Major Crimes s04e20 Episode Script
Hindsight Part 2
1 Previously on "Major Crimes" Tao: Heroin.
Found underneath the baby's car seat.
Sykes: 3-year-old boy went to the hospital D.
O.
A.
Provenza: I'm afraid - we are in the middle of a gang war.
- [Glass shatters.]
You ever hear of the Reese murders? Sykes: Our victims were shot with the same gun that killed officer Reese and D.
D.
A.
Gray? Yes.
Go directly to this man and listen to what he tells you.
Mark Hickman? Taylor: Hickman perjured himself on the stand.
He lost us the murder case of an L.
A.
cop.
He was Mike's partner.
You want another investigator from the original case besides Tao.
Call in Stephanie Dunn.
Stephanie: Do you really believe that the same person who killed my husband also murdered this Tamika and her baby? There was a third guy in the car the day Reese was killed.
And find the gun this time.
It connects to Daniel Price.
We need to pray for our young men To lay down their arms of destruction.
You think Reverend Price got away with killing a cop and got out of the dope business? He just sprinkled a little Jesus over everything and carried on running heroin out of his church.
[Dog barks.]
Buzz: Oh, my.
Good God.
It's the UZI.
[Barking continues.]
[Clicking.]
[Gunshots.]
[Computer beeping.]
What do you think, Francine? You could wait for us to compare the bullets, but you'd be wasting your time.
This is the gun from the Reese murders.
And the gun that killed your victims last night.
Do you mind if I? Aww.
You want to hold her? Here.
[Sighs.]
Tao: The weapon was wiped clean, so prints aren't gonna help, but again, and this is weird, cornstarch was found on the grip.
There was cornstarch found underneath the altar.
It's everywhere.
We're pretty sure it's what they cut the heroin with.
You know, we thought Reverend Cop-killer was stilling pushing, but search warrants for houses of worship are tough to come by.
Sanchez: Well, the dogs wouldn't have gone off at the altar, though, unless the dope had been there.
So the heroin was moved, but the gun wasn't.
During the flower shop robbery, when Officer Reese was murdered, could there have been someone waiting for Daniel and Emile in the car? A lookout, maybe? A third person? Emile denied it, but yeah.
I mean, at the time, Mark, Steph, and myself agreed a third person was a possibility.
Especially when the gun wasn't where Emile said it would be.
Provenza: A third person explains how the UZI disappeared in the first place.
Stephanie: We worked the idea hard for a couple days, came up with some names associated with the Bloods.
Axe, Lil' Axe, Pretty Boy, Bananas, Hot Shot, Showtime, Big Ears.
Didn't have a chance to run all these guys down.
D.
D.
A.
Gray found out what we were up to and demanded we stop.
- Why? What for? - All right, look.
If Gray, an experienced D.
D.
A.
, had even mentioned an unidentified accomplice, she would have been giving a gift to the defense.
Look, I'm glad we found the murder weapon, but it didn't come with a name tag.
And right now, we're suppressing a gang war, and I need to arrest whoever killed this mother and child.
To that end, Julio, if Reverend Price is dealing heroin, we need to find a sample of his wares and see if it matches up to the heroin that we found in Tamika's car.
Well, maybe we can trace one of the numbers on her cell back to a dealer, ma'am.
And I'll extend the search for Emile to include all of Southern California.
And I'm sorry, Chief, but his presence at the church means Mark Hickman can no longer be ignored.
Amy, since you're the only person that Mark Hickman doesn't know, please find him and keep him under surveillance.
Will do, Captain.
In the meantime, Lieutenant Provenza, let's see if our Reverend Price would like to discuss how his church acts as a sanctuary for drugs and murder weapons.
Peter: I hope that thing's not loaded.
Are you worried that your client will have a flashback? Pick it up out of habit? Reverend Price is a civic and religious leader and a humanitarian.
Who killed a police officer with that machine gun.
We are here to help with the present crisis, not defend ourselves against old grudges.
I'm not a gangster anymore.
