Departure (2019) s03e01 Episode Script

The Tempest

1

(RUMBLING)
- First crossing?
- Oh, yes, Captain.
Don't let the icebergs intimidate you.
They are really quite majestic.
Yeah. I guess they are.
I hope you're not
worried about the weather.
Oh, no. The um
Should I be?
We're gonna hit a little
rough patch later but trust me,
that's part of the fun.
(LAUGHS)
Might be wiser to get off the deck.
Warmer and dryer inside.
Of course.
Thank you, Captain.
- (THUNDER RUMBLING)
- Okay.
- Are you coming?
- Yeah. Yeah.
Yeah, okay, okay, I'm coming!
There's no running on this ship.
- Yeah, yeah. I
- It's against regulations.
Right, good to know. Thanks.

Environment Canada just
issued an overnight warning.
Storm's shifted, it's
headed straight our way.
50 knots. Should we alter course?
Keep her fast and steady,
first mate Sullivan.
- Aye, sir.
- Officer Hicks, deploy the stabilizers.
Let's make sure the
passengers don't find out
what it's really like to be at sea.
Aye, aye, Captain.
(INDISTINCT CHATTER)
(WOMAN ON PA): Passengers
are reminded that returning
to your vehicles during the
crossing is strictly prohibited.
Hey, what's up?
(INDISTINCT CHATTER)
Hold on.
(TENSE MUSIC)
You sure?
Don't worry, I can handle it.
Arlo!
You can't be here!
Arlo!
(MACHINERY HUMMING)
Oh!
Haven't found your sea legs yet, huh?
No, apparently not.
You don't have this problem?
I used to work on cruise
ships way back when.
- Yeah?
- I'm Nina.
And this social media
whiz is my daughter, Jada.
Susan. Pleased to meet you.
- So, what takes you to Newfoundland?
- Oh
- Oh, I didn't mean to pry.
- No, it's okay.
It's, um, I
(SIGHS) I'm trying
to break an old habit.
- (COUGHS)
- Oh, are you okay?
Yeah, I'm, uh
Sorry.
Ty, I gotta take Solo for a walk.
Okay, but be careful.

Winds are at 55 knots
and increasing, Captain.
Yeah. I'm headed to the engine room.
That lube pump is acting up again.
- Wait. Captain.
- Just keep her on autopilot,
hold her steady until I
get back. That's an order.
Yes, Sir.
(WOMAN ON PA): Garrison
Ship Lines welcomes you
to enjoy a gourmet dinner
Mom, I don't feel so good.
Then stop texting.
(EXCLAMATIONS)
- Why don't you go lie down?
- No. No way.
It'll just make it worse.
I'll go find some Dramamine. Stay here.
(INDISTINCT CHATTER ON PA)
(TENSE MUSIC)
(THUNDER RUMBLING)

Queen of the Narrows, this
is Harbour Cove Coast Guard.
- Do you copy?
- (JESSICA): I copy.
The region to your north has been
upgraded to severe storm warning.
Roger that, Coast Guard.
Chief Officer Hicks here.
We're aware of the situation
and we're monitoring it closely.
(COAST GUARD): Suggest
you delay your turn
by 50 kilometres to avoid
the most severe sector.
Thanks, but, uh, Captain's
given us our orders,
we're going to stick to the course.
Queen of the Narrows out.

