Scorpion (2014) s02e17 Episode Script
Adaptation
1 (grunts) TOBY (mimicking): My name's Walter O'Brien.
I have the fourth highest IQ ever recorded, 197.
Einstein's was 160.
(grunts tauntingly) Yes, they're both facts.
But what is he saying? Mm-hmm.
I'm saying you have a superiority complex.
But I am superior.
Ah, ah, ah, ah, ah.
If you want your feelings to be felt, you must use the felt.
My name is Toby, I went to Harvard.
I chase Happy Quinn around like a schoolboy.
I probably wear this hat in the shower.
You see? Just attacks the hat.
Uh, forget the hat, the hat is stupid.
Who's Happy Quinn? Walter might have some unconscious concerns about her to bring her up now.
No, very conscious.
His obsession with her affects his efficacy.
She's not She's a friend, friend from work.
(buzzing) What the hell is that? That's my nuttin' button.
When you say something that's ânuttin'â but a lie (buzzing) I didn't lie.
(buzzing) Lie by omission.
You said âfriendâ twice, back-to-back.
Repetitive proximity pattern.
You and Happy are more than friends.
Please.
I'm not about to be analyzed by someone whose degree came with pop-up ads.
(buzzing) Right to dismissive word choice.
There's no fraternization at work.
We're not fraternizing at work.
(buzzing) Notice his use of the qualifier âat workâ" He did.
He used a qualifier.
Yeah, but No, it CECIL: Tobias.
A little rumpscuttle with someone you care about-- nothing to be ashamed of.
But therapy only works in conjunction with honesty.
So are you involved in amorous congress with Miss Quinn or not? We await your answer.
Oh, crap.
Chunky chicken noodle.
$1.
98.
Correct.
Oyster crackers.
$2.
99.
Correct.
Uh, give me those.
I'm hungry.
(vehicle approaching) Ralph, you can't keep forgetting your lunch.
Oh, this is perfect.
Chevy Malibu, MSRP $21,625.
That's exactly what I paid.
I'm memorizing product pricing.
Jeopardy! rejected me.
I guess I'm not Trebek material.
Or maybe because you were pouring sanitizer all over their buzzer? Doesn't matter, 'cause I'll be on Price is Right next week, and I'm gonna be fully prepared.
Hey, we're back.
RALPH: Hey, Walter.
Hello.
What happened in therapy? We need to talk.
You told them.
Dr.
Cecil read me.
He Toby'd me.
You let the cat out of the bag.
Cat shouldn't be in a bag in the first place.
Bags are a terrible place for cats.
What was Walt's reaction? That's the thing, there was none.
He just said nothing the whole ride back.
That's a problem.
No fraternization, remember? We're not fraternizing-- we're in love.
Right? I guess.
Well, I say bully to Walter's rules.
We should let our heartstrings ring out! Like the bells of Notre Dame.
Okay.
No, no, wait.
Guys, attention, everyone! No, wait! I have an announcement to make.
Where's Ralph? Left for school.
He'll have to read about it in the papers.
Like Caesar and Portia, Othello and Desdemona, Popeye and Olive Oyl, I give you Scorpion's very own Brangelina: âQuintis.
â What the hell's a âQuintisâ? Quinn and Curtis.
We're finally together.
Like peanut butter and chocolate.
Sylvester.
Wait, you mean, like, together? Like Yeah, we touched parts.
Many times.
Okay, it's not a big deal.
And if you do not get off that box, it'll be over before you know it.
Um, does Walter know about this? WALTER: I do.
But let's discuss this later.
Right now, Cabe is coming in with a Federal Drug Agent Sanchez of Mexico.
PolicÃa Federal Ministerial.
Mexican drug enforcement? Sounds serious.
Agreed, so I suggest that we focus on what's important.
For the record, our love is important.
Okay, shut it.
Three days ago, a rancher found this brick of heroin attached to a drone that malfunctioned and crashed by the Arizona border.
Our sources are certain it came from Central America, through my country and into yours.
