Magnum P.I. (2018) s03e01 Episode Script
Double Jeopardy
1
Previously on Magnum P.
I - Ice! - Hey, kid.
You lied to me.
You went through with it anyway.
KATSUMOTO: Your pal Icepick is going down for murder one, and you helped cover it up.
That makes you an accessory.
Expect to hear from the prosecuting attorney.
- HIGGINS: My visa's expired.
- What are you gonna do about? Well, I have an immigration lawyer who's working on it.
MAGNUM: I've been working every angle I can think of to keep Higgins in Hawaii.
But I'm gonna need some help.
Hey, Robin.
Robin made it.
HIGGINS: He's up at the house.
Turns out there's this obscure law in the book that says if you own a company, then you're entitled to a visa.
- Yeah, but you don't have that.
- Robin's just signed over full ownership of his estate to me.
MAGNUM: You now own Robin's Nest? So technically, we now work for you? Yes.
How's this gonna work? That remains to be seen.
La-la, la-la, la-la La-la, la-la, la, la-la La, la-la Tiny bubbles In the wine Make me feel happy Make me feel fine MAGNUM: Thank God for Robin Masters.
A few months ago, I thought for sure Higgins was headed back to England.
Now, am I thrilled with how the whole visa issue got fixed? Eh, okay, not exactly.
But I also know Higgins.
Despite her hoity-toity attitude, she's grounded, humble.
(CHUCKLES): Owning Robin's Nest will not change her one bit.
Which means everything will stay exactly the same.
With a feeling that I'm gonna Love you till the end of time Got a feeling that I'm gonna - (HELICOPTER BLADES WHIRRING) - Love you till the end of time - Wait! - End of time.
You're too late.
MAGNUM: 15 seconds? Robin was on a tight schedule.
He sends his best.
So, is that it? The key to the kingdom.
Indeed.
Took a little sorting out, but it's a fait accompli, as they say.
You know, they also say: Love thy tenant as thyself.
Well, I'm not sure that's the exact phrase, but, um actually, we do need to discuss the current arrangements.
That doesn't sound good.
What's up? - (PHONE RINGS) - Well Kumu.
Yes.
Mahalo.
- (PHONE BEEPS OFF) - Clients are here.
So, you were saying Right.
Well, the thing is, while Robin has transferred ownership of the estate over to me, it also comes with the expense of running it.
(LAUGHS): So he gave you Robin's Nest but not the means to run it? Well, I mean, he offered to cover that as well, but I refused.
Robin's generosity knows no bounds, as you yourself well know, but I felt I had to draw the line somewhere.
You know, you've been calling me a mooch since we first met, but the service I provide here as head of security actually has value.
I agree.
Which is why I'm going to factor in The minimal amount of hours you provide for that service when I make certain adjustments.
W-Wait, hold on.
What kind of adjustments? Well, for starters, Magnum, you are going to have to start paying rent.
Excuse me? I'm sorry, but I now have a sizable nut to cover.
Robin's Nest is a business that I have to keep running in order to maintain my visa.
There's labor, upkeep, utilities You're serious about this? Listen, I know you've led a rather charmed life up to this point, but things are going to have to change.
We can discuss it further after the meeting.
MAGNUM: You remember what I said about everything staying "exactly the same"? Well, it looks like I jumped the gun there.
This is my brother, Max.
We haven't seen or heard from him since he left Chicago almost 18 years ago.
And you think he's here on Oahu? Oh, her cousins, Brad and Sabrina, were here on vacation recently, and they swear they saw Max.
Where'd they see him? He was just sitting in his car at a light.
They were walking down Kalakaua Avenue, and Brad looks up and sees this guy in a convertible who looks like Max.
They went over, but the car took off.
Forgive me, but it has been some time, and it was from a distance and just for a few seconds.
Yeah, I-I know, I know, but they swore it was him.
They didn't happen to get a plate? No.
Why did your brother, uh, leave Chicago? Yeah, uh, well, he got into some trouble with some business partners, and they made threats.
Max got scared, and he left town.
Were these partners criminals? Yes, but Max did not know that at the time.
We think that's when he went into hiding.
Every few years we hear something, follow a trail It's always a dead end.
This might be another, but I have to believe he's still out there.
We just want to find him, let him know that we love him and that we will help in any way we can.
