The A-Team (1983) s02e23 Episode Script
Curtain Call
NARRATOR: In 1972, a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a miIitary court for a crime they didn't commit.
These men promptIy escaped from a maximum-security stockade to the Los AngeIes underground.
Today, stiII wanted by the government, they survive as soIdiers of fortune.
If you have a probIem, if no one eIse can heIp and if you can find them, maybe you can hire the A-Team.
[Theme music.]
-Thanks a lot, pal.
-All right.
We were right, Captain.
The clerk lD'd Smith from his photograph.
-He came in less than an hour ago.
-Did he say what Smith wanted? He wanted to know where he could lay his hands on Russ Clayton.
[Grunting.]
Hut! Hey, fool, this ain't no football game.
You see, Clayton, that's what happens when you try to run somebody out of the cattle business and burn their barn.
HANNlBAL: The pie you wind up in isn't necessarily an apple.
HANNlBAL: l love it when a plan comes together.
Watch out, Colonel! [Gunshot.]
HANNlBAL: Let me see how bad it is.
MURDOCK: Shoot, Colonel.
This little-bitty thing? Just a puncture wound in the oId fueI tank.
Don't you worry.
A few Iess miIes to the gaIIon, that's aII.
-Just what l need, one more hole.
-Get in the van.
MURDOCK: Feels like a finger's poking through my back.
MURDOCK: Did l get it in the front or back? lt's Decker.
l told you Col.
Decker saw us at that toll crossing this morning.
HANNlBAL: You were right.
Feel better now? HANNlBAL: Go, B.
A.
! [Sirens wailing.]
-Looks like we're too late, Colonel.
-Late? There's only one road in and one road out of this area.
The A-Team's not going anywhere.
Coordinate with our other units.
l want this entire area sealed off tight.
lf a gust of wind blows through here, l wanna know about it -and get me Maj.
Danton at Fort Travis.
-Right.
What do we do with this group, Colonel? Have the sheriff pick up this garbage and get them out of here, will you, Sarge? Maj.
Danton, Col.
Decker.
We found the A-Team.
Have your rangers fly out to rendezvous at my position immediately.
Boy, he's lost a lot of blood, Hannibal.
He's lucky he took it high or he'd have lost it all.
Hang in there, Murdock.
We'll get you to a doctor as soon as we can.
Don't you fret none about me, Colonel.
l got a lot of revs in the old engine left.
This is a pretty isolated area.
Who knows how far it is to the nearest doctor.
We can count on Decker to cut off our only way out.
-We may have to improvise.
-lmprovise? We interrupt this program to give you a special medical bulletin on the condition of H.
M.
Murdock your clubman flying high grooving and spinning at you where the air is thin and the little doggies.
[Howling.]
l'm okay, baby.
Are you okay? [Singing.]
Man is not talking right, Hannibal.
But now he really ain't talking right.
He's hurting bad.
Yeah.
l'm afraid he's getting an infection and then he'll get a fever, then we're in trouble.
We gotta find some place isolated, out of the way, off the highway.
We can lay him down, keep him still, make him comfortable.
Face, you're gonna have to scam it.
Start thinking.
FACE: Anybody in there? Anybody home? [Knocking on door.]
[Face groaning.]
ARTlE: Take it easy.
Take a chair.
ARTlE: There you go.
Easy.
l've been going on pure grit.
[Face groaning.]
l must have walked 20 miles to get here.
-Trouble you boys for a glass of water? -Sure.
Much obliged.
ARTlE: What happened to you? l have been looking for the big one only he found me.
Who found you? -Old Luke.
-Old Luke? A grizz.
Big, ugly, mean.
-l've been after him about a year.
-l told you there were bears up here.
Bears? We're not talking bears.
We're talking bears.
You think l got this from winking too much? No, sirree, Old Luke gave me that.
l'd show you boys what's under this patch only you fellas probably just had lunch.
Yeah, l'll tell you one thing.
lt's a good thing that Old.
-Luke.
-Luke, right.
didn't meet up with Richie and me because you are looking at two dead shots.
Listen, pilgrim, you better put the first one right in the old keyhole with Luke or you can forget about locking the door.
Folks call me Bear Claw Jones.
Catchy, isn't it? l go after the big ones.
l hunt them, l skin them l eat them.
[Laughing feebly.]
He eats them.
Artie Simmons and Richie Hauser.
Pleasure.
Here, you boys chew? He's out there somewhere big as day and twice as mean.
