At this point, we were not expecting
an individual buyer to step to the plate
for these concept vehicles.
[Mark] Allow me.
[Shawn] And we honestly
don't know much about this guy Nick.
All we really know is that he's a broker
representing a really wealthy buyer.
So, obviously, he knows his stuff.
But we definitely
wanna get a deal done today.
Because if we don't,
we'll most likely bring these
to a live auction in the next few months.
And at that point, all bets are off.
Sounds like it's time for you to pull up
them little bootstraps and go to work.
Had a feeling you were gonna say that.

I have a company called classicavenue.com.
I buy and sell cars and motorcycles
for, uh, discerning clients.
One of my clients, Robert,
he has a substantial collection,
uh, a very private collection.
He, uh, saw the photos
of the concept vehicles
and wanted me to come down
and see if we can crack a deal.
Let's start with the car.
What can you tell me?
So, basically, we started
with a C4 Corvette.
It's a ZR1, so it's got
the big four-cam, 32-valve motor.
-[Nick] Great.
-[Mark] Gave it big wheels.
And then Tony actually
cut the centers out of brass.
Wow. And the design?
Yeah, the overall design is something
that I designed myself personally,
from styling cues
of the past and the present.
Right, I can see it.
We've got a little Mosler at the rear end.
McLaren F1.
A little Spyker in the roof vent.
Um, it's a cornucopia of super cars.
It's great.
Um, and so the interior?
My interior guy
hand-stitched the whole dash.
Oh! Oh, my word.
-The Koenigsegg door style.
-[Mark] Yes.
-Did you build those?
-Yes, we did.
Tony water-jet all the pieces.
We welded it up here in-house
and installed it on the car.
-Nick, why don't you get inside there?
-Thank you very much.
There's a surprising amount of room.
It's a pretty big interior
for what looks tiny on the outside.
-Do you mind if I start it up?
-Go ahead.
[engine rumbles]
Oh, wow.
It's still got that American muscle sound,
but it's a little higher pitch.
[turns off engine]
It's got It's got the feel
of a handcrafted super car.
It's a beautifully designed car.
[Shawn] Nick seems to really appreciate
the work and craftsmanship
that went into these vehicles.
But we wanna get at least 250 grand
and ideally even more than that.
So I'm gonna hit him hard
and see where he stands
and then go from there.
But you know what?
When it comes down to the bottom dollar,
it's Robert's decision.
And you know, Nick and Robert,
they've already talked about
how much he's willing to pay.
[revving engine]
[Nick] Sounds nice.
It really comes down to,
can Nick sell Robert
on the price that we want?
You know we already
passed down an offer of 225,000.
We're selling this as a pairing.
And we're asking 315 for the pair.
[Nick inhales]
Yeah, he he won't go for that.
Um
[clears throat]

[Shawn] 240?
Well, that's not much better
than the 225, obviously.
Look at what you're getting.
These are Gotham Garage creations.

If your client
was to buy these at an auction,
not only would he have to fight
the other potential buyers,
but also, he'd have to pay
a premium on the money.
He would, but you'd have to prep it,
transport it, and pay a commission.
That's why we're coming off our 315,
and we're willing to go 300 for the pair.
Now, that's the pair.

[Nick inhales]

You know, how about

for both custom one-off vehicles
from Gotham Garage.

This is a ginormous accomplishment
because selling these vehicles
will unlock a whole new brand
of clients for this shop.
We get to turn the page
in the chapter of Gotham Garage
and start with
another chapter of Gotham Garage.
The master plan
with these concept vehicles
was to attract high-end clients
who are willing to pay for my vision
and be hands-off creatively.
[off-screen] Might take a bit
for the buzz of this sale to happen,
but it's coming, trust me.
Now, it's time to make that plan a reality
so Gotham Garage can finally
take that giant step forward.
Oh, that's about one
of the best beers I ever had.

telling everybody these vehicles sold
and what they sold for.

Now, you gotta keep your ear to the ground

wealthy clients that are gonna roll in.

