Beverly Hills, 90210 (1990) s04e30 Episode Script

Vital Signs

Jesse, you're supposed to be studying.
I was taking a break.
Looks more like a full shift to me.
Sorry, I got carried away.
Jesse, you have weeks to finish that cradle.
Your law finals are now.
You gotta hit your books, counselor.
All right, all right.
The defense rests.
Hey, you been crying? No.
Just having that same old nightmare.
I'm glad the alarm went off for my 3:00 pill.
At least it was over fast.
- Same dream? - I don't know.
I mean, it was worse.
This time I'm in a forest.
I keep hearing this baby crying and crying.
And I was looking everywhere for it, but just like all the other dreams, the baby can't be found anywhere, and all I hear is crying.
Come on, come on, don't read so much into it.
Yeah.
Look, I'm gonna be fine.
After three weeks of bed rest and taking those damn pills every four hours, I'm not gonna let any nightmares get to me.
That's what I wanna hear.
And who knows, we go for a second opinion tomorrow, maybe the new doctor will take you off those damn pills.
Besides, if our child was lost in the woods, I'd be right there searching with you.
I know you would.
Jim, here it is, in the L.
A.
Times calendar section, under the "Best of the Weekend.
" Hey, that's impressive.
"Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, tonight at 8, directed by Roy Randolph, starring Brenda Walsh as Maggie.
" Oh, my God, why am I getting nervous? Just don't tell Brenda.
Well, I see you finally got yourself a maid, Mom.
Well, he's making up for being out of town on Mother's Day.
Always leave it to the accountant to balance his books.
- Fry on, big Daddy.
- Hey, there's plenty for you.
No, that's all right, I gotta go pick up the task force handbooks.
They should be finished with them now.
I wanna get them over to the chancellor's office.
- I'll catch you at the theater.
- Don't be late.
Now, would I do something like that? You're gonna be great.
Bye, guys.
Well, one daughter starring on the stage, son going off to Washington to meet the president, we must be doing something right.
Well, I'll let you know as soon as I've tasted your omelet.
Honey, it's your opening night.
You should have slept in.
No, I'm fine.
You know, I figure after a month of rehearsals, when the curtain goes up, Maggie will be there.
Well, you should know.
Oh, I got the whole ticket mess straightened out.
You guys will be sitting with Donna and David.
- Oh, that's good.
- Yeah, it is.
Steve never went to go pick up his free ticket, so I had something to trade.
- Steve's not going? - I offered, he declined.
That's his problem.
I have a show to do.
Dylan.
Dylan, are you asleep? Dylan, wake up.
- Erica? - Sorry, Kelly.
This is an emergency.
- What's going on? - We're moving.
What? I'm not supposed to know.
But yesterday when Mom and Kevin thought I was outside playing, I heard them.
They said we were moving to South America.
No, that can't be right.
Talk to them.
Okay, give me the phone.
I'll call them right now.
You don't have to.
They're just outside in the living room.
They're outside in the living room? Okay, you go on, go ahead.
I'll be out in a second.
Okay.
She could have just as easily come in when we were making love.
Just let me deal with this first, okay? Let me tell you, these have pump up ones with the heels.
- Big pump up ones with heels.
- Good morning.
- Hey, man, how you doing? - All right.
Believe me, we are sorry to bother you, but Erica insisted we stop by.
She's getting new sneakers today and says you're the only one who knows the right kind.
Well, it would seem that traveling shoes may be in order, as I hear a rumor that you guys are moving to South America? - What? - Boy, something's screwy here.
- But I heard you talking.
- You should have just asked me.
We have been talking about maybe relocating for Kevin's business, but to the Southwest, not to South America.
Yeah, sweetie, the furthest we ever talked about going was Arizona.
I told you we were moving.
Kevin, what happened to the company in Irvine you talked to? They were interested, but I realized I'd just be getting back on the same corporate treadmill.
No, if this thing is gonna work, I have gotta set up my own shop.
I hear you, I'd just hate to see you go.
Me too, but unfortunately, most of the investors I've talked to do not wanna start up a new business venture in L.
A.
But I don't wanna leave Dylan.
Oh, neither do I, but whatever has to be has to be.
Arizona's not that far.
- Hi, Kelly.
- Hi, Kelly.
Hi, guys.
I was just coming by to pick some stuff up, and now I'm leaving.
Okay.
