Being Human (US) s02e10 Episode Script

Dream Reaper

(Sally):Previously on Being Human We're sort of seeing each other.
So when it came down to it, you'd rather die every single day than date me.
The longer a ghost circles the drain, crazier a ghost.
You killed all of them! I didn't do anything.
It was him! Sally! There is no Reaper.
Don't you get it, Sally? You are me.
You killed them all yourself.
(Grunting) (Groaning) - Sally! - No! (Medium):Salt binds the spirit to the house.
Guys, let me out.
(Deep voice): I said let me out of here! We'd all like to think that we're strong, that we're capable of solving our own problems.
Sally! Sally! - Sally! - Yeah, not helping.
What's the non-corporeal equivalent to cold water in the face? I don't know.
She's out cold.
Man, you've been around never dealt with a catatonic ghost? I am not that old! Oh, look, I'm a vampire.
I'm not a ghost whisperer.
I've never seen an9thing like this.
(Sally):We say to ourselves: "I can do this.
"I will conquer this rough patch "and emerge a more confident, a more accomplished me.
" Where do you think she is right now? (Birds chirping) Sometimes you're right.
(Laughing) Sometimes all it takes is focus, direction and your own will to make it through.
No, Mom, I really don't need details.
Thank you.
But to solve the problem, you first have to acknowledge that it exists.
And sometimes, your most challenging obstacle isn't circumstance, isn't some external force or another person.
It's you.
And in the end, most of us don't have that strength to face that music I smell bacon.
to admit that we're flawed.
And then you're stuck.
Eggs under red.
Mmm! Your favourite.
Mmm! You can't save yourself if you don't know the danger you're in.
(Car honking) How do we fix this? I don't know.
Are we gonna brainstorm or are we giving up on her? That's not what I mean.
I get it.
In a pinch, you do what you gotta do.
We snap her neck, call in the cleaners.
We could drag her to the woods, tie her to a tree, beat her to a pulp, break her arms.
- We're going there? - Yeah.
Good! I can understand the hostility.
I got all this skin on my face, after all.
It must be hard to talk to somebody with all this skin on their face.
Hold on! What are we doing? I don't know.
I'm just-- I'm just extra testy right now.
- It's the full moon tonight.
- Yeah.
That's not the only reason I'm pissed off! OK! Yeah.
I know, I know.
(Sighing) It's been over 24 hours since I last drank live.
And live, that's worse or better than It's pretty serious withdrawal, yeah.
Well, you need to go find someone-- - I'm not going to do that! We need help.
Zoe.
She's the only ghost wrangler I can think of.
And Sally just shredded her boyfriend.
Yeah, I've been thinking about that.
- Maybe leave that part out.
- Yeah.
When you make that plea to save Sally Yeah.
just omit that entirely.
(Door closing) (Siren) (Elevator bell dings) Zoe! (Grunting) Did you just give blood? (Chuckles) Um, I gotta talk to you about Sally.
Sally? Sally, who eviscerated an entire ghost support group? I don't think so.
What? What were you talking about? No! Uh, OK, listen to me.
Um, Sally is very, very sick, and we think that you're the only hope that she's got.
Please just listen.
(Woman on stereo): Sing a song Sing it loud Aw! Friggin' water heater! Reason 110 we need to move out of this house.
I will never understand why you're so attached to this place.
(Sighing) I've just I've always felt I don't know right here.
But we could do so much better.
This is what happens, Sally.
People fall in love.
Poof! The ring comes.
They get central heating, if it actually works.
Listen, we've got the engagement party this weekend.
(Giggles) All of our friends will be here.
We could make it a dual celebration.
(Laughing) Moving on? Moving out.
Think about it? Light, light, lighter You can be outside Tonight Is bright, bright, brighter Bright, bright, brighter I know I'm risking a total repeat of the Nora debacle, but can you blame me? I mean, Julia represents everything that I thought I'd never have.