You must have something very important
on your mind. What do you got, buddy?

we were looking for our next project.
-I might have a pretty good build for us.
-Really?
Considering we just sold the concept car,
it might be the right time to do this.
-What do you got?
-You know my brother Patches?
-Of course we know Patches.
-Patches, yeah.
Well, Patches just bought
a Polaris Slingshot
and he wants to give it
a Gotham Garage makeover.
Patches is my best friend.
We're so close
I literally call him my brother.
I thought Patches
was more of a Harley guy.
Long story, he is.
[chuckles] Me and Patches,
we've been riding bikes together
for as long as I can remember.
He's also a 20-year-plus combat Marine.
Unfortunately, he suffers
from PTSD in a bad way.
So he ended up
gettin' a service dog, Gloria,
and she's the best thing
that's ever happened to him.
But it makes it hard
for him to go on motorcycle rides.
She doesn't fit on the motorcycle safely.
So recently,
he purchased a Polaris Slingshot.
Because now she can
always be with him and she'll be safe.
But here's the problem.
Us Harley guys, we think these Slingshots
are some of the butt-ugliest
vehicles on the road.
And Patches is kind of embarrassed
to take it on motorcycle rides with us.
So he was hoping we could take our skills
and make this thing look like a hot rod.
What kind of money
has Patches got to spend?
Well, you know, he's he's not loaded.
He's got right about
15 grand he can spend.
I was thinking,
since we just sold the concept vehicles,
I figured we could do him a little favor.
I think it's pretty cool.
I'd like to help Patches out.
I mean, I'm game.
I'm down for doing
anything different and weird.
This Slingshot build for Patches
is actually the perfect build
for us right now.
Not only is it super creative,
but, to me, this is a rare chance
to make a real difference
in somebody's life.
Fifteen grand. That is awful tight.
Don't forget we got that Baja Bug, dude.
We're not that deep into that car,
except for what your mom jammed me for.
[Caveman laughs]
Caveman and I gave that thing
some killer off-road suspension.
That thing's almost done, dude.
So if you could
sell that car for like 25 grand
and we do Patches's bike for 15,
they kind of offset each other to where
it ends up being a good deal all around.
That is a good point.
That kinda makes sense.
I tell you what,
let's get this Baja Bug done.
Then if Shawn can sell it for at least 25,
then we'll do Patches's Slingshot for 15.
-Oh, hell yeah.
-That sounds like a great deal.
So you need to stand behind him
with a club and make sure that happens.
Sounds great to me. Get it done.

[Mark] A little while ago,
we bought this Volkswagen Beetle
off of Shawn's mom, Carol,
so we could flip it for a solid payday.
We put a modern twist
on a vintage Baja Bug
by lifting it over a foot and giving it
a rugged off-road suspension.
Roads? We don't need roads.
[Mark] Now I wanna give it a vibrant color
that matches the old Bugs
from the '60s and '70s.
So we'll have
an off-road badass underneath
and that eclectic Bug on the outside.
[dance music building]
I don't think Shawn's mom
is gonna recognize her Beetle.
-[chuckles]
-[Caveman] Right.
When I bought this Bug off of Shawn's mom,
we added one simple kicker to the deal.
[drill whirring]
We're gonna let Shawn's Mom take it
for one last ride when it's finished.
If there was any chance
that this fuchsia-colored Baja Bug
was gonna slip by unnoticed
-[laughs] It ain't now.
-It ain't now. That's it.
-[Mark] And let me tell you this
-[whirring]
Shawn's mom is about
to take the ride of her life.
[intense music plays, fades]
[mellow bluegrass music playing]
[Carol giggles]
[Shawn] My mom definitely
put the screws to Mark
when he bought this car off of her.
[Carol] Oh, a handsome fella.
[Shawn off-screen] What can I say?
It runs in the family.
But I gotta admit,
it was well worth the extra cash.
-[engine revs]
-[Carol] Whoo-hoo!
[exciting heavy metal music playing]
-[Shawn] Hang on, Mom.
-[Carol] Whoo!
[Carol laughs]
[Shawn] This thing
is a little off-road monster.
The suspension,
the wheels and tires, the roll bar.
I mean, this tiny Beetle
can take a pounding,
and with this paint job,
it's still got
that kitschy old-school Bug flavor.
[Carol] Whoo! Whoo!
Go, Shawn. Go, Shawny boy.
[Shawn] But if we want
to do that Slingshot
for Caveman's buddy Patches,
I need to take a page
out of my mom's book,
and try to cut a killer deal
for this newly revamped Baja Bug.
[Carol] Whoo!
[Shawn] Mom, you're a natural.
[laughs]
[slow dramatic music playing]
-[Shawn] I think our buyer will like this.
-[Mark] Yeah?
She does do a little off-roading,
so she's definitely
gonna make use of this.
Caveman's counting on you,
so hopefully you can get 25 grand.
Oh, I'm sure we can.
[off-screen] Since we've built
off-road vehicles in the past,
I got a pretty solid list
of buyers in my rolodex.
So tracking down someone
for Mark's crazy Baja Bug
was actually quite simple.
Here comes a big white truck.
That might be her.
[Shawn] I think Shelby
is perfect for this car.
She actually races off-road vehicles.
And I was very up-front with her
about the price of this Bug.
She knows that we're set
on getting 25 grand.
How's it look? Is it good?
It's as good as it's gonna get
in the next 5 feet.
What's goin' on, guys?
[Shawn] So this all comes down to how much
Shelby falls in love with this car.
If we can absolutely knock her socks off,
then she'd be willing
to hit that 25 grand mark.
Check this thing out.

