Project Runway: All Stars (2012) s04e11 Episode Script

Always the Bridesmaid

Previously on Project Runway: All Stars We want you to design two separates.
We also want you to create a fashion forward version of your look.
Did you get pink dye? Yeah, we have pink again.
I really need to take the over-designing into consideration.
It's too many pieces.
You can only do two.
Okay.
I just don't want the judges to have a reason to say, "can she do anything else?" Mm-hmm.
This is the kind of dress that I would wear on the red carpet, and then I'd give it to my daughter 20 years from now.
That's so sweet.
Darling, I mean, it's beyond, right? This lace and the cutouts--I mean, forget it, it's gorgeous.
The winner is Sonjia.
Really? [Laughs.]
The dress, either it needed less or it needed more.
It feels a little young.
Something about that dress is so wrong, is just unforgivable, darling.
The designer eliminated tonight is Jay.
This is Project Runway: All Stars.
[Whispering.]
Marchesa.
Today, we're on our way to Marchesa, and I realize this is one of the last few challenges.
It's getting really real.
Every time a challenge happens and somebody goes home, you come one step closer to the grand prize.
Marchesa! Oh, hi.
Wow.
Okay, this is what fancy looks like.
[Gasps.]
Oh.
Oh, my God.
We walk into Marchesa, and it is the epitome of feminine.
Lace, sparkles, beauty.
It's just like Georgina.
It's her world.
[Whispering.]
Marchesa.
Hello.
Hi.
[Laughter.]
Welcome.
Hi, all-stars.
All: Hi.
Welcome to Marchesa.
We're working with a client who's here for a final fitting for her wedding dress, and she's right outside with my co-founder and business partner, keren Craig.
All: Ooh.
Hi.
Hi, guys.
Keren Craig is absolutely stunning, and we're just, like, staring a bunch of beautiful, sparkling women.
I wish I would have dressed a little better.
Dana, congratulations.
Thank you so much.
Tell us about Peter.
Peter is amazing.
We've been dating for about 3 1/2 years, and we've been engaged for the last 7 months.
How are the wedding plans coming? It's been a whirlwind since we got engaged, but they're coming along.
Is there anything you haven't gotten yet? I have not gotten my bridesmaids dresses.
All: Oh.
Okay.
I think we can help you out here.
Designers, each of you will be assigned a bridesmaid, and your challenge is to design a bridesmaid's dress that makes your client look and feel fabulous.
The bridesmaid dress needs to be able to be worn to other events after the ceremony.
I'm thrilled to help this bride-to-be.
I would love to dress her bridesmaids, but all I keep thinking is, "I usually dress the bride.
" Dana also has brought her mood board with her, so she's got beautiful swatches, colors, so you guys can discuss all her plans with her.
You're gonna sketch here in the showroom before shopping at mood with your budget of $150.
And there's a big prize this week, so tell us about it, Georgina and keren.
So we have a real Marchesa experience for you.
We have glassware and chinaware by Marchesa by lenox.
If you're looking for fancy, this collection of homeware, it's absolutely exquisite.
And keren and I are launching a new range of Marchesa jewelry, the eternal collection, which is engagement rings and bridal-inspired jewelry.
The winner will get their very own Marchesa diamond ring.
[Laughter.]
I'm getting married, and I could definitely use a diamond ring, so I have, like, the prize in my sights.
We're also going to invite the winner and their guest to our fashion show.
You're gonna sit front row, and you're gonna have v.
I.
P.
Access, and you're gonna come backstage afterwards and come and hang out with us and we'll have fun.
Oh.
Yay.
I would love to win this prize.
I would love to be at Marchesa's fashion show.
And a little blingy-bling, that ain't hurt nobody.
So one last very important thing, Dana, when is the wedding ceremony? Tomorrow.
Oh, no.
[Laughter.]
Your faces.
[Laughter.]
Yes, designers, you have until tomorrow to create your contemporary bridesmaids' dresses.
I mean, no pressure, right? And everyone here is invited to the wedding What? Because the ceremony itself will be conducted live on the runway by me.
Oh.
What? Yes, I got ordained to conduct the first-ever Project Runway wedding.
Oh, my God.
Oh.
Alyssa Milano officiating this wedding on the runway.
This is All Stars.
