayne] Whoa!
A DJ, a monster truck driver,
an army nurse,
and a small-town school teacher
I'm country strong.
[chanting] Country strong, Country Strong!
[Dwayne] give it their all
in the Titan Arena.
[Alex] Oh!
Wow.
[Alex] Oh, my goodness gracious!
This might set a record.
They're competing for a chance to face
the final two from my team
of world-class athletes.
UFC badass Tyron Woodley
and snowboarding Olympic gold medalist
who's quite the badass herself,
Hannah Teter.
[cheering, applause]
My Titans are ready to go,
and so are the competitors.
This is gonna be good, so good.
Let The Titan Games begin!
[cheering, applause]
[indistinct conversations]
[man] Stand by, here we go.
-It's, like, real.
-I know.
[upbeat electronic music playing]
[screams]
My name is Cynthia Gauthier,
and I'm from Quebec, Canada.
French Canadian.
[rock music playing]
And I'm a professional
monster truck driver.
To drive the monster truck,
you have to be really fit,
so I love to do intense workout
like boxing, lifting weight.
Each muscle have a purpose.
I mean, we're getting
all those impact in the cab.
We're the only sport that actually crash
in purpose sometime
to have those wild moments.
I have a crazy life.
I travel a lot,
but family is always first for me.
Hello! [chuckles]
[in French] Hey, how are you?
[in French] I'm almost up.
I'm a bit nervous but I'm excited.
[in English] Me and my dad
are super close.
I mean, I spend so many time
with him when I was young.
My dad really loved just watching racing.
Anything with an engine,
my dad would bring me,
and I was there with him
on the side of the track,
and I fell in love with the sport,
and everything happened from there.
[in French] Good luck.
We're with you in spirit!
[in French] [chuckles] Thanks!
You're with me in my heart.

[Cynthia chuckles]
[in English] I'm an adrenaline junkie.
I'm fearless, and I'm gonna bring that
in this arena for that victory.
I'm ready.
My name is Haley Johnson.
I'm 25 years old.
I'm a first lieutenant in the Army,
and I'm an active duty registered nurse.
-["Into The Unknown" playing]
-Being part of ROTC in the military
really did give me opportunities
that I thought that I would never have.
[Haley] I grew up very poor.
[Haley] My dad made
less than $50,000 a year
supporting five kids
and a stay-at-home wife.
When I was young, we actually
lived in a gas station
that my dad was able to fix up
and make livable.
Watching my dad work so hard
just made me wanna be more.
It gave me that initial drive
that I needed to break
that cycle of poverty
that we had been stuck in for so long.
[Haley] I'm a first-generation
college graduate.
My parents being able to watch me walk
-It was definitely special.
-[music ends]
In September, out of nowhere,
my dad got sick.
[melancholic music playing]
They did a brain scan,
and they found a tumor.
The progression of his cancer
was so aggressive
that within 3 1/2 months, he passed away.
[sniffles]
It was really hard
how sick and how fast
and how out of the blue it was.
I just wish that he could be here.
Some people don't know what their why is.
My dad is my why.
I just wanna make him proud.
