"A Million Little Things"
My friend Darcy's a physical therapist.
For spinal injuries like his, it's less than a 10% chance he'll walk again.
And we could be parents.
We could be a family.
We're a family that is mourning the loss of their son.
When have I ever said no to a baby? I'm your new roommate.
Honestly, I don't trust therapists.
Just don't get you guys.
I promise to spend every moment making you happy that you gave me another chance.
Good morning.
It was, until I discovered somebody chewed my exercise band.
Colin, look straight ahead.
She's got nothin' on you.
Oh, you're gonna pin it on him? Just like you did with your morning breath? I just used some mouthwash.
Would you care to ride the minty wave? Hold, please.
Actually, let's start smoochin'.
London calling.
Or Oxford.
Oh! Am I taking it? I'm not taking it, right? Definitely taking it right? Did you just talk so much that the call went away? I may have filibustered.
It is an election year.
Call her back.
You can be friends with your ex.
Especially if she lives on a different continent.
You heard that, Colin.
Rome? Coffee's ready! I'm on the phone with Isaac.
Mm-hmm.
No, no, I'm I'm definitely flattered.
It's just Does she know the budget? Can't even look at this stuff.
Rome.
No, dude.
Hey.
Absolutely.
If Shanice Williamson agrees to play Regina, - it's a game changer.
- It's a game changer? You know how huge she is? I'd go see the movie, and not just 'cause I'm in it.
Tell him, Will.
She is big.
Oh, yeah.
Listen, don't get me wrong.
It's just that I read that Vanity Fair article on her.
She said on her last movie, she used the script as a "jumping-off point.
" Rome, it's the price of admission for a huge get like Shanice.
Now, will she have notes? Probably.
Do you have to take them all? No.
You just have to make her feel heard.
Okay.
Make her feel heard I can do that.
Yeah, hit me up after.
Hey, you can practice your pitch to Shanice on me, like you did with Isaac.
I can't.
I got to meet with an editor.
But I'll catch you at the restaurant.
Oh.
Almost forgot.
Dad, you said you were gonna let me try to beat my old time.
Just let me finish packing your lunch up, buddy, and then my wheelchair is all yours.
And, Carter, you're sure we can't push this meeting back a few days? We did push it back.
To today.
Homemade waffles are on the table for your first day back at work.
Oh.
- Oh.
Are you okay? - I'm good.
Katherine, the deposition's Monday.
You have to do witness prep.
Are you sure you don't want me to fly back and help? No.
You're on vacation.
Okay, well, you haven't been into the office in weeks.
Which reminds me, would you please tell Gary to come get his ping-pong table? We're a law firm, not a frat house.
Though that is a recurring fantasy of mine.
- You're on speaker.
- I meant fantasy football! Anyway, I need to get back to my mai tai.
Bye-bye.
Okay, Eddie, I put your sweater on the bed, the doorbell app is set up on your phone in case anybody comes by, and I left your lunch - Oh, Eddie! - I got it.
Coffee? Nice, Dad.
And then Saturday, I thought we could go have lunch at that panini place you love.
N-No, D-Dad Dad, this this is Delilah.
Go, Crimson! It's okay.
It happens.
Um you know what, Dad? Why don't you go take a nap, hm? I'll call you back later? I love you, too.
You okay? He thought I was his nurse.
And not even his favorite one.
- Look at this! - Oh.
Dad would be so proud to see you in this! You sure it's not overkill? Have you ever met anyone from Harvard? They love to advertise it.
I know.
I just I haven't even applied yet.
Well, it's like Dad always said You have to dress for the part you want.
Speaking of dressing the part - Mm-hmm? - What are you wearing on your big date with Miles tonight? Date? What What date? Oh, come on, Mom.
I mean, Danny's at a sleepover, I'm gonna be at Harvard till tomorrow, Charlie's sleeping through the night now, so you pretty much got the whole house to yourself.
