A Million Little Things (2018) s04e05 Episode Script
Crystal Clear
1
EDDIE: I got a call from
the person who hit me.
When my husband's upset, he lashes out.
Previously on "A Million Little Things" It wasn't a guy that I dated after my divorce.
It was a woman.
AUSTIN: You don't pull a film from a festival.
You show it and get the whole town talking.
It just feels like a catch-and-kill.
I'm sorry.
Tomorrow, we get the results back from audience testing.
- Okay.
- I'll be curious to see what the results say about how you are at talking to people instead of talking about them.
I want to own my own place someday, so I never have to work for someone.
It's one of the perks I'll miss.
If Peter's in a coma, then he didn't hear what I said to him on Maggie's podcast.
And now I don't know if he ever will.
GARY: Detective was following me.
How do you know he didn't follow you here? - He's caught up with something else.
- Peter's awake.
- Hello? - PETER: It's Peter.
I know it was you.
Your vitals look great.
Blood work as well.
- How are the headaches? - Um, much better.
- Thank you.
Yeah.
- And your memory? Still a little foggy, but I remember your name Eileen.
That's cheating, but I'll allow it.
Your husband is, uh, quite the charmer.
Mm-hmm.
Um, he can come home today, yes? Absolutely.
As long as he has someone to keep an eye on him.
Yeah.
If you'd like to come with me, I'll go over his list of medications.
- Great.
- Thank you so much.
- So, I just had some questions.
- Uh-huh.
In the morning, he tends to get a little bit GARY: Flower delivery.
[DOOR CLOSES.]
I didn't, uh Didn't think you'd come.
You wanna tell me what I'm doing here? I mean, I think you know.
Or do you not remember putting a bag over my head, dragging me into my music studio, and tying me to a chair? But maybe your friend Christopher could refresh your memory? If your memory is so great, why Why are you talking to me and not the police? No, I have been.
They've asked me all kinds of questions about that night, and I have told them that I don't remember anything.
Doctor says that that can happen sometimes with head trauma.
But sometimes, the memories can come back.
We just have no way of predicting when.
What do you want? Sophie recorded a podcast, accusing me of things Things you did.
I want you to get her to take it down.
It's too late for that.
Hundreds of people have heard it already.
And all of those people will think that she's taking it down because she's not telling the truth.
If you can get her to do that maybe my memory never comes back.
Call the police.
Tell them whatever you want.
I got nothing left to lose.
[DOOR OPENS, CLOSES.]
You think you can get away with that, you got another think coming.
- You ain't gonna punk me.
- [CELLPHONE BEEPS.]
What's going on? I'm just deleting Paragon Plus from all of our devices.
Gonna shelve my movie, you lose my $7.
99 a month.
Okay.
Uh Look at that.
We said we wanted to read more anyway.
- Checkmate.
- Boom.
Wanna call in sick today? 'Cause I know something that we can do that doesn't involve Paragon Plus.
Ooh, I would love to, but I can't do that to Valerie.
We have three birthday parties today, and our manager-in-chief Gerald is very specific about the way we serve cake.
I'm guessing because no one attended his parties as a child.
Uh, it's my dad.
Why did you have to show him how to video chat? He better have his pants on.
I can't unsee what I saw the last time he hit me up.
[CHUCKLES.]
Good luck with that.
I blame you for this.
- Hey, Pop.
- [DOOR CLOSES.]
Can't tell you how good it is to see your face.
- What's up? - I've been thinking about what happened to you with the movie.
You got a raw deal, son.
So I thought you should come to church with me and Dad, how many times do I have to tell you? Church doesn't work for me the way it works for you.
If you would let me finish I'm in a men's group that meets on Wednesdays.
We're supposed to be doing bible study, but mostly, we just sit around and swap war stories.
I thought maybe today, I'd show them your film.
Brag about my son to a few friends.
Oh.
[CHUCKLES.]
Well, I guess it would be nice for somebody to see my film.
What time should I be there? Showtime's at noon.
Oh, and it's BYOB Bring Your Own Bible.
No, don't don't get up! Da It's not JunkTime, Pops.
That is not photogenic.
I swear, Mom is getting way too comfortable having a gay son.
[CHUCKLES.]
You know, this morning, she asked me if her jeans made her butt look cute.
[CHUCKLING.]
