Fact or Faked: Paranormal Files (2010) s02e23 Episode Script

Surveillance Specter & Morgue Mystery

Tonight on "Fact or Faked:".
.
"Paranormal files".
.
- Oh, my God! - Wow! Whoa! That is so bizarre! Look at this place.
Ignite! Woo! Yeah! This is a type of art called Anamorphosis.
Nice.
Go for it.
Paranormal groups have been going over the years.
And haven't been able to solve the case.
Do you hear that? Is somebody down here? Can you communicate with us in any way? You guys, something is in the hallway.
Get there now.
Go, go, go, go, go! If there's anybody in here with me right now, just give me a sign of your presence.
Oh, my goodness! There's a flying saucer.
I'm getting a series of lights right there.
So, are you seeing what I am seeing? What the heck is happening? - Hey, Ben.
- Hey! How are you? Hey.
Good.
How are you? Good.
All right.
Have a seat.
Let's get right into it.
- Who's up first? - That'll be me.
I have a clip that was shot by Joe Montaldo in Mississippi in February of 2012.
Now, in this clip, you see two reddish orange lights.
That are shimmering and hovering off in the distance over a large body of water.
Take a look at this, guys.
That looks like headlights in the sky.
Yeah! He's got that on a long zoom.
Anybody else notice that these lights seem to stay together like the headlights or taillights of a car? We've had cases like this before where we're looking at vehicles in the distance against a hill, and they look similar to this.
Are there any other witnesses, though, of this UFO? That would lend a lot of credibility to this case.
Not that I know of.
I don't know, guys.
There are so many bases in that area that it could easily be a military craft.
You're right.
Good point, too.
I guess we'll set this one aside for now.
Okay, I have a great one for you.
This one is on the top of the charts here.
In 2009, a man is out in a park playing with his dog.
And he ran into a little girl and her Mother.
Look at what this little girl was doing.
Is that a girl? - Yeah.
- Oh, my God! - Wow! - Wait, no.
- What?! - What the.
.
Is that a little girl levitating? Yes.
She's like 10 feet floating above the Mother.
Whoa! That is so bizarre! Oh, and her hair.
I think something we need to ask is.
.
Does the eyewitness have the names of the woman and child? - Did he follow them? - No.
All we have right now is the videographer and this piece of footage.
But you know what I love about this? When I first saw the child, I was like.
.
"That's got to be a dummy or something.
" And then she lands and walks away.
Now, did you guys notice that quick pan down.
And then what seemed to be like a white flash? That would be the perfect spot for a cut point.
And if it were a hoax, that would be the perfect point to actually switch out a dummy for the real girl.
You know, whether this is faked or not, it's a really good video.
It's fake! Come on! I like this clip, and it's a case, I think, we should take on.
I mean, it's interesting, but I'm not 100% convinced.
Why? Because it's too fantastic? Is that why everybody's rejecting this? I'm not rejecting it.
I actually really like this video.
You know, and a lot of people dismiss levitation right off the bat.
But I have heard some very credible stories.
And people that swear to me they've seen people practice this.
I'm not debating the possibility of levitation.
I'm debating the authenticity of this video.
I like the debate it's started.
I think it would be great to do.
It's a good challenge.
Okay.
Who's up? I've got a clip I want everybody to see.
Now, this video was shot at the infamous Belgrave Hall in Leicester, England.
And it shows what is believed to be two apparitions.
That were caught on the hall's Security Camera.
Take a look at this video.
The upper right-hand side.
Right there.
Oh, yeah.
Wow.
What is that? It is believed by some that these are two apparitions that were caught on the hall Security Camera.
Now, the camera that recorded this was set to record one frame every second.
But when the apparitions appeared, the camera froze for five seconds.
Then when it started running again, the apparitions had disappeared.
Bill, what else do we know about this location? It is believed by some that one of these apparitions is that of Charlotte Ellis.
Whose wealthy father purchased this location in 1845.
Now, when the family moved in.
Charlotte became ill and died there.
And those that look at this clip says that one of the apparitions appears to be wearing a Victorian dress that was common during this era.
Bill, I do see that.
I can totally make that out.
This clip didn't just recently surface.
I mean, many teams of individuals have examined this footage and this case.
And have not been able to conclude what it is that we're seeing here in this clip.
Are there other hauntings happening here? There's actually a whole range of experiences that people have reported from Belgrave Hall.
There's full-body apparitions, there's disembodied footsteps.
Even phantom cooking smells, all paranormal reports coming from Belgrave Hall.
Wow.
It seems there's more to this video than meets the eye.
Yeah.
This has a great back story, good paranormal history.