-I'll tell you what we've done to this.
-For sure.
Obviously, we lifted it.
We put these off-road bumpers on it.
We gave it the old-school Baja Bug lights.
-We put 31's on it, front and back.
-[Shelby] Mm-hmm.
And then in the back
we put these Fox shocks on it.
They're fully adjustable coil-overs.
Gave you the vintage
stinger look out the back.
We gave it nerf bars in the back,
and some custom taillights
with some VW emblems.
So, what do you think of that?
Well, it's a It's a great car.
[tense music playing]
We made it look
kind of like you wanted it.
Yes, you did.
[Shawn] So why don't you get in there

[Shelby] Check this thing out.

We did a lot of things to it.

than we thought we were gonna.

so I've been wanting to treat myself.

which'll give us a nice buffer
to knock out this Slingshot build

that Baja Bug for 25 grand or not,
we were gonna do
that Slingshot for Patches?
I was just trying
to light a fire underneath your ass.

I don't know what the hell
he was thinking when he got this thing.
He was hoping you'd be
in the passenger seat riding with him
-all over God's creation.

You see, I covered Rosie up when I left,
so she wouldn't see me pull in with it.
-[Tony laughs]
-I didn't want her to get upset with me.
[all laughing]
Quarter-inch drive,
daintily take it apart.
Daintily.
[intense rock music playing]
[Caveman] Even though Gloria
can ride with Patches now,
for a Harley guy,
this thing looks pretty ridiculous.
All these modern plastic
crappy body panels on this thing
make this thing look like
a snowmobile on wheels.
Fortunately, we're gonna change all that.
So we're gonna start by ripping off
all these nasty plastic panels.
Then we're gonna replace that plastic
with American muscle.
We're gonna add
a bunch of metal from a '69 Camaro,
front-end grille, fenders,
all this pretty stuff
that'll transform this into a hot rod.
We'll give it a huge tire at the back,
and then Mark will paint it
with a badass muscle car paint job.
It's looking better already.
Of course, that's not saying much.
[all chuckling]
[Caveman] As cool as our plan is,
you gotta remember,
no one's ever turned
a Slingshot into a hot rod like this.
As much as I can picture this in my head,
you never know
what Patches is gonna think.
And I really hope he likes it.
[Mark] Well, now that we
got this all torn down,
let's get it over to Gotham in the morning
and then we'll start fabricating on it.

