Mistresses (US) s04e10 Episode Script

Confrontations

1 Did you take my advice about online dating? Um, I've chatted with a few guys.
Ooh.
Anyone promising? - There's one.
- How exciting.
Previously on "Mistresses" I look forward to chatting later.
Okay.
Well, now that I've met your daughter, I guess we have to go on a second date.
I guess so.
This place will be big.
This could make you very rich.
You won't be around much longer.
When things get hard, you don't just up and move out.
You work through them.
And if it was just you and me, I would.
You lied to me about Scott.
I guess you're so used to keeping things from me that it doesn't seem wrong anymore.
I just can't believe Marisol's gone.
None of us can.
We were banging on the doors of Heaven before But we didn't have a chance in Hell Still, I tried to save it My soul hit the floor, and it hurt to the core And I didn't have nobody to tell Didn't want to face it Now you're just a scar, a story I tell Such an ugly mark, but I wear it so well Like oh, oh, oh, well Oh, oh, oh, well Now you're just a scar, a time that I fell You looking for this? Yeah.
Thanks.
Like oh, oh, oh well You know, Joss, you don't have to come out here and sleep at night.
Your tossing around won't keep me up.
Yeah, it's just less stressful not having to worry about it.
Okay.
[Inhales deeply.]
I know you need to get to Marisol's funeral, but we really need to talk about what's What's going on here at some point.
So you can yell at me some more about Scott? [Scoffs.]
No, thank you.
You know, I'm not sure how you've turned me into the bad guy here.
You're the one that needs to explain yourself.
There's nothing really to explain, Harry.
I-I-I think we're all talked out, you know? Whoa.
Hey, you okay? Whoa.
[Groans.]
You all right? Yeah.
- Yeah? - Yeah.
Oh, I think I just stood up too fast.
Um, I really need to figure out what to wear to the funeral, so I'm fine.
I am getting so tired of taking all these pills every day.
Well, you have to, and I'm pretty sure they taste better than whatever this is.
April, it's veggie bacon.
Are you sure about that? Because it tastes like masking tape.
- What are you doing? - I have to put some salt on this.
Marc did know how to make a good breakfast.
Pretty much the only thing he contributed around here.
I heard that.
You know, it's good this whole diversion is over.
Marc was not a diversion.
What we had was real.
It hasn't even been a week since it ended.
His stuff is still here.
And I don't know why.
I mean, do you need me to take it to him? He's coming over later to get the rest of it.
Maybe you shouldn't be here for that.
No.
It's my house.
I don't need to run away.
And we can be adults about this, despite what you may think.
[Dog barking in distance.]
I'm sorry it didn't work out with you and Marc.
I am.
If being with him was the right thing, you would still be together, and I would be fine.
[Sighs.]
So, Harry's not going to the funeral with you? Mm, yeah.
No, we're not exactly getting along so well these days after the whole Scott thing.
Mm.
And where's Kate in all this? Oh, she took off to "clear her head," whatever that means.
It's not the most fun place to live, but I'm dealing.
[Clears throat.]
Hey, um, maybe you should write me, uh, a prescription for some of those, um, antianxiety meds.
I don't prescribe for friends, but if you went to one of those therapists I told you about, they might think that would help.
Mm-hmm.
Yeah, yeah.
[Clears throat.]
So, what's, um What's What's going on with you and Mr.
Spin Class? Well, Adam's great.
I've seen him almost every day since we met.
- How's the s-e-x? - Oh, I have no I-d-e-a.
We still haven't got there yet.
What?! Wow! I'm impressed.
Waiting this long for a guy you really like.
Whose idea was that? Mm, it just sort of happened, although he seems to be more in favor of taking things slow.
But things are going well, so I guess it's not that bad to wait.
- Unless - Unless what? Do you think it's weird that he hasn't made a move yet? My gut says it might be weird.
No.
No, no, no.
Definitely do not trust your gut.
When has that ever gotten you anywhere? I mean, look at your track record with men.
I mean, no offense.
