So, let me get this straight.

Looks like it's about 15 feet offshore.

How big did it look? Big enough to show up on the sonar.
- What do you got? What do you got? - Jael, under the boat right now.
- Where? Where? - Right under the boat look off the stern.
Oh, my goodness! There's a flying saucer.
I'm getting a series of lights right there.
So, are you seeing what I am seeing? What the heck is happening? Hey.

Well, who wants to kick us off? Guys, I have a pretty awesome clip.
It comes all the way from Iceland.
Now, a local farmer who lives right off the shores of the Lagarfljot Lake captured video evidence of what looks like this odd serpentine creature undulating through the water.
And the locals are speculating that this is none other than the infamous Icelandic Worm Monster.
- Check that out.
- Look at that motion.
- That looks like a giant snake.
- Yeah.
How far away was the videographer when he filmed this? He said he was about 300 feet away.
Now, the interesting thing is this legend dates back to the 1300s.
There's never been such compelling footage as this.
"Destination Truth" had a case with this? - Yes.
- And Josh Gates went out there, right? - Sure.
- Maybe you could give him a call and, you know, kick around some ideas.
Maybe he'd even want to join us for the case.
You guys, I love this one.
It already has me sold.
I say we lock it in.

Well, let me tell you the case I brought.
So, this one comes from a remote part of Hawaii.
Now, a man reportedly was out combing the woods.
And he came across what he says appears to be an ancient city.
Ruins from an ancient city? It looks like a hand still.
I can see a face on that stone.
Ben, where's this located? He claims that he found this in a remote part of Hawaii.
But the landowner said, "yes, you could photograph the ruins.
" "But I forbid you to tell anyone where they are.
" An entire lost city? I mean, that's a pretty fantastic claim.
It is.
I mean, the whole idea raises some red flags for me because.
Hawaii in general is so well traversed, even the remote areas.
The reality is we don't have a location.
And that's one of the major criteria we need for a video.
Maybe we should just shelf it for now.
Bill, surprise us today.
What do you have? Okay.
I have a case that I've been fascinated with for years.

Stonehenge.
- Ooh.
- Yes.
Now, there's controversy on who actually could have built Stonehenge.
And what its purpose was, but take a look at this picture.
Just so you guys can see it again freshly.
Yeah, I've always thought that Stonehenge is just so massive.
It's quite inconceivable that people from an ancient civilization could have built it where it is.
And that's why, you know, some theorists claim that it was built either with the help of alien or even some sort of lost technology.
But I found a retired carpenter in Michigan.
That claims that he has unlocked the secret to the construction of Stonehenge.
And that just with a few people, we can move and lift these stones without any modern equipment at all.
- I'm in.
- I'm in.
Right now, I want to do this.
I think the real question is, how is it built.
And could we do it without machines? The outside stones.

Some of them weigh over 40 tons.
And they say they had to be transported from over 100 miles away.
If you guys want to get a little hint of what Wally does.
There's a little clip here that you can take a look at.

This would be a 10-ton stone.

I think we need to take a look at Stonehenge ourselves.

And see if we can use Wally's methods to erect our own three-stone structure.
That's insane.
So, that would basically challenge the theory that this is built by aliens.
Well, this would be very unusual for us.
- What does everyone think? - It's Stonehenge.

In 2008, Trevor Heasley was working as a maintenance man.
In a mental hospital in Norwalk, California.
Now, he was hearing disembodied voices, seeing shadows.
And just general creepiness while he was working there.

- So, he sets up his own camera to see if he can capture anything.
And he sent in this video.
Take a look.
- Whoa! - Oh, my gosh.
- No! - Oh! Now, take a look at this.
If we take this image and we zoom in on it.
Play it back again.

And you can see a distinct translucent person.
And then more shadow play.
Look at that.
Oh, my gosh! I hate to do this to you, Devin, but Trevor Heasley.
I had looked into this, and he also edits his own films.
And uh, puts them online so.

I would say that supports the idea that this was a composite overlay.
Well, as soon as you said "filmmaker.
" I'm out of it because it's a locked-off shot and it makes sense.

I think it's a challenge that we should take on.

What the (Bleep) Is that? Huge black shadow in the water and a huge wave coming off it! And not a lot lives in this water, so you have to ask yourself.

They're the leading experts on the subject.
They actually have an exhibit completely dedicated to the Lagarfljot Worm.