And the big bottle of wine on the counter says that you either have a date or a drinking problem.
Mom, I think it's great.
Where did we land on whether or not I was going to college with you? Hey! Hey, stranger.
Wow.
Where are you? Are you using one of those fake backgrounds? Uh, no.
I'm I'm at Darcy's.
Ah! Say hi, Darcy.
Hi! How's Oxford? Meet the Queen yet? Uh, no, but Prince William is using my living room to get jacked.
- Hello.
- Impressive.
Wow.
I think I just saw his Big Ben.
I'm gonna be late for my patient.
- Good to see you, Maggie.
- Bye! Hey, if you want to leave Colin here when you pick Theo up later, I'll give you the code to the door.
Okeydoke.
Colin's there? - Yeah.
Look at that.
- Uh-huh.
This guy went to town on one of my workout bands this morning.
- Didn't you, buddy? - Uh-oh.
Exercise equipment.
That's his cheesecake.
What's up, Bloom? Huh? Long time no talk.
That's actually why I was calling.
Have you talked to Rome recently? Just a little worried about him after all the adoption stuff he and Gina went through.
Yeah, yeah, I know.
Gina was right.
Replacing one baby with another probably isn't the healthiest plan.
Yeah.
Yeah, I guess diving into something new just to forget the old thing is not always the best idea.
Although Colin seems fine with it.
What is that supposed to mean? I was kidding.
You think Darcy and I are moving too fast, huh? No.
No.
You know what? I need to take, uh, Colin for a walk.
- But let's do this again real soon.
- Gary Hey.
Almost forgot.
What's this? The code to my garage.
Be careful with that.
I don't go giving that out to just anyone.
28, 29, 30, 31 32 - 33 seconds! - Whoo! - That's not bad, pal.
- Wait.
One more time.
I think I can shave off a few seconds.
Do it.
Look out, Mom! Coming through! Carter, you're on vacation, okay? - You shouldn't be - He's parking now, Katherine! - Wait, he's there already? - Go, go, go.
Oh, no.
Okay.
Um, you know what? I-I'm headed there right now.
- You're not even in the car? - Uh, Theo, let's go! - Get your shoes.
- Bye.
I talked to Gary.
He can do school pickup.
You sure you don't want him to just drop him off here rather than bring him to you? I promised T that he could be my office coordinator while Carter's gone.
Theo.
Put your shoes on.
We gotta go.
Okay.
Are you sure you're gonna be okay? This is not just me running out to the store for an hour.
I'm gonna be gone all day.
I'm fine.
You know what? Let's just let this be the test.
And don't do that thing where you call me every 10 minutes.
Okay.
But will you promise to look at these résumés while I'm gone? I don't need a babysitter.
It's not a babysitter.
It's It's a home healthcare worker.
We'll talk about this later.
Hey, pal, I invented "We'll talk about it later.
" And just so you know, we will talk about it later.
Uh, hello.
This This is Katherine.
No, I'm I'm turning onto Comm Ave.
now.
I should be in the office any minute.
- Theo! - Coming! 33 seconds, Dad.
That's the time to beat.
- See ya! - Alright, bud! - Can we run to the car? Please? - Come on.
Hey, Katherine! Theo! Um So, Colin spent the night, huh? That's gotta sting.
Excuse me? Your ex's dog, is it? The mastiff with the the big rollers? Didn't Didn't the new girlfriend call him Colin? You were listening to my conversation? The one that you were having without headphones in the living room? Yeah, I caught the tail end of all of it.
Honestly, I think you're having a little trouble letting go.
Wow.
For a guy who says he doesn't like therapists, you sure sound like one.
You've been here over a month.
Have you done anything fun yet? Been to London? You been to Portobello Market? Tried Indian food on Brick Lane? Have you even set foot in a pub? Oh.
- Oh, here? - Yes, here! Right, that's it.
I'm gonna start calling you Margaret.
Yep.
I-I just don't think you're fun enough to be a Maggie.
