Project Runway: All Stars (2012) s04e10 Episode Script
Versatile Tops and Bottoms
Previously on Project Runway: All Stars This week, choose your own underwater life form for inspiration.
This is the avant-garde challenge.
Oh, [Bleep.]
.
I did not so hot last season on my avant-garde challenge.
I want to show the judges that I'm gonna take any risk i need to, to win this entire competition.
All: Oh! Helen, are you okay? This is scary.
[Squealing.]
I don't really know what's going on with Justin.
He seems just not his spirited self.
You just haven't won.
It's a matter of opinion.
No, you need a win.
This is so beautiful.
You had an emotional connection there, and it tells a story.
Dmitry, there's something incredible about this length.
It should be your modus operandi.
The winner this week is dmitry.
I don't think this is your strongest week.
Think here your proportions are just a touch off.
The silhouette is just off, and it's kind of, like, upsetting.
The eliminated designer is Justin.
This is Project Runway: All Stars.
Aw.
Aw.
Hello, all-stars.
Hi.
Fashion is big business in New York, and nasdaq's the second largest stock exchange in the world.
So this week's challenge is all business.
We're partnering with a company that is publicly traded on the nasdaq, QVC.
Oh.
QVC is super major.
I mean, who doesn't know QVC? Please welcome to the runway Lisa Robertson.
[Applause.]
Okay.
Living it.
Cute.
Welcome.
Thank you, thank you.
Tell us about the challenge.
The gili line on QVC reflects QVC's values of quality, value, and convenience.
This week, we want you to design two separates that work together as an outfit and can also be worn separately with other garments.
It is a separates challenge.
I feel like I could win this challenge.
I love making separates.
And now, because we're getting down to the best of the best, we're throwing in an All Stars twist.
We also want you to create a fashion-forward version of your look for a second model to walk down the runway with.
No pressure.
There is a huge prize up for grabs this week.
Okay, Lisa.
Well, QVC will manufacture one of the separates that you design and sell it as part of the gili line on QVC.
That's cool.
I'm so excited about this opportunity to be able to have that many people see my stuff and hopefully want to purchase it.
It's awesome.
You have a budget of $300 each for both looks.
And one more thing, I will be joined by Zanna, Isaac, and Georgina to ring nasdaq's closing bell.
Nice.
It's exciting.
This is one of the biggest stock exchanges in the world, and fashion as a business is one of the biggest in New York.
So I feel like it's the perfect event for a challenge that's all about business.
Good luck, everybody.
Thank you.
Good luck.
Three pieces.
Two models.
One day.
Let's sketch.
Partnering with a company like QVC takes you to the next level, but it's important to adapt to that market.
Ready-to-wear and fashion-forward, right? Those were the words that were said? Both: Yep.
This week, there is no more safe.
There's six people, so you're gonna have three people on the top, and three people on the bottom.
Fashion as a business is really tricky.
These people are gonna be flipping through channels, and our job is to make them want something they hadn't ever thought about before.
My ready-to-wear design kind of spooks me a little because I don't usually do separates.
I don't even really do ready-to-wear.
But I don't want to be pinned as, like, the evening wear designer.
This is a really good opportunity for me to, like, take a risk.
So I'm taking the classic button-down and skirt, but then making something more flirty and fun, and for my high-fashion look, I'm doing a black fitted dress with a cape effect in the back.
I know what women want to wear from a size 0 to a size 24.
For my separates, I am sketching a skirt that's really flattering to most body types and a blouse to go with, and for my fashion-forward look, I'm using some elements in the toned-down version, but lots of volume.
I have a lot of stuff in my mind right now because I really need to take the over-designing into consideration.
That's feedback that I constantly get from the judges.
There are six of us left.
I really have to simplify and potentially change my way of thinking to win this challenge.
Okay.
All right.
Hi, swatch.
Everything just seems way too much.
I find this print that kind of looked like the splatter effect that I want to do, but it's not really the right colors.