Jessica!
(PEOPLE SCREAMING)
(METAL CREAKING)
- (INDISTINCT CHATTER ON PA)
- What the hell?
Captain Turner, do you copy?
I don't understand
what's happening here.
Captain Turner, do you copy?
(MAN ON PA): This is
anemergency. This is not a drill.
Life jackets should be
put on as soon as possible.
All crew and passengers
to muster stations.
(SCREAMING)
- (ALARM)
- We're taking on water!
- The engines are failing, Jess.
- Mayday, Mayday, Mayday.
This is the Queen of the Narrows
requesting immediate assistance.
- Mayday, Mayday.
- Queen of the Narrows,
this is Harbour Cove Coast Guard.
Coast Guard, we are listing hard.
We are taking on water. I
need all ships in the vicinity.
- Do you copy?
- Queen of the Narrows,
this is the USS Alameda.
We're on our way.
- (GRUNTING)
- This is not a drill.
(INDISTINCT CHATTER)
(ALARM BLARING)
(SHIP CREAKING)
- How far up to the lifeboats?
- Three more decks.
We're never going to
get through this way.
I don't want to leave
Jada up there alone!
There has to be another way!
(SCREAMING)
(ALARM BLARING)
(TERRI-LYNN): All ships, all ships:
this is the coast guard
responding to a Mayday.
Terri-Lynn!
- What's going on?
- It's the Queen of the Narrows.
Your brother's still
on the bridge, right?
Queen of the Narrows,
what's your status?
(INDISTINCT RADIO CHATTER)
This is OSC. You're going
outbound Harbour Cove.
(PANICKED SCREAMING)
(GRUNTING)
- What do we do now?
- An engineer once told me
if you can't go up,
you go down.
Down?! Are you sure?
(INDISTINCT CHATTER ON PA)
Mayday, Mayday, Mayday.
This is Queen of the Narrows.
Coast Guard, do you copy?
Queen of the Narrows
this is the coast guard.
All vessels have been notified.
We are evacuating ship.
Queen of the Narrows out.

Go!
Everyone, go! Go!
Tyler! Tyler!
(ON PA): This is an
emergency. This is not a drill.
(SCREAMING)
Solo!
- No!
- Come on!
- Come on!
- Right through to the safety boats.
Right to the safety boats.
Hold on to a railing if you can.
Let her down!

Annie, do you copy? You're
approaching the coordinates now.
Copy that.
I can't believe what I'm seeing.
I've got people in rafts,
the waves are too big.
I We need support. We need
support, more support boats.
Queen of the Narrows, this is
the Harbour Cove coast guard.
Do you copy?
(RADIO STATIC)
Queen of the Narrows,
Queen of the Narrows,
this is the Harbour Cove
coast guard. Do you read?
(BANKS): Coast Guard, this is
Captain Banks. What is her status?
(RADIO STATIC)
I've just lost the Queen on the radar.
Copy that.
We're gonna need all hands on
deck for a search and rescue.
(SOFT MUSIC)