I'm fun.
You've got to keep your mind where your body is.
Okay? That's your problem.
There's a whole world out there to explore, and you haven't even unpacked your trunk.
That's That is not my trunk.
I thought that was your trunk, and I was actually sort of annoyed that you were keeping it in the common area.
Got here the same day you did.
Oh.
"Property of Sebastian Fawke.
" Oh! That's the guy that I replaced in my program.
He must have sent it ahead before he dropped out.
Oh! Bloody hell, it's heavy.
I'm gonna call the registrar, see if I can get his e-mail.
Yeah, okay.
Or we could open it.
Boundaries really aren't your thing.
Why did you beat cancer if you're not gonna live? - How did you - You really need to get headphones.
Come on, Margaret! Open it! Margaret! Margaret! Margaret! Okay.
Alright, fine.
Yeah.
Ooh, locked.
- Must be a sign.
- Agreed.
A sign that we need more tools.
Rome's here with Shanice Williamson.
I'll be out in a minute.
Thank you.
You wrote a great script, Rome.
- Thank you.
- I love that it's based on your life.
But I'm gonna ask you the same question I ask every director What made you want to tell this story? I had to.
Um, this is gonna sound weird, but my friend died at just the right time.
That call saved my life.
And it made me realize we're not all living the life that we thought that we'd be living.
S-So, the question is what are you gonna do about it? And for me, the answer was to finally get honest about my depression.
You know, to follow my passion, make this movie.
And, you know, with the hopes that I'd someday get to sit across from the Shanice Williamson and beg her to be in it.
Good answer.
Now, let's get down to business.
There are a few things I want to talk to you about.
Okay.
Let me guess.
You saw that profile of me in Vanity Fair? Me? No.
I'm more of a Cosmo guy, really.
Mm-hmm.
Well, I'm not as much of a diva as they made me out to be.
But I do have a few what I like to call non-negotiables.
- Uh-huh.
- I come with my own hair - and makeup people.
- Okay.
They've been with me for a decade.
Which also happens to be how much younger they make me look.
Fair enough.
And I got a kid, so I'm gone at 9:00 every night.
Done! Great.
Now, let's dive into this beautiful script of yours.
'Cause I have a few notes.
Glad you got to read every page.
I don't mind a detour.
I just didn't realize your mom's office had a dress code.
The whole world has a dress code, in case you haven't noticed.
Yeah, I hadn't noticed.
Hey, Dad.
Quick pit stop so I could put on my power suit.
Great idea, pal.
Hey! Go with the pocket square.
- It's very intimidating.
- This kid.
Gary.
Look, man, I need your help.
Oh.
What happened? I couldn't make it to the bathroom.
Please, I don't want Theo to see this.
What do you think, guys? Blue or red? - Oh! What?! - Oh! Gary! I'm so sorry, dude.
I'm such a klutz.
You know that.
No, that's that's okay, man.
We all make mistakes.
T, do me a solid Run upstairs and grab a towel.
And go with the red tie.
Red is power! Thanks again, man.
How'd your chair get so far away from you? Theo was racing around in it, and I didn't realize until it was too late.
Thought about crawling, but I didn't know if I could get in the chair on my own.
And I couldn't let them see me on the floor like that.
I don't know how much longer I can keep putting on a happy face for everyone.
I'm sorry, man.
Yeah, well, don't be.
I got what I deserved.
- Knock it off.
- No, this is payback for all of the stupid choices I've made in my life.
That's ridiculous.
Alright? This isn't karma.
Only reason you're in that chair right now is because some jerk got behind the wheel who wasn't paying attention.
Yeah, and if I'd been paying attention 20 years ago at the lake, maybe Alex would still be alive right now.
Ed, y It's Katherine.
Hey, babe.
Sorry I missed your calls earlier.
I dozed off.
No, no, no.
Everything's going great here.
See? I told you you had nothing to worry about.
