The Voice UK (2012) s05e08 Episode Script
Battles 1
1 Let's get ready to battle! BELL RINGS One singer against another singer, going head-to-head.
- CHEERING - Anyone goes through.
And, for the first time ever, the spinning chairs are making their battles debut.
Spinning for a steal.
BELL RINGS, GROANING And this is where it gets VERY personal.
- CHEERING - I can't cope with this.
The Blinds were easy, compared to this.
Please.
No singing below the belt.
Or else, you are going home! MIC CLANGS The gloves are off.
Woo-hoo! This is the battles! HE PANTS CHEERING Hello and welcome to The Voice, the battle rounds! CHEERING So, the coaches have their teams of 12, but who will stay, who will go and who will get stolen? - Tonight is when we find out.
- Yes, it is indeed.
Strap in tight.
Let's meet our coaches.
CHEERING Rocking and rollin' is Ricky Wilson, alongside pitch-perfect Paloma Faith.
Let's hear it for the boys - Boy George and wham, bam, it's will.
i.
am.
CHEERING Ladies and gentlemen, your coaches! CHEERING MUSIC: Easy Love by Sigala Good evening! Evening, everyone.
So, the battle rounds.
George, first time at the battles for you.
- Yes.
- How are you feeling about splitting your team in half? It is kind of daunting.
It's going to be emotional, but I have to remember that it's a competition.
It's all going to be about the performance.
Good stuff.
Paloma, how are you feeling tonight? I don't want to see anyone go and I just was saying, like, I wish this wasn't The Voice at the moment.
I just wish it was like a summer school or something.
- LAUGHTER - So we could just carry on working for ever.
- Ricky, Will - Hi.
- You are obviously seasoned pros at the battles.
Have you got any advice for George and Paloma tonight? I've got loads of advice, but as it's a competition, I don't think I'm going to be dishing much out.
ALL: Ooh! Competitive already! LAUGHTER Coaches, very best of luck.
Enjoy the evening.
- Let's get the battle rounds started.
- Thank you.
CHEERING - Wow.
They're so close.
- LAUGHTER - Yeah, they've changed the room.
- They have changed the room.
- The feng shui's much better like this.
- I like it.
Hiya! AUDIENCE MEMBER: I love you, Will! APPLAUSE The battles are intense.
We have our teams and they have to go up against each other.
I think we have the best team out of all the coaches.
Everything is hinging on this, like - Ricky's team's, like, all right.
- LAUGHTER I'm glad will.
i.
am doesn't like it.
Somewhere in my team could be The Voice.
I just have to hang onto them.
Paloma has some pretty good singers.
You know my team is the best.
They are calling it the battles, which I refuse to say, because I'm a pacifist.
So I'm starting a revolution.
All we are singing Is give peace a chance.
And Boy George's team is pretty cool.
Oh, thank you.
CHEERING I think I have a really strong team of real, soulful singers.
What a motley crew! Look at you.
- LAUGHTER - It's perfect! But I reckon our team is the dopest.
CHEERING First up to battle tonight, it's Team Will.
CHEERING It's OK! ALL: Hey! - How you guys feeling? You guys all right? - Good.
- Yeah.
The song that will be sung for our first battle is called Cryin' by Aerosmith.
And the two people that are going to be battling and singing it are Irene I know who you're going to sing against.
It's like the battle of the freakin' voices right here.
You're going to be singing against Lydia.
This is when it gets good.
Lydia and Irene are just powerhouses.
Irene is like a tornado of harmonics.
When she sings, the Earth ripples.
SHE HOLDS A HIGH NOTE Lydia can sing, too.
Knew you were bad news But she has a lot of tricks.
She's, like, flippin' around and rapping.
I shoulda known you were bad news SHE HOLDS A HIGH NOTE You're amazing.
Being at the blind auditions, doing what I love doing, it was just amazing.
My mum is a massive fan.
To be honest, my whole family are so supportive.
'Whenever we're all together, it's just Essex banter, really.
' - Why are you smirking like that? - I'm smiling! I don't know what else to say.
Hello.
Both of them are supposed to bring out the best out of each one of them.
- How are you guys feeling? - A bit nervous.
- Why? We both don't really know the song, do we? You don't know the song? - I haven't - Never sung it? - I've never sung it.
All right.
Well, let's give it a go.
- Yeah? - Yes.
- OK.
- OK.
There was a time 'When we went into rehearsals, I was very nervous, 'because I was thinking I'm too old school 'and Lydia is so current.
' But I thought, "I'm here to fight.
" Till you give your heart away! Dominating today was done by Irene.
She's the kind of person that can sing in a stadium without a microphone, and you can hear her still.
But Lydia, she has it in her.
She knows she has it.
But I want her to, like, fight for it.
I felt like I didn't really know the song and I couldn't give it my all.
Irene was, like, going for it and I wasn't.
I was just standing there like "Pff, I don't know what I'm doing.
" Do you know what I mean? I just didn't know what I was doing.
- How do you feel? - At the moment, I'm just a bit like - All over the place.
- For the first time that you guys are singing it, you guys sound magical.
Lydia has to light it up, so, when she leaves, she's like, "I lit it up.
" Get it? Lydia.
Boom! She lit it up.
BELL RINGS APPLAUSE AND CHEERING OK.
Prepare yourselves for a scorching vocal showdown.
It's Irene Alano-Rhodes CHEERING against Lydia Lucy.
CHEERING - Psst! - Hm? - Mm.
- Just chill, Will, OK? - It will all be fine.
- It's going to be fine.
Let the battle commence.
APPLAUSE AND CHEERING DRUMSTICKS CLICK BAND PLAYS There was a time When I was so broken-hearted Love wasn't much Of a friend of mine The tables have turned Yeah, cos me and them ways have parted That kind of love Was the killin' kind Ooh, listen! All I want Is someone I can't resist BOTH: I know all I need to know By the way that I got kissed, yeah I was cryin' when I met you Now I'm tryin' to forget you Love is sweet misery Yeah, yeah! I was cryin' just to get you Now I'm dyin' cos I let you Do what you do Down on me Yeah! Now there's not even breathin' room Between pleasure and pain - No, no, no, no! - Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah! Yeah, you cry when we're makin' love Must be one and the same Cos what you got inside Ain't where your love should stay, yeah - Our love - Sweet love Ain't love Till you give your heart away Away I was cryin' when I met you Now I'm tryin' to forget you Your love is sweet misery, yeah I was cryin' Now I'm dyin' cos I let you - Do what you do - Down on, down on Down on, down on me Yeah CHEERING Wow.
How about that? Let's hear it one more time for Irene and Lydia! CHEERING Irene, well done.
How does it feel to be on the stage tonight? Absolutely amazing.
Cool.
Who's come to watch you tonight, Irene? My little boy.
My loves, Little Boy and Pupa.
Hello, 14-year-old! Congratulations, Irene.
Well done.
Lydia, how was that for you? Oh, it was amazing.
Wow.
I'm speechless.
- APPLAUSE - George, if you were going to be duetting with any of these ladies, who would you pick? Well, first of all, it was quite an angry performance, and that song isn't really an angry song.
AUDIENCE GROANS I mean, Irene, you know, you did some amazing notes.
Very different to your audition.
I mean, you both did yourselves proud, but You didn't sing together.
So I would find it really hard to call that.
- But you've both got amazing voices.
- All right.
Thank you, George.
I'm quite in agreement with George, in the sense that I'm a pacifist and I don't really like it being a battle.
I feel like nurturing each other is always the best way to go.
In the future, like, when you sing with people, I would definitely think about what you can do to help one another, cos it's a metaphor for life.
- APPLAUSE AND CHEERING Thank you, Paloma.
If the girls were on your team, and you had to pick one of them to go through, who would you pick to go through tonight? - Ooh They're both exceptional singers and could sing me under the table and back again, but, erm what I lack in talent, I make up for in banter.
- LAUGHTER - But, er I think I'd probably keep Irene.
- Irene.
- APPLAUSE OK.
Thank you, Paloma.
Ricky, do you feel the need to wave your lighter in the air for that performance? I loved it.
And I quite I love the fact it was a battle.
I thought neither of you were going to let that one slip through your fingers.
- APPLAUSE AND CHEERING And And sometimes, you need a bit of competition, because it's like, "If you're going to bring that, I'm going to bring this, "I'm going to bring that.
" Absolutely.
Who would you put through? If I had to keep someone, I would keep Lydia.
Lydia.
OK.
APPLAUSE Thank you, Ricky.
Will? Irene, Lydia brought something out of you today that we didn't see in the Blinds.
And you were like Super Irene today.
And, Lydia, you was like You had this, like You were battling Method Man, or freakin' Kanye and Jay-Z up on the mic.
- LAUGHTER But out came Lauryn Hill and Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey all together.
- So I thought that was really freakin' fresh.
- Yeah.
APPLAUSE - Cool, thank you, Will.
- A star was born today.