Anything can happen.
The bridesmaids will be joining you in the workroom for fittings later today, so get to know Dana, get sketching here, and good luck.
See you tomorrow.
Bye, guys.
All: Bye.
Hi, Dana.
Hi.
How are you? Dmitry.
So tell us about your wedding.
My dress is a ball gown.
Kind of classic.
I really like the colors for my bridesmaids of maybe plums, dark grays, light grays, taupes.
I really like the color combination of deep navies with the burgundy.
I'm really excited to work with her.
How did you meet your man? We actually met at work.
Ah.
Yeah, a little scandalous.
We were strictly just friends at first, and then a lot of happy hours later, it turned into [Laughter.]
Something romantic.
I love love.
I'm so excited for you.
Thank you.
Not only are we gonna see our bridesmaid walk the runway, we're going to witness the wedding.
Amazing, amazing.
I love bridal, so I'm excited.
I'm sketching this fit and flare, to-the-knee-length dress.
I want the bridesmaids to look great, but I don't want them to outshine the bride.
Marchesa gowns are really thoughtful.
There's a lot of time and effort in appliques, embroideries, bead work, and I want to do some mimicking of that.
My vision for this bridesmaid's dress is a silhouette that's really tight and fitted to the body, and a skirt that flounces and a-lines just a little bit.
So it's something that's timeless, but I can actually push forward and make modern.
I haven't sketched one single thing today.
I really don't know what this dress is gonna look like, which isn't surprising 'cause I never know what my things are gonna look like till I start working on them, but this time, I really don't know, but it's gonna come to me, someway, somehow.
All right, guys, let's go to mood.
All right, guys, we got 30 minutes.
Let's go.
So I want to find a lace first.
I'm gonna swatch this one and these three here.
Organza is my absolutely favorite fabric to work with.
I've been in the bottom two weeks in a row.
I'm just gonna be overly ambitious with this and hope that it flies.
What's this? Boom, let's get some of that.
Which one has more transparency? Okay, can we hold that one? I like that one a lot.
I find this purple roll of silk, and I find a really pretty Jersey.
I don't know what I'm doing to tie it all together yet.
I don't have time to be making rash decisions right now.
I'ma get both.
Five minutes, guys! I find this beautiful chantilly lace and a wool crepe.
I went for expensive, and here's to hoping it works.
Time's up, guys! All: Thank you, mood.
Done.
Ooh.
Right? I'll go to that wedding.
Exactly.
Let's see how it drapes.
I'm going to drape this beautiful dress from silk Jersey.
I'm gonna play with illusion again, and I'm gonna create this neck piece.
I think you just use that as an excuse to touch my boobs.
Always.
Yes.
I'm gonna connect it with the bodice of the dress with the pleated silk, so it's very time-consuming.
That looks like a huge pain in the ass.
I know, but it should look cool.
Oh, that's what you put on my neck.
Yeah.
Yeah.
That's pretty.
I think dmitry's look is absolutely hideous.
Ruching of the mesh looks cheap, he's got, like, 15 different fabrics he's using.
I just--I really don't know where it's going.
That's pretty.
Thank you.
I was the maid of honor at my sister's wedding.
I was the maid of--or one of the whatevers at my sister's, but I made her dress.
That's, like, the biggest responsibility ever.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Dana's wearing a Marchesa bridal gown.
Last thing I want is for these bridesmaids to look cheap.
It's such a sentimental thing.
It has to be just right.
Ooh, that gets sheer.
Yep.
Still don't know what happening yet.
People are doing, like, really elaborate dresses.
I don't have anything actually physically sewn together.
Okay, think, sonjia, think.
You gotta pull this out of your ass, think about it, figure it out.
It's really tough competition at this point.
You can't afford to, like, not bring your a-game, because you can easily go home.
I think this might look cool if I can do it right.
I'm really excited.
I'm actually drawing out the applique and putting on myself, and that's something that no one else in the room is doing, and I think that'll give it a little edge.
You okay, sonjia? Super quiet.
What's up? What's going on? [Sobs.]
We're having dinner, and sonjia, she just completely melts down.
[Sobs.]
Don't cry.
I have no idea what happened.
She looked so sad.
[Sobs.]
Sonjia, you need to just take a minute and breathe.
