Like, I was so scared they were

I just was dying inside,
sitting up on stage,
like, feeling a breeze, like, in my ass.
You've really been an entrepreneur,
I mean, since you were a teenager.
As I was looking through
the history of the deals you've done,
the early deals look very much like
they're in a licensing structure.
KIM: Yeah, I think early on in my career
there was no real blueprint
of where I wanted to go,
and so, I would do licensing deals
and see if it was something
that I was really interested in.
Then, when I got tired
of not having the full control,
with the help of my mom and sisters,
I was able to figure
out what I really liked
and how to make those goals happen.
My whole team at Skky Partners,
they had, like, on their goal list,
some companies
that they really wanted to buy,
and those companies
have called us, being like,
"We believe Kim understands both sides,"
and, like, wanting me on the board,
and wanting me to be
a part of the company,
and it's a fascinating process.
I mean, I think it's just so important,
if I'm gonna work with a company,
to really talk to the founder
and see what their DNA of their brand is
and who they are.
I think that's really
the only way to be successful.

- KIM: Helping these other brands
achieve their goals,
I think there's nothing more exciting,
and I'm just so happy to be a part of it.

I didn't miss for five years.

but when we started,
I feel like Kourt and I weren't
really in a great place,

because he's still living with me
while his house is being fixed.
And of course, Tristan could've
gone to a hotel,
but his brother needs a lot
of full-time, 24-hour care
with the help of nurses and medical staff,
and a hotel isn't really
a good place for that.
And, you know, I love him
and I want the best for him.
Sometimes he doesn't sleep well.
His seizures are triggered by sleep.
You're like a full doctor now,
you know everything.
No, I just know a lot about him.
Yeah.
Amari has epilepsy,
and his form of epilepsy is LGS.
It's one of the most
severe types of epilepsy,
so there's no playbook,
there's no rule book,
we don't know what the hell we're doing.
And I say "we" because
I am on all of his medical
stuff for Amari.
After, you know, everything's
happened with my mom, like,
I needed someone
that can help me through this,
- and you've answered the call.
- Of course.
I definitely feel overwhelmed,
but nothing that I can't handle.
Like, I just wanna help
in any way that I can, help relieve
some sort of responsibility
to people that are grieving
the loss of their mother.
Listen, with my dad, when he died,
I didn't think straight
for three years, minimum.
I just remember finally seeing
light at the end of the tunnel
three years later.
So, I can't imagine losing my mom
and then having the responsibility of
taking care of anyone,
because you barely
wanna take care of yourself.
You're just, like at least I did.
And you just wanna be depressed,
and you have every right to be.
And so we'll always just be there.
It's the right thing to do.
TRISTAN: Yeah.
But you have to figure out
how we take care of him.
Yeah, Amari loves you.

I don't know if this sounds really dark
and I don't even know
if anyone would understand this,
so I'm gonna say it,
but I feel like
I'm equipped with the tools
because of what I went through with Lamar,
who couldn't walk, who was bedridden,
who couldn't speak for months.
With my ex-husband,
when he was in his coma,
like, some of the doctors were like,
"He can't hear,"
like, "He's brain damaged,"
and I would play music
that I knew he liked,
and I would just always talk to him.
And then when he was able to talk,
he would say, "I heard everything
you would say.
I would try to talk to you."
And I was like, "I knew it."
So, like, who knows how much Amari knows.
