Paranormal Witness (2011) s05e02 Episode Script
They are Mine
1 [haunting music.]
[police sirens wailing.]
Here's to our first dinner in our new house.
It was in a pretty bad area.
You girls be sure and lock your door at night.
We had no other options.
[breathing heavily.]
[glass shatters.]
Kristin, Lindsay, get in here! Something's not right.
[screaming.]
It's okay, it's okay, it's okay, it's okay.
Kristin's covered in blood.
Kristin! Oh, my God, what's happening? She's just screaming her head off.
I'm really scared.
I don't know what to do.
You need to get out of the house right now.
[screaming.]
Stop! I thought I was gonna die.
[evil shrieking.]
[haunting music.]
[woman humming.]
[mellow guitar music.]
I was in my senior year of college.
I was an animation major.
Everything that I'd been doing for the last four years had been leading up to this, my graduation.
[phone chiming.]
Hey, Kristin! Hey! Me and Lindsay bonded with each other almost instantly.
Mwah, mwah, mwah, mwah.
Kristin is a loyal friend.
She will do anything for you.
Look who I just ran into.
Who? Lindsay? Aah! Jerk.
We're always playing tricks on each other.
I totally got you.
We're always laughing.
We're always joking around.
[phone chiming.]
Hey, Stacie.
I see you found a new actor for your film.
Stacie is a very quiet person.
Hi.
They're both loud and they complement each other, and I'm kind of the quiet one of the group.
So how's the house hunting going, guys? I've got one more left.
We just arrived.
Do you want to see it? Our biggest problems are the fact that we didn't have a place to stay before the new quarter started.
So we really needed to find a place and we needed to find it quick.
[spooky music.]
It was in a pretty bad area.
[police siren whooping.]
There were some drug issues.
It had a little bit of a reputation.
Come on, term's in a couple of weeks.
Let's at least look inside.
We had no other options.
[gasps.]
- Ooh.
- What do you think? It was literally everything we were looking for.
It had the three bedrooms, the two baths.
It's pretty big.
It was awesome.
[shrieking.]
Aah! I got you good, girl! Don't do that.
The house was just what we needed.
You like it? She likes it.
A week later, we moved into the house.
My father helped us move down.
- I can take that.
- Okay.
Thanks.
Having Kristin attend college in Savannah is very far from our hometown in New York.
I had some concerns because it was a rougher area of town, but her brother Kyle was only five minutes away in case anything ever happened.
- Thanks.
- Hey, Kyle.
Promise me you'll look after your sister, okay? - Yeah.
- Okay.
Yeah, I'm not gonna be far away.
And you're fine, right? Dad, don't worry.
You're sure? It's only for a year.
I graduate soon, and then I'll be out of here.
At the end of the day, she was going to the best college for animation, and that's what she really wanted.
Okay.
[spooky piano music.]
Take care, okay? And call me if you need me.
Okay.
[distant arguing.]
We lived in a very noisy neighborhood.
It was a lot of people walking around.
A lot of cat-calling.
[whistling.]
Hey! Here's to our first dinner in our new house.
- Cheers.
- Cheers.
- What? - Get out of my face, boy! The first night we moved in [gunshots firing.]
There were gunshots.
[knocking at door.]
We ended up getting a knock at our door.
Hmm.
Thought I could see lights.
Ya'll supposed to be here? She was immediately on top of us.
We're students from the college.
We just moved in.
College girls, huh? You can call me Mama, everybody else does.
- Hi, Mama.
- Hey, Mama.
Hi.
We've been having some problems in the last few years with this place.
Mama said that at night there had been squatters and homeless people coming in and out and living there.
You girls be sure and lock your door at night.
That's not really what somebody wants to hear when they first move into a house.
Thanks.
[car alarm blaring.]
[pipes creaking.]
[sighs.]
[Skype sounding.]
Hi.
Ladies.
It's coffee time.
all: Rock, paper, scissors.
[laughter.]
- Fine.
- See you, loser.
I see the chair on top of the dining room table.
I kind of thought that maybe Kristin or Lindsay were pulling a prank on me or just trying to mess with me.
[roaring and banging.]
Stacie? What the heck was that? - You tell me.
- It wasn't me.
It obviously wasn't me.
We're all just kind of staring at each other going, "Okay, well, one of us must have done it.
" Suit yourselves.
Stacie got more upset 'cause she thought she was the butt of the joke.
[door slams.]
[crickets chirping.]
One evening, we were working in our rooms.
I was working on my senior film.
I had a few shots to catch up on.
I was a little bit behind.
Animation is very intense.
There is 10 hours of work in one second of good animation.
We were pretty much in the house all the time.
I was working on my computer and I was trying to get this work done before Monday.
[garbled audio.]
[audio flickers.]