[lnhaling deeply.]
You can smell him out there in the woods hiding in the shadows, getting ready to pounce.
Sorry.
l gotta get me a 40-odd-44-odd-40.
[Artie whistles.]
Yeah, track him down.
Only this time l aim on collecting on that $10,000 reward they is offering for his hide.
$10,000? Certified check signed by the governor himself.
Yeah, put you right in the oId history books.
FACE: l gotta go.
Got a bear to notch.
[Groaning.]
l guess l'm weaker than l thought.
Take it easy, Mr.
Claw.
-Why don't you sit down and rest awhile? -No.
ARTlE: You've been through an awful lot.
Just sit down.
Rest.
Relax and get your strength back.
-You got plenty of time to go after Old.
-Luke.
-Right.
-Right.
Why don't you get yourself a couple of hours of sleep and you'll feel like a new man? -There you go.
-Sorry.
FACE: You're probably right.
ARTlE: Definitely.
There you go.
FACE: This is nice.
[Face groaning.]
Let's go.
[Artie laughing.]
Happy hunting! -Face, you're getting slow.
-Slow? Twelve minutes? Hannibal, l had to say hello.
Easy, now, don't move.
Wait.
Get your feet down first.
Up around me.
All right, now! That's it.
Take it slow.
[Murdock groaning in pain.]
Hannibal, l don't like the way he looks.
We gotta get that bullet out.
Get a pillow, will you, B.
A.
? lt's not the bullet l'm worried about.
B.
A.
: lt's not? HANNlBAL: No.
lt can sterilise itself, right in the barrel sometimes.
lt's the pieces of cloth it pushes in that usually starts the infection.
-Hannibal, here's the first-aid kit.
-Give me antiseptic.
TAWNlA: We don't have any.
Give me a big bandage.
TAWNlA: We're gonna need the antiseptic.
Hannibal, unless there's a back door out of this place, it's Decker's ball game.
Tawnia, hold this right here.
Easy.
See, we're right here.
The nearest medical facility is 40 miles south of here.
With Decker near, it might as well be 400 miles.
Wait a minute.
There's a ranger station about 15 miles east.
That means medical supplies.
-Lieutenant, you got it.
Take Tawnia.
-What do you want me to do? You will think of something.
We're on our way.
[Murdock singing incoherently.]
He's starting to get hot.
CRANE: We completely sealed off the area.
l want patrols searching the secondary roads.
Your men will cover Quadrant A.
Sgt.
Collins and his team will cover Quadrant B.
l want those cabins along the north ridge searched immediately.
CRANE: l'll get on it.
COLLlNS: Col.
Decker! DECKER: What is it, Sergeant? COLLlNS: Blood, sir.
lt's fresh.
None of Clayton and his men were wounded, sir.
Think it could be one of the A-Team? Let me see that map.
lf they have a wounded man with them, Colonel there are only two places where they can secure medical supplies.
River View Hospital, and the ranger station off Mill Basin Road.
Of course, they may try to contact Murdock at the V.
A.
Hospital.
Put a surveillance team on the hospital but don't let them move in on Murdock and scare them away.
Captain.
Have you ever wondered why the A-Team manages to slip past us? -They're good, sir.
-They're the best.
They think as one, feel as one and act as one.
But with a wounded man in their midst, they cease to be that.
The good of the unit becomes the good of an individual.
And that will be their undoing.
[Tense instrumental music.]
HANNlBAL: They'll take almost two hours to reach the ranger station going around Decker's roadblocks.
lf Decker don't grab them first.
That's the last of the bandages.
We're gonna need those supplies, Hannibal.
He's weak.
He lost a lot of blood.
-We gotta find a way to replace it, man.
-l know.
Me and this crazy man got the same kind of blood.
You remember that time when they gave me some of his blood? Made me talk crazy, but he saved my life.
Yeah, 'cause l remember we had to feed it to you drop by drop.
[Nostalgic instrumental music.]
HANNlBAL: B.
A.
, you lie still.
l'm warning you all for the last time, l don't want this sucker's blood in me.
It's gonna make me crazy just Iike him.
MURDOCK: lt's not gonna make you crazy, B.
A.
lt'll just make you mellow.
You can even room with me at the V.
A.
l'll have them bring in an extra bunk and you and l can watch the walls melt.
-Hannibal! -Lay off, will you, Murdock? Lay off what? This man has a chance for greatness.
My bodily fluids are in great demand by the finest minds of our time.
l give a fresh specimen to the V.
