Project Runway: All Stars (2012) s04e07 Episode Script

Mix and Match.com

Previously on Project Runway: All Stars This is a fashion gamble.
Denim.
Yay.
Masquerade ball.
Sonjia, your fabric is brocade, and your event is bachelorette party.
It's reading a little bit pepto-bismol.
She's got a hairy chest.
You don't want to be predictable in any way, shape, or form.
Yeah.
This neon chartreuse, it's brilliant.
I love it.
Thank you.
This girl is the bachelorette party.
The drapery, the skirt, looks super young and super rich.
This week's winner is sonjia.
Really? You're missing on the proportion of the whole dress.
All this fringing made the top look incredibly unflattering.
It doesn't look finished.
It was neither denim nor masquerade ball.
The eliminated designer is Gunnar.
14 of the best designers from Project Runway are back.
And this time, the competition is bigger than ever.
Each week, their skills are tested to the limit as they compete for the largest prize in runway history.
Who will be cut, and who will have it all sewn up? This is Project Runway: All Stars.
Hi.
All: Ooh.
Hello, all-stars.
All: Hi.
You're all looking sharp this week, which is good, because how you present yourself counts, and what we wear plays a huge part in people's impressions of us.
This week, you're gonna collaborate by working in pairs.
Oh, God, here it goes.
Sonjia, you won last week's challenge, right? That means you get to play matchmaker.
Ooh.
Really? Oh.
So I want you to name who you want to pair up, starting with yourself.
But, boo, I don't know what we're doing.
Oh, my God, I can't believe this is happening.
I'm not prepared.
[Laughs.]
I want to pick dmitry.
All right.
Let's do it.
Sonjia picks me to work with her 'cause I'm the best.
Why else? Okay, and now you get to pick everyone else's pairs.
Fabio and Jay.
Ah.
Sam and Michelle.
Hey, girl.
Michelle, she's Portland.
I'm a little New York.
I'm a little, like, it-girl.
She's a little morePortland.
I don't know.
And that leaves Justin and Helen.
All right, guys, now go sit in your pairs.
Designers, we've teamed up with match.
Com to help New York singles looking for love.
Aw.
You'll be working as a pair, but it won't be on your regular model.
You'll be designing outfits for two singles about to go on their first date.
Aww.
That's neat.
That means we're dressing a man.
On my season with Samantha, we had to design stripper wear for men, and it was a complete disaster.
Oh, no.
It's hysterical.
Oh, my heart is sinking.
The more successful your collaboration, the greater the chances of the singles having great chemistry.
And you don't have long, because the dates are tonight.
What? What? We only have one day to make this look.
One day.
I'm always the bearer of bad news, huh? It's awful.
But I do have good news, because there is a prize.
Match.
Com is sending the winner for a full day of pampering on a luxury spa date for two.
All: Ooh.
Your budget this week is $300 per pair, and how you split that up is totally up to you.
Your singles are waiting to meet you right now in the workroom, so go find out as much about them as you possibly can.
And let's see if we can spark some romance.
Good luck.
One day to make menswear.
Hey.
Helen.
Hi, Becca.
Sonjia, nice to meet you.
Dmitry.
Pleasure to meet you.
I'm Samantha.
Hi, Samantha.
Michelle.
Michelle.
We are going to be designing for a match.
Com potential couple.
To keep the element of surprise on their first date tonight, we're meeting these singles separately.
Have you been on many first dates on match.
Com? This is my first.
Yay.
Yes, I'm very excited.
I hope it works out.
What's your style? Yeah.
Sexy, but also chic and classy.
I do go for pencils.
I also like crop tops a lot.
Arvind.
Arvind, nice to meet you.
Hello, Michelle.
What if we did a trouser? Sure.
And what if instead of, like, a button-down, we did some sort of cashmere for you, like a sweater? Yeah, that'd be cool.
They're going on their first date, and they need to look special and a little saucy.
So what are you most comfortable in, especially on a date? You know, like, looser on top.
Like, a softer fabric.
So you want to be comfortable but attractive at the same time.
Right.
I'm John.
I'm Helen.
I'm Justin.
Nice to meet you.
You're so handsome.
Oh, thank you very much.
What do you like to wear? I would probably just like a jeans and a button-down.