Isn't, uh, no sex early on a big red flag? I, uh, heard that once on "Dr.
Phil.
" What would I know? [Chuckles.]
I haven't had a date in a billion years.
I'm gonna go check on Vivian.
Well, she certainly is more comfortable around here these days, isn't she? Hey, Jonathan.
Brought some ideas for the design of the bar.
Check this out.
Harry, there's something else we need to talk about.
The IRS is investigating my company for fraud.
All my assets will be frozen until it's resolved.
That includes the new restaurant.
Okay.
Um, so The plan to start construction next week, is that? It will be put on hold.
Unfortunately, your salary will be deferred, and your 20% investment is also frozen.
Uh Are you serious? I mean [chuckles.]
you do realize that I put my entire future in your hands.
- If this doesn't work out - It will.
I assure you, I've done nothing wrong.
The IRS always goes after successful businesses, and unfortunately, now it's my turn.
[Sighs.]
You do trust me, Harry? - Yeah.
- It's a setback, yes, but I need to know that you are with me.
Of course I am.
[Chuckles.]
Thank you.
Adam: Can I confess something? At the risk of sounding a little sappy, I haven't felt this strongly about someone in a long time.
I feel the same.
Just as sappy.
Is that what I think it is? Is that your new book? - Can I - No way! I'm not showing those pages to anyone until I'm done.
I'm not just anyone.
I'm someone who wants to get to know you better and who loved your first book.
Fine.
One chapter.
But no comments, no input, not a word.
- Deal? - Deal.
Now let's go to lunch.
Let me just text Lydia.
I want to see how Vivian's doing.
What's Lydia's story anyway? - Why? Do you not like her? - She just seems a little quiet.
Oh, she's just shy at first, but she opens up once you get to know her.
[Sighs.]
Hey.
I wasn't expecting you to be home.
I, um, wanted to finish packing your things.
[Keys jingle.]
Thanks for doing that.
Uh, tell Lucy that I'll make plans with her soon.
Ireally want to see her.
I miss her.
Okay.
I know she'd like that.
Go right back home again, oh All right.
I should probably give this back to you now.
To fall out of love with you Tell me what I should do It's all I do Just think about [Sighs.]
You think Jonathan really did something wrong with the IRS? Mate, it is certainly possible.
You warned me.
What if you were right about him all along? Eh, me, I don't know.
What do I know? I only did like three minutes of research online.
What does Joss say? We're not exactly chatting it up at the moment.
I tell you what, if this falls through, I am absolutely screwed.
Mm, like how screwed? Like losing a large amount of money, the best opportunity I've ever had, and, uh, all career momentum.
- Okay, okay, so pretty screwed.
- Yeah.
You know what you need? You need a backup plan.
You know, for backup.
What's your backup plan? Pfft! Me? I don't have one.
Thus crashing at Jonah's in a disgusting, lumpy, old futon.
Yeah.
So, you and April are Yeah, man.
It sucks.
But, you know, I've had some time to think about it now, and yeah, her mom is a real pain in the ass, but [sighs.]
I think the real problem was April.
Really, no offense, but maybe April needs more stability than you can give her right now.
She's got a kid.
She's got a business to run.
Yeah, no, I get that, but it'd still be nice to have her think that I could be a success.
I mean, you think it's possible, right? - Yeah, sure.
- Okay, well, that was convincing.
I think you're talented.
I'm sure April does, too.
You are super-talented, but that doesn't guarantee success, right? Okay, so what are you getting at? So, h-here's what you do.
Ask yourself honestly Are you doing everything it takes Everything to succeed? And if the answer is yes, boom, you're on your way.
[Clicks tongue.]
Lunch truck.
You know we serve food here at the store.
I know.
That's why I brought my own.
And I got all of your favorites.
No dessert, 'cause you have to stay slim and trim.
[Scoffs.]
Mom.
Did you see this? That guy who yelled at me is on page 33, the one who hired you Michael.
Hey, that's the house I was gonna design.
And that is definitely my lamp.
He's cute.