I still think you should be with Brenda.
- Pass.
Next one.
- David.
Donna, it's not right for the C.
U.
Mardi Gras.
You can't dance to it.
At least let me play one all the way through.
Look, the Inter-Greek Council chose me to be entertainment chairman because they trust my taste.
Okay, fine.
Look, I'm just trying to speed things up here.
Why don't you give me the group list? Maybe we can narrow things down.
Okay, but don't tell me they all suck, because I have to line someone up, okay? Here we go, 200 task force handbooks hot off the presses.
Can I take them inside? No, no, just leave them here.
I'll distribute them.
- Okay.
- Don't forget yours.
Thanks.
Oh, look, here's the foreword you did.
You must be very proud.
Yeah, it's pretty good.
I used the condor as an image for public education.
Both are nearly extinct.
- Well, everything looks together.
- No, not quite.
Right here on page 3, here's a goof.
My name's not on the list of delegates traveling to Washington.
Who did the final proof? Well, Chancellor Arnold did it himself right before he left with Clare for Europe.
Well, it must be some kind of oversight, huh? You better ask him yourself.
Okay, I'll just be a minute.
Hold on, Brandon.
He explicitly said he didn't wanna be disturbed.
Oh, all right, forget it.
It's probably just some kind of mistake, right? - I'm sorry I kept you waiting so long.
- It's all right.
Thank you, Dr.
Gordon.
I'm just glad to be out of bed.
Good.
I'm glad your spirits are up.
Now, I've been going over the results of the tests we ran.
- I've been taking my pills faithfully.
- I understand.
But as far as controlling your preterm labor is concerned, I'm afraid the pills aren't working as well as we'd hoped.
And your pelvic exams shows that you've dilated another centimeter.
How can that be? But what's more disturbing is the ultrasound.
There's evidence now of a serious excess of amniotic fluid.
Is that why I've been so swollen? Yes, and it probably caused your preterm contractions as well.
- Just how serious is it? - It's very serious.
I'd have to say that in the last week, the condition has become dangerous.
Dangerous for the health of your child.
I'm sorry, but I think it's now highly unlikely that you'll be able to carry your baby to term.
It will almost certainly have to be delivered in a few weeks.
Maybe a few days.
- Days? - I'm only 27 weeks pregnant.
That's why my first recommendation is for you to check in to the hospital as soon as possible, maybe even tonight, so that we can monitor both you and the baby.
We have to try to prolong this pregnancy as long as we possibly can.
In this situation, even one additional week can make the difference in the health of your baby.
Tonight we were supposed to start our Lamaze classes.
I understand that this must seem all very sudden to you.
But the last thing we need is for your water to break and force our hand.
Dr.
Gordon, you said it was highly unlikely that Andrea would go full term, but there is a chance she could with hospital care, right? There are always miracles.
But you both need to know and be prepared for the fact that you will almost certainly have a premature child.
Now, with a premature baby, there are a whole new set of complications.
Often in cases where there's an excess of amniotic fluid, we need to do additional prenatal tests.
Brandon, what are you doing here? Muntz told me where you were.
I thought I'd give you a hand.
- Thanks.
- How you doing? I'll be all right.
You? Don't get me started.
So this is it for Laura here, huh? Yeah, I promised her parents I'd make sure everything got shipped back to Fresno.
What the hell.
Well, you are a man, my friend.
- How's she doing anyway? - Well Her parents say she'll be all right, but she'll be under someone's care for a while.
Apparently, it's not the first time she tried to kill herself.
Well, then, it's nothing you did.
Hey, what about the play tonight? I hope you changed your mind.
I'd like to patch things up with Brenda, but I can't go to this play.
It's too bizarre.
Yell at me if you have to but Hey, this is between you and Brenda.
But the girl did take a lot of grief for something she didn't do.
I tried to apologize to Brenda, but she told me to go take a flying leap.
Maybe I can't go for Laura's sake.
This was so important to her, just And to think I called you a man.
Let's face it, Walsh, maybe we both have weakness for women whose elevators don't quite reach the penthouse.
Or is Clare out of your system? Oh, Clare is gone, but the curse of Clare remains.
It looks like I may miss out on this trip to Washington because of her.
What's going on? I don't know.
Something's going on.
My name wasn't on the traveling list in the handbook.
It can't be a coincidence.
Maybe it's just a mix-up.