We had our ups and downs, but Max is still family.
I should have been there for him 18 years ago, when he needed me, but I wasn't.
And I just just want to make it right, you know? Well, we'll see if we can find him.
In the meantime, you are in Hawaii Try to enjoy yourselves, if you can.
Yeah.
I-I always wanted to take one of those chopper tours.
- Ah.
- There you go.
One of our best friends is Theodore Calvin He runs Island Hoppers.
He's one of the best pilots.
So tell him we sent you.
Oh, wow.
Thank you.
We will.
Let's talk about this whole rent thing.
Oh.
Let me guess, you can't afford the rent? - Well, obviously.
- Well (SCOFFS) Then I'm sorry, Magnum, but you're gonna have to move out.
I have to put the guesthouse up for lease.
I can get five figures, easy.
Where am I supposed to go? I don't know.
I can give you till the end of the month.
And after that, well, you're welcome to stay in the main house until you sort yourself out.
All done, Ms.
H.
Thank you, Shota.
Oh No! Come on! What's the problem? This! It is my car after all, Magnum.
- (SIGHS) - (DOOR OPENS) You know you you're really enjoying this, aren't you? (ENGINE STARTS) Don't know what you're talking about.
Buckle up.
- MAGNUM: Whoa! - (TIRES SCREECH) Not that I don't appreciate your situation, right, and I'm just spitballing here, but you own nine cars couldn't you sell one of them for cash? Or-or maybe sell some artwork or dip into the wine cellar Actually scratch that.
Let's not touch the wine.
We're gonna need that.
I'm not about to start liquidating assets, Magnum, okay? Maybe you don't believe it, but I personally do not see this situation as permanent.
As soon as I am able, I plan to return Robin's Nest, plus all of its contents, back to Robin.
In the meantime, I'm just gonna have to scale back on management costs, that's all.
And definitely gonna have to start being more discerning - about the jobs we take.
- Meaning? Well, it means no more low-pay, bleeding-hearts jobs.
I have a payroll to make now.
(SIGHS) KATSUMOTO: You need me to run a name? Yes.
Max Martinez.
Don't you guys normally do that kind of stuff on your own? Well, we have in the past, but we're really trying hard not to break any laws, including hacking.
Really? Look, we appreciate the value of a trusting relationship with the HPD.
Mm.
And this has nothing to do with our new firewall? Firewall? - That is news to us.
- Mm.
But this is more so about turning over a new leaf.
Mm-hmm.
You look skeptical.
Well, maybe because for the past three years I've been Charlie Brown, he's Lucy, and truth and honesty are the football.
That's in the past, right? From now on, total transparency.
Yeah, I doubt that.
But I also know that if I don't cooperate, you two will most likely do something that results in laws getting broken, so it's in my best interest to help.
Brilliant.
- (KEYBOARD CLACKING) - Now that it's official, will you be keeping Magnum on as head of security? Of course she would.
Why wouldn't she? Because someone with her background doesn't need a security consultant.
No.
I-I came with the estate I get grandfathered in, like Kumu when Robin bought the place.
You know, he does make a good point, Magnum.
You are somewhat redundant.
(COMPUTER BEEPS) Dead end.
No Max Martinez on Oahu or on any of the other islands.
Okay, well, he might be using a pseudonym.
Um, could you possibly age up this photo and pass it through facial recognition? Sure.
Air-drop it.
I'll call you if we get a hit.
Great.
I thought letting you drive the car would make you happy.
Don't let Gordon get under your skin.
I'm still gonna keep you on as head of security, no matter how pointless that may be.
Well, you know, if I'm not getting room and board, I kind of agree, it is pointless.
I guess I'm gonna have to get my own car now, too.
I'm still gonna continue to loan you a car.
Great.
I'll take the Range Rover.
Maybe I can live in it.
I said you can stay in the main house.
Yeah, that's not gonna work.
What if one of us wants to have an overnight guest? And by "one of us," I mean me.
Right.
- (PHONE RINGS) - Oh.
Gordon.
That was fast.
So's our lab.
They aged up the photo, and we got a hit.
Max Martinez has an alias: Max Rogers.
I'll send you the address on file.
Oh, okay, great.
Mahalo.
Remember, complete transparency.
Gotcha.
(PHONE BEEPS OFF) What is it? I think we have a tail.