-[cheering, applause]
-[upbeat music playing]
[Cari] And Haley Johnson definitely
feeling the weight of this moment,
ready to make her father proud.
Hey, everyone, Cari Champion coming to you
with the king of the call,
that's my guy Alex "Goldenboy" Mendez.
For their first challenge,
we're gonna see how fast
Haley and Cynthia can slide
to the side on Chain Linked.
See what I did there?
It's a race across six fences
hanging 10 feet in the air.
Both athletes have to share the first four
as they scramble sideways,
but the fifth section is too far to reach,
so they have to crank it closer,
then leap.
The first one to reach the victory chain
grabs the win.
[dramatic music playing]
Only on The Titan Games
a registered US Army nurse
takes on a monster truck driver.
Two unique professions coming
from two amazing athletes,
but only one of you will earn
the right to take on my Titan,
Olympic gold medalist Hannah Teter.
Haley, Cynthia, this is Chain Linked.
[intense music playing]
[Alex] Haley in the blue.
Cynthia in the red.
This our twisted version
of the 100-meter dash
we call Chain Linked.
[Cari] And they're moving quickly.
Let's go, ladies!
-[Haley grunts]
-[Cari] Haley is already taking off.
All those years climbing ropes and fences
during her ROTC training is paying off
in the Titan Arena.
[Alex] Right now, it is Haley
getting onto that platform.
Step one complete.
Step two is to now crank those chains back
because you need that next fence
in order for you to climb
to the victory chain
and win this game,
but Cynthia's gonna be right behind her.
Come on!
[Cari] Both of these women's
driving force is their father.
Cynthia's dad
is her best friend and motivator,
and for Haley,
her dad was her inspiration.
She saw his hard work
and dedication to his family,
and it drives her
to be her best every day.
[dramatic music playing]
[Alex] Haley able
to knock down the wall first.
She has to make the leap of faith.
Come on, Haley, let's go!
[Cari] Wait, what's happening?
[Alex] Haley seems unsure about that jump.
Let's go, Haley!
[Alex] Haley has to decide
because now Cynthia has gained on her!
[audience] Oh!
[Alex] And Cynthia makes the leap!
No fear from the daredevil.
She has the lead.
And now Haley finally makes the jump!
Cynthia, the monster truck driver,
looking to stun us all
here in the Titan Arena.
[Cari] Haley needs to kick it
into high gear now, Goldenboy.
This is gonna be close.
And just like that,
Haley's taken back the lead!
[cheering, applause]
Wow.
[Alex] These two women have brought it all
here in the arena,
and one final pull,
and that's gonna do it!
-[cheering, applause]
-[upbeat music playing]
[Alex] Haley Johnson is your winner.
[Cari] Haley, extremely motivated.
She wanted to compete to honor
the memory of her father,
and now she has her first win
here in the Titan Arena.
-Great job.
-[Haley] Thank you.
-[Dwayne] Congratulations.
-[Haley] Thank you.
She's got some moves.
[Alex] But it's not over for Cynthia.
She will get another shot
to even the score in the next battle.
[Cari] The sisterhood that we're seeing
between these athletes
that are competing in this arena,
so inspiring.