You should talk to your buddy the chancellor.
Believe me, I've tried, but ever since he got back from Europe, he's been tied up.
I don't know, I'm sensing some strained vibes.
And all I did was not lay a hand on his wild-child daughter and tell him the truth about it.
What's so funny? I'm just not used to seeing you sweat, Walsh.
Usually that's my department.
OPENING TONIGHT Cat on a Hot Tin Roof Tip of the tongue, the teeth, the lips.
Tip of the tongue, the teeth, the lips.
Tip of the tongue Break a Leg And I thought I was the only maniac who comes in two hours before curtain up.
How are you, darling? - I feel ready.
- Good.
What's that? Did you get an opening-night gift? I think so.
Open it.
Oh, my, I haven't seen one of those in years.
That is a treasure.
What is it? It's an old tradition of the theater.
It's a St.
Genesius medal.
He's considered the patron saint of actors.
It protects the wearer against a bad performance by inspiring the actor to greatness.
- Or so the story goes.
- It's beautiful.
I'd say it came from someone quite special.
Dylan I would say you were right.
That's the end of that.
A lot of good taking my pills did.
Come on, honey, don't get mad.
Jesse, I'm not mad.
It just doesn't make sense to me.
Dr.
Haller said one thing, Dr.
Gordon another.
I mean, don't you think he could've been mistaken? Andrea, Dr.
Gordon is one of the best in L.
A.
You've been saying yourself all along that something was wrong.
What do I know? We're gonna get through this.
I don't know, Jesse, maybe Maybe it's all my fault.
I mean, maybe it's because I worked around all those cats.
And people say pregnant women shouldn't be around them.
Come on, Andrea, that's nothing but an old wives' tale.
Or maybe it was because I kept getting out of bed when I shouldn't have, I - I just know it's my fault.
- Hey, it is not your fault.
Dr.
Gordon said that sometimes it's just bad luck.
But when is the bad luck gonna end? Are these nightmares coming true? Maybe we're gonna lose the baby.
Hey, we are not going to lose the baby.
How do you know? How do I know? Come here.
Oh, Jesse, when did you finish it? You know something, I don't know.
I worked through the night, the morning, and believe me, there's no way I did all this work for nothing.
Oh, it's perfect.
We are coming back here with our baby.
Of course we are.
Brenda was so awesome.
I tell you, she was so good in that big monologue at the end, I thought whole audience stopped breathing.
Yeah.
She was really great, wasn't she, Kelly? You know what, kid, Kel tried out for the part, so she may have a different interpretation.
Actually, I thought she was outstanding.
Good, then it's unanimous.
Guys, come on, let's go backstage.
Yeah, let's go.
Our little Brenda's never gonna be the same again.
What a job she did.
I'm still shaking.
Remind me to kick Steve's butt for missing this one.
Guys, I'll catch you at the party.
I just saw the chancellor, excuse me.
Chancellor.
Chancellor Arnold, chancellor.
Brandon, your sister was magnificent.
Thank you, but listen, about the task force Not now, Brandon, we're late for our reservations.
That's all right, I'll talk to you tomorrow.
Brandon, I'm just swamped tomorrow.
You know how it is.
Bren, you were fabulous.
- Absolutely.
- Thanks, guys.
Yeah, it was so exciting to see it all come together.
I couldn't have done it without your help.
Really? And here was I thinking I had a hand in it too.
There's a fellow from Portland Rep whose dying to meet you.
- See you guys later.
- Yeah.
Well, if she can't ignore us, who can she ignore, right? - We better get out of here.
- Oh, I know.
I have a meeting with Babyface's management in the morning.
- Will you tell Brenda? - Absolutely.
Okay, bye.
After Randolph's warm welcome, I think I'll be leaving too.
If only I could find Dylan.
So, what kind of investments are you talking about? Well, it's a biochemical company.
What they're doing is cleaning up the environment.
Our firm's done a lot of work in that sector.
- Well - Jim, come over.
I want you to meet Eddie, Roy Randolph's stage manager.
- He's from New York.
- Our friends live in New York.
- Oh, yeah, where? - Buffalo.
Uptown or downtown? Why don't you drop by the office on Monday? I'll show you some of the research.
I think Monday's gonna be a little too late.
How about tomorrow? - All right, what about the afternoon? - Thank you.
- All right, we'll see you then.
- All right.