You're all right.
It's hard, because you don't want to see someone go through this, but how do you prop someone up when they're broken on the inside? [Sobs.]
It's really hard to challenge yourself every single week, to come up with a great design all the time.
And sometimes it gets to you.
I'm just, like, to the point where I feel like I'm exhausted, and I don't know how to, like, make it work, 'cause it just seems like whatever I'm doing just isn't working.
It's so stressful to feel like you're doing a dress that might not be strong enough.
I know how hard that is, and she's one of those girls that really gets into her head.
Don't psych yourself out.
Don't feel like you have no option, don't feel like you have nowhere to go, 'cause there's always something.
Even if you need to go outside for, like, a second.
She just needs to step away from it and take a break, but as long as you keep focused on what you do the best, it's gonna be okay.
Why did I pick this bitch organza? I want this very structured base out of organza, which is a very bitchy fabric to work with, just because it's so soft and it's so flimsy, and it's a mess.
I hate organza, to work with it.
He's actually trying to construct with this fabric, and you never construct with this fabric.
You use it for the flowy and party things.
He just set himself for the disaster.
Hi, ladies.
Hi.
Hi, how are you? I'm dmitry.
How are you? You are drop-dead gorgeous.
Oh, my God, you're gonna look amazing.
Hot dog.
Yeah.
Just wanted to make sure that we have your measurements, 'cause you're basically my mannequin.
Your waist is like the dress form.
I'm really happy with my bridesmaid.
She has basically, like, a model-type figure.
Here's to hoping your hip is-- i won't have to make any changes.
Boosh! Holla.
Holla.
That's not too shabby.
Okay, I'm just gonna fit your neck.
Mm-hmm.
I think, for my look, it's extremely important to get right the proportions, because my "bridemaid" is very short, so I have to be mindful to fit it beautifully.
We'll make it sexy.
I'm kind of working in the midst of a dress that is not even close to being done.
Kind of good that I have something to put on my girl, so at least I can see, maybe, hopefully, what it will look like.
This color looks really pretty on you.
All right, I'll see you in the morning.
Good luck with it.
You're gonna rock it.
Bring the same bra.
I have to applique for the rest of my life.
After the bridesmaid's fitting, I feel at ease because I've seen her body type.
I know what will fit her and what will look flattering, but now my biggest concern is the hours and hours of applique ahead of me.
If I don't do the applique right, could ruin my look.
Oh, zanny-poo.
Hi, designers.
Hello.
A Project Runway first, a wedding on the runway.
So obviously, Marchesa, this is their challenge, and we all want to impress Georgina Chapman, so I'm gonna bring in someone who can help you with this.
Oh.
The ceo of Marchesa, who happens to be Georgina's brother, Edward Chapman.
Hi! Hey, Zanna, how are you? Oh, I'm good, how are you? Great to see you.
Thank you for coming.
Lovely to meet all of you.
Excited to be here.
So Edward is gonna help me mentor today, and we're gonna start with you, dmitry.
Oh, okay.
Hi, dmitry.
Hi, Zanna.
Meet Edward.
Hi, dmitry, very nice to meet you, pleasure.
Nice to meet you.
How's your bridesmaid look coming along? I'm playing with this beautiful silk Jersey Yeah.
And playing with some toile.
I have some lace, I have some embroideries that I might add.
Okay.
Or I might not.
Simplicity always helps, like, to make it versatile, so you can wear it to any sort of formal occasion or more relaxed occasion.
I think the fussier you get, the less versatile it's gonna be.
Yeah.
This was actually accidental, but I think I'm loving how this lace is draping.
Mm-hmm.
It's a very modern silhouette.
I think adding the lace is gonna take it to a little bit older world.
Mm-hmm.
What's the plan with the embroidery? I know with the lace, for sure I want to do some sort of applique, it's just that I have to figure the placement and it not going matronly.
The "v" is quite severe.
I think what you just did with the lace and using the scalloping Right.
Over here actually really softens that.
You need to take it from business to bridesmaid.
Right.
What I want to do is create an over skirt that has this really deep pleat that kind of gives a little bit of flounce and romance to it.
And then I found this really beautiful applique Gorgeous.
That I'm thinking of doing-- placing it really strategically over the shoulder right there.