The video is something unique like we haven't seen before.
I like this clip.
Well uh, that leaves us with Devin.
What do you have for us? I'm really excited to show you this one.
Okay.
This case comes to us from Louisville, Kentucky, from the Baxter Avenue Morgue.
.
Infamous paranormal hot spot.
From 2008 to 2010, Henry Newton and Carolyn Craft.
.
Were leading a group of paranormal researchers through this historic location.
When they came across two very compelling pieces of evidence.
Now, the first one I have for you today comes from 2008.
It's a photograph taken by one of their researchers.
They were taking base-line control photos when they came across this.
I see a figure, - standing in the boxes.
- Yes.
Yeah.
It looks like a human skeleton almost like with no head.
But why couldn't this just be a case of motion blur? If you take a look at the top left of the screen, you see the lights there.
It's streaking.
Well, I don't want to rule that out.
But Henry said that he took over 500 photos.
Played with all of the settings to try to duplicate this apparition and couldn't.
Now in 2009, Henry's team was conducting a totally separate investigation.
.
And on video, he captured this.
Now, keep your eye on the chair.
Now, this is Henry.
And he's prepping an EVP session, so he's setting his equipment on the chair.
Oh! Wow! Right?! It's interesting because initially, if you look closely enough.
.
The chair actually lifts upward and then it topples over.
Yeah, almost like it teeters for a second or two.
Considering that this place is a morgue, that in itself is creepy.
Because it's such a scary place with so much history.
Paranormal researchers flock there.
See, personally, I'm not convinced that this is paranormal in nature.
But I love that paranormal groups have been going over the years, and haven't been able to solve the case.
All right, it's that time.
I think we've seen it all.
So uh, let the debates begin.
Who wants to do what? Belgrave Hall all the way.
I think I'll go with Bill to Belgrave.
Just because of the fact that so many people have tried to tackle that and have come out with no answer.
I think it's time the "Fact or Faked" team.
.
Brings the expertise and brings home an answer.
Well, I really like my Mississippi UFO case, but Baxter Morgue.
.
I'm definitely in for that one.
I'm with you on this one, Lanisha.
The Baxter Avenue Morgue has got way too much evidence for me to ignore.
All right, well, if we've got two down on the team going to Belgrave.
- I'll be happy to join you guys.
- Nice.
So, Bill, Austin, Jael, why don't you guys go to the U.
K.
to Belgrave? Okay.
And then I'll go with Lanisha and Devin and we'll go to the Baxter Morgue.
All right.
Let's go.
All right, guys.
We're in Leicester, almost smack-dab in the middle of England.
To investigate that mysterious video, shot that one rainy night at the historic Belgrave Hall.
It was shot in December 1998.
And it was almost 5:00 A.
M.
When the closed-circuit camera captured what appears to be these glowing, floating apparitions in the middle of the courtyard.
Belgrave Hall has a long-standing paranormal history.
This place is so old.
Many, many prominent families have lived there before it became a museum in 1936.
Well, we're about to meet with Stuart Warburton.
And he was actually the curator at Belgrave Hall, during the time the video was captured.
So it's gonna be great to sit down and talk with him.
And actually get his firsthand account of what he thinks might have been captured, on video that night.
Here's the hall on the left right now.
Guys, I don't know if it's just me, but it does have a very ghostly feel.
- Hello.
- Stuart? - Good to meet you.
- Hi.
Bill.
- How are you doing? - Welcome to Belgrave Hall.
Can you give us a little bit of a history about Belgrave Hall? It was built between 1709 and 1713.
It was John Ellis that bought the house in 1845.
And a lot of people believe that the ghost that's seen inside the house.
Is of one of the Ellis' daughters.
They all died in the hall.
Ooh.
Can you elaborate further about the sightings that have happened within the hall? To my knowledge, at least three different members of staff have seen the apparition.
They've seen a small lady in the hall itself at the bottom of the stairs, on the first floor landing, and near to the housekeeper's room.
What other types of activity have people claimed to experience? Um, we've heard noises, footsteps, heard doors close um.
.
That kind of thing.
Now, where is the camera mounted that recorded that image? The camera's mounted behind you.
It's on that post.
And it's the camera that's facing directly to us.
They are motion-sensor cameras.
So anything that passes past the camera will lock onto that image.
So, the camera recognized that there was something appearing in the frame, and it locked on it to take, like, a photograph.
Absolutely.
Yeah.
Can we have access to your CCTV system for our experiments? - Yes.
Certainly.
- Fantastic.
Can you say with complete confidence that you and your colleagues had nothing to do with hoaxing this video? Absolutely no hoaxing of the video from me or the staff I worked with at the time.