A.
every week.
MURDOCK: Worst that can happen is if he hears things he don't see and rhyme his words just like me.
HANNlBAL: [Narrating.]
I'm aII for the rhyming word but sometimes actions speak Iouder.
Murdock, how did l let you talk me into this? l don't know.
l have intermittent memory loss.
We've got a break situation here.
Give us a lockdown and sound the alarms.
[Alarm sounding.]
Great, Murdock! [Murdock whooping.]
[Adventurous instrumental music.]
MURDOCK: lsn't this great, Colonel? MURDOCK: What a view! HANNlBAL: l love it, Murdock.
lt's like having wings.
MURDOCK: Wings, Colonel, you've got wings.
Red Carpet flight 86 now ready for boarding.
All passengers holding tickets will now be on board.
Got some structural weakness in the wing struts and it won't hold if you do any aerobatics.
Remember, keep an eye on the silks.
lf it starts to shred, take it down.
l didn't know you cared, sweetheart.
-Thanks, B.
A.
-Don't thank me.
Just keep it off the trees.
Get this bird off the ground.
That guy's sweating bullets.
l will find civilisation, muchacho.
l will bring back reinforcements.
[Murdock singing.]
The man is crazy.
Yeah, but it's a good kind of crazy.
B.
A.
: [Narrating.]
Crazy man can fIy a pIane, but never knew where he was going.
Girl, take it easy now.
HANNlBAL: What's wrong? MURDOCK: We're out of juice.
We're going down, boy.
MURDOCK: You never get good gas mileage in the city.
You got a map that covers the entire county? Fill her up, high-octane.
All right, l'll do it.
B.
A.
: [Narrating.]
You couId aIways count on Murdock to do the unexpected.
[Engine faltering.]
MURDOCK: Knock it off, you guys! Are you having a problem, Murdock? lt's hard to tell with these.
With these? What do you mean? Where did you get this plane, Face? -Face didn't scam it.
l did.
-What? Well, l had to con the passport people.
Murdock, where did you get this bird? l clipped it off the rental plane repair line.
lt would be ridiculous for me to assume that it'd been fixed.
lt wasn't fixed.
They'd start to miss them once they're fixed.
-You gotta get them before they're fixed.
-Of course.
Murdock, what's gonna happen? Looks like we're gonna crash.
Come on.
Really, what's going to happen? lt looks like we're gonna crash and die.
Four thousand feet and dropping.
There's just one parachute.
l'll jump and go for help.
Too low.
Too late to jump.
Find a comfy little spot and hold on.
[Adventurous instrumental music.]
[lntense instrumental music.]
MURDOCK: [On P.
A.
.]
Ladies and gentIemen, that concIudes your fIight.
Thank you for fIying MiracIe AirIines, the onIy airIine where Iady Iuck is your co-piIot.
Hannibal, you better get out of here.
You better leave me, man.
[Soft instrumental music.]
HANNlBAL: Captain we go out together, or we don't go out at all.
HANNlBAL: l want you to rest.
MURDOCK: You gotta.
Feels cool.
l better check the perimeter.
You heard the man, sucker.
We're a team.
We go out together.
[Nostalgic instrumental music.]
Looks like we won't be flying.
[B.
A.
chuckling.]
[B.
A.
choking.]
How did l do? B.
A.
: [Narrating.]
I might've passed out from the hamburger, but I got my revenge.
but l was thinking of swimming right on up the coast someday and then surfing right on in and saying hey.
Shut up, fool.
You ain't no fish.
Oh, yeah? l can pucker up like one.
Besides, l like them fish vibes.
l tell you, they got something real peaceful going on down there.
Right, Therm, my man? Listen, Murdock, l'm sick and tired of your dead lobster and your dumb vibes.
MURDOCK: Cut it out, B.
A.
Just because Therm has been reduced to a claw, don't mean he ain't got no vibes.
B.
A.
: Gotta teach this sucker a lesson.
Now, B.
A.
, let's be rational.
We must behave like grown men.
Like civiIised aduIts.
The man said, ''Give the man a break,'' so give me a break! B.
A.
: How about l give you a ride? You want to be like the fish so much, why don't you join them? [Comical instrumental music.]
He did it! l don't believe he did it! -Now, vibe on that, sucker! -Vibe on that? [Sombre instrumental music.]
Face, do you think Murdock will be all right? He's Iost so much bIood.
Damn.
