He's sweating with no fever.
Hey, somebody call Cap.
Tell her to call 911.
The ER doctor said the cold
must've taken him out.
A cold doesn't do that.
SHARON: Memory care? Assisted living?
Full-time care. I don't
I-I kind of don't buy it.
I don't think we can afford to buy it.
[PHONES BUZZING]
Silver Alert. Missing senior.
- Bode.
- It's Papa Leone.
But the most important thing
is you're okay.
Come on. Let's go upstairs.
EVE: Hey, Manny, what's wrong?
Just feel a little nauseous.
You're sweating with no fever.
Just like Birch.
[RADIO CHIRPS] Greencrest,
this is Three Rock Crew Four.
I have a patient
with respiratory distress,
and I need an ambulance right now.
[RAIN FALLING, THUNDER RUMBLING]
DR. GRICCI: Mr. Perez?
I'm Dr. Gricci with toxicology.
- How are you feeling?
- Oh, you know.
[CHUCKLES WEAKLY] Like I ate roadkill.
DR. GRICCI: Your labs show
significant levels of organophosphate.
Wh what's that?
Pesticide poisoning. We're
gonna administer atropine.
It's an involuntary
nervous system blocker.
Also, some pralidoxime.
A nerve agent inhibitor?
DR. GRICCI: It helps
with this kind of poisoning.
Improves respiratory function.
We'll monitor his kidney
function for a few days.
The goal is to avoid organ failure.
MANNY: Cap.
EVE:Yeah?
This has to be what got Birch.
EVE: Yeah, good point.
How do you get exposed
to organophosphates?
Could be a number of things.
Food, landfills, chemicals.
Yeah, we had a guy die suddenly
at our fire camp,
no explanation why.
Then I would definitely call
CDCR Health.
Have the camp tested.
I'll check on you later.
[THUNDER RUMBLING]
You two need to go before
they close the roads. And, Cap,
you have to check
on the Three Rock guys.
EVE: Yeah, will do. Just keep fighting.
MANNY [WEAKLY]: Gabriela.
GABRIELA: I love you.
Hang in there, Dad.
See you soon.

[CHUCKLES]
I'm sorry. I'm just
a little distracted
with Manny in the hospital
and taking my nonno
to his new home today.
Buena Vista Memory Care,
or as he calls it, Club Dead. [CHUCKLES]
[CHUCKLES] He has a way
with words, doesn't he?
Yeah. Just, I'm worried about him.
I just don't want him
to lose his sense of purpose
in that place.
What choice do you really have
if he needs a higher level of care?
He thinks all he needs is microwave
dinners and Warriors games.
He's pissed,
and he's taking it all out on my dad.
He and my mom are just stressing about
how to pay for it, this new home
that he doesn't even want.
It's like nobody wins.
You know my prison moms Lynette?
Before she was incarcerated,
her mom was diagnosed
with pancreatic cancer.
And one day she realized you
really can't make 'em happy.
You just got to keep 'em
comfortable and distracted.
What's with the bandage?
I was clearing some trees.
A side gig I was doing
for some extra cash.
For who?
Um, some old friend.
You don't know him.
- Ah. I got to go.
- Okay.
[SIGHS]
Comfortable and distracted.
That's my new M.O.
[THUNDER RUMBLING]
That's too many. Yeah.
Oh, I'm so glad you made it.
Yeah, thanks for coming, kid.
Thought Nonno could, uh,
start with a stocked fridge.
I'll probably need a few of
those by the end of the day, too.
All those go in the truck?
Yeah.
Good morning.
What's going on?
What are you doing with my stuff?
Uh, it's moving day over to Buena Vista,
like we've been talking about
for a while now.
I didn't agree to anything.
Oh, uh, you did, Walter.
No, I didn't.
Bode, put my stuff back in my room.
Nonno, why don't we
Why don't you and I sit down
and have a cup of coffee first?
VIOLET: Mmm.
What smells like my grandma's