I've asked forgiveness from Christ.
Well There's a big difference between being right with Jesus and good with the law.
"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.
" Before you launch into another sermon, Reverend, perhaps you could explain why our drug dogs went crazy in your sanctuary.
They're racist.
That's real, okay? Racist dogs.
[Sighs.]
Just answer me this.
Did they find any controlled substances? I'm gonna take that as a no.
Daniel, we should leave.
- No, Peter.
I want to help.
- Fine.
Then you can start by telling us where you were the night that Tamika Weaver and her son were murdered.
Extra credit if you can also explain why, instead of drugs, we found the murder weapon that killed officer Reese in the altar of your church.
- In the altar? - Okay, hold on.
- What? - Hold it.
Yes, and if you can tell us why this same murder weapon also killed Tamika and her son, D.
D.
A.
Gray, and her bodyguard.
[Sighs.]
The church has an open-door policy.
Anyone, including the police, who just pushed for a surprise visit, could have stashed this weapon in the altar.
As for Daniel's whereabouts last night during Tamika's murder Right after Taco Monday, we hold a lock-in at our fellowship hall for teen outreach.
It's like a sleepover.
Our high-school kids stay until morning.
We pray, we screen a movie, and let the kids spend one night a week without having to watch their backs.
I could produce probably 40 corroborative witnesses confirming Daniel's alibi.
You asked me earlier about a former friend of mine.
Just out of prison.
I hadn't spoken to him in a while, but when he called me, we exchanged words.
He was upset.
And this person also has a history with that gun.
Emile Fisher.
We keep hearing this guy's name.
What this guy Emile needs to hear is a loud knock on his door, if we can find out where he is.
Thanks.
Never goes away, does it? It fades into the background for a little while, but then you hear a song Or you you drive by a restaurant [voice breaking.]
where the two of you And it's as fresh as a slap in the face.
Worst part is, I never got to say goodbye.
Yeah.
That's tough.
It is.
You know what would really help us both right now? What? Some serious drugs.
[Chuckles lightly.]
[Chuckles.]
[Sniffles.]
I'm gonna take a few undercovers, go hunt for Reverend Price's dope dealers.
You okay taking the numbers off Tamika's phone without me? Yeah.
Yeah, I got to follow up on the analysis of the heroin from the car, too.
It's worth a lot more than I thought it would be.
Hey.
Stay safe.
Will do.
[Horn blows.]
I'd pour you a shot But you're on duty and obviously a girl scout.
Come aboard.
Just keep your voice down.
The wife's asleep.
Why were you at that church? Bible study.
How about you? Doing a consent search that I told you we were working on.
Consent search.
And I told you that the dope was already being moved.
Was I wrong? Did you find any heroin? No.
We found the UZI.
[Scoffs.]
You found the what? The gun used to murder Reese, Gray, Dunn, Tamika, and her baby, so I'll ask you again.
What were you doing at that church? You needed a warrant.
I didn't.
And time Time was slipping away.
So I drove to Salvation Community, saw Reverend Price's little brother enter with a bunch of Bloods.
They left a few minutes later.
And their pockets weren't full of communion wafers.
Detective Dunn's already investigating ties between the church and local dealers, so Ah, Stephanie Dunn is a hack.
And her goody-goody husband Worst bodyguard ever.
Oh, my God.
You found the gun.
Sorry.
I'm officially on the wagon, but every now and then I find something to celebrate.
Like finally having a chance to leave the UZI where we'd find it? And incriminate Daniel Price? You don't really think that I planted evidence.
Why'd you come back? Earlier today, you indicated you were willing to help our investigation in exchange for updates.
Oh, I see.
So you told me about the gun in the church.
Now I'm supposed to give you my perspective.
And here I thought you only came back because Captain Mary Poppins wanted a tail on me.
And you, as Detective Honor Roll, volunteered.
"I'll go, nanny.
I'll go.
" All right, if you want to hear about our progress, and that is all you're getting out of this updates You need to stop playing detective and be a little more forthcoming with me.