Murdock, he's tough, like a piece of rawhide one that's just got out of therapy.
Yeah, he's got the kind of strength that counts.
FACE: Don't you worry about Murdock.
A few weeks, and he won't be able to distinguish reality from breadsticks.
He's quite a guy.
We sure ran a lot of scams together.
[Narrating.]
There was a certain eIoquence, a poetry to the man.
[Moran coughing.]
Good afternoon, gents.
What can l do for you this afternoon? -Morey Moran? -Yes.
Then l can assume that these are your initials on this purchase order.
-M.
M.
? -Yes.
What are you doing? Calling Headquarters to tell them we're questioning the suspect.
Suspect? Wait a minute-- You have already conceded, sir, that your initials are on the document.
Please do not complicate matters by perjuring yourself.
Look, l don't have to stand here and take this from a.
Who are you guys, anyway? That's Colonel Bradley Lexington, Salisbury Explosives and Arms Control.
l'm Edmund Morris, United Nations attaché to Zulabwe.
l ain't done nothing wrong.
Why don't you go put somebody else's knickers in a twist? MURDOCK: We are not amused.
MURDOCK: On 16 December, 1982, this establishment sold to the Parker Construction Company.
Do you concur? So what? l'm a supply store.
But-- To continue, said dynamite was defective and a premature explosion caused the untidy demise of 22 workers employed to renovate the bridge at Breaker Pass.
How do you respond to that? By saying that's bloody impossible 'cause there ain't no bridge over Breaker Pass, that's why.
ldiot! There is no need to brutalise the Queen's English along with your other crimes, which now include impugning a loyal subject of Her Royal Majesty! Come on, you guys must be kidding.
l sell good stuff here, and everyone knows it.
Don't make me laugh.
No kippers, no English herringbone tweeds, no meat pies no Rolls-Royce petrol caps no original pressings of Hey Jude.
You, sir, are a miserable excuse for a shop keep.
And l don't see any state seals or shipping dates on any of these.
Mr.
Moran, you're not buying this on the black market, are you? l bought this stuff all legal, and you can bank that at Barclays.
Then where are the state seals? We're gonna have to confiscate this as contraband.
FACE: Colonel Lexington, could you give me a hand, please? -Delighted.
-No, look.
FACE: [Narrating.]
Of course, there were the visits to the V.
A.
HospitaI.
[Singing.]
[Beeping.]
-Hi, Murdock.
-l was practically to the meteor shower.
Time to go.
Bye-bye.
The magic word is ''tuberculosis.
'' [Coughing.]
[Coughing louder.]
Good Lord! Mr.
Murdock.
l don't remember him being like this.
FACE: Must've been incubating all this time.
FACE: Good thing the tests showed the infestation early.
FACE: l gotta get him to County General into quarantine.
County General? FACE: l'd like a complete list of the patients whom this Murdock has been in contact with.
He spends most of his time by himself.
l want my doggy, Billy.
What about my dog, Nurse? He's been in the same position for a month.
This man has a dog? No.
You see, there is no dog.
No, he's gone.
lt's too late, Doc! Look, l don't know if l should release him.
Mr.
Murdock is under care.
Nurse, if you wanna take responsibility for contaminating this entire ward maybe the entire wing, perhaps the entire hospital then by all means, l'll leave the patient with you.
But unless you have proper quarantine facilities available-- No, it's just that-- [Murdock coughing violently.]
Thank you.
And if this man has been eating in the cafeteria l want the dietician staff to be given full examination and, if necessary, shots.
-Hopefully, this thing can be contained.
-My dog Billy, tell me he'll make it.
NURSE: Feel better, Mr.
Murdock.
TAWNlA: Face, are you okay? Are you all right? What? -Are you all right? -Yeah, l'm fine.
l must have tuned out back there.
[Exclaiming worriedly.]
FACE: Decker.
Get these cars out of sight.
l want sentries posted.
A hundred yards out along that perimeter.
Come with me inside.
Face, we can't go in there.
Not with Decker and his men in that ranger station.
lt does present a challenge, doesn't it? COLLlNS: [On radio.]
We found tire tracks.
CouId be from the A-Team's van.
Half-mile north of the overpass.
l have you.
There's a cabin in the woods up ahead, sir, about 200 yards.
DECKER: I want it searched.
l'll have backup vectored to your position.
DECKER: You keep in touch.
COLLlNS: Yes, sir.
Don't shoot! We're tax accountants! l guess you guys are looking for Old Luke.