I love the embroidery at the top on the arms.
That's very Marchesa.
Yeah, yeah.
So that's bound to fit in with what the bride chose.
Definitely.
Your designs are gorgeous, and you have a very minimal taste level.
Mm-hmm.
I sometimes worry that that doesn't translate on the runway, and that's why we're not getting win after win after win.
Right.
I really appreciate the fact that she's opening my eyes and forcing me to do something that's gonna, like, take the judges' breath away.
Very nice to meet you.
Pleasure.
Thank you so much.
Bye.
I'm gonna try to put some modern touches into it, but I'm not gonna change the whole aesthetic.
I guess I'm still at a place now trying to figure out, this is just the foundation Mm-hmm.
Exactly how I want to drape it above it.
I mean, you have the master draper's brother right here, so-- [laughter.]
Georgina is all about draping, that's for sure.
Uh-huh.
As well as draping, there's always an element of detail that you need.
I have this trim that--I'm not nervous about it, but I want to make sure that I use it in a way that doesn't feel like you just plastered it on there.
Mm-hmm, I think you have some draping to do, some figuring out to do.
Yeah.
This is a great base to start from.
Good luck, sonjia.
Thank you.
I'm going with a beautiful plum tone using applique that I'm hand-placing to give her kind of a little bit of a curvy shape.
In terms of Marchesa, it's always been a very romantic, ethereal product, and I'd just like to make sure that the bridesmaids dress go with the bride's.
A lot to think about.
Yes.
All right, good luck.
Thanks.
Thanks, Michelle.
[Sighs.]
Looking around the room, I think mine is just the most romantic design here.
I feel so good about my dress, I'm really not worried about it.
Okay, designers, there's definitely some lovely bridesmaid dresses in the making.
I just want you to remember that this is a Marchesa challenge, and Dana the bride will be wearing a Marchesa gown.
For that reason, these all need elevating.
It's all about attention to detail, craftsmanship, and execution.
I definitely know Georgina's gonna be looking for that.
Let's get on it.
Good luck.
All: Thank you.
Good luck, everyone.
Thank you.
We only have two hours left.
Edward Chapman and Zanna, they were, like, very encouraging, so I think I just gotta, like, go with the flow with whatever's happening.
That's what I'm doing at this point, I'm just like, "pin it, move it around, put that there.
" Ooh.
What are you doing? How did you do that? This is cool.
But I just thought, maybe if it had some kind of contrast somewhere, it could give it a little bit more pop.
Mm-hmm.
It's starting to come together.
Like, it's starting to be the base of what could be a really good dress.
Does anybody else have any other trim? Fabio has this embroidery that he's not using.
If I put it on my dress, then it's overkill, so I most definitely won't use it.
Good.
I think that looks-- that's way better.
That's a really short dress, dima.
This is a really cute room of bridesmaids' dresses, though.
It's like, who's next? You don't know.
Anybody can be next, I guess.
Everybody is more developed and everybody is more experienced.
It's best of the best, so it's harder to compete.
'Cause before, you kind of knew Yeah.
The weaklings, right? Yeah.
So now, it's like, okay.
Now the pressure's on, because there's only five designs to look at tomorrow.
The end is near.
Hey, guys, let's go home.
Someone's going home tomorrow, and that scares the crap out of me.
[Claps.]
Wrap it up.
Someone's leaving, and, like, I don't want that to be me.
I am about to vomit.
We only have two hours, and we all have a [Bleep.]
ton of work to do.
I'm, like, really anxious.
I have so many things to figure out, like, exactly what I want this dress to look like.
I still have appliques to do, I have to sew the garment together, I have to figure out my hem length.
There's a lot to do.
Hey.
I need to tweak things there and there, but it looks pretty good.
It suits for the occasion, and I think it looks beautiful.
Amazing.
Dmitry's look was the exact same dress that Dana wore when we met her at Marchesa, and I thought it was really ballsy of him to re-create that, 'cause I feel like, where is there any originality? But I do want a big lash, because she's got these great brows and big eyes.
I take my bridesmaid to the Mary Kay color design studio.
With your green eyes, we're gonna play with a little bit of plum too.
Cute, okay, perfect.
I want it to look traditional, but still really fresh and young.
Okay, let's go hit the chi hair care salon.