Oh, well, that would be

- Oh, my gosh.
- Thick-cut bacon
and a fruit plate
that you weren't supposed
to see until I brought it to you.
Breakfast in bed. That's a bold move.
Says the girl who's wearing my T-shirt.
Oh, well, you know,
I didn't want to pour myself
back into last night's outfit.
Well, you can wear my T-shirt
anytime you want,
but I do have a roommate.
Oh, my God. I have no pants on.
[LAUGHS] Well, he has
already left for the day.
Oh. [SIGHS]
For future reference.
So there's a future?
Oh, I, uh

- It's here.
- Huh?
My rejection letter for that
dream company I interviewed with.
I I got the job.
Well, what? Uh, congratulations.
That's-that's amazing.
[LAUGHS] No.
No, this doesn't make any sense.
I am fresh out of law school.
It's a highly paid in-house position.
- This never happens.
- But it did
because that company
knows something that I do.
That you're amazing.
Take the win.
[THUNDER CRACKS]
I bet you've been
looking forward to this day
for a long time, huh, Vin?
Yeah, just
take me to some home,
throw a blanket over my lap,
point me to the sun.
Nonno, that's not fair.
Actually, Dad,
if you really want to know,
I've been doing everything
that I can to avoid it.
Well, I want to talk to Luke
because he would never agree to this.
I'm sorry you don't remember
this, but you did talk to Luke.
- Oh, I bet you are sorry.
- BODE: Why don't we talk
about the Warriors game?
How about the Warriors?
- Oh, the game last night.
- You and Luke, you had many,
- many conversations.
- You played some mind game.
I mean, well, two conversations.
- I don't remember.
- I know you don't remember.

- If Luke agreed to this, that means
you manipulated him,

- I don't
- Okay, enough!
Sorry, folks, road's closed down.
The road is closed up ahead.
It's flooded out.

- Should we turn around?
- We'll go to the station
and we'll wait it out there.
Go to my old station over Club Dead?
I'm in. Let's go.

Why don't you ride out the
storm in the break room, Dad?
Hey, I was a fighting fires
when you were in diapers,
and I used to run this place,
in case you forgot.
Used to. Long time ago.
Hey, Vince, come on.
And you did it damn well.
WALTER: I taught you
everything you know,
and now you're acting some,
like, big shot around me, huh?
Yeah, you taught me a lot,
both good and bad.
Never said otherwise.
Oh, bad. [LAUGHS] Let's hear that, huh?
Oh, I see what you're doing.
Now you're gonna complain about
what a bad upbringing you had
just to justify your actions.
I don't have to justify my actions, Dad.
Because you're sick.
I'm sorry you're sick. Okay?
Not my fault.
Quit trying to blame me for it.
After everything I did
for you and your brother,
after your mother split.
Mom didn't split.
She suffered you for me and
Luke for as long as she could.
And, yeah, when Luke turned 18,
she got out. You know why?
Because she couldn't stand you anymore!
She didn't give you your career.
I gave that to you, Vinnie.
I gave it to you!
And this is how you repay me?
You dump me in some home
like I'm a piece of garbage
so I can rot away?
I'll never forgive you for this.
Ever.
Good.
We'll both have something
we don't forgive each other for.
I'm gonna kick your ass!
There he is. Come on, Dad!
Hey, Nonno. Nonno. Nonno. [SCREAMS]
Hey.
This is breaking my heart, Nonno.

[INDISTINCT RADIO TRANSMISSION]
He's a proud man
losing his grip on life.
Please be patient with him.
He loves you more than you think.
Yeah. Still showing that "love"
same way he did when I was a kid,
with a belt or a fist.
He probably won't even
remember doing it.
Well, the first part,
those are his demons, not yours.
And the second, that's
the illness, not the man.
Chiefs, uh, we just got a call.
Point Cruz Lighthouse