She did not! Luckily, I was eating a croissant, so I stuffed the rest of it in my mouth and then pretended I was choking.
[LAUGHS.]
Let's just say, you owe me for all the therapy I'm gonna need someday.
[CHUCKLES.]
Just add it to my tab.
Or you can pay me back now.
Today is Milo's birthday, and I'm staying up late for a video date to celebrate, and my amazing sister is going to personally deliver his birthday gift to him.
Okay, fine.
It'll be like I'm actually there.
[CHUCKLES.]
Well, I wish you were.
I miss you.
I miss you, too.
Hey, I, um I listened to your podcast.
What you said was really brave.
I think it's gonna make a lot of people feel less alone.
Thank you.
[CHUCKLES SOFTLY.]
Now, can I ask you something? Yeah.
Anything.
I need you to be totally honest, alright? Okay.
Okay.
Uh, do these jeans make my butt look cute? [LAUGHS.]
[LAUGHS.]
My eyes! [DIALING.]
[LINE RINGING.]
[CELLPHONE VIBRATING.]
How'd it go? Not good.
He remembers everything.
What does he want? He wanted me to get Sophie to take down her podcast in exchange for his silence.
You're not doing that.
I think we'd both better start looking for a lawyer.
Thanks again for taking Theo to the water park today.
[SPEAKING KOREAN.]
Make sure he has an hour to digest his lunch before he goes on the water slide.
I learned that last time the hard way.
And I'll see you back here for dinner, as long as I can dig out from under these contracts.
[SPEAKING KOREAN.]
Oh? And how is Randy Kwan's mother? I'm surprised Randy's still single.
He's had everyone's mother pushing him on them since junior high.
He's a very successful doctor.
He's not a doctor, he's a dentist.
[SIGHS.]
[SPEAKING KOREAN.]
No, Mom, what I "should" do is what's right for me, and that's not Randy Kwan.
I just don't want you to be alone.
Actually, being alone sounds amazing right now.
[SIGHS.]
[CELLPHONE VIBRATING.]
[SPEAKING KOREAN.]
[VIBRATING STOPS.]
Hey, Darcy.
No, you are calling at the perfect time.
What What's going on? You know, when I asked to see your new place, I wasn't volunteering my services as a human hand truck.
Ah.
You know, I see you more as a whiny roller skate, but your point is taken.
[CHUCKLES.]
Whoa.
When I told you to get a job, I didn't think it'd be dancing at that strip club out by the airport.
Tell Destiny I said wazzaaaa.
I went to see the woman who hit me.
She left that for me before I knew she was gone.
That's an expensive cup of coffee.
$7,500.
To try to take the sting out of never walking again.
Sounds like it didn't work.
Well, if I keep it, I feel like I'm accepting an apology for what she did, and I can't do that.
I get that.
And she told me she was distracted because her husband was drinking that night, and when he drinks, he does bad things.
Yeah, it's almost poetic.
Well, I understand if you decide not to keep the money.
But if you do, I should probably get 10% for helping you move.
Stop by the club this weekend.
Destiny and I will take you to the Champagne Room, hook you right up.
Dude, I live in the Champagne Room.
- [CHUCKLES.]
- [CELLPHONE VIBRATING.]
[VIBRATING STOPS.]
Hey, everything okay? Did you know Gary and Darcy broke up? What? She just called me on her way to Lenox.
She was really upset.
Well, what happened? Apparently, Gary said he couldn't leave his friends.
TRINA: The doctors think we caught it early, but my head's just been spinning ever since I found out, and now they're putting all these treatment plans in front of me, but honestly, I'm really scared.
I haven't even told my family yet.
It's really scary.
I know.
I've I mean, eh, millions of women have been where you are right now.
I would encourage you to find a breast cancer support group.
If you stay on the line, my producer will give you some resources, and I hope you get the support you deserve.
- Thank you, Dr.
Bloom.
- [DOOR OPENS.]
MAN: This has been "In the Room with Dr.
Bloom.
" Heard you're getting your audience testing results today.
- Yeah.
- It was nice knowing you.
If it makes you feel any better, they tested me, too.
They test the traffic and weather? No, my sports show.
The one you never heard of because it went away, because of the testing.
Oh, that does not make me feel better.
Jane's a robot.
All she cares about is numbers.