Wow, it's just so crazy to think that my dad actually stayed in this dorm.
It's awesome.
You're a legacy.
Which means you have a much better chance of getting in.
Yeah.
- What's wrong? - No, it's it's nothing.
I just I always thought he would be the one showing me around.
Your dad would have made this so much fun.
Remember when I got braces and your dad took us to Cabot's for ice cream? I wanted bubble gum flavor, but I couldn't have the bubble gum part because it would stick.
And so your dad took out one of those little spoons and picked out all the pieces of bubble gum for the next 10 minutes.
It was, like, the best melted ice cream soup I ever had.
Yeah, I don't remember that.
It's like the longer he's gone, the more things I forget about him.
Okay.
Come on.
I've got something to show you.
That Fawke chap must've put some kind of dark magic spell on this thing.
Mm.
Maybe he's a warlock.
Maybe he's inside.
I've had sublets smaller than that.
- Thank you.
- Mm-hmm.
What the hell is this? Tea? Your people's coffee? O kay.
Right.
You never drink tea with the tea bag still in it.
So uncouth.
Alright, let me put it in terms you'd understand.
Um It's like putting jelly on a hot dog.
I'm sorry, sir.
Please forgive me.
Look at you! You made a joke! Careful.
Almost enjoyed England there for a second.
You know, you You may have a point.
About keeping my mind where my body is.
And right now, my mind is telling me to use my body to crack this thing open.
Okay! You just made up for the tea bag.
Almost.
The one friend who's being cheated on? I didn't love how, on the way to the wake, she said, "I didn't realize this would be an all-day thing.
" Y-You're not even in that scene.
I'm just saying.
It makes her very unlikable.
Well, actually, that's sort of the point.
This whole thing explores the idea that in life, just when you think you know someone, you don't.
Mm-hmm.
Mm-hmm.
Maybe take a look at it.
Hey.
How's it going out here? Oh, my gosh! Is this the real-life Regina? Where? Where?! It's such an honor to meet you! It's not often I get face time with the person who inspired the role I might play.
Well, you know, I heard you were here, so I carved some time.
I might even sign your script, if you're lucky.
I'd love it.
And I love the script.
It's not often you find women of color represented with nuance and layers like this.
I see you earmarked the pages you especially loved.
I have some thoughts.
Teeny ones, mostly.
All good.
But I won't let him touch the relationship between Regina and Rome.
It's perfect.
They're the couple everyone roots for.
Yeah.
My husband's an amazing writer.
I thought he was doing okay.
It turns out he's just putting on a brave face for everybody.
Well, I'm sure he feels like he has to, especially for Katherine and Theo.
I see this with a lot of the vets I work with.
As hard as this is physically, it can be just as tough emotionally.
'Cause his life may never be the same.
Maybe not, but at least he has a life.
And what that is depends on what he makes of it.
How do I convince him to see it like that? Get him to commit to a long-term plan.
He needs O.
T.
and physical therapy three times a week.
He needs to understand that he can still do the things that he loves, he just may have to do them differently.
Sounds like somebody's campaigning for the job.
I'm really not.
You're the best.
Which is why I'm booked solid.
Come on.
You could find some time.
Gary, I can't.
Why not? Eddie and I have never really clicked.
Come on.
That's just Ed.
When you meet him, you don't want to like him.
And then you end up loving him.
He's like the Maroon 5 of people.
Do you know how bad it got for Katherine when she found out he was cheating on her? She wasn't eating, she wasn't sleeping.
I was the only one who was there for her at the time.
And honestly, I don't understand how she could forgive him.
Look, I know that he's your friend and you want to help him, and you should.
I just I can't be a part of it.
Is this where we do Fight Club? I heard a couple freshmen talking about this place when we checked in.
Apparently, the residents here sign this wall before they move out.
It's like a rite of passage.
Oh, wait, you think - What year is he? - Uh, '93.
'93? '97 - Oh! Help me? - Yeah.