30 miles north of Petrolia.
An old stairwell collapsed, and, well,
I think I should get up there
before the storm gets closer.
Hey, is everything okay?
Yeah.
What can I do to help?
[SIGHS]
Why don't you take Bode with you?
He could probably use the work
to focus on.
Sure.
- SHARON: Thank you, Jake.
- Yeah.
BODE:
Hey, did I, did I hear Violet
in your room this morning
when I was leaving?
All right, all right.
Yeah, I mean, it's moving fast,
but I did put my foot in my mouth.
How?
Well, I made a comment,
"for future reference,"
and she was like,
"Oh, so we have a future?"
So, fast fast.
Yeah, yeah, fast fast.
B, I wanted to be like,
"Hell yeah, we have a future," but
you know, that's too much.
And then she got an email
that changed the subject, so
Saved by the bell.
I guess.
[THUNDER RUMBLING]
Whew, it's biblical out there.
In here, too. Fire and brimstone.
WALTER: Hey!
Hey, hey, hey. What's going on here?
Less yakking and more stacking.
- Let's go.
- Copy, Chief.
- On it, sir.
- WALTER: Hear that?
"Chief," "sir," that's respect.
You and Vinnie can learn
from these young guns.
Yes, we do respect you, Walter.
Could you please respect me,
retired Chief Sir Father-in-Law,
and not bark orders at my crew?
Now, listen, what you
got to do with these kids,
- is you got
- Walter.
Walter.
Hey, Chief.
You want me on sandbag distro?
Yes, but first,
a-a little yakking before
the stacking. How's your dad?
He's better. He's stabilized.
Oh, thank God. I mean,
first Birch and now Manny.
Yeah, they found high levels
of pesticide poisoning
in his blood work.
From-from what? From where?
Still unknown.
But at least we know what it is now, and
Eve's on it. She's not gonna
stop until she figures it out.
She better not.
[THUNDER RUMBLING]
[HORN BLARING, SIREN WAILING]
[INDISTINCT CHATTER NEARBY]
Thank you for coming.
The stairs inside the place fell apart.
An entire tour group of Brits
are stranded up there.
JAKE: All right, hey.
- Go help with the ladder.
- Yeah.
All right, can you keep
these people back and safe?
Thank you.