Honestly, that's a relief, 'cause I'm pretty sure she hates me on a personal level.
She used to be my producer.
She was great at that.
But then she got promoted, and not too long after that, the show was canceled.
She and her executive cronies said they were "trimming the fat.
" Like I said robot.
[TELEPHONE RINGS IN DISTANCE.]
Oh, hello, Jane.
Hi, Nick.
Are you ready to go over your testing? Yeah.
Beep-boop-boop, beep-bop-boop.
Dude.
I thought you had a session today.
You and Darcy broke up? Ugh.
Yeah.
Yeah, I was gonna tell you, man.
Uh, I'm not going to Lenox after all.
Well, what happened? And give me the truth.
Not the same BS excuse Katherine got.
Ed, I-I can't.
Damn it, Gary.
After John died, you were the one who made us promise that we would talk.
So talk.
Whatever it is, we can fix it.
Not this one.
[INDISTINCT CONVERSATIONS.]
Dad? Hey, Pop? Dad.
I thought you said a few friends.
I did.
Word spread.
Things got out of hand.
Haven't seen this many people so excited since Pamela brought in that slice of toast she swore had Jesus' face on it.
You know I-I-I'm not supposed to show it for this many I know, and I don't want you getting sued.
I'm sorry.
I'll tell them we're canceling.
I'm really glad we're seeing this together.
Hey, Pop, you know what? Don't do that.
We're gonna show the movie.
What about Paragon Plus? [SUCKS TEETH.]
Let 'em sue me.
Unbelievable.
[CELLPHONE VIBRATING.]
[VIBRATING STOPS.]
Shanice? I thought you were shooting today.
Eh, I was, but I just got word they're pushing my scenes.
Good thing I just spent two hours in the makeup chair.
What are you up to? Uh, very exciting things.
I'm, uh, reviewing form contracts for a client requesting an easement adjustment.
Okay.
You wanna play hooky and have lunch again? Uh, more than you can imagine.
[LAUGHS.]
Oh, but Theo's Theo's with my mom today.
It's okay.
Kiana's with her dad.
So, it'll just be the two of us.
Sounds fun.
I'll call Gina and pick up something from Crocodilze and bring it over? Sounds great.
It's a date.
I mean, um, I-I'll I'll see you soon.
[CHUCKLING.]
I'll see you soon.
Mm "I listened to Dr.
Bloom on my commute and almost fell asleep at the wheel.
" "It's like getting medical health advice from Charlie Brown's teacher.
" Ugh.
Are they all this bad? No, this one's good.
"Dr.
Bloom's show changed my life.
I'm never listening to talk radio again.
" Alright, I get the sense that you're enjoying this.
I am so sorry I reported you to HR.
This isn't about that.
Your numbers aren't there.
This afternoon segment is going to be your last.
I'm sorry, but I'm not surprised.
You never connected with your audience.
I mean, Dr.
Stacy may have given horrible advice, but at least people felt like they were getting that horrible advice from their mean aunt.
You know, someone they could bond with.
As a therapist, I-I've been trained to maintain a professional distance.
Maybe that approach works in your practice, but it doesn't work on the radio.
I mean, you said it yourself on your first show This isn't real therapy.
You're so right.
[SCOFFS.]
I know it's all about numbers for you, but I can see why you were such a great producer.
Who said it was all about numbers for me? Um uh, no one.
It was Nick, wasn't it? [SIGHS.]
Whoever it was, was probably just hurt and confused and maybe felt like somebody chose a job over them which isn't even bad.
I mean, I have done that, too Save your advice for your last show.
Why didn't you tell me? I wanted to tell you.
[SCOFFS.]
Believe me.
I just didn't want to get you involved.
Okay, wait.
You left before anything happened.
I mean, it was that other guy who put Peter in the hospital, not you.
The whole night wouldn't have happened if it wasn't for me, Ed.
And now Peter's gonna go to the police, and Sophie's gonna see this guy in the news, and and and he'll get to play the victim instead of the bad guy.
Just when she was finally starting to get her life back together.
Hey, it's not great, but if you really want to help her, you need to get ahead of this.
Trust me.
It will be so much better if she hears this from you.
[INDISTINCT CONVERSATIONS.]
What is this? It smells delicious.
Oh, I thought I'd try a Bolognese for a crew meal today.