It's a white SUV about three cars back that's made the last six turns we have.
Okay, well, slowing down is no way to lose a tail.
I'm not trying to lose them.
I just want to see if they're following us.
This is a surefire way to let them know you're onto them.
And now they're very much aware.
Did you get a plate? No.
There was another car in the way.
I wonder who you've made angry enough to warrant a tail.
What makes you think they're following me and not you? Private investigators do tend to make enemies, and, well, you've been at this a long time.
You've been at it for a while, too.
Yeah, but you've been doing it longer, and I don't know, my feminine intuition just tells me it's you.
(CHUCKLES) You know, you don't have to be here, you know that, right? Look, I told you, man, I ain't here for you.
I'm here to help clean up our beautiful island.
It's my kuleana.
Well, I appreciate it, buddy.
That's what brothers are for.
Now can you tell me what the hell is this? Oh, come on, man, get that out of my face.
It's an animal, right? (SNIFFS) Yeah.
- Yeah, it's definitely an animal.
- (HORN HONKS) Hang on.
(SNIFFS) Hey.
You here to check on me? How's it going? Well, I had worse details in the corps.
Listen, I want to say thanks for putting in a good word with the judge.
Wasn't for you, I'd be sharing a cell with Icepick.
I owe you one.
Nah, I'm just glad it worked out.
Brought you a present, too.
Chubbie's Burgers.
(GASPS) You are a prince among men.
Hey, just try to stay out of trouble, okay? Absolutely.
(BIRDS CHIRPING) What are you doing? Why can't we just wait for him to get back? Or we can save some time, look around, confirm Max Rogers is our client's brother, uh, tell Helen and Bruce, get paid, call it a day.
So what happened to you turning over a new leaf, hmm? I only told Katsumoto that because you couldn't get past the new firewall.
You know, if you were a little better at your job, I probably wouldn't have to lie.
Half eaten loco moco and a fresh glass of iced tea.
Either Max left in a hurry or he's still in the house, and he probably saw us break in (MOUTHING) (BOTH GRUNT) - You okay? - Yeah, I'm good.
(VEHICLE APPROACHING) - That's got to be him.
- HIGGENS: How can you be sure? He moves like someone who's been running his whole life.
Well, I hope you're pleased, that by breaking in we definitely scared Max.
He probably assumes that we're connected to whatever trouble he left behind on the mainland.
There's got to be something in here that'll help us find him.
Hmm.
What is it? Looks he was trying to get at this air vent.
- There's something in there.
- Yeah.
It's a go bag.
Hopefully he won't get too far without this.
You know there really ought to be more bathrooms at He'eia pier.
I picked up a shocking amount of water bottles filled with urine today.
From decorated military sniper to pee wrangler.
- My, how far you've come.
- Thank you.
- Thank you.
- (DOOR OPENS) MAGNUM: Hey, my man.
Uh, what happened to Kamekona? Big cuz is a little slammed right now.
Sent me instead.
It's dead in here.
Yeah, you know, I think people are still a little skittish about going back to bars.
Can't say I blame them.
I see you started that community service.
You know, for a low, low price, my cousin Bonefish can do that for you.
What, you mean he'll fill in? Bonefish does it all, sis.
Traffic school, DMV lines.
He'll even commute with you to work just so you can use the carpool lane.
Thanks for the offer, but, uh, I think I'll pass.
I'd like to stay out of trouble for a little while.
Hmm, change your mind, you let me know.
So what's up? Well, we are looking for the guy in these fake IDs.
This is some A-plus work.
Yeah, we're hoping that maybe Kamekona will recognize the craft and he could talk to the guy that made these and help us find this man.
I'll take one to show him.
- Great.
- Appreciate it.
Shoots.
The SUV again? I swear I just saw it.
HIGGINS: I can't see anything.
Ju just keep watching.
(ENGINE REVVING, TIRES SCREECHING) HIGGINS: And there he is.
ISRAEL KAMAKAWIWO'OLE: Think to myself What a wonderful world.
Hang on, I'll shake him.
(TIRES SCREECH) Nice move.
You run the plate? It's GNU556 - Yeah.
- (KEYBOARD CLACKING) Okay, the tail car is registered to Akahai Car Rental Service.
So that white SUV is a rental.
If we got time, we should check it out, - see who's following us.