A financial wiz? Honey, why didn't you finish this job? This house is so What? I'm on my break.
Break's over.
So? It just didn't work out.
Oh you got fired.
I did not get fired.
He kissed me, okay? It was just a whole awkward, uncomfortable thing.
Well, now that you're single, you should call him.
[Chuckles.]
It's not that simple.
Well, it seems simple enough to me.
- He's transgender.
- What? - He's transgender.
- What?! Michael is transgender, and he didn't tell me at first, so it just got all weird.
Transgender? Really? - He was a woman? - Yes.
And you knew it, and you still worked with him? Would you lower your voice? There are customers around, and you are being offensive.
I'm being offensive? I mean, what is the world coming to? And please tell me why these people think they can flaunt themselves in front of everybody and we all have to accept it? I mean, you know what? I take back what I said.
I thank God that you got out of this mess.
Okay, stop! You do not have to have an opinion about absolutely everything in my life.
First, Marc, Lucy, now Michael.
I am a judge.
It is my job to have an opinion.
And my opinion is that's unnatural.
[Whispering.]
Quiet.
You are making a scene.
What? [Whispering.]
I'm sorry.
It's L.
A.
Anything goes.
Let's just eat in peace.
[Sighs.]
What do you think? They're nice.
They bring out the color in your eyes.
So, where's Adam taking you to dinner tonight? I think he said Italian.
Oh.
That's nice.
I need a minute alone to finish dressing.
Do you mind? Of course not.
Let me know when Adam gets here.
I will.
Well, it was a really nice service, you know? I didn't know that much about her.
I still can't believe that she's gone.
Well, at least they arrested that scumbag that did it.
Oh, yeah, that reminds me.
The police, they, uh They want to talk to you.
To me? Why? Well, actually, they want to talk to all of us.
They're building their case against Lee, but they're coming up thin on evidence.
They need all the help that they can get.
Yeah, Jackie, I didn't know Marisol all that well.
I don't know what good I would do.
Hey, every bit is useful.
Joss, you know what domestic violence is like.
It's like anything they can do to blame the victim, they'll do.
Hey, Lydia.
Hi, Adam.
- How you doing? - Good, thank you.
Those are beautiful.
- Thank you.
- I'm sure Karen is gonna love them.
Is she ready yet? Uh, she'll be down in a minute.
There you go.
- So cute.
- Nice.
[Laughs.]
Yeah, I'll take those.
Oh, I like your Barcelona shirt.
Oh.
Thanks.
I've never been.
I'm just a big fan.
I lived there for two years, saw a whole bunch of soccer games.
[Chuckles.]
Is the city as romantic as they say? Oh, definitely.
Lydia, I thought you were gonna tell me when Adam got here.
- Hi.
- Hey.
- Mm.
- Oh, sorry.
I was just getting, um, a vase for the flowers.
Good night, Vivian.
All right.
Ready to go? Yeah.
You look amazing, by the way.
Thank you.
[Vivian fusses.]
How you doing? [Door closes.]
You need a little diaper change? Hope you're not getting sick again.
Let's hope that your mommy isn't having that good of a time, because we don't want her finding out what I did, do we? No.
That wouldn't be very good.
Jackie: Okay.
Why haven't you changed yet? Uh, you know, I'm just not in the mood.
Come on.
It'll be good for you.
Uh, I don't I don't think that I can talk to the police about Marisol, Jackie.
It's important, Joss.
- Josslyn Carver - [Handcuffs click.]
you are under arrest for the murder of Luca Raines.
[Camera shutter clicking.]
Look, I You know, I-I told you, right? Sh-Sh-She and I, I don't know, we weren't We weren't close friends.
I only knew her from class, so Look, the more people we get to establish a pattern of abuse, the better.
Will you at least consider it? For me? Please? Yeah, okay.
I'll think about it.
[Cell door slams.]
What? Do I seem like the kind of girl who wants to spend her vacation on a boat the whole time? Well, now that you mention it, I am seeing you a little more room service, Four Seasons, right? Mm! Now you're speaking my language.