And honestly-- I mean, can we be honest here? She is way hotter than when I left.
(Door opening) And we're back? Did you find her? Oh, thank God! Zoe, welcome.
All right.
Start from the beginning.
Uh, OK, well, we came home and Sally was different, like something else had taken over.
And then she goes all Linda Blair hell spawn on us and -- I don't think I'm exaggerating here -- tries to kill us like you do when you're a hell spawn.
Right, so we dispersed her with a fire iron, she pops up here on the landing where she died, and here we are, lights out.
Idiot.
Excuse me? Oh, not you.
Well, sort of you, but mostly me.
I should've seen this coming.
I mean, the first time Sally mentioned the Reaper-- - Reaper? Wt? Did I miss something? Yeah, Sally thought that there was a reaper sent to kill her when she passed up her door.
And en the reaper offered her a job.
It was a thing.
The shadow guy from her dream door? Yeah, I think the Reaper is, like, her alter.
I mean, everything he's supposed to stand for, balancing the universe, judgement She thought she tipped the scales when she passed up her door? I mean, she was waiting for the worst.
And then she made it happen.
Good.
All right.
We fight back.
OK, what if this Reaper wins and we can't pull Sally out of this? If the Reaper wins I think that means he wins.
He takes over Sally as we know her and when she wakes up, it wouldn't be her anymore.
(Sighing) But we can talk to her.
Maybe she can hear us.
She can't hear me.
I've been talking to her all day.
Oh, come on, Justin.
You met her at a Dane Cook show.
She's your plus one? Kill me.
(Scoffs) ( Chiming ) Hmm! (Beeping) (Ding) (Dinging) OK, Aidan.
Freaking me out a little here.
Wrong Sally, son.
(Beeping) ( Chiming ) Yeah, no.
( Chiming ) Bye, weirdo.
( Chiming ) Is this good? She's talking back.
We're reaching her.
Aidan, keep talking.
Sally, we're here for you.
Can you hear us? Quit, quit, quit What the hell? (Keyboard clicking) Ah! Oh my god! Shhh! Scott, you scared the crap out of me! It's OK! Oh It's OK.
What's wrong? This guy online just kept sending me messages.
I quit chat and I just shut it down and it just kept coming back.
It's probably just a virus.
I'll take it to my guy at work.
Don't worry.
I'll fix it, babe.
(Slamming) (Josh): Did she just lock us in? Are you kidding me? (Grunting) You see this? The whole house is sealed shut.
Uh, she-- He-- They-- They locked us in.
Why? What did we do? I don't know! Really, Sally? Really? You know it's past 4:00.
- I know.
Full moon's up in - Keep your voice down.
It's a little bit-- - Annoying? Like nails on chalkboard? You know what else is annoying? There is a human being walking around upstairs who has no idea that if we're not out of here, she's dinner.
Don't you think you're being a touch dramatic? You are not credible right now! Incidentally, when were you planning on letting me in on this Reaper situation? Our friend gets recruited to be a supernatural assassin, you figure, keep Josh in the dark.
Sally didn't want you involved.
All this stuff with Nora, she thought you couldn't handle it.
Oh, but you can? What about you and any of your behaviour in the last several months suggests that you can handle it? - Obviously I didn't, so-- - You can't think straight? Because you haven't killed anyone recently.
Let's make something clear.
Your hands aren't exactly clean either.
I checked all the windows upstairs.
Nothing's moving or breaking.
It-it-- I'm sure it'll pass.
It's just Sally being Sally.
Silly Sally.
So silly.
- What? We're screwed! - Thank you, I-- - You've seen this before, right? She'll snap out of this? Not necessarily.
And i-i-if she doesn't, what's your plan? You can't just shack up with a ghost shredder.
- You'd have to-- - Exorcize her? You can't let her, that, run free.
I mean, even if you exorcize her, she'd still be out there, just in a different place.