Well, Stuart, you've given us a lot of really good information.
Thank you so much for your time.
Thank you much.
We just met with Stuart Warburton and got his account of what actually happened the night the video was captured.
Now it's time to launch into a series of replication experiments and see if there is anything actually paranormal about what was going on with these images.
All right, guys.
We're all set up.
We have an external recording device, and our monitor is linked to the original camera.
So, let's talk about some natural explanations.
What obviously could maybe have dropped in front of the lens to create this apparition? - Okay.
- Um.
.
We're surrounded by Oak trees.
- Yeah.
- So there's leaves that could fall.
Look.
We can collect some of these, maybe just drop in front of the camera, and even though it fell quick, the motion detector will just grab it and hold that still image and record it for five seconds.
And if you look at the original video, it's raining.
It's not raining right now.
I say we make it rain.
We set up a simple rain machine.
It's basically just a hose with a nozzle attached to it.
- Perfect.
- That's a good idea.
All right, guys, I'm gonna go grab the ladder and the rain machine and start getting things set up.
- And I'll go find some leaves.
- All right.
We want to see if a falling leaf will look like what's called "The Belgrave Ghost.
" So, I've got myself and this ladder securely fastened.
I've run this hose, which is our water source.
And I have this special-effects, rain-making prop head.
Now, with this, I can make it look like it's a light drizzle or like we're stuck in the middle of a monsoon.
Bill, make it rain! You got it.
Woo! All right.
Austin, this looks fantastic.
Copy that.
All right.
I'm gonna need you to guide me as far as where to drop it.
Just dip the leaf so we can see where it's gonna be dropping in the frame to be sure you're in the right position.
- How's that? - A little more towards the center.
- Is that okay? - Yes.
Location's good.
Ready? Yep.
Three.
.
Two.
.
One.
Drop the leaf.
Releasing leaf.
Look at that! We're at Belgrave Hall in Leicester, England, and we want to see if a falling leaf will look like what's called "The Belgrave Ghost.
" - Ready? - Yep.
Three.
.
Two.
.
One.
Drop the leaf.
Releasing leaf.
Austin, that was a really good drop.
It passed exactly where we needed it to.
Why don't you come back down so we can do a side-by-side? - Copy that.
I'll be down in a second.
- Okay.
Look at this.
Now, that's looking good.
It does look good.
Yeah.
We have the illumination, the shape's fairly close.
- Yeah.
- It's in the same general area.
With the leaf being further from the lens, it actually is reflecting the ambient light.
I'd say that this is pretty darn similar.
Playing with proof of concept, I feel like we can say this is what this is.
I just feel like, if we didn't get 100% exact match, we need to test the other possible theories.
Well, there are other tests that we can do.
You have some paranormal researchers that are claiming that these anomalies appear to be self-illuminating.
.
Maybe even a hoax.
So how about we move on to a test, this time creating a visible flare? Perhaps the initial detonation of a smoke flare could create the effect.
Like this? - There you go.
- Like that.
What if we, like, you know, bury it.
.
Place it in the proper position and detonate it remotely? And then we could just attach mono filament line to the detonator on this.
I just pull that as soon as it goes, the picture snaps, we see the flare, hopefully it blows out before we go back to a live feed.
- Let's get to it.
- Okay.
The flares we're using to re-create this video.
.
Are the same flares that police officers use when they're actually dispersing a riot.
This could be intense.
Okay, Austin, you ready? Sure am.
Okay, on three.
.
Two.
.
One.
Ignite! Yeah! Okay, I'm recording on all of this.
Whoa! That's a lot of smoke.
- Back to a live feed.
- How'd that look? Well, let's do a side-by-side.
All right.
Oh, wow! - Okay.
- How's that? It's definitely illuminated.
It definitely created a lot of light initially.
Yes.
It definitely did.
The only problem is, I don't think the flame reached anywhere near the height that we're seeing here.
But it was probably just as bright.
Oh, absolutely.
The shape's completely different, though.
You can tell that this looks like flames.
.
- Yes.
- And this has a smoother edge.
I mean, you can tell that it's on the ground.
Whatever's in the original video is definitely in the air.
- Right.
- Yeah.
Then maybe he had something else that has been misidentified that we need to consider.
Hear me out on this.
.
Soap suds.
Maybe a janitor just left a cleaning bucket out in the rain and all we're seeing is soap suds.
Is that so farfetched? Okay, but if we're gonna test this, we should take it to the next level.
A Flogo.
Have you ever heard of a flying logo? It's basically a mixture of soap, helium, and air.
And it's pumped out through stencils from a special machine.