PAIGE: Gold Mule? This is the heroin that's been in the news? Extremely pure, very dangerous.
Kids are OD'ing on this poison all over the country.
It's potent stuff.
Users are willing to pay top dollar for it, and dealers are willing to kill for the distribution territory here in the States.
It's sparked gang wars in Mexico City, Guadalajara, Chicago, Atlanta and Miami.
Innocents are getting caught in the crossfire.
A father walking home from work.
An eight-year-old doing her homework.
Bullet came through her bedroom window.
Three blocks from my home.
She was doing math.
WALTER: I assume you want our help because drones are involved.
Correct.
So far we have been able to confiscate 85% of the shipments coming across the border.
Trucks, tunnels, airplanes.
Are you telling me all the drugs in the U.
S.
only account for 15% of the potential supply? Imagine if the rest got in via drone.
Bad guys always adapt.
The U.
S.
and our Mexican allies, we feel that the drone was a test flight for a new delivery system.
Well, drones make sense.
They're small, they're hard to spot.
They don't need runways or other infrastructure.
May I? Yes, please.
Up there.
SANCHEZ: Heard from an informant this morning.
They're gonna try another test run through this corridor this afternoon.
Perfect flight path.
No cops or military around for hundreds of miles.
Can't radar catch them? Well, radar's designed to filter out small aerial clutter, like birds.
Drones exploit this weakness.
Single point of failure.
Exactly, and if we can't figure out how to plug this hole, we'll start getting waves of this stuff at all hours up and down the border.
Okay, so what if we hit the drones with a focused energy concentration, like a pulse-gun that we built? Surge it? The CPU would fry or reboot.
Either way, those drones go down.
SANCHEZ: This could stop the shipments? Yeah, we'll make a rough prototype that Homeland would then scale, but, yes, if our device works, then drones would be stopped at the border.
Amazing.
But we will only have one shot at intercepting this practice run.
If it doesn't work, drugs get through.
So we'll have to make sure that the gun is properly calibrated.
We'll need a drone to shoot down as a test.
Oh, no, Birdroni? Yeah, better dust off your toy, buddy.
(whispering): 'Cause we're gonna blast it out of the sky.
I think I've got one and one I think this is what Walter wants for his pulse-gun.
Rifle stock? Yep.
Check.
An antenna.
Check.
What are you doing there? You beefing up the coil? Uh, yep.
I love watching you work.
Okay, you got to stop, you're gonna ruin this with the whole âQuintisâ pronouncements.
It was between âQuintisâ and âTappyâ.
And the love notes.
They're sonnets, actually.
And the texts.
I don't text that much.
Uh, 12:15, âWhat are you watching?â 12:16, âI am watching something else.
â 12:17, âCan I watch what you're watching with you? We'll be watch buddies.
â I'm just excited, I finally have everything I ever wanted.
Am I interrupting something? I'm just finishing up with the generator.
Are you? 'Cause we're on a schedule.
Great, I'll go get my gear.
Um, Toby? Actually, you are staying here.
What? Why? There is nothing in the desert for you to profile apart from lizards and cacti so you're staying here in the garage, and you're gonna man the uplink for the radar and the comms.
You're a distraction to Happy.
A distraction? So while we are gone, you will have the opportunity and the time to make a decision.
Decision about what? Members of team Scorpion cannot be in relationships with each other.
It is bad for efficiency.
So either you two break up, or one of you leaves the team.
I'll want an answer when I get back.
Walter, who the hell do you think you are? Hey.
SANCHEZ: Chopper to Yuma's ready.
We got to go.
Okay, the rest of the team, let's head out.
Told you, Doc, not good.
Maybe I should, uh, stay, try to calm him, get ahold of this mess.
I was thinking the same thing.
I'll work on Walter.
Hang in there, Birdroni.
Be strong.
Take it down.
(whimpers) Gizmo works.
Got to get my electronic bird! Be okay.
Please, be okay.
Please, be okay.
Now we wait for the real thing.