Yeah.
I want to give her a high bun.
Like a loose top knot? Thank you.
I was thinking to go Hollywood classic.
I want to do a center part.
I want my model to have a perfect hair braid.
It's gonna look like an angel with a halo.
Hey, guys, we got 15 minutes left.
Thanks.
I put it on my bridesmaid, and it's awful.
It fits the dress form great, but it does not fit my model at all.
There's no time for alterations.
It sucks that something I love so much just isn't working on my girl.
I think Michelle has a lot of fit issues, but I like that she's creating this balance.
It's very artistic, it's a bit crafty maybe, but she's making something creative and something different, so I like it.
I like it.
I like fabio's dress.
I think it's different, and that's what he does, he brings something different to the table.
I like this one.
So I go to the QVC accessory wall, I find the exact shoe that I'm looking for.
I might like these better.
Five minutes left, guys.
Does that neckline bother you? No, not at all.
I don't know how I managed to sew all of that in one night.
It's on my bridesmaid, and she looks beautiful.
Helen's three words are: Wool crepe, cap sleeve, and lace.
Every challenge, that's what she does.
So she's just going back into her box of crayons and using the same three crayons over again.
Guys, time's up.
Let's head to the runway.
I feel awesome about my look.
I feel like it really came together, and I'm excited about it.
The winner of Project Runway: All Stars will be given the chance to create their own capsule collection with QVC and will appear on QVC's spring fashion week, a fashion spread in Marie claireand a position at the magazine as contributing editor for one year.
Chi hair care will send the winner to stay in a luxury spa resort as a special guest at their international conference in Cancun, Mexico, plus product and staff for an entire year of runway shows.
From Mary Kay, an entire year's worth of beauty products for their fashion shows and professional makeup artist services for their debut show.
And from Brother Sewing and embroidery, a complete sewing and crafting studio to launch their line, and $150,000 in cash.
Ooh.
Ohh.
I'm proudly wearing Marchesa.
Yes.
We can tell.
We noticed.
This week, we entered a fashion fantasy world at Marchesa's gorgeous showroom.
You got a sneak peek at Marchesa's new jewelry line, the eternal collection, which will be available exclusively at Macy's, and you met our bride-to-be, Dana, who needed five bridesmaids' dresses.
Your challenge was to design one that is perfect for a wedding but can also be worn to other events after the ceremony.
Let's meet our judges.
First, co-founder and designer of luxury brand Marchesa, Georgina Chapman.
Hi, designers.
[Applause.]
Next, one of the most iconic names in American fashion, Mr.
Isaac Mizrahi.
[Whistles.]
Hi, kids.
Our guest judge is an emmy nominated host and winner of a British academy award.
From so you think you can dance, it's the beautiful cat deeley.
Hi.
Hello there.
Yay.
And as I'm now officially ordained, I will be conducting today's wedding ceremony live on the runway.
[Laughter.]
Have a great show, everyone.
Good luck.
[Techno music.]
the fit of my dress is on point, so I don't have to be worried about that.
There's so much going on on the front portion of this dress, and it's beautiful and it's flawless, but the back is looking really boring.
Yeah.
used a matte and a shiny? Yup.
I'm really happy.
She's happy, she looks gorgeous in it.
Obviously, if I had more time, I would have resolved my issues a lot better, but I set out to make a gorgeous dress, and I did, and I made her happy with it, so kudos to me.
ooh, yes, girl.
My bridesmaid looks adorable and happy.
She's got a swing in her step and a smile on her face, and that's what you want to do for a girl.
I don't know if she realizes that the fit is off.
I spent so much time on this romance, but I didn't have enough time for everything else, and that was the risk I took.
I like the way my model looks in the dress.
It has a lot of movement, it has a beautiful drape, and I think if you put five bridesmaids in these dresses, they're gonna look happy and beautiful.
Job is done.
oop, there I go.
I love the open slit on the dress.
I love that it's long and short at the same time.
It gives a little bit of sexiness.
I feel like bridesmaids are always so covered up and boring.
Like, show a little skin.
Designers, one of you is the winner this week, and one of you is going home.
Helen, we're gonna start with you.
Introduce us to your model and tell us about your look, please.
This is angel.