These bubbles are created in certain shapes.
And then they just drift away in the wind.
Companies use them.
They're actually kind of fun.
The helium, which is lighter than air, would allow the Flogo to lift out of the camera's view.
And since the image would have been grabbed after the live video feed starts.
It's like it would have just disappeared.
Like we see in the original clip.
It's a creative theory.
I think that we should experiment with it.
- I'm into that.
- All right.
Let's go.
What I've got behind me is our Flogo machine.
This here is a huge vat filled with soap mixture.
And these are valves that pump helium and air through the machine.
Now, as you can see, the suds are coming out of the machine right now.
So all I have to do is slice.
.
And up and away goes our anomaly.
Austin, are we out of frame? You're completely out of view.
Whenever you're ready, let it fly.
All right.
Here we go.
And three.
.
Two.
.
One.
.
And cut! Here we go.
Yeah.
That was so cool.
Hey, Austin, how'd that look? You guys, it looks good.
Come check this out for a side-by-side.
You guys are not gonna believe the similarities.
Check this out.
- Whoa! - Look at that.
That's remarkable.
The luminosity's great.
It looks like it's something that's suspended in midair.
It's the same color.
You.
.
You know, I'll have to admit.
I thought this experiment idea was pretty outlandish.
.
But the results kind of speak for themselves.
It's.
.
It's kind of matching it pretty well.
But look how much trouble it was for us to go through.
And if it was just suds from something natural that created suds, I don't think it would have maintained form like this does.
With our leaf experiment.
.
The elements were so close, I would say it's almost close enough to say.
.
"Yes.
That's what it is.
" Yeah, definitely we were able to get a close match.
But there's so much paranormal history here that, true to "Fact or Faked" form.
.
We should definitely do a night investigation.
There's multiple witnesses that have all claimed to see the exact same apparition, and I like that.
That shows there could be some truth to it.
Yeah, that's substantial.
I say we stay and see if we can find anything.
Absolutely.
With all the paranormal history that surrounds Belgrave Hall.
.
We're gonna stay the night and do our own investigation to see if we can collect evidence of the paranormal ourselves.
- All right, guys.
- Hey.
All set up? Yeah, shots are locked, in focus.
.
We're ready to go.
Front and center, we have the Security Camera that captured the video that brought us here.
Camera 1 we have right here on the stairs.
We have the second floor, where the chest is, where they also saw an apparition.
Last but not least, we have the full spectrum camera.
.
- Covering a view of the entire house.
- Looking good.
I have a shadow detector that we're gonna be setting up on the second-floor landing.
Now, this thing will create an audible alarm, so if the light gets broken in any way, you'll hear it.
- Great.
- There's also a laser grid that we set up here.
I'm also gonna have uh.
.
An audio recorder so we can record separate EVP sessions.
And I'll take the SLR camera so I can snap photos along the way.
Stay in contact via walkie.
Thank you.
- All right.
- Ready to go green? Ready to go green.
- Let's do it.
- Let's do it.
Okay, so, do you know what, Jael? Since this is exactly the location where witnesses reported seeing a full-body apparition.
I suggest we set the shadow detector up right here.
Perfect.
You know what? Let's go to the servants quarters together.
- Yeah.
- Because that's where everybody's reporting that oppressive feeling.
Okay.
Sounds good.
Okay.
Austin, Jael and I are heading into the housekeeper's quarters.
Copy that.
So, Jael, let's.
.
Let's just conduct an EVP session.
.
- Okay.
- While we're here.
I'm gonna place it on the mantle.
Is anyone here with us that would like to communicate? Did something happen here? Can you communicate with us in any way? Can you walk these floors? Can you make a sound? With all the paranormal history that surrounds Belgrave Hall.
We're gonna stay the night and do our own investigation to see if we can collect evidence of the paranormal ourselves.
Is anyone here with us that would like to communicate? Did something happen here? Can you walk these floors? Can you make a sound? Hello? This sounds crazy.
.
I know.
But the footsteps sound like they're coming from upstairs.
There is no upstairs.
Oh, my gosh.
Is there a stepladder? This is right above.
.
The housekeeper's bedroom.
Why would anyone be up there? I'm gonna open this real quick.
- Ready? - Yeah.
Whoa.
Anybody up there? You guys, the motion tracking just picked up in the bay.
It looks like it's out in the hallway, you guys.
Something is in the hallway, get there now.
On the way.
Hurry, hurry, hurry.
Whoa! We started off with Bill and I heading around while Austin manned base camp.
I ended up heading to the second-floor landing where those apparitions had been sighted.
And I set up a shadow detector.
So, next what happened was that Bill and I went up to the maid's quarters.