[Laughs.]
So, what else should we talk about? Stop it.
I know what you're doing.
I know I said I don't want to talk about the book pages, but I lied.
I do.
I love them.
Really? I thought it all might be a little too dry.
Are you kidding? No.
I want to read more.
Wait.
Are you just being nice because you don't want to hurt my feelings? Uh, I don't think I'm being that nice.
In my opinion, there's only one thing left for you to do.
What? Fall in love with a man who's truly available to you.
But hell, where are you gonna find a guy like that? I want to know more, and I want to move to the next level.
I know you said you wanted to take things slow.
What? I never said anything about wanting to take things slow.
Yeah, you did, when we first started talking.
No.
You must have misunderstood.
You seemed pretty clear.
[Scoffs.]
Trust me, that's not how I feel at all.
Really? So we can agree that we're done taking things slow? I think it could be time to speed things up.
Yes.
- Check, please.
- [Chuckles.]
I'm really sorry about Marisol.
What happened to her is awful.
Ugh! It is.
You know, her boyfriend had been abusing her for a while, but she started taking Jackie's class and finally found the strength to get away from him.
Then, for whatever reason, she let him back into her life, and it all just started over again.
[Sighs.]
Dear God.
And now the police want to talk to all of her friends from class about it, and I so don't want to be involved, April.
It took everything I had to testify against Wilson.
The thought of talking to the cops literally makes my stomach turn.
You don't have to do it, then.
There are lots of other women in the class.
Let one of them talk to the police.
You take care of you.
It's okay.
[Sighs.]
Thank you.
Oh, I'm sorry.
I didn't even ask you What's going on with Marc? - [Groans.]
Nothing good.
- Mm.
He, um, gave back his keys and moved out.
Wow.
I-I can't believe it's actually over.
Neither can I.
I really can't think about it right now.
The only person who seems happy about this is my mother.
Ha I doubt that she's happy.
She keeps saying it's not about Marc, but then she spends most of her time badmouthing him to me, even though we've broken up.
And then today, she kept making bigoted comments about Michael.
- The transgender guy? - Yeah.
It's a long story.
Anyway, she is driving me crazy.
I really can't keep fighting with her or trying to keep her sober so she can eventually get a transplant.
So have a conversation with her.
You've met my mother.
Seriously, it's easier said than done.
April, look, no offense, but you really need to cowboy up here.
Okay, you can't live in fear of your mother.
You're a grown-ass woman! She's not gonna send you to your room.
I know she's sick, and I know that she's tough, but you don't let anyone else walk all over you.
Is this really the example you want to be setting for Lucy? I don't think so.
[Sighs.]
We should go back to my place, right? Since, you know, um, going back to your place might be a little weird with the baby and all.
Right.
Let me just call Lydia and make sure she can stay longer.
Okay.
I'll go check on the Uber.
[Cellphone rings.]
Hey.
Is everything okay? Yeah, everything's great.
Vivian's asleep.
I want to ask a favor.
Uh, would you mind staying for a few more hours? I want to spend some more time with Adam.
Uh, n-no, I can't.
I have plans.
Oh.
Could you possibly change them? No, I'm sorry.
I c I can't.
Okay, then.
I'll be home soon.
Okay.
Okay.
Are you ready? Um, I'm so sorry.
Uh, she can't stay.
Uh no problem.
How about dinner this weekend? I'll cook for you.
I'd love that.
[Door closes.]
- Hey.
- Hey.
- How was the funeral? - It was It was nice.
It was awful.
It was a little bit of both, I guess.
And now the, um The the cops want to talk to everyone about what happened to Marisol, so Yeah, well, that makes sense.
Just do what you can to help, right? Yeah.
You, uh You want something to eat? I've got some Oh, no.
No.
I'm zonked.
How was your day? Yeah, it was fine.
Are you sure you're all right? Yeah, I'm fine.
I mean, it's just, you know, work and life.
[Chuckles.]
Had some wine at April's, but I'm just exhausted.
[Chuckles.]