Unless we can figure out how to shred-- - No, no! Absolutely not.
There's something we can try.
(Woman 1 on TV):What is with you, anyway? Wow, you murdered that bowl.
Where are you going? (Man 1): What the hell What you gonna do about it? (Chuckles) (Woman 2):To better my life in the streets.
With extra cheesy powder, please! (Woman 3): I was expecting someone (Man 2): Today's my birthday.
Today's not your birthday, Andrew.
I won't stay long.
I promise.
Fine! (Aidan, echoing): You seen this before, right? (Josh, echoing): Sally? (Footsteps) (Josh talking, indistinct) I've been talking to her all day.
(Zoe): Maybe she can hear us.
Sally was We're screwed! We can talk to her.
Hello? (Aidan): Sally, we're here for you! (Josh): Sally, can you hear me? (Josh and Aidan): Sally! Sally! (Aidan):We're here for you! Can you hear us? - Sally, can you hear me? - Sally! She thought she tipped the scales What's the non-corporeal Who are you? What do you want? (Voices talking, indistinct) - Aaah! - Whoa, whoa! (Panting) Are you OK? Let's get you upstairs.
It started yesterday.
(Crickets chirping) I saw something in the reflection on the toaster.
A guy.
Just for a second and then he was gone.
You think I've lost my chickens, don't you? - No.
- You do! Shhh What else? Before, the computer.
Sally, nothing was there.
I know, but there was.
(Sighing) I used to think haunted houses, the supernatural was just a bunch of crap.
(Chuckling) Then it started happening to me.
Nothing's happening to you.
What if it is? What if the house is trying to tell me something? Maybe it's a ghost.
Sally.
What? What is it, then? You tell me.
When I was 10 years old, my Dad had finally saved enough money to move us out of our dingy apartment.
He and Mom were so excited that I was heartbroken.
I lived in that place my whole life.
Are you saying that I'm 10? (Chuckles) That leaving this house is hitting me harder than I thought? And as the move got closer I became convinced that gnomes were living in the walls and the gnomes needed me to stay and be their friend.
Gnomes, yeah? (Laughing) Turns out they were just rats.
Sometimes a house is just a house.
But it felt so real.
Of course it $id.
No one can trick you better than you.
(Sighing) Get some rest.
You'll feel better in the morning.
I promise.
You're gonna do what now? I call it a mind meld.
Uh, isn't that just a little-- How? Ghosts are essentially conscious energy, right? Some people are naturally receptive to that energy.
And in rare cases, some can even tap into a conscious portion of it.
Rare, being you? Yeah.
It's super awesome being a freak.
The first time this happened, I was 14 at a slumber party.
While the other girls were experimenting with Light as a Feather, Stiff as a Board, I snuck into the laundry room with my ghost friend, Tucker.
He was 13 and had a highly active imagination.
He created this beautiful fantasy world he wanted to share with me.
It was incredible.
(Heart beating) That sounds lovely, doesn't it, Aidan? Oh, yeah.
Intense.
Melding isn't easy.
It takes a lot of practice and a lot of skill.
So you do this often? Sort of.
I mean, it's similar to how I connect human and ghost energies during reincarnation.
Oh, because that is a thing that you do.
Is there anything that we can do to help you? Just be quiet.
It takes a lot of concentration to get in.
Well, is there a world in which you don't get out? I mean, if Sally stays in, does that mean you stay in too? Maybe my conscious would, and my body would become a vegetable.
Yeah, uh, that would suck.
I don't know.
This stuff doesn't really come with instructions.
(Screeching) (Deep voice): Try it and I'll rip you to shreds! Sally.
We know you're in there.
Come back to us.
(Deep voice): She can't hear you.
(Chuckling) She won't help you.
Reaper? Just let us talk to Sally, please.
I already told you.
Sally's gone.
It's just me now.
And I'm not going anywhere.