Believe it or not,
I've been busting my ass
telling everybody
about the concept vehicles.
Please.
[Shawn] Coming off
the concept vehicles sale,
I know Mark's chomping at the bit
for a high-paying client
that'll let him go crazy creatively.
But, as much as
I've been spreading the word,
I still haven't found that super
high-end client Mark's looking for.
But I think I may have
found the next best thing.
I just got off a call
that could end up being
a game-changer for this shop.
So, look, I'm still working on
reeling in that big client for you.
-But I do have some interesting news.
-Give it to me.
I got a call from Speedway Motors.
They heard about the concept vehicles
and saw some pictures,
and they were so impressed
with what they saw
they want to commission Gotham Garage
to build them a branded car.
Speedway Motors is one of the biggest
names in the automotive world.
They're a worldwide retailer
of automotive parts.
We've probably got ten or 15
Speedway Motors catalogs
laying around in the shop right now.
On occasion, they'll partner up
with shops like ours
to build a branded car
that showcases
tons of Speedway Motors parts.
And they'll use it for publicity
and bring it to big events.
The exposure
on a build like this is insane.
I guess they want a super unique ride
that incorporates all their parts.
Pretty cool, right?
Well, it's flattering, for sure,
but what kind of money
are they talking about?
So here's the thing.
On a branded deal like this,
they basically pay for our labor.
That's about it.
So what you're saying
is it's a work-for-hire job?
If you want to look at it that way.
But it's more than that.
We'd be building a car
for one of the biggest names
in the automotive world,
and they're coming to us
for our creativity.
It's not the biggest money-maker for us,
but the upside
of the exposure outweighs that.
I I thought you'd be loving this.
I see what you're saying about exposure
and getting the name out there.
But we've already done that.
We did it with the Petersen.
I personally think
we're beyond that, past that.
That's That was yesterday.
We're in today.
[Shawn] I know Mark thinks
that selling those concept vehicles
should immediately give us
the best of both worlds,
creative freedom plus big paydays.
But the bottom line is this,
one big sale isn't gonna magically
change everything overnight.
It takes time,
and reeling in those big clients,
that's obviously easier said than done.
This is just one more component
to get us to those super big deals.
All right, look, I'm not opposed to this,
but I'd like to hear more from them,
so if we could get them on the phone
and have a discussion
I think that's a great idea.
So, why don't you talk to them again,
set up a call, and we'll go from there.

The one request
Patches gave Caveman on this Slingshot
was he wanted it to have a hot rod feel.
And nothing screams hot rod
like a 1969 Camaro.
[Tony] Kind of sunk
like that a little bit?
There we go.
We're gonna take all of these
Camaro body panels and modify them,
so they all fit on top of this Slingshot.
I think the warranty was still good
-until you made that cut.
-[chuckles]
[Mark] It's gonna transform
this thing like crazy,
and it's gonna make this thing
one of the most custom
Slingshots rolling down the highway.
-[Tony] All right, so I can chop this up?
-[Mark] Please do.
Well, you know, it's not every day
we get to take brand-new fenders,
hoods, right out of the box
and just slice right into them.
-[Caveman] Whoo!
-[Constance laughs]

Me and Patches, we've been super tight
for over a decade now,
and I'm just glad that we're in a position
that we can do this project for him.
We've been riding bikes together
for so long.
I've seen him struggle
with his PTSD over the years.
But ever since he got Gloria,
you can see things
just started to get better.
Gloria made a huge difference
in Patches's life.
But the fact
that he couldn't ride with Gloria,
you could really tell it bummed him out.
But this Slingshot
is gonna look so cool when we're done.
I think he's gonna love riding it.
He's gonna be able
to bring Gloria along with him.
It's gonna be badass.
[Mark] Perfect.

is get that grille fit in,
and get the back wheel on it
and the back end done.
In the morning, I gotta hop
on a big call with you know who, Shawn.

and we'll keep knocking this thing out.

we won't stand over your shoulder
and tell you how to build the car.

about a 1965 Pontiac GTO?
You know, a GTO,
it's an iconic muscle car,
and we've got a ton of parts for them.
So you guys could really do
anything you wanted to with it.
That's a That's a pretty badass ride.

-So what are your plans for this vehicle?
Are you guys thinking
about bringing it to a show,
putting it on your website?
Well, we have a big show coming up.
We are the title sponsor of the Good Guys
24th Speedway Motors Southwest Nationals.
And we want to do
an unveiling of your car at that show.
Uh, that's, uh That kind of stepped up
the game there a little bit.
Wow. That is big.
To unveil this at the Good Guys Southwest
Nationals in Scottsdale, Arizona,
that's much bigger
than any of us expected.
This is one of the premier
car shows in the country.
At this show there's a ton
of super high-end custom hot rods.
Some of the best shops in the country
present their cars at this show.
So what do you guys think?

isn't what I was expecting,
it's impossible for me to pass up
this kind of creative freedom.

form of exposure for the shop,

reel in all these big clients.
So at the end of the day,
this Speedway Motors deal
does make sense for us.