Right.
The grizzly? Maybe not.
l'm glad you laid that tripwire to warn us of those two suckers coming.
Looks like the ranger station's due west of here.
[Siren wailing.]
We gotta find Tawnia and Face on the way.
Duck! Looks like we're gonna be playing tag with Decker and his men all the way.
Don't give up, man.
l hate to disappoint Decker.
lt's so damaging to his psyche.
l don't care about his psyche, Hannibal.
l'm gonna damage this sucker with this.
-He's getting worse, Hannibal.
-l'll check the road.
[Solemn instrumental music.]
Hang tough, Murdock.
l ain't gonna let you down, buddy.
[Military instrumental music.]
Slow down, B.
A.
We gotta set him here.
That looks like a piece of shoring timber.
Stand guard, l'll be right back.
HANNlBAL: B.
A.
, come down here.
Found an abandoned mine.
Give me a hand.
[Suspenseful instrumental music.]
Slumming? Face, the uniform will never work.
Decker will recognise you the moment you walk in.
l don't know.
A little jewellery, maybe an ascot.
With just the right touch, it'll look terrific.
Face, are you listening to me? You go in there, and you'll be on the first flight to Leavenworth.
Without those medical supplies, Murdock is dead.
So it doesn't matter what the risk is, now, does it? And, like you said, the worst that could happen is l go to prison.
Not exactly my idea of a little fun in the sun but the hours are regular, the food's plentiful and there's plenty of starch in the shirts.
Besides, people very seldom look at what's right under their nose.
Right? COLLlNS: [On radio.]
Unit 14 to base, we've checked aII the perimeters.
No sign of anything, CoIoneI.
Over.
l want Baker and Charlie's squads to search all along the south shore.
And check out those old boathouses.
Out.
[Phone ringing.]
Capt.
Crane.
lt's Maj.
Danton, Colonel.
Yes, Major? Three hours? Good.
l'll arrange for helicopter transport to be waiting at the air base to fly you and your men in.
Come with me.
CRANE: Soldier.
CRANE: Get me Sgt.
Collins on the radio.
[Door closes.]
Face, you're amazing.
l can't believe you pulled it off.
Well, green always was my lucky colour.
DECKER: Any sign of them? COLLlNS: Negative.
All units are converging on my position.
We'll have a search pattern blanketing a radius of three miles around the cabin.
They can't have gotten very far.
Not with a wounded man.
They've got to be in that area.
We've had them in the area before, sir.
[Nostalgic instrumental music.]
DECKER: This is CoI.
Decker of the U.
S.
Army.
You are compIeteIy surrounded.
No kidding? Give yourseIf up or I'II fIush the whoIe buiIding and everyone inside of it right in the sewer.
MURDOCK: Sounds crazy! Decker is crazy.
You want me to start bIasting, Smith? -Well, Hannibal? -l'm thinking.
[Gunfire continues.]
Think faster, man! Hey, Decker, this is Smith.
You ought to cool out.
What if we have an innocent person in here? You come out or we come in.
And you're not gonna Iike it if we come in.
I'm giving you two minutes.
CRANE: lt's obvious they really have no choice.
With anyone but Col.
Hannibal Smith.
With him, nothing is obvious.
What can he do? We'll find out in about 40 seconds.
[Adventurous instrumental music.]
HANNlBAL: B.
A.
, turn left here.
-We got them now, sir.
-We've had them before.
-The bridge is out.
What are we gonna do? -Cross it.
Better put the hammer down.
Unless you want me to drive.
[Adventurous instrumental music continues.]
The bridge is just up ahead.
Where the A-Team becomes the B-Team.
They're crazy.
What's the matter, Decker? No guts? Enjoy it now, Smith! Enjoy it? l love it.
[Hannibal laughing.]
This time, it's checkmate.
CRANE: l just can't believe that one of the A-Team would just walk in here and take that medical kit out literally while we were standing around watching, Colonel.
lf l've learned anything about the A-Team, Captain, it's to expect the unexpected.
SOLDlER: Sir! [Beeping.]
The signal is coming in perfectly.
The homer in the medical kit will lead us right to the A-Team.
B.
A.
: He's burning up, Hannibal.
He'll die if we don't get him to a hospital and get that wound cleaned out.
l'll go back to the ranger station to try and find Face and Tawnia, get those medical supplies.
lf l don't, l'll bring back Decker.
B.
A.
Don't you ''B.
A.