Don't tell Gerald, but I put in a whole bottle of red.
Ooh! I guess happy hour's gonna be extra happy.
Oh, yes.
[CHUCKLES.]
To go order for Shanice Williamson! Must be weird having the same name as a famous movie star.
- Oh, no - GERALD: Hey, guys.
What's with the ketchup on the side of the plate? Ketchup goes in the middle, in service of both the steak and the fries.
We have to match the picture on the menu.
I'm not sure why that's so hard for you to understand.
Hey, Shanice! Oh, my God! Hi.
Sorry to break into your kitchen, but I was just picking up lunch and asked if I could come pay compliments to the chef.
Oh, my God.
You're Shanice Williamson.
Uh, just since I was born.
I wanted to say hi to my dear friend, Regina.
Who I'm sure you're treating with all the respect she deserves, along with the rest of your employees.
Oh, yeah.
I Of Of course.
Could I get you a complimentary T-shirt from the take-out counter? I would love that Gerald.
Gerald.
Yeah.
Oh.
Wow.
Thank you.
[CHUCKLES.]
I think our lives are gonna get a lot easier around here.
Actually, that's another reason why I came by.
Well, this is my last two minutes, so I just wanted to say that I have loved being here these past few weeks.
Maybe that love wasn't exactly mutual.
At least one of you thinks that I sound like "a cartoon baby turtle, who is both bossy and afraid to come out of her shell.
" Aw, thanks so much for sending that in.
[INHALES DEEPLY.]
The truth is, as a therapist, I am trained to leave my personal life out of the job.
Maybe that was a mistake.
I mean, this show is not therapy.
Trina, if you are still listening, there's something that I wish I had said to you this morning.
I know exactly what you're going through.
I was too afraid to tell my friends about my diagnosis at first, too.
And it wasn't until I joined my support group that I found the courage to tell people.
Not that the group fixed everything.
I mean, I was still going through all of the stages of grief and hope and, you know, everything in between but it gave me a connection to other people who knew what I was going through.
In fact, I even connected with one of the male breast cancer survivors in the church bathroom.
[CHUCKLES.]
Not the point.
Um, the point is, maybe with the people in that group, you, like me, can find exactly what you need.
MAN: 15 seconds, Maggie.
And I'm afraid my time has run out.
So [SIGHS.]
this is Dr.
Maggie Bloom, saying goodbye.
[CLICKS.]
[LAUGHS.]
Okay, how did you know that my favorite dish is chicken Parmesan? I, uh, got some intel from Gina.
It's only fair, since you're my number one fan.
I think the manager at Crocodilze is your number one fan.
Hmm.
Come on.
Look at this.
[LAUGHS.]
Crazy.
Yeah.
I'm just sorry Gina has to work for that guy.
- Uh, yeah.
- Mm.
Although, they make a mean mac and cheese.
Oh, if you think that is good, I have to take you to Aunty Melva's on the east side.
Oh, I heard about that place.
They got five church fans for their peach cobbler.
Church fans? Is that like stars? I've never seen that on Yelp.
It's Black Yelp, baby.
[BOTH LAUGH.]
Okay, how about this weekend? Ugh.
I wish I could.
I found out why they canceled my scenes today.
The production is moving to Miami.
Miami? When? I'm flying out tomorrow.
Oh.
But we can get that peach cobbler the next time I'm in town.
Yeah.
Yeah, great.
Mm.
It's just I'm really sad you're leaving.
You know? Me too.
[DOOR OPENS.]
Uh, M-Mom.
Is, uh Is everything okay? Mm-hmm.
[SPEAKING KOREAN.]
Oh.
Sorry, goggle emergency.
Uh, Shanice, this is my mom, Joo Hee.
It's a pleasure to meet you.
I'll go, uh, get the goggles.
Be right back.
[CHUCKLES.]
[RHYTHMIC KNOCK ON DOOR.]
[DOOR OPENS.]
Oh, hey.
What are you doing here? Hey.
Can we talk? Actually, I gotta get this gift over to Milo for Danny before he turns into a pumpkin.
It's about Peter.
GEORGIA: Christopher? [DOOR OPENS.]
There you are.
What are you doing in here? You remember freshman year, I went to surprise Layla at school? I wanted to take her out to dinner.
Yeah.
When she opened her dorm room door I could tell that she'd been crying.