It was definitely back
and forth for a little bit.
Haley got that one,
but I'm getting the next round,

My name's Will Sutton.
I'm 26 years old
from Trenton, North Carolina,
and I am a high school
agriculture teacher.
[rock music playing]
When I was preparing for The Titan Games,
I was like,
"Man, what is a strong haircut?"
'Cause, you know,
you're only as strong as your hair.
My students said, "Do a mullet."
It's gonna really give me
that extra burst.
It's business in the front,
party in the back.
That's right.
I love being a teacher.
The best part about going in every day
is keeping up with the newest trends.
I think I'll be the coolest teacher.
I've already got voted funniest teacher
at Croatan High School.
I don't know
if it's 'cause I'm funny looking
or I'm funny.
[laughs]
[rooster crowing]
[Will] I grew up on a small family farm.
I've got a ton of experience
lifting things.
At an early age, lifting bags of feed,
throwing hay bales around
Working with the cows
and working with the horses,
working with the pigs, you know,
you always having to do something
with lifting weights.
When people look at me, they might
"Oh, he's not that big," you know?
"Kind of chunky," but, um,
what they don't know
is that I'm country strong.
People that are country strong,
they might not have veins
popping out they eyeballs and so forth,
but you actually get 'em in there
and they're competing and lifting
against other people,
and they're like,
"Oh, gosh, they are strong."
They're country strong,
and they're just as strong as gym strong.
I'm Kareem Brinson, 34,
from Howell, New Jersey.
I'm also known as DJ Reem.
I am a DJ, for over 20 years.
I'm forever grateful that I can
turn my passion into a business.
But it wasn't always easy.
As a very up and coming DJ,
I had to do a lot of hustling.
You know, I'm done
with an event at 3:00 a.m.,
and I'm going, grab some fast food
at 4:00 a.m. three to four nights a week.
Next thing I know,
you know, I'm ballooning up
to close to 300 pounds.
I didn't wanna be that guy
who had diabetes
at an early age.
The day after my 28th birthday,
I immediately went to sign up to the gym.
The next thing you know,
I lost close to 100 pounds.
[upbeat music playing]
As a DJ, we live those night-life hours,
but then I wake up early in the morning,
get my fitness in
in the midst of still being
a husband and a father.
[laughs]
[Kareem] My daughter
is in love with working out
side-by-side with her daddy.
She doesn't know it,
but she keeps me going.
She keeps me motivated a lot. [sniffles]
To me, it does not matter where you start.
It's about how you finish.
When I walk into that Titan Arena,
I am going to put my game face on
and channel that energy
into becoming the next Titan.
[cheering, applause]
Kareem, Will, there's a lot
riding on this challenge.
It's gonna involve strength,
stamina, strategy,
and just the right amount of suffering,
so let the madness begin
on Nuts and Bolts.
[intense music playing]
[Alex] You got Kareem in the blue
and Will in the red.
Those walls are loaded down
with nearly 2,000 pounds of weight.
You have to unscrew the caps,
strip off the weights,
and when you think it's light enough,
run to the other side
and pull the wall down.
First one to pull the victory chain
takes the win.
[grunts]
[Alex] These two men are actually
right next to each other, neck and neck.
Will Sutton's going for the rope?
There's over 1,000 pounds
left on that wall!
Can he bring that wall down,
and put Trenton,
North Carolina on the map?
And he's giving it everything he has.
[dramatic music playing]
-[audience groan]
-[Alex] But he can't get it to budge.
He's gotta strip off more weight.
You went too soon.
Gotta be patient.
[Alex] On the other side, Kareem continues
-to peel away those weights.
-Whoa!
[Alex] He's got 700 pounds left
on his wall.
Will's trying to play catch up,
but Kareem's not slowing down,
already stripping down his stack.
Go, Kareem!
[Alex] Now Kareem's making his way
to the rope.
[Cari] I can't take it. I cannot take it.
[Alex] Both competitors
are gonna be going for the wall!
Kareem Brinson is right there!
And he brings it down.
Now he just needs to grab
the victory chain.
[dramatic music playing]
[upbeat music playing]
[Alex] You're gonna be fist pumping
in Jersey tonight,
because Kareem Brinson is your winner.
Yay! [laughs]
Yes!
Whoo-hoo! Whoo-hoo!
[Cari] Kareem's wife and daughter.
They're expecting another little girl.
He does it for them.
That's the love that we all want, right
-[Alex] Beautiful, beautiful.
-[Cari] At the end of the day.

out-battles the teacher
from North Carolina.
One more win,
and he'll head to Mount Olympus
to face tonight's Titan,

He'll have to win
the next battle to stay alive
and force a tiebreaker.

and see if we can't battle back.

During Chain Linked,
when it came to the leaping
onto the fence,
I knew that my dad was with me,
and I had to jump.
[Haley] I definitely feel
like he's here today.
Just makes me wanna go that much harder,
and I'm gonna continue
to make my dad proud.
[Cynthia] It's 0-1 right now,
but you know what?
Nothing came easy for me.
I always have to work so hard
to get where I am right now.
[Alex] These two women have brought
it all here in the arena!
I had a hard start, but I'm not giving up.
I'm gonna fight like a monster out there.
[cheering, applause]
[Alex] So Haley needs one more win
to face DJ's Titan,
snowboarding champion
Hannah Teter on Mount Olympus.

