Hudson and Rex (2019) s03e12 Episode Script

Top Dog

1 Tonight on CityNews.
We're here at the Newfoundland All-Breed Dog Show where 50 polished puppers just went head-to-head or snout-to-snout to see who will represent the province at the upcoming Nationals.
And in the dog days of this competition, anything is possible.
Now over to Dale for the weather.
Can I turn it now? Well, I mean the reason I didn't enter you The reason I didn't enter you is because I knew that you would win too easily.
No, it is true.
Who's a good puppy? Hmm? Who's best-in show? Glockenspiel.
That's who! Francis! Is the Glockster ready for a big run? Oh, we're both ready! And we plan to give you and Delilah - a run for your money.
- Yeah.
Well, not if we have anything to say about it.
- I'll catch you later.
- Mm-hmm.
Come on, girl.
Those tattoos shouldn't be allowed - at a respectable dog show.
- I don't know, Juliet.
It brings a little drama and variety into our little world, - don't you think? - There have to be standards! Otherwise, what are we left with? For those of you just joining us, we are down to our final competitors.
Currently, Juliet Tatum is in first place with her dog, Muffy.
And it looks like Head Judge Martin Baker wearing his signature mustard tuxedo as always has arrived to oversee our final dog and handler teams, the best of the best.
Our next competitor is Bianca Jones and her Australian shepherd, Nico.
And they're off! Through the tunnel, making the contacts for a perfect A-frame.
And now a series of jumps for a clean run.
It's hard to believe these two are rookies.
And through the final tunnel - for a time of 35.
45 seconds.
- Good boy! Good boy! - You did it! - Here's a nice show of support for Bianca and Nico from veteran handler Francis Norton and his dog Glockenspiel.
Bear with us now as the height of the jump is adjusted for our small-breed standard height.
It looks as though our course modifications are complete.
So, let's welcome our second-to-last finalist, Veteran Glockenspiel and his handler, Francis Norton.
Although it looks like our dog is going to run the course on his own.
This is very odd.
Seems as if he's gone under the judges' table.
Help! We need a doctor! Is there a doctor in the house? Somebody please! Help! Oh! Hi, Rex.
- Charlie.
- What have we got? Dog owner competing for a spot in the upcoming Nationals.
His name is Francis Norton.
That's a heck of a lot of blood.
- His carotid artery was severed.
- Murder weapon? No sign of one yet.
Though it looks like his skin was perforated with something narrow.
- Was anything taken? - There was no wallet here.
I suppose it's a pretty risky place for a robbery.
The killer would have had no way of getting in or out without passing all the dog people.
Someone must have seen something.
Maybe the dog people were all distracted by their four-legged friends.
What have you got, partner? Maybe the killer was hiding behind the curtain.
- There's nothing back here.
- Let's bag it.
Now who is in charge of this thing? What a tragedy.
He was such a lovely man.
Did Francis have parents? Children? Maybe a partner? His parents have both passed.
And he's never had a boyfriend in all the years I've known him.
So no support network or family? The dog show circuit is a tight-knit community.
We were his family.
- Of course.
I'm very sorry for your loss.
- Thank you.
Are we done here, Detective? - I need to get back to work.
- Something pressing to attend to? I need to re-schedule the competition.
Your stage is a crime scene.
We still need to establish our winner! The Nationals are in three days.
They're not going to wait for us.
We'll release the crime scene as soon as we can but if it hasn't sunken in, one of the contestants was murdered.
Francis would have wanted the show to go on.
Well, unfortunately, that is not something we can confirm with him.
Now, do you know of anyone who had issues with Francis? No! He was very well-liked in the canine crown circles.
More likely, it was someone from outside.
Why would you say that? Dog exhibiting is an expensive hobby.
And Francis was a wealthy man.
So you're assuming that his murder has to do with a robbery? Where were you when Francis was murdered? Besides being the show's director, I'm also one of the judges.
So I was at my spot at the judges' table.
Did you see anyone near Francis when he was killed? No.
But Anton Pleschette and his dog Delilah were to be up next.
He's a bit of an outsider.
I thought you said you were like family.