.
One of the creepier rooms in the house.
So, it was there, I decided, I was gonna conduct an EVP session.
We started the record.
.
And then we heard distinctly what sounded like footsteps overhead.
Why don't you go ahead and play this audio file and you guys can hear what we heard? Oh! What? Hello? - You were flipping out, Jael.
- I was flipping out.
I really was.
This is impossible.
We're on the top level of the house.
Jael spotted a small attic hatch.
And I opened it up, and the space between the ceiling and the roof line was only about a foot and a half.
You couldn't even walk up there if you wanted to.
And it doesn't stop there.
All of a sudden, the motion tracking goes off.
I look over.
I didn't see what it captured, so I sent Bill and Jael to see what was going on.
And by the time we got down there, whatever set off this detector was gone.
Well, did you capture anything on video? Let me, show you this.
I want you to look what's gonna come from right by the stairs.
.
- And it comes across.
- No way! - Wait.
What? - That was a human body.
That was a human form.
And not only that, but it looks like it's floating.
I mean, whenever we see a shadow, first thing we think is, we're probably just seeing a shadow of one of us, right? None of us know how it happened.
All of us were accounted for.
And this is exactly where Stuart had told us that the staff keeps seeing these shadow apparitions.
All right, guys.
Belgrave Hall.
.
Fact or Faked? At the end of the day, the Oak leaf was the closest match to the original.
And it's the most logical explanation.
There are Oak trees all over the grounds.
But when I heard the footsteps overhead, I.
.
I mean, that was probably one of the strangest things I've ever experienced on one of my paranormal investigations.
I believe that Belgrave Hall is a classic case of a residual haunting.
You guys totally figured out the video evidence in question.
But the evidence you brought back.
.
That's scary.
When you guys did your night investigation.
.
I think you just reconfirmed that this place has paranormal activity going on.
Absolutely.
Now, tell us about the Baxter Avenue Morgue.
So, as you remember, we went down to Louisville, Kentucky, to investigate a video and a photo in the Baxter Avenue Morgue.
This is how it went.
I love Louisville, Kentucky.
And we've got two pieces of really good purported paranormal evidence.
Now, the first one is this photograph taken by Henry Newton.
It appears to show a full-body apparition, but minus the head.
Well, the other piece of evidence we're investigating is a video that was shot by Carolyn Craft.
Now, this video shows a chair that's being knocked over by what many say is a poltergeist.
This morgue has been out of operation since 1951.
But in 2001, they opened up a haunted house downstairs.
There's a printing company upstairs.
They actually refuse to go downstairs unless they absolutely have to.
Because of how haunted this place is.
Well, all right, guys, we're about to meet Henry and Carolyn and get their insight into the activity at the Baxter Avenue Morgue.
Look at this place.
- You must be Henry.
- Yes.
Ben.
Nice to meet you.
So, tell us about this morgue.
It kind of has a.
.
A dark reputation to it, doesn't it? Yes, it does.
Back in uh, 1901 through 1951, it was a morgue/funeral home.
In the 1970s, the city of Louisville, they actually rented this facility to be the overflow morgue.
They didn't have enough storage in the city morgues.
So, you guys have investigated this building numerous times.
What should we be looking out for as far as experiences go? - Touches.
.
- Yeah.
Hair being pulled, scratches, if you provoke.
In the doll room.
.
There was a doll that they used to have sitting up on one of the shelves, and it actually has jumped off numerous times and hit people with it.
So, can you tell us where the photo was taken? Yes, I can.
Oh, wow.
It is creepy down here.
- Yeah.
- Yes, it is.
Yeah.
So, this is where the photo was taken by the crates.
Yes, it was.
On the right side, yes.
Just down there by that first crate.
So what can you tell us about the circumstances at the time that this photo was taken? It was the spring of 2009.
We just walk around, randomly taking pictures.
- Uh-huh.
- And uh, we spotted that.
To me, it looks like a full-body apparition.
So, do you have the camera that you used that night? It's right here.
We'll be sure to get it back to you.
Could you take us to where the video was shot? Yes, I'll be more than happy to take you.
- Okay.
- Okay.
So, walk us through what happened that night uh.
.
When this chair fell over by itself.
I was doing an EVP session.
- I was taking pictures.
- Mm-hum.
You know, just random.
My batteries went dead after about 10 pictures.
.
- Brand-new batteries.
.
- Wow.
Is when I heard this metal sound.
So I come running down here, and I came in here, and that's when the chair was flipped.
What do you think made the chair actually move? Now I don't know.
Um, what do you say to those people who say, like.
.