So I'm gonna go have a-a shower.
Got a feeling that it's gonna be a real good night Gonna turn it up and take a real long ride I'm gonna make your world spin 'round and 'round Hold it, you guys, for a second.
Guys, guys.
Guys, can I get your attention for one second, if we can just gather around? What's up? Um, so, listen, I've been doing some thinking, and, uh, I mean, it's time that we get real and we start to focus.
You know, all this time, we've had two gigs I mean, two! And one of them we had to pay for.
And if we're just for fun, we can do it at a karaoke bar.
Uh, just settle down, man.
You need to chill.
I don't need to chill, Jonah.
We've been chilling enough, guys.
That's the last thing we need to do.
Guys, this is do-or-die for us.
If we want people to believe in us, then we need to believe in ourselves.
We've been letting the drama get in the way of making great music.
Now, I know I didn't I didn't start this band, but I gave up the best thing [chuckles.]
in my life to try and And make this thing work.
What have any of you given up? I just don't want to end up regretting the choice that I made.
So, Jonah, come on, enough with the carpal tunnel thing.
Hey, man, it's real, all right? I live with chronic discomfort every day.
Hey, I get it, and And we all have something.
But, guys, we can't half-ass this anymore.
If we're gonna make music let's make music! Let's do this thing, huh?! - All right.
- Come on.
Yeah! Okay.
Awesome speech.
Well They needed to hear that.
[Chuckles.]
You okay? Yeah.
[Sighs.]
- [Door opens.]
- Harry, it's nice to see you.
Would you like some coffee or tea? No, thanks, Elliott.
Um, I'm fine.
So, what have you found out about my deal with Jonathan? Is getting out an option? Because [chuckles.]
I'm officially worried.
I've gone over the paperwork, and if Jonathan stops paying you, we can sue for breach of contract and get you out.
But it might be a fight to get your 20% stake before the IRS got it.
Oh, uh, I'm not interested in suing anybody.
I mean, I don't have the money for that kind of prolonged legal fight.
What else is there? I suggest you wait them out.
If Jonathan's clean, we go back to normal.
If not, the law's on our side, and we'll deal with that then.
That could take months and months to play out, right? I mean [chuckles.]
I don't have that kind of time.
This is my life we're talking about.
I don't know what you want me to say, Harry.
You're in a bad spot.
Okay.
All right, look.
[Sighs.]
At one point, the Food Network had interest in a second season of my show, right? They wanted to do a making-of-a-restaurant type deal, but this Jonathan project pushed that aside.
- Okay.
- So here's what I want you to do.
Call whoever you made the last deal with over there and see if we could work something out.
Need to know there's something in the pipeline before I make any moves.
Harry, this seems like a long shot.
And how are you gonna deal with the Jonathan issue? There's no issue, all right? I'm not saying make a deal.
Just find out, all right? My whole future's on hold here, and I need a backup plan.
Let me see what I can find out.
I told Lucy that maybe I'd take her and Noel to the movies, but I'll sit in between them.
[Chuckles.]
Okay.
We need to talk.
About what? About your attitude.
Excuse me? Oh, this isn't about that transgender thing? Yes, and about Marc, too.
When you say things like you said yesterday, people are gonna think that you're not a tolerant person.
What did I say that was so bad? You stopped working with him, so obviously you feel the same way about those people.
No, I don't.
Would you please not talk that way around Lucy? We try not to think that way around here.
You know, that's your whole problem.
You either think too much or not at all.
That's not how I raised you.
I thought you raised me to be tolerant of others.
I raised you to be a proud black Christian woman.
Not running around with people who have none of the values you grew up with.
Living with a Peter Pan white boy like Marc who can barely provide.
Whoa, whoa, I thought this wasn't about Marc.
Of course it's about Marc, and it's about you.
All sorts of men trouncing in and out of your life and Lucy's? I mean, who made all of these choices, April? You did.
Exactly! They are my choices, not yours, and you seem to have no patience for anyone who doesn't fit your idea of what's right.
At least I know who I am and I can face it.