(Laughing) Oh, daddy bird gave all the food to his tender, helpless offspring, didn't he? Not even a nibble for himself.
Look at you.
What a hot mess.
- Listen.
- Ah! It's like this.
You need to let us out of this house now.
Oh! Poor little puppy (Kissing) trapped in here all day, not even a walk.
Timing's a bitch, huh? What? No Nora to rub your tummy and give you treats and pick up after you crap on everything? No, it's Julia's turn to be ruined by you again.
Let Sally go.
Now you know how she felt, left alone here day after day.
You did this to her, not me.
I'm protecting her.
You're gonna rip each other to shreds tonight.
(Sally laughing) Just a couple more hours and you'll all be dead.
She'll finally be free of you.
- Uh, what? - This isn't real.
(Chuckling evilly) We're your friends.
Some friend you are, Aidan! Am I right, Josh? Upstairs? You can smell it, can't you, Josh? It's seeping through the wood.
No amount of scrubbing is ever gonna get it out.
Not ever.
You'll always know what he did here in your home.
Some friend you are.
OK, what the hell is she talking about? Zoe.
Sweet, awkward Zoe.
So clueless.
Tick-tock, tick-tock, tick-tock.
Oh, these boys.
So forgetful.
They forgot to tell you the catch of this rescue mission.
- Sally, please.
- DON'T CALL ME THAT! (Wind blowing) You're gonna die in here tonight.
And the best part (Chuckling) is that Nick won't be waiting for you on the other side.
(Sighing) Sally shredded him this morning.
(Laughing evilly) Ah! (Gasping) (Shower running) Oh, oh, oh, oh Oh, oh, oh, oh Come with me outside Where the sun may shine Come with me outside Where the sun may shine Hey, Sal! You almost ready? Yeah, just about! (Aidan): Zoe, please.
- You knew and you lied to me! - I know.
I'm sorry about lying.
I'm sorry about Nick.
But you can't give up on her, please.
Oh, she can rot in there! But I don't care if we're locked in.
I can wait! She'll get tired eventually.
Zoe, we can't think in eventual terms, OK? We just don't-- We don't have that kind of time.
Well, what makes your time so much more special than mine? She shredded my boyfriend! So if I don't feel like I'm in a rush to help her, then kill me.
(Crying) - I'm a werewolf.
- I'm a vampire.
What? I'm a werewolf and he's a vampire and that's how we can see ghosts.
It's like we're different countries on the same continent.
And-and if I'm not far away from here in an hour or so, you will be in mortal danger.
Mortal danger, right.
Yeah, this isn't a joke.
(Chuckling) So-so you're gonna turn into a wolf and have me for dinner.
OK, listen very carefully.
He's telling you the truth.
Oh, of course.
Of course it's the truth.
You get to be the cool vampire.
Everybody wants to be the cool vampire.
We're not making this up! You got it! I'm not making this up! (Fangs clicking) (Gasps) Holy crap! You're monsters.
Thank you.
Wow! How are you? Congratulations.
Thank you.
Hey.
Great party! ( House on stereo ) (Woman): Stars tonight Tonight On me You were right.
How's that? Tonight, having everyone here.
It just-- It does feel like the right way to say goodbye to this place.
Really? Really.
Ah! Hot! (laughing) Hot! Hot! Ow, ow! (Giggling) Oh! It's high time we left this place.
I'm so glad you see it.
(All chattering) It smells like a slaughterhouse up in your room, Aidan! None of those doors are gonna last more than 5 seconds.
The wolf's gonna smell the blood and go nuts and then he'll smell Zoe and go even more nuts! He's gonna rip through this place like it was made of cardboard! Really? You're just gonna leave Zoe there with Miss Dead by Dawn Swallow Your Soul? Go sit with her! Come on! (Josh sighing) I gotta think.
I gotta think.
(Sighing) Oh my god! (Sniffing) Hello.
I--I--I'm gonna need a power drill and some ratchet straps.