"Well, you're probably doing it just to get, you know, promotion" "for your haunted house or to get other investigators to come there?" Spend the night.
Spend the night.
It that don't change your mind, nothing will.
Okay well, thank you so much - for your time.
.
- Thank you.
And for lending us your camera equipment.
You guys have given us a lot to work with.
Definitely.
Coming up on "Fact or Faked".
.
- Go for it.
- " Paranormal files".
.
Do you hear that? Is somebody down here? Nice! Just give me a sign of your presence.
So, now that we've gotten both Henry and Carolyn's back story regarding both the photo and the video, we're ready to run our replication experiments to see if it was, indeed.
.
Fact or Faked.
So, what would cause this to move over by itself naturally? - There's no windows in here.
- Right.
I don't feel any draft whatsoever.
Let alone a breeze strong enough that's gonna move this thing.
There had to be some external force which pushed it all the way over.
Either this is actual evidence of the supernatural or it's a complete hoax.
It's black and white for me.
Now, remember, the rest of this video's pretty dark.
I mean, it lends itself to a hoax scenario.
That's exactly what I was thinking.
My first inclination is, you can't see what's going on in the shadows.
We could easily attach a line to this.
- Yeah, well.
.
- And maybe someone was pulling on it.
It caused the initial teeter.
They didn't pull hard enough, so they pulled again, and that's what caused the whole thing to fall over.
Well, since the chairs are metal, we could attach a magnet just on the backside of the ridge there.
I love the idea of using a magnet because in the original video, we don't see any wires or cables or anything attached.
And if the person off-camera pulls on it and the magnet disconnects and goes off into the shadows, it's like you never saw it.
Well, you know, I like the idea of attaching it to the back here because if we attach it to the leg, then we run the risk of the chair dragging instead of teetering over like we - see in the original video.
- Yeah.
Why don't you guys work on getting the exact position of the chairs? - Okay.
- And then, Lanisha.
.
- Set the frame to camera.
.
- Okay.
And we'll be ready to go.
This experiment is quite simple.
What we have is some spider wire.
.
Which shouldn't show on camera.
.
Attached to a Which we'll attach right to the back of a chair.
And we're just gonna wire this back to a vantage point about here.
And then the pole like that.
.
There you go.
All this should disappear into the darkness.
That's perfect, Devin.
You're perfect there.
You guys ready? - Ready.
- Let's go green.
Three.
.
Two.
.
One.
.
Pull.
- Nice.
- Mm-hmm.
- Nice.
- How'd that look? Just like the video from here, but come back and let's take a look at it.
All right.
Nice! This is a spot-on re-creation.
I mean, the way that it falls.
The sound of the chairs hitting the ground.
It all sounds the same.
But one thing missing is the upward movement before the chair tips.
Yeah.
You know, maybe we could get something, that would actually pop the chair up and backwards with more force.
- That's interesting.
- Possibly.
But you know what? I've got something in the truck that might actually do the trick.
- Okay.
- Okay.
Our spider wire hoax experiment got really close to replicating the original video.
But that doesn't mean that's how it was done.
So we're gonna move on to a new experiment that tests a theory that, instead of tipping over the chair with a wire from above.
.
Maybe the chair had a little help from below.
All right, guys.
This is another hoax scenario.
For this experiment.
.
We have here what's called a solenoid, or a Thumper.
Essentially, it's an electromagnet, and when electric current is ran to it.
This little piece of metal juts out.
Now, if we attach this to the bottom of the leg of the chair.
And it shoots up, theoretically, the chair will flip over.
These Thumpers are really cool because, you know, special-effects people use them when they want to flip things over and do it invisibly, like we do.
Yeah.
I'll rig the electric, and then I'll hide in the shadows, ready to trigger the device.
Well, let's get started, guys.
So, I'm gonna attach it to the back of the leg.
As soon as we hit the electrical.
.
It's gonna push up just like that.
Okay.
Let's go green.
All right.
I'm hot.
Count me down.
Three.
.
Two.
.
One.
.
Go for it.
- Hey! - Yes! Nice work.
Wow, come check it out.
Boom.
- No way.
- See that? You know, you guys, I got to say, I like doing it this way the best.
You know, we got electromagnetics.
We got car batteries, electricity, and wires.
- Bottom line is, it tipped.
- Yes.
- Okay, all right, all right.
- It tipped.
It worked.
The spider wire was much more smooth.
If it was a hoax, I would say.
.
Why go to the elaboration - of using something like a Thumper? - Yes.
So I say, we've gone as far as we can go with the video.
Why don't we tackle the photo, see what we can do with that? - That sounds good.
- All right.
- Okay, let's head over, then.