All of a sudden The power just cuts out.
- Aargh! - You guys? Is this happening to you too? Oh, my God.
Our deadline was in a few days, and I'd lost about two hours of work.
I found a few candles 'cause I don't like the dark.
I didn't want to be in there alone.
Girls? Lindsay? Kristin? Linds? Hey, wait for me.
Linds? Aah! There you are.
We decided to go out onto the street and figure out why we lost power.
Maybe we blew a fuse or something.
We found our power box.
Can someone shine a light? Yeah.
[metal creaking.]
Nothing happened.
So what now? Wait until light I guess? [metal banging.]
Okay.
I remembered that my laptop was fully charged and instead of sitting in the dark we could be listening to music.
So I decided to go into my room and get it.
When I get a few feet from my door, something's not right.
I don't see any lights coming from my room.
Every single candle was blown out.
There was no reason for them to be out.
The window wasn't open.
And then I saw something really weird.
Every single one of my figurines was turned around and facing the wall.
Kristin, Lindsay, get in here! Who was in our house? [distant siren blaring.]
Kristin, Lindsay, get in here! Come on guys, this isn't funny.
I'm like, "What's not funny? What's going on?" Look at my collection.
It was very creepy.
It was very, just, unnerving.
My first instinct was they're pranking me.
They're trying to make me scared.
Come on, it's got to be you.
No.
We were with each other the whole time.
- Oh, no.
- What? I started to think maybe while we were outside that someone had snuck into our house.
We had to search the house.
I wanted to go through every possible place that anybody could hide.
We checked in the bathroom.
We searched the laundry room.
Every shadow seems to be a person.
And then bam! The lights came back on.
There was nothing there.
[sighs.]
[laughs.]
- Let's get out of here.
- Yeah.
We were always a little bit cautious in the house after that.
It was around midterms, and we're constantly pushing ourselves.
We probably pulled about three all-nighters a week.
We were more worried about our work than anything else.
The pressure was really immense.
We had a deadline coming up.
I felt trapped in that house.
Hey, Kristin, how you doing? Hey, I'm good, Dad.
And what about your brother? Does he does he come by and visit every so often? Yes, yeah he comes by to check up on me.
Don't worry.
[thumping.]
All of a sudden, I just started hearing, like, a thump noise.
Like a pounding sound.
What's going on? Dad? Hello? Kristin? Dad? You're breaking up.
[thumping.]
Lindsay! Lindsay, cut it out will you? Sorry! [spooky music.]
[thumping.]
Then I start hearing the thump noise again.
[thumping.]
I immediately thought it's Lindsay.
Lindsay, knock it off.
It's too late to be doing that! All right, what is that? [crickets chirping.]
That night, I was settling into bed.
And it takes me quite some time to get to sleep.
My mind tends to wander.
Finally, I fall into a deep sleep.
[woman humming.]
I suddenly wake up.
And I'm looking around thinking why am I awake? I look around.
And there's this woman.
She's staring at me.
I blink.
And then she's gone.
What did I just see? Maybe it's the stress of school.
Maybe it was just a dream.
Spring Break came, and I was just so excited to go home.
Both me and Lindsay lived in North Carolina, so it's not that long of a drive.
I was ready to be out of Savannah at this point.
Okay.
I was happy to get away from that house.
- Love you.
- Love you too.
I'll see you soon.
Living in New York, and going to school in Georgia it's such a long trip.
There was no way I could even take the time to go home.
[horn honks.]
[eerie breathing.]
When the girls left, I was feeling a little bit unnerved.
I really didn't want to be in the house alone.
Later that day, I was sitting in my room reading a book.
[thumping.]
All of a sudden, I start hearing banging.
[thumping.]
When Lindsay jogs in her room, the whole house shakes.
But there was no one else in the house with me.
[thumping continues.]
It's coming from Lindsay's bathroom.
It just stops immediately.
[glass shatters.]
Where the hell have you been all night? At work.
I work all day! It wasn't that weird for us to hear random noises echoing through the house [indistinct arguing.]
But the window is open again.
[police siren whooping.]
[indistinct radio chatter.]
At this point, I'm spending more and more time in my room.
[dog barking.]
[phone vibrating.]
It's a text from Lindsay [phone vibrating.]
Saying that she needed me to go in her room and find a notebook for her.
[police siren whoops.]
[phone chimes.]
[screaming.]
My heart just stops.
[screaming.]
[distant sirens blaring.]
[screaming.]
When I look again it's just Lindsay's graduation gown hanging from the ceiling.
I was so angry with Lindsay.
I thought she was messing with me.
She knew I was alone in the house.
[phone vibrating.]
My phone buzzed, and it's a picture message from Kristin.
She's like, "Why in the hell did you put your graduation gown" on your ceiling?" I told Kristin, "That's weird.