What was that all about? Oh, I'm thinking of making an investment in Kevin's company.
What, you don't approve? I have no say in what you do with your money.
That's why you have Jim.
So can we go now? Yeah.
I've just gotta drag Erica away from that party.
Would you look at her? She always wanted a big sister.
Andrea, you want me to call the gang? No, thanks.
It's hard enough keeping our parents away after we called them.
I'd rather just I'd rather just settle in tonight.
We can call everyone else in the morning.
All right.
There we go.
Now we can keep track of you and the baby.
Is that the fetal monitor? It monitors the baby's heart rate.
- What's normal? - Anywhere between 110 and 160.
You can see, your baby has a strong heart.
It does, doesn't it? My name's Dottie and I'll be here all night if you need me.
And Dr.
Gordon will be by in the morning.
- Thank you, Dottie.
- Okay.
- Good night.
- Good night.
Want me to run downstairs and pick up a magazine or something? No, I'm exhausted.
Hey, what time is your Constitutional Law final tomorrow? It doesn't matter.
I'm not leaving you tonight.
What are you gonna do, sit here and watch the baby's heart rate? - Maybe.
- Crazy.
It's amazing, huh? He really does have a strong heart.
She.
Now go and ace that test.
All right.
But no bad dreams, okay? No bad dreams.
- Good night.
- Good night.
- Good morning, Miss Taylor.
- Good morning, Mr.
Walsh.
What are you doing here so early on a Saturday? I'm not waiting for the library to open.
I'm on a stakeout.
What? Trying to catch the chancellor before he goes in.
He's been kind of blowing me off lately.
Well, does this have anything to do with Clare? L' Affaire de Clare, what else? Once again, I play by the rules and I get burned.
Look, my name is conspicuously absent from the traveling roster.
Not to mention the fact that everyone else got their tickets yesterday except me.
- This has gotta be a mistake.
- Nope, I'm afraid I have to face facts.
I'm not going to Washington, I'm not gonna meet the president, I'm not gonna pass Go and collect $200, this is just the way it is.
You know, you sound exactly like the psych paper I'm writing.
People, like, imagine the very worst thing that could happen to them, and then it actually happens.
It's called self-fulfilling prophecy.
Kel, don't analyze my torment.
Just comfort me.
I know, I'm sorry.
Everything's gonna be okay.
It's gonna be peachy-weachy.
So raise that chin and lose that dark cloud.
"Peachy-weachy"? I'm sorry, it's the only thing I could come up with this early.
Oh, here he is.
- Good luck.
- Thanks.
Hi, Peggy, I thought you were the chancellor.
- Where is he? - Already in the office returning calls.
You think it'd be all right if I saw him? I wouldn't.
It's not going to be a good day.
Sorry.
Sorry, it's taking a little longer than I expected.
Well, I don't have anywhere to be.
Okay.
- Sorry, go ahead.
- That's okay, I just work here.
Welcome to hip-hop central.
Thanks.
So who are you waiting for? My girlfriend, actually.
She's booking Babyface for the C.
U.
Carnival.
And to think I had you pegged as a gangster-rap artist.
No, my taste is a little more old school.
Oh, yeah, mine too.
O'Jays, George Clinton, Jackson Five? You're getting warmer, but a little more jazz for me.
So you like a little sax in your funk? Well, I like players who can really play.
You're a musician.
Yeah, I'm a music major at C.
U.
I had a pretty kicking rap single last year, but it didn't make much noise.
You know, I've been putting this band together.
- A couple of college guys, studio rats.
- I'd love to hear them.
Why don't you come to a rehearsal and jam with them? - Really? - Hey, I'm a junior rep here, which is one step above gofer.
So unless I wanna be making coffee forever, I better find the next big thing, you know? Yeah.
Why don't you call me? I'm Ariel Hunter.
- David Silver.
- Great.
I'll be looking forward to hearing from you.
Wait a second.
You mean, the company that you wanna invest in is being started by Suzanne's boyfriend? No, not just boyfriend, fiancé.
And besides, you spent the last half hour convincing me what a great sector this is for the serious investor.
Well, it is, but I'd like to know a little bit more about Kevin.
That's what I want too.
Okay, why don't you bring him over to the office on Monday, we? Monday's no good, he'll be in Arizona talking to investors.
- I was thinking about tomorrow.
- Tomorrow's Sunday.
All right.
What are you and Kevin doing for brunch tomorrow? - That's better.
