The Jungle Rooster

1 - [Mort chuckles.]
- [growls.]
- [Mort.]
I'm okay! - [laughs.]
[theme song playing.]
Party - # Who's the king? # - # King Julien! # - # Who's the king? # - # King Julien! # Get down for the get down - # Everybody party with King who? # - # King Julien! # - # King who? # - # King Julien! # Tonight will be forever Let's do King Julien style Woof! Whoa, oh, whoa, oh Y'all tell me who's the king Whoa, oh, whoa, oh All hail King Julien! [yawns.]
[blows.]
Oh, little bunny rabbit.
- [rooster crowing.]
- Hmm? - [snoring.]
- [rooster crowing.]
Huh? Huh? [rooster crowing.]
Whoever's making all that noise, stop it now! Beauty rest in progress here! [sighs.]
- [rooster crowing.]
- [Julien groans.]
[Julien.]
Maurice! - There's something out there.
- [rooster crowing.]
Maurice, what is that and why won't it stop? It's a jungle rooster, Your Majesty.
[laughs.]
- A jungle whatster? - A jungle rooster.
And that sound it's making, that's its mating call.
Are you sure? Shouldn't a mating call be pleasing to the earholes? Something smooth and seductive like this.
Oh Oh! [Mort exclaiming.]
[Mort grunts.]
No, it's definitely a mating call, King Julien.
I'd know that noise anywhere.
So the only reason this jungle rooster is making noise is because it's lonely and looking for love? Oh, aren't we all? [laughs.]
Okay, peoples.
Listen up.
We need a mate for this crazy loud rooster thingy.
Where are all my single roosters at? - [clamoring.]
- What did he just call me? Uh, Your Majesty, there are no roosters in the kingdom.
Well then who are we going to get to mate with the jungle rooster? Oh! Hmm.
Squawk, squawk, squawk, squawk, squawk.
- So lonely, squawk.
- Oh, he's doing it all wrong.
No, no, no! - Flap harder, Mort.
- [grunting.]
You really need to let that rooster know you're interested.
Uh-huh? [grunting.]
Yeesh! Who'd want to put a ring on that? No sign of the jungle rooster, Your Majesty.
Why isn't it working? Because, Ted, the key to finding a mate isn't in the arms, it's in the booty.
- Oh! - Uh You gotta shake it, Mort.
Shake that booty! [vocalizing.]
Okay! Squawk! - [rock music playing.]
- [vocalizing.]
- Hello! - [crowing.]
[exclaims.]
That is one ugly bird.
Now, now, Maurice, could just be bad lighting.
Don't jump to Oh! [crowing.]
Not even a mother could love that face.
Wait, is that the face? Ooh, you like what you see? Ooh.
- [clucking.]
- You like me? I would like me.
Oh, hello, there.
[giggling.]
- [crowing.]
- On it! That's it, up you go, nice and easy.
No sudden movements.
- [crowing.]
- [grunting.]
Stay.
Don't even think about it.
Uh, greetings, Mr.
[crows.]
- Miss? - [crows.]
Okay.
Yeah.
I feel you.
I don't like labels either.
[rooster crows.]
Here, you may take Mort as your mate.
In exchange, all I ask is that you please stop making that noise.
[crowing.]
Fine! You don't want Mort.
Totally understandable, totally.
But you have to stop squawking! Tell me what you want.
Please.
[crowing.]
Ted! Help me out here! I can't understand anything he/she is saying! Well, that's because chickens speak their own bird language, Your Majesty.
I'm fluent in squirrel and truffle pig, but unfortunately the nuanced clucks and chirps of bird always vex me.
[groans.]
Does anyone here speak bird? - Mm-mm.
- [blows raspberries.]
- Mm-mm.
- Mm-mm.
[growls.]
- [bell rings.]
- Hmm! [clucking.]
So, what's it saying? I don't know.
I'm a toucan.
This is a chicken.
Not all birds are the same, you know.
Oh, please, I've had royal sensitivity training.
Wait, wait, what is this fun-sized trash goblin doing here? Okay, well now, King Julien, I think that might have hurt Mort's feelings.
No, it didn't.
What could you call Mort that wouldn't be demeaning or hurtful? - A worm-riddled peach pit? - I'm okay with that.
Mm.