- (PHONE CHIMING) Oh, Kumu's calling me.
Can you, uh, answer? Wait, you hooked up your phone to my car? - Your car? - Yeah, well, you know what I mean.
Would you just answer it for me? - (SIGHS) - (PHONE BEEPS) Juliet's car.
Juliet speaking.
KUMU: I just heard.
Ten percent raise, employee pension fund.
Oh, Juliet, you're an angel.
And because I know it might sting, given the whole situation with the guesthouse, I won't mention any of it to Thomas.
Hey, Kumu, right here.
Oh.
- Uh, oops.
- MAGNUM: So Kumu gets a raise and I get evicted? Uh, not that I'm not happy for you, Kumu.
I'm sure you deserve it, it's just, uh, been quite a day.
(PHONE CHIMES) I think it's Kamekona.
Could you grab that? Sorry, Kumu, we have to go.
No problem.
Aloha! He's spoken to the guy who made the IDs and we've got a number for Max.
Listen Kumu hasn't had a raise in three years, just so you know.
And just so you know, if you just took Robin's help with the estate, and not let your pride get in the way, I wouldn't be getting bounced out of the guesthouse.
I am truly sorry for what's happened.
Okay, this number's still active.
And I have a location.
Okay, get on the 83.
I'm gonna text Helen an update.
Here.
If he sees a badge, he might open the door for you.
I'm gonna go around back.
Okay.
(KNOCKS ON DOOR) Who is it? HPD, sir.
I'd like to have a word with you, if I may.
Just a second.
Easy, easy.
(DOOR OPENS) Stop! It's okay.
We're not going to harm you.
I'm supposed to believe that? First you chase me, - now you're pointing a gun at me? - We're just being cautious.
We didn't know whether you were armed.
Just want to talk to you.
Your sister's looking for you.
Sister? Yes, she's the one that hired us.
What are you talking about? I don't have a sister.
- (HAMMER COCKS) - Put your weapon on the ground.
You, too, Magnum.
Get over there by him.
Magnum, put your weapon on the floor.
Go.
Kick it over here.
(GUN SLIDES ON FLOOR) What is this? HELEN: Hey, Max.
Long time.
How did you find me? Oh, I didn't.
They did.
I'm sorry.
You spent 16 years enjoying your life, while I sat in prison for a murder I didn't commit.
The way I see it, if I did the time might as well do the crime.
Please.
- (GUNSHOT) - (GASPS) (EXHALES) Who was he to you? Doesn't really matter now.
(CHUCKLES SOFTLY) We can't let you guys leave.
You don't really have a choice.
What I was gonna say is we can't let you leave - without your deposit.
Right? - Right.
Look, we don't have any issue with you.
All right? We can keep our mouths shut.
(GRUNTING) (GRUNTING) Come on.
We got to go.
You couldn't stop her? - Well, she has a gun.
- So did he.
- We should split up.
- Agreed.
(PANTING) HELEN: There she is.
Flank her.
(GRUNTS) (GUNSHOTS FIRING) Higgins.
(GRUNTS) (PANTING) (GROANS) (BREATHING SHAKILY) Where'd she go? Damn it.
All right, let's go.
We're not gonna look for her? She's bleeding heavily.
She's not gonna make it anyway.
We got to get out of here.
What about Magnum? We're just gonna leave him, too? Someone could've heard the shots and called it in.
For all we know, the cops are on their way.
What are you doing? (PHONE BEEPS) (LINE RINGS) MAN: 911, emergency.
Yeah, I want to report a shooting.
Higgins! - Higgins! - HIGGINS: Magnum.
MAGNUM: Higgins! HIGGINS: Magnum.
Where are you? HIGGINS: Here.
(GRUNTS) No.
Go af - Go after them.
- I'm not leaving you.
- Go! - No way.
(CRIES OUT) You let them escape.
I wasn't gonna let you bleed out.
(GRUNTS) You're such a wally.
I hope that's English for, - "You're an angel.
" - (GROANS) (ENGINE STARTS) (TIRES SQUEAL) (HORNS HONKING) - Keep pressure on it.
- Eyes on the road, Magnum.
I don't want to survive a gunshot only to die in a car wreck.
(HORNS HONKING) (SIRENS WAILING) (SIRENS CONTINUE WAILING) Think they want you to stop.
I'm not stopping till I get to the hospital.