You finish juicing the surveillance van's radar? We'll see the drone before it sees us.
How we looking, Doc? You have full comm, cell and radar capabilities.
Signal's hot, just like my girlfriend.
That's exactly why Walter thinks your relationship is a distraction.
He might have a point.
You're siding with him? Uh, you're the one trying to get us to be human.
We finally take a step in that direction, you think it's wrong? Toby has put missions at risk over Happy before.
It affects his judgment.
You've taken risks for Paige.
Yeah, and I was wrong to do so.
She agrees.
Why would I want my employees to make the same mistake? Well, it's not that simple.
Not that simple? You ignored Walter's orders and ran off after Happy in a blizzard.
And it worked out okay.
And we got lucky.
Our missions are too important to jeopardize.
Scorpion saves lives.
Including our own.
Before this team, I was a struggling waitress, Sly embezzled from a bank, and you owed every gambler in town.
We're not those people anymore.
We've evolved.
Team can evolve, too.
Hey! Radar's showing incoming.
Why aren't your comms in? We were having a private conversation.
Yeah, wonder about what.
Direction? Southeast! 151 degrees! Uh, Doc? You seeing this? Walter, we got a sky full of bogies on its way.
This isn't a test flight.
This is a full shipment.
He's right.
There's scores of them heading towards us.
Let's shoot 'em down.
There's no way that pulse-gun will take out all those drones before they get past us.
Its field of fire is way too narrow.
It's worse than that.
The lead drone is weaponized and it has a camera that is locked in on us! Run for it, Sylvester! (gunfire) Ah! Happy, take cover! Scorpion 2x17 Adaptation @elderman Pulse-gun's not working any more.
They're out of range.
They're too far.
Sly? Happy, you okay? Uh, yeah, we're we're all okay.
Bad guys must've got Intel that law enforcement was onto them.
Decided to rush a shipment through.
And arm it just in case.
Situation changed; they adapted.
Guys, you got another wave inbound, few miles out.
This isn't over.
Wait! We can't let them get through.
Not to be defeatist, but a few shipments of heroin's a statistical drop in the ocean for the drug wars.
It's not worth us risking our lives over.
Like hell it isn't.
That eight-year-old girl doing her homework? Her name was Maria.
She was in class with my son.
They were friends.
You see them carrying bricks of drugs; I see them carrying coffins.
Gang, you're minutes from those drones being on top of you.
Okay.
But the pulse-gun's barely wide enough to take out one drone.
There's no way it'll be able to knock out 30.
Best strategy to take on an enemy with superior numbers is to force them into a narrow pass and take 'em out one at a time.
Yeah, like the Spartans in the film 300.
No, like John Wayne in The Alamo.
I don't see a narrow pass to force the other drones through and we can't create one out of thin air.
Actually, we can.
We just need a strong enough radio signal.
Create a canyon out of static.
The lead drone's computer will automatically readjust to get it through the narrow static pass.
WALTER: Right through here.
What about the rest of the drones? Based on the flight pattern that I saw, the drug runners have a single pilot controlling the lead drone.
Now, the rest link up to it remotely and fly in formation.
Once the main drone enters the static canyon, all the outer drones will adapt and move in closer to the center to avoid losing the leader's signal.
We shoot down the leader, control switches over to the next drone in line.
We'll nail 'em one at a time.
So, Happy, what can you build? I can broadcast a wall of interference on either side of the flock, but you guys have to receive it with the antenna.
All right.
Let's put the squeeze on 'em.
TOBY: Here they come.
Couple dozen bogies heading your way.
(drones whirring) WALTER: Okay.
Fire up the radio interference.
(sighs) HAPPY: Almost ready on my end.
(static crackling) Done.
Our radar's picking up the amplified static! PAIGE: It's working.
The drones are changing course.
CABE: Remember, kid, the first one shoots back! Yeah, well, I'm shooting first.
(drones whirring) We got 'em.
(whoops, laughs) They're falling like stones.