Patches is gonna freak out

[Tony] The last thing we need to do
to this Slingshot before Mark paints it
is add this huge back tire.

And we're gonna have to completely modify
the entire back end of this Slingshot
to make that 30-inch tire work.
This flange will be
the mount for the sprocket.
This flange will be
where the wheel mounts.
And we can put in wheel studs,
so it slides over
and bolts on with lug nuts.
I know we don't have a huge budget.
It's only 15 grand,
but I don't have any problem
putting in a little extra time
and a little extra work.
-So this is gonna go like right there.
-[Constance] Yeah.
-You're gonna weld it in?
-[Tony] Yeah.
Patches is Caveman's best friend.
He's a friend
of everyone here at the shop.
-Get it lined up good, Caveman.
-There you go.
[Tony] And we just want
to make this so special for him.
He's gonna have
the most badass Slingshot on the road.
That's the biggest wheel
and the biggest swingarm I've ever seen.
-It looks pretty good so far.
-[chuckling]
I just got to finish
welding it all together to make the hub,
and we can get this back on the road,
make it a driver.
[Mark] I'm gonna go paint this thing,
then we'll get it back here,

And we totally transformed the exterior
with these Camaro body panels.
When it first came in,
that back tire was like
a little teeny tiny tricycle.
Now it looks like a monster truck.
We took all of our skills,
threw them into this build,
and it just came out wicked.

Knowing that Patches and Gloria
get to enjoy this vehicle,
and now they can ride with me,
that makes me all warm and fuzzy inside.

did you track down a '65 GTO this fast?

never reveals his tricks.
[Mark] Yeah, well, even the ugly guy
gets lucky in the bar once in a while.
So on a scale of one to ten by what
you've been told or what you looked at,
what kind of shape is it in?
He says it looks like a nine and a half.
As soon as Mark agreed
to do a deal with Speedway Motors,
I put out an APB for a '65 GTO.

and believe it or not,

But the car is in great shape.

The alignment's good.
Everything is good in this car.

will reflect the salvage title.

even if you restore the car
and make it whole again,

But it makes it hard
for him to go on motorcycle rides.
She doesn't fit on the motorcycle safely.
So recently,
he purchased a Polaris Slingshot.
Because now she can
always be with him and she'll be safe.
But here's the problem.
Us Harley guys, we think these Slingshots
are some of the butt-ugliest
vehicles on the road.
And Patches is kind of embarrassed
to take it on motorcycle rides with us.
So he was hoping we could take our skills
and make this thing look like a hot rod.
What kind of money
has Patches got to spend?
Well, you know, he's he's not loaded.
He's got right about
15 grand he can spend.
I was thinking,
since we just sold the concept vehicles,
I figured we could do him a little favor.
I think it's pretty cool.
I'd like to help Patches out.
I mean, I'm game.

anything different and weird.
This Slingshot build for Patches
is actually the perfect build
for us right now.

but, to me, this is a rare chance

that matches the old Bugs
from the '60s and '70s.

an off-road badass underneath
and that eclectic Bug on the outside.

all these nasty plastic panels.
Then we're gonna replace that plastic
with American muscle.

a bunch of metal from a '69 Camaro,
front-end grille, fenders,

that'll transform this into a hot rod.
We'll give it a huge tire at the back,
and then Mark will paint it
with a badass muscle car paint job.

Believe it or not,
I've been busting my ass
telling everybody
about the concept vehicles.

the concept vehicles sale,
I know Mark's chomping at the bit
for a high-paying client
that'll let him go crazy creatively.
But, as much as
I've been spreading the word,
I still haven't found that super
high-end client Mark's looking for.
But I think I may have
found the next best thing.

that could end up being
a game-changer for this shop.