And your life is never gonna start getting better until you can do the same.
Look, Mom, I know you told Marc that you were gonna get him out of this house, and somehow you did it.
So be happy, okay? You won.
[Knock on door.]
Harry.
Jonathan, hey.
Uh [chuckles.]
this is a surprise.
I wanted to chat in person.
Is, um, Joss home? Uh, no, she's out.
I know she wouldn't be thrilled if I was here.
Yeah, um - Oh, hey, come in, please.
Come in.
- Thank you.
Me I don't know how you were raised, but I was raised to be a certain way, and I am starting to worry that it's affecting everything in my life.
Everything? As in what exactly? My relationships, my my parenting.
Do I seem intolerant to you? - Do you seem what now? - Intolerant.
Do I act like I'm better than you or anyone else? Because, clearly, that's how my mother is.
Well, you've been nothing but nice to me, but I can be extremely likeable.
[Chuckles.]
Look, you can be a tough boss, but I don't think that has anything to do with me being gay.
It's probably more about me breaking stuff.
Yeah, you're right about that.
Of course, it's possible deep down you're a little intolerant.
But isn't everybody? For example, I cannot watch old people eat.
The way they [munching.]
It's so upsetting.
It gives me nightmares.
[Sighs.]
I just I can't stop thinking about what I said to Michael.
Page 33? The trans guy? Thanks to my mom, I'm starting to see that I may have hurt him, and I just I don't know what to do about it.
You can do whatever you want.
Just 'cause your mom thinks she's too good for people doesn't mean you have to agree.
And I'm not just talking about Michael anymore.
Y-You know I'm talking about Marc? You got that? Right, okay.
[Both chuckle.]
You-oo-oo-oooh Got me in the palm of your hand Oo-oo-oo-oooooh What's wrong? Did I mess something up? No.
No, no, no, no.
It just pisses me off that they couldn't hang out for one more hour to try to get this right.
[Sighs.]
I guess the beach was more important.
[Chuckles.]
Obviously, my big speech had a real impact on everyone.
Look, they are who they are, and we are who we are.
We've always had more passion.
Even when we first met in Florida, we both knew what we wanted from the start.
Yeah, but knowing what you want and getting it are two different things.
Just so easy to get sidetracked, and then, all of a sudden, everything's all screwed up.
You have been through a lot lately.
You've made a lot of changes, but I know they are going to pay off for you big time.
I know you have what it takes.
I just got to get them on the same page.
You may not be able to.
And at some point, you may need to think about going out on your own.
Take a different road to success.
[Sighs.]
Look, there is no crime in admitting the obvious.
You're better than those guys.
They know it.
You know it.
And I know it.
[Grunting.]
Hey.
Hey.
So, um I've given it a lot of thought, and I don't I don't want to talk to the police.
Look, the other girls can tell the police just as much, and Lee's already in jail and he's not going anywhere, Jackie.
You're afraid.
I get it.
I do know what that's like.
Look, when I was 14, my parents threw me out of the house.
My first night alone, I crashed on a friend's couch.
I'd never been more afraid in my life.
I mean, I didn't know how I was gonna survive.
Not that night or every day after that.
But I did.
I fought my fear, and I got on with it.
And I learned that I am so much stronger than I thought I was.
And so are you.
I'm just not there yet.
I'm not feeling any better.
I'm actually feeling worse.
You know, I'm I'm I'm still having freaking flashbacks.
I-I-I'm No, I'm not sleeping.
Things are awful with Harry.
We can deal with all of that here.
You're not hearing me, Jackie! It's I-It's not just the police.
It's this place.
It's It's It's not working.
I need a break, okay? - Hey, Karen.
- Hey.
I picked up some fruit at the farmer's market.
So, how was last night? Did you have a date? Of course not.
When was the last time I had a date? But you said you had plans.
I did.
To go home after a long day at work and relax.
- What? - I can't just reschedule my life because you're out doing whatever.
I wasn't doing whatever.
I was on a date.
And how was it? Because I don't get a good vibe from that guy.