Every family has its bad apple.
Huh.
I was so focused on Delilah's run, I didn't even notice Francis wasn't there.
I went back to check in on him.
It still hasn't sunk in yet.
You and Francis were close? Yeah, we were really close.
Francis He was the best human I know.
Hmm.
How long did you know each other? About four years.
We were both loners.
Preferred dogs to people.
I had Delilah.
He had Glockenspiel.
Our dogs got along like a house on fire.
And we discovered we did too.
Did you meet through the dog world? Well, the truth is, we met in AA.
You were the closest to Francis when he was murdered.
Yeah, I know how this looks.
I'm an ex-con.
Tattoos and a pit bull.
Yeah, I was just going to ask if you saw anything.
I might look like a criminal but Francis saw past all that.
He had a He had a huge heart.
One time in AA, I mentioned how it would have been really good for me to have a canine companion while I was inside.
That gave Francis the idea to start up the dog prison program together.
We'd pair prisoners with difficult dogs from kill shelters.
The dogs get spared their lives and prisoners get to practice empathy.
That's the kind of person Francis was.
So how did you get from the prison dog program - to competing here? - Through Francis.
He got me and Delilah involved in agility and he got some of the regular dog show people to do some volunteering at the prison program.
Like Bianca.
You know, you still haven't answered my question.
No, I didn't see anyone.
Okay, I told you my focus was on Delilah.
Whoever it was must have escaped in the dark.
Wait, it was dark? Yeah, for about a minute, to change the course for the smaller dogs.
Did you see anything when the lights came back up? Only that someone had murdered my friend.
Our friend Anton spent some time in prison so his prints are likely on file.
Yeah, except I didn't find any prints on or around the body.
So I have nothing to compare his prints to.
- No luck with the curtain? - No, I've combed it from top to bottom.
Maybe it was the scent of other dogs that Rex was picking up on? Yeah, maybe.
Rex usually knows better than that.
- What else you got? - Well, Francis was restrained from behind.
There was an incision right along the front side of his neck from left to right suggesting the murderer was right-handed.
- Along with ninety percent of the human race.
- Yeah.
We were able to make some headway with the weapon though.
I was able to make a digital reconstruction.
Oh, fun! It was, actually.
Here.
Take a look.
That's the cutting blade of an open pair of scissors but curved scissors.
Like a pair of dog-grooming scissors.
Yeah, I'm sorry I don't have anything more definitive.
Maybe Jesse had better luck.
I've got nothing.
The camera crew's footage is entirely dog close-ups.
Our inside cameras got nothing and the exit nearest to the murder site is in a blind spot.
Which suggests that our killer is familiar with the surveillance on site.
What about the holding area? Well as you can see, it's in full view.
The info Anton gave you about the lights going off checks out.
A minute is not a lot of time.
Yeah, you'd have to be efficient but it's not impossible.
Francis was wealthy.
Somehow, we need to come up with his will to find out who stood to benefit from his death.
Anton was closest with Francis.
He was also closest to him when he was murdered.
He's also an ex-con.
Jesse, find me some information about this Anton character.
Oh yeah.
One step ahead of you.
His name is Anton Pleschette.
He was in and out of prison throughout his 20s for a string of robberies with a guy named Ryker Williams.
His last charge was two years ago.
He was let out early for good behavior but has been clean ever since.
Has he really been clean though? It appears he's been squeakily so.
He delivers cautionary convict tales to at-risk youth.
Talks about rehabilitation.
That's in line with the philosophy of the prison dog program.
So no one's seen anyone? No, but we do know someone who smelled something.
Rex, he led us to that curtain for a reason.
Sarah found no physical evidence on it - but maybe Rex caught the perp's scent.
- Mm-hmm.
You know the finalists, they wanted to have a private toast to Francis at the arena.
- So? - So if we release the crime scene, maybe they'll have it there.
That'll put all the finalists in one room together.
And if our murderer is among them That'd be the perfect tracking opportunity for Rex.
To quote Proverbs: Even in death, the righteous shall find refuge.
Francis, old friend, wherever you might be, I hope you're surrounded by all the things you loved.