And it took a collision - pshh! - to bring about that star.
But, that being said, there are Somebody has to be stolen, because we've got some golden gems right there on stage.
Please, somebody steal.
And the winner of today's battle, for Team Will is - AUDIENCE SHOU - Shh! Let me say it.
LAUGHTER HIGH-PITCHED IMITATION How come they can't say, like, a different tone? Like MIMICS IN DEEP VOICE DEEP VOICES SHOUT BACK LAUGHTER OK.
OK.
Here we go.
And the winner of today's battle is - Lydia! - APPLAUSE Lydia! Congratulations.
Well done, mate.
You are through to the Knockouts.
How are you feeling? I can't believe it.
I'm so happy, honestly.
Thank you so much.
Thank you.
Well done, Lydia.
You are still on Team Will.
One more time for Lydia! CHEERING - You were awesome.
- Thank you.
CHEERING OK, Irene, there could be a second chance on the way.
What would it mean for you to stay in the competition? From the age of five, I've been singing.
I sing from my heart.
I work from my heart.
If you want me to stay, I would love to stay.
OK, brace yourself, as your future now lies with the coaches.
AUDIENCE SHOUTS OU Irene, you are now available for a steal.
AUDIENCE SHOUTS OU Steal her! Three, two One! - Ah, no! - AUDIENCE GROANS - Irene, I'm so sorry.
- APPLAUSE You haven't been stolen.
Have you had a great time on the show? I've had an absolutely amazing time.
Thank you.
Bless you.
One more time for Irene, everybody.
APPLAUSE DROWNS SPEECH Well done.
CHEERING Irene did a great job.
I wish the three coaches had stolen her.
I don't know why they didn't, but Lydia was a smasher.
She smashed it.
Wow.
That was unexpected, you know? You know, watching it on the TV and then seeing it in real life, it's kind of yeah.
- It's exciting, isn't it? - It's really exciting.
Really exciting.
And these people are good enough to get to here.
- Oh, yeah.
- The standard is that high.
- It's kind of great.
- It's incredible.
And we're watching everything.
- Yeah.
It's not like you turn round and you watch a bit of it.
- It's a total different performance.
- Yeah, yeah.
You get to know them.
- OK, then.
We're spinning round.
- All right.
Are you lot enjoying yourselves? - ALL: Yeah.
- It's marvellous, isn't it? - Woo! - LAUGHTER Love you, Paloma! Thank you! OK, the next battle comes from the sensational Team Paloma.
APPLAUSE AND CHEERING How are you feeling, girl? Just enjoy it.
Really enjoy it.
My first pairing is going to be Dwaine APPLAUSE and you're going to be singing with Aliesha.
This is the part where What I love most about Aliesha is that there is something very pure and clear about her.
CHEERING How did you end up on here? I'm not too sure.
Er I don't I'm sorry.
Something has to I think Dwaine's very comfortable in his own skin.
I could hear it in the blind audition.
Do you know how to sing like your dad? Don't know why I didn't come.
- Hello.
- How are you feeling? I picked Kiss Me by Olly Murs because I think it's a really brilliant pop song.
Take it high with you Aliesha's young and she's quite poppy and I didn't want to throw her in the deep end.
How you can be my lady Dwaine's a super-versatile singer and can adapt to anything anyway.
Kiss me like you mean it - Sounds good.
- Lovely.
- How do you feel? Dwaine was absolutely brilliant.
Aliesha seemed very quiet.
It's all very new to her.
I think it'd be nice just to sing in each other's bits as well sometimes, boost each other up, as it is a duet, not a battle.
I don't like the word "battle", so I've given this round a few alternative names.
I prefer Snuggles, Tea Parties, Petits Rendez-vous.
WOLF WHISTLE Or just Duets.
R-R-Rargh! CHEERING AND APPLAUSE Let the battle commence.
Duet! DRUMSTICKS CLICK Ooh, yeah, yeah, baby Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh I want to love you Give you that loving, baby Take it high with you Do you what you like, baby I got to find out How you can be my lady I got to do things Do things to drive you crazy We got one chance and I want it badly Do you feel like it's going the wrong way? Do you know what you're doing inside me? If you want that then bring that fire, baby Yeah, you got me I'm dreaming about it If you like that then we can go round it If you need that then tell me right now, baby Cos I wanna know If this is the last night Baby, let's do this right Oh, baby, kiss me like you mean it If this is the last night Then, baby, let's do this right Kiss me like you mean it Oh, I want to show you Show you that good life, baby You got my heartbeat Beating inside me lately I'm watching your lips move Can't hear a word you're saying Cos I want to do things Do things that drive you crazy We got one chance and I want it badly Do you feel like it's going the wrong way? Do you know what you're doing inside me? If you want that then bring that fire, baby Yeah, you got me I'm dreaming about it If you like that then we can go round it If you need that then tell me right now, baby Kiss me like you mean it Oh, kiss me Hold me Let's go to a place we'll never be lonely Oh-oh-oh, I need you To hold me Kiss me like you mean it If this is the last night Baby, let's do this right Whoo Kiss me like you mean it If this is the last night Baby, let's do this right Kiss me like you mean it CHEERING AND APPLAUSE Show your support for Dwaine and Aliesha! Yes! Guys, that was amazing.
Paloma, what do you think the guys brought out in each other tonight? I'm really proud of both of them.
It's kind of strange, because when I chose this song, in all honesty, I had Aliesha in mind, because I feel like you're the perfect pop princess, but I do think Dwaine made it his own and really owned that song.
Ricky, that was Paloma's first battle.
Can you give us some of the Wilson wisdom? I really love Aliesha.
I thought that she was stepping towards what you were doing, and I'd like to hear you sing again, more like who you want to be.
Thank you, Ricky.
Will, tell us your thoughts on that performance.
If it was their song, which one sounded right singing it? Aliesha sounded right singing the song, but who sang their ass off? Dwaine.
Thank you, Will.
For the first time ever, I'm going to disagree with Will.
MARVIN: Controversial! I don't think it was the right song for you, Aliesha.
You're very young, and I think you surrendered a little bit.
You've obviously got a beautiful voice but you weren't confident.
And I think you know that and, in a way, you supported Dwaine.
He's got a bigger voice, and Dwaine threw in some of those Olly moves, which really helped as well! For this song, I think Dwaine owned it.
OK, thank you, George.
- Paloma.
- Yeah? - Who's the winner of this battle tonight? It's so difficult to say goodbye to anybody but AUDIENCE SHOUTS OU the person I'm going to take is Dwaine.
Dwaine, congratulations.
Thank you so much! Baby, I did it, I got through! Well done.
Well done.
- It was brilliant.
- Thank you so much.
Thank you so much.
OK.
Aliesha, there is still hope.
Tell us why you'd like to stay in the competition.
This has been so amazing, and the three of you turned around for me, and that was incredible - I wasn't expecting that at all.
- But I really never want this to end.
- Fingers crossed, Aliesha.
Your future now lies with the coaches.
OK, Aliesha, you are now available for a steal.
AUDIENCE SHOUTS OU CHEERING You've got one steal, Aliesha.
Yes! I'm so happy! I'm so happy! Thank you so much! Congratulations.
You are now on Team Ricky.
Thank you so much.
Thank you so much.
It was my plan all along.
Don't thank me.
- You did all the hard work.
- Thank you.
- That was so good.
- Thank you.
- Thank you.
- Your family Wah! When they are equal like that, you've got to go for the one that you think's probably less likely to get stolen.
- I loved it! - Oh, bless you! It made me smile too much! My aim was to keep both.
I can't believe it - Thank you, she's amazing.
- She is great.
Yeah.
It's the battles.
I think I know what I'm doing, but I'm not going to tell you.
I have a hard time figuring out who stays in my team.
It's going to be really hard for me because I get attached very quickly to people.
I'm just going to base it on what happens in that moment.
We have to use our guts and intuition really wisely.
I pride myself on my good guts.
Watch out for the underdog, because the one on top thinks like, "Oh, I got this.
" Wrong! Look how hungry the underdog is.
They just bit your ankles, and now you're on the floor, crawling.
The hat's sick, bro.
- Oh, guess who got it for me? - Who? - Mr George.
- Of course he did.
- It looks so good on you.
- I've never seen one like that before.
- It's amazing.
- It's a wooden hat, bro.
- That's sick.
- Knock on wood now.
- George, where's my hat? - We'll find you - I've got quite a big head.
- Are you good with hats? I don't usually wear them, to be honest, but if you give me a hat, I'll wear it.
Will is a hat guy like me.
I went into his dressing room and it was like Hat City! - Yeah.
- The next battle - OK.
- We'll carry on with the hat talk.
This is going to be special.
Oh, I'm excited about this.
Ready to battle, it's Team Boy George.
CHEERING I just can't stop loving you I wanted to put Charley and Harry together because it was like youth and experience.
.
.
Let it go Just let it be Moving away from home's been scary.