What can you tell us about that day? He woke up that morning and went to the kitchen and looked out the window.
Saw something in the river.
Where exactly in the river did you see the creature? It was behind the branch - where the white flag is.

And was the condition of the river like it is now? There were ice blocks floating in it, but it was not frozen.
Do you mind if we borrow your camera to use for our experiments? No problem.
Hjortur, thank you for allowing us to be here.

Well, why don't we start with taking a look at the video again? Look at the water down there.
Now look at the video.
The way the wind is blowing, it almost looks like the current is heading towards the shoreline.
You know, people are theorizing that it could be some.

Some branches or some trash that got caught in some netting.
It's just kind of snagged, and the current is what makes it look like it's moving like a serpent.
- Let's test it out.

There's plenty of stuff around here that we could use for our first experiment.

So, for the purposes of our experiment, we can use.

And we can drive it down into the riverbed.
And then we can attach our serpent to it and see how it reacts to the current.

We'll tie it off to your stake and let the current take it and see how it looks.

And then we're going to stitch the whole thing together and then tie it to the stake.
And hopefully, the current will take it and it will create that serpentine motion that we see in the original video.

Out of locally sourced netting and debris that's found on banks here.
Uh, I'm gonna go out in the water, stake this to the bottom of the riverbed.
And then we're gonna tie this to the facsimile of the creature.
And see if the current carries it along and see if we can re-create the movement that we see in the original video.

Look at that! Guys, you got it in the perfect spot.

It's going right out into that eddy.

I think I got it.
I'll come down for a side-by-side.
- Oh, my God.
Look that.
- You see that? First of all, it's in the exact right spot, which is great.
Look how it looks like the head is turning and looking in a direction and the body follows.
In a preliminary sense, it looks like a fairly decent match, actually.
It's facing the right way, too, and it would make sense.
If this was something that was carried by the current, it looks right for the motion.
The fact that it looks like it's turning directions and undulating.
Gives the illusion that it's moving forward.
In the video that he shot, we see a lot of current, - especially around the head.
- Yeah.
Coming off the front of it, and we weren't able to replicate that.
And, in fact, the amount of water kind of moving around it seems a lot stronger in the original video.
Maybe this thing is either alive or moving on its own motor, on its own volition.
Well, Devin, I think you just nailed it.
You said "motor.
" Right there.
We're talking a hoax scenario.
We can't manipulate all the variables unless we try the hoax scenario.
Let's get you guys dry, yeah? All right.

So, we were pretty pleased with the results of our last experiment, but we still didn't get an exact match.
So we're gonna move on to a hoax scenario.
- Okay.

It is possible that somebody perpetrated this by actually building some sort of mechanical serpent, yeah? Absolutely.
All right, so, the way we're gonna build this serpent.
We've got an R.
C.
boat that we're actually gonna fit inside the head of the serpent.
That will pull it forward.
We'll have some servomotors along the segments of the body.

That will make it move just like this.
Well, the boat should also create some sort of a wake.
You know, coming off the head.
We were missing that in the other experiments.
- Yeah.
- Theoretically.
So, Jael and Josh, if you guys want to get close to the water and launch it on our cue.
Then we'll release it and see what it does.
- Perfect.
- I don't have to get in the water - on this one? - No.
This is my favorite experiment.

I'm responsible for creating the body with chunks of foam.

It looks like it's actually making its way across the surface and fighting that current.
- Wow.
- Looks good, Devin! Guys, we got it! We're coming down! - All right, let's check out this footage.

- Whoa! - It looks really good.
- Does that not look alive? - Oh, my gosh.
- It really does.
First of all, it looks completely alive, and it also has a really similar movement.
- It's got that undulating motion.
- Yeah, it does.
Our creature is obviously extremely buoyant.
- Mm-hum.
Yeah right.
- But it's all above the surface.
Whereas what we're seeing here, it looks heavier.
It looks mostly underwater with just the very top of it breaking the surface.
- Right.
- And the texture is a bit different, too.
I think the gray paint and the camouflage looks really good.
But there is this element on the eyewitness video that's almost translucent, you know? There's areas of it that look uneven.
There's areas of it that look.

- Mm-hum.
- Almost see through.
Which could also be ice.
But the texture isn't an exact match.
So what are we left with? Some possibilities, but we're left with the lake.