Hang on.
(TIRES SQUEALING) - Magnum.
- MAGNUM: Katsumoto, we need your help.
- We're being chased.
- No kidding.
We got a tip about a multiple shooting.
The caller said the shooter fled the scene in a red Ferrari.
What happened to turning over a new leaf? Are we really gonna do this right now? (SIRENS WAILING) Get the spike strip down.
Look, just pull over and wait for me.
We'll sort it out.
No, I can't.
Higgins has been shot.
Got to get her to the hospital.
Magnum.
Hands in the air.
Don't move.
(MONITOR BEEPING RAPIDLY) (OVERLAPPING CHATTER) This isn't my first time being shot, you know.
- Is that right? - Mm.
First time was in Marrakesh during an extraction.
WOMAN: Can I get a BP update? Hello, Doc.
You can call me Ethan.
That's a lovely name.
(CHUCKLES) Why don't we get that bullet out of you.
Take your time.
ANESTHESIOLOGIST: All right.
Let's count down, ten to one.
HIGGINS: Ten, nine, eight (INDISTINCT P.
A.
ANNOUNCEMENT) (SIGHS) I should've called.
Maybe if you had, Higgins wouldn't have gotten shot.
RICK: Hey.
- Any news? - Still in surgery.
You okay? Yeah, yeah.
Just, uh Shouldn't have split up.
Did your guys get anything from the car rental place? Yeah.
It was a dead end.
Helen and Bruce did not rent that SUV.
You sure? Like whoever was following you, Magnum, it wasn't your clients.
All right, so, if it wasn't the clients, how were they able to catch up to you? Higgins did tell them where we were headed.
I don't know.
There's not many houses in the area.
Maybe they just drove around until they saw the Ferrari.
NURSE: Excuse me, Mr.
Magnum.
She's gonna be fine.
Surgery went well.
(MAGNUM EXHALES) Come in! Guys, I'm just having some jelly.
First time ever.
OMG.
It's utterly delicious.
(CHUCKLES) Where has it been all my life, honestly? What's wrong? I told you I was gonna be fine.
You just didn't believe me.
I know, just you know.
Guys, seriously, you should get in on this.
Look at it.
Jeweled deliciousness.
I mean - Mm-hmm.
- RICK: Wow.
They have you on some serious painkillers, don't they? (CHUCKLES) Yes, indeed, they do.
(CHUCKLES) I could probably get you some, actually, if you wanted.
I'd just keep it on the DL.
(whispers): Super quiet.
(WHISPERS): No, thank you.
We'll pass.
(CHUCKLES) Mmm.
That's your loss.
How's everybody feeling? Wonderful.
Great.
Ethan, my friends.
- My friends, Ethan.
- Hey.
Yeah, thanks for looking after our girl, Doc.
- First-name basis with the doc.
- Yeah, I noticed that, too.
- Let's take a look here.
- Guys, Ethan literally just saved my life.
I mean, he's a veritable hero.
Oh! He's the one who carried you out of the forest, I guess, huh? ETHAN: (CHUCKLES) This is looking good.
But I don't want to intrude here, so I will take your vitals again after visiting hours.
Sounds good.
I'll be here.
Great.
I'll swing by later.
It's a date.
Nice meeting you guys.
- Nice to meet you.
- All right, brother.
Bye.
- She's kind of into this guy.
- No, she's just really high.
Although, yeah, I think she's into him, too.
What? (PHONE CHIMES) (CLEARS THROAT) Um It's, uh, Gordon.
Noelani's got something.
Okay, go, go.
Get the bugger who shot me, for heaven's sake.
And, um, oh, if you spot anyone out there who has another couple of these Maybe a different flavor.
Maybe a blue one.
(CHUCKLES) Love you.
Seems your vic actually died twice.
State of Illinois declared him dead following an investigation into his disappearance back in 2002.
KATSUMOTO: It was ruled a homicide, and the person found responsible was Max's wife, who also happens to be your client Helen.
Real name, Margaret Slattery.
She was released from prison last week.
So, Max fakes his death and then frames his wife for his murder? Damn.
She spent all that time in prison for a crime she didn't commit.
Uh, this was revenge, pure and simple.
I'll get an alert out.
Lock down the island.
Those two aren't going anywhere.
HIGGINS: Nope.