They heard about the concept vehicles
and saw some pictures,
and they were so impressed
with what they saw
they want to commission Gotham Garage
to build them a branded car.
Speedway Motors is one of the biggest
names in the automotive world.
They're a worldwide retailer
of automotive parts.
We've probably got ten or 15
Speedway Motors catalogs
laying around in the shop right now.
On occasion, they'll partner up
with shops like ours
to build a branded car
that showcases
tons of Speedway Motors parts.
And they'll use it for publicity
and bring it to big events.
The exposure
on a build like this is insane.
I guess they want a super unique ride
that incorporates all their parts.
Pretty cool, right?
Well, it's flattering, for sure,
but what kind of money
are they talking about?
So here's the thing.
On a branded deal like this,
they basically pay for our labor.
That's about it.
So what you're saying
is it's a work-for-hire job?
If you want to look at it that way.
But it's more than that.
We'd be building a car
for one of the biggest names
in the automotive world,
and they're coming to us
for our creativity.
It's not the biggest money-maker for us,
but the upside
of the exposure outweighs that.
I I thought you'd be loving this.
I see what you're saying about exposure
and getting the name out there.
But we've already done that.
We did it with the Petersen.
I personally think
we're beyond that, past that.
That's That was yesterday.
We're in today.
[Shawn] I know Mark thinks
that selling those concept vehicles
should immediately give us
the best of both worlds,
creative freedom plus big paydays.
But the bottom line is this,
one big sale isn't gonna magically
change everything overnight.
It takes time,
and reeling in those big clients,

This is just one more component
to get us to those super big deals.

The one request
Patches gave Caveman on this Slingshot
was he wanted it to have a hot rod feel.
And nothing screams hot rod
like a 1969 Camaro.
[Tony] Kind of sunk
like that a little bit?
There we go.
We're gonna take all of these
Camaro body panels and modify them,
so they all fit on top of this Slingshot.
I think the warranty was still good
-until you made that cut.
-[chuckles]
[Mark] It's gonna transform
this thing like crazy,
and it's gonna make this thing
one of the most custom
Slingshots rolling down the highway.
-[Tony] All right, so I can chop this up?
-[Mark] Please do.
Well, you know, it's not every day
we get to take brand-new fenders,
hoods, right out of the box
and just slice right into them.
-[Caveman] Whoo!
-[Constance laughs]

Me and Patches, we've been super tight
for over a decade now,
and I'm just glad that we're in a position
that we can do this project for him.
We've been riding bikes together
for so long.
I've seen him struggle
with his PTSD over the years.
But ever since he got Gloria,
you can see things
just started to get better.
Gloria made a huge difference
in Patches's life.
But the fact
that he couldn't ride with Gloria,
you could really tell it bummed him out.
But this Slingshot
is gonna look so cool when we're done.
I think he's gonna love riding it.
He's gonna be able
to bring Gloria along with him.
It's gonna be badass.

and get the back wheel on it
and the back end done.

it's an iconic muscle car,
and we've got a ton of parts for them.
So you guys could really do
anything you wanted to with it.

-So what are your plans for this vehicle?

about bringing it to a show,
putting it on your website?

24th Speedway Motors Southwest Nationals.
And we want to do
an unveiling of your car at that show.

the game there a little bit.

To unveil this at the Good Guys Southwest
Nationals in Scottsdale, Arizona,
that's much bigger
than any of us expected.
This is one of the premier
car shows in the country.
At this show there's a ton
of super high-end custom hot rods.
Some of the best shops in the country
present their cars at this show.

So at the end of the day,
this Speedway Motors deal
does make sense for us.

-That is a 30-inch tire.

Patches is gonna freak out
when he sees
that big old tire on the back, man.
[Tony] The last thing we need to do
to this Slingshot before Mark paints it
is add this huge back tire.

And we're gonna have to completely modify
the entire back end of this Slingshot
to make that 30-inch tire work.
This flange will be
the mount for the sprocket.
This flange will be
where the wheel mounts.
And we can put in wheel studs,
so it slides over
and bolts on with lug nuts.
I know we don't have a huge budget.
It's only 15 grand,
but I don't have any problem
putting in a little extra time
and a little extra work.
-So this is gonna go like right there.
-[Constance] Yeah.
-You're gonna weld it in?
-[Tony] Yeah.
Patches is Caveman's best friend.
He's a friend
of everyone here at the shop.
-Get it lined up good, Caveman.
-There you go.
[Tony] And we just want
to make this so special for him.
He's gonna have
the most badass Slingshot on the road.
That's the biggest wheel
and the biggest swingarm I've ever seen.
-It looks pretty good so far.