So what I'm gonna do is grab a couple of dyes and make my own fabric.
Thank you so much.
I'm looking for something that has a little sunshine, a lot of life, and I find exactly what I'm looking for.
It'll just be super charming.
Four yards of this, and I'll be back for it.
Speak to me.
My mind being free and flexible is the most important part of my design process.
Is it QVC enough? I don't like to, like, "this is the sketch.
It has to look just like this.
" Ooh, this is kind of cool.
When you're at mood, you can't just depend on, like, "hoping the fabric talks to you" when you get there.
Just, like, I don't know, get your [Bleep.]
straight.
I don't know what I'm grabbing.
I think I like this.
I should have come up with a strong point of view before coming here.
I'll do, um, two yards.
That's time, guys.
Holy [Bleep.]
, holy [Bleep.]
.
So my strategy is to just buy a whole bunch of stuff and figure it out.
All: Thank you, mood! The front will be one color, and the back will be in another color.
That's kind of cool.
Mm-hmm.
I think a lot of women are gonna want this print.
What I want to do is make sure that every walk of life can wear it.
Oh, that's cute.
The only thing that I'm concerned about is the print.
Prints are hard because some people don't respond to prints well.
Did you get pink dye? Yeah, kind of.
We have pink again.
The reason for me to dye this fabric is to create a textile that's my own.
You can't find this anywhere, and if you're speaking of something that is fashion-forward, it's obviously an idea that you haven't seen before.
So I just need to keep in mind that the process is not done with dyeing.
I still have to construct this perfectly.
I want to make a vest and a pant look.
And then she's gonna have a striped top.
That's too many pieces.
You can only do two.
Okay.
I mean, if anything, I was thinking of making a jacket and a pant out of this, like a vest and a pant and a, like, a simple top.
Two, honey, not three.
Stop saying--where is this third piece coming from? So I think the difference between Jay and I is, he has an idea and works through his thoughts to either keep that idea or change it.
I don't have no idea at all.
You still gonna use the eyelet? No.
At all? Nope.
It's so pretty, though.
It is pretty.
It's gorgeous, but it's-- put it with this.
I have this beautiful gray eyelet fabric, and I don't know.
Honestly, that--I'm sorry, I just thought of something in my mind that I might change my whole look, my whole ready-to-wear look.
I actually like this now.
Yeah, I think it's good.
Me love you long time.
[Laughs.]
Which outfit is that? Good question.
Ready-to-wear.
For this challenge, I am making a suit for my separates.
It's wearable, and hopefully it's sellable.
So I'm making this wrap jacket out of bright blue neoprene that I love.
In a way, it's very conservative, but it's very fashion-forward.
I'm, like, way too into, like, fitted, fitted, fitted, fitted.
And now I'm, like, that's not QVC.
I've always thought that Helen's demise was gonna be ready-to-wear, 'cause not everyone can afford a $5,000 gown from Helen, but lots of people would love if she could kind of convert that into ready-to-wear.
I just--I haven't seen it yet.
When you're a high-end designer trying to do ready-to-wear, you feel kind of pulled one way and the other.
I don't know, I'm in, like, this, like, fashion purgatory right now.
Ugh.
My fabric is dry.
Love it, 'cause the colors are really well-tamed, and I had enough yardage to drape the actual dress on the mannequin.
So I know where everything's gonna lay.
It's just a matter of putting it together.
Silk taffeta.
I have to make another piece, which is a fashion-forward piece that relates back to our ready-to-wear piece, and I want to make something really bold.
The whole fashion-forward look is all about this red fabric that I found at mood.
I've never worked with red before, but now I have to somehow incorporate that red design aesthetic for my ready-to-wear look.
I don't know what this top looks like yet for my ready-to-wear, but it's going to complement a pair of structured pants.
Mm! Oh, hey, girl.
Hi, designers.
Hi.
So we're getting down to business today, I hear.
This is really your chance to show the judges how you can be a commercial success.
You have the ready-to-wear, and then you have a fashion-forward idea.