- Second-hand donkey puppet? - I'm okay with that.
I told you this wouldn't work.
- Uh! - Ooh! Xixi, where are you [groans.]
Fine.
Masikura! Masikura! You yelled? Yes.
Read this rooster's brainy bits and figure out what's going on.
You want me to put my tongue on that? [clucks and gulps.]
Do it now, Masikura.
[groans.]
[exclaiming.]
[retching.]
Hmm.
- I'm not getting anything.
- Why not? Its brain is very small.
- [clucks.]
- Try again! [exclaiming.]
[retches.]
[coughs.]
All I could make out is that this rooster is on the run from someone called "The Chicken Hunter.
" - Who's that? - The Chicken Hunter? Never heard of him.
- My reputation precedes me.
- [clucks.]
[clucks.]
Oh, great, now Karl is here.
I'm never gonna get any sleep.
Hold up, you're "The Chicken Hunter?" [rooster shrieks.]
Yes, Julien.
Since when? I thought your name was Karl.
I go by many names, gotta keep you on your toes.
Don't even look at his toes.
I've been sent by Mary Ann to bring back her runaway rooster.
Her rooster? Yes, that rooster is Mary Ann's property and thus she wants him returned.
That's where I come in.
No chicken can escape me.
I'm the Chicken Hunter.
- [rooster shrieks.]
- [thriller music playing.]
[Julien laughs.]
Let me get this straight.
You're working for the foosa now? Quick, take a picture, Maurice.
So I can remember what a sellout looks like.
Mock me if you like, Julien, being [imitating Karl.]
Being your nemesis isn't cheap.
So I have to pick up work here and there to fund my ingenious schemes.
[sighs.]
Have you tried turning it off and then turning it back on? - Hi! Yeah.
- I'll wait.
Just unplug it! - The power of Frank compels you! - [growling.]
From what I can see, someone's been murdered.
- [rock music playing.]
- [Mort exclaims.]
Someone's been murdered.
Ooh! I'm not ashamed.
I enjoy the work.
Now, hand over the bird! Mm.
No! [Karl laughs.]
Julien, Julien, Julien, how very noble, but I urge you to reconsider for your own good.
Think about it.
When's the last time the foosa attacked your kingdom? Uh The Come to think of it, it has been a while.
Goin' on forty-six days now.
Yeah.
- So? - So - So? - So - So? - So - So? - So - So? - What do you think the foosa have been eating all that time? I don't know, canned goods, bugs maybe.
Cannibalism? Wrong.
Chickens.
[shrieks and clucks.]
Mm? [laughs.]
First of all, that's a rooster, not a chicken.
And second, what was number one again? Let me spell it out for you, the reason the foosa have been leaving you alone is because they have been farming chickens, as a new, unlimited food source.
Oh.
Gotta hand it to Mary Ann.
That's pretty smart.
Yes.
And if you want to keep the foosa away and keep your people safe, you'll hand over that rooster right now.
- Wha - [clucks.]
Uh Uh [shrieking.]
[sighs.]
Sorry, buddy.
[clucks.]
Gotta do it for my kingdom.
You understand, right? I knew you'd see reason.
[clucking.]
Pleasure doing business with you, Julien.
Till next time.
[clucks.]
[whimpers.]
I know what you're going to say, Maurice, that I made the wrong decision.
I shouldn't have sent that rooster back to the foosa to be eaten.
Actually, I can't believe I'm saying this, but I think you made the right decision, Your Majesty.
Well, I don't care what Wait, what? You say what? Either the foosa eat chickens or the foosa eat us.
By sending that rooster back, you saved a lot of lemur lives.
- You made a tough call, but I support it.
- You do? Mm-hmm.
But, if you think I made the right decision, why don't I feel better about it? Because decisions like these are hard.
But, as king, it's your job to make them.
I like it better when I just had to decide whether or not to build another trampoline.
The answer to that question is always Tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, ting! Yes! I'm sure you'll feel better in the morning.
Why don't you go bed? At least now you should be able to get some sleep.
[Julien snoring.]
[whimpering.]
[both laughing.]
Huh? J'accuse! J'accuse! J'accuse! [gasps.]
Huh? [humming.]
There you are, Maurice.
King Julien, are you all right? You look terrible.
[grunts.]