- Great.
But first, I gotta go upstairs and clear it with the boss.
Miss Maggie, I figured you'd be on cloud nine about now.
Jim told me about the review in The Condor.
Yes, it was very generous.
It described how I lit up the stage with desperation and passion, possessing a maturity beyond my years.
Could this possibly be the same girl that I took fishing the day after she dropped out of Minnesota? Well, there is a vague resemblance.
Although, going fishing with you was one of the best times I had all year.
Better than starring in the play? Close.
You know, I never got to properly thank you for my present.
- I think it worked.
- Well, I'm glad.
And through all the audition craziness, you were really the only one who stood by me.
Thank you.
- Brenda - Dylan You go first.
I was just gonna excuse myself.
I have to get to the theater.
What were you gonna say? Have a good show.
Donna, you shouldn't have.
I already got so much stuff from my parents, Jesse's parents, Grandma Rose.
An Etch A Sketch? How great.
Well, when I was having my tonsils out, it helped me through a long hospital stay.
Thank you.
- Here, check out the book.
- There's a book? - "Color Therapy and Pregnancy"? - Yeah.
I got it at this woman's bookstore.
It is so neat.
It explains if you're having trouble with your pregnancy, you need to white light the negativity.
And then you imagine pink all around your heart because that's love.
And then your baby will know that it's wanted.
Thank you.
I love it.
- So how you doing? - Good.
I just lined up this terrific headline act for the Mardi Gras.
And David just got invited to sit in with this new band at a jam session.
I'm gonna go over and meet him at this Hollywood recording studio.
Wow, that's so exciting.
You have to tell Jesse.
When he heard David play at your apartment, he thought David was so talented.
Well, David is talented.
And Jesse's no slouch either.
He's been such a rock.
Jesse, hey, I got your message, man.
I'm glad you're here.
Donna's in with her right now.
How you doing? I feel like I'm upside down.
I still have to call all of Andrea's professors.
She's not gonna be able to finish the semester.
That's all right.
She can make it up next semester.
Yeah, it's just been hard.
Everything's changed so fast.
You know, Brandon, I could never tell Andrea this but, man, I am scared to death.
The best we're gonna have is a premature child.
What kind of chance will the kid have to be normal? Oh, come on, lots of kids are born early.
Yeah, but if it's a boy and he's small, he'll get picked on.
That's not necessarily true.
And besides, you might have a girl.
That's what we're hoping for.
We found out girl preemies have a much better survival rate.
Oh, Dr.
Gordon's here.
Come on.
Everything's stable, but I'd like to do an amnio.
Amniocentesis, why? To determine the baby's sex? Maybe you'd be more comfortable if we didn't discuss this with friends.
No, that's okay, they're like family.
Why do I need an amnio? Well, in cases of excessive fluid like yours, there's a 3 percent chance of the baby being born with birth defects.
It's a high enough number that we should check.
Don't even think about it.
I won't.
We're gonna white light all negativity, right? - Think pink.
- Pink.
- Hey, P.
K.
- Yeah? There's an alien at your stack.
All right, knock it off, you guys.
This is the keyboardist I was telling you kooks about.
David Silver, I'd like you to meet Carlos, Lenny and P.
K.
- How's it going? - What up? Dude, you look familiar.
You with that sorry group, Slinger? No.
I go to C.
U.
Oh, yeah? I went there a semester.
Damn, I know we've met.
Yeah, look, I'm sorry, the technician let me in.
I guess I'm a little early.
No, I think we were a little bit late.
But why don't you stick with that riff you were playing? That was great.
And you guys just warm into it, okay? Come on, come on.
Get up to your drums, Carlos.
Whenever you're ready, David.
B, your old man was unbelievable.
I thought he was gonna put me and Kevin on the back burner.
He said if he likes what he hears tomorrow, the firm will probably get behind it, they'll do it up right.
- Sounds like Jim smells money.
- That's my dad.
Well, good luck with it.
What? You're coming to the brunch, right? - I wasn't invited.
- Kel, of course you're invited.
Then I'd love to come if you want me there.
Kel, I think that's what he just said.
Look, if she can't make it, I can.
What's the grub? Stop it.
I'll go.
I can now die a happy man.
I have seen the definitive performance of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, by our own, incomparable, Brenda Walsh.
Thank you, thank you.