Being at uni's been amazing so far, but I do miss my mum.
- Will you be all right? - Yeah, I'll be fine.
- You sure? I was really surprised that I was the only person that turned.
I was like, "Man, these people have got no taste.
" It was SO good.
I certainly wasn't expecting you to look like you do, and I certainly wasn't expecting you to be wearing shoes like that.
So quirky.
Wow! Can't you see that I'm lonely? Rescue me Charley has real character to her voice.
I was like, "Oh, she sounds like Lulu.
" She just sounded real.
Rescue me.
Wow.
They're very different, so it's a way of forcing maybe Charley to be a little bit more modern.
Harry has the kind of youthful braveness so he'll bring his own tone to it.
When you're trying to be too perfect, it loses something, and I think, "Don't be frightened - "to have vulnerability.
" - OK.
You're a young 'un, but you'll learn.
Don't try to be perfect, be beautiful.
I want more from you.
I think you've got a lot of experience and you're being very polite.
- OK.
- We don't need polite.
- OK.
Two opposite ends of the spectrum singing together - in some ways it's unfair, but then who said life was fair? HE CHORTLES Bring on Charley! Up against Harry! You ready? Let the battle commence.
DRUMSTICKS CLICK Each time the wind blows I hear your voice so I call your name Whispers at morning Our love is dawning Heaven's glad you came You know how I feel This thing can't go wrong I'm so proud to say I love you Your love's got me high I long to get by This time it's for ever Love is the answer I hear your voice now You are my choice now The love you bring Heaven's in my heart At your call I hear harps And angels sing You know how I feel This thing can't go wrong I can't live my life without you And I just can't hold on I feel we belong Cos my life ain't worth living If I can't be with you I just can't stop loving you I just can't stop loving you And if I stop Then just tell me what will I do I just can't stop loving you We can change all the world We can sing the songs of yesterday I can say, hey, farewell to sorrow Cos this is my life and I want to Stay for always - I just can't stop loving you - You, you, you I just can't stop loving you And if I stop Then tell me just what will I do I just can't stop loving you Hey! - Hey.
- How are you both? - I'm feeling good.
- Yes? You OK? - Yeah.
My son hasn't seen me sing for ten years, live.
Whoo! Nicky! Well, he's got to be very, very proud of what he just saw.
- I hope so.
- Well done.
Harry, how was it for you? - It's just incredible.
- You've got the best grin on your face.
- And a little twinkle in your eye.
- I can't stop.
George.
It was very sweet.
They were holding hands.
I know they've formed a really strong bond and you could see that.
I was a little bit worried about the holding of the hands.
I wrote "OMG - help" on my book.
God, are they going to be able to perform in their own space? I thought, particularly, Charley really stepped up from the rehearsal.
It's a really close call, it really is.
Paloma, let's go to you.
I thought they were both exceptional and you were really respectful to the song, and that's really important to me.
- Will.
- Yeah? - Who do you think had the edge? I liked Charley's effortlessness.
- Thank you so much.
- Thanks, Will.
George, time for you to make your decision.
Well, you know I knew that this was going to be once of the most difficult pairings, cos I like you both, for very different and similar reasons.
Um for me, that performance was owned by Harry.
Harry! He's funny, he's so sweet.
Harry, congratulations.
You remain on Team Boy George.
How are you feeling? I can't actually I think I'm going to go off and just cry.
Thank you so much.
Go see George.
You can cry on his shoulder.
Harry, everyone! CHEERING I'm loving the coordination! Thank you so much.
PALOMA: So beautiful.
Hello! OK.
Charley, so you're no longer on Team Boy George, but another coach could snap you up.
Why should they do that? Because I entered this competition, wanted George to turn round and he did.
I worked so hard.
And you should definitely, definitely be doing this.
- It's in your blood.
You're very good at it.
- I appreciate that.
Thank you.
OK, Charley, well, once again, your future now lies with the coaches.
Charley, you are now available for a steal.
AUDIENCE SHOUTS OU She's got a great voice but Not today, I'm afraid.
Sorry, George.
It's really tough, isn't it? - I'm so sorry.
- It's OK.
I've had a fantastic time.
Thank you so much.
Please, put your hands together one more time for Charley! - Hi.
- You absolutely have to go with your head held high cos that was amazing.
Thanks for giving me the opportunity, George.
You're amazing.
It was close but Harry has that kind of slightly guttural kind of thing.
It's untamed, it's a lot of natural soul.
He's got a big future ahead of him and I just think he had the edge.
Aw It's just the most incredible feeling.
It doesn't feel real.
It doesn't feel like it's just happened.
I've got to stop crying.
Why are YOU crying?! Stop crying! Everyone just stop crying, OK? How do you feel, George? I think I made the right choice, but it was REALLY tough.
GENTLE LAUGHTER Do you want to swap seats? GEORGE CHUCKLES Come on.
We will, we will rock you AUDIENCE CLAPS IN TIME We will, we will rock you Buddy, I'm a LAUGHTER - Was that you? Was that you? - Yeah.
- Pretty good, actually.
- Come on, more.
- No, don't know the words.
That was Oh, God, that's not good for your back.
LAUGHTER AUDIENCE MEMBER SCREAMS LAUGHTER Are you ready for this? It's Team Ricky! CHEERING I still get jealous I love Efe.
I think he's absolutely fantastic.
I didn't have My blind audition was full of adrenaline.
I wanted it so bad.
It was my last note that Ricky turned.
CHEERING So, Jolan has been on the show before.
Couldn't stop if you tried it I was on series three, two years ago.
When the chairs didn't turn, I was really, really gutted.
Since I was here last, a lot's changed in my life.
Sadly, my mum has passed away.
Another thing that's pushed me on to come back is that I need to do this, and it's going to be for her.
CHEERING This time, I just want to do the best I can and mainly, I want to make my mum proud.
Jolan and Efe are singing Beat Surrender by the Jam.
I've given them this song because it's a soul song and they will smash the flipping heck out of it.
To the beat surrender Feel there's n-no passion Don't know that bit.
'Efe's got a lot of edge on Jolan, confidence-wise.
' Sure about Are sorted out at once I'm pretty shy and keep myself to myself day to day, so I need to work on that.
Come on, boy, come on, girl In my everyday life, being a salesperson, you have to have some confidence.
To the beat surrender Great.
I love it.
Put all that energy into it.
Confidence is going to make this go through the roof.
I think the winner of this battle will be in the final three.
Get rehearsing.
See you in the ring, Jolan! - See you later, lads.
- See you.
It's pretty nerve-racking.
I don't know what's going to happen.
Let the battle commence.
BOTH: Beat surrender Come on, boy Come on, girl Succumb to the beat surrender Come on, boy Come on, girl Succumb to the beat surrender All the things that we talk about Are packed into one punch All the things that I'm not sure about Are sorted out at once - And as it was in the beginning - Oh-whoa-oh So shall it be in the end That lie's just a lie It just goes by different names Whoa-oh-oh Come on, boy Come on, girl Succumb to the beat surrender Come on, boy Come on, girl Succumb to the beat surrender All the things that we shout about But never act upon All the courage and dreams I've had But seem to wait too long My doubt is cast aside Run to hide The dignified don't even enter in the game Come on, boy Come on, girl Succumb to the beat surrender Come on, boy Come on, girl Succumb to the beat surrender And if you feel there's no passion No quality sensation Seize the young determination - Show the fakers you ain't foolin' - You see me come running To the sound of you strumming Fill my heart with joy and gladness I've lived too long in the shadow of sadness My doubt is cast aside Watch phonies run to hide The dignified don't even Enter in the game Come on, boy Come on, girl Succumb to the beat surrender Come on, boy Come on, girl Succumb to the beat surrender.
CHEERING AND APPLAUSE That was good.
Jolan and Efe, everyone! How was that? It was absolutely electric.
Thank you so much, crowd.
The crowd were incredible, the band were incredible.
Awesome.
You're pumped, aren't you? Super.
I want to do it again.
It was awesome.
OK, Ricky, why did you put these two together? I wanted them Well, they've both got soul in their soul LAUGHTER I wanted to put them with a song that I love.
I put them together because there's no point in giving anyone an easy ride at this point.
They need to become better.
Either of them could go on and be in the final three.
CHEERING AND APPLAUSE Efe was the bomb.
Jolan, whoa, bro, you've got a lot of soul.
I love what you did with the song.
I agree with Ricky, it was such an exciting beginning.
I was, like, hyperventilating.
You were both great.
It's really almost impossible to call it, but, Jolan, those little falsetto things that you do are genius.
Thank you.
Thank you so much.
- As you know, I tried to get you on my team.
- Yes.
- And so I would probably go with you.
- Thank you.
CHEERING OK.
Boys, are you ready? Ricky, it's time for you to make your decision.
CROWD SHOUTS Ricky, who is the winner of this battle? The person I'm taking through is Jolan.