I decided to go with a fit and flare, because I wanted it to be versatile, not just worn as the bridesmaid's dress.
It's really flattering.
You want your bridesmaids to feel as gorgeous as possible, and also be able to help you.
You know, you've got to be able to pick up the veil, and you can't be worried about your own dress.
It is a very, very nice dress.
I just wanted a little more, but i do think it's an appropriate dress and it's definitely a versatile dress.
I think your dress is really flattering, but it is a little heavy, and what winds up happening is, I think it skews a little older.
I commend you for being so tasteful this week, but what is really unbelievable about this dress? Tasteful is good, but I'm looking for a little bit more.
Thank you, Helen.
We're gonna move on to fabio.
Tell us about your outfit.
This is Catherine, and when I met with Dana for the first time, something that struck me about her personality is that she was very classic, but at the same time, very modern.
That's where the idea of, like, the half cap sleeve and the draping on the skirt is just something that will give it a little bit more of, like, a flirty side, but still be very classic and very structured.
Well, what I like most about this dress is that it's a little bit of a departure from you.
I do think there are some flaws in it, for instance, just the proportion on this little sleeve should maybe be pushed forward a little bit, and the hemline is kind of a mess.
Have you worked with satin faced organza before? I have.
Then you should know better, fabio.
[Laughter.]
But--and that's exactly when it hit me.
I was like, "it does not behave, it's so bitchy.
" [Laughter.]
It is.
It's a bitchy fabric.
[Laughter.]
I actually love the shoulders, but for me, 'cause I'm built a bit like an American football player, I would like the sleeve to come down a little bit more there, but I like that modern feel.
Hi, fabio.
Hi, Isaac.
[Laughter.]
Here we go.
Well, darling, honestly, this is not the worst dress I've ever seen in my life, but again, it's like, this is supposed to be Project Runway: All Stars, and this is a good challenge, and I don't really feel like it comes up to the sort of fabio that we're hoping to see.
Michelle, introduce us to your model and tell us about your look.
This is beautiful Olivia.
I gave her a really dramatic neckline, because I know, being in weddings, most of the photographs are here.
I think that's very smart.
I hadn't even thought of that, but you're absolutely right.
I could almost do a little bit more with that.
Now you've said it, I was thinking, "ooh, actually, you could really go to town with that.
" Michelle, why isn't that dress, like, 5 inches shorter? Just hike it up.
Yeah, hello? Yeah, there you go.
No, hello, you're right.
Hello, I mean, like, I see her legs, I see the person, I see the woman, she's having a fun time at a wedding.
I'm serious, that is my problem with your dress.
I'm getting a little phallic from this center applique piece.
From here--I don't know what it's doing up there, but it looks a little penis-like from down here.
[Laughter.]
She's hormonal.
[Laughter.]
Yeah.
It's what got me into this-- this predicament in the first place.
[Laughter.]
And the bottom, to me, looks-- you're gonna--I know you're gonna roll your eyes and hate me for saying this, but it looks a little circus costume to me.
There's something, to me, unresolved about the sleeve, but I think it's such a pretty idea, what you've done, and I really appreciate that you've pushed it a little bit.
Thank you, Michelle.
Thank you, Olivia.
Dmitry.
This is my beautiful model/bridesmaid, uh, mattay, and I wanted to create something elegant but modern at the same time, so I gave her kind of a more geometric neckline.
Honestly, I don't know where to start with this dress.
You do the prettiest dresses all the time, and, like, now you do that dress.
I don't know how the sort of drapery on the bottom relates to the ruching, and then that sort of Cleopatra-ish thing going on around the neck, it's so unattractive.
Honestly, I'm sorry, like, you might be gathering that this was not my favorite runway, not your best week, all-stars.
I don't think there's anything particularly wrong with this dress, but it's nothing new about this dress.
I feel like I've seen this dress a million times.
I also was thinking about versatile and that it has to be worn multiple times, so-- that doesn't mean boring.
Dmitry, I-I kind of like this dress.
I think in terms of it being a bridesmaid dress, I think it's safe, particularly if you've got lots of other women who also have to wear the same thing.
No, there's nothing wrong.
I think the word you use, safe.
Yes, it is safe.
I just find it a very safe dress.
But I think it's chic.
No, it's not a good dress.