Like, I'm certainly not fashion-forward.
The window at, like, j crew, that's pretty much what I wear.
Time is our biggest enemy right now, because their date is tonight.
Well, I like to look, like, elegant, sophisticated, but still sexy.
We do sexy well.
We do, actually.
I love bright colors.
I always tell people I love how Kim Kardashian looks now that she's with kanye west, not when she was with ray j.
It's getting some ideas stirring up in my brain.
Yeah, the juices are flowing.
So what do you like to wear and enjoy? I usually wear blues and grays, something a little bit darker.
I'm thinking very light pulled sweater, kind of tight because you have a great body.
I like it.
We want to give our couple something stylish that looks effortless and impressive.
Fabio.
Bryce, nice to meet you.
I had an American boyfriend.
We broke up three years ago.
Okay.
I'm so happy we got a-- the gays? Me too.
You see a hot guy.
What is he wearing? I like guys with muscles, so they might be wearing a tank top with something that's form-fitting and showing off their muscles.
Okay.
Pretty much a t-shirt, jeans, sneaker kind of guy.
I rarely dress up.
Obviously, we're not gonna send you to your first date in a t-shirt and jeans.
We've got to do something else.
Kind of like elevate, you know? No, I love it.
I'm open.
Put some twinkle in it.
For my label, I do menswear.
It's, like, something that I'm really comfortable doing.
A pleasure to meet you.
I look forward to it.
Really excited to see what you put together.
Good luck.
Yeah, thank you, thank you.
I'll make it look cute.
Okay.
I think you should make the men's.
I'm begging you.
Oh, my God.
Begging you to make the mens.
Just because you're so beautiful, I'm gonna say yes.
I like Bryce better, yeah.
Okay, I like tarek.
We can shop for the fabrics together.
Yes.
And make it cohesive.
Yep.
But I take him and you take her? We can help each other.
You haven't done menswear.
Maybe I should do menswear.
It's something that I can do.
All right.
Justin has absolutely no faith in me and my capability of doing men's clothing.
I don't want to see Helen suffer.
I should be doing the menswear, but it is what it is.
I'm kind of gravitating towards racquel.
I'm, like, super nervous about doing menswear, because I honestly have very rarely done it.
It's not really fair if one partner gets to design for a lady and the other partner has to design for a gent.
I actually have a feeling that you can do a really great job.
Thank you, Sam.
I'm gonna need your confidence.
It already sets you up for failure, and I'm really downtrodden about that.
Oh, boy, here we go.
Designers, we have 30 minutes.
Tarek really likes t-shirts and jeans, but [Bleep.]
denim.
That's all I used last week, and it landed me in the bottom, so we're not doing that again.
We're gonna do a three-piece look.
Midnight blue for the pants.
I have a light, soft blue for the top, and then for the layer jacket, I'm doing, like, a Navy blue nylon.
I think it's gonna be fun.
Ooh, bolt.
More cobalt than this.
Sonjia.
I am designing for Bryce.
I want to make a jacket that has a little bit of a popped collar, a loose tank top, and a pair of casual jeans.
I find this amazing pink fabric for my jacket.
It looks sophisticated.
It looks bright.
It looks gay.
Sonjia, I'll show you my kind of first-- okay.
I'm making a sweater that will be asymmetrical, so I will be playing with black and Navy.
So then I will create this cool pattern if I have time.
Ten minutes, guys.
Dmitry.
Oh, this is really cool.
I love it.
My woman, Helen, she's really into bright colors.
So I find a turquoise-y blue wool Jersey knit that could really stand out on this first date.
All right, everybody.
That's time.
How you feeling? You look a little ill.
I'm getting tunnel vision and lightheaded and really feel like I'm gonna pass out.
Oh, God.
I feel really sick, and it's only getting worse.
All: Thank you, mood.
Where's my table? Let's get it popping.
Yeah, I think this would be really cute, and then a miniskirt with panels.
Yeah, that would be gorgeous.
I'm making her a shirt dress, so it's sleeveless and has a collar.
It's gonna read really sexy but also sophisticated.
That looks good.
So cute, right? That looks good.
John, he likes to wear button-downs a lot.
So as a designer, we have to give them what they want, but at the same time, I need to stay true to my aesthetic, so it's a balancing act.