- Good show tonight, sis? - Even better than opening night.
Your sister has the makings of a fine actress, assuming she gets herself some classical training.
You know, actually, she does have some classical training.
What was the name of that play you did where you almost took your clothes off? Yeah, that's right.
Steve actually came to that play.
Brenda, I said I was sorry for everything.
Talk is cheap, Steve.
Look, tomorrow's the last performance.
It's a matinee.
Well, I guess there's not really much point in asking them to join us.
I said I was sorry.
The girl's never gonna forgive me.
- See the play.
- See the play, Steve.
Hi.
You were dreaming, weren't you? Yeah, how did you know? Pregnant women dream a lot.
Some of them are quite telling.
Oh, I hope so.
I've been having the same horrible nightmare for days.
But this one, it was different.
I finally found my baby.
It was tiny, but, oh, it was perfect.
Sounds like your nightmare's over.
All right.
He's great.
All right, all right, man, way to go, my boy D is in the house.
- Full props, man.
- Thanks, man, I was jumping.
Yeah, dude, you can play with this band any day.
- Great chops.
- Thanks, man.
You know, after I got out of the whole DJ thing, I kind of got my act together.
Hold on.
Now I know where I've seen you.
You're the radio guy that used to hang out at Mr.
Andy's room.
Yeah, yeah, that's me.
It was a while ago.
Wait, hold on, one second, if you do that whole radio thing, you must know my man Howard, right? Yeah.
Yeah, I know Howard.
Well, you're gonna feel right at home, because Lenny just happens to have a gram of orange juice right in his bag.
David, you make me look like a genius.
You can really play.
Hey, thanks.
It was a blast.
David, that was terrific.
So when Ariel asked, I had to say yes.
- I hope you don't mind.
- Asked what? If Donna could book you guys as the opening act for Babyface.
- All right.
- Hey, that's our first gig.
- But we don't have any songs.
- Well, there's plenty of time.
I brought you some tunes from my office.
Why don't you go through and pick out a few you like? I trust your taste.
David, you're gonna fit right in with this band.
Hi, Brandon, what are you doing here on a Sunday? Well, I was over at the chancellor's place and his housekeeper told me he was in his office.
Yes, he is.
There's been so much to catch up on since he's been gone.
I'm sure, but I'm going in anyway.
- No, you're not.
- Yes, I am.
No, you're not.
Chancellor Arnold, I'm sorry.
I did try to stop him.
Yes, she did.
You got a great employee here, sir.
Just great.
Excuse us, please.
- Just what do you think you're doing? - I'm looking for a reprieve, sir.
Okay, I admit I was attracted to your daughter.
- Brandon - Okay, I was very attracted to her.
But I never laid a hand on her, sir.
Never.
- Brandon - No "Brandons", please, just listen.
I worked my guts out for this task force and just because you can't handle the truth about your daughter, doesn't mean I should lose my chance to go to Washington.
- What? You're going to Washington.
- Right, right.
Then where are my airline tickets? And how come my name was purposely left out of the handbook? There was a printer error on the master list, I imagine.
Which is probably why you didn't get your tickets either.
Why would you think otherwise? You're my point man for the whole California contingent, for God's sake.
- So I'm really going? - Absolutely.
And I admire the way you handled my daughter.
Someone had to put her in her place.
Well, I was just double-checking.
No big deal.
Hey, Jim, it's okay to use your fingers.
Thank you, Dylan.
So Suzanne was saying you were in the Army Corps of Engineers? Yeah, I signed up right after I graduated from Cal Poly.
Oh, that's a wonderful school.
Well, it was for me.
It's the first time that I started playing around with microorganisms to help clean up the environment.
Yeah, where'd you ever get that idea, anyway? I was trying to develop a self-cleaning fish tank.
- So you've always been an inventor.
- I'd say more of a dabbler.
Oh, not true.
If I could harness half of your creative energies, I'd be a rich woman.
Not if you had my timing.
Well, sometimes it takes a little time to get all the elements in place.
Yeah, well, in my case, Jim, it's taken 20 years.
And I can just kick myself for not doing it sooner.
Why is that? Because in that 20 years, we've done an awful lot of damage to the bay.
Really, the oceans are getting so polluted, it's a wonder we'll ever make it to next century.
Well, that's why this can be such a profitable venture.
If the profit is there, the investors will be lining up.
Just make sure they're lining up behind me.