(REPORTER): With the storm
having passed hours ago,
local boats have joined the
coast guard and U.S. Navy
off the coast of Newfoundland
in a desperate attempt
to rescue survivors
of the Queen of the Narrows.
People around the world
are waiting anxiously
as the FTSA begins its investigation.
(SIREN BLARING IN THE DISTANCE)
Kendra, we got here just ahead of you.
Theo. Glad to have you back. Michelle,
- welcome to the team.
- Hi.
The Coast Guard's given us
space to set up in their command
and I've started registering survivors.
- How many so far?
- Um, just under 200.
Right. And how many on the manifest?
- 490
- 493, including crew.
So, almost 300 people still missing.
Mr. Hayes!
Mr. Hayes, Commander
Terri-Lynn Crawford,
- Harbour Cove Coast Guard.
- Nice to meet you.
- Call me Dom.
- Rest of the FTSA team's just up here.
Great. What's the
situation on the water?
Reports are that most of
the passengers were still
in their cabins when the storm hit.
There was very little time for
them to get to the lifeboats.
Yeah. The ferry's radar
went dead just 32 minutes
- after the initial Mayday.
- 32 minutes?
- That's fast.
- Really fast.
Dom!
Thanks for getting here so quickly.
Glad I was on this
side of the pond. Theo.
- Dom. Ah, Michelle, Dom.
- I'm the new victim liaison.
Nice to meet you. So,
the, uh, Canadians,
they've agreed to give us
lead on the investigation?
Yeah. It's a U.S. ferry line.
Most of the passengers
are American tourists,
so Ottawa's agreed to step back.
U.S. Navy vessel was one
of the first on the scene,
so we'll be coordinating
with them, as well.
Can you ask the Navy Captain
to get in touch with us?
Will do.
32 minutes. No matter what
happened on that ferry,
it shouldn't have sunk that fast.
Not by any stretch. A vessel like that?
It should've stayed on the
surface for hours, if not days.
What about the ferry
captain? Did he survive?
The Coast Guard told me that
the captain left the bridge
for the engine room before the crisis.
He's He's presumed lost.
- He left before?
- Yeah.
Who's the most senior
officer to survive?
Uh, Chief Officer Jessica Hicks.
- She called in the Mayday.
- Okay. Let's go talk to her.
- Chief Officer Jessica Hicks?
- Yeah.
Ah, Kendra Malley, Dom
Hayes from the FTSA.
Are you all right if we
ask you some questions?
- Yeah.
- We heard the captain left the bridge to go below.
- Do you know why?
- Trouble with the boiler.
I don't I don't
know if it burst, or
I couldn't get a hold of
him, or anyone down there.
- Leaving you in sole command of the bridge.
- Yeah.
I took my scheduled turn
north towards St. John's
and then all of a sudden
there was this large bang.
Like an explosion?
I don't know if there was ice
under the water, or something,
but it shook the whole ship.
I shouldn't have made that turn.
I grew up in these waters, Jess.
Haven't seen anything this bad
before. We should skip the turn.
The Coast Guard told me
to delay it and I didn't.
- I had my orders.
- From the Captain?
How long have you been chief officer?
(SIGHS)
Six weeks.
I should've been the one
going down with the ship.
But first mate Dave.
He threw me in a lifeboat.
- There's room for one more!
- I stay until the end.
Marry me if we get out of this, okay?
- What?
- You heard me.
Get in!
No one should ever
go down with the ship.
You saved lives out there.
Kendra, Dom? The
eyewitness to the ship's
sinking, Annie Sullivan,
is down this way.
Okay, um, somebody will
look after you, okay?
- Okay.
- I'm so sorry.
- (THUNDER RUMBLING)
- Dave!
It's okay! I'll make it.
- She's just down there.
- Kendra, I'm going to go set up the command centre.
- Call me if you need anything.
- Sure.
Setting sail with a faulty
boiler and a bad weather report,
that could be viewed as negligence.
Yeah. We need to ask Theo to track down
the owner's maintenance reports. See
what else was wrong with the ship.
Annie Sullivan?
Kendra Malley.
I understand that you saw
the ferry before it sank?
No. I saw her lights once or
twice through the waves maybe
and then I had to turn around.
(SIGHS) Look, I gotta get back out there.
Her brother's still
missing. He's the First Mate.
Uh, Dave. Yeah, I just spoke
to Chief Officer Jessica Hicks.
She says that he pushed
her in a lifeboat.
Sounds like Dave.
Tell her not to worry. I'll find him.
- Come on, my love. Come on.
- Uh, here. Let me help.
- Let's get you off. Here, I'll take this.
- Oh, oh, oh.
- Got you, got you.
- Careful, careful.
Her name's Jada.
Pulled her out of the water half-frozen.
I have no idea how she survived.
She was just floating on the surface.
An angel saved me.
He came up from below.
It had wings.
My mom's gone, isn't she?
Look, you're, you're
safe now, all right?
She went down below to
the cabin, just before.
Because of me.
It's okay. It's all
right, it's all right.
It's all right.
She did work on ships.
She might've found a way out, right?
Uh, maybe I can I can try and
find her. Could you tell me her name?
- Nina Collins.
- All right.
Why don't we get you checked out?
Let's go to somewhere warm. Come on.
Come on.
(HUBBUB)
Hi, uh I'm sorry. I
What can I help you with?
Do you know where they're, uh,
where they're taking the dead?
Oh, we don't We can't release
that information just yet,
- but if you just
- Forget it. I'll find it myself.
Survivors all say the same thing.
Yeah. There was a bang and then
the ferry immediately began to list.
30 minutes later it was gone.
We need to get in touch
with that navy captain.
Yeah. See if he actually
saw the ferry go down.
What do you think of the girl's story?
About being saved by a spectral being?
I don't know. I think she saw something,
but something her mind
can't quite grapple with.
(WOMAN): Where is she?
I need to speak with her.
- You're the investigator, right?
- Yeah.
'Cause I know who did this.
I know who sank that ferry.
- Um, who did it?
- Arlo Shank.
I saw him creeping
below deck last night.
Hey! Arlo! Arlo!
(ARLO): They should have listened to me.
You'll be sorry one day.
This ship's going down!
(REPORTER): Ships worked through
the night to rescue survivors,
but the numbers look bleak, currently,
with only half the ship's
passengers accounted for.
Investigators believe
there is little chance
for remaining survivors in
the frigid Atlantic waters.
Meanwhile, Garrison Ship Lines,
owner of the Queen of the Narrows,
offered condolences and prayers
to the families and
friends of the victims.
You can be sure we plan
to fully co-operate.