[Bleep.]
.
So then I was like, maybe try to find-- maybe if I do something.
You can make it pencilly? If it's shorter, I feel like it has to be a pencil.
I think it looks awesome, like, pencilly short.
No, I love it, too.
God.
Sam doesn't help me at all, and I'm not in a very happy place about it.
How you feeling, Michelle? I feel so sick that I'm, like, dizzy, and I don't know any-- I'm just sort of tracing on paper.
I can't even measure straight.
Like, my eyes are crossing.
I'll just be happy if I get something on this man.
I have no idea if these things are gonna even fit this guy.
How's it going? I can make womenswear sick, easy.
But I don't design around a penis every day.
You know, it'd suck to go home when I don't feel well and I can't make a men's.
I don't want to be sick.
My brain is mushy-mush, mush.
I'm paired with Michelle.
And she's a little under the weather, and so it's slowing her down a little bit.
I think I'm just getting frustrated 'cause my body's not working.
Sam doesn't help me at all.
I'm so woozy.
I feel like I'm going to die.
Project Runway: All Stars is completely like when you're on the plane and it's going down, and they're like, "save yourself first and then proceed to help the next person.
" So if I'm in a place that I'm okay, I totally do not mind helping Michelle, but at this point, I'm not there.
Whatevs.
This is fun! Doo wa zee ba Dee Dee Zanna's here.
Oh, hey.
Hello, all-stars.
Hello.
I love the idea that you're all playing matchmaker this week.
So I'm here to help you all.
All right, let's get started.
I love this color.
Yes! That's great.
It's such a beautiful color.
Yeah.
Tell me what you're doing.
At first, i was gonna do the menswear, but then there was some skepticism.
So I'm gonna stick to what I'm good at.
I decided to take elements from the menswear, which is the collar and the style lines, and create a little shirt dress.
The menswear details on the women's look, I'm always all for that.
Zanna comes in, and she loves my style.
She loves the color.
I think the fitting's gonna go really well.
I'm doing John.
What he would like to have is nothing too "fashion.
" This pant, which is denim, I'm giving it a dress pant treatment.
Justin's look, it looks like a regular pair of jeans.
It looks like nothing.
It's a nice idea, but keep it masculine, as well.
So I'm designing for racquel.
She loves, like, the pencil look.
She also liked crop tops.
The thing about this is it's simple-ish silhouette.
Is that gonna read on the runway? How are you? I'm a little under the weather--it's okay.
Oh, sweetheart, I can see it.
Are you okay? Yeah, I'll be fine.
What are we making? I'm making a pair of slacks that have kind of a modern detail in the pocket, and a cashmere sweater.
I love it.
Giving someone a hug and they've got a nice cashmere sweater on, you're just like, "I don't want to let go.
" Right.
I have a woman, Helen.
She's going on a date with dmitry's guy.
She loves bright colors.
Yeah.
I'm just trying to play around with the drape of it.
This is, like, a loud statement in itself.
You don't need anything that's too elaborate.
You don't need to look like she just won a pageant.
Okay.
So I have Craig.
He likes to be comfortable but dressy at the same time.
So I'm creating this half-black sweater and half-Navy.
Dmitry's look, I think it's a really nice pair of pants.
But I think it's just nice.
And I'm gonna stitch it one by one.
You guys make things look really simple, but are actually super complex.
Thank you.
Howdy, Zanna.
Tell me what you're doing.
I'm designing for tarek, and he's going on a first date with Bryce.
This was the jacket, but as I cut it, i really like it short-sleeved.
So you caught me between keeping this or ditching it and going for this.
So you've turned the jacket into a shirt.
Yeah.
It's sexy, and it's sophisticated, but at the same time it's enough of something different.
Different--cool.
What the hell are you thinking? This is a pink jacket.
It is a pink jacket.
Jay used pink on menswear, which I would never do.
I mean, this would work for me.
Is it gonna work for a buff Australian? Oh, no.
Let's--we shall see.
Thinking about giving some masculine touches even though, you know, he's going on a date with a guy.
Yeah.
He still wants to look like a-a man.
Okay, designers, these are people on real dates, and they're representing you guys on the runway.
So bear that in mind as you finish up in the next few hours.
Let's make some matches.
Good luck.