I didn't push.
I didn't ask.
I didn't do anything.
I have a million of those moments.
Knowing I could've done more.
Georgia I did something.
The other night, I went over to Peter's.
We just went over there to scare him So that he would never hurt anyone again.
But something in me snapped.
It wasn't supposed to go that way.
And I needed you to hear that from me.
I don't know what happens next.
And I won't blame you if you never forgive me.
Just know that everything I did, I did for Layla.
I know.
I know.
I know this is a lot to take in.
- I was just trying to protect you.
- No.
No, what you did had nothing to do with me.
You went there that night because you felt guilty Because you always need to be this hero.
- No, this - Soph, that's not true.
- I - Listen to me! I was dealing with it! I-I found the courage to go to the police and do it the right way.
God, then then and then, when that didn't work out, I was the one who figured out how to tell my story anyway.
I know.
You were so brave.
It was amazing, and he's so scared of that podcast.
You should've seen his face.
What do you mean? You You saw him? Tell me.
When he woke up, he called me.
He asked me to go and see him.
Because he knows.
He knows that it was me and Christopher.
So So, I went.
He wanted me to get you to take the podcast down in exchange for his silence.
Obviously, that's not gonna happen.
I-I can't even believe this.
I mean, all you do is just make my life harder.
The last thing I ever want to do in this world is hurt you.
It's too late for that.
Oh.
I know.
- I'm done.
- [DOOR CLOSES.]
Uh, don't worry.
I'll make sure to leave my ID badge on the desk, even though this is the best picture anyone's taken of me in years.
Actually, can I keep this? Sure.
You're gonna need it on Monday.
Monday? Does that mean I'm coming back? Yeah.
I have a feeling after today, your numbers are gonna go up.
But it is your job to keep them up.
Oh, my gosh.
Thank you.
[LAUGHS.]
I don't know what to say.
How long have you been in remission? Uh, 18 months.
Four years, last March.
And, uh, things got a little messy for me, too.
Before, um, I had this job, I was Nick's producer.
And then I was his, uh, well, something else.
We had a lot of fun.
Actually, we had fun right there on that desk.
[CHUCKLES.]
Mm.
And then I, um, was offered the promotion to station manager, and when I told Nick he wanted to take me to Nantucket to celebrate, but I-I freaked out about h-him seeing me naked.
We'd had office quickies, but he had never seen my scars.
No one had.
And I just I couldn't risk it.
I told him that corporate was making me choose, but I didn't pick this job over Nick.
I lied to him because I was scared.
I'm sorry.
That was probably too much.
No.
It wasn't.
And I get it.
Believe me.
I-I really do.
I thought you would.
About what I told you happened on the desk Please don't report me to Rachel from HR.
Not to be confused with - Rachel Frumaychar.
- Rachel Frumaychar.
[CHUCKLES.]
[DOOR CLOSES.]
[FAUCET RUNNING.]
Thank you.
Can I ask you something? Sure.
Before your mom came in, I kind of felt like we were having a moment.
I don't know what you mean.
Theo showed up at our hotel room the other night to tell Kiana how he felt.
It was a very brave move.
Who does he get that from? Shanice, I was married to a man for 12 years.
And I was married to one for 14.
It doesn't mean you can't have feelings for me.
I just don't want you to limit yourself because you think it's what you "should" do.
But isn't that what you're doing? I mean, you said you haven't told your parents about your private life, and you definitely don't tell the world.
It's different for me.
[SCOFFS LIGHTLY.]
I don't know.
Seems pretty similar.
You're talking about privacy.
I'm talking about feelings.
Maybe I should go.
[BREATHES SHARPLY.]
[FAUCET RUNS, TURNS OFF.]
[BOOT ZIPPING.]
[SIGHS LIGHTLY.]
I'm sorry.
It must be incredibly complicated for you, but it is for me, too.
Ever since you came into my life, I've been so confused.
I've been feeling things I never thought I would before.
[SIGHS.]
Give yourself permission to feel whatever you want.
But I'm scared.
I don't even know h I don't even know how to begin.
I mean, you were there for Never Have I Ever, and I've never even kissed a woman before.
Now you have.
[CHUCKLES.]
Goodbye, Katherine.
[DOOR CREAKS.]
[DOOR CLOSES.]