- I mean, maybe it's just me.
- I know we've become closer, Lydia, but my personal relationships are absolutely none of your business, and I'd appreciate it if you be more clear about your plans if you can't be here to help out.
I have a patient to get to.
But we're clear, right? Of course.
Totally.
So, how much longer does the IRS need? Well, you know how the government is.
They won't say.
Auditors at the office all week.
It's nice just to have a drink with a friend.
And I do consider you a friend, Harry.
[Glasses clink.]
I know it hasn't been easy for you.
Thanks, Jonathan.
I appreciate it.
And you know what? When the dust settles, I'm sure everything is gonna be okay, right? Well, I already have friends who are not returning my phone calls.
I guess we can expect loyalty only for so long.
Do you believe in karma, Harry? Uh, I'm not really sure.
Depends on the situation, I guess.
Why? I'm worried this is what's happening here.
When I was growing my business, I sometimes saw opportunities where others didn't, and I took it.
That's what building a business is all about, right? Perhaps.
But I was greedy at times.
I chose the deal over the person.
But I had to.
I had to look out for myself and my family.
No one was going to hand me anything.
Hey, you make your own success.
True.
Although, there are no guarantees, my friend [Chuckles.]
even when it seems there are.
- How can I help you? - Hi.
Um I, uh, need to fill this prescription.
Okay, this should take about 10 minutes.
Do you want to come back or wait? Oh, no, I'll wait.
That's fine.
Oh, Miss Carver? I assume Dr.
Kim has explained how this drug works? Yeah.
Yeah, I got it.
No worries.
Okay, thanks.
Lydia, I've been thinking all day about our conversation earlier today, and Look, you can fire me if you want, but can I just explain? Um Look, the thing is is, um I have a really hard time meeting people.
Remember that guy I told you about online? Well, it didn't work out, and I guess I was just jealous that you and Adam had met so easily and And got along so well.
Adam and I don't really know each other that well yet.
Still, I shouldn't have said those things.
I'm really sorry.
[Sighs.]
Okay, look.
We can move past this now.
I understand how you felt.
Thanks.
That means the world to me.
Are you okay? Yeah.
Yeah, I'm good.
So, I talked to the Food Network.
There's definitely interest in another season.
- Great.
- But before you go any further, I think you should run it by Jonathan first.
That's not happening.
There's no firm offer yet, right? And he won't find anything out because you are very discreet.
Have you thought about how this could play out? Yes, and this IRS thing is not going away, at least not for a while, so I want you to do whatever it takes to get me out of my contract.
I need to protect myself.
Jonathan's not a man you want to piss off.
Please, Jonathan's a big boy.
He'll understand.
And he would do exactly the same thing.
There's an opportunity here, and I need to take it.
I mean, that's what businessmen do, right? But what if nothing happens with the IRS, Harry? I have worked too hard to risk my career and hope this guy's never done anything illegal, so get me the offer, then I'll talk to Jonathan.
I'd feel much more comfortable, Harry, if you slept on Why do you keep questioning me, Eliot? This is what I want.
You work for me.
Make it happen! [Television playing.]
[Sighs.]
We need to talk.
- [Television shuts off.]
- No.
Oh, my God, aren't we done talking by now? I just got off the phone with Aunt Molly, and she's agreed to take you in while you get well and wait for the transplant.
What in the world are you talking about? This is all because of one argument? No.
And I have given it a lot of thought, and I think it's best for us.
Best for us or for you? I have finally realized that you're one of the reasons Marc and I are in this place.
This need that I have to control everything and everyone around me, I get that from you.
So I'm to blame for all of your problems? Right.
You know what? That's typical! No, I am to blame.
I take full responsibility for my decisions.
And maybe Marc is wrong for me.
Maybe he's not, but I can't figure it out when you're around.
I love you, and I want you to be healthy and sober, but we can't keep doing this.
I need to be apart now.
I don't want you out of my life.
[Voice breaking.]
Just out of my house.
- [Sighs.]
- [Cellphone vibrates.]