One hour 'till our lovers come back.
I'm a girl.
It does look a little feminine.
Zanna mentions that my coat is too feminine.
The sleeve right now is pink.
The whole bodice is pink.
I need to minimize the pink.
I'm gonna make the sleeves this.
So I decide to make this jacket masculine by doing the sleeves in gray.
It's really important for me to construct this jacket flawlessly, because I'm an outerwear designer.
Much, much better.
Girl, girl.
Oh, that's better.
Hi, hi.
Hey.
Good, how are you? Hi.
This week, biosilk hair care salon is here to help our singles from match.
Com.
Welcome to the chi biosilk salon.
We're gonna get you ready for your date.
So this is our rock hard gel, so that should be good for a first date, right? Our biosilk silk therapy lite, it's gonna give some moisture to these ends.
That sounds great.
What you need to have is a little bit of volume, a little bit of fun, so I'm gonna recommend our biosilk volumizing line.
Gorgeous.
Hey.
Hi.
Hi.
Our singles are coming back in to get dressed for their dates, and I'm really excited for them to meet tonight.
I put tarek on his look, and I'm really happy because it looks completely perfect.
I think this is coming together.
I'm so excited and so proud of what I made for Bryce.
I think it's cute.
He's gonna knock this guy's socks off.
Perfect.
Is it not too tight? No, no, no, no.
Okay.
I was able to compose a nice pant and button-down shirt in a day.
I didn't think that was possible.
It's really cute, it's short, it's got a great color.
So I feel like even at night it's gonna be a stand-out.
I think this is perfect.
That's ready for you.
Go like this, girl.
I feel really awful, and I can't tell arvind that 'cause that will just ruin his confidence before a date.
So I've got to be perky.
Now put your change in your pocket.
Oh, yeah.
How do you feel? Awesome, this is great.
Yay! It's like a fricking Christmas miracle that i did this and I was this sick.
Cute.
I love it.
Racquel looks so neat and cool, like, it has a sophistication and simplicity to it that's really nice.
I always wanted, like, someone to cut to my-- something for my body.
Right.
And I finally got it.
Whoo.
I can't believe it.
I just--I just, like, pulled it out of my ass.
Well done, sir.
Well done, sir, thank you.
Love it.
I love it.
Yeah? She's actually wearing this garment on a first date, so I think the added pressure's there because not only do you want this for yourself, but you want this for them.
Like, you want them to look good so that maybe there's some type of chemistry there.
Enjoy your date.
Have fun.
Bye! Good luck! Do everything I would do and more.
Have fun on your dates! No hokey-pokey.
Hi.
Hello.
Pleasure to meet you.
So nice to meet you.
It is.
Racquel, hi.
Hi, how are you? Good, how are you? Pleasure to meet you.
Likewise.
Hey.
Tarek.
Nice to meet you.
Nice to meet you, too.
Hey.
Hey, how are you? Good.
Good to meet you.
You look gorgeous.
Michelle told me to touch your shoulder because she said that-- oh, yeah, I get a cashmere sweater.
What do you think of the dress? I love it.
I think it's very me.
Stand up for me.
It's very dmitry, right? I love it.
I actually saw that on the mannequin.
Oh, you did? And I was like, "that's gonna look awesome.
" You look great.
Thank you! You too.
I'm liking the color.
I think we color coordinate pretty well.
I think so.
Let's go upstairs and grab a drink.
Here's to getting to know one another.
Yes, cheers.
Cheers.
Good drinks, right? That's good.
[Indistinct chatter.]
That's good.
We got things to do.
I want my outfit.
Oh, I must alter his.
I wonder how the date went.
Do you think we made a match in heaven? Morning of the runway, I'm finally starting to feel better, which is good because i have a lot of work to do.
Our singles are coming back in to get dressed for the runway show.
Also to get hair and makeup done.
I cannot wait to find out how their date went.
So what did you guys think of each other's outfits? I thought he looked very sharp.
It showed off his body, and-- do you like the jacket? I love the jacket.
I think he looked very handsome.
Well, job well done, Jay.
I'm gonna go finish this.
I'm glad you guys had fun.
I'm really excited to see that my singles are now kind of a couple.
I think the outfits really did help.
But it is a runway day, and I have to make everything absolutely perfect.