I haven't slept, Maurice.
I've been plagued by horrible nightmares.
I just can't shake the feeling that sending that jungle rooster back was wrong, which is why I have changed my mind! Changed your mind? Uh-huh, I've decided that I want to do the wrong thing, which I actually think is the right thing.
It's all very confusing.
But the point is, we have to get the jungle rooster back! But, it's too dangerous.
The foosa [exclaiming.]
Did someone say dangerous? 'Cause I haven't done anything dangerous in a really long while and I need a danger fix.
Like, really bad! I'm coming too! You know, just 'cause.
[spy music playing.]
- Hmm? - Huh? [chickens clucking.]
[growling.]
[sniffs.]
Look at all those chickens, Maurice.
Yeah, it's worse than I thought.
I don't know.
Looks kinda homey to me.
- [groans.]
- Oh, are those panko crumbs they're using? [gasps.]
There's Karl and Mary Ann.
Thank you for finding and returning my rooster so quickly.
That's why they call me the Chicken Hunter.
[rooster crowing.]
Oh, you.
- [shrieks.]
- [both laughing.]
Hmm.
I have to admit, I was a little leery of working with you, Karl, but it turns out we make a pretty good team.
What would you say to making our working relationship more permanent? - Permanent? - Official.
[purrs.]
Uh Think about it, if we combined forces, we would be unstoppable.
Together, we could rule all of Madagascar.
[shrieking.]
I'm sorry, Your Majesty, there's nothing we can do for the rooster now.
Maurice is right, Your Majesty, we can't be here.
I need to take you back to the kingdom, where it's safe.
Mm? - [whimpering.]
- Hmm.
Mm-hmm.
I thought a little snack might cheer you up, Your Majesty.
King Julien? King Julien? Wakey, wakey.
Where'd he go? Let my roosters go! [grunts.]
[grunts and laughs.]
Uh, hey, buddy.
Good to see you again.
How've you been? [clucks.]
Lock them up, Chauncey.
Mary Ann will be so pleased when I tell her tonight's fried chicken dinner will be served with a King Julien dipping sauce.
[laughing maniacally.]
Ah, they named a sauce after me.
That's really Oh! I know you think I don't have a plan here, but you just wait.
[giggles.]
I'll get us out of here.
You'll see.
[clucks.]
[squeaking.]
Watch and learn, Jungle Rooster.
Watch and learn.
Oh, hey, Chaunce.
Surprised to see you here, you know, since Karl and Mary Ann are an item now.
They do make a cute couple though, don't you think? [squeaking.]
Whoa, whoa, whoa.
Relax, guy.
I'm sure Mary Ann isn't planning on getting rid of you.
Who wouldn't want a tiny bug as a third wheel always hanging around and getting in the way? I mean, really, what would Karl and Mary Ann even do without you? - [romantic song playing.]
- [exclaims.]
[grunts.]
[lemurs screaming.]
I love you, Mary Ann.
But, don't you miss Chauncey? Chauncey who? [both laugh.]
[Karl.]
I'm so happy! [whimpers.]
You know, on second thought, Mary Ann doesn't strike me as a sharer.
If I were you, I'd get rid of her before she gets rid of you.
Just my two cents, you know, take it or leave it.
[squeaks.]
[all snoring.]
- [crash.]
- Who's there? - [wind blowing.]
- [Mary Ann grunting.]
[growling.]
[squeaks.]
[grunts.]
[Julien humming.]
[clucks.]
What, you thought I couldn't pick this lock? Please, too easy.
Follow me.
[both scream.]
This is it.
King Julien.
[screams.]
You ate Maurice, too! My best friend! - [groans.]
- [sobs.]
No! No! [sobbing.]
No, King Julien.
It's me.
I haven't been eaten.
We're disguised as a foosa.
Oh.
Wait, who's we? Hi, King Julien.
This is great, isn't it? [giggles.]
Hi! [Xixi.]
Xixi here, reporting live from inside a foosa costume.
[chuckles.]
We came to save you, King Julien.
We can talk about the fact that you left without telling anyone where you're going later.
You got the jungle rooster back, like you wanted, so now it's time to get you outta here.
[rooster whimpering.]
[melancholic music playing.]
[clucking.]
No.
I can't leave.
- What? - What? Say what? I'm hungry.