CHEERING AND APPLAUSE Congratulations, Jolan, everyone! OK, Efe, you're no longer on Team Ricky, but that doesn't mean that it's the end.
Tell us why you'd love to stay in the competition.
It's been such an amazing experience.
I came to this show because I wanted to show my children that if they had a gift that they should come and share it with the world and if they really want it, they have to go and grab it.
I would love the opportunity to continue to push forward in this process.
- Thanks, Efe.
Well, it might not be over yet, because you're now available for a steal.
Are you going to turn? Will? Are you going to? GROANING I'm so sorry.
So sorry.
No steal this evening for you, but have you enjoyed it? It's been awesome.
Thank you very much, Ricky, it's been awesome.
Thank you.
- Nothing to worry about.
- Thank you.
Please put your hands together one more time for Efe.
CHEERING AND APPLAUSE Jolan was just so It was just easy, it was breezy.
I just have a connection with Jolan.
He makes so much sense on my team, I couldn't lose him.
The main thing I need to do it is for my mum, she's She's always been there.
She'd be proud.
You could be kicking yourself come tomorrow afternoon.
PALOMA: We could be, but we can't do anything about it now.
I was hoping you'd get rid of Jolan so I could steal him.
GEORGE LAUGHS So he's never going to be up for grabs again, that's it, right? - It's a one-chance saloon.
- Mm-hm.
Will.
Hey, what's up? Good to see you.
CHEERING - Hello.
- Hello, how are you, Will? - How are you? - You're looking good.
Thank you.
But it's awful when you think they're such a wonderful person.
It doesn't end here.
RICKY: Also, I don't mind looking like a wally for not choosing him.
I haven't heard that word for years, Ricky.
I got called Wally of the Week once in the Sunday Mirror.
That's quite complimentary.
Wally of the Week.
- You're busy, aren't you? - Yeah.
Where's Will? MARVIN: Coming up is Team will.
i.
am.
- OK, I'm going to go head back.
- OK.
- See you later.
Next battle is Charley Blue CHEERING Gonna write a little letter gotta take it to my local DJ Hoo-woo It's a jumpy little record I want my jockey to play Charley is like a rapper who sings great who also plays the freaking fiddle.
Hey diddle, diddle.
I'm going to choose Will.
The only thing that could actually go up against Charley Blue and her flying violin is a duet.
Scott And Vicki.
CHEERING Scott and Vicki - boom, they start singing, like Donny and Marie.
Like, whoa.
You just took me for a loop there.
They're chipper, they get you going.
Yeah.
The song that you guys are going to be singing is by Little Mix called Black Magic.
- Yes! - I love that song.
Take a sip of my secret potion It's actually two versus three, because Charley Blue, she's a lot of people too.
Instead of singing the part and then they you could violin the part and then they still do their response.
We don't want to play it safe.
No, we can take it all the way.
Charley Blue is going to be singing, rhyming and playing the fiddle.
For Scott And Vicki, the cow has to jump over the moon, the little dog has to laugh to see such sport and the fish has to run away with the spoon.
CHEERING AND APPLAUSE MARVIN: Let the battle commence.
Is this fair? Two against one.
VICKI AND CHARLEY: All the girls on the block Knocking at my door Come on, everybody! Yes! Wanna know what it is Make the boys want more Come on! Is your lover Playing on your side? Says he loves you But he ain't got time Here's the answer Come and get it At a knocked-down price SCOTT AND VICKI: Hey! Full of honey Just to make him sweet Crystal balling Just to help him see What he's been missing So come and get it While you've still got time Hey! Get your boy on his knees And repeat after me, say Take a sip of my secret potion I'll make you fall in love For a spell that can't be broken One drop should be enough Boy, you belong to me I got the recipe And it's called black magic And it's called black magic Take a sip of my secret potion One taste and you'll be mine It's a spell that can't be broken It'll keep you up all night Boy, you belong to me I got the recipe And it's called black magic And it's called black magic - If you're looking - If you're looking For Mr Right - Need that magic - Magic To change him overnight Here's the answer Come and get it While you've still got time RAPPING: You wanna get it while you've still got time Gonna use a little magic Gonna make you mine SINGING: Get your boy on his knees And repeat after me, say Take a sip of my secret potion I'll make you fall in love For a spell that can't be broken One drop should be enough Boy, you belong to me I got the recipe And it's called black magic And it's called black magic! ALL: Take a sip of my secret potion One taste and you'll be mine It'll keep you up all night Boy, you belong to me You belong to me RAPPING: You know I've got the recipe, so come on And it's called black magic.
CHEERING AND APPLAUSE Yeah, let's hear it for Charley and Scott And Vicki! Well done, guys.
Amazing.
George, do you think Will made the right choice by putting these guys on the stage together tonight? For me, it was a little bit messy, the performance.
I just would have liked to have heard more individual singing from Scott And Vicki.
So, you know, it's really hard for me to call because of that.
I feel like vocally, I would err towards Scott And Vicki in terms of, like your singing was fantastic.
But I feel that when you add the extra dimensions of violin, rapping and singing, like, you can't help but be impressed.
Like, you're like, "Oh, she means business.
" If I was having to make this decision, as with all of them, they're tough, but I would probably take Charley with me.
CHEERING OK, it is time to make your decision, Will.
OK, so Processing, processing, processing, processing.
- LAUGHTER - Processing.
Um, I think the world needs renaissance, it needs a bit of, "I don't know.
Right now I feel like this.
"Boom.
I feel like that.
Bow.
"Right now I feel like ugh! - "Right now I feel like this.
Whaa?" - LAUGHTER You know? For that The most energetic person I've met in a long time is Charley Blue.
- CHEERING AND APPLAUSE - MARVIN: Congratulations, Charley.
You are through to the knockouts.
What does that mean to you? Thank you so much.
Thank you so much, Will.
That really means a lot.
I'll work hard.
I will.
- Bless you.
- Thank you so much.
Guys, give it up one more time for Charley, guys.
CHEERING Sorry, I'm all over the place.
Thank you so much.
I can't believe it.
Oh, God.
OK, Scott and Vicki, you didn't win that battle, but, Vicki, can you tell us why you'd like to stay in the competition? There is nobody left in the whole of the competition like us.
I mean, we are the only duo now, so it's double the hard work, double the vocals, double the fun.
It's like buy one get one free really with us two, isn't it? A bit of a BOGOF offer there.
What a pitch! OK, Scott And Vicki, you still have a chance now, OK? Your future lies with the coaches.
Scott And Vicki, you're now available for a steal.
PALOMA: There just like "steal" to every WILL: STEAL THEM! Steal them.
I only have one left.
I've one left and I've got like You guys suck! You guys suck! You guys - I'm just playing.
- What's he saying? MARVIN: OK, coaches, you only have a short amount of time left to steal.
PALOMA: Take it, this one is for you.
RICKY: I've only got one left.
Guys, I'm so sorry.
You've not been stolen tonight.
Well done, guys.
One more time, everyone, please, for Scott And Vicki! Well done, Scott.
Well done, love.
Thank you.
CHEERING I want to know about your choices of song.
My choice of songs are to make them both equally uncomfortable.
That's cruel.
I think it's hard to sing when you're, like, completely out of your comfort zone.
- Yeah, so that's a point.
- We've all done it.
- I know, but I hated every second of it.
- Yeah, me too.
RICKY: But if they're both in that situation, then one of them shines, then - See how they perform when they're under I mean, these kind of performances, they're so high-pressure.
I mean, I couldn't do that.
Could you? I mean, it's enough pressure as it is.
No, I couldn't do it.
I picked Charley based on who I felt I could coach and improve.
Right, Wilson, what have you got for us next? Hopefully the UK's largest mass sock detachment - you're going to get your socks blown off.
Amazing! Stand by, it's Team Ricky.
Alaric versus Chloe is going to be amazing.
He's a bouncer, she's a busker.
This is the thing that everyone is going to be talking about.
Baby There's something wretched about me The blind auditions was an amazing experience for me, just so different from busking.
I love busking, don't get me wrong, but that's not what I want for the rest of my life.
The emotion, that's what Chloe is all about.
Wow, what a voice.
Thank you so much.
- And your skirt is great as well.
- Thank you, it's my nan's.
- From the - '70s? Yeah, yeah.
- Awesome.
- She gave it to me when I was 17.
She bought it when she was 17.
Have you got some ID, please, mate? Alaric, what he's got going for him is his great voice.
Perfect.
Flawless.
I let you fly I really like the voice.
I turned around for it, and I know that people will like you.
I put you together cos you've got the most heart out of any of the singers, which is what this song needs.
Alaric and Chloe, the song Antony And The Johnsons, Hope There Is Someone.
It's a beautiful song, it's very emotional.
Oh, I'm scared 'This song is really deep lyrically.
It cuts right to your core.
' 'In rehearsal watching them, it definitely had an impact on me.
'Chloe and Alaric are going to make people cry with this.
' It's incredible.
