Tonight, as the teams head
into the hills of northern Vietnam,
the temperature rises

They told us that was a rule.
..and our firey

They're changing the scales around!
..explodes.
Stop cheating! Oh! Hey.
Don't get on the wrong side
of this one.
Definitely saw another side
of the old duck.
But in the competition's
biggest twist

..one team will risk everything
..to survive.
For the fourth leg
of The Amazing Race Australia,
we're in rural Vietnam,
in the Ninh Binh province,
100 kilometres from
the bustling capital of Hanoi.
With a backdrop
of limestone mountains
and the famous Red River delta,
Ninh Binh is the lifeblood
of traditional Vietnam
and today, our nine remaining teams
will be departing
in the order they arrived
at the last pit stop.
Make your way to the ancient village
of Hoa Lu,
and prepare four bundles of incense.
At Hoa Lu Citadel, teams have got to
find a giant stack of incense
in the village.
Here, they have to make four bundles,
each weighing two kilos,
then deliver them
to Chua Nhat Tru Temple
to receive their next clue.
Sounds pretty straightforward,
but the race is good
at throwing up tricks
here and there. So
All the time.
Keeps us honest.
Having Vietnamese heritage
..super, super confident
in the sense
that we have that advantage.
Yeah, I just told him
that we're in a hurry.

I think our main competition
going into this next leg,
we'd say Viv and Joey.
He speaks fluent Vietnamese
..so we wanna definitely focus
on him today
and hopefully overtake that team.

in the first couple of legs
and now we've got our rhythm.
Today's about thinking
and slowing it down.

..obviously that's where we perform.

Because we were
the non-eliminated team,
we are going to go

A speed bump is a disadvantage
in their first challenge.

And that was a huge mistake.

You couldn't just grab a bunch
and put 'em in a bundle,
you had to get them

The only marked gate I've found
..is the one right down,
near where the other temple is.
It's the only marked gate
that I've seen in here.

There was this massive mound of
thousands upon thousands of incense.
We thought, "Jeez, this looks fun."

We started the day in first place.
However, we lost our lead
basically straightaway.

So there was thousands
of incense things
that you had to grab
and put together.
Everyone was just going, picking out
those sticks as fast as they could. Yeah.
Four bundles, this will take a while.
This is the marked gate to the

This is where we have to wait, Am.
Because we were
the non-eliminated team,
there was a speed bump.
"You must prepare one extra bundle
of incense"
We had to do not only for bundles,
like everybody else,
but an extra one on top. So five.

A fast forward is the single
biggest advantage of the race -
a team that successfully completes
a fast forward
can skip directly to the pit stop.
And the team to choose this
fast forward
must attach just a few of these
shrimp baskets to the back
and ride down the road
and deliver them to this fisherman.
How are you, mate?
And when I say a few,
there are 320 of these bad boys
hanging off this bike.
It's a high risk,
high reward challenge
and until one team completes it,
this fast forward is up for grabs.
We've taken a gamble and gone
for the fast forward
to try and give us a bit
of a head start
to the finish line, hopefully.
Just desperately want
that number one position, hey.

In this detour, teams will decide
between short strokes or long strikes
and it's all set side by side
on this remote island.
In short strokes, teams
have to paint an exact replica
of the mask their partner's wearing.
The art of creating colourful masks
is traditionally part
of the full moon festival
and it needs detail
and concentration.

Or choose long strides, which will
elevate them to unsteady heights.
Stilt walking
is the name of the game.
Each team member has gotta
complete a circuit
and it's only one team member
at a time.
Once complete,
they'll receive the next clue
and continue racing.

The Bai Dinh Temple grounds
is the largest Buddhist complex
in South-East Asia.
Here teams must search
among 500 Buddhist statues
to find the one monk with both feet
resting on an animal -
Phap Luan Son.
Once they locate Phap,
they need to climb this belltower.
Once judged to have identified
the correct statute
they need to ring the bell
to collect the next clue.
And that is one hell of a bell.

At Hoa Lu Citadel, teams have got to
find a giant stack of incense
in the village.
Here, they have to make four bundles,
each weighing two kilos,
then deliver them
to Chua Nhat Tru Temple
to receive their next clue.
Sounds pretty straightforward,
but the race is good
at throwing up tricks
here and there. So