I'm super excited to see what we're gonna do.
Congratulations.
Last week's win! Thank you.
Okay, so we're going to do it again.
What are we doing? I'm making this kind of wrap jacket and a high-waisted skirt, and then I will probably play with some lace with it.
Dmitry, this is quite extreme for a general QVC, everyday woman look.
And I don't know who's ready to wear neoprene.
I just don't.
If you're gonna keep this this way, you're really gonna have to push your fashion-forward look.
Yeah.
Hi, Michelle.
Hi.
Tell me you're making a massive commercial success.
I am.
I'm doing a blouse and a skirt separates, but they are using the same materials.
What will this one be with? It will be with a kind of a faux wrap skirt Oh.
And blocked in the opposite of what I have here.
So the white will be through the center panel here, and then the red will be on the outside, making her look even slimmer.
If you can add any single bit more versatility to these looks, then do it.
So tell me about your fashion-forward look.
I was looking to do this, but super, super huge sleeves and paired with a swimsuit hot pant.
I just don't want it to look tacky.
No cheeks on the runway, promise me that.
I promise.
So this is gonna be a top and a skirt.
I don't want any skin showing, so it'll meet, like, right here.
What are you doing with this yellow? I don't know.
I'm very, kind of, on the fence with my fashion-forward look.
You didn't sketch this one.
No.
Of course you didn't.
Here's my thing.
From you, I've seen a lot of pencil skirts.
I just don't want the judges to have a reason to say, "can't she do anything else?" Don't pay any attention to this, because this is not actually the top, it's just a mock-up.
I'm glad you said that, 'cause it looks very simple.
I know, it is very simple.
I really like the idea of this skort, but then done in, like, this really, really beautiful silk wool.
And this is just the mock-up of my fashion-forward.
Okay, and what's this gonna be? Is this gonna be white? No, I actually painted fabric.
I'm glad.
We're not going into bridal.
No, not at all.
Quite the opposite.
You just made this? I did, this morning.
Wow.
If you go for your own print, it has to be competitive with what's out there, but it just looks so immature.
I can see what you're gonna do, but it feels a little bit simplistic still.
I also have some powder blue leather, and I was just maybe gonna cut the same top out of this, 'cause then I feel like the colors co-relate much better.
So this will be my separates.
I just really love this color combination.
I love that color combination, and every reader of Marie clairwould love that, and I know every viewer of QVC.
And when I think of, like, my separates girl, it's, like, this is her during the day, and this would be her, very ambitious, during the night.
The thing is about this little lady, be careful not to go too morticia.
Yeah.
All right, thank you.
Good luck.
Hi, Jay.
Hi.
What are we doing? Ready-to-wear.
I found this fabric.
It's vinyl-covered wool.
Wow.
I like the idea of pants and a top, great.
This fabric isn't necessarily that wearable.
I think he took a tablecloth and then turned it into some pants, which is really great when you're eating ribs, but I don't know if you're gonna want to really wear those.
Tell me what you're doing for your fashion-forward look.
I was thinking of doing this top-but-not-really-a-top back to a pair of high-waisted pants.
Okay, here's my thinking.
The sketch is a bit more wearable than your separates look.
Think mass.
Okay.
Think broad.
That's all I need to say.
Thank you.
Good luck.
Thank you.
Okay, all-stars.
There's definitely some good work in here.
I want you to really focus on the difference between art and commerce, and I want them both, not necessarily in the same look.
This is the QVC challenge, so use that wall of accessories wisely.
I know what time it is, and I've got to go meet Alyssa at Times Square to ring the bell at the nasdaq.
How exciting.
All right, guys, I'll see you there in a bit.
All: Bye.
Jay, are you okay? I am.
I think I'm gonna move on to something fun, like my fashion-forward.
I always feel like, do what you know you want to do.
Yeah.
I'm gonna drape the skirt.
I feel like it's easier to translate a fashion-forward look down to a ready-to-wear piece.
So that's my strategy.