Well done, guys.
- It's emotional.
- Yeah.
I feel your emotion while you're singing it.
It's stunning.
Cheers, man.
Thank you.
This is my battle.
This is going to make George, Paloma and Will's teams look stupid.
Hope there's someone Who'll take care of me When I die, will I go? Hope there's someone Who'll set my heart free Nice to hold When I'm tired There's a ghost on the horizon When I go to bed How can I fall asleep tonight? How will I rest my head? Oh, I'm scared of the middle place Between light and nowhere I don't want to be the one Left in there, left in there There's a man on the horizon Wish that I'd go to bed If I fall to his feet tonight Will allow rest my head BOTH: So here's hoping I will not drown Or paralyse in the light And godsend I don't want to go To the sea's watershed Hope there's someone Who'll take care of me When I die, will I go? Hope there's someone Who'll set my heart free Nice to hold - When I'm - Tired.
CHEERING AND APPLAUSE Wow! Chloe and Alaric! Oh, my goodness! I had goose bumps all over my body.
You guys have such a lovely relationship, and I think that really came out during your performance.
Chloe is amazing.
It's an honour to be on the stage with her.
Thank you.
You're so sweet.
Look at you! Sorry.
It was amazing.
It was absolutely amazing.
Alaric, you were fantastic.
I just don't want I just don't want either of us to go.
Can we just come as a duo? They're quite a phenomenal duo.
- Ricky, it's going to be tricky.
- Yeah.
Oh, God, yeah.
I'm going to let you dry your eyes, and we'll go to Paloma.
Paloma, what did you think of the battle? I thought that was, like, a really precious, special moment.
Thank you both for bringing it here, cos it was really moving.
Thank you, Paloma.
Antony Hegarty, who wrote the song, is a really good friend of mine.
The song is really special to me, it's just beautiful.
What was nice was that, Alaric, you stepped out of your comfort zone.
What it showed is you're capable of other genres, you know, cos when you first came, it was very theatrical, operatic, so it was beautiful to hear that.
Chloe, you're amazing.
You're 19, your audition was off the charts, - I was gutted I didn't get you.
- Thank you so much.
I just think, you know, I love the way you dress, I love everything about you.
You're just so cool.
Thank you, George.
Thank you.
Ricky? Em, I think there's something very special about both of you.
Together, you made it even more special.
Yeah, I agree with Paloma - thanks for that.
That's the kind of thing that I want people to be talking about, and they will be, because it was perfection.
CHEERING AND APPLAUSE Ricky, who is the winner of the battle? Chloe.
I'm choosing Chloe.
CHEERING AND APPLAUSE OK, Alaric, you could be poached for another team.
Tell us why you would really like to stay in the competition.
Well, Paloma, when I first auditioned, you said that the reason you didn't turn was that you didn't like the style of music that I sung.
Now I've brought something new to the table, I hope that it will change your mind, maybe.
George, same.
You said you didn't know what to do with my voice, now I've brought something else to the table.
OK, Alaric, this could be your chance, as your future now lies once again with the coaches.
No pressure, guys.
Turn! CROWD SHOUTS I don't have anyone like him in my team, he's really different.
He's wonderful.
CHEERING It's George! You're now on Team Boy George.
Congratulations.
Alaric, everyone! CHEERING AND APPLAUSE Although Alaric technically and emotionally was spot-on, there's something about Chloe's spirit that I love.
CHLOE SCREAMS I've got my first Steal, Alaric.
He's different.
I don't have anyone like him on my team.
I'm pretty chuffed.
One more to get.
I think you've got a very safe pair of hands there.
I think that he's There's no-one like him on my team.
Based on what he did tonight, you know, I would have stolen Chloe from you, I was so I was hoping you could take Alaric so I could steal Chloe.
- What's next, babe? - Will.
Ooh, there's some good ones coming up, fellas.
MARVIN: That's right, Ricky, there's still so much more to come.
I feel like I just witnessed something truly special.
Steal! Double trouble! Wow! You guys both need to be in season five to the end.
And a familiar face makes an unexpected return.
I'm so happy that I've been able to give her the chance to come back.
Next into battle, it's Team Will.
Release the riffs, it's a soul stand-off.
Let's hear it for Aaron.
CHEERING up against Faheem.
CHEERING Faheem against Aaron Hill.
I think we need to identify who the soul warrior is, and what better way to do that but to put them together? And I just don't want to stop Aaron is an amazing powerhouse soul singer.
Let's Marvin Gaye and get it on Faheem is a dynamite soul sensation, and he is going to give Aaron his run for his money.
- Living For The City.
- It's a good song, man.
- Good song.
- Definitely.
Just listen to the song, be selective, tasteful with the runs.
Like Stevie Wonder, he could do runs, but there is something about, like, just where you put the runs.
We're just going to crack on Just enough for the city Yeah Just enough.
The cit-ay-ay-ay-ay-ooh-ooh-ooh.
No more running.
Here's what I would do - do Aaron, do Faheem, but easy on the runs.
You don't want to do run-run the do run-run.
You don't want to run out the door now.
There's two ways you could look at riffs - ter-riff-ic, or hor-riff-ic.
We want the ter-riff-ic riffs, not the hor-riff-ic riffs.
Right? Let the battle commence.
CHEERING Good luck, bro.
Good luck.
Ooh, yeah A boy is born in hard time Mississippi Surrounded by four walls that ain't so pretty His parents give Him love and affection To keep him strong Moving in the right direction Living just enough, just enough for the city Hey, yeah, yeah His father works some days for 14 hours And you can bet he hardly makes a dollar His mother goes to scrub the floor for many And you'd best believe she hardly gets a penny Living just enough, just enough for the city Oh-whoa-whoa-oh La-la-la-la-la Oh-oh, la-la La-la-la-la-la-ah His brother's smart He's got more sense than many His patience's long But soon he won't have any To find a job is like a haystack needle Cos where he lives they don't use coloured people Living just enough, just enough for the city Living just enough for the city - Living - Just enough for the city I'm living Living BOTH: Just enough! Yeah! - CHEERING AND APPLAUSE - Thank you.
Oh! Aaron and Faheem! Wow! All the audience up on their feet, me and Marv were dancing back there.
Will, this is going to be tricky for you.
Normally Tricky Ricky, but Tricky Will.
Doesn't really rhyme, but never mind It's going to be a hard decision.
If it's Tricky Ricky, then mine's would be RICKY: Silly.
PALOMA: Silly Willy! LAUGHTER Silly, really? That's good, that's good.
APPLAUSE You guys put on a great show.
The singing was flawless.
The licks were like You didn't run too much, you did the right amount of runs.
It was perfect, it was great.
I really enjoyed it.
CHEERING AND APPLAUSE Thank you so much, thank you so much.
Thank you so much.
Aaron, you were so much better than your original audition.
You took it to church.
It felt, like CHEERING That's really your type of song, you really owned it.
Faheem, it was also really good as well.
Thank you.
Thank you very much.
Your team over there is screaming.
We love you! Love you too.
It just filled me with joy and happiness.
I feel so good to be alive right now.
I'm so grateful to you both for reminding us about living life.
It's just beautiful to watch.
Beautiful! CHEERING OK, Will.
It's time for you to make your decision.
So you guys both need to be in season five to the end.
Right? CHEERING And because of that, this is just strategics now.
Now I'm just I have no favourite, like, I have no favourite.
I have no favourite, I'm torn.
George is looking intently at you, Will.
Cos I don't know what he's going to do No, no, no, so boom - check it out.
Because of that, looking at strategies, strategising on all the strategic ways LAUGHTER in order to execute the strategy, there's no winner of the battle, it is a kneel.
Did I say that right, football? Uh-oh, American.
- Draw.
- Oh, sorry.
It's a draw.
Americans always get it wrong.
So, moving forward is Faheem.
CHEERING AND APPLAUSE Faheem, congratulations.
Will, man, you're my guy, man.
Thank you so much, man.
- Thank you so much.
- Give him some.
OK, Aaron, so tell us why you would like to stay in the competition.
I'm a hard worker.
I love singing.
I've been singing I sing all the time.
And I need it! CHEERING AND APPLAUSE OK, it's not over just yet, as your future now lies again with the coaches.
You are now available for a Steal.
Steal! CROWD SHOUTS - Two! - Double trouble! CHEERING AND APPLAUSE Well done.
Congratulations.
Two steals - George and Paloma.
How are you feeling? I'm feeling great.
I'm feeling great.
I can't even express how I'm feeling right now, but, yeah, I'm excited.
George, let's start with you.
Erm I just turned because, you know, you were amazing.
I didn't actually really like your original audition but on that song you took it somewhere else.
You know.
- CHEERING - And - Thank you so much.
You're a belter.
You know? you remind me of like, Darryl Pandy.
You've just got to get into a song, and there were certain lines in that song that only you could have owned, and you really did.