I'm sorry, it's not a good dress.
It's not a bad dress.
Someone has to tell you the truth, that is not a good dress, period.
I mean, she looks so gorgeous.
No, it's not a disaster, though, it's definitely a-- no, it's not a disaster, my goodness.
It's not.
Okay.
Should I kick you in the shins? Oh, how great, it's not a disaster.
This is not called "project runway: It's not a disaster," okay, it's called project runway: All Stars.
[Laughter.]
Sorry.
Thank you, dmitry.
Thank you.
Thanks for being a good sport.
Let's go to sonjia.
This is Catherine, and I just wanted to do a bridesmaid dress that I feel like a bridesmaid would be really comfortable in and she'd have fun in, she could wear multiple times.
This is my dress.
I'm conflicted by your dress.
Yeah? It probably is one of the more exciting dresses up here on this runway, which makes me like it.
Well, you've got me thinking.
Okay.
[Both laughing.]
Again, I'm sort of baffled.
I don't know who any of you are this week.
[Laughter.]
I really don't.
Like, I did not expect this from you either, you know? That dress has, like, too much drapery on it by half.
There's very few women who could handle that much drapery.
See, I love that kind of whole '70s, studio 54, Jersey, but it just doesn't quite work for me.
I'm glad I'm going last, because this was my favorite dress.
I love this dress.
I love the fact that you can actually alter the drapery to fit every body.
I just--I thought a lot about the fact that, like, I love dancing at weddings, and I love to wear something that I would feel a little sexy and flirty in.
You don't have to convince me.
I gave it the highest score of the day.
Wow.
Thank you, guys.
Thank you, designers, and thank you to our beautiful bridesmaids.
We have a few differences of opinion here on the panel.
[Laughter.]
So we're gonna deliberate, and we will call you back.
All: Thank you.
What the hell just happened? I think they're gonna take a dart [Laughter.]
And they're gonna make a dart board, and there will be all of our faces on it, and they're just gonna throw.
And then whoever it lands goes home? Yeah.
That was an interesting runway, huh? I think it's because as it gets, like, sort of more and more down to the wire, we just get a little tougher with our love.
This is All Stars.
It's not enough to make it work.
You have to make it happen.
Well, let's talk about the dresses that we liked.
It'll be a very short conversation, won't it? Yes, okay, so-- [laughter.]
I liked Helen's dress.
Me too.
I liked it, you know.
Yeah, me too.
It's a beautiful dress.
I liked it too, yes.
It was a beautiful dress.
You know? To me, it was very kind of Italian.
You should be kissing Italian men and dancing till dawn and eating spaghetti and being slightly squiffy on champagne.
I just it wasn't so conservative.
Very conservative.
Both: Yeah.
Very pretty, very conservative, very safe.
So sonjia was the other high scoring dress, right? Yes.
I applaud her for going somewhere with that dress, right, but I can't award her for that work.
There are so many mistakes in that dress.
When you start-- mistakes, though? You think mistakes Oh, yes, yes.
Or just, like, a difference of opinion? Look what it's doing to the bust.
Yeah, that is, like, boob and then schmoob.
You know what I mean, it's not even a boob.
With that Jersey, it just shows every bump, lump, bit-- schmoob.
Yeah, schmoob--that you just don't want to see.
So let's move on to our low scores.
[Sighs.]
Should we start with dmitry? God, what a disappointment.
It was so dull.
It was offensively dull.
Safe, boring, a big yawn.
I have to say, I actually scored that dress one of the highest, because she looks good in that dress I don't know.
And I would wear it.
Cat, you would wear dmitry's dress? Yeah.
You would.
It wouldn't be my first choice, but I would wear it.
I would much rather go with that over Michelle's dress, you know what I mean, like, in terms of what I would wear.
Yeah, well, that, I agree.
Michelle's dress-- I don't know.
At least she tried something here.
No, it looked like a circus dress.
It really did, look at it.
The proportions are so bad on this dress.
I felt sorry for the lady, Olivia, in the dress.
And it was like she just had this sack on her that wasn't doing her any favors whatsoever.
Let's talk about fabio's dress.
I mean, fabio's, it wasn't his best work, but like you said, he came outside of his comfort zone.