Craig looked so handsome.
I loved his sweater.
And Helen looked incredible.
I mean, the color looks so great with her eyes and her skin, and we had a lot of fun on the date.
Yes.
Oh.
Did you touch the cashmere? I did.
We had a really good time, and the clothes were beautiful.
Yay! We like to hear that.
It had such good movement.
It was such a unique piece.
You know, I usually do fitted, so this was a risk for me, for sure.
How about you? Good.
Pants were, like, amazing.
The shirt was still, like, tight here, but-- yeah, I'll try to release it a little bit on the sides.
I'm so excited to see you both, the look on, like, together on the runway.
Yeah, right? Racquel, let's go hit the chi hair care salon, get you all beautified.
Hi, welcome to the chi biosilk salon.
So if we could clean up around the ears.
We're gonna utilize our silk therapy lite to give it a little bit of shine.
A little messy.
We'll use a little rock hard gelee and molding silk, give it a little bit of texture, some movement.
Yup.
You're gonna be ready for the runway.
Time to head over to the Mary kay color design studio.
A heavy cat eye with maybe, like, a nude lip.
A little bit of apricot twist? Apricot twist.
We need pink.
Wild about rose.
Ooh, I love that.
Thank you.
Thank you so much.
All right, guys, we have 30 minutes.
I run over to the QVC accessory wall.
There is so much stuff up there that looks really great, and I'm like, "cool, that goes with my look.
" I'm gonna put a snap in here.
Fabio's guy looks like a little boy.
And it actually looks like a medical uniform or something.
Let's see.
I really love Jay's jacket.
I wanted to wear it for myself.
I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing, but I thought it was cute, and I would totally wear it.
Yup.
Throw it over.
If Helen doesn't go home this week, i would be totally surprised.
It looks like a weird shirt with bad seaming, and it's in the Monica Lewinsky blue dress fabric.
Is it gonna come back with a stain? I don't know.
It's looking real bad.
All right, guys, that's time.
But I also think that Jay's look is barf, and I think that fabio's look is terrible, too.
So who knows? The winner of Project Runway: All Stars will be given the chance to create their own capsule collection with QVC and will appear on QVC's spring fashion week, a fashion spread in Marie Claire and a position at the magazine as contributing editor for one year.
Chi hair care will send the winner to stay in a luxury spa resort as a special guest at their international conference in Cancun, Mexico, plus product and staff for an entire year of runway shows.
From Mary Kay, an entire year's worth of beauty products for their fashion shows and professional makeup artist services for their debut show, and from Brother Sewing and embroidery, a complete sewing and crafting studio to launch their line, and $150,000 in cash.
All: Aww.
Oh, the hair.
Hey, hey, hey.
Hi.
Hi.
How are you guys doing? All: Good.
Did you have fun with this match.
Com challenge? Yup.
Yeah.
Well, this week you were paired up to help match.
Com singles fall in love on their first date.
You had to work together to create outfits to set the singles up for success.
But who will judge your final looks? First, co-founder and designer of luxury brand Marchesa, miss Georgina Chapman.
Hello, designers.
Next, one of the most iconic names in American fashion, designer Isaac Mizrahi.
And our guest this week is an emmy-nominated actress.
Her work as a transgender advocate landed her on the cover of time magazine, and she's about to publish her memoir.
From orange is the new black, please welcome Laverne Cox.
Whoo! Whoo! This week's winner receives a luxury spa date for two from match.
Com.
Have a good show, good luck.
All: Thank you.
I love the cut-out.
I love the fit.
I love the color.
I knew that it would look great on her skin complexion.
I'm happy about it.
Get it, Helen, girl.
Good job.
I wish the blue was a little bit lighter.
I played with black and blue to create this pattern, and I think it looks really, really cool and chic.
She looks great.
It drapes so nicely on her.
I'm like, "oh, my gosh.
Your bust is not overwhelming.
" It looks all neat and cool.
It has a sophistication and simplicity to it that's really nice.
I love it.
Damn, this is a fantastic-looking men's outfit.
I made him look wealthy and modern and slightly edgy and a little euro.
Nailed it.
Totally nailed it.
I mean, this is, like, the epitome of comfortable wear that's not a yoga pants.
I'm really, really proud of this.