The bell rings at 4:00, so we got to-- we better get down to the get-down.
I still have to make the top, I have to finish the skirt, and I have to create a second look for my fashion-forward look.
So I basically have everything to do.
I got [Bleep.]
to do.
That's time, guys.
We're going to Times Square.
Let's do it.
Going to the nasdaq.
We are headed to the nasdaq stock exchange to see Isaac, Georgina, Alyssa, and Zanna ring the closing bell.
Let's close this bell.
Ring the closing bell at nasdaq, it's kind of a big deal.
Oh, my God, look! Oh, my God! [All cheering, chattering.]
Look at it! Holy [Bleep.]
, what? Like, it's so big.
It's so, like, bam! [Whooping.]
Oh, my God.
And it's my pleasure.
Please join in welcoming Alyssa Milano, Isaac Mizrahi All: Oh, my God! Whoo! Thank you! Thank you! Get it, girl! Oh, she's so cute.
Good afternoon, everyone.
On behalf of Project Runway: All Stars, i am honored to be invited to ring nasdaq's closing bell, live, in Times Square today.
Oh, my God.
It's like new year's.
All: Five, four, three, two, one, whoo! Nasdaq is the place for business, which is the perfect place for this challenge, 'cause this is the business challenge.
To see nasdaq recognizing Project Runway: All Stars, it's just a big moment for All Stars and for us as designers.
This is a pretty big deal.
Back to work.
For my fashion-forward look, time is a big concern.
All these asymmetrical cuts, and plus I'm working with lace, and lace requires a lot of hand stitching.
I never really do something extremely simple, because why? Hello.
Hi.
Sonjia, nice to meet you.
Nice to meet you.
I'm gonna try this on you.
The fabric is just gorgeous, and you're gonna look stunning in it.
I step into it? From the head.
Oh.
Yeah.
Crazy fitting today.
We have two models and not a lot of time.
Wait, you're stuck.
The first time I'm working with her, so I'm really concerned if it falls right for her body.
And thank God, it looks amazing.
And for my ready-to-wear look, i fit the shorts.
They look amazing.
Yep.
You got a little bit of Booty.
Thank you.
That's my girl.
Put your hands in your pocket.
I have a pair of pants that's almost finished, and a skirt, and potentially a cute little top.
It's gonna be in the striped fabric.
I'm feeling really good.
It's cool, right? So many things to do.
Oh, my goodness.
I don't have enough.
So for my fashion-forward look, the dress does not really fit well.
I'm going to do extension.
So I have to open the shoulder and put the insert to make it fit better.
And usually I leave such big seam allowances, and this time, I didn't.
How crazy, huh? Bye, see you tomorrow.
Bye, ladies.
I'll see you tomorrow.
I really don't know what this dress is gonna look like, which isn't surprising, 'cause i never know what my things are gonna look like till I start working on them.
But this time, i really don't know.
So I decide to yolo this dress, and I literally just cut it out.
No measurement, i just cut it out.
And voila.
Whoa.
We have an amazing dress.
I love the neck.
One of the biggest connections I feel like I could actually do is manipulate the yellow fabric to look like the gray fabric.
All right, I got a lot of [Bleep.]
to do now, 'cause-- you're gonna be cutting squares.
I've got to cut some squares.
Sonjia's dress, i have no opinion on because it was literally, like, a yellow tube with cutouts and a funnel neck.
These squares, up close, look real shady.
But from afar, they look good.
I wouldn't be caught dead in a million years designing something like that.
It makes me crazy.
It's--fundamentals.
Helen, girl, focus on your own work.
I really like that red top.
I hate this top.
I'm not a skirt and a top guy, so it's not exuding my aesthetic as a designer.
Not happy with this.
Um, that's time, guys.
So I'm a little concerned and nervous.
I don't really know what to do.
It didn't get made while we were gone.
It's still yellow! Let's start a new top.
Why am I doing this? It's morning of the runway, and I've decided to scrap the skirt and the top look.