(laughs) Nice! WALTER: Damn it! Walt, one just got by.
Yeah, one flew right through the beam.
Where do the drug runners get their drones? Wherever they can.
Buy, build, steal.
That's it, that's the last one.
Now, wherever that one came from, it has some kind of tech that makes it immune to our pulse-gun.
Once the bad guys realize that They'll get more of that type and will make our weapon moot.
Be defenseless all over again.
Anything could be delivered anywhere.
Guys, get over here! We have to get that drone before they do.
TOBY: Oh.
We lost the drone.
You can't find what I can't see.
It's too low for the radar to pick it up now, but we're going in the direction that we saw it heading.
There! SYLVESTER: Looks like it's coming in for a landing just over that ridge.
All right.
Got it.
I don't know what's up there.
You mean, like, drug runners with guns? Sanchez, you guard our six.
I'm gonna go up there and see if I can find the drone.
Well, it's a big desert.
Second set of eyes couldn't hurt.
Fine.
Happy, you hop behind the wheel in case we have to bug out.
WALTER (quietly): Look, they're unloading drugs from the first wave that got past us.
Oh.
Yeah, over there.
That's the drone that beat our device.
We gotta get ahold of it so we can study it, figure out how it got through.
All right.
I'll go get it.
SYLVESTER: Are you guys doing something dangerous? It sounds dangerous.
Runners are collecting the drones.
Cabe's gonna swipe the one that we need without them seeing.
Oh, boy.
(speaking Spanish) Hey! Hey, run, run! Get in, get in, get in.
(gunfire) We're outgunned! (gunfire) (tires screeching) Come on! (gunfire) Come on, Walter! Walter, get back here! Sanchez, lay down cover fire! Get in! Get in! Run! Go! (tires squealing) Been a few minutes; no one's following.
CABE: I shot out their tires.
That should give us enough time to stay ahead of 'em.
At our current rate of speed, we should reach the Arizona Highway Patrol Post in Yuma (gunfire) Whoa! No, no! HAPPY: There's no car! Where are the shots coming from? Gun drone! (gunfire) Sly, give me that pulse weapon! (gunfire continues) (clicks) There's no juice! Oh.
You know what, the power cell must be spent.
We've alerted the Yuma police, but they're at least an hour away.
CABE: Everybody down! Stop the car.
Stop the car? Stop the car? I strongly advise against stopping the car! I can't get a steady shot with all this movement.
We got one shot.
I got to make it count, stop the car.
Stop the car! (tires screeching) John Wayne.
Okay, let's go! Those thugs are gonna be right behind us.
(engine starter whirring) Uh, some of the bullets must've hit the engine.
Big problem.
Not nearly as big as this one.
(grunts) WALTER: Cabe! Give me your jacket.
Come on, let's go, let's go! TOBY: Okay, you need to keep that pressure consistent and firm.
I'm fine! No, you're not.
As hard as this may sound, you need to take easy breaths, relax and slow your heart.
You'll lose less blood until we can get you some help.
Which won't be for a while.
Medevac's scrambled from Yuma but it'll be 45 minutes till they get to you.
And we can't take him to the hospital.
The bullets ripped through the pan.
There's no more oil.
The engine seized up.
These drug runners will be on us before we know it.
We're sitting ducks out here.
Then we don't stay here.
I've surveyed this area with U.
S.
Border Patrol for years.
There's a coyote shack a mile north of the rise.
Coyote shack? Human trafficking way station.
Food, water and a chance to get some rest.
Sly, Happy, you take Sanchez there.
Here, put pressure, put pressure on it.
And then, Paige will let medevac know where they're heading.
What about you and Cabe? We'll make some time with these.
Road flares? And some siphoned gas.
I think I know what you're doing.
You're gonna need my phone.
Okay.
(groans) Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa! Sanchez is not looking good! Toby? Gravity's not a friend to blood loss.
You got to get him to that shack and on his back.
HAPPY: Good luck! All right, Cabe, lift the hood? Then pull any wires that you can find.