Is this your "please, I need more help" tone of voice? Because it could use some work.
Instead of getting mad at me, why don't you concentrate on the criminals, like Emile Fisher? He's out of prison Yeah, we know that and we're trying to locate him.
- The problem is - You're trying to locate him? Trying? I can't believe you guys.
In the Reese murder book, Tao has a sheriff's report that lists all the names of the 28th Street Bloods that showed up at Price's trial.
And maybe one of them wasn't there to support Reverend Trigger.
Maybe one was there to support Emile and only showed up on the days our star witness testified.
You happen to figure out that gangster's name - Quit screwing around.
- Hey.
- No fair.
- If you know where Emile, just tell me.
And you'll explain to nanny you found him how? Remember the rules, Honor Roll.
You got to show your sources.
Or is this that point in our relationship where you can start talking about me to your friends? No.
But you're officially under surveillance.
I could follow you to Emile.
Except I'm not going anywhere.
You are.
Before my jealous wife rolls over in bed and finds me gone.
She was a police officer, too, you know, before I ruined her life.
And she doesn't hide her gun in a cooler.
Oh, one more thing about the Reese murders.
And that would be? The car Price and Emile drove during the robbery? Like the UZI Never found.
Give Captain Poppins my best, will you? Chim-chim-Cher-ee.
Chim-chim-Cher-ee.
Hey, Lieutenant.
No, he looks to be in for the night.
Have we found Emile yet? Well, um, I was wondering, during Price's trial, was there anyone from the 28th Street Bloods who showed up just for Emile? Tao: His name was Greg Mann, A.
K.
A.
Buddha.
And he was only present in court during the three days Emile was testifying.
So are Buddha and Emile related? Don't know.
Maybe through the gang.
Though Buddha doesn't have a record.
Found him.
Greg Mann.
Owns a body shop in Fontana.
Fontana? That's a little out of the way.
Maybe Emile didn't want to bump into any of his old friends.
Send S.
I.
S.
to Buddha's house and see if Emile shows up there.
Amy may have had a great hunch.
Oh, more than great.
Almost inspired.
Buzz, in the off chance that you make the cut and get invited to mine and Patrice's wedding reception, what entree would you prefer we serve? Sesame chicken or ribeye? Well, I believe it's common to offer your guests a choice between Interesting to know what would happen in the unlikely event that you ever tie the knot, but I am limited by what Patrice will let me spend, and she keeps lowering the budget.
I want to go big.
I mean, this could be my very last marriage.
How many times have you said that before? So, chicken or ribeye at the Lieutenant's wedding reception? Uh, is there a pizza option? There is an uninvited option.
The reason that I called you down here Buzz.
Me? Well, uh, okay.
Um, after I did the Sharon Beck background check, I followed up on her known associates.
And her old boyfriend is currently wanted by the L.
A.
P.
D.
for armed robbery.
Really? Oh, uh Gary was following me yesterday.
What? Yeah, he was looking for my mother.
You spoke to this asshole? Only for long enough to say to leave me alone and that I didn't know where she was.
But why? Why? What did what did Gary do? Buzz has it cued up.
Oh, my God.
How stupid could he be? Putting his mask on after he started the robbery.
Well, he stole $316, four packs of Newports, and six Baby Ruths.
Provenza: Good to see he has his priorities in order.
But forget him.
Clearly there is an accomplice driving his car.
If that's my mom, then either Gary forced her to do it or she didn't know what he was about to do.
[Knock on door.]
Ah, Cooper.
Captain wants you to know that we found Emile in Fontana.
Bringing him in now.
Thank God.
I feel an arrest coming on.
Oh.
Cooper.
If you don't mind waiting for a few minutes, I I may have another job for you.
You got it.
[Clears throat.]
Before I go, I just want to say thanks a lot for being so straightforward with me yesterday about why you were looking for your mother.
Listen, Lieutenant, I I just I didn't want Buzz.
Buzz, if you can get a truthful suspect sighting from Mr.