Aww.
Oh, look at those sleeves.
I made a jacket, a tank top, and a pair of jeans, stuff that I've never done in the past.
And for me to be able to see Bryce be confident about his outfit, that makes me feel really happy.
The look's completely perfect, and I'm really excited for this.
Jay and I have the best pair here.
All: Aww.
It looks really good.
She looks beautiful and fashion-forward, sexy but also sophisticated.
She seems really confident and comfortable, and that's what I wanted to give her.
It's very clean and modern.
Great fit, really great fit.
Those are some good pants.
My favorite part of the look is the pants.
I would wear them.
I love it.
The shit is dressy but comfortable.
It reflects who he is as a person.
Designers, thank you for a fun and very romantic runway.
This week, you're all getting a critique.
Sonjia, dmitry, Sam, and Michelle, we're gonna start with you guys.
And everyone else can wait in the backstage lounge.
Sonjia, we're gonna start with you.
This is Helen, and I wanted something that would give her sex appeal on a first date.
She loves bright colors, so I picked a really pretty blue that I thought would stand out on her skin.
Dmitry, introduce us to your model.
This is Craig, and he has kind of sportsy, relaxed personal style, and I wanted to give him something chic but comfortable.
So Helen and Craig, I'm dying to know--I think we all are--how was your date? Mm-hmm.
It was wonderful.
She's great, she looks great, she's really intelligent and a lot of fun, and we had a great time.
And what story did you get from Craig when you saw him? Richard gere.
Richard gere.
Oh, that's good.
Marry that woman.
Sonjia, I'll start with you, with Helen's dress.
Okay.
That's actually a great color, and I think it looks wonderful on her skin, and you stand out in a room, which is really important on a first date.
I'm not sure about this Crescent moon cut-out.
I like the cut-out because without the cut-out, she would be, like, sort of going to lunch or going to work.
There's some great detail in the bodice that excites me, and I love how good you felt in it walking down the runway.
Thank you.
You know, I think she looks beautiful, and the only criticism I can give you is that it just doesn't look date night enough to me.
Not enough for you? And as far as the outfit on Craig is concerned, i think a diagonal on anybody's body is extremely flattering, so that's good for a first date.
The sweater, I'm in love with it.
I'm underwhelmed by this.
With menswear, I love it when a man has an interesting tie or pocket square.
I would have liked more color or something a touch more showy.
He looks like he's been married for 20 years with her, rather than the first date.
You know, I got lots of compliments on it yesterday, so I think I like it.
Good.
Sam, you're next.
This is racquel.
She likes things comfortable.
She likes pale colors, but she also liked crop tops.
So I wanted to make a flattering crop top for bigger busts and still keep it sophisticated and flirty for a date night.
And Michelle? Monsieur arvind, here, is a classic guy.
So I did a classic wool pant and a cashmere sweater with modern detailing, especially focusing on cashmere so she could reach out and touch him during the date, like [Purring noise.]
.
So racquel and arvind, was there any chemistry on your date? He's Indian, and I studied abroad in India, so we--we talked a bit about that, which was fun.
I think we will try again.
I think it's a good first date outfit, but as far as, like, having a designer design something for you, i feel like I could pick this up in a store.
I think the top is successful.
In the front, it's quite pretty.
Can we see you from the profile? I think it would have been a little more balanced if you hadn't gone quite so long in the back.
I don't feel comfortable looking at her because I'm afraid if she moves in the wrong way, I'm gonna see her bra again, 'cause I did see her bra.
My big concern was boobs.
Boobs were your problem? Like, a move, like-- don't make boobs your problem, darling.
Yeah, boobs are lovely.
Michelle, I think you did an amazing job this week.
Thanks.
Can you turn around? I love the button detail on the pocket.
I love that you used cashmere and something soft.
I like it.
It looks very nice.
It just looks a little junior, something with all the details and the zippers there, i don't know.
The pants are, like, sort of pooling at the ankles, and the shirt is very loose, and I think if it was more fitted, it might seem a little chicer.
I like this look a lot.
I think it feels masculine.
It feels relaxed.
Great detailing.
I like it.
Thank you, designers, and all of your models.
Justin, you're up.
This is John, and he really likes clean-cut clothing.
He likes really minimal and nothing too crazy.