I'm gonna do a v neck.
I have two hours to finish a whole entire ready-to-wear look.
Calm down and be normal.
Be normal, yes.
I love Jay.
I trust his judgment.
He has enough pieces to make a collection at this point, so I guess it's just up to him to decide which piece he wants her to wear.
Why everything so rushed today? Models are coming in.
Group hug.
Holy [Bleep.]
.
Keep going, keep going, and you're done.
So we're gonna try everything on.
I absolutely see my suit being sold on QVC.
It's made out of neoprene.
It's a beautiful color, beautiful cut.
Why not? Oh, my God, beautiful.
Yeah, the midwest housewife is gonna wear a neoprene street-fighter wetsuit with lace applique.
Beautiful.
Welcome to the chi salon.
I really just want to flatten her hair and part it in the middle.
We've got our chi smart titanium iron, so it's gonna really make that very sleek.
I want her when she's walking down the runway to just bounce.
So use a little bit of our root lift.
It's gonna help those curls have a nice form.
And we'll make it bouncy, beautiful, runway-ready.
I take my models to the Mary Kay design studio.
I was thinking to play with the eye shadow.
Got this gorgeous Violet storm.
And for your high-fashion look, we're gonna use iced cocoa.
Up the ante.
I was thinking a really deep reddish purple on the lip.
How about downtown brown? Really deep, deep lip.
Deep, deep color.
Yes, exactly.
Am I ever gonna be finished with this? I feel better about it.
Right? I'm putting in the last stitch on my whole new top, and I'm so thankful that I got this done before the runway show.
Yes! I'm much more proud of it.
It's more me.
Guys, we're out in five.
I don't know if I like hands in pockets while walking.
Helen's ready-to-wear look is a little on the juniors side.
I can't picture an adult woman wearing that.
Serving it.
Yellow and gray? Are you, like, designing for my grandmother? So ugly.
Which one? Accessories are really important at this point.
So from the QVC wall, I'm going to use a red bag for my ready-to-wear look.
Kind of like-- okay.
Turn around.
I feel like at this point i have a really good balance between a fashion-forward and a commercial product.
It's absolutely amazing.
we're golden I love fabio's fashion-forward look.
It totally fits his aesthetic.
I'm a little confused by his ready-to-wear.
He's making this girl look like a 1930s schoolboy.
I think he's in trouble.
All right, guys.
It's runway time.
Let's go.
Let's go, ladies.
Go ahead, ladies.
The winner of Project Runway: All Stars will be given the chance to create their own capsule collection with QVC and will appear on QVC's spring fashion week, a fashion spread in Marie Claire, and a position at the magazine as contributing editor for one year.
Chi hair care will send the winner to stay in a luxury spa resort as a special guest at their international conference in Cancun, Mexico, plus product and style for an entire year of runway shows.
From Mary Kay, an entire year's worth of beauty products for their fashion shows and professional makeup artist services for their debut show.
And from Brother Sewing and embroidery, a complete sewing and crafting studio to launch their line, and $150,000 in cash.
Oh, she's pregnant.
I forgot to mention.
Hello, all-stars.
Hi.
This week, we tested all of your design skills to show us your versatility.
Your challenge was to create a look featuring two separates plus a fashion-forward version of your look for a second model to walk the runway.
Let's meet our judges.
First, cofounder and designer of luxury brand Marchesa, Georgina Chapman.
Hi, designers.
Next, one of the most iconic names in fashion, Isaac Mizrahi.
Hi, kids.
Our first guest judge kicked off your challenge with me right here on the runway.
Please welcome back Lisa Robertson.
Hey, Lisa! Our next guest is widely regarded as one of Hollywood's top stylists.
He's currently developing his first apparel line for QVC, scheduled to launch in the spring.
But he's perhaps best known as a member of the infamous fashion police.
It's George kotsiopoulos.
Hi, everyone.
The winning designer will have one of their pieces produced and sold live on QVC.
Good luck, everybody.