Ho-ho-holy cow, it's Christmas! Hello there, Sophie! Daddy! Well, Sebastian Fawke, you are a freak.
And I'm sorry we never met.
I don't know.
I think you may have dodged a bullet.
Look at this.
You could've been living with a deejay.
Be stopping every 10 minutes to do traffic on the ones.
Maybe he's an auctioneer.
Ah, what do we have here? Ah.
Ah! It's a beret.
Yeah, the actual raspberry beret.
Do we have 25? 25.
Looking for twen Thank you.
30? Thank you.
Thank you.
Oh, my God.
You know why he has this? No.
Why? She says hello, dressed in yellow Come sit next to me, ya fine fellow He went over there without a second to lose And what comes next? Oh! Bust a move You want it - Ooh! - You got it Oh, you want it Yeah, yeah, baby, got it Bust a move Mom, can I come to work with you after school every day? I don't know.
Carter would be pretty threatened by your mad filing skills.
I like it here.
Can I tell you a secret? I like it here, too.
Being at home the last month was, uh It was pretty hard for me.
It was? Yeah, I mean, I put on a brave face for you and Dad, but sometimes it was just so overwhelming.
That's how I felt when you went to the Grand Canyon.
It was like juggling big wooden clubs all the time.
And when Dad got into the accident, the clubs turned into torches.
And now it's like juggling torches over a volcano.
Look, T, your full-time job right now is to be a kid.
Okay? The only thing I want you juggling is homework and fun.
It doesn't feel right having fun.
Not when Dad can't.
I know.
But Dad wants us to be happy, even though he can't do everything with us like he used to.
So, how long is this coffee break? I hear you, Mendez.
I'm on my way, alright? I-I just I hope it works.
- Hey.
- Hey.
It was cool of Shanice to stay and take selfies with the whole staff.
You think she's gonna do the movie? She wants to see a revised version of the script before she signs on.
I'm telling you, this woman's got notes on her own notes.
Well, she loves the Rome and Regina characters, though.
Do you see my new gym socks? The ones that actually stay up? You know, it's interesting how she sees them, right? As the couple that everyone roots for? They were right here, on top of the saggy ones.
Rome.
- Look at me.
- What? I don't want that to be fiction.
Just talk to me.
Tell me what you're feeling.
What I'm feeling is, you know, i-it's, uh, that I'm not entitled to my feelings.
You know, 'cause if I I-if I acknowledge them, I'm lashing out at you, and if I say nothing, I'm denying myself, right? I don't want you to deny yourself.
I j I just want to know what you're thinking.
You want to know what I'm thinking? I'm mad.
Okay? And I know you're in pain, and the last thing I want to do is add to it.
But I'm in pain, too.
'Cause we could be parenting a child right now, but we're not.
Because you weren't ready.
And then you went and you threw away all the baby stuff without even talking to me.
And somehow, I'm the one who's not talking enough.
- Where the hell are my damn socks?! - Rome I told you I can't talk about it right now! I can't, okay? I got to meet the guys.
Based on the contents of this trunk, I would say we are dealing with a classic narcissist with a heavy dose of Peter Pan syndrome.
Not just because of this pointy elf shoe.
Let's get the doctor to elaborate on that, shall we? Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome back your host.
She first came on your radar when she destroyed my relationship within seconds of walking in the door.
Live from that same living room, your literal Or not-so-literal Armchair psychologist, Dr.
Maggie Bloom.
Wow.
What an introduction.
Really hope I can live up to that.
I'm here with my very special guest, Jamie Clarke.
Now, we've learned a bit about you today, Jamie.
Namely, your penchant for watery tea and petty thievery.
Not necessarily in that order.
Mm.
But let's dig a little deeper.
Tell me, why do you hate therapists Armchair or otherwise? Not all of them.
I love massage therapists.
My lower back's a mess.
That's really great.
Just rich content here.
Seriously, how can you hate therapists when you have never even been to one before? Actually, I have.