Margaret had no relatives or male visitors that could have been her companion, Bruce.
She only got out a couple of days ago.
There's no way she could have got a boyfriend in that time.
Maybe she already had one.
You want me to do what? Have the warden send over all the IDs on the male prison guards.
You're thinking she may have had a relationship with one of them.
It happens.
- All right.
I'll call you back.
- (PHONE BEEPS OFF) - Hi.
- HIGGINS: Hi.
Here you go.
Clothes and toiletries.
Thank you so much, Kumu.
Would you mind if I offered you a pule ho'ola? It's a healing prayer.
Oh, I'd be really grateful.
Thank you.
(SIGHS) Akua, please help Juliet overcome her injuries.
Make her mana strong with aloha ke akua.
'Amene.
'Amene.
Thank you.
(LINE RINGS) Hey.
Got the IDs.
I'm sending them to you now.
- Okay.
- Great.
KATSUMOTO: Anyone look familiar? HIGGINS: There.
There, that's the chap.
MAGNUM: Yeah, hey, Katsumoto, looks like our boy Bruce is Officer Daniel Merrick.
Hang on.
I'm running his credit card.
Okay.
Uh, got a charge here for Sun 'n Surf Auto Rental on Makaloa.
Give me a minute.
I'll get 'em to track the vehicle.
- Okay.
Thanks.
- Thank you.
By the way, I got a look at Dr.
Shah on my way in.
Mmm He's a four-alarm fire, that one.
(CHUCKLES) Uh hadn't noticed.
Okay, he does have a rather pleasant bedside manner.
And he doesn't have a ring either.
(CHUCKLES) I'm just sayin'.
(CHUCKLES SOFTLY) Thank you.
All right, I'm getting a fix on the vehicle now.
Looks like they're pulling up to Oh, God.
What? Where-where is it? Hey.
Welcome to Island Hoppers.
Can I help you? We would like you to fly us to the airport on Lanai.
Thomas Magnum gave us your name.
Well, that's nice.
But I'm not working this afternoon.
I got a friend in the hospital I got to get back to.
But maybe we can do it tomorrow.
- Let me just check - DANIEL: That's not possible.
- (HAMMER COCKS) - I'm afraid it has to be today.
Come on, TC, pick up.
(RINGING) (SIREN WAILING) (SIREN WAILING) (TIRES SCREECHING) I'll call HPD Air Support.
That's a bad idea.
They-they already shot two people today.
They feel boxed in, - it might make it three.
- You have a better plan? You still got Betty, right? Never leave home without her.
Who's Betty? Betty is your new best friend.
What the hell you gonna do with that? Six years ago in Kandahar, Taliban stole an Apache.
My boy Rick right here brought it down with one shot.
Not a single casualty.
- Why do you even have that thing? - 'Cause I'm F.
O.
M.
- The hell's that mean? - Friend of Magnum.
Enough said.
Every second that chopper's moving, it's getting out of range.
(EXHALES) Ah, come on, Rick, take the shot.
(EXHALES) (ALARM BEEPING) - What's happening?! - Malfunction! (BEEPING CONTINUES) We got to put this bird on the ground now! They're coming back.
You did it.
(EXHALES) What was that you called me earlier, pee wrangler? Nice shot, pal.
Hands up.
Get your hands up.
Get out in front of me! HPD! Put the guns down! Hold it, right there.
Back up.
Drop it! (SHOUTS, GROANS) Get up! - (GROANING) - Come on, get up.
Come on.
You almost killed my partner.
I guess we're even.
(GRUNTING) Not even close.
(ELEVATOR BELL DINGS) (LOW, INDISTINCT CHATTER) Juliet, this is Dr.
Healy.
He'll be in charge of your post-op.
HIGGINS: I-It It's a-a pleasure.
But, um, I'm sorry, are you You're handing me off? Yes, but Dr.
Healy is excellent.
I'm sure he is.
Um, but may I ask why? Um, because, when you're feeling better, I would like to take you to dinner.
And if I'm your doctor, that's, uh that's not allowed.
I see.
So, if you're interested, I was thinking La Mer? I have a hunch you like neoclassical French.
Yeah, that's That sounds That sounds nice.
ETHAN: Great.
Then I'm gonna ask you to please follow all of Dr.
Healy's instructions so we can get to that dinner as soon as possible.