We need to make a booby trap.
(talking quietly) Doc, you there? Right by your side.
Sanchez isn't looking so good.
Oh, I think he's passed out! His pulse is very weak.
Check the wound.
Uh, there's more blood than before.
And his jacket's soaked.
Ah, the bullet probably shifted during the walk.
Might've nicked his liver.
Okay, he's got maybe 60 seconds left if you don't find something to stuff in that wound.
Something more absorbent than Cabe's jacket.
Okay, Doc, I don't think I've ever said this to you before, but I'm not really crazy about blood.
He's going to die if you don't do something.
It's not like there's medical sponges in here.
It's a shack.
That's it-- sponges.
Here, quickly, give me your pocketknife.
Whoa, whoa, whoa, Sly, do not cut that man with a pocketknife! I am not.
I'm cutting into a cactus.
Which has evolved to contain spongy, succulent tissue that stores water.
There.
Looks absorbent to me.
Here.
Why are you giving it to me? So you can, you know, shove it in.
It's your cactus, you do it.
Have you just met me? This is Happy's time to shine.
Get that sponge in there now! TOBY: Okay, if this works, the bleeding should slow immediately and BP will rise.
Guys, how are we looking there? Come on, guys, I need an update! Happy! Happy, do you copy?! She's outside throwing up.
I think I might join her in a minute, but Sanchez is stabilized.
He's semi-conscious now.
You know, now that I think about it.
You know what this desert mission could've used? A doctor.
Walter could've never predicted All he does is predict.
He predicted that I wouldn't be needed on this case.
And he's predicting all these imaginary problems that'll come to Scorpion from me and Happy being together.
Like you possibly reacting too emotionally to things? What a shock that Miss Human Feelings would finally agree with robot Walter on this one issue.
What is that supposed to mean? You both know that if you change the fraternization rule, then you two lose the only obstacle you have, the only excuse you have for not being together! Happy and me, we let our freak flag fly! Your comms are still on, dummy.
In my anger, I forgot, but I stand by my analysis! You copy that, Walter?! Will you please shut up? They're here.
They could be in there! Get ready! (phone ringing) Did you hear that? (both shout) He's still alive.
Yeah, mine, too.
He's gonna wish he wasn't when he wakes up.
Happy? Sly? We're gonna take their truck.
and we're gonna come and get you and Sanchez.
Oh, scratch that.
We got company.
Let's go! Move it! PAIGE: Who's after you? You just knocked out the bad guys.
Looks like we weren't the only ones who called for backup! They're gaining on us fast.
HAPPY: Okay, the weight of the trailer is killing your RPMs.
They'll be on you before you know it.
Tell Gallo there's a switchback at the end of the canyon.
He can lose them there.
HAPPY: Sanchez says there's a switchback.
It's kind of a big desert.
I need details.
They're on our tail.
I can talk him through it.
I just need to catch my Br (gasping) (gasping) Toby? Sanchez can't breathe and his lips are turning blue.
They caught up to us! Guys, we need to know which way to turn off! Okay, you're gonna have to wing it! Doc, this man is dying in front of us-- you're gonna have to tell us what to do! PAIGE: Walter, where are you guys? Jumped off the main road in the canyon somewhere.
There are no mile markers here.
(gunfire continues) Oh, man.
Okay, Happy, good news is the medevac chopper's only ten minutes away, but the bad news is Sanchez has about three minutes before he suffocates so you're gonna have to perform some field surgery.
Yeah, I can't do that! Yes, you can.
I'm gonna talk you through it, pal, okay? From your description of the symptoms, I'm guessing that abdominal blood has filled his plural space, compressing a lung.
That sounds bad! We can make it better.
We just have to drain the fluid.
Is-is there a hose there or a straw or a small pipe? Uh Rubber tubing! That's exactly what we need, okay.
How about a nail? A nail.
Got one.
Perfect! Anything to sterilize it? Tequila.
That'll do.
Dunk the nail and one end of the tube in it.