Hey! Um, you have the list of
people who got rescued, right?
Yes. Oh, well, some of them.
- Um, who are you looking for?
- Uh, my boyfriend.
Um, Tyler Lupinski.
Just, uh
Huh. He's not on the passenger list.
Be careful.
Keep your eyes out.
- What's your name?
- Oh! You know what?
It's okay. Don't
Don't worry. It's fine.
No, no. If there's people left off
this list, we do need to know that.
You know, why don't you
come with me and we can
No, um, really, it's okay.
Uh, don't tell anybody, okay?
Are you in trouble?
Hey, it's okay. My job here
is to help the survivors.
That's it.
I promise you can talk to me.
Tyler wanted to come back home.
We just didn't have any money.
You snuck on.
I left him in the car deck.
Now I lost them both.
Solo!
Just, they'll send me back
to Guatemala if they find out.
I don't have my papers.
It's okay. I won't tell.
Here
Here, take my card.
And check in with me, okay?
Uh, here.
- Oh. No, no.
- No, it's okay. It's okay.
- Here.
- Thank you.
- Yeah.
- Thank you.
- There's food. Stay warm, okay?
- Thanks.

- Hey.
- Kendra. Hey.
We're just finishing setting up in here.
Is, uh, Coast Guard okay
with lending us the space?
Yeah, Terri-Lynn was
saying that the space
is predominantly used
for training purposes
and they're between sessions,
so we should be good.
Okay, great. Thanks.
Is this a satellite image of the ferry?
Yeah. It's from minutes before it sank.
That's the Queen of the Narrows there.
And those are icebergs?
Yeah, so the ferry has to cut through
what they call iceberg alley.
(DAVE): What the hell just happened?
Now, the largest, surface-level ones,
they're visible on radar.
But the ice below the surface,
it's almost impossible to
detect, even for the ships.
The ferry's last Mayday signal
has it sinking right there.
It cut through the eye of the storm.
Apparently. Yeah.
Anyway, um, I'm just about
to run some calculations
and the wreck's estimate
position on the ocean floor,
uh, taking the currents
and the storm into account.
- Uh, yeah.
- Okay.
Oh!
Did the, uh, ferry have
a voyage data recorder?
Yes. Uh, whether or not we can access it
depends on how the vessel
actually settled on the bottom.
Yeah. Yeah, we are going to
have to dive down at some point,
get a good look at the hull.
After search and rescue
operations are over, obviously.
Theo?
Uh, sorry. I was just distracted.
Uh.
How were the last few months?
Did they Did they do you well?
Absolutely. Yeah.
I'm feeling great.
Uh
Anyway, I better get the
tech team up and running, so.
- Hey.
- Dom.
That crew member's story checks out.
I got a picture of Arlo Shank here.
He was let go a couple months ago,
but he kept showing up for work, anyway.
He was let go and no one said anything?
Well, apparently, he
was a paying customer.
Some of the crew thought
well of him, others not,
but everyone agreed
- he was odd.
- Odd.
Odd in what sense?
That he was always wandering
around where he didn't belong,
taking pictures, as if he
was on some kind of mission.
- Is he still missing?
- Yes.
Lives here in Newfoundland
with his mother.
We should pay her a visit.
You sure you want me to
take co-lead with you?
Only if you think you're up for it.
Oh, come on. You practically
grew up on the sea, didn't you?
(BANKS): Kendra Malley?
Captain Coleman Banks, USS Alameda.
- Pleasure to meet you.
- Dom Hayes, FTSA.
Did you make it there in
time to see the ship go down?
Only lifeboats and people in the water
by the time we got there.
(SCREAMING)
We saved as many as we
could, but I don't understand
why that ship went down
so quickly. Was it ice?
- Possibly.
- No, that was an ice-class vessel, IAA.
Yes, exactly. It
should've ploughed through
anything it encountered
this time of year.
Though, with climate change, I mean,
the traditional seasonal
ice flow is changing rapidly.
- True.
- Uh, Captain Banks,
do you think your crew can collect
any debris they may come across?
We're setting up evidence holding here.
Absolutely. Consider the
Alameda at your disposal for
- as long as you need.
- That's much appreciated.
After what I witnessed this
morning, I'm not going anywhere.
- (PHONE VIBRATING)
- Sorry. I've gotta get this.
Kendra Malley.
Yes, of course. Sure.
Theo, you send a copy of that.
(INTRIGUING MUSIC)