Beck here, pass that info onto the Hollywood division.
Tell them that I have S.
I.
S.
following Mr.
Beck trying to catch this Gary creep.
You might also consider telling the Captain what happened before she hears about it some other way.
So, when and where did you first notice the suspect? In my rearview mirror on the corner of Sunset and Sweetzer.
Buzz, I-I am really sorry For misleading you.
Okay.
And what was the suspect doing when you saw him? Emile: Why are you showing me this, man? It happened a long time ago, Emile.
I thought you might need a refresher.
Recognize that weapon? Recall when you last saw it? I mean, not since that day, man.
All right.
Look, y'all, I ain't about that life no more, okay? Cooper said they could find no reason to bust Emile, so what we do after this, I don't know.
- You using again, Emile? - No, man, I'm done! I got clean when I was in prison.
I ain't never get no write-ups, no nothing.
I was a model inmate.
That's the reason why I went to Fontana, 'cause I don't even want to think about this no more, man.
How about revenge? You ever think about that? You and Daniel pull off a robbery during which Daniel shoots an off-duty cop.
You cooperate with D.
D.
A.
Gray in exchange for 12 years in prison.
What happens to Daniel? He walks away free and clear.
You pay the price and no hard feelings.
Really? Look, lady, I just told you.
Daniel don't matter to me.
What about Tamika Weaver? Does she matter to you? I don't know no Tamika.
Found an interesting number off Tamika's cell to a burner phone purchased 13 days ago in Fontana, sir.
Yeah.
With lots of calls.
Seven in five days.
Buzz.
Captain, heads up.
We're dialing a reoccurring number we found in Tamika's cellphone right now.
And Daniel, he lies.
He lie about every damn thing, all right? [Cellphone rings.]
Feel free to answer your phone.
We'll wait.
[Ringing continues.]
Funny Tamika would call your cell But you don't know her.
Are you not answering because she's dead? What? What no! Ta she dead? Huh? What? So you do know her.
You see, the reason why we're so interested in how you two were acquainted is because Tamika was also murdered with this same gun.
[Ringing continues.]
Tamika! Tamika, is that you? Flynn: Wrong guess.
You want Tamika, try the morgue.
What? No, man! I got to get out of here, y'all.
You think he enjoyed his two weeks of freedom? Sit down, Emile.
We're not done.
Come on, man.
- Emile, listen to me.
- No, no.
Not Tamika, too, man.
No! - Emile.
- No! Listen.
This is what people are going to say.
You got out of prison.
You recovered the weapon from where you'd hidden it.
- No.
No.
- You used it to kill Tamika and her baby, and you put it in his church to frame Reverend Price.
No! No, no, no! I already went over this bullshit about where I left the UZI with the detective that picked me up from Solano, okay? Detective? What detective? The one that lied during the trial and said that Daniel confessed when y'all arrested him.
Mark Hickman was at the prison when you were released, waiting for you? Yes.
And I already talked with him about this gun.
All right.
That's it.
I want Hickman here right now.
Tamika.
No.
Amy.
Change of plans.
[Siren wails.]
What? Is my blinker out? I need you to come downtown.
Look, I thought about it.
I'm gonna take you to see Emile.
No, we already have Emile.
And we know how he got to Fontana, so now you have a problem, Mark.
Don't you mean we have a problem? What if I walk into your division and explain to everyone how you and I have been collaborating? You have to decide if that's in your best interests, but you're coming downtown.
So either you get dragged out of this vehicle or we escort you to P.
A.
B.
Okay.
You know, I never say no to a really great escort, and I bet you'd make one of the best.
You might want to fix that.
The fine for a bad mirror is pretty steep.
Hey, hey, hey.
It's the whole gang.
Louie Provenza, look at you! Sitting at your old desk, all mummified.
Andy.
Steal cheating on your girlfriends? How many you juggling now? You got both hands full? Julio.
Oh, well.
And I really dig the new girl.
Yeah, boy, oh, she's miss quota hire.
You got to look like America, folks.