Oh, Gina, you shoulda seen it.
People stayed for hours.
This one man showed me a scar on his face from marching in Little Rock.
That's amazing.
I wish I could've been there.
This one woman, she's a teacher.
She wants me to show my movie to her students, and, you know, I think that's what I want to do.
I want to just take my film on the road and show it wherever I can.
What about Paragon Plus? Won't they have a problem with that? Well, how would they find out? Hmm? I mean, if I If I keep it to the churches and the schools, I really think I could do this.
Well, I have some news, too.
Shanice dropped by Crocodilze today.
She pulled some strings, got me a catering gig on her set.
Gina, that's incredible! Yeah.
It is.
Except production's moving to Miami.
For like three months, and I'd have to leave really soon.
[HORN HONKS IN DISTANCE, INDISTINCT CONVERSATIONS.]
You have to do this.
You mean that? Really? You get to make the food you want, sip mai tais on the beach.
We don't have to look after Tyrell right now.
This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
If you want my blessing, I've been in church all day, so just consider that done.
[LAUGHS.]
Mm.
We've never even spent more than a few nights apart.
We'll sext.
I've always wanted to try that.
Oh, we've sexted.
Don't you remember you sent me the picture of you vacuuming? - Oh, vacuuming? [SCOFFS.]
- [LAUGHS.]
Wait 'til you see me load the dishwasher in my wide stance.
[CHUCKLES.]
- Oh.
- Oh! Sorry.
I was just trying to get a cup of coffee.
Well, in that case [CLEARS THROAT.]
Welcome to Starbucks.
May I take your order? Oh.
Uh Uh, yeah, I'll have a, - um, oh, decaf - Ew.
- Half-caf? - Better.
Hazelnut coffee with hazelnut creamer.
So, basically, you don't like the taste of coffee or the caffeine that it offers.
- Got it.
- [CHUCKLES.]
No, I love the caffeine.
I need the caffeine.
Just, uh, not this late in the afternoon.
Would you have a scoop of ice cream in your coffee if it was socially acceptable? It is socially acceptable.
It's called an affogato.
Yes, and definitely fact check when people are trying to flirt with you.
Okay.
Okay.
I am gonna need a name for this order.
[CHUCKLES.]
Uh, Maggie.
Okay.
Mm-hmm.
[CHUCKLES.]
And a phone number, please? [CHUCKLES.]
Well, that has to be against company policy.
I'm not really committed to my job.
So, you know Alright, let me write it.
I saw how you wrote "Muggie.
" It's not my penmanship.
I just really think you look more like a Muggie.
[CHUCKLES.]
Okay.
Wait, if I give this to you, I'm not gonna have any coffee.
Yeah, that's right.
Apparently, you hate coffee, so I'm gonna take you out for an ice cream sundae.
- Oh, really? - Yeah.
Mm-hmm.
I'm gonna call you later and set it up.
- [CHUCKLING.]
Okay.
- Okay.
Uh, don't do that "wait four days" thing, either, 'cause I take my ice cream very seriously.
Okay.
See you later, Muggie.
- Mr.
Lamoureux.
- Yeah? Mr.
Lamoureux, I'm such a huge Bruins fan.
- Can I get a photo? - Only if I can be in it.
- Awesome.
- Let's go, buddy.
[INDISTINCT CONVERSATIONS.]
[SHUTTER CLICKS.]
[CONVERSATIONS CONTINUE.]
[ELEVATOR BELL DINGS.]
Sophie, what's going on? Talk to me.
[VOICE BREAKING.]
It's Gary.
What? [SNIFFLES.]
What do you think? Rent's paid for the next six months.
And one more thing The lease is in my name.
So, he won't be able to find us.
You deserve a fresh start.
We both do.
I can't believe you would do this for me.
After everything I've put you through.
Well, I'm not just doing it for you.
I can't keep holding on to my anger.
I need to let it go.
So that's what I'm doing.
Where will you live? I'm gonna stay where I am for now.
I have a friend who needs me.
[SMOOCHES.]
[CRYING.]
Thank you.
[POUNDING ON DOOR.]
[SIGHS.]
[SIGHS.]
What are you doing here, Bloom? Sophie told me what you did.
[SIGHS.]
[SIGHS.]
How's she doing? Not great.
Well, if you're here to lecture me, don't bother, because I'm actually pretty good at that myself.