Helen, do you want to introduce us to your model? My model is Becca, and she wanted a look that was playful and flirty.
In the back, I left it open because she loves backless, and I gave a cape effect, too, in the back, so when she moves, it's just super flirty.
How was your date? It was so fun.
It was awesome.
Is there gonna be a second date? Oh, my God.
Of course.
It's after the show.
We're totally getting married.
Helen, my problem with this fabric is it looks like a pair of amazing pajamas.
I was happy when I saw the back.
That was when I was like, "yippee, we've got some personality here.
" I wanted to give her a little modesty, with like, "hey, I'm fun, but I'm really fun in the back.
" Okay, I take it all back.
I love it now.
The design, the lines, the weird, like, uneven hem.
From the front, she's--looks pregnant or something to me.
It doesn't look like a first date.
It looks like a first trimester.
And Justin, it's like he told you to make him nothing, and you made him nothing.
Banana Republic is what that could be, you know? This is what he wanted.
Not okay.
Straight men, I think, like to look sexy, too.
Especially if they're going on a date with potential of, you know, whatever.
Having fun in the back later.
He's, like, computer analyst, and it's not saying to me "date night.
" I actually give this a high score because I thought as far as construction goes, really beautiful job.
I gave this look high scores because I think John is very sexy.
I think he's a very sexy man, and if things don't work out with you two, John, you should call me.
Okay.
Oh, my God.
Hi, Jay.
This is Bryce.
I wanted to make sure that I gave him something that's crafted really well, and hopefully he's happy.
Fabio.
This is tarek.
When he came in, first thing he said was, "I'm a t-shirt and jeans kind of guy.
" Jay and I were like, "okay, let's play the psychology in this, and let's give them what they like about each other in the opposite.
" So we obviously gave Bryce t-shirt and jeans, and I gave tarek slacks and a shirt.
And we're dying to know, how was this date? It was great.
Yeah, we had a great-- we had a great time.
Actually, we hit it off.
You did? We did.
We did, we did, we did.
Yay! Was there a kiss on the--on the date? Not yet.
Now, did you want a kiss? Yes.
Oh, do you want to kiss now? All: Aww! Oh, I love it.
Oh, my God, yes.
Oh, my goodness, this is good.
Jay, I'm a huge fan of Heather gray.
To mix it with lilac and the darker gray pant, absolutely brilliant.
I like the juxtaposition of the relaxed look over the more designed details of the jacket.
So many of the men had baggy pants.
Like, these pants are easy and chic.
And, fabio, this is, like, a whole new male silhouette that I think is wearable and really hot.
You know, I got scrubs.
I got hospital scrubs.
But in a good way, 'cause it's interesting.
I want to know more about that designer.
Thank you.
There's fit issues for me.
He doesn't seem really fully comfortable in the clothes.
I don't find it awkward or fit issues or anything, no.
I love this high neck.
It's almost ecclesiastical and nautical.
It's, like, gay priest on a yacht.
It's really-- thank you to everyone, especially our brave first daters.
The judges and I have a lot to talk about, and you guys can wait in the backstage lounge.
We'll call you back out.
Thank you.
Hey.
How did it go? Not so hot.
What'd they say? I guess I just listened to her and didn't put enough of myself in it? I feel like kind of a dope that needs sleep.
Let's start with dmitry and sonjia.
In my opinion, I think that they're probably safe, right? Not high or low? They were right in the middle for me.
I was underwhelmed.
I didn't like the cut-out.
I know you guys liked the cut-out.
I didn't like the cut-out.
If you must do a cut-out, i felt that was an okay way to do it.
Let's set them aside and focus on our favorites.
Michelle? Oh, no, that was, mm.
I really liked it.
I thought that the detail was really interesting.
I think the fit was not-- the fit coupled with, like, the zippers and the buttons all over them, and she was saying, "oh, it's cashmere.
" It didn't look like cashmere.
It looked like cotton knit.
I agree.
There was nothing very exciting.
It was perfectly okay.
It felt a little bit high street.
Let's talk about Jay.
It was a wonderful balance.
He really got his client.
He interjected his DNA into it.
The colors were well-balanced.
It fit well.
And it still had runway appeal, and it was still wearable.
Yes--but it does go a little Boca raton.