Good books.
Good chocolate.
And above all else good dogs.
Here's to Francis.
To Francis.
Ah! He's a handsome boy.
Though he does seem to have some boundary issues.
Yeah, we like to call it friendly.
Oh my! Rather forward, isn't he? We're working on that.
Oh.
I guess he must smell my dog.
Uh, Detective, nice of you to join us.
I see you brought a lady friend.
I I'm just going to go refresh my water.
I think I'll join him.
I need another drink too.
- Oh, Wendall - Okay, so is that, - is that everyone? - Not quite.
- Ah, such a sweetheart! - I'm sorry about that.
- We're a work in progress.
- Oh, honey.
We are all a work in progress.
You should enter Rex in the dog show next year.
He's one good looking shepherd.
Juliet! That poor bitch.
Excuse me? To have an owner who's constantly trying to upstage you.
Sequins? At a wake? So tacky.
I'm not sure she's that bad.
She said that Rex would do really great in the competition.
Well, for the right price, he could probably even win.
What do you mean? Let's just say that Trixie the terrier didn't win Nationals last year because of her mad trot skills.
Francis even called out a certain judge for having something to do with it.
Are you saying that Francis accused a judge of taking kickbacks? We're going to need to know that judge's name.
Um Martin.
But maybe Francis was just being paranoid.
It was just a rumour.
I don't know.
Well, Martin was judging the dogs when the murder took place.
No, he wasn't.
I saw him leave shortly before it happened.
- It is odd that Martin's not here.
- Yeah.
Especially since he considers the contestants like family.
Maybe we should see if Martin can pass the Rex test.
Come on, pal.
Oh.
It's you.
I already sent the security footage.
- Is there something else you need? - How about the truth? We know you weren't at the judges' table - when the murder took place.
- Oh, you're being obtusely literal.
Judges move around the space to view dogs from a different angle.
Now I've got re-scheduling to do.
So if you'd kindly leave me to it.
Please control your dog.
I don't need him slobbering all over my paperwork! This is beyond the pale! What have you got, Rex? Good boy, Rex.
Listen, I get that you have a job to do, but, you have absolutely no right to barge in here like this.
I don't even know what you're expecting to find! I Uhhh These scissors from Martin's room are consistent with the wound and the blood type matches the victim's.
Plus we have a witness that busts Martin's alibi.
It's pretty damning.
Something does strike me as strange.
There were no prints on the weapon.
Maybe the killer wore gloves.
Yeah, but if the killer was careful enough to wear gloves, they should have been careful enough to wipe the blood off the weapon.
Yeah.
And smart enough not to leave the weapon at the scene.
And in such an obvious place? Unless of course it's a frame job.
I mean, it does explain why Rex didn't pick up Martin's scent.
The scent of the blood was a stronger pull than Martin's scent.
What do you think, Rex? Should we give it another try? Thank you for agreeing to speak to me.
This is all a horrible mistake.
Martin, I'm not here to chat.
Really? He didn't bark.
- Meaning? - Meaning Rex thinks you're innocent.
Me, however, I'm going to take some convincing.
So why don't we start with where you were during the time of Francis's murder? I told you, I was viewing the dogs! No no.
Because we have a witness who says you weren't there during the time of the murder.
Oh.
I went to the washroom.
Shall I confirm that with the security footage? Martin, you lied about your whereabouts at the time of the murder.
We have you with the murder weapon.
We also have multiple witnesses who said that Francis accused you of taking bribes.
Okay, yes.
I was offered a bribe! From who? From whom.
A handler.
He didn't make it past first round.
But I assumed he had a vested interest in one of the remaining four dogs.
I was told to meet him outside.
But he never showed.
I'm going to need a name.
Sam Barker.
He was registered with a mixed breed but never made it past the preliminaries.
Now, there are no living Sam Barkers in Newfoundland nor anyone by that name on any recent flights.
So this guy uses a fake name and poses as a dog handler and he figures that Martin as a corrupt judge would make the perfect patsy.
So he murders Francis and frames him for it.
And then disappears without a trace.
Well, he couldn't disappear entirely.