I'm here to see if you're okay.
Darcy broke up with me.
Gary, I'm so sorry.
She was right, after what I did.
It was never supposed to go that far.
- I know.
- I didn't hurt him.
- I swear.
- I know.
I know you.
You're not capable of that.
But I do think it would be good for you to talk to someone.
You know, someone who could help you understand why you did this.
Well, I'll have plenty of time.
Peter's going to the cops and I'm going to jail.
[SIGHS.]
Maybe not.
Sophie asked me to take her podcast down.
What? Yeah, she said Peter offered you some kind of deal? No.
No.
I did not want her to do that.
It's not up to you.
Gary, please don't go over there.
I'm sorry.
I gotta go.
- [DOOR CLOSES.]
- [SIGHS.]
Hey.
- Did you talk to Rome? - I did.
- He's totally on board.
- [GASPS.]
- So, you're going to Miami? - Mm-hmm.
That's amazing.
When do you leave? Tomorrow morning.
I'm about to quit.
But I want to quit for two.
Come with me.
Regina [SCOFFS.]
it's not that easy for me.
I have a record.
I-I have to be more careful.
Okay, but just think about it.
This is a good move.
We make a great team.
We'd be our own bosses.
I remember you saying how you wanted that so badly.
You'd get your foot in the door with an A-list producer.
After that, there'd be so many other opportunities.
We could put the ketchup wherever we want? And the mustard, and the mayonnaise, and we might even get crazy with the cinnamon.
[BOTH LAUGH.]
Wait, wait, why are you putting your chef's jacket back on? 'Cause I want to do that thing where you take it off dramatically when you quit.
Yes.
I want to do that, too.
[LAPTOP KEYS CLACKING.]
- - [LAPTOP CHIMES.]
[MOUSE CLICKING.]
Okay, Tyrell, we miss you.
TYRELL: Miss you, too.
Good luck in Miami.
Gina, you're gonna crush it.
Thanks.
[CHUCKLES.]
Give your mom our best.
And let her know she's got family over here if she needs anything.
Alright? We love you.
Bye.
- Bye.
- Bye.
[CELLPHONE BEEPS.]
Okay.
There's no time to get sad.
Tyrell's gonna be back in a couple of months, and you've got to finish packing.
I don't know.
This is all happening so fast.
Is it happening too fast? You have to do this.
Yeah, you're right.
You're right.
Let's see.
I've packed clothes, toiletries, my chef's knives, something to read on the plane - I can't go.
- Gina.
Not until we say a proper goodbye.
May I see you on the bed, please? Oh, so sexting won't start until tomorrow? Mm-hmm.
- I'm not mad at that.
- Mm-hmm.
Mm.
Honey? I thought I'd order us some dinner and try to make up for all that bland hospital food.
What's going on? That's what I should've been asking you.
[CHUCKLING.]
What? [SIGHS.]
What happened with Sophie Dixon? Uh, what What are you talking about? I listened to her podcast.
She said that you did things to her.
Right here.
None of the stuff that she said is true.
In fact, someone called me and and she took it down.
Because she's lying.
When you were still in a coma, I unlocked your phone.
Do you know what I found? Nothing.
[VOICE BREAKING.]
No pictures, no texts.
No trace of your entire life outside of us.
Which is exactly what someone would do if they had something to hide.
[VOICE BREAKING.]
Anna, I love you.
We're done.
And I'm gonna make sure that you never teach again.
Anna Thanks so much, Soph.
Your timing was perfect.
[CHUCKLES.]
I'm so glad I could help.
He looked crazy cute in the beret.
Yeah, he did.
- Are you okay? - [DOOR OPENS.]
You sound weird.
[DOOR CLOSES.]
I'm fine.
Just go get some sleep.
Okay.
Good night.
I love you.
Love you, too.
Maggie told me you were coming.
I did not want you to take the podcast down.
You didn't have to do that for me.
Yeah, well, I didn't do it for you.
I did it for Layla's mom.
She's already lost her daughter.
She doesn't need to lose her husband, too.
And if I hadn't gone over there and asked for her diary, I mean, they wouldn't be in this mess to begin with.
It's not your fault.
It's my fault.
You're right.
It is.
Soph If you really want what's best for me, you'll stay away.
For good.
For good.