And Mike.
Hey, buddy.
Sold out any other cops lately? H-how's your conscience treating you? I go to bed sober.
How about yourself? Hate to interrupt your little reunion, Mr.
Hickman, but we need to talk.
That's all right, Sharon.
Call me Mark.
No need to be so formal.
Let's go to my office.
No.
No, no, no, no.
I'm not stepping into your little sewing room.
We'll talk right here.
Unless I'm under arrest.
Am I under arrest? No? Okay.
What do you want to know? All right, I'm curious as to why you drove to Solano to pick up Emile when he was released from prison.
Hey, I missed the guy.
Plus, I thought sitting in jail for over a decade might improve his memory.
Could be he finally realized where he ditched a certain murder weapon.
Emile is the key to all of this, by the way, if you're too clueless to figure that out.
Hey.
You want to watch your mouth, Hickman? No, no.
Andy, by all means, let Mark educate us.
What would you like us to know, Mark? When Emile and Daniel Price robbed the flower shop and killed Officer Reese, there was a third guy in the car waiting for them.
And the third guy knows where the gun was ditched, and that third guy ambushed Rachel Gray and her bodyguard.
And Emile Fisher knows who that third guy is.
Except why would a third guy come back after 12 years and kill Tamika Weaver? Well, if you catch him before I do, perhaps he'll tell you that.
Well, this old mummy suggests you remember you are a private citizen and this is an active investigation.
Keep it up, Mark, and I will arrest you for obstruction of justice and impersonating a police officer.
You're accusing me of impersonating a police officer? And they say irony is dead.
Let me give you a little warning, too.
Never drag me down here again unless you plan on reading me my rights.
And if Emile Fisher is here, act like cops, and get him to cough up the name of the third guy.
And you Why don't you concentrate on finding the killer instead of hassling me? I say we draw straws.
Short one gets to shoot him.
He's not worth wasting a bullet.
I'll donate one.
Tao: Nothing we can do to Mark is worse than what he's done to himself, but he's not always wrong.
If we accept that there is a third person in that car who could be charged for the murders of Officer Reese, D.
D.
A.
Gray and Eric Dunn, then we need to find out who Emile Fisher and Daniel Price are trying to protect.
This Gary is a lot of trouble.
It comes with the territory.
Well, it may not be your mother's fault.
Her record is good, she left this terrible guy, she tested clean and sober.
Then why is she staying away from me? Maybe she's not.
Maybe she's staying away from me.
If Gary is still following me, can Lieutenant Cooper just, like, shoot first and ask questions later? No, Rusty.
We want Gary arrested and convicted.
It'll be his third strike and be the best solution.
And you do understand that if Lieutenant Cooper spots Gary following you, you are not to get involved in the takedown.
Yes.
Just stand back and let the professionals do their thing.
I know.
May I ask why you waited so long to talk to me about this? I I didn't want to be an issue when you have this job offer.
I'm not sold on it anyway.
Andy is! Triple your salary, traveling all across the country, making the world safe for football.
You love football.
I do love football.
And I love the job I have, too.
And if money were that important to me, I would have left the L.
A.
P.
D.
decades ago.
But more than that, I don't want you holding back issues because you're afraid of how it will affect me.
I'm sorry.
I I guess I just I don't like the way the past keeps popping up all the time and having to explain it to people.
Tell me about it.
Emile hasn't changed his mind about talking to us.
And the guy cries a lot for an ex-con.
He keeps asking when he can leave, and we really don't have anything we can hold him on.
But Mike went looking through the sheriff records again and he found someone interesting who wasn't at Daniel Price's trial.
Who? His younger brother, Dennis.
Youth minister at Salvation Community Church.
He's on his way over here now.
Dennis Price was puffing out his chest at Tamika's crime scene, too, though he used to be a member of the 28th Street Bloods.
He nickname was, uh Okay, hold on.
Mike, did you not look closely at Dennis at the time? Very.
But he had alibis for all three murders, though they were family related You know, with his mother, uncle, aunt, so it was kind of squishy around the edges.