- What about all that footage? - Well, I scrolled through the dog show footage and came up donuts.
The camera just follows the dogs.
What about the security camera? Well, here's where it gets interesting.
Now the angle is bad, but at some point every one of the 50 contestants walked by.
I was able to identify every single one of them, except our suspect.
Yeah.
Here he is, cleaned up and enhanced.
Dressed like a celebrity in hiding.
And dodging security cameras like a pro.
So we're likely looking for a seasoned criminal.
Still, if he was posing as a handler, someone must have seen him.
Well, he and his dog were assigned a bench, next to Juliet's.
Huh.
Maybe she can give us a description.
Yeah, I hear you pal.
Come on.
He was tremendously elegant.
Truly, he had a beautiful body.
Lovely proportions.
What colour hair did he have? A snowy white.
And very thick.
- One thing surprised me about him.
- What was that? He had a voracious appetite for one so small.
- So he was a small man? - Man? - Oh no, I'm talking about the dog.
- Wait.
He was a small dog.
Okay, uh But small for what Roscoe.
That's what he called him.
Roscoe was no Retriever.
He was some type of terrier? Okay, how about the owner? I didn't take much notice of him.
I think he was wearing a sports hat.
Do you mean a baseball cap? How tall was he? Or approximately how old? Medium height.
Medium age.
Anything else you noticed about him other than his medium-ness? Honestly, no.
He spent most of his time outside, smoking.
- Where? - By the recycling bins out back.
Thank you.
Rex.
Hey, Jesse, I was hoping to find a cigarette butt or something out here but it looks like this Sam Barker has managed to sweep away every sign of himself.
Wait a sec.
Rex seems to have found something.
Nice job, partner.
And Jesse, give Sarah a call.
I think I'm going to need her to rush a DNA test.
The DNA test confirmed the dog is a West Highland terrier.
They're known as Westies for short.
Yeah, Sam Barker completely lied on his registration form.
That is not a mixed breed.
It's a Westie.
Well, that's a visual match to the dog that Juliet Tatum described to Charlie.
- It is.
- Yeah, see, West Highland terriers they're pretty uncommon on this, you know, east island.
There are only a handful of licensed breeders in Newfoundland.
Now based on Sarah's estimated age of our Westie, two litters were found in contention.
Twelve dogs.
- Were you able to track down the owners? - Almost all of them.
A good number of the dogs were sold out-of-province.
Seven of them were licensed to local residents.
It was a bit of a wild goose chase.
But then, the breeder did say that one of the pups was returned twice.
- A problem dog? - Exactly, yeah.
The breeder brought him back to the pound.
So I called them up and they knew exactly which Westie I was talking about.
Any idea where he went? He was adopted by the prison dog program.
So, Francis's killer had a prison therapy dog in the competition.
But what did the dog prison program have to do with the dog show? Francis and Anton started the program.
- Anton's a silent partner.
- He's a silent partner? That's odd.
He always seems so proud of it.
He's listed on all the incorporation documents.
He's totally hands off.
He also mentioned that Bianca volunteered for the program.
She was listed more than anyone else.
She's signed in at Iron Port Penitentiary 17 times in the last month.
Rex.
The prison program has been such an important part of my life.
It got me outside of myself, you know? Wasn't it Francis that got you involved? Most of these rich-dog owner types look down their noses at me.
But not Francis.
Huh.
Well, I understand Francis who put up the money for the pilot program.
So I was told, yeah.
This Westie, Roscoe.
You didn't see him at the dog show? We must have had different time slots for the prelim rounds because I definitely would have noticed otherwise.
Yeah, any idea how someone could have gotten him out of the prison - and into the dog show venue? - He had a vet appointment.
Who brought him? The prison transport, I guess.
- You know the transport guy? - No.
Transport's a whole different thing from us.
But I did hear that the prison hires newly-released ex-cons, guys who are having a hard time finding work to be drivers.
I don't know if that's true, but You know who makes the schedule? Prison admin.
They'll be able to give you a name for sure.
Thanks.
The real name of our mysterious suspect is Harry Nichol.
He was released from Iron Port Penitentiary two weeks ago.