I did not do that.
I put it in my closet.
" Lindsay's my best friend.
She's telling me she didn't hang it up, but I'm looking right at it.
It was freaking me out.
[woman humming.]
I started to wish that I had gone home at that point.
[police siren wailing.]
I was so trapped.
[phone vibrating.]
Hey, sweetie, what's up? Hey, Dad.
Kristin called me and told me that some strange things were happening around the house.
Right.
Lindsay swears that she didn't do it, so I don't know how it got there.
Hmm.
I wondered if there was somebody playing jokes on them.
Maybe not the girls, but maybe the house had a history of vagrancy.
Make sure all the doors and windows are locked, okay? I was starting to get concerned.
I'm sure it's nothing.
It's just I don't know, lonely here.
I told Kristin I was coming to Atlanta on a business trip, and when it was over, I wanted to come down and spend a couple of days with her.
I'll only be a few hours away if you need me, okay? Okay, thanks, Dad.
Bye.
[creepy music.]
[crickets chirping.]
[upbeat music playing.]
At this point, I'm spending more and more time in my room.
I literally only leave it for bathroom breaks, and that's only during daylight.
I don't leave after it gets dark.
[computer mouse clicking.]
[woman humming.]
And I start hearing this weird singing.
[humming continues.]
I'm thinking that it's coming from the neighbor's house.
I start to realize that it's actually coming from inside the house.
[humming continues.]
It sounds like it's coming from Stacie's room.
I'm starting to panic.
I need to get out of the house.
But I'm afraid of leaving the house in the dark.
I call Lindsay immediately.
[Skype sounding.]
Hey, what's up, girl? Lindsay, there's someone in the house singing, humming.
She sounded obviously panicked.
Wait, what? Humming? Slow down.
Lindsay, I know it sounds crazy, but I need you to listen to it.
So I take the phone and I hold it against the wall.
[woman humming.]
Do you hear it? There is someone in this house singing, humming.
And I just feel so creeped out.
Lindsay, I'm really scared.
I don't know what to do.
It's okay, just, okay, just call your dad okay? He's gonna know what to do.
Okay, I'm gonna call him.
[phone vibrating.]
Kris? Dad? Kristin called me in a real panic.
She was terrified of what was happening in the house.
- Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa - There's someone's singing.
Slow down, slow down.
What's going on? She told me, "There's singing in the room next to me.
" Just listen to it.
[woman humming.]
It raised the hair on the back of my neck.
My first concern was is there someone in the house? Make sure you lock your door.
I'm calling your brother right now, okay? Okay.
All right, then.
[humming continues.]
Yeah, I'm here.
My dad called, telling me, you know, "You need to get over to Kristin's house.
" Kristin? Hi.
Kyle immediately came in and said he wanted to confront whatever was happening.
I'm like, okay, wow, there's some crazy lady that I'm gonna have to get rid of.
[humming grows louder.]
The door knob, it was ice cold.
I'm freaking out.
[woman humming.]
As soon as it clicks The singing stops.
And nothing there.
No one's there, no one's in the room.
There's nothing here.
I never believed in, like, ghosts, or paranormal, or anything like that.
But, you know, this this is weird.
Look, are you sure you don't want to just stay at my place tonight? I had to finish my senior film, and I had so much work to do.
Yeah.
I didn't have a choice.
I really wanted to speak to my dad again.
Right, well, I'll I'm heading for Savannah first thing in the morning, okay? All right, sweetheart.
[mellow rock music.]
I know, I know So I went to the new burritos place that opened down the street.
Oh, my God, it was so good.
Next time you come and visit, I have to take you there.
It was amazing.
You're gonna die.
When we're not together, we like to FaceTime.
You know, it's so nice to just be talking about any old junk again.
Gee, thanks a lot.
No, I mean to not have to think about animation, or.
It makes me feel like there's someone else in the house.
Makes me feel a little bit less uncomfortable with everything that's been going on.
[doorbell rings.]
Hang on, I think I just heard the door.
Don't go anywhere.
BRB.
Right, where am I gonna go? [eerie pulsating music.]
Just one second! Sorry that took so long.
Wait, what's that? What? She goes, "Kristin," my door's open.
Did you go in there? And she looks behind her and she looks back at me.
Are you trying to freak me out? No, I swear.
Can you go check it out? No way.
She goes, "It's still daylight.
" It's fine.
You'll be fine.
"Go in there.
" I'll stay online with you.
Fine.
I walk down the hallway with Lindsay.
Lindsay! What? What is it? My room is destroyed.
You need to get out of the house right now.
Get out of the house right now.
[screams.]
What's wrong? When my dad showed up at the house, I was so relieved knowing that he was gonna be staying with me.
I went through every room, every closet.