Plus, not showing up for his own brother's murder trial? Hmm.
Looks like he didn't want to be noticed.
[Beep.]
Okay, here he is.
Dennis Price, A.
K.
A.
"Klip.
" Three arrests for assault and one for weapons possession.
Nothing since 2009, though, ma'am.
And now he's a religious leader.
Did Daniel and all his gang find Jesus at once? Flynn: Or did they find a safe place to land to process and distribute heroin? Not to mention money laundering.
Any luck? This heroin is from the 28th Street Bloods operation, but the boy who sold it to me already has defense lawyers.
Plural.
And the dope has all been measured out in doses, so I'm sure it's cut and won't match what was in Tamika's car, which was close to pure.
Dennis Price was let into the building, and they're making his visitor badge.
Stephanie: Want me to get a D.
A.
? See if I can make a deal with our dealer? Or do you think Dennis Price will tell us something helpful? [Elevator bell dings.]
Thanks for joining us, Mr.
Price.
Oh, well, my brother and I want to help defuse tensions before innocent people get killed.
We might have to pursue some difficult topics.
I'm prepared for that.
Right this way, sir.
Dennis: Daniel and I were not nice guys back then.
You're right.
But we got older.
Wiser.
Gangbanging only ends in death or prison, and Jesus saved us from that.
He really did.
You sound like your brother.
Well, my brother's a great role model And a mentor.
I'll bet.
He mentor you on how to kill cops, too? Look, my brother He was never convicted of anything.
Like I said, those days are gone.
We found a higher purpose.
Have you, detective? I knew klip.
He's a snake charmer.
Don't fall for this bullshit.
Even the best snake charmers get bit now and then.
Tamika, she she was trying.
Her boyfriend, well You might not agree with Tamika's decisions, but her little boy He never wanted for anything.
I mean, he had a home, he had toys, clothes.
Tamika did anything for Jeremiah.
Except save his life.
Excuse my cynicism, Dennis, because while God may forgive your gangbanging past, that's not my job.
And considering that our drug dogs went wild in your church, and we found an UZI there that was used in several murders, well, it made us curious as to your whereabouts when Tamika and her little boy were shot to death.
Want to tell us where you were that night, Klip? It ain't Klip.
And is that why y'all asked me down here? 'Cause you think I killed Tamika? Oh, well, I wouldn't limit it to just that.
We could also ask where you were when D.
D.
A.
Gray and her bodyguard, Eric Dunn, were blown away.
And if you were anywhere near the flower shop when Officer Reese was shot to death.
Y'all think that I killed those people? [Chuckles.]
These murders funny to you?! No, they're not, detective.
They're tragic.
But now I see why they're never solved, because you guys waste so much time looking in the wrong places.
Look, when Tamika died, I was with my brother with our high-school kids in the lock-in until I got a call about another shooting in our community.
And as for D.
D.
A.
Gray, man, that was 12 years ago.
I can only tell you where I wasn't, which was in that parking garage where that Where that poor woman was shot.
At the time, I wasn't even 20, man.
Honestly, you guys just think way too much of me.
I doubt that.
As to the Reese murder, do you remember where you were that day? What about where you were when Jaden Harris was shot to death? Hmm? Or Dawn Greenley? Or Kayvon Wiley? All gunned down in our neighborhood, and still, not a single arrest.
And now Tamika.
You really want to check out someone for her murder? How about you find Emile Fisher? Why Emile? Because that dude is nuts.
You know why we used to call him "Easy"? Because people were always saying, "yo, Emile, take it easy, man.
Stop being so emotional.
Chill.
" He's a child Immature and dangerous.
He gets out of jail and suddenly Tamika's dead? Where was he when she died? You think he might have been grabbing a gun that he hid a long time ago and mowing down an innocent girl and her baby? So he could frame my brother by planting that UZI in our church? You know what, gentlemen? [Scoffs.]
I have a prayer group to lead.
You want to talk to me again, you contact my attorney, Peter Goldman.