So I don't care if you go with Paloma because she's got nicer hair than me and she's wearing a skirt I've got a bit more to me than that, but, yeah.
- LAUGHTER - As well.
No, I mean, I won't be offended either way, I just think you're a great singer - Thank you.
- .
.
and whoever you go with, you know, good luck.
You know? - Thank you so much.
- APPLAUSE I want to nurture what I've seen, and I want to work WITH you.
I don't want to dictate to you.
I want to understand what it is that you see within yourself and bring that out together.
APPLAUSE I don't want to go down I don't want to sound like I DIDN'T want you, because I do, I think you're an amazing singer, and Paloma HAS got some big ass voices on her team.
So there'll be competition.
Just warning you! LAUGHTER AND CHEERING So Aaron, now it's back to you.
I'm going to go with my heart I'm going to pick - Paloma.
- WHOOPING AND APPLAUSE Congratulations, well done.
You're now on Team Paloma.
We'll see you at the Knockouts! - I wasn't - I know, thank you.
'Aaron/Faheem was a great battle.
I had to be a little strategic, ' so I picked Faheem cos I knew someone was going to pick Aaron.
Won the battle! Won the battle.
Won the battle.
Oh, I'm buzzing.
I'm so excited.
Not only did one person try to steal - two, that was double trouble, bust your bubble.
Huddle huddle.
Cuddle cuddle.
Thank you-ou-ou-ou! Oh, thank you, Lo-o-o-ord I'm still here! Oi! And I didn't just say you were a skirt and a wig.
It just sounded like that.
You're much more than that to me, Paloma.
You're so defensive! Honestly.
- No, that was my banter.
- Oh, OK.
- I didn't take offence.
- OK.
- Not even slightly.
- OK.
Ready to battle - Shall we do it? - Yeah.
- All right, let's do it for Team George.
So, only one voice can emerge victorious - will it be Laura Begley or Tobias Robertson? Let the battle commence.
- How do you feel about the pairing? - We love it, but when we first met, we just clicked instantly, we became really good friends.
And we actually joked about, - "Oh, what if we were in the battles together?" - And we are.
- Amazing.
If it's not love, then it's the bomb, the bomb Laura has this great kind of country tone, which I absolutely love.
Oh, you got a friend Tobias is a crooner.
He's got a jazzy voice.
Seeing them together, they kind of look like a couple.
There's something about the two of them that they go together.
This, I think, is going to require emotional engagement.
And you're going to really have to perform like a great couple.
I think Laura and Tobias have got the biggest challenge of all the singers.
So it's going to be really interesting to see whether they listen to what I've said.
When routine bites hard And ambitions are low And resentment rides high But emotions won't grow And we're changing our ways Taking different roads Then love Love will tear us apart again Love Love will tear us apart You cry out in your sleep All my failings exposed APPLAUSE And there's a taste in my mouth As desperation takes hold BOTH: Just that something so good Just don't function no more APPLAUSE Love Love will tear us apart again Love Love will tear us apart.
CHEERING AND APPLAUSE Yeah, let's hear it for Laura and Tobias! I really feel that when I put these two together, I created a union.
I just felt there was an instant connection.
And I think that you can do so much for each other, I mean, I really hope that this becomes a band.
It's meant to be.
We've seen duets between people where they're sort of fighting against each other and there's a lot of conflict, and then we've seen duets with people that we'd like to see as a group.
You should definitely swap numbers, is my advice.
- We're already like, best friends now anyway.
- Good! - Maybe you could get married, I'll sing at your wedding.
- LAUGHTER I've just got a feeling about you two, - I just think there's just this lovely thing.
- Can I buy a new hat?! - You can buy a new hat, Paloma! - Well, they're both single, George.
Both single? Well, you know, so am I.
Join the club.
OK, listen, let's do it.
George, I need to know who's the winner of tonight's battle.
I'm going to take Laura through.
Laura, congratulations! - You are through to the Knockouts.
- Thank you so much.
Go on, go and give George a big squeeze.
- One more time for Laura, everyone! - CHEERING It was the right thing to do.
Love your dress, baby! - You sounded like the girl from The Cranberries.
- I know, everyone says.
OK.
Tobias, once again your future now lies with the coaches.
Tobias, you're now available for a steal.
He has the likeability factor.
No? CHEERS OF ENCOURAGEMEN Aw, Tobias, I'm so sorry.
Unfortunately it's the end of the road for you.
Have you had a great time? - Yeah, I've had an amazing time.
- Good man.
Listen, one more time please, let's hear it for Tobias, everyone! APPLAUSE AND CHEERING Hard, cos the standard's so high that there's some brilliant people going home.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I'm sorry - Who's now? - Me.
- Team Paloma.
Theo and Jordan.
Oh! Gorgeous Jordan.
Yeah.
It's beautiful.
I hope they're not too nervous.
But she was your spare.
Someone pulled out, right? Yeah.
Unfortunately for me, one of my team pulled out due to personal reasons.
So I've selected my reserve, which was Jordan.
Well, she takes Just like a woman Yes, she does APPLAUSE 'I was just so regretful that I didn't press that button, ' and I'm so happy that I've been able to give her a chance to come back.
Well, good luck.
This is a bit of a lifeline and we're throwing it out and we're going, "Yeah!" - I'm going to hold on.
I'm going through.
Thank you.
- Bringing you in! 'I wanted to be on Team Paloma from the very beginning.
'I think I'm the first transgender person 'that's ever been on the series.
' It's really great to be here.
- Hiya.
- Hey! Hello.
I think Jordan and Theo's a really interesting pairing.
Theo's got a very versatile voice.
HE SINGS A HIGH SUSTAINED NOTE I'm a sucker for a voice like that.
Thank you! Ah ah-ah-ah The song we're singing is This Woman's Work by Kate Bush.
.
.
A little life in you yet 'When we found out what our song was 'I thought, "Brilliant, "I'm back in and I have a chance.
"' And then I very quickly started to realise that maybe I spoke too soon.
Oh-ohhhh I was a bit .
.
God you can cope Do you feel comfortable with the key that's it at? I'd like to take it down.
'Jordan's very hard on herself' because she's in a transition at the moment between male/female I don't want to be a parody of a woman all the way through the song.
Cos I spend every day kind of feeling like a parody of a woman.
It seems to me like you're your own worst critic.
And there's nothing parody about it - I mean, I wish that I could sing that high.
I can't.
Jordan was suggesting that I should take the spotlight and she should just stay in the back-seat and whatnot.
I kind of feel like you should do the whole thing.
She was really underestimating herself.
You're both going to do yourselves proud, I'm sure.
There's not going to be a dry eye in the house! APPLAUSE AND CHEERING PIANO INTRO Oh-ohhh Ooh-ooh-ooh ooooh-ooh APPLAUSE Oh-ohhh ohhh APPLAUSE AND WHISTLING Pray God you can cope I stand outside This woman's work This woman's world CHEERING AND APPLAUSE Oh, it's hard on the man Now his part is over Now starts the craft Of the fa-a-a-ather WHOOPING I know you've got a little life in you yet I know you've got a lot of strength left I should be crying but I just can't Let it show I should be hoping but I can't stop thinking Of all the things I should've said that we never said And all the things we should've done that we never did All the things I should've given but we didn't BOTH: Oh Darling JORDAN: Make it go Make it go away Give me these moments Back Back, back Give them - Back to me - APPLAUSE I should be crying but I just can't Let it show-ow-ow-ow I should be hoping but I can't stop thinki-i-i-ing Of all the things I should've said that we never said All the things we should've done that we never did And all the things I should've given, but we didn't Oh-oh-oh ohhh Oh, darling Make it go away.
CHEERING AND APPLAUSE Wow! Make some noise for Jordan and Theo, everyone.
Incredible.
Jordan, come in here.
Wow, but was emotional.
Paloma - are you OK, hun? Sorry?! That was so beautiful.
MARVIN: It was.
So good.
You could hear a pin drop in here through that, right? Paloma, I'm going to come to you in a moment.
- I think you need to give me a sec! - Yeah - MARVIN LAUGHS Let's go to Ricky first of all.
Ricky, are you glad to see Jordan back in the competition? Yeah.
Sometimes, you know, people slip through the net.
And we always feel like proper idiots.
And you just proved that all four of us when we didn't turn for you, we made a big mistake, but you're back, and it shows that everything happens for a reason.
Cos you came back fighting, and you came back and you just showed the world, and well done.
- Thank you, Ricky.
- WHOOPING AND APPLAUSE - Will - I don't know how Paloma's going to do it.
It's a tough one cos you guys are both, like, extraordinary artists.
Theo to me was like, controlled.
APPLAUSE AND WHOOPING It was controlled, and um Jordan, today was just really emotional.
But you're Whoa.
You're a forever.
A forever thing.
Yeah.
APPLAUSE George, I got goose bumps watching that, I think.
- You was getting quite emotional yourself.
- How was it for you? Yeah, we were all in tears.
You know.