JAKE: Okay. Hey, everyone. Hold tight.
We're here. We're gonna get you down.
How's that happen?
It's an old-ass building, that's how.
Major code violations.
Oh, Vince, is that you?
All right, listen up, this is the plan.
We're gonna stabilize
the ladder on the landing
and egress those tourists
down slowly, one at a time.
Hey, everyone. Step
away from the railing.
We'll get you down shortly.
All right, guys, make some space.
Here you go, Terry. Here's a few more.
Sand is out back, and any used sandbags
can go in the landfill after the storm.
- GABRIELA: Hey, Finn.
- Hey.
How's your leg?
Yeah, it's better. Yeah.
Not gonna be running
any marathons anytime soon.
Full disclosure, I already
wasn't gonna. [CHUCKLES]
Um, can I take a look?
No, no, no. You don't have to do that.
Come on. I could use the distraction.
Uh, my dad's in the hospital.
Oh, I'm-I'm sorry. Is is he okay?
I hope so.
Right here.
Ah
Let's see.
Wow, gloves and everything.
You've done this before.
[CHUCKLING]
[WINCES] Ow. Okay, um
You know what?
I'm gonna distract us both.
Lightning round, ready?
Uh early bird or night owl?
I'm a firefighter. I got to be both.
That's a great answer. [CHUCKLES]
All right, your turn. Go.
Dogs or cats?
Both, too. If it has fur, I love it.
All right, my turn, um
Ocean or mountains?
Definitely ocean. I used to be a diver.
Like for sunken treasure?
[LAUGHS] No. [LAUGHS]
Uh, like, for something
called the Olympics.
Uh are you serious?
It's not as cool as it sounds.
[LAUGHS] I, um, I choked,
and I came in 14th.
The Olympics? I mean
And you fight fires? What don't you do?
I don't do scary movies,
haunted houses, or escape rooms.
She doesn't like a surprise.
There you go.
Should be good to go.
Just keep the wound covered.
Uh, just one more thing. I, uh
I just want to look at you in
awe one more time, just like
The Olympics.
[LAUGHS] Shut up. Go get your sandbags.
Yes, ma'am. [GRUNTS]
Neighbor guy from the hoarder house?
He's cute.
I understand your concern.
Thank you. Thank you. Yes.
Uh, there is a team there
reinforcing the bridge as
we speak. [TIRES SCREECH]
I think [HORN HONKING]
Uh I'll have to call you back.
Dude, just chill here.
I'll find someone.
Thank you, thank you.
Hey. Oh-oh, my God. Thank you.
My friend, he-he's
all messed up. He can't move.
He got hurt real bad.
He got impaled on something when
we were out surfing in the storm.
In this storm? Really?
Right now? Surfing?
Yeah, chasing the 50-footers, and then
he got pushed out of a barrel
like a rag doll,
and then he hit some beach wreckage.
- Help me, please.
- Tell me how this happened.
I, uh, pearled into a wave.
Hit the shore, then
a sharp pain under my ribs.
I was able to walk myself to the van,
but ever since, I feel kind of woozy.
- Okay.
- Yeah. [WINCES]
All right, it looks like
it's lodged in your ribs.
Can't you just yank it out or something?
Uh, might be a little risky.
We could, you know, hit an organ
or cause a bleed.
We're gonna leave it in there till we
get to the hospital,
soon as the roads open again.
Well, can't you, like,
airlift me out or something?
Oh, that'd be dope, right?
I-I see why you'd like that,
but a helicopter can't really
land in this weather,
right? So, you stay here.
Guys, I need some help.
Um, bring a spine board.
Be right back.
- TOMMY: Dude, you good?
- Yeah.
[THUNDER RUMBLING]
EVE: I need you to send doctors
and med techs to Three Rock
ASAP, okay?
[COUGHING, GROANING]
Hey, Ames.
You okay?
No.
I got this bug, too.
Any idea what the hell it is?
It's pesticide poisoning.
Oh.
Manny was diagnosed and treated,
and I'm working to get that
for everybody else. Hey,
Three Rock, listen up.
Hey, I'm sorry that you guys
aren't feeling well.
And I'm pushing D.O.C. Health Admin
to get you guys the help that you need.
All right, I'm calling
for an immediate work stoppage,
and I'm I-I'll be advising 42
that you guys are just down
and out for the count right now.