I just got to finish
welding it all together to make the hub,
and we can get this back on the road,
make it a driver.
[Mark] I'm gonna go paint this thing,
then we'll get it back here,
and we can finish it off for Patches.
-Yeah. Let's do that.

[Mark] The paint job on this Slingshot
will totally complete the transformation.
I'm going classic muscle car paint.
And I'm even gonna give it
a racing stripe down the middle.

Seeing this Slingshot come together,
it's badass for everybody here.
With the Camaro body panels
and the big tire in the back,
everybody just stepped it up
to help out Patches.

much about this build.

So I really hope
he loves this thing when he sees it.

gonna let you see it until he sees it.

He came up with this killer idea.

for Caveman and and Gotham Garage,
that they took on this project,
for even thinking about me like this.

with a 30-inch back wheel.
Tony designed
this entire swingarm mechanism.
-[Patches] Wow.
-It's belt into chain drive.
Oh, wow.
It runs like a champ, dude.

It goes about 120, 150, right?
Probably faster with that big wheel.
It just gained you a gear.
You're gonna get me in trouble
when I go down the freeway.

is the exact project we needed right now.
The whole shop banded together,
and we helped out my brother.
What we did to this thing
is almost unbelievable.
That Slingshot was nasty
when it first got here.
And we totally transformed the exterior
with these Camaro body panels.
When it first came in,
that back tire was like
a little teeny tiny tricycle.
Now it looks like a monster truck.
We took all of our skills,
threw them into this build,
and it just came out wicked.
[music continues]
Knowing that Patches and Gloria
get to enjoy this vehicle,
and now they can ride with me,
that makes me all warm and fuzzy inside.

[Mark] So how in the world
did you track down a '65 GTO this fast?
[Shawn] A good magician
never reveals his tricks.
[Mark] Yeah, well, even the ugly guy
gets lucky in the bar once in a while.
So on a scale of one to ten by what
you've been told or what you looked at,
what kind of shape is it in?
He says it looks like a nine and a half.
As soon as Mark agreed
to do a deal with Speedway Motors,
I put out an APB for a '65 GTO.
-Hey, Rich, it's Shawn.
-How you doing?
[Shawn] I talked to all my bird-dogs,
and believe it or not,
it didn't take me long
to track down one doozy of a car.
Who would have a '65 GTO right now?
Any condition. Think for a sec. Who's got?
I think my buddy Sean
might actually have one.
Sean just listed this car,
and I don't know much about it at all.
And I just wanted to get there
before everybody else takes a look at it.
It's one of those things
you've gotta find out for yourself
if it's a gem or a turd.
He's got a lot of cars here. Man.
[Mark] Man, he's got some cool stuff.
Man, is that the GTO?
Man, that thing looks good.
[Mark] That's, uh This ain't a junkyard.
This is a gemyard.
-[Shawn] Look at the GTO. It's nice.

So this is her. '65 GTO.
I like the fact that the interior
is in perfect condition.

Some re-chroming still needs to be done,
but for original chrome it's
It looks like a factory car on the inside.
On the floor
-Yeah.
-[Mark] Yeah, it's a sweet ride.
-Really nice car.
-What are you asking for this peach?
[Sean] Before we get started with that,
let me let you know
the car has a salvage title.
Oh, that's too bad.
Man, it looks good, though.
The salvage title is designed
to let you know that you're buying a car
that got in a giant accident
at a certain point
in time in its lifespan.
It's a major black eye
on a car's permanent record.
But the car is in great shape.
I've been through it front to back.
The alignment's good.
Everything is good in this car.
I mean, the price
will reflect the salvage title.
Yeah, unfortunately, I don't think
this car's gonna work for us,
which is a bummer, man.
In the car world,
even if you restore the car
and make it whole again,
the word "salvage" stays on the title,
and it has a serious effect
on the value of the car.
You can't get rid of it,
and everybody wants nothing to do with it.