'' me, fool.
l don't want no crazy man calling my name.
Always saying things to irritate me, dragging me on planes and l still owe you for the time.
[Nostalgic instrumental music.]
Do you think the patient is going to make it, Doctor? How you ever gonna make it in the outside world if you keep making a fool of yourself? l'm thinking about a career in medicine.
The only thing you should do with medicine is use it for your head.
-How much time do we have? -About half-tank.
[Loud rumbling.]
What's that? Sounds like noise.
[Whirring.]
B.
A.
: Say adiós.
MURDOCK: Don't! Do you wanna kill yourself? Till l gotta fly, l do! Hello? Hello in there.
B.
A.
, involuntary paralisation is one of the primary symptoms of panic anxiety so just try to breathe deep.
Okay, forget deep and just try to breathe.
[ln French accent.]
Trust me, l'm an expert in my field.
[Singing.]
Come on, man! Hannibal's got this whole thing locked down! MURDOCK: Okay, B.
A.
, if you can hear me, blink.
MURDOCK: Raise your eyebrow.
MURDOCK: Smirk.
Smile.
Wince.
Come on, B.
A.
! lf you stay like this they're gonna stand you in front of a bank holding a clock.
Come on, Murdock! l won't let you die, man.
You're my friend! Murdock, come on.
l was just playing about that crazy bit.
B.
A.
: Come on, buddy.
HANNlBAL: lt's all right, B.
A.
lt's gonna be all right.
Grab the light.
He's too weak to be moved.
We haven't got any choice.
l'll have to get that slug out and everything he took in with it.
TAWNlA: Hannibal, if you're not careful, you're gonna wind up killing him.
He knows what he's doing.
Vietnam was a great teacher.
We haven't got much time.
Decker's got this whole area covered.
lt won't take him long to find us.
[Sirens wailing.]
Less than five miles from here.
Yeah, l can feel it.
[Hannibal groaning.]
[Sirens wailing in distance.]
CRANE: There's an old mine entrance here! DECKER: Back off.
Smith, it's CoI.
Decker.
You're surrounded.
I want you and Peck and Baracus and Miss Baker, if she's in there to come out with your hands up.
You have 15 seconds.
l have a wounded man in there.
He needs immediate medical attention.
Move in.
Looks like you won, Colonel.
l'd say that was inevitable, wouldn't you? l want this man handcuffed.
DECKER: Turn around.
lnside.
-What's the matter with Peck here? -He's got some bad powder burns.
A gun exploded in his face.
And he's got a shoulder wound, real bad.
Check him, Sergeant.
l'm not in the mood for any tricks.
-He's in pretty bad shape, sir.
-He needs blood.
Have this man moved to the A-Team van.
You're not hit.
Why didn't you fight your way out? After you, Lt.
Col.
Smith.
l got that, Corporal.
Make sure the van doors are open.
Colonel, if you don't mind, we'd like to ride with Face.
He may not make it.
We'd like to be there just in case.
Put them in the van.
FACE: l'll drive, you watch the prisoners.
FACE: Okay.
[Adventurous instrumental music.]
What the.
Don't let them get away! [Murdock speaking gibberish.]
[ln foreign accent.]
l used to love visitors, Colonel.
l really do.
You sure you won't change your mind and stay for lunch? You see, we're having pickled zucchini skins salad with tapioca pudding stuffed with coconut flakes and topped with a stewed prune.
l love it.
l just love it.
lt would be in your best interest to help me find Smith and the others, son.
Sometimes they come in here to break you out.
[Chuckling softly.]
Lies.
Lies.
Unproven half-truths.
Dastardly rumours.
You see, it's them.
lt's them.
They are after me.
There they are right now, look, crawling up my leg.
Look at that.
l can't even go to picnics anymore without them following me.
[Sobbing softly.]
Oh, don't go.
Please don't go.
MURDOCK: l need you.
Colonel, l need you.
[Speaking gibberish.]
You know, you gotta hand it to Decker.
The man does try.
l'll give him an A for effort, but an F for results.
You wanna give me a hand and unbutton me, buddy? No way, fool.
You can pound yourself in the ground scratch your knees with your ears before l let you out of that.
B.
A.
, l thought we were friends.
MURDOCK: l thought you carried me through the woods looked into my pain-filled eyes and helped me rally my strength.
What you talking about, fool? l don't remember none of that.
You just a crazy man seeing things that ain't there.
[Sentimental country song.]
[Theme music.]