[Pulsing electronic music.]
I feel awesome.
I love the combination of my ready-to-wear.
It's really kind of delicate and very feminine, but also really strong at the same time.
It's something that a lot of people can wear.
I'm really excited about it.
This girl is, like-- she's got it going on, and I love it.
I think it looks so bright and bold, and I love how it came out.
I feel like this is a true example of what my design is and what type of woman I'm looking to dress.
I'm really happy with it.
Love it.
I had this idea of this refined look, something really, really classic, and I feel like these fabrics are really well-manipulated.
I think she looks really stunning.
Beautiful, fabio.
You too.
so sweet.
My ready-to-wear look is super cute and fun and flirty.
It's the winning look.
I feel like because my fashion-forward is so fashion-forward and, like, pure comfort and genuinely my aesthetic that I could potentially be in the top this week.
I love it.
My ready-to-wear girl looks effortless.
I think the skirt is wicked cool.
I love, love this look.
These sleeves are just wonderful.
I think she looks romantic and dreamy and tall.
I really love this.
Oh, my God.
I want to be both of them.
Hello, girl.
Working with neoprene and lace, who would have thought neoprene and lace together? It can be a great, interesting pieces, especially the jacket.
That can be diverse.
It has a beauty about it, and it's very, very well-made.
And it's definitely striking.
You're gonna remember it.
At this point, I'm proud of what I made.
I'm proud of my work.
I'm happy.
That's all that matters.
I'm looking at my two looks, and right now, to have a strong point of view, just the feel of it, they're both kind of, like, really relaxed and easy.
Designers, congratulations on a great runway.
This week, you will all receive a critique.
Sonjia, fabio, dmitry, we're gonna start with you, so the others can wait in the backstage lounge.
Dmitry, let's start with you.
Tell us about your separates look and your fashion-forward version.
For my separates look, i made a wrap jacket out of neoprene and a skirt.
And I played with lace.
And my fashion-forward, I went all the way for the drama, and I used the same style lines and the same graphic silhouette.
Fabulous job.
I really love what you've done here.
However, I almost feel like your fashion-forward look is more accessible, perhaps, than your separates look.
Dmitry, I don't really agree with Georgina.
I don't see any of them as fashion-forward, necessarily.
I see them as two very pretty dresses.
Could you spin for me? I love this dress, and I think that it's absolutely beautiful.
But I think in reality that is cut so short that you might be arrested.
Dmitry, I think you nailed it on this one.
I think they look beautiful.
That top could go with black shorts or black jeans.
I think it's very, very versatile.
You have such a great understanding of the female body, and that's the thing that's most exciting to me.
Thank you.
Hi, fabio.
So the way that my mind works naturally is, i start with the fashion-forward idea.
So obviously, the first thing that hit to me was manipulating my own fabrics and bring back some of the elements into this.
Obviously, the soft pastel colors and a skort, because I feel like it's something that has style but still have something that's fun to wear.
That's a cute dress.
I just don't find it fashion-forward.
The dress-- either it needed less, or it needed more.
It feels a little young.
Can I see a spin of the ready-to-wear look? I think it's really sweet.
And I think, of everybody, probably the most sellable right now.
I love the shape and the style of the skort, and I like the concept of the leather.
But we already do so many simple designs that it would need something else to make it really stand out.
I don't know.
There's something over-thought about the dress.
Keep your eyes open a little bit more as to what's going on around you, not necessarily in the workroom but just in the world, 'cause I find these pieces slightly irrelevant.
Hi, sonjia.
Hello.
Tell us about your separate looks and your fashion-forward look.
For my separates look, I really wanted to make something that could go for the everyday woman.
For my fashion-forward look, i love the fact that this is kind of, like, sheer with the squares in it, and so I kind of played with that.
Yes, yes, yes, I love it all.
Yeah, really? Yeah, really.
So beautiful.
I'd wear it together.
I'd wear it separately.
Darling, I mean, it's beyond, right? This lace and the cutouts, I mean, forget it.