Or a chain.
Or s-something.
I'm gonna change in the friggin' fridge.
Come on! Come on! (Grunting) Aidan! Get your ass in here! (Heart pounding) (Cork pops) - Oh! - Aaah! Oh my god! Sorry.
Did I get ya? Reaper.
Here, some napkins.
Oh my god! Thank you.
No problem.
I'm sorry.
I don't think we've met.
Are you a friend of Scott's? No, Sally.
I'm your friend.
I'm Zoe.
Try to remember.
Remember Reality.
None of this is real.
You're living in a dream world and you need to wake up now.
Oh, wait.
You're-- Yeah, you're Melinda, right? You're Scott's improv friend from college.
Scott is not who you think he is.
He's dangerous, but he isn't real.
He's trying to make you forget, trying to keep you right where he wants you.
But this, this world you're living in right now, it's a lie.
OK, um, thanks for coming, but I think maybe you should leave.
No, Sally.
You need to leave.
Your friends, your real friends, Aidan and Josh, they sent me here to find you.
Aidan and-- Why are you saying those names? Because they sent me here to find you.
I don't know anybody named Aidan or Josh.
They're your roommates! You live with them in this house, in Boston, in reality.
Aidan from Boston? Yes.
Yes! Aidan from Boston.
You're dead, Sally.
You died and you're a ghost.
Right now, you're trapped in a fantasy you created.
You did things, horrible things you couldn't live with, so you escaped to this.
And it might seem easier to stay here, but I promise you, it's not.
What did I do? You killed Nick.
No.
No, that's impossible.
(Gasps) (Gasps) Nick? Sweetie, please tell me you're Scott's improv friend, because you're really freaking me out right now.
(Glass clinking) Babe! Over here.
(Nick clearing throat) He isn't real.
None of this is real.
Please remember.
Sally, wait! (Gasps) (Skin tears) Oh! Oh, God! Aidan! Stop! (Both grunting) - Are you crazy? No! - Let go! - What's wrong with you? - I need a bit more.
She's trying to save our friend! (Both grunting) If you ever get in my face again, I-- - What? You'll kill me, huh? You'll kill Zoe? You're gone, man.
You started feeding live! You murdered those 2 girls, those 2 human beings under our roof! This sacred place! Does it stop, Aidan? When does it stop? I feel like I'm the only one trying anymore, like I'm dangling off a cliff by my fingertips and you're up there stomping on them! I know! I know! Oh my god, Josh! Those 2 girls! (Sobbing) What am I supposed to do, Josh? What am I supposed to do? I can't survive without blood.
I need it.
Everything just slipped out of my control.
I thought that I could be different.
I thought that I could be better, but I can't.
I just can't.
(Sobbing) What are you doing? I'm holding on for all of us.
Go ahead.
(Sniffling) Do it.
I can't.
Kind of out on a limb here.
Vampires don't drink werewolves.
- Why? - I don't know! Because of the smell! - Come on! - I always took it as a warning.
Either way, it's just something we don't do, we don't ever do, ever! If this is one of those vampire Jim Crow laws, you need to get over it.
I have blood, you need blood, and Zoe's not an option, OK? - Listen to me.
- OK.
I'm strong now, right? I can handle it.
You need it.
You said so yourself.
(Sighing) Just do it, man.
Do it.
(Sniffs) Just do it before I change my mind.
(Sighing) Mm-hmm.
Oh! No.
- Oh, come on! - Just give me a minute! I'm gonna change my mind! (Fangs click) (Both groan) OK.
(Morning) (Slurping) Like, it just-- It tastes different.
Diff-different how? Oh, you know what? I just ate a bunch of asparagus.
Aaah! (Groaning) Oh, I need to go! - What? - Oh my god! You-you OK? Is it bad? It was disgusting.
- No! No, no, no! - It's disgusting.
It's good! It's good! (Sighing) It's too good.