Michelle asked around about Arlo.
Family's been here for five generations.
Mother was widowed
when he was just a kid
and everyone thought well of the father.
But not of Arlo, huh?
He was an odd kid, apparently.
You know, small towns, right?
Yeah, people either bind
together, or tear each other apart.
Same as everywhere, I suppose.
Ah, Margery Shank?
Arlo.
Is he gone?
Ah, there's, uh, there's no word yet.
We're just here to ask
some questions, Miss Shank.
Come in.
Arlo always loved boats,
even when he was little.
That job meant everything to him.
He must've been very
upset when he was let go.
What are you talking about?
I picked him up at the dock
last week, same as always.
- Uh, Mrs. Shank.
- Yeah?
Arlo was let go a few months ago.
- No.
- Maybe he was, uh,
- too embarrassed to tell you.
- No, he was not!
No, no, no. Arlo told me everything.
Arlo was on board as a paying customer.
He went to work every day. I
You're wrong.
Mrs. Shank, has Arlo's behaviour
changed in the last months at all?
- Mm-mm.
- Perhaps became more angry?
No. No.
Well, other people might see
him that way, but he was
God, now I'm talking
about him like he's gone,
but he could still be out there, right?
I mean, they're still
They're still finding people.
Yeah. Yeah, they are.
They are, Mrs. Shank.
- They are.
- Um, look, I'm sorry.
- I know
- They are.
This must be a bit of a shock for you.
Hm.
Maybe you should just
take a little time?
Yes, perhaps Perhaps we could
all do with with a cup of tea?
- Kitchen's that way, right?
- Yeah.
It's through here.
(MENACING MUSIC)
What are you doing in here?
This is, uh, this is Arlo's room.
Yes. Yeah, he doesn't
even let me in here.
- Reminds me of my own son's room.
- Really?
These are the blueprints
to the Queen of the Narrows.
Yeah.
We need to take these for evidence.
Evidence?
Should I be calling a lawyer?
Uh, no need to panic, Mrs. Shank.
I'm sure that Arlo and
you would want to help
with the investigation, wouldn't you?
- Yeah. Yeah.
- May I?
Do you mind if we just look around?
- Just be careful.
- Of course.
- Is that everything?
- Thank you.