Yeah, when I was 15.
Right after my mum died.
My dad wanted me to meet with this child psychologist, Dr.
Avery.
I mean, I-I thought it was a huge waste of time, but I went, you know, to make him feel better.
And all I could talk about while I was there was this school play I was in.
See, my mum she'd, uh, never got 'round to finish sewing my costume.
So my dad ended up hot-gluing it.
I mean, held up pretty good for the first act, but the stage lights got so hot, the whole damn thing just melted off me.
Brought the whole house down.
Only, it wasn't a comedy.
I was I was so angry at my dad.
And so I told Dr.
Avery, and then Dr.
Avery told my dad.
My father was a wreck already.
He could barely get out of bed in the morning.
The last thing he needed was to feel bad about my stupid costume, you know? I should never have said anything.
Uh, no, th That therapist is the one who never should have said anything.
That is not okay.
Wow.
I've I have never told anyone that story.
What can I say? I'm pretty good at this.
Or whatever warlock spell that Fawke chap put on this thing is working.
Well, don't worry.
Wasn't recording.
Soph! What are you doing here? - You okay? - Yes.
Yeah, I'm really sorry.
I'm not trying to crash your date.
I was literally just gonna sneak in.
No, actually, I canceled my date.
Oh.
Are you okay? Yeah, I Yeah.
I will be if you help me eat all that cured meat.
I'd love to.
I'm starving.
Unh! Don't even think about it.
This is insane.
Stop complaining, Professor X.
I'm the one doing all the pushing.
What are we even doing here, man? Same thing we do every Friday.
So, you're in on this, too, huh? In on what? Fridays? Look, guys, I know what you're trying to do here, and I'm telling you I don't need it.
Here's the thing, Ed.
You do.
Yes, what happened to you sucks.
And life may never be the same again.
You're gonna keep living it, you're gonna keep fighting, and you're gonna stay in the damn game.
And as a confidence booster, we figured we'd start with a game you sucked at even before the accident.
Dude! Catch it this time.
Oh, look at that.
Even better than when he had working legs.
You guys are pissing me off! Good.
Get angry.
Put it all out there.
Not for Katherine.
Not for Theo.
- What's the little one's name? - That'd be Charlie.
Do this for you.
Okay? You guys know I was hit by a car, right? Uh-huh.
Shoot.
What you waitin' for? Shoot! Let's see it.
- You satisfied? - Not even close.
Sort of like that shot.
Now that we got the smack talk going, what do you say we, uh, play some ball, gentlemen? First to 21.
1-0.
Check ball.
Why don't you give up the rock? Ed's open.
Okay, set up, set up.
Come get this.
- Get up! - Aah! Oh! - Whoa! - Really? You're gonna block a man in a wheelchair? Oh, was I supposed to take it easy on you? Okay.
What?! Yeah! No one likes a gloater.
Lucky.
Come on.
Let's go.
- You wanna get with me? - Not really.
We got that.
Who's about to get worked? Worked! Now look who's getting worked! Ohh! Game point.
Whoo! For the win! Gloater.
Nobody wants that.
- Ooh! - Damn! That's right, baby.
Set up.
Set it up.
Post! Post up.
Oh! Ohh! - Boom.
- Ohh! - Ohhhhh! - Ohhh! Ha ha! It's just, Harvard is perfect on paper, but I don't know.
Seeing Dad's name on that wall made me realize that going there is not going to make me feel closer to him.
Just trust your gut.
Right? That's what my dad used to say to me when I was your age.
Just be the best version of yourself that you can be.
Yeah, well, right now I think my gut is telling me I ate too much prosciutto.
Mm.
Me too.
Was Miles upset that you canceled? No, he was a total gentleman.
Just like Harvard, he's perfect on paper.
I guess I just wasn't ready to have him here.
In the house I shared with Dad.
You know Tennille told me a story about Dad, and I couldn't even remember it happening.
It's like I'm losing him.