It's gorgeous.
I do think this dress would be better if you turned it around.
There is something about that hip that you do need to play around with I love the very edgy feel of that long dress.
I would love to own it.
I think it's absolutely stunning.
Thank you all so much.
Thanks, guys.
You could wait in the backstage lounge while we critique the others.
Helen, tell us about your ready-to-wear and your fashion-forward looks.
This is my ready-to-wear look, my sweet little high-low blouse.
As for the skirt, it's got a big box pleat in the front.
And as for the fashion-forward look, i wanted to bring an element of the ready-to-wear look into it, so I did kind of like this faux big box pleat.
You did a really, really wonderful job.
Thank you.
It's a great color combination.
It's got a retro feel, yet it feels modern.
Really good job, Helen.
I would never put those two items together because it does work well on the model, but it's not gonna work on anyone else.
Helen, I think you really found something amazing in this black dress this week.
It's both the fashion-forward piece and the more saleable of the two pieces.
So this is the kind of dress that I would buy and I would wear on the red carpet, and then I'd very carefully place in a box so that I could give it to my daughter 20 years from now.
That's so sweet.
Michelle, tell us about your separates look and your fashion-forward look.
So I went on a romantic journey and did a separates in a silk, doing a faux wrap skirt.
And then for the high-fashion, i just turned up the volume, turned up the sex, doing high-waisted hot pant underneath.
The thing to me is, like, I don't like that print.
I think it goes a little bit sort of, like, duty-free or something.
You know, it looks like you see it in an airport, and you bought it.
I don't know if I particularly love this print, but I like the attitude here of your woman; I do.
I can't figure out whether I really love it or I really don't.
The long dress-- i love the puff sleeves on that.
I think that's amazing.
I love prints, and prints are super hot now, so I think these are great.
My one issue is that they both look like fashion-forward looks.
I think the skirt might be a little overworked, but your fashion-forward look is romantic, really special.
Thanks.
Hi, Jay.
So for my two-piece ready-to-wear, i wanted to create a top and a pant look and just really, like, a relaxed vibe to it.
And to complement it with my fashion-forward look, i created this dress that's v neck and pleated.
The fabric for this cut of this pant is totally wrong.
They just look messy.
I think the top is really beautiful, very sellable.
I would totally wear the top.
The trousers--obviously the fabrication's a problem.
I don't know why you didn't just use the silk.
Then it would've all gone together.
Your fashion-forward look-- i love the color of that fabric, and I love the way the fabric drapes.
But I do kind of struggle with them going together.
Something about that dress is so heavy and so wrong.
From the back, i get those pleats, kind of, but the place it ends is just unforgiveable, darling.
Unforgiveable.
Jay, thank you for your work.
Thank you.
Thank you, designers, and thank you, models.
The amount of work and the quality of work this week is so impressive, but it's also given us a lot to discuss.
So that said, we're gonna deliberate, and you can go have a seat in the backstage lounge.
Prints! Oh, my God, prints! Oh, God, shade me from the light of the prints.
They just hated the fact that you used a print? For the most part.
These designers are really good.
And to design three pieces in a day? Unbelievable.
Let's start with dmitry.
That skirt with a black sweatshirt or a gray sweatshirt would be adorable.
He's meticulous.
They made sense together.
They were both beautiful.
They were both flattering.
Of those two pieces, which would you say is the fashion-forward? He wants you to believe it's the one-shoulder, but I disagree with that.
I don't.
I think it's the blue one.
Me too.
The blue one is definitely the more fashion-forward one.
Should we move on to Helen? Love that dress.
Wow, is that beautiful.
It's so beautiful it almost blinds you to the fact that the other didn't really make sense with it.
Yeah, these two looks didn't make sense to me together.
That's the problem.
Right.
Sonjia was the only one, i feel, that really nailed the two-piece.
I agree.
Those were two very different pieces that could be worn in so many different ways.
She's so smart too, the way she uses fabrics.