Excuse me! Are you
with the investigation?
Yeah. Theo Barker. FTSA. Is there
something I can help you with?
I'm an insurance adjuster
representing some of the families.
You couldn't fill me in on the
investigation so far, could you?
Obviously, people are anxious
to know what's going on.
- No.
- Keep calling me.
Look, I'm sorry. We don't
release any information
- prior to our final report.
- Ah, I see.
Ah, who's actually in
charge of the investigation?
- Maybe they know more?
- Kendra Malley and Dominic Hayes.
Look, we have someone on
our team who could help you
update the families. If
you give me your card,
- I could put her in touch.
- Oh. Uh.
Oh! Left them in the car.
Look, uh, I'm going to
be around for a few days,
so I'll drop one in with you later.
We're at the coast guard station.
Thank you. Theo!
Yeah, it's me.
I'm working on it.

(SIRENS BLARING IN THE DISTANCE)
Radhey? Radhey?
- Radhey?
- Gregg, Gregg. Calm down!
- Let me see!
- It's not him!
It's not him! It's not Radhey.
Okay, calm down, Gregg.
All right.
I'm good. I'm I'm good!
Now go home.
If I find him, I will
personally call you.
The only reason you want to find
him alive is to throw him in jail.
You're nothing but a goddamn vulture!
I'm just trying to do my job, Gregg.
You and I both know you're
better off without him.
Screw you and your badge!
- Kendra Malley, FTSA.
- I'm Dominic Hayes.
Welcome to the island.
- I'm Detective Shakir Urgessa.
- Local police.
You were, uh, looking for someone?
Yeah. Truck driver.
His name is Radhey Sills.
You seen him?
Well, that was his husband, Gregg Walsh.
We had a warrant to check his vehicle
as soon as he docked here in St. John's.
What were you expecting to find?
- Contraband.
- Well, can you be more specific?
- Sorry. I can't.
- Detective, we're on the same team here.
Could it have been explosives?
No, no. No, nothing like that.
Look, I wish I could say more.
Um, if Sills turns up,
or his remains, please give me a call.
Otherwise, I'll stay out of your hair.
(TENSE MUSIC)
(INDISTINCT SHOUTING ON VIDEOS)
(SIGHS)
- Um, Theo.
- Yeah?
I'm going to be sending
you the initial interviews
of the survivors as they come in.
Great. Thanks. That would be a big help.
Yeah. Um, though, so far,
no one seems to have seen anything, so.
- So, is this ?
- Cellphone videos. Yeah.
We can use them to
chart what was happening
on different decks at different times.
These are passengers' phones.
Yeah. People were livestreaming
while it was going down.
Some of these people didn't make it, uh?
Yeah.
Um, can I have access
to these, actually?
Because I might be able to
identify some of the missing people.
- Sure. I'll forward them to you.
- Great. Thank you.
(TYLER): I need to find Lily.
(GROANING)
(THEO): What? What is it?
Uh, um, that young guy
there? I spoke to a Lily.
She said her boyfriend
Tyler was missing.
(NINA): If you can't go up, you go down.
(SUSAN): Are you sure, Nina?
Wait, but why did that woman tell
them to go deeper into the ship?
Right, so what have we got here?
A young man too embarrassed
to tell his mother that
he's lost his job or
A fired employee set on revenge?
- Could be both.
- Yeah.
Either way, one thing
we do know is Arlo Shank
is clearly obsessed
with ships, isn't he?
Yeah, I'd say. Uh,
what do you want to do
with the rest of the stuff in his room?
Uh, get a warrant.
- (THEO): Guys?
- Yeah.
You should see this.
- What is it?
- Check this out.
(NINA): If you can't go up, you go down.
She's leading passengers
deeper into the ship?
(SUSAN): Down? Are you sure, Nina?
Freeze that image, would you please?
Michelle, can you, uh, check
the manifest for a Nina,
- uh, a Nina someone?
- Yeah.
- Nina Collins.
- That's it. That must be her.
- You know her?