[MAN COUGHING] But I need,
I need you to stay hydrated.
Okay? Everybody, stay hydrated.
Because I'm gonna get you help,
I promise.
I promise.
You think all their weight's
gonna bring down
- the rest of that landing?
- Yeah, well, let's hope not.
But this is our only option.
It's either this or we bring
'em down through the window,
which is too risky with
all the high winds and rain.
[THUNDER RUMBLING]
All right, hey, everyone, listen.
So, what you're gonna do
is climb down the ladder slowly,
all right? We're gonna
spot you from down here.
One step at a time.
All right, first up.
Go slow. You're okay.
There you go.
- There you go.
- All right. Next one. Let's go.
- There you go.
- You got it.
Nice and slow.
All right, you're almost there.
All right, go ahead.
There should be one more up there.
- Come on down.
- Here you go.
I really don't like heights.
You're gonna be okay. I got you.
[WHIMPERS]
Nice and easy.
There you go.
[LANDING CREAKING] [EXHALES]
Okay.
Go slow. You're okay.
I'm slipping! [SCREAMS]
JAKE: It's okay. [SCREAMING]
JAKE: You all right, ma'am?
- LACEY: I'm not sure.
- Bode, you okay?
[GRUNTS] Yeah. I'm all right.
Ow, ow, ow, my foot.
Did I just break my foot?
Here.
[WINCES]
No, it looks like your ankle.
What's your name?
Lacey.
Sorry if I, um, landed on you.
Thank you for catching me.
Okay, hey. Let me, let me check
the back of your neck. Any pain?
- No.
- Okay. Hey.
Let's get her out of here.
Sit her in that chair.
All right.
Three. One, two, three.
Good.
All right, there you go.
[CLATTERING]
Someone else still up there?
Yeah, I'm up here. I'm Carlton
the lighthouse keeper.
Okay, hey, sir, you just hang tight.
We'll reposition the ladder
and bring you down.
No, no, no, I'm not coming down,
not yet.
What-what do you mean?
CARLTON: My scanner just squawked
about two fishing vessels
and a tour ship off course
and in distress, fighting
force 11 northwest winds.
They're at risk
of crashing into the rocks
after the storm
knocked out the local GPS.
Wrap and ice this.
We'll be back in a sec.
You're doing great.
B, let's go.
[THUNDER RUMBLING, WIND WHISTLING]
[CLICKING]
Hey, sir, it's time for you
to come with us.
But those ships
Yeah, are a matter for the Coast Guard.
That's their expertise.
Used to be my family's
area of expertise.
Look, I'm a fifth-generation
lighthouse keeper.
GPS made us obsolete,
antiquated.
Turned this place into a tourist stop.
Till today.
What are you saying?
I can protect those ships, so I have to.
I've been trying to light the beacon
since I heard the GPS went out.
Okay, so you want to turn this museum
into a working lighthouse?
Well, to keep those ships from crashing,
to keep people from peril? You bet.
Does any of this stuff even still work?
Yeah. Now, if you just
open up this rusted-out panel,
reset all the fuses, we should be good.
You save people, right?
I can help you.
Go.
Doctors and meds are on
the way, guys. [COUGHING]
Put in a request with the D.O.C.
to do a chemical audit of the area
and test for exposure.
Here you go, man. [GROANS]
Feels like the worst food
poisoning I ever got hit with.
Yeah, but it can't be the food.
I mean, we eat the same, and I'm fine.
[SIGHS] Kind of hate you for that, Cap.
[VOMITS]
Oh, damn, Big Mike. Um
What do you need, bud?
Refill. I can't stay hydrated.
Okay, well, look,
I'm-a do you one better,
and I'm gonna get you
some ice-cold water
from my cooler in my office.
My cooler
- No, Ames, don't.
- What?
Um, everybody [STAMMERS] Stop
drinking the tap water, okay?
Hey, all of these need to go
in the trash.
And I'm gonna order a pallet
of bottled water ASAP.
Hello? This is Captain Eve Edwards
with Three Rock Con Camp.
I need our water well tested ASAP.
[THUNDER RUMBLING]
That should work.
- Thank you.
- BODE: Yeah, hope so.
Here's to swimming with mermaid women.
It's a lighthousesaying.
Just turn on the light.
[SIGHS]
[WHIRRING]