- So, let's pack up.
Okay.
All right.
So, this is where the photo was taken, huh? If somebody was down here, they have nowhere to go.
There's a wall here.
There's a wall here.
- It's very unlikely that someone.
.
- Right.
Was standing here and wasn't caught.
So, I think we can probably rule that out.
I mean, who's to say that this isn't just a case of motion blur? Henry did say that he was passing through here.
You know, he walked by, he snapped a photo, and then he kept going.
Maybe there's some sort of motion blur.
Maybe he moved when he took the photo.
It might have created that streaking motion.
Absolutely.
If we adjust the camera settings, iris, and the shutter speed.
.
And also move the camera in a downward motion.
I think we might be able to re-create what we're seeing here.
Why don't we start on automatic everything? Because we don't know the exact conditions of the lighting that night.
So, it still could have been on automatic mode, anyway.
- Yeah, that's true.
- It's on auto.
All right.
Crate ghost photo.
Here we go, in three.
.
Two.
.
One.
In May 2011, shocking video revealed explosions of bright blue, orange, and green in the sky over Fort Worth, Texas.
Pointing out the strange objects hovering overhead.
.
Paranormal enthusiasts speculated the footage revealed an alien invasion underway.
But is this alleged intergalactic attack Fact or Faked? The answer when we return.
When mysterious video out of Fort Worth, Texas, surfaced on May 2011.
It led many Ufologists to suggest that the Lone Star State was under alien attack.
But is this alleged invasion Fact or Faked? Faked.
While the video itself is authentic.
The fluorescent flashes filling up the screen were soon identified, as the electrical transformers exploding during a fierce lightning storm.
The alleged UFOs in the sky? Nothing more than hovering news helicopters.
We'll try multiple settings for both the iris and shutter speed.
And see if we can effectively re-create what we're seeing in the original photo.
Why don't we start on automatic everything? It's.
.
It's on auto.
All right.
Crate ghost photo.
Here we go, in three.
.
Two.
.
One.
That looks pretty good.
- There you go.
- Yeah.
That looks good.
I'm not seeing quite as much motion as I want to.
.
The colors, everything are matching.
Maybe we'll try a different setting.
I think that we should try shooting it in night scene.
- Yeah.
- Oh, that's a good idea.
The night scene doesn't turn on any infrared settings.
It just allows it to soak up more light, which may aid in the blurring of any kind of motion.
- Exactly, so.
.
- Okay.
Let's give it a go.
It's on night scene.
And here we go.
Woo-hoo! Yes.
- That's.
.
Yeah.
- Do you see that? That looks good.
- That is better.
- Oh, man.
But we're still not seeing enough definition.
What if we increase the shutter speed to about two seconds? That should give us more of that effect that we're seeing here.
Wow, that's extreme, but, you know, I think you might be on the right track.
- Well, we'll see what it does.
- All right.
So, here we go.
Three.
.
Two.
.
One.
- There we go.
- Whoa! Whoa! - That definitely did it.
- We clearly have motion blur.
Yes.
The lights on the left, I'm getting that streaking, and for whatever reason, whatever's on the right-hand frame is starting to look like a figure.
- Mm-hum.
- Look at that.
It's the same transparency.
We're even getting some double images there.
I think it was just a case of mistaken identity.
They mistakenly blurred their image by moving.
And that's why they weren't able to replicate it again when they came back and took 500 pictures right here, because they were still.
This is so close.
Um, I'm pretty satisfied with it.
However, it's not completely perfect.
And I'm wondering if there's another way to do this.
.
Maybe through the hoax scenario.
So, what's another way that this could have been done if it wasn't motion blur? I think we should try something we've never done before.
- Okay.
- Now, this is a type of art called Anamorphosis.
Now, Anamorphosis is.
.
A process by which you draw a drawing on a three-dimensional type.
.
Um, background, and it can only be seen from a certain precise angle.
Otherwise, it looks distorted.
So that angle will be our vantage point from the camera here.
- So, it's like an optical illusion.
- Yes.
This is gonna be a real challenge, because we're talking about.
.
- Yeah.
- You're not gonna be able to tell what this is unless you're looking directly from the proper vantage point.
- Okay.
Well, let's pack it out.
- All right.
You can actually draw the right arm and shoulders on that metal beam there.
- Yeah, right at that height.
- Yep, yep.
Okay.
All right.
And then the left shoulder on the very back wall.
- Like, something, like, right here.
.
- Yep.
Going down? There you go.
- Well, let's start shading this in.
- All right.
We're working with an art form for this hoax scenario, called Anamorphosis.
Something we've never done before.
And it's amazing because we can use multiple dimensions and layers.