He's still here.
I see him in you.
How smart you are and how you make Danny laugh.
And your music.
Dad was tone-deaf.
Yes.
But he was passionate about what he loved.
Just like you.
I just wish we had more time together.
I know, Soph.
Me too.
Oh, my God! My arms are on fire.
Would you stop complaining? I was playing with my arms and my legs.
Hey, Gary.
Thanks.
It's Friday.
Knock, knock! Oh, yeah! Who's hungry? I, for one, am starving.
Hey.
Try not to sweat all over that lasagna.
Thank you for bringing over dinner, Darcy.
Second that.
Hey.
I didn't know you were home.
Hey.
I knew it.
I knew it was too soon to go back to work.
It's okay.
I'm okay.
Yeah, I-I know, but I'm not.
Look, I can't I can't do this.
I can't go back to work worrying about what's happening at home.
You know, it's not fair to either one of us.
I know.
And that is why we are gonna hire one of those healthcare workers.
Really? And he's gonna start physical therapy.
With me.
What? I thought you You were busy.
I'll move a few things around, make some time in my schedule.
Thank you.
I'll go set the table for dinner.
Where's m'spatula? Kidding.
Thank you.
That was nice.
Don't go getting all soft on me now.
I'm not doing it for him.
I'm doing it for Katherine.
Check, check.
One, two.
Alright.
Here we go.
Keeping your mind where your body is.
Such a simple concept.
But sometimes it's the last place your mind wants to be.
Yeah, it was good.
It tasted old-school.
There are days when your body says "Yes" but your mind says "Slow down a little bit.
" What do you say we break out Liam's Nintendo and spend the night playing "Mario Kart"? Tempting.
But, uh think I'm gonna head out.
Is that because I kicked your butt last time? Certainly a factor.
I just, uh I-I want to make sure that we're not moving too fast.
Because I think you're amazing.
And I really want this to work.
Me too.
I'm now having second thoughts.
You should call later.
You know, say good night to Colin.
Mm.
Unless he eats your phone first.
Keeping your mind and your body in the same place can sometimes leave you wondering who it is you once were.
Hey.
I'm, uh I'm sorry about earlier.
Shouldn't have blown up at you like that, and I j I thought we were on the same page, you know? And then you you went and you got rid of all the baby stuff.
It was like you were just closing the door on us being parents without without even talking to me about it.
I didn't throw away the baby stuff, Rome.
Put it in our storage locker.
But you're right.
We are not on the same page.
I'm still grieving.
And if I'm being honest, it's taking me longer to do that because I feel like I'm doing it alone.
- - But then, when you least expect it, - - something comes around and brings your mind and body back in sync again.
Hey.
I'm sorry I never called you back.
I had to spend some time with Soph.
But, um, she got me thinking.
What if we took a trip to France together? I-I'm serious.
Someone can watch the kids for a few weeks, and I can ask Gina.
Or m-maybe Gary.
But, um, it's a good idea.
Isn't it? Great.
Alright, I'll start making some plans and I love you, too.
Bye, Dad.
I don't know if any of this makes sense.
Or if anyone will ever hear it, for that matter, but a new friend reminded me how important it is to stay present.
So that's what I'm doing.
And three.
Seem to have hit a plateau here.
- Can I open them now? - Not No.
- How about now? - Nope.
Let me guess your hands are in front of my face.
Okay, open them.
Surprise! I love this.
I get first game.
- Show her how it's done.
- I'll make you proud.
Let's do this, Katie.
Ah! Some finesse.
Making me feel something.
She's just a warm-up.
It's me you gotta worry about.
Oh, that must be the delivery guy.
- I'll get it! - Okay.
I ordered you one of those grabber things.
So you can stop using m'spatula.
Hello.
Hi.
Oh! You like that? Beginner's luck.
T? Can I help you? Oh, sorry.
I got the wrong address.
You got a nice kid there.
Make sure you enjoy every moment.
