The phone number is like an address that tells us where to send the ones and zeroes.
But how do you know where to find the phone when people are always moving around? Yeah, it's like a vast universe out there.

Don't worry, Bang! That cell phone, like all cell phones, is constantly sending out tiny signals called "pings" to nearby cell towers.
The pings tell the cell towers where to find that phone, and the cell towers tell us, so we can pass along the ones and zeroes.
Whoa! You have to do that for every call? We sure do, Bing.
This process is done over and over and over and over again, faster than you can blink an eye, instantaneously connecting people all around the world.
- Whoa! Awesome! - Instantaneous! I like that! So, what happens to the ones and zeroes when they reach the other phone? Hmm, well, to be honest we're so busy sending and receiving signals, I don't really know.

Those sound waves enter your phone and move a tiny magnet back and forth! When the magnet moves, it changes the electrical current - running through a wire! - And a microprocessor records those changes as one and zeroes.
Next, the ones and zeroes are beamed out of your phone to nearby cell towers using radio waves! Cell towers pass it along to switching stations.
And switching stations make sure the ones and zeroes get sent to the phone you're calling.
When the radio waves enter that phone, the whole process gets reversed, man! A microprocessor uses the ones and zeroes to create electrical signals! Those signals move a magnet that make a speaker cone bounce.
And that bouncing cone creates sound waves that are exactly the same as the ones spoken in the other phone! And when those sound waves are heard by the person you're calling [all.]