Very emotional.
I feel like I just witnessed something truly special.
CHEERING AND APPLAUSE You two are the oddest pairing ever but it was SO beautiful.
And perfect.
Perfect, beautiful, flawless Good luck(!) LAUGHTER AND APPLAUSE It is a very difficult decision.
But I think, you know, what we spoke about in terms of You know, it not being about gender and You know, your story, Jordan, and the moment that you sing that line, it's hard for the man in your low register just was the moment that Sorry.
It's so moving.
But I really believe in you and And Theo, we're going to miss you so much, but I'm going to take Jordan.
Jordan, you are through to the Knockouts, well done.
How are you feeling, Jordan? Thank you.
I love this guy.
If you don't steal him, I'm going to steal him.
Congratulations, Jordan, you are through to the knockouts.
Give Paloma a hug.
Jordan, one more time, everyone.
That was very beautiful.
OK, now, Theo, this may not be the end of the road for you.
Anything you'd like to say to the coaches? Um CHEERING AND SHOUTING I Being here has actually been a complete learning curve.
It's helped me to think outside of the box and not be stuck in my ways.
It was an honour performing in front of all four of you and everyone else here.
You're a gentleman, Theo, thank you.
OK, your future now lies with the coaches.
OK, Theo, you're now available for a steal.
CHEERING One steal, well done, Theo.
How good is that? He can't believe it.
Theo, congratulations, you are now on Team Will.
Yo! Oh, mate.
Um um - Yo! - You can't believe it, can you? You can't relax now, Theo.
Listen, well done, man, go and see your new coach.
One more time, for Theo, everyone.
CHEERING AND APPLAUSE I feel like my make-up's going to run.
I think that might be one of the highlights of the show.
Done in.
Jordan! Well done.
Who knew? Come on, from the audition to that is just it was like Beautiful.
It was like That was another level he's never really been.
- You know what I mean? - Yeah.
Transgender kind of pop star, I think it's kind of time.
It really feels like it's time.
Ah, my gosh! I'm so happy that Paloma picked Jordan cos I got my first steal with Theo.
I'm through! Theo is He's something super.
CHEERING AND LAUGHTER I can't cope with this.
Can you send the make-up person in? Cos I just bawled my eyes out.
I think you need it.
Guys, we need a bit of touch-up, it's a bit emotional.
The one time I didn't have a handkerchief as well.
Beautiful, wasn't it? - Slavered.
- Yeah.
LAUGHTER The singing, the steals and the stand-offs continue with Team Ricky.
Brooklynne, you're going to be singing with Tom.
The song you'll be singing together is Tears Dry On Their Own by Amy Winehouse.
- Oh, no way! Well, nothing Looking back to the blind audition, I was actually really proud of myself.
.
.
Crying Going onto the stage was quite overwhelming, really.
.
.
Wanna feel your body It was pretty cool.
All I can ever be to you Tears Dry On Their Own, it's a great song, undeniably brilliant.
It means a lot to me.
And this regret I got Timing-wise and getting the lyrics in the right place, I wasn't too comfortable with, but I'm really happy with the song.
Once it was so right Brooklynne probably has the upper hand, but I'm putting a different spin on the song.
It does work as a duet.
You give it a new twist of energy that I really like.
Brooklynne and Tom both have a "up" vibe about them.
It's absolutely fantastic.
On the night, this battle comes down to who I believe most in.
It's going to be great.
Let the battle commence.
All I can ever be to you is a darkness that we knew And this regret I got accustomed to It's my responsibility But you don't owe nothing to me But to walk away I have no capacity He walks away The sun goes down He takes the day, but I'm grown And in your way In this blue shade My tears dry on their own I don't understand Why do I stress you, woman When there's so many bigger things at hand I should play myself again Be my own best friend Not stave myself in the head for stupid men He walks away The sun goes down He takes the day but I am grown And in your way In this blue shade My tears dry on their own Ohhh She walks away The sun goes down She takes the day But I am grown And in your way In this blue shade My tears dry on their own.
CHEERING AND APPLAUSE One more time for Tom and Brooklynne.
Will, you were rather animated watching that performance.
There was a lot of this.
Oh, no, no, I was watching my man, he was animated with it.
I was like, wow, check him out, he's like really being in the theatricals.
Usually, like, theatre er, I don't know, it doesn't really belong in pop.
- Theatre belongs in theatre.
- I know what you mean, yeah.
Then there's people that perform theatrical, like Michael Jackson performed theatrical.
- Yeah.
I've grown up with Michael Jackson, I was fed it as a young lad.
To the point where I think it's Earth Song where he's grabbing hold of two trees, and I used to get the conservatory chairs and use that.
With a plastic microphone that kept - Ah-ah-ohhh.
- There you go.
And Brooklynne is just like, she reminds me of, like, um, a Lauryn Hill.
Oh, wow, thank you! I was really entertained, it was dope, you guys really brought the house down.
Thanks, Will.
And, Ricky, happy? Yeah, it was really good, you should be proud of yourselves, well done.
OK, good.
OK, Ricky, who is the winner of the battle? The person I'm going to take forward in the competition CHEERING AND SHOUTING is Brooklynne.
Congratulations.
Ricky, thank you! OK, Tom, you're not available for a steal.
GROANS I'm sorry.
Thank you.
We've loved having you, Tom, thank you so much.
Tom, everyone.
Paloma, what have you got for us next? - I have 100% got something, a little bit of eye candy - Oh! something to satisfy the ladies at home.
- And the men, potentially.
- And some men.
And we're all very excited about this.
- Sounds very interesting.
- So hold on to your chair.
Oh! OK, Team Paloma.
Rick and Bradley are my heart-throb pairing.
They bring a bit of heat to Team Paloma.
Because Rick Snowdon's blind audition was phenomenal.
Ahhhh And I don't think there's anything in the market like him right now.
You have this aged, amazing voice.
I'm so happy they turned for you.
I see you driving down town When I turned around and saw Bradley, swoon, I realised that he is the whole package.
There's so much gravel and grittiness to his voice.
Let's have a hug.
Are you all right? Welcome.
I gave them a medley of Something's Got Hold On Me by Etta James and I'm A Man by Bo Diddley.
I picked the song because you don't realise how attractive you both are.
I felt like it would be very sexy to hear two men sort of defiantly saying, "Yeah, I'm a man.
" I'm a man We'll just have to turn up the man switch and be more masculine.
I think I'm going to go to the gym, not shave for a week or two and then perform that song.
Gonna make love to you, baby I think those two boys have got it going on and they're like properly proper lookers, aren't they? Man It's going to be so good.
Turn up the heat, here comes our smouldering Stand-Off.
Bradley Waterman going against Rick Snowdon.
Let the battle commence.
Whoa Sometimes I get a good feeling I get a feeling That I never, never knew And I just wanna tell you right now That I Now, when I was a little boy At the age of five I had something in my pocket Kept a lot of folks alive I'm a man, yeah I spell M A, yeah, yeah, M Man I was going back down To Kansas to Bring back the second cousin Little John the conqueroo Ohh Yeah Yeah, yeah, oh The line that I shoot Will never miss The way I make love to 'em They never resist, yeah I'm a man I spell M A N Man.
CHEERING AND APPLAUSE Whoo! Bradley and Rick! Ohh! Let me tell you, the stage is a very nice place to be right now.
Both of you look so at home up here, like you were having the best time.
Paloma, it's going to be a really tough choice between these two.
Woo-hoo! Now, we know there's two very fine young men up there.
We'll come back to you in a minute.
Ricky.
- Yes.
- Can you feel the testosterone that I can feel? CHEERING Worryingly, I can, yeah.
- What did you think? - Sometimes, when, you know, people come on stage and sing the blues with rock voices like that, the kind of confidence can be a bit off-putting, but their confidence was perfect, it was saying, we're going to smash the hell out of this, and they did, and everyone loved it, you know what I mean? Thanks, Ricky.
Er, Will, did you feel the blues? I felt a lot of colours, not just blues.
GEORGE LAUGHS But, like it was a great performance.
Bradley, your ever awesome soulful voice.
Rick, you're like those iconic people that when that person has a hit - Oh, my gosh! - then people are going to start mimicking and imitating them.
You have one of those imitating qualities.
I was just watching your moves, like, "Is he serious right now?" - LAUGHTER - Like, after you would sing a lick, you do this thing with your face.
It's like I'm, like, "Whoa! He's for real right now?!" I mean, that is so freaking fresh.
So, like, hats off.
I won't take my hat off because I haven't combed my hair, but hats off.
- Thank you very much, man.
- Thanks, Will.
APPLAUSE George, what did you think? Well, I feel like, you know, Rick was more in his comfort zone.
He's a rocker, he's a blues guy, so, you know, I think you were slightly not in your comfort zone with what you just did.
And all those kind of great falsetto things, it was just very animal.
The performance was very animal and very kind of, I don't know, it was exciting to watch.