Since when did you become such a capitalist? Since I met Kevin.
Andrea's on another floor having some test.
I wanna wait.
Okay.
You haven't said a word about the tapes you listened to this morning.
Any good material? Yeah, yeah, it was excellent.
Gosh, talk about the right place at the right time.
If you hadn't come with me, this never would have happened.
Look, Donna, if you wanna book Ariel's band, you can.
But I've made up my mind.
I'm moving on.
Wait a second.
You're just as good a player as all the others, maybe better.
Thanks.
But I can't go down that road again.
Donna, those guys are all drug hounds.
Why didn't you tell me? Because I've been trying to rationalize how it can work.
But I know as soon as I get in with those guys, I'll be right back in the speed zone.
Look, I'm not booking them.
I'll make up some excuse.
And I'm canceling Babyface too.
No, no, no, that's not Babyface's scene.
He's got a reputation as being a class act in the business.
So much for my Mardi Gras, huh? Well, you can still give me a hand with Babyface.
You know, help out with the stage crew or the lights, or I'm sorry.
I guess that's kind of a comedown from performing, huh? - Tell Andrea I'll be by tonight.
- Sure.
Am I gonna see you tonight? I'll call you.
Dylan, what's going on with us? I mean, take away the sex and we have no relationship.
I don't know.
Some kind of communication breakdown? The question is, is it fixable? Are you willing to forget everything that happened in the last few weeks? I could do that.
Consider it fixed.
I'll see you later.
- Kel, thanks for coming to the brunch.
- You're welcome.
I think that Jim was really impressed by Kevin.
Well, what's not to be impressed about? Pretty soon he's gonna be a regular moneymaking machine.
What, did I say something? - No.
- You sure? Because you're biting your lip.
Listen to yourself, you're already spending your profits.
So, what's wrong with me wanting to make a buck? The fact is that ever since Suzanne moved here, you've changed.
- Okay.
- Why don't you just? Why don't you just keep grinding that ax? Because that's what this is about.
You resent Suzanne, you resent Erica, anything that takes my attention away from you for a little while.
I see.
You know, I think we were both wrong.
I don't think this is fixable.
You know what, maybe you were right.
I think we need to start seeing other people.
Yeah, I know how that song goes.
You should.
You taught it to me, remember? So this is it? That's what it looks like.
Brenda, it was a real pleasure working with you.
I hope we can do it again.
Thanks, Tom.
Brenda, I just wanna tell you, you weren't half bad.
Thanks.
From Eddie, that's the highest compliment you can get.
As for me, I didn't expect to come here and actually find an actress.
If only she had the proper training.
Training you can get.
Talent is innate.
Thanks, Roy.
Steve.
If I'd known you were in the audience, I would've worked harder.
Brenda, you were great.
I'm glad I came.
I'm glad you came too.
Enough to forgive me? Yeah, enough.
My makeup, I'm so sorry.
New jacket? - Hey, you just missed everybody.
- That's all right.
I didn't come here to see anyone else.
I just came here to see you.
Why are you so happy? Well, I leave for Washington later today.
What could be the matter? - Brandon, that's great.
- I guess it is.
And how are you doing? Any change since yesterday? No, which is good news.
I just have to hang in there for the long haul.
I'm still hoping to take this baby to term.
Yeah.
Sorry, Brandon, you have to step out.
Dr.
Gordon's on his way to examine.
No, problem.
I slip in, I slip out.
I'm getting to know my way around this hospital.
- Just don't practice any surgery.
- I know.
Tell Brenda thanks for the flowers.
Steve too.
You got it.
Honey, you need anything? Do? Jesse, you gotta call Dr.
Gordon.
I think my water just broke.
- Are you sure? - Yeah.
Hey, Andrea, take it easy.
Brandon, this can't be happening.
It just can't be.
Just relax, okay? Everything's gonna be fine.
Just take it easy.
Don't worry, everything's gonna be fine.
Dr.
Gordon, I was just laughing.
Yes, we have a rupture.
We better get her up to Labor and Delivery right away.
She could have this baby at any moment.
I'm sorry, Andrea.
- No, it's too soon.
It's just too soon.
- We'll do everything we can.
- Everything's gonna be all right.
- No, it's not.
Just listen to the doctor.
I'm not going until the baby's delivered.
- Andrea, everything's gonna be okay.
- No, it's not.
This is all wrong.