I believe you have his number.
Stephanie: Yeah, Klip always has great answers, and he certainly was quick to throw Emile under the bus.
But his opinion matches up with Hickman's.
And if Emile is covering for a third person Maybe analyzing the new heroin will help? Mark probably knows a lot more than he told us.
- [Door opens, closes.]
- Not a lot of help right now.
So let's try to question Emile one more time.
I don't have any leverage.
Do I? Flynn: We may not need it.
He cooperated with the police before.
Emile: Do you know what being a snitch does to a guy in prison? Huh? I spent the last 12 years scared for my life! And where were y'all then? Huh? Emile, all we want to know is the day Officer Reese died, was there a third person in the car with you and Daniel Price? Do you know, lady, I could get killed just 'cause you picked me up? Do you know that?! Help us and we can protect you.
No, you can't! Who was Tamika Weaver to you, and why were you calling each other? Do you not care who killed her? Cooperate with us and we can find I'm not cooperating myself back into a prison cell.
And you write that down.
I ain't got nothing else to say to you people, man.
Ever! You hear me? Yeah.
Duly noted, pal.
[Door opens.]
Right this way.
I wish we had something on him that looked like a felony.
'Cause he's seriously afraid of prison.
I wonder what he'd tell us to avoid going back? Okay, Alamo.
You're sure our target didn't make you after he gave up following Rusty? Don't nod, damn it.
Okay, the two of us will take care of this.
[Sneezes.]
I'm sorry.
My allergies were just crazy right now.
- Gary! - Gary, stop! Stop! L.
A.
P.
D.
! Hey, hey, hey! [Sighs.]
Allergies, huh? I'll be sure to include that in my after-action report.
[Radio chirps.]
Hey.
We lost sight of the suspect, but he is in the car.
Mark: What is wrong with you people, huh? You let Emile go? How is that possible? Hey, Mark.
Hold your voice down.
Why is that crazy addict not in a cell somewhere? Because we didn't arrest him.
Don't answer his questions.
Mr.
Hickman, you've misused your visitor's badge and re-entered a restricted area.
Why not make something up? He's a cop-killer.
- He's protecting others.
- Hey! You want to find your way out of here? Careful, Andy.
You want to watch your blood pressure.
Mark, give us your visitor's badge and go! It's not enough you ruin my career.
You have to ruin this case again, too? Now, what's the matter, Mike? Afraid I was right? That Daniel Price is responsible for all these murders? And because you helped him walk, this new girl and her son ended up dead? Julio, stand down.
Andy, no one touches him.
This is not a use-of-force situation.
You knew Price was guilty, and we had him, Mike.
We had him.
But then you lied, you shithead, and screwed things up.
No.
You didn't lie and screwed it up.
And look what happened! Just so you could keep your pension.
And another thing Next time you want to have me followed, you might want to try someone that doesn't stand out so much at a marina.
Mr.
Hickman, this is your last warning.
Give us your visitor's badge and get out.
Oh, my God.
Is he drunk? Mike.
Mike! Do not let this escalate! Too late.
Okay, everyone, just calm down.
Calm down! Captain, please.
Please.
They're old partners.
Just just give them five seconds to work this out.
One Two.
Mark, give me your visitor's badge.
Go back to your video games.
Play with your joystick.
Ooh! You can't win with the facts, so you want to make it physical.
- Tao.
Tao! - Is that it? - Hold on a second! - Ooh! Yeah, you'd love it, wouldn't you? You'd love it if I assaulted a police officer, huh? Wouldn't you? Aah! - Apologize.
- You're doing this to me? - Instead of Emile? - Apologize to all the people you let down! - What?! - Apologize - No! - For making us all look like crooks for lying on the stand.
- No! - Apologize.
I haven't done anything you all haven't done.
Apologize.
You're not getting off the ground - until you apologize for everything! - No.
Never.
I don't give a shit.
What's everything? You didn't think I had your back when you were sleeping with Rachel Gray? - Oh.