Still needs to be explored.

You saw something you couldn't explain.
I say we do a full investigation.
Check it out on the water and off the water, see if we can come up with any evidence.

It's where I'm gonna be monitoring the entire lake with infrared cameras.
We have one camera pointing North.
One camera pointing South, and we have a camera at the vantage point.
Just in case we capture anything at this lake.
It's gonna be on one of these or with you guys.
Josh and I will be out on the lake.
I've actually gone out to the boat, and I've affixed an astroscope to the front of it.
I mean, if there is any splashing, ripples, or any waves out there.
We should be able to see it and hopefully document it with the astroscope.
We also have a fish-finder sonar on the boat, so it should be able to scan uh, the water beneath us.
And just to make it a little more interesting, we're actually gonna be dragging some bait, as well.
We've got some salmon.

Where? Where? - Right under the boat.
Look off the stern.
- How big did it look? Big enough to show up on the sonar.
As you know, we went to investigate the Lagarfljot Worm monster.
And on this one, we brought our friend Josh with us.
- That's right.
- Yeah.
We investigated in this town on "Destination Truth" a few years ago.
And so to be able to go back is something we don't get to do a lot.
So it was a lot of fun for me.
- I think we did pretty good.
Check it out.

I think our conclusion is that this most likely was just some debris that was caught, you know, in the river.
I feel the same way.
I think that was the most compelling re-creation.
And I think it most closely lined up to what we saw in the original video.
So, I mean, having said that, though.
We have hundreds of reports.
Very compelling stories saying they've seen something.
And we have Josh with us, who experienced something very strange on the lake when he was there before.
So we did a full night investigation.
I was over at base camp.
Ben was hiking on the shoreline with a thermal.
Josh and Jael set sail on the lake with some sonar.

To see if we could find this worm monster.
I got a hit.
- I see this thing sort of pacing with me.
- Mm-hmm.
Kind of flipped out for a second until I realized it was a plastic bag.
- Nice.
Okay.
- Man.
In terms of actually being out on the lake.

It was cold.
It was choppy.
It was pretty difficult going out there.
We weren't having a lot of luck, and then out of nowhere.

Uh, we got this really crazy hit right underneath the boat on the sonar system.
- Check it out.
- That's crazy.
There it is.
You see that? Oh! Yeah, we actually had a really hard time seeing anything with the naked eye.
And it wasn't until later, when we went back and reviewed the footage from the astroscope camera, which was mounted on the bow, that we found something else.
- Check this out.
- What? Let's see.

I don't know.

- That looks like the shadow.
- I see that.
Couldn't that just be shadows maybe playing off the wakes in the lake? It could be shadows, but I think there's something alive down there.
Austin, to answer your question, you know, the thing is that when we see saw this shadowy mass, it corresponded with the hit on the sonar.
When I was there before, we also thought we saw something on the lake.
Something really big right at the surface.
But I think there is certainly the possibility, though, for, you know, the appearance of something alive.
It could be debris.
That's certainly a possibility.

Fact or Faked? In terms of the creature itself? There's still a big question mark hanging over this for me.
There's something down there.
I think that this video footage.

Misidentified, faked.
Is there something living in the lake? Fact.
As far as the legend, I'm on the fence about that one.
You know, I think you guys showed with your debris experiment and with the bag that almost attacked you.
Honestly, the video we're looking at is probably just misidentified.

For an up-close look at Stonehenge itself.

We're in Wiltshire, England, to visit one of the most mysterious and famous structures ever built.

The civilization that built it had no written records.
So the actual origin and purpose of Stonehenge was completely lost.
It's believed by many that the people that were alive when these monuments were built just simply didn't have the technology to construct Stonehenge.
And when they say they didn't have the technology to do it.

The theory of maybe extraterrestrial came into play.
They say maybe they had either extraterrestrial help or maybe even the aliens themselves built it.
The fact that Stonehenge sits on a place known as ground zero for crop circles.
Helps keep the site's paranormal history alive.
Now, we're about to meet with Julian Richards.
Now, he's an archeologist that has extensive knowledge about the theories concerning how Stonehenge was built and why it was built in the first place.

What are some of the theories as to the purpose of Stonehenge? There are three, I suppose, very distinct ideas.
Firstly, that it's a place of burial.
There are suggestions, as well.