- Was he part of the dog program? - No.
But you'll never guess who his former cellmate was.
- I don't like to guess, Jesse.
- You don't want to guess? - No.
- Ryker.
- Anton's old partner in crime.
- Bingo.
So Harry Nichol, our suspect, formally known as Sam Barker, - was cellmates with - Ryker.
Also Anton's old partner who was coincidentally part of this dog prison program.
Started by Francis.
Oh boy.
All right.
I'm going to try to track down Harry Nichol through the system.
Charlie, I want you to talk to Ryker.
See if you can get him to account for his whereabouts.
On it.
Let's go, pal.
Inmate prison tranfer 2148.
Inmate prison tranfer 2148.
Okay, Tiny.
I want you to leave it.
Leave it.
Dammit Tiny! Silly goof! - Okay.
- That's the hardest one.
Once you teach her that, everything else is easy.
Detective Hudson.
This is my partner, Rex.
I understand that Harry Nichol was your cellmate - until about a week ago.
- So? So we're looking for him.
- Any idea where he might be? - Nope.
Hmm.
Officer Connors, Cell 579.
- Officer Connors, 579.
- Hey, buddy.
You know a guy named Anton Pleschette? - Yeah.
- You talk to him lately? Maybe see him? - Nope.
- How about Francis Norton? Look, just because I like your dog doesn't mean I have anything to say to you.
Your badge doesn't give you any leverage in here.
Come on, Tiny.
Let's go.
Come on, girl.
I finally got my hands on Francis's will today.
Check this out.
His entire three million dollar estate is going to Glockenspiel.
Wait.
- The dog? - Mm-hmm.
Is that a thing? - Apparently it is, yeah.
- Rex, take note.
How's a dog going to spend three million dollars? I guess his owner has a few ideas.
Anton.
So now all that money effectively goes to him? So Anton gets Ryker to hire his newly-freed cellmate, Harry Nichol, - to murder Francis.
- We have our motive.
We need to get Anton.
You know the drill.
Any idea where I can find Anton? You just missed him.
He left his dogs and took off.
Rex! Come on, pal.
Anton.
Rex go! Stay back! - What's going on? - You're under arrest for the murder of Francis Norton.
Come on.
That's crazy, man.
You think I conspired with my ex-partner, Ryker and his cellmate, Harry, to murder Francis the only guy who was ever decent to me? With Francis dead, his dog is yours.
Oh, so I had Francis murdered to get his dog? Glockenspiel does come with a pretty big pile of cash.
I love that dog.
We dog people think about where our dogs would go if something should unexpectedly happen to us.
If something happens to Juliet, her housekeeper will take her dog.
If something happens to me, Bianca will take custody of Delilah.
I assume you have someone in line for Rex? That's just how we dog people operate, man.
- Well maybe, but - I had nothing to do with this.
Then why'd you run? Did Ryker tip you off? No.
I was scared.
- Of getting caught? - Of being murdered.
Why? Those scissors were meant for me.
The show switched the order at the last minute because Delilah doesn't get along with Bianca's dog.
Okay.
So, - Francis's killer mistook Francis for you.
- Yeah.
And he knows it by now.
And he's still out there.
So I took off! Who would have a reason to put a hit out on you? Ryker.
He brought a gun to our last big job.
We agreed no guns.
He popped a shot off at the teller! - You made a deal? - I told them what I saw.
I took the deal and Ryker took the fall! I guess he's still out for blood.
Yeah, that's right.
That bastard ratted me out to save his own skin.
So you put a hit out on him - and now an innocent man is dead.
- What? No, I would never put a hit out on Anton.
Ah, let me guess.
Everything's forgiven now.
It's all rosy.
I didn't say that.
I'm saying if I wanted him dead, I'd do it myself.
Well, I guess it's a good thing you're still in prison.
Look, I know you're working with Harry Nichol and someone in the dog show.
If it it's not Anton, who is it? What is that? Every time you volunteered at the program, it was with the same inmate, Ryker.
Um, yeah, we sort of bonded.
Define bonded.
Because Rex found this sequin on his shirt.
Yeah.
I sort of fell for him.