Don't you understand? Being a great king isn't about doing the right thing or the wrong thing.
It's about doing the great thing.
We have to save all the roosters! [clucks.]
I'm with you, Your Majesty.
Me, too.
Me, three.
[munching.]
- Mm.
- Yeah, Mort's in too.
Just one thing, how in the world are we gonna free all these chickens right out from under the foosa's' noses? Don't worry, Maurice.
Operation Love Triangle is already in motion.
Karl! Mary Ann, darling.
Whatever is the matter? Don't play dumb and don't call me darling! You think you can send your little cockroach friend to take me out so that you can take over my kingdom? I should have known better than to trust you! I don't know what you're talking about, but I'm sure there's a logical explanation for all of this.
- Let me go and find Chauncey - You're not going anywhere.
[whistles.]
[all growling.]
[grunts.]
[all growling.]
[spy music playing.]
[grunts.]
Hi, Maurice! [groans.]
Oh, right, right.
I remember.
Okay, first chicken, go.
Chauncey.
Come here this minute and tell me what's going on.
I'll tell you what's going on.
I'm going to kill you and your little friend.
Now, just one minute.
Chauncey, what did you do? [squeaks.]
What do you mean "he" told you? He who? - [squeaks.]
- [gasps.]
I should have known.
Well played, Julien.
Uh.
He can't see me.
He can't see me.
Oh, I see you.
Mary Ann, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but all of your chickens are getting away.
[growls.]
[roars.]
[clucking.]
Maurice, is that an egg? I don't even know you.
Get them! - [growling.]
- [clucking.]
King Julien, what do we do now? Hey, Clover.
Now would be a good time to do your angry fighting thing.
- Over here! - [Julien.]
What are you doing? [grunts.]
I don't mean to micromanage, but I think it would be better if you kicked the foosa, Clover! - [all gasp.]
- Popcorn! Not so fast, Karl! [all growling.]
Chauncey, where are you going? Don't leave me here.
What are you all waiting for? Attack! Popcorn.
Get the chickens to safety, Your Majesty.
I'll keep the foosa busy.
This way, guys.
Follow me.
[all clucking.]
You're going the wrong way! [laughing.]
[Clover.]
Take that! Come here, you! [exclaiming.]
Yeah, you! [growls.]
[laughs.]
- Oh, that was a really good one.
- [Maurice.]
Clover! [Maurice.]
We're coming, Clover! [Xixi.]
Wait for me! [Maurice and Xixi grunting.]
Huh? [growls.]
- [all grunting.]
- Oh, yeah! [Xixi.]
Get her out! Get her out! Come on.
Up the ladder [groans.]
On second thought, just fly.
Fly to freedom! Go, chickens, go! [exclaiming.]
[grunts.]
You can't fly, can you? [mumbles.]
What kind of birds are you? Seriously, you guys can't talk.
You can't fly.
You're the worst birds ever.
I mean, ever! [exhales.]
You leave me no choice.
[exclaiming.]
[Julien.]
Shanked it.
[all clucking.]
Ah! Mort, help me! Okay! Bye bye.
Everybody out! Say goodbye, thank you for coming.
Goodbye! Bye bye.
Bye bye.
[grunts.]
Chauncey? What are you doing? [squeaks.]
Oh, Chauncey, you daft insect.
I never would have chosen her over you.
No one could ever take your place.
[squeaking.]
[growls.]
[Maurice grunts.]
[growls.]
No! [grunts.]
Anybody else? You! You did this! Uh, anybody? A little help down here! [whimpers.]
[growling.]
[screams.]
[growling.]
[screaming.]
- [growls.]
- [screams.]
- [clucks.]
- [grunts.]
[clucks.]
Wait, where's Clover? Did she make it? There she is! [upbeat music playing.]
[all whimpering.]
These chickens are officially free range.
[explosion.]
[all cheering.]
[romantic music playing.]
[kissing.]
[growls.]
I'll get you for this, King Julien! - [chickens clucking.]
- [groans.]
[sneezes.]
[grunts.]
Doesn't it feel good to do the great thing, Your Majesty? Shut up, Maurice.
[grunts.]
All right.
I get it, you lay eggs.
[chuckles.]
[grunts.]
Mm? [romantic song playing.]