[THUNDER CRASHING]
Long night?
Uh, no.
Weird morning.
This is the part where you
tell a friend about it.
[CHUCKLES] I don't think
I should talk to you
about this particular issue.
Let me guess
Bode?
Yeah.
It's fine, we-we don't
have to talk about it, really.
Yes, we do. It is bugging you,
and he's in my rearview.
My future is bright
and possibly with Finn.
Really?
Dish.
Okay.
Bode said he was working
this "side job."
It's like
What? He already has two jobs.
I don't know. He was just
really cagey about it.
Hey, hey. Where do you think
you're going?
- [STAMMERS] Just
- GABRIELA: Hey. Hey!
I got to get back out there.
These are once-in-a-decade waves.
- Where's my van, by the way?
- No, no, no, no.
You're not going anywhere, okay?
You want to end up
like your buddy in there?
No, I totally understand,
all right? I'm aware of what
Octagon and lavender. Shh
That's gibberish.
- Sugar glider.
- Oh
Whoa. Hey.
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
He's having a seizure!
Get me some O2 and a BVM!
SAILOR 1 [OVER RADIO]:
Coast Guard, this is The Indio.
We can see the beacon two miles off.
We're throwing engines
into full reverse. Thank you.
SAILOR 2: Coast Guard,
this is The Aegean Condor.
We can see the shoreline now.
We're veering northwest
two degrees
- and will drop anchor.
- Oh, yeah,
this baby still has life in her.
[ALL EXCLAIMING]
Back up, back up.
Oh. Okay, well, that's not good.
Hey, get the fire extinguishers now.
Oh, no, no!
[OVER RADIO]: This is Captain
Robert Perlmutter
of the Queen Margaret.
We do not register a beacon yet.
Where's the shoreline?
We're sailing blind.
- BODE: One ship is still out there.
- JAKE: Hey, hey.
Fire first.
Jake, we're losing it.
- Hey. I got some water here.
- JAKE: No!
This is an electrical fire.
Where's your breaker?
No, we can't turn off the electricity.
How are we gonna get the beacon back on?
We got to breach the wall.
Make sure the fire
doesn't spread inside
the frame of this place.
No, no, no, no.
Get back. Get back.
Look, we need room. Okay?
We're trying to save your lighthouse.
[GRUNTING]
All right, B, knock it down.
Get it right there, B.
He's postictal.
Pulse is rapid but strong.
Hey, Tommy, can you hear me?
What happened?
You had a seizure.
GABRIELA: Did you hit your
head today on something?
Yeah, on some rocks,
but it happens all the time.
It's no big deal. [GRUNTS]
Probably got a concussion.
- I want to get back out there. I got to
- No, no, no. Whoa.
Your brain needs to rest.
No, I need to get back out to the waves.
You need to take care of yourself.
Listen to sound medical advice.
No more sparks.
We're good to go.
With respect, Cap, not yet.
There's still another ship out there.
CARLTON: If we don't make some light,
it'll hit the rocks and sink.
Okay, look, I hear you,
but the beacon won't turn on.
The electrical system
is fritzed. That's reality.
We don't need electricity, just light.
What're you thinking?
I'm thinking that we start
a small burn up there
in the lamp room.
Something we can control.
JAKE: No. Too risky.
One spark goes the wrong way,
and Carlton's lighthouse goes up.
It's worth the risk.
I'd risk everything
just to save one of those ships.
It's my purpose.
- Will the light be bright enough?
- CARLTON: Yes.
The Fresnel lens
in that beacon is powerful.
It'll focus any light 20 nautical miles.
Cap?
Clock's ticking.
This is Captain Crawford
calling for additional units
at Point Cruz Lighthouse in Petrolia.
Requesting additional units.
We're about to light a controlled burn.
Okay, can you just let me know
when the road opens up?
Oh, my God. Did you drive here
in this storm?
Yeah, I had to.
Three Rock's turning
into a hospital ward.
- Everybody's getting sick.
- Oh, honey.
Thank you.
Did the D.O.C. send doctors?
Yeah, but we're gonna need
more help than that. Your help.
Okay.
I think I figured out
what's causing the outbreak.
The water.
- The water?
- Everybody's been drinking it
but me. I have my own
personal cooler in my office,
which explains why everybody's
getting sick and not me,
but I found the land coordinates
of our well source
that's in Vaspar Wetlands.
You're so smart.
We can put these contacts
into the county database
and see who owns the land.
Maybe we can figure out
who's poisoning my guys.
I've had one guy that's died,
and now I have Manny who's down.
It's just, this is, this is
killing me, Sharon. I just
[SIGHS] [GASPS]
- Oh, God. Oh, God.
- What? What?
It's Oxalta. Oh
That's the biggest
chemical company in California.
They're one of the most
influential benefactors of the state.
They have a senator on their board
and a couple of congresspeople.
Well, do you have any contacts there?
[SIGHS] I do,
but we're gonna have to tread lightly.
Oxalta is a behemoth.
[SIGHS]
Just give me something else
I can help you with.
Yeah, I told you,
there's turnouts in bay three,
they need a hose-down.
A probie job? Vin, come on.
[LIQUID POURING]
Well
there's this surfer kid over here,
keeps chirping about
going out in the storm,
even though he just had a seizure.
You want to talk to him?
You know, 'cause
he's stubborn, like you.