From the front of this crate to the metal beam, all the way to the back wall.
To create an image that only appears when you look at it from the vantage point.
All right, this is really coming together, you guys.
Yeah, it's looking good.
So uh, let's take some shots with it.
- Okay.
- Okay, let's do this! All right, let me grab the camera.
Anamorphosis.
You ready? Ready.
In three.
.
Two.
.
One.
Fire away.
- Ooh! Look at that.
- That actually looks good.
Yes.
From this angle, it all looks like it's one solid form in the photograph.
And we're getting the streaks - in the left-hand side.
.
- Yep.
- Just from your little motion there.
- Mm-hum.
And I'm extremely impressed with how accurate this is.
I mean, look, you stand here, you can't tell what it is.
And then you move over to right around here, and there it is.
Well, it definitely looks good but, in my opinion, I think we came much closer just - by using the camera itself.
.
- Yeah.
- Yeah.
- Creating the motion blur.
Even though it would have been easy to hoax this.
.
- Doesn't mean that it was.
- Right.
I think we take out all the stops and see if we can figure this out ourselves.
Let's do a night investigation.
All right.
I like that.
- Let's pack up.
- Okay.
Now, although we were able to come really close to replicating both the photo and the video.
There's way too much purported evidence at this location for us not to launch into a full night investigation.
All right, Dev, all the cameras are set up.
Everything is good to go, guys.
We have four cameras covering this entire area.
The first camera is in the crate room, which is where the original photo was taken.
- Uh-huh.
- The second infrared camera is in the doll room.
The third infrared camera is in the gurney room.
And the fourth infrared camera is where the original video was taken and that chair flipped over.
- So if anything happens, we'll see it.
- Awesome.
All right, guys, you got your cameras, you got your walkies, you got the laser.
I think we're ready.
- All right.
- Let's go green.
Let's try to replicate what Henry said he was doing, okay? Okay, so, he had his equipment on this chair here, right? He did.
We've got our geophone to detect very, very small vibrations.
Set this really sensitive.
Check, one, two, three.
One, two.
My name's Ben, and this is Lanisha.
We've heard that there's a lot of activity of strange occurrences here.
Did you hear that? The thumping.
It sounded like it was coming from this way.
Was that you making the low thumping noises? Do you hear that? We've heard that there's a lot of activity of strange occurrences here.
Did you hear that? The thumping.
It sounded like it was coming from this way.
Was that you making the low thumping noises? I heard, like, a low "dnh, dnh, dnh.
" I heard that, too.
Do you hear that? I heard something go.
Head straight to the crate room immediately.
I just heard a motion-sensor alarm.
There's nobody in there.
The motion sensor's on camera.
Is somebody down here? I got you guys on I.
R.
Something within this area moved.
There's obviously something down here.
All right, Devin.
We're gonna put this motion sensor back up and head down to the gurney room.
Okay, that sounds good.
There is a lot of dust being kicked up right now in the gurney room.
By one of the gurney benches.
There is just a ton of dust, all of a sudden, being kicked.
The camera just tipped like 4 or 5 inches.
Shine your flashlight at the one.
Yes, that one.
That one got tipped over.
There was absolutely no one over here.
I got to show you guys this on playback when you get back.
It.
.
Something pushed it.
I'm gonna go back to Devin.
Let me know if anything else happens in here, okay? All right.
Will do.
Hey, Devin, I'm gonna head over to the doll room and conduct an EVP session.
All right, sounds good.
All right.
If there's anybody in here with me right now, just give me a sign of your presence.
So, I was in there conducting an EVP session.
I looked up, and this is what I saw.
What?! That's creepy as all hell.
That is cool! So, wait.
This doll was, like, what? Hung on a nail and spinning or something? In this doll room, the dolls fly off the shelves, reportedly.
Now, remember, there's no outside wind affecting this in any way.
It's completely closed in.
That is really crazy.
Considering all the evidence and the experiences you guys had.
What's your take on the Baxter Morgue? My end conclusion is that the photo, I believe, was misidentified.
It was probably motion blur.
But the video.
.
You know, yeah, we showed that a chair could be pulled over in the same way.
But considering everything else that we experienced.
There might be actual poltergeists and paranormal activity there in the morgue.
You know, the camera being knocked over, the motion sensors going off.
.
I really do think there's a lot more going on there.
I'm gonna say haunted.
Guys, you know I'm a skeptic.
But.
.
I can't explain everything that happened to us.
.
That night at the Baxter Avenue Morgue.
I think the evidence that you guys gathered validates the original video with the chair.
- That's my take on this.
- I agree.
But excellent job, guys.