He kind of tried to go somewhere, you know? But Isaac, it's just--he is consistently--we forgive him every week, and I'm sorry, but an all-star designer should know better than to use satin faced organza and try and use it in that design, and then to tell me he's worked with the fabric before.
Between Michelle and fabio, it's pretty neck-and-neck as to the mistakes that they make week in and week out.
If it were down to this week, i would say good night to Michelle, because that dress is unforgivable, whilst fabio's dress this week is not so unforgivable.
There are people who would really like this kind of extended shoulder, and exposing of the arm in that way I think is chic.
I don't know.
I think Michelle is onto something more interesting there than fabio.
I think if Michelle and fabio's dresses could both be resolved, i think Michelle's would be a more interesting dress at the end of the day.
This was a tough one.
Ugh, so tough.
But we have our decision? Mm-hmm.
Okay, let's bring 'em back out.
[Dramatic music.]
designers, one of you is the winner this week, and one of you is going home.
[Dramatic music.]
sonjia and Helen, one of you is this week's winning designer.
You'll receive a Marchesa experience, including China and glassware, a beautiful diamond ring, and those sought-after front row tickets at fashion week.
As this is the Marchesa challenge, Georgina, you want to do the honors? Absolutely.
And the winning designer is Helen.
[Applause.]
Congratulations.
[Laughter.]
Yes! Yes, Georgina, yes! [Laughter.]
Congratulations, girls.
We'll see you next week.
Both: Thank you.
Good luck, guys.
I won the challenge, so it's kind of awesome, 'cause it was Marchesa, and that's beyond words.
Congratulations.
Thanks.
I'm honored that I was even a runner-up, 'cause you know where i was at yesterday.
Yeah, but you pulled it together, man.
[Dramatic music.]
dmitry, you had a low score, but you are safe.
Thank you, guys.
I promise I'll do better.
[Laughter.]
See you next week.
Tough love, darling, tough love.
[Dramatic music.]
and that leaves Michelle and fabio.
One of you is going home.
Michelle.
We do appreciate that you set out to do something difficult, but the fit proportions and balance were all off.
Fabio, we love that you pushed yourself outside your comfort zone this week, but your choice to work with such a difficult fabric was a bad choice.
The designer eliminated tonight is [Dramatic music.]
fabio.
That means Michelle, we will see you next week.
Thank you.
[Chuckles.]
Oh, that'll make me proud.
[Laughs.]
Thank you.
Just so appreciate your whole energy and how you took this criticism week after week.
Stop it.
Pleasure's all mine.
I'll get on my knees and I'll give you the biggest-- love you so much.
Thank you so much.
[Kisses.]
Can't wait to see what's next for you.
It was a pleasure.
Nice to meet you.
Bye, fabio.
Thank you so much.
Getting eliminated sucks, especially so close to the end, but I'm still really proud of what I did.
Hey, you guys.
[Sobs.]
I love you so much.
Hey, I love you.
I'm really proud of you.
I'm gonna be sad without that room.
I really love to be inspired by these people.
[Kisses.]
I've done everything that I could and I did my best, and I'm not gonna lie, it's crazy.
It drove me insane.
But I had fun.
[Classical music.]
[Whispering.]
Are you nervous? Maybe a little.
[Chuckles.]
designers, judges, friends, and family.
Some say love is like fashion.
It may have its ups and downs, but it never goes out of style.
Do you, Dana, take Peter to be your husband, through joy and sorrow and whatever challenges you may face as long as you both shall live? I do.
Do you, Peter, take Dana to be your wife, through joy and sorrow and whatever challenges you face as long as you both shall live? I do.
By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife.
You may kiss the bride and walk the runway.
[Laughs.]
[Cheers and applause.]
[Richard Wagner's bridal march.]
oh! [Laughter.]
[Cheers and applause.]
next, on Project Runway: All Stars This is the week that decides who makes it to the project runway: All Stars finale.
If you don't put sparkles, you could be going home.
You're gonna tell me that my fabric's not sparkly? I guess grandma is going to a wedding.
Let's have a mini-challenge.
Both: [Gasp.]
Lassie? [Dog barks.]
Oh, we might have--I'm gonna just-- oh, wow.
We have one more challenge, and it will take place live on the runway tonight.
Oh, God, that's brutal.
[Sobs.]