I imagine that that's against the rules.
It is.
I didn't mean for it to happen.
Oh my God.
I sound so cliché.
I tried to break it off.
But he got so mad, saying that he didn't want to live anymore and it was all my fault.
He demanded a reason, saying that he wouldn't accept it unless I was in love with someone else and so I got scared and I just said the first name that came into my head.
Francis.
Ryker said he was going to kill him but I didn't take it seriously because he's on the inside.
I got the kindest guy in the world killed because I'm an idiot.
You're not an idiot.
You're also not the first person to fall in love with a convicted felon.
I'd do anything to go back in time and do everything different.
Francis would still be here.
Well, we can't bring back Francis but we might be able bring his killer to justice.
How? I'm going to need you to go back in and talk to Ryker.
and don't let on that you want to break things off with him.
At least not yet.
But he just killed Francis! We think that it was Ryker's cellmate, Harry Nichol, who killed Francis.
You may be the only way that we can find out where he's hiding.
We will take care of you and make sure that you're safe.
And then you can officially break things off with Ryker once Harry is safely behind bars.
I'll do it for Francis.
Well, it looks like Anton's clear.
- We've just released him.
- So Ryker thought that Bianca and Francis were having an affair.
He gets jealous and gets his ex-cellmate Harry to kill him? Yeah, it looks that way.
Now Bianca's working to see if she can get Harry's whereabouts from him.
Oh guys.
I've scraped every piece of social media I could on this guy but I did identify four pubs that he's frequented.
They're all over town.
So he could be anywhere.
Okay great you get me the names of those pubs and I'll get some plain clothes officers on him right away.
That may not be necessary.
I talked to Ryker on the phone and pretended there was still a chance for us and subtly shifted the conversation to Harry, like you asked.
Any idea where he might be? No, but I did find out Harry has a girlfriend at the oyster place on Water.
Oh, that might be all we need.
You did good work, Bianca.
Then why do I feel so bad? Don't worry, you'll never have to see Ryker again.
Except I have to go back to the prison to pick up my dog.
I don't want to risk Ryker taking out his anger towards me on Tiny.
Well, we can co-ordinate with the prison guards and we can make sure that you and Ryker never have to cross paths.
Deal? Deal.
Tiny will love watching the finals with me backstage.
Oh! You want to watch the show, do you? You guys should come! I'll put your names on the list at the door.
Okay.
Thank you.
Hey.
I'm just waiting for Tiny.
I've got some forms for you to sign.
- Perfect.
- Thanks.
Hey.
Bianca's lead checked out.
Our guys were able to nab Harry on Water Street en route to visit his girlfriend.
Poor guy had no idea what hit him.
Well, that poor guy is why Francis's family is grieving today.
Not to mention Glockenspiel.
Right, partner? Oh.
We should go.
Oh! Yes, we should.
Where are you three headed? Oh, Bianca invited us to the redux of the dog show finals, remember? Oh, wow.
You should be honoured.
I hear they only let the judges and finalists in there.
Well, I guess that's the power of Rex, huh? We'll see you tomorrow.
Nice work today, everybody.
Nice to wrap one up before lunch! Hey there, Joe? Sir? Hey, big guy! I thought you just got picked up! Let's go, Rex! We don't want to miss the agility run, do we? There's something in there.
Bianca! Next up, Glockenspiel.
Beloved companion of the late Francis Norton.
Acting as Glockenspiel's handler, will be Anton Pleschette.
Let's see what these two can do.
And they're off! Up the A frame for a great start! I didn't know! It thought it was Tiny in the crate! It was Ryker! Ryker is in there gunning for Anton! This dog means business.
Mr.
Norton would have been proud of this performance.
Police! Everybody down! Anton! Get off the course! Ughh! You okay? Ughh! Aghhh! Ryker, you're under arrest! Nice work, partner.
Sounds like it was one for the ages.
I bet you someone got video.
Any word on Anton? Yeah.
Both he and Bianca were taken to the hospital.
Anton's in pretty rough shape but he's going to live.
And Bianca was checked out and released.
I just don't understand how someone could fall for Ryker.