I was a little bothered by the dress.
There were quite a lot of mistakes there.
But her approach was so fresh.
That's-- that's the thing.
I can agree with that.
Yeah, I'll agree with that as well.
Yeah, I'll buy that.
Let's now move on to the least successful looks this week.
Let's start with Michelle.
I didn't mind what Michelle did.
It just didn't feel original enough.
But it was utterly pretty.
I like this print a lot.
I do too.
I think the print is great.
Oh, I don't like this print.
I'm sorry.
I don't like prints.
I would never wear either of those.
I think it would be tough to find a woman who would wear those as they were shown.
So let's talk about Jay.
I just don't know how anyone--a designer or a stylist--would put those pants on and think, "these look great.
" But who wouldn't know, when they put those pants on, to just shorten them about four or five inches And taper them, taper them! So they just hang straight.
And they'd be good.
I'm just confused by Jay's hem.
It was completely unfinished.
I wish he'd just straightened it out or done something with it.
It just said to me, "I've given up.
" Let's talk about fabio.
The fashion-forward look-- i don't see how that was fashion-forward.
He didn't bring enough to the table this week.
That's an excellent way to say it.
But I do like that he made his own print.
I usually appreciate his kind of ironic color sense, and this week, it just felt irrelevant.
It stood apart and not above.
So do we have a decision on who we're sending home? I think so.
Okay.
Let's bring them back out.
Designers, one of you is the winner of this week's challenge, and sadly, someone else will be going home tonight.
Dmitry, you're safe.
Thank you.
We'll see you next week.
Nice meeting you guys.
Helen and sonjia, one of you is the winner of this week's challenge.
And as one of your looks will be sold on QVC, let's ask Lisa Robertson to make the announcement.
The winner of this week's challenge is Sonjia.
Really? Oh, God! Oh, my God.
Congratulations, sonjia.
We'll see you on QVC.
Thank you, guys.
Great job to you too, Helen.
Thanks.
We'll see you, too, next week.
Good luck, guys.
I'm so excited about winning the QVC challenge, and I feel like this is just a small taste of what hopefully will be to come if I win the entire Project Runway: All Stars.
Sonjia, did you win? Yeah, oh, my God.
QVC.
I know, right? I feel so, like, honored.
And now to the lowest-scoring designs.
Michelle, you're safe.
We'll see you next week.
Thank you.
That leaves Jay and fabio.
Jay, you have a strong identity, but week after week, you just over-think your designs and try to accomplish too much.
You are your own worst enemy.
Fabio, you're an artist with a unique vision, but from an all-star, we're looking for fresh designs that appeal to modern women, not just to you.
The designer eliminated tonight is [Dramatic music.]
Jay.
That means, fabio, you're still in the competition.
Thank you.
You can leave the runway.
Thank you.
Hey, fabio.
You've been in the bottom a lot.
Yeah, I have.
Don't do it again.
Yeah, I won't.
I mean it, okay? Jay, thank you so much for being here, part of All Stars.
We've loved having you.
Oh.
But as you know, it's time to leave the runway.
Thank you.
Thank you, Jay.
We'll miss you.
The competition got to me to a point where I over-thought things.
[Chuckles.]
I became my own worst enemy.
Hello.
Don't be sad.
Being on Project Runway: All Stars made me a stronger designer.
It gave me another validation that--"hey, stop doubting yourself.
Like, go out there and show everyone what you can do.
" Next on Project Runway: All Stars Welcome to Marchesa.
We're working with a client who's here for final fitting for her wedding dress.
When is the wedding ceremony? Tomorrow.
Oh, no.
I feel emotionally drained.
I've dug such a deep hole that I don't know how to get out of it.
Are you okay, sonjia? You're so quiet.
[Cries.]
It looked like a circus dress.
I actually felt sorry for the lady in the dress.
It's not enough to make it work.
You have to make it happen.
[Laughs.]
[Applause.]
For more information on tonight's show, go to:

[Laughs.]
[Applause.]