Whoo! It's, uh Wow! Oh-ho-ho! I feel, like, this tingling.
It's just all over, everywhere! So we're glad we drank me.
Weird thing is I barely even touched you.
- Yep! - That's just-- Whoo! Huh! (Sighing) - You all right? - Yeah.
You gonna be OK? (Coughing) You OK? (Coughing) Aidan? (Retching) Aidan? Oh my god! Aidan, Aidan! Are you OK, man? Aidan, Aidan, Aidan! Breathe, breathe, breathe Aidan? (Choking) Aidan, Aidan Scotty, boy! How long have we been friends? Since you stole my Lando Calrissian action figure and blamed it on the fat kid.
(All chuckling) So about a year then? (All laughing) Look, don't worry.
I'll save the really embarrassing stuff for the wedding toast.
(Zoe): You're dead, Sally.
You died and you're a ghost.
I guess setting you two up was the right call, huh? (Guests chuckling) He didn't introduce us.
the look in his eyes after the first date.
I have never seen you fall so hard so fast Nick never knew Scott.
(Nick): Here we are, right? He couldn't have.
(Nick talking, indistinct) He died.
Nick drowned.
(Coughing) Excuse me.
(Gasping) That's it, Sally! You're remembering! Keep going! (Gasps) Back down, bitch! Scott, no! What are you doing? (Gasping) Aidan, just breathe.
Just breathe.
Come on, man.
(Groaning) You're OK! (Screaming) (All groaning) No! No! (Aidan screaming) (Screaming) Where is everyone? You weren't feeling well.
I sent them all home.
That's a lie.
You're in charge here.
Not him.
Snap out of it! Don't listen to her.
She's crazy.
We can help you, Sally.
But you have to wake up.
You can do this.
This is where you belong, Sally.
With me.
Only I understand you, who've you become.
No! Look harder.
(Aidan choking) Aidan, hold up! Breathe, breathe, breathe (Whispering) Oh my god! Your friends need you, Sally.
We need you to come back or we're all gonna die.
None of that matters anymore.
That other place, it's a miserable world, and you were miserable in it.
I just want you to be happy.
You're happy (ere, aren't you? Forget that place you came from and stay here with me.
But my friends Aren't here, are they? I'm here.
It's a full moon.
Sally, we're trapped in the house.
Aidan is starving.
We're all gonna die if you don't come back.
It doesn't matter.
Yes, it does! I'm not supposed to be living this life.
I've already lived.
And then I died.
Sally, no.
Don't leave me.
You can't be without me.
I'll never let you go.
(Whispering): I need to wake up.
There's only one way I know how.
Oh God Sally.
(Panting) Josh.
Josh, it's getting dark.
The moon.
What are you still doing here? I wanted to make sure that you were.
.
you.
Are you? I'm here.
But you need to go.
Please.
If I could hug you I would.
I'm really, really sorry about this, but I--I-- - Go.
- Are you OK? - Yeah.
(Gasps) (Breathing unevenly) (Whispering): You look like hell! (Coughs, sniffles) You look better.
I'm sorry for what we had to do.
What was it like in there? Um (Sighing) It seemed good at first.
But I figure if I have to shack up with a monster, I'd rather it be you guys.
(Chuckling) (Coughing) (Footsteps) Zoe.
(Groans) I'm OK.
OK, well, I--I gotta lay down.
(Sighing) Thank you for helping me.
I know you didn't want to and I don't blame you.
You took away the only person who meant something to me.
I know, but-- - No, you really don't.
So let's just get this straight right now.
I will never forgive you for what you did.
Never.
(Door closing) Not far It's not far enough Not far It's not far enough Is this far? Much too far It wasn't that That I was thinking of I want you gone.
I thought I made that clear.
It's not that simple.
But this is all in my head.
And I can't leave.
I'm a part of you.
So now, we wait.
For what? For you to slip.
And when you fall the only one left to catch you will be me.