How does a guy like that worm their way into women's hearts? - Maybe he didn't.
- What do you mean? Well, I noticed when I untied Bianca, there was no rope burn on her wrists.
And then when I took a closer look at the rope, there was virtually no wear and tear.
No signs of struggle? - Well, that's only possible if - She was in on it.
Wait.
That doesn't make any sense.
What motive would she have? Francis gave custody of Glockenspiel to Anton - in the event of his death.
- So? So Anton gave custody of his dogs to Bianca in the event of his death.
And Glockenspiel now belongs to Anton.
Along with the three million dollars.
So if anything happens to Francis or Anton, then Bianca becomes the sole beneficiary of Francis's estate.
And Ryker was just about to finish off her dirty work when Rex interrupted her plan.
Which means her work isn't done.
We need to find Bianca - before she gets to Anton.
- Rex! Ugh! You looking for this? You know what this is? Anton's will.
See, Francis left his three million dollar dog to Anton and Anton left that same dog to you.
I didn't know that.
Yeah, you did.
You also knew about Ryker and Anton's history and that Ryker wanted revenge.
I have no idea what you're talking about.
Which made him a very powerful tool because you could get him to do your dirty work with nobody being the wiser.
All you needed to do was get him to fall for you.
Wait, what? I told you, I fell for Ryker.
I'm the victim! No, you're not the victim.
Let's forget about Anton and just get out of here.
Go live our lives like we talked about.
Anton is what's standing between us and three million dollars.
We don't need that money.
We'll figure something out.
You took a hit out on Francis.
Might I remind you that the trail leads to you and you alone? Because you asked me to! You said he was stalking you! I'm beginning to wonder if that was actually true! Yes, it's true! And so is this! If you miss this opportunity, you'll always regret it.
Ah, jeez.
We'll meet at the cabin after, just like we planned.
Okay.
I love you.
You never had any intention of meeting Ryker anywhere.
Did you? Uhhh! You've got no evidence against me.
We have more than enough evidence against you.
You know you told me that you couldn't stand the rich people at the dog show? I think you couldn't stand not being one of them.
I heard that Anton's using the money he inherited to make this pilot program a permanent thing.
These dogs deserve better than me.
Looks like you've got a visitor.
Hey, Anton.
I heard you started this prison dog thing.
Yeah.
You did that for me? And then I tried to kill you.
Yeah.
These dogs are my lifeline, man.
Thanks.
Come on, partner.
- Oh hey! - Hey.
- How'd it go? - Well for a prison visit, it went pretty good.
- You get my text? - About tonight? Yeah, count me in.
I thought it was time that we had people over to our new pad.
Great! I'll bring the vino.
We've got lots to celebrate! Huh buddy? Give me some paw action.
Yeah! Hey, Sarah, there's been something I've been wanting to ask you.
Sounds serious.
Would you take Rex if something were to happen to me? - I mean, nothing's going to happen to you.
- Yeah, no, I know.
It's The K9 unit might assign him to a different partner.
But, um it doesn't always happen.
In which case, he would need a more - permanent domestic situation.
- That's right.
If it's too big of an ask - don't' - No.
No no no.
I would be honoured.
That's, that's great.
I'm very glad.
What do you think? Huh? I'd be your new mom! Hey, pal? You and me hanging out on the bed.
Uh, he's not allowed on the bed.
Eating chocolate ice cream.
Chocolate is actually pretty lethal for dogs.
Watching 90 Day Fiancé, huh? In your cute little dog sweater! Wearing your matching cap and booties! You can't - You're joking.
- Yeah, I'm joking.
You're cruel, Doctor.
Very cruel.
So, $1700 for the coffee maker? And it doesn't work! Well, it used to! - No, it's too strong.
- What do you guys think? - Should we have a toast? - Thanks, partner.
Huh? To another case closed? - Cheers! - Hey! - Cheers.
- Cheers.
Mmmm! You know what? We should also be celebrating Rex.
Talk about a viral sensation! Rex's highest number of views so far.
It's going to be hard to top that one.
Eh, buddy? I think he'll think of something.
You always do.
Don't you, partner?