You know, it's a little retirement village, let's face it.
But I'm getting a sense of who he is as a person.
Lilac is the new black? Lilac is the new black.
Okay, should we talk about fabio? The fit felt awkward to me.
You guys didn't see that? No, I did, on the shoulder.
I don't mind a fit issue if the silhouette looks great.
Fabio's was the strongest design concept.
Yes.
It was original.
It was fresh for menswear.
Totally, absolutely.
And--and sexy, sexy.
So our least successful designers, you guys just hated Justin's.
Oh.
I just didn't think that there was anything to really hate.
It wasn't offensive, and it wasn't terrible.
That doesn't even belong in a design competition.
No.
He just made a gray shirt that looked bad, and some bad-fitting jeans.
Like, it was really nothing.
He looks like he's sitting in front of a computer in the office.
Sam, her skirt and her crop top? Ugh.
Ugh.
This was really bad, too.
You could see the boob.
It was bad! I wanted to slap her, like-- i don't know, oh, my God.
Boobs.
Well, there's a million great ways to cover up boobs.
Yeah, and then she covered her Booty, too, so there's no boobs and there's no Booty.
It's like, you're going on a date.
Helen, can we agree that that looked like a nightie from the front? It was awful.
She looked like she was, you know, in your state.
Yes.
And she kept talking about the back like it was something fabulous, and it was-- yeah, the back was worse than the front.
It looked like bad clothes from sort of K-Mart.
We have a couple of real misses, here.
Is the competition getting to them? I think what threw them this week is that they had to deal with new people and not models.
Yeah, there's an extra layer of communication that takes place with this, you know? But I think we all know what we're gonna do.
Yes.
Do we all agree? Absolutely.
Agreed.
Let's bring them back out.
Designers, all of your singles loved their looks, and the judges and I now have our final decision.
Designers, one of you is the winner this week and receives the luxury spa date from match.
Com.
Dmitry, sonjia, you're safe.
We'll see you next week.
Both: Thank you.
Thank you.
Nice meeting you.
Michelle, you're safe.
You can leave the runway.
Thanks, guys.
Thank you.
Fabio, Jay, one of you is the winner this week, and that designer is Fabio.
Holy [Bleep.]
, oh, God.
Congratulations.
Thanks, guys.
Congratulations.
You guys obviously helped those boys really hit it off, so well done, both of you.
We'll see you next week.
Thank you.
I've won three challenges, but I know that I can go home at any time.
The level of work here is really, really high.
Fabio won.
Fabio.
Really? Oh, congratulations.
Yup, I thought it was gonna be Jay, too, but.
High five.
Thanks.
Sam, you had a low score, but you're safe.
Thank you.
We'll see you next week.
Thank you.
You can leave the runway.
And that leaves Helen and Justin.
We were unhappy with both of your looks, but at the end of the day, you were successful in creating chemistry with both of your singles.
So We are gonna give you both a second chance.
You are both safe.
Don't get too comfortable.
We're down to the best of the best, and you have to show us that you have what it takes.
We all believe in you guys.
Otherwise, we would have sent someone home.
It's so unlike me to, like, work with someone and just fall flat, and that's really disappointing.
What you both have to realize is as designers, you're gonna have failure.
I have failures.
Sometimes you do your worst collection.
You get killed in the public, killed.
And then the next season, you come back 500 times stronger.
And that's what we want to see from you next week.
Thank you.
Thank you.
I've been in the bottom two weeks in a row.
I'm just gonna have to keep pushing and put the best work i can out there.
What happened? Hey.
So we're both safe.
Oh.
But they were really disappointed in us.
I compromised too much of myself with this challenge, and that wasn't a good look.
You're both safe? That's, like, great news.
I need to stay true to myself.
Why is everybody crying? Right? Hey, today was a good day.
That's good times.
Next on Project Runway: All Stars.
Your challenge is to create elegant resort wear, and you must also design a swimsuit to go under your outfit.
Thank you.
As long as we've got no nipples hanging out, then we're all good.
Nothing fits.
I can't save this dress.
I couldn't deal with it.
Inside, I'm ready to blow up.
This leather yoke, it ruins it.
It bordered on offensive.
That's crazy.
It was, like, instant camel toe.
Oh, boy, Nigel.