- No. We met her daughter.
She said that her mother
was on the lower decks
when the ferry went down.
One second.
Okay, so the video footage
was taken in section D.
Right, so that would
put them around there.
They'd need to find some trapped air.
Wouldn't it all just escape as it sank?
Most would, you're right.
But there would be pockets.
You'll see air bubbles coming up
from wrecks for days, weeks even.
Theo, do you have a cross section?
Uh, yeah.
Right. But where would they go where
they knew they could find oxygen?
Well, if you knew your
way around a ship, here.
Ballast number 4.
Airtight and directly
below their position.
We need to find out
if they made it there.
Call Banks and get a
hydrophone for echolocation.
(NINA): It's okay. You're all right.
(SHIP CREAKING)
(BANGING)
I can't believe you knew there'd
be air in the ballast tank.
I didn't think it was true,
but now no one in the
world knows we're down here.
(GRUNTING)
Kendra.
My crew is prepping the hydrophone.
Anything makes a noise
down there, we'll hear it.
- It's a long shot.
- Yes, it is.
It's all set. Your crew's ready to go.
(WOMAN ON RADIO): This is the
USS Alameda. Do you copy, Command?
Go ahead, Alameda. This is Banks.
Lowering the hydrophone now, Captain.
It will take a few minutes for
the device to reach depth.
Roger that.
All ears for signs of life,
people. Let's hope for the best.
You should take a break,
save your strength.
He's the same age as my Jada.
Do you have any children?
Didn't want any?
It's complicated.
I used to be a nun.
What happened?
I lost my faith a long time ago.
This trip, I finally got up the courage
to face the truth and walk away.
I met a man online.
I'm meeting him in Newfoundland.
You left God for a blind date?
God left me years back.
He just
stopped.
He sent you here to me.
He sent you here for a reason.
- You believe that's true?
- I do.
(SOFT MUSIC)
(BANGING)
Just reached the ferry.
Nothing yet.
(SUSPENSEFUL MUSIC)
(PANTING)
I can't.
I can't.
Why don't you tell me about Jada.
She seems lovely.
Uh, she is.
Except when she isn't.
Isn't that all teenagers?
She's asking a lot of questions that
- I don't want to have to answer.
- What kind of questions?
I haven't told her who her father is.
And she wants to know.
Why didn't you tell her?
I barely knew him, just
a few days kind of thing.
Tell me.
- I really did love him.
- Mm.
But he got a job on another ship.
Does he know that he has a daughter?
I haven't tried to find him
and I was afraid he'd
turn his back on us.
You'll find him when we get
out of here. I'm sure of it.
- I should've gone with her.
- It's okay. It's okay.
It's okay.
Lily left with our dog, Solo.
I met them!
- You did?
- Yes.
Yes, Lily was on her way up.
- Solo!
- Oh!
- Um, he shouldn't be up here.
- It's okay. I won't tell.
She's okay. I'm sure of it.
Oh, God.
Oh, God, thank you so much.
- Shh, shh.
- You need rest.
(INDISTINCT MUTTERING)
(SHUSHING GENTLY)
(ON RADIO): We've tracked the corridors
leading to the ballast.
Nothing yet, sir.
Roger that.
How long will they try for?
The hydrophone is extremely sensitive.
So, if there's nothing to hear
Oh, God. (PANTING)
(SUSPENSEFUL MUSIC)
(GURGLING)
(ON RADIO): Sorry, sir.
That was the hydrophone
brushing up against the ocean floor.
I'm sorry. There's nothing.
Oh, can't you try a bit longer?
Let's give it one more sweep.

He leadeth me by still waters.
He restoreth my soul.
Susan.
Susan!
Susan, no!
- It's all right.
- No!
I'm not afraid.
(ON RADIO): Still nothing.
I think I'm going to have to call this.
- Okay.
- I'm sorry.
We did all we could.
No!
(BANGING)
(ON RADIO): We have signs of
life, sir. I repeat, signs of life.
Get your men down there! You are
a go! Commence rescue operations.
No!
(BANGING)