I think, uh, I think I already know the answer to this, but why exactly are we sterilizing this stuff? Because you are gonna insert that tube into Sanchez's chest cavity.
(gasping) Oh, that's what I was afraid of.
Okay, okay.
(gunfire) We got no way to shake them! I have an idea.
You sure? Shooting at people isn't really your thing.
Yeah, I'm not gonna shoot at people.
All right.
(tires screech) (gunfire) (grunts) It worked! Yeah, good thing it did, 'cause, uh, 'cause I kind of dropped the gun, so (gasping) Hole in cap-- done.
Now what? Sly, thread the tube through the hole and tape it up-- it has to be airtight.
You're making a suction device.
Okay.
Done.
Now, get Sanchez into a seated position.
Happy, push the nail into the back.
Uh, the back of what? The back of Sanchez! Sanchez's back! Are you crazy?! Hey, for a million reasons the answer to that question is yes.
But believing in you, the most incredible person that I've ever known-- no, that does not make me crazy.
You hear my voice now? Hear how calm it is? Your anxiety's lowering as we speak.
You are a world-class engineer.
Any gadget, gizmo, machination or machine, you can master it, and the body's just a machine.
The heart is a water pump, the lungs are the intake system.
You're gonna use the nail to bleed the brakes.
Something you've done a million times.
Bleed the brakes.
I just need to bleed the brakes.
Okay, first, find the middle of the collarbone, and tap down from the top until you hear a dull thud.
That means the cavity's full of blood.
Then count down two ribs and gently push the nail in over the top of the rib below that.
I found it.
Now just gently insert it.
Okay, it's in! Great job.
You're almost done.
Just take the sterilized end of the tube, and slide that in next to the nail.
Ah, nothing much is coming out! It will.
Sly, give the water bottle a splash of lantern fluid, light it and quickly cap it up.
Done! Okay, the fire burned off any oxygen in the bottle.
Creating a vacuum to suck out the fluid.
It's working! (Sanchez inhales deeply) (coughing) Oh, Doc, thank you for the assist.
You're welcome.
Good work, Doc.
I'm proud of you.
WALTER: Guys, we could use some help, too! We're about eight miles north-northwest of the shack.
We left the road, we're in the canyon.
Not the direction I wanted you to go.
Well, we improvised.
Oh, yeah, that's a problem.
They're back on our tail.
It's a bigger problem than you think.
Why? (grunts) (tires screech) That's why.
SANCHEZ: It's a box canyon.
There's no way out.
You're trapped.
You got any ideas? Lots.
Just none of them pertaining to our current situation.
(vehicle approaching) We got to get them out of there.
Happy, didn't you give Walter your phone? Yeah, but how does that help? I'll explain later.
Sly, you got your laptop on you? Of course, but why? Put your hands up! Get out slowly.
Cabe.
Do what they say, son.
Move over! Get away from the truck! We know you're not alone.
Tell us where your friends are.
We're hard to get along with.
We don't have any friends.
You think I'm just gonna shoot here and that's it? We're in the desert, my man.
There's no law over here.
So I'm gonna get this guy you will eventually tell me whatever I want to know just to get his screams out of your ears.
You must be sampling your own product if you think that we're gonna tell you anything.
(grunting) Oh, my God, hurry! I'm going as fast as I can! Shoot him in the leg.
If we don't get what we want, blast his hand off.
I'm his boss.
He's nothing in this.
(drone whirring) Uh, you're in trouble now.
What's that toy gonna do to us, man? Oh, not him.
Him.
(gunfire) The drones follow a leader.
And Birdroni is their leader now.
Shoot it down! (gunfire) Two guns on one.
I can still take you down.
You can, but my friends are gonna open fire from 20 feet in the air, and you're gonna be dead, too.
This is the part where you put your weapon down and get on the ground.
All right.
Good job, we're okay.
(helicopter blades whirring) So are we.
Medevac's here.
SYLVESTER: Sanchez is on his way to the hospital.