For the monster trucker,
it's time to go pedal to the metal.
Haley out of the gate quickly,
locking in her first piston.
[Dwayne] Haley's fast.
[Alex] Cynthia answers back!
Each athlete has one piston locked in.
But look at Haley Johnson. She is moving!
[Cari] This army registered nurse
is a beast.
[grunts]
[Alex] Wow, Haley has already
completed two pistons.
She's moving to the final gold piston!
If she locks it in,
she goes to Mount Olympus.
[cheering]
[Alex] Cynthia struggling to keep pace,
but not giving up.
[Cari] She needs to hit those pistons
in the dead center,
but Cynthia's hitting too high,
and it's barely moving.
[dramatic music playing]
[Alex] Can Haley end this one right here
and not give Cynthia an opportunity
to mount an offense?
This might set a record.
[dramatic music playing]
-[Alex] And that is gonna do it!

for our monster truck driver,

Hannah Teter on Mount Olympus.
I feel ready, but Haley's
looking super good as well,
so it's gonna be an insane match.
-[dramatic music playing]
-[exhaling sharply]

That's how a champion gets ready,
right there.

[chuckles]

what's about to happen,

Gentlemen, it's do or die,
so I suggest you do
on Herculean Pull.
[intense music playing]

The objective, go after those silver poles
that weigh 100 pounds,
and then it's a tug of war
to take on that golden pole
and rip it away
from your opponent's hands.
[Cari] Both guys right now, Goldenboy,
are flying
-through this challenge.

[Kareem grunts]
[Alex] It's Kareem who's going up first.
Can he get an advantage?
But he slips on that pyramid.
[dramatic music playing]

some defense here
just trying to prevent Will
who is just tugging away
-at that golden pole.

as he possibly can!
-[Will grunts]
-[Alex] And Will Sutton with a big pull!

[Will grunts]

[Dwayne] He's a deceptive looking man.
[Cari] You are right about that.
[chuckles]
It's not a knock,
but you look at Will Sutton,
and you think,
"Oh, I think he's gonna do okay."
And then, all of a sudden,
he just dominates everything.
[Cari] He's a high school teacher.
He's out here winning.
Yes. Look, look at [laughs]

[Haley] I definitely feel like my dad was
all around me both challenges,
and he's always giving me
that little extra push that I needed.
I'm gonna channel all the passion
and drive that he's instilled in me,
and win for him,
cause I know he can't be here.
[Haley] Dwayne Johnson handpicked Hannah
because she is one of the best
at what she does.
She's a gold medalist,
so I'm gonna have to work
just that much harder to prove myself.
[dramatic music playing]
[Dwayne] One of the best snowboarders
on the planet.
She's won Olympic gold, X Games gold.
Hell, Ben & Jerry's even named
an ice cream after her,
but this is no flavor of the month.
She is a Titan. Hannah Teter.

[Hannah] I'm used to being
on top of a mountain,
so Mount Olympus just feels right at home.
You think these athletes
are getting past me?
[softly] Nope.
[dramatic music playing]
Hannah is a badass
who has explosive power.
Not only was she able
to compete at the Olympics,
but win gold and silver.
When you're on the mountain, you look fear
and you look danger in the eyes,
and you say, "Bring it,"
and that's what Hannah does.
It's very deceiving
because she's on the smaller side,
but she is a package of dynamite.
To be a snowboarder,
you just have to be fit all-around.
Like, everything needs to be strong.
I was one of the first girls
to do a frontside 900.
That's 2 1/2 rotations.
My motto is just dream big
and use your dreams to push yourself
'cause nothing's ever too big.
I'm gonna approach the course
like it's a big old snowboard trick
and just lay it down clean
all the way up until the end,
and then you just
[clicks tongue] peace, Haley.
I've been in full beast mode to get ready,
so look out.
This Titan's coming, Mount Olympus.
[electricity crackles]
[cheering, applause]
[Alex] And now DJ's handpicked Titan,
Hannah Teter,
is ready for her first run
on Mount Olympus.
She's looking to join the Titan
from the West, Margaux Alvarez,
and our Titan from the Central region,
Dani Speegle,
in the championship.
Each athlete has to charge up,
over, and down the course.
It takes strength, speed, and stamina,
but most of all the iron will
to never surrender.
It's time to put two more athletes
to DJ's ultimate test, Mount Olympus.
[Dwayne] Haley has some momentum
coming off two straight wins,
but as a gold medal Olympic snowboarder,
Hannah knows all about momentum.
It can carry you