You really complemented each other.
It wasn't like a fight, it was like, "Wow! This is really entertaining.
" - It was really entertaining.
- That means we all won.
- Yeah.
It was really good.
CHEERING AND APPLAUSE Paloma, was it man enough for you? It was.
It totally blew my socks off.
I'm so proud of both of them, cos they were just, like, "Let's just go in together, "do this together and nail it.
" And they did.
This is really hard, and it is no reflection on how fantastic you both are, but I have to make a decision.
And I'm going to take Rick with me.
CHEERING AND APPLAUSE Hmm.
- Well done.
- Thank you.
- Brilliant.
- You were great.
- Rick, congratulations.
You remain on Team Paloma.
How do you feel about the Knockouts? The battle was obviously awesome.
It was just amazing.
It was nice to get up here and do a bit of rock and roll.
His hair smells lovely as well, just so you all know.
Please, put your hands together one more time for Rick.
APPLAUSE - Well done, Rick.
Great performance.
- Thank you.
Yeah.
Super that.
Well done, hon.
You're a star.
Thank you.
CHEERING AND APPLAUSE OK, Bradley, your future now lies again with the coaches.
Yeah.
Are you going to? Erm BUZZER SOUNDS REPEATEDLY You have to wait till the clock's moving.
- I ain't got time for all that.
- Bradley, you are now available for a steal.
CHEERING EMMA LAUGHS Congratulations.
George hit that button for you.
- Well, you were great.
- How happy are you? - You were great.
And you should have been on my team in the first place.
LAUGHTER APPLAUSE Well done, Bradley.
- I'm so proud.
Now you can win the whole thing.
- Thank you so much.
- Well done.
- Cheers, mate.
- You did it, bro.
- Well done.
- GEORGE AND PALOMA LAUGH CHEERING Bradley and Rick, it was one of those really well-balanced things, but they were both so different.
- Yeah! Well done, man.
Well done.
They're both brilliant, but I'm all about the individual, and I feel like Rick really stood out to me as being a complete one-off.
Whoo! Bring on the knockouts.
Bradley, he just sang great.
And I think he's got huge likeability.
I think people are going to love him.
- Anyway, Paloma's loss is George's gain.
- Yes! - Yes.
Well done.
I can't steal any more.
That's it.
- I'm kind of relieved.
- Yeah, you can relax now.
OK, this is it.
The final battle of the night comes from Team Boy George.
CHEERING My last pairing is - Cody.
- CHEERING AND APPLAUSE Cody has, like, an ocean of vulnerability.
That was the big thing with Cody.
Yeah! Cody was like a mini me, the way she was dressed, the make-up.
I like to be different, because that's how you get your voice heard, that's how you can make a change.
I feel like I understand her completely.
And Cody will be up against - Heather.
- CHEERING AND APPLAUSE Heather is very talented.
She has a kind of quirky quality about her which I completely love.
I've been a member of Mensa for about six years now.
Mensa is an organisation that contains the top 2% of intelligent adults.
I feel connected to Cody, but I also think that Heather could easily win this battle.
It's going to be very difficult to lose either one of them.
You're both pretty young, so you're both fresh out of school, what was that like? - I didn't really enjoy school.
I did a year of A-levels and got Us on all of them.
But I'm still at school.
I'm doing four A-levels at the moment, which is really tough.
So we've got a brainy one and one that's a bit more like me.
Me and Heather are like different ends of the spectrum, she does really pretty make-up and wears pretty dresses.
I feel like I look like a bad influence.
Shall we have a little listen to your interpretation? - I go out every night - Cody's got massive potential.
I think she's got something very unique about her, she knows how to place things emotionally.
I know that living with you Quite scary singing against Cody.
When she sings, I get goose bumps.
And I want to try and have the same effect that she does on Boy George.
"Oh, the flowers that you planted, mama Heather needs to be encouraged to be a little bit more connected to what she's singing.
Can we just talk a little bit about the journey of the song.
I just think you've got to find the light and shade in it.
You don't need to do 101 notes.
It's nice to push you, but don't feel that you have to - Not all the time.
- Yeah.
I think of everything so analytically, it just ends up making you so much more nervous.
It's horrible.
One second.
Can I have a second? Is that all right? How did you feel about the session? I thought it was good.
I mean, Cody is absolutely incredible.
You've also got a very touching voice.
You were chosen to be in my team, so, clearly, I feel like you got something too.
I just need to just be myself and to sing how I normally sing.
I need to not worry what Cody's doing.
I need to just not listen to her and just really get into my own zone.
It's going to be really hard.
It will literally be down to, who do I believe? It's got to be that cold.
CHEERING It's a teenage tear-up.
- Let's hear it for Cody Frost - CHEERING taking on Heather Cameron-Hayes.
CHEERING It's been seven hours and 15 days CHEERING Since you took your love away I go out every night and sleep all day CHEERING Since you took your love away Since you've been gone I can do whatever I want I can see whomever I choose I can eat my dinner in a fancy restaurant But nothing, I said, nothing can take away these blues Cos nothing compares - Nothing compares to you - .
.
to you APPLAUSE All the flowers that you planted, mama In the back yard All died when you went away Oh, I know that living with you, baby, was sometimes hard But I'm willing to give it another try Because nothing compares BOTH: Nothing compares to you No, nothing compares BOTH: Nothing compares to you.
CHEERING AND APPLAUSE MARVIN LAUGHS How good was that? Let's hear it for Cody and Heather, everyone! CHEERING Well done, girls.
So good.
George, that was amazing.
How you feeling? It was beautiful.
It was exactly what I thought it was going to be, but better.
- Yeah, it was beautiful.
- Emotional.
Paloma, now, you fought hard for Cody in the blinds, how did she do for you tonight? It was absolutely beautiful, but it was a special duet.
It was haunting.
Like, Heather, your voice when it trails off, it's like at the end somewhere there's truth.
- It just resonates.
And there's just so much in it.
- Thank you.
- APPLAUSE - Erm Cody just said to Heather that she did a sick job, so that was quite cool.
Yeah, she did a sick job.
Will, two very individual styles, but which of these 17-year-old girls stood out for you today? First off, I want to meet Cody's parents.
Where are they at? - So, Mom, where's Mom? - Can we have a wave? - Mum's there.
- Hi.
- And Pops? - And Dad's the bald one.
All right.
Whatever design you guys did, you guys did an awesome job designing that.
Wow! And, Heather, your parents? You guys should be proud of Heather, cos she's, like, so sweet and sings so awesome.
- Thank you.
- I don't even know who to choose.
Like, whatever, forget my opinion, I'm just here.
- LAUGHTER - Thank you, Will.
APPLAUSE OK.
Heather, you brought so much emotion to that song and you made it effortless.
You brought me to tears, it was amazing.
And I I don't cry at many things.
- Except tax bills.
- LAUGHTER So, erm But, you know, you're 17 and you have a massive future in front of you.
And I kind of feel like this is going to end well whatever happens, but because I fought so hard to get Cody, you just remind so much of myself when I was your age, and so I am going to take you through.
Yay! Cody, congratulations! Well done! You're through to the knockouts.
So good.
Are you OK? - I'm all right.
- Go and give George a big hug one more time.
Make some noise for Cody, who's through to the knockouts, everyone.
Amazing! Thank you so much.
Thank you.
You're so gorgeous.
- Really special.
- CHEERING CODY SCREAMS LAUGHTER Will you tell us what it would mean for you, Heather, to stay in the competition? It would mean everything, because I've learnt so, so much, but I really want to show you kind of me as an artist, and show you all what I can do behind a piano singing my stuff.
- It's just been amazing and I don't want it to end.
- Thank you.
Once again, Heather, your future lies with the coaches.
APPLAUSE PALOMA: It's really hard, isn't it? LAUGHTER - Ricky? - Too similar to one that I love on my team.
- Please steal.
- Paloma, I need to get you back in your chair, hon.
- I'm a revolutionary.
- LAUGHTER OK, fingers crossed, all right? Fingers crossed.
- Yes! - CHEERING Well done! APPLAUSE One steal from Paloma.
Oh, my! Amazing! You are now Team Paloma.
Well done, Heather.
- Well done.
- CHEERING DROWNS OUT DIALOGUE CHEERING DROWNS OUT DIALOGUE Well done! That was exciting.
I love it.
Thank you for just being amazing.
We just That wasn't stressful, Paloma(!) LAUGHTER I might have lost my winner today, cos I think Heather has huge, huge potential to win.
Oh, my God! I'm in the knockouts! I think today we've had really special performances.
It was like an honour to be here.
Next week.
Round two from the battles.
All remaining singers fight for survival in the competition.
- I feel sick.
- What's going on?! Only Ricky and will have a steal left to make.
I've got my eye on somebody.
- But guess who's being a naughty boy? - Come on, Will! Getting ready to say it, but I just can't seem to think.
This is, like, a travesty.
LAUGHTER
LAUGHTER