I wanted to know for sure that there was no one in this house.
[crickets chirping.]
That night, I slept on the floor in Kristin's bedroom.
That was the first full night's sleep I got in the entire week I was alone.
[humming.]
[humming continues.]
When I woke up, knowing that there was nothing that happened that night, I guess there was a little doubt in my head that Maybe my daughter was under a lot of stress.
When I finished my shower and I opened the curtain All of a sudden, I hear Kristin? Kristin! Dad? Kristin, get in here.
Dad? Dad? Written in the steam on the mirror was "they are mine.
" Kristin? Kristin! Dad? Kristin, get in here! Dad? I don't want to see this.
Who are you? What do you want? Now I'm having experiences at the house.
And now I'm getting a warning? A warning from what? We got back to Savannah as fast as we could.
My best friend is there, and I wouldn't want to be stuck in this situation by myself.
As much as I didn't want to leave, I had to get back to New York.
She was pretty adamant about staying in the house.
Graduation, for me, was everything.
I had to stay.
Hey, guys, check this out.
Only 33 days before we graduate.
We're ready to graduate and we're ready to leave.
We had started packing months before we had to move because we just wanted to be out of there.
[rustling.]
Oh, I didn't see you there, Stace.
It's amazing how much stuff you can accumulate in a year, huh? What are you looking for in there? Stacie? I I thought I was looking at evil.
[glass shatters.]
[screaming.]
Kristin? Hey, what's wrong? - Kristin? - Hey, hey, shh.
There was a woman on the couch.
[sniffling and sobbing.]
This is when I started to believe that there was something in the house that we just couldn't explain.
Ready? After Kristin saw that woman, we decided that no one should be allowed to stay in that house by themselves, especially at night.
Hey, college girls! Doing all right? You don't look all right.
Uh, yeah, we were just working late, that's all.
Everything okay in there? Um We asked Mama if anything had happened in the house.
Hey, you mentioned squatters.
I was wondering if any history in the house we should know about? Wasn't that the house that woman passed away in? No, I don't think so.
You remember, that junkie girl, Rot Lady.
Her daughter explained that she believed that the woman who lived in the house before us either committed suicide, she overdosed.
Me and Tarika saw them put the body bag in the ambulance.
She ended up dying in the house.
Bye.
At that point we started to research ways that we could protect ourselves.
We read that if you put a circle of salt around yourself, it offers some kind of spiritual protection.
We decided to move our mattresses from our rooms into the living room so we can all sleep together to make sure that we're watching each other's backs.
We decided that we were gonna make a big salt circle around all of our mattresses.
We couldn't even tell anybody about it.
We knew we would look crazy.
No one would believe us.
The salt circle seemed to work.
There was no noises, no sounds.
There was nothing.
Graduation is there.
It's right there.
And we were all getting more excited about it.
Our projects were almost done.
After that week we felt safe enough, so we moved our beds back into our rooms.
[crickets chirping.]
[eerie whispering.]
[door creaking.]
I woke up.
It was, like, 1:00 a.
m.
[humming.]
The woman was at the base of the bed.
She was staring straight at me.
I put my hands on the bed.
There were sharp things in my hands.
No, no! I don't think I've ever been that frightened in my life.
Please, help.
No! [glass creaking.]
[screaming.]
- Lindsay? Lindsay? - Kristin! Kristin, open the door! - Open the door.
- Kristin! I can't open the door.
[screaming.]
- What's happening? - Kristin! And I am shoving to get to Kristin.
[screaming.]
Stop! Please! [evil shrieking.]
[screaming.]
[crying.]
[screaming.]
Stop, please! [evil shrieking.]
[thudding.]
We're trying to get the door open, but we just can't get it.
Oh, my God! What is happening? And Kristin's just screaming her head off.
[glass shatters.]
Oh, my God.
What happened? And Kristin's covered in blood.
- Where is the first aid kit? - Oh, God.
The mirror was just shattered, and glass was all in her bed.
I just had blood all over my shirt and my arms.
It's okay, it's okay, it's okay, it's okay.
There was three slash marks across my stomach, three slash marks across my chest.
We're gonna leave right now.
We're gonna leave tonight.
"- I was like," We need to get out.
We need to go.
" - Let's go, let's go.
- Come on.
- Oh, my God.
- Hurry, hurry.
Here, it's okay, it's okay.
Go, get in, get in.
- Hurry.
- It hurts.
It's my first job interview today.
Can I show you guys some dresses? Oh, okay.
I feel that nobody outside of the three of us will ever understand what we went through in that house.
Everything that happened I think just brought us closer together.
We've lived apart for almost a year now, and we're still as close as ever.
[police sirens wailing.]
Here's to our first dinner in our new house.
It was in a pretty bad area.
You girls be sure and lock your door at night.