Um Well, I'll-I'll be in touch.
Nice meeting you.
Hey.
Hey.
So, you, uh, ready to go home? Definitely.
Thanks.
(GRUNTS) Something wrong? Uh (CHUCKLES) Sorry, but I overhead the doc ask you out on a date.
Is there something wrong with that? No.
No, I think it's great.
Very good.
Everybody else is downstairs.
They would only let one person up, so Oh, that's nice of everyone to come.
(SIGHS) Just hang on a minute.
So, I was thinking, without you, there would be no White Knight, and without the White Knight, there would be no Robin's Nest and, therefore, no business for me to take over.
Hence, were it not for you, I would have been on a plane back to England.
I guess all of that is true, yes.
So, in light of that, I don't want you to have to endure any more disruption to your life.
And if you would so wish, you may live rent-free at the guesthouse, in exchange for your continued service as security consultant.
(CHUCKLES) Thank you.
You're welcome.
Shall we go? Yes.
HIGGINS: So, did Margaret ever talk? No, but Daniel did.
According to him, Max cleaned out his and Margaret's joint accounts 18 years ago, then vanished, framing Margaret for his murder.
She later had him break into a storage locker owned by Max's brother.
Found letters from Max with an Oahu postmark, which led them here.
The crazy part is Margaret would've gotten away with it if they hadn't shot Higgy.
Oh! Good job, Higgy.
Glad I could be of service.
I don't understand.
How would Margaret have gotten away with murdering her ex? Well, under the double jeopardy rule, she couldn't go away for killing her husband twice.
She would've had her revenge and been a free woman.
Now she's gonna go to jail for the rest of her life for accessory to attempted murder.
Well, it couldn't happen to a nicer gal.
Hey, uh, listen, I just want to thank you all, because everybody here helped in some small way.
Teamwork makes the dream work, baby.
That's right.
Oh, and, uh, Gordie, I also want to apologize.
I-I think, after what happened today, I really learned my lesson.
You know, save it.
You are who you are, and you're never gonna change.
You guys also do a lot of good, and if, in the course of doing so (INHALES) you ignore a law or two, well, I've come to the realization that I'm just gonna have to live with that.
Take the bad with the good.
Oh, good.
Well, does that mean I get Betty back? - No.
- Fair enough.
(HIGGINS CHUCKLES) I do know a way that Thomas could show his appreciation for all of us.
What? Didn't I just do that? Well, uh, deeds matter more than words, Thomas.
I think you could, uh, buy us all a few drinks at La Mariana.
I like that idea.
TC: See you there.
See you there.
Here.
Oh, no, no, I'm good, thanks.
Wait, how did you, uh how did you afford new tires for the car? Oh, uh I pawned my watch.
But but that was your dad's.
That must've hurt.
Well, you know, we get a couple jobs, I'll be able to get it back.
Without wanting to sound condescending, that was incredibly responsible of you.
Appreciate it.
Here.
Let me get that for you.
Oh.
Thanks.
(BUCKLE CLICKS) Oh, you cleaned up all the blood.
Yeah.
(CHUCKLES) Wasn't easy either.
Missed a spot.
(CHUCKLES) What's funny? You know, just Normally, when people go through a near-death experience, it kind of shifts their perspective.
And you? Not changed a bit.
Yes, but I told you, Magnum That bullet wasn't gonna kill me.
Well, it would have if I didn't carry you out of the jungle.
Oh.
Please tell me you're not gonna hold this - over me for evermore.
- What? That you saved my life.
Well, I just didn't want you to die.
Why not? I mean, at the time, you were staring down the barrel of losing your home.
My early demise would have put an end to all that.
Come on.
Just be serious for a second.
(CHUCKLES): I'm being serious.
(SIGHS) - Um - Anytime, Magnum.
You really thought I was gonna die, didn't you? Let's just say I took it more seriously than you did.
But that's that's not what I was gonna say.
You don't know what you'd do without me.
Is that it? Yeah.
Something like that.
Jolly good.
(CHUCKLES) Jolly good.
That's what I get? What do you want, Magnum, a parade? Our friends are waiting.
Come on.
- (EXHALES) - (STARTS ENGINE) (ENGINE REVS) (TIRES SCREECH) ISRAEL KAMAKAWIWO'OLE: Think to myself What a wonderful world
I - Ice!