(indistinct radio transmission) I can't believe Walter bought us a cotton candy machine.
WALTER: Yeah, I can't believe it either.
But it just got delivered here? I didn't know what was in the box, I just signed for it.
Someone must have stolen your credit card number.
You were mad at Walter so you charged a bunch of expensive nonsense to the corporate card just to annoy him? Your Super Fun Guy pinball machine arrives tomorrow.
Sweet, but I'm more worried if you'll be here tomorrow.
Walter's ultimatum may be moot.
Happy's pissed at me.
Well, putting tracking software in her cell phone is pretty stalkerish.
Just eat your cotton candy and shut up.
Nothing says âI'm sorryâ like a web of spun sugar.
You know, in my defense, if I hadn't installed that app on your phone, then Sly wouldn't have tracked Walt and Cabe and sent reprogrammed Birdroni to the rescue.
You're hugging the bunny way too tight, Lennie.
You're right.
I'm sorry.
I'm scared.
You don't know what I felt in the South Pole.
You-you were literally lost in the middle of a whiteout with no idea where you were.
I was without you, and-and you don't get it, 'cause this is new to you, but, uh, I've been in love with you for years.
If I'm hugging bunny tight, it's 'cause I don't want to lose bunny again.
Stop referring to me as âbunnyâ" Okay, but you started that.
I like you.
A lot.
You're not gonna lose me literally or figuratively.
Unless you put tracking software on my cell phone again.
I won't have to break up with you, because you'll be dead.
Copy that.
Just got off the phone.
Sanchez is gonna be okay.
And those drug runners we busted, they flipped on their bosses.
It's gonna shut down their heroin trade for a while.
Eh, bad guys always adapt.
They'll find another way to smuggle the stuff in.
This war isn't over.
We did win a battle.
A lot of the drugs won't be hitting the streets.
Given the size of the shipment we stopped and near-future shipments of the same size, taking into account overdose statistics, the gang war over distribution, and adjusting for a margin of error, we saved 4,287 lives, minimum.
Now that's not a bad day's work, huh? All right, I'm gonna head up to the loft to work on that drone that we caught.
Whatever I learn, I'll incorporate into the DEA's border defenses.
Sounds good.
So, uh, I assume that your relationship is resolved? 'Cause the intensity of today's case demonstrates the need for constant laser-like focus.
No distractions.
Okay, great.
What's on your mind? You heard over the comms how great Happy and Toby were when they were saving Sanchez's life.
They probably worked better together now that they are together than they ever have.
I thought that we agreed on this.
We can't risk the team.
I know, but maybe we should think of Scorpion as less of a team and more of a living organism that can evolve.
Like the cactus they used today, it adapted to living in the desert, it became a better version of itself.
Didn't Darwin say that to thrive you have to change? Actually, it was a professor named Leon Megginson.
He said, âIt is not the strongest âof the species that survives, nor the most intelligent.
it is the one that is the most adaptable to change.
â But Scorpion does not need to change.
HAPPY: That's right.
Uh, and that's why we're not going anywhere.
You asked us to make a decision.
Well, we decided you suck.
And for a genius, sometimes you can really be an idiot.
Scorpion is your team.
You can make your own mistake, but we're not making it for you.
We won't quit.
You're gonna have to fire both of us.
Yeah, we're a package deal now.
(whispering): You're doing it again.
Fine, you can both stay.
I'm docking your pay.
For the cotton candy machine.
You might think I'm an idiot, but I'm not a moron.
Fair enough.
I'm proud of you.
You are allowing Scorpion to evolve.
And who knows where it will go next? Well, I hope it works out because, uh, adaptation is messy business.
For every success story, like the cactus, there is an evolutionary dead end that leads to extinction, so But for now, I-I guess it is worth keeping an open mind.
You really told him.
That was awesome.
I had to defend your honor.
That's emasculating.
(door opens) MAN: Hey.
I got a pair of Jet Skis for O'Brien.
Let's get out of here before you get fired.
Yep.
@elderman
Yep.