That the blue stones were brought from wales because it was believed that they had healing powers.
The one thing that is absolutely certain is that it is to do.

With the changing seasons and the movement of the sun.
And I'm curious.
I mean, these stones are massive.
How did they get them here? We don't honestly know.
We tried shifting something that size a few years ago.
We made it out of concrete.
It took us 140 people to move it because it's so massive.
So, I mean, back in medieval times.

It was Merlin the wizard that flew the stones from Ireland.
Some people have, you know, looked at extraterrestrial influences and thought, you know, "how could primitive people have moved and erected stones like this?" It must be built by some outside forces.
All we can do is experiment.
And, that's kind of what brings us here.
We're actually gonna take off and go to Michigan.
And we're gonna try to replicate one of the most monumental pieces of Stonehenge.

What inspired you to try to replicate the construction of Stonehenge? I just wanted to find out how it was possible for uh.

So, Wally, why don't you walk us through the steps required to actually build Stonehenge? Okay, first off, we got equipment blocks with a fulcrum so we can walk them around.
- Over any sort of terrain at all? - Yeah.
What you're doing is placing all the weight on a fulcrum.
And uh, moving the mass, and the mass is real easy to move.
It's just weightless.
Once you get the stones to the location where you're gonna build it, what's the next step? Uh, we're gonna have to make up a Herodotus machine.
A machine the Egyptians used for raising their blocks.
It just holds everything in place.
What you're doing is placing all the weight on a fulcrum.
And just shift weight by adding weight to one point, to the other, and then adding a slat to each side.
- So, you would tip, and then shore it.

And then tip it the other way, and shore it, and you slowly raise it with this method.

Slowly raise it one side to the other.

And you can raise virtually any weight using this? Correct.

So in order to re-create the same environment.

When you think about the mystery of Stonehenge, there's so many questions as to how.
Well, first off, where do the stones come from, right? - Yeah.
- Well, research has shown the stones come from about With that, I think the first challenge that we should really tackle would be, how did they actually transport the giant monoliths from one location to where Stonehenge is now? I think we should do a little experiment.

By using fulcrums and applying weight to one side.

Now, if we use two fulcrums about 13 inches apart.
That'll allow us to pivot the slab and move it any direction we want.

- Okay? And since the people that actually built Stonehenge would have used stones as fulcrums.
For safety purposes, we're gonna go with this metal plate.
Because if the fulcrums break, someone could get seriously hurt out here.

This is one of two steel fulcrums that we're gonna be mounting underneath this 20-ton slab.
This will greatly reduce the amount of surface area in contact with the ground and allow us to pivot the slab and move it any direction we want.

Switch it to the second fulcrum point, and every time we do a 360-degree turn.

We move 13 inches closer to our final destination.
Woo! Yeah! Is this is how they did it? We can't prove that.
But we can prove that with ancient technology.
Using only what they had at their own fingertips.

We're able to move stones of a large stature.

In order to actually raise this stone up.
We're gonna have to use the Herodotus machine.
So, we'll get the second piece, put it on this side.
So that way it's on both sides of the stone.
And every time it goes up to one side, we're gonna be able to use wood slats.
There's gonna be a little space.
We could put the wood slats in there.
Switch the weight to the other side, teeter it back up.
There will be a little more space.
Put wood slats in until we eventually climb it till we get it to the height we need.

So, the wood is basically going to support the weight of the post.
And when the post gets to about three feet.

But if we can't control this, there's absolutely no way of stopping it once it starts.
So we have to be pretty precise with this.

First thing we have to do is disassemble this machine, get it out of the way.

And we'll start hiking this thing up to the top until we get it in position and set it on top.
Well, we got the lintel in place in the Herodotus machine.
But there's one more component that we need in order to have the leverage necessary to raise this piece.
And that's that plank right behind you.

- That's gonna be an extension that we're gonna attach so the counterweights will have the leverage necessary so we can raise the post.

So uh, this is where the rope comes into play here, right? I mean, I could jump up there and pull it down, but I'm off the clock.
You know what I mean? So we can use the rope to actually pull this down for us.

We are almost there, but one of the hardest tasks still remains.
And that's getting the lintel on top of the two posts.

Then we have to disassemble the top of the Herodotus.
So that we can then spin the lintel in place.
If all goes well, we'll have completed the trilithon.