Oh, okay.
Okay, I get it.
- How many times did I cover your crap with your wife?! I get it.
You can cross the line now and physically abuse a witness, but getting a cop-killer is off limits.
Is that it? Yeah, I'm really sorry you're all a bunch of hypocrites! - There's your apology.
- [Elevator bell dings.]
That's enough, Mike.
You don't know anything we don't know! I know the guy Emile's living with runs a chop shop, Officer Genius.
Bye.
[Panting.]
[Sighs.]
Is that enough to get a warrant to search Buddha's auto shop? A former cop alerts us to criminal activity? Yeah, I think so.
But I don't care how you or anyone else here feels about Mark Hickman.
When I give you an order to avoid force or stand down, I expect you to do just that.
Sanchez: But We couldn't let him keep the visitor's badge, ma'am.
The madder Hickman gets, the more likely he is to give us something useful.
Look, if this Buddha guy is really running a chop shop, maybe Emile will talk to save him.
We'll deal with that in a second.
Mike.
Is it true that Mark Hickman was having an affair with D.
D.
A.
Gray? Yes.
But Hickman has had affairs with lots of women.
Look.
I don't think we need to drag that all back up again.
Oh, I think we do, Lieutenant.
In fact, we have a big discussion ahead of us.
But first, let's pay Buddha a visit and see if it gives us another crack at Emile.
Sykes: L.
A.
P.
D.
Everyone stop where they are! Provenza: If you would lower your wrenches and assume a seated position with your hands clearly visible, it would be greatly appreciated.
What the hell is this? Hold up, dawg.
Greg Mann, A.
K.
A.
Buddha, I presume.
Well, we have reason to believe that you are working rapidly on these vehicles without their owners' permission.
Flynn.
We have a warrant to search this place for illegal parts or modifications, including stolen merchandise and illicit substances.
Chill.
Chill, man.
All my stuff is clean.
- [Handcuffs click.]
- We're good here.
Now, I got nothing you all will care about except insomnia, and I got a weed card for the pot.
Yeah, people keep saying that.
Why don't you get down on the floor right here, Buddha, and we'll check on all of that.
This isn't necessary, officer.
You're really big, and I really can't shoot you.
Tao: No work orders matching up to the plates on half these vehicles.
I say we shut this place down and search it inch by inch.
Hey, no.
You You don't have to do that.
Please don't do that.
Look, I'm cooperating.
Ah, the magic word.
"Cooperating.
" Well, we have a consent form allowing us to search your house.
For what? Emile Fisher and controlled substances.
[Sighs.]
Well, I can't sign it with my hands cuffed behind my back.
Buzz.
Just talk to me.
I'm going close on your face.
Say you give us consent to search your house.
[Sighs.]
I give you consent to check my house for Emile Fisher.
There.
Happy? [Doorbell rings.]
Maybe he's got headphones on.
Mike has the key.
Let's just go in.
We don't need permission.
Um, Sanchez.
You and Sykes go around back in case this guy decides to try and take off.
Okay.
All right.
Tao, you're Mr.
Aggressive today.
You go in first.
[Knock on door.]
Hello? Anyone home? L.
A.
P.
D.
You sure this was the place your mother was staying? Yeah, according to Gus.
What do you see? Stay here, Jump Street.
What's in there, Lieutenant? Classic signs of a struggle.
Alamo: Clear! And my mom's gone.
Hey, don't worry.
We're going to find her, all right? First things first, I got to get S.
I.
D.
in here.
Yo.
S-sir! Sykes: Looks like an overdose.
His gang name was Easy.
Maybe he decided to take the easy way out.
Flynn: Or maybe he wasn't as sober as he said he was.
Sanchez: Must have caught a hot load.
Provenza: Or maybe someone thought that he might talk to us after all.
Buzz! All right.
Let's get started on this mess, or we'll be in Fontana the rest of our lives.
Buzz: Oh, no.
What happened? Buzz, did you document the needle? Yes, sir.
Emile was murdered.
That's what happened.