Hello? Joss.
Um, it's Jackie.
Listen, I have some news that I thought you should know.
Oh, what happened? Is everything all right? Lee, you know, Marisol's boyfriend? They set his bail hearing for tomorrow, and from what I've heard, I have a bad feeling about this case.
What have you heard? They are setting his bail pretty low, and he'll be back on the streets tomorrow.
Wh How is that possible? We all know what he did.
Like I told you, these guys get away with this crap one way or another.
Please, Wilson.
You don't have to do this, please.
[Grunts.]
[Voice breaking.]
This is insanity.
It's just not right.
Yeah.
I know.
All's good with Vivian.
She had her bath, and she's down for the night.
- You need any help here? - No, I've got it under control.
Table looks beautiful.
Mm.
Not too much? No, no, it's perfect.
Have fun.
I'll see you Monday.
Karen? Um, I just wanted to say thank you for giving me a second chance.
Of course.
Night, Lydia.
- Oh.
- [Gasps.]
- Sorry.
- Sorry.
My fault.
Hi.
Good night.
Good night.
- Hey, there.
- Hey.
Mmm.
[Door closes.]
Oh, wow.
- That's lovely.
- [Chuckles.]
- Should I open the wine? - Absolutely.
Dinner won't be ready for another 45 minutes.
We can relax and get drunk.
In reverse order.
I was hoping we could have an appetizer first.
Oh.
I could think of several delicious options you might enjoy.
Good, 'cause I'm really hungry.
This is what I'm dyin' to do Mm, me too.
Come here, baby, I'm ready to touch you Listen, baby, nothing's too much when I'm ready to play I'm ready to play Come here, baby, whisper in your ear Tell you how I'm about to make you feel I'm ready to play You okay? Yeah, I'm fine.
I was just trying to write to Michael to apologize, but it feels so lame.
I just wanted to apologize and tell him I hoped we could be friends.
But what if it just makes everything worse? I can't deal with him rejecting me again.
Well, didn't you reject him? Yeah, I did, but then he rejected me.
It was a dual rejection.
Look, send him the e-mail.
It's nice.
What's the worst that happens? He cannot not talk to you even more.
[Chuckles.]
Yeah, you're right.
- [Beep.]
- Sent.
Too late to change my mind now.
What'd you decide to do about Marc? [Clicks tongue.]
I don't even know.
Wow, you have more boy troubles than I do.
- [Sighs.]
- One piece of advice With Marc, I think sending an e-mail may be a little impersonal considering you guys were together for over a year.
Thanks.
[Sighs.]
Hey, Marc, it's April.
I'd like to talk if you get a chance.
[Laughs.]
Man, hands down, best concert I've seen since Black Crowes, Wiltern Theater, 2013.
Oh, my Lord! Oh, it was so inspiring.
That that passion, that energy, when it all comes together like that on stage.
- Oh, my - That's it.
It settles it.
I'm doing it.
I made up my mind.
- Doing what? - You were right the other day.
I'm leaving the band and I'm doing my own thing.
Oh, I am so proud of you.
And I want you to do it with me.
What? - Are you serious? - Damn right I am.
We are so good together, Sofia.
We got to give it a shot.
You in? Hell, yeah.
[Chuckles.]
Mm.
Sofia, wait.
I just I just broke up.
You know this, right? Oh, of course I know.
No pressure.
All right, I screwed up things with us the first time.
I don't want to do that again.
I'm willing to wait, okay? I This doesn't have to go past tonight if you don't want it to.
Let's not talk about that right now.
Karen? Karen? I forgot my phone.
[Heavy breathing, moaning.]
Yeah I been comin 'round Hopin' for the sound of yeah Yeah Don't shoot me down, put me in the ground Say yeah [Gun cocks.]
Aah! [Gasps.]
[Breathing heavily.]
You okay? Not really.
Just I can't I can't sleep.
Feel like I'm I'm wired or something.
Be right back.
[Exhales sharply.]
They're not there.
I assume you were looking for these.
[Pills rattle.]
