to cancer, they are trivial,
but thanks to a close friend,
I've realized those
things are still important.
Cancer just took up so much space,
it made it difficult to feel connected
to other parts of my life,
so I had to find the joy again.
Now I'm more grateful
for my life than ever,
and I wouldn't have gotten through
this journey without my village
and this support group
but it's time for me to move on
and leave cancer in my rear view
and fully embrace
the fight for the joy of living."

It was one of those times

for the thing you loved

when you're tired, unhappy,
resentful,
because if you can make
it out of those moments
then you know it's true love.
When you have such an
overwhelming disease like cancer,
there's this fear it's gonna eat
away at every part of your life.
And for me, it did, silently.
I just kept going and going.
My only focus was to
get through treatment,
get through recovery,
don't think too much.
Just survive.
And when I finally did come up for air
and was able to catch my breath,
all of my emotions started
piling up to the surface.
What used to be
important parts of my life
felt trivial,
I guess, because compared
to cancer, they are trivial,
but thanks to a close friend,
I've realized those
things are still important.
Cancer just took up so much space,
it made it difficult to feel connected
to other parts of my life,
so I had to find the joy again.
Now I'm more grateful
for my life than ever,
and I wouldn't have gotten through
this journey without my village
and this support group
but it's time for me to move on
and leave cancer in my rear view
and fully embrace
the fight for the joy of living."
