I'm shaking like a leaf.
- What's the matter Charlie, you wanna live forever? - Quit talking, let's just do it.
- [David.]
This is a holdup, get on the floor.
- [Marlene.]
Everybody.
- [Charlie.]
Get down, come on, give it to me now.
On your face, come on, down, do it.
- [David.]
Now open the door, open the door, come on.
- [Charlie.]
Get on your face, fast.
- [Marlene.]
You two, get on the floor now! - [David.]
Open up those cash registers.
Open them up, come on, let's go.
All right, give me the money, put them in these bags.
Let's go now, hurry up! - [Dispatcher.]
4-Adam-16, a citizens complaint.
Vehicle illegally parked in the bus loading zone.
- 4-Adam-16, we copy and we're on our way.
- 4-Adam-30 requests 4-Adam-16 to meet me on tac two.
- [Dispatcher.]
4-Adam-16, meet 4-Adam-30 on tac two.
- 30, this is 16, go ahead Hooker.
- Just wondering if you needed some backup.
- We handle the heavy action by ourselves, but thanks anyway, 16 out.
(suspenseful music) - [Stacy.]
There it is.
- Yep.
There's somebody else across the street parked in the red.
- Yeah, and in front of a check cashing place.
- Let's have a look.
(suspenseful music) - [David.]
Come on, come on.
- [Marlene.]
I said get down.
- [Charlie.]
What's taking so long? - [David.]
I thought I told you to stay back by the door.
- [Charlie.]
Hey, down on the floor old man.
(suspenseful music) Down on the floor old man.
I said get down.
- [Charlie.]
What's taking so long? - [David.]
You better get down old man! - Stay put, I'll call for backup.
- [David.]
Stay down, or I'll blow you away.
I bet you'd like this bag old man heh? - Drop your guns, drop them! Against the counter now, both of you! - [Marlene.]
Drop the gun cop.
Drop it! (suspenseful music) - [Charlie.]
Another cop! - Stacy.
- [David.]
She's gonna be our ticket outta here.
Everybody stays down, and everybody lives.
(dramatic music) Drop that gun or I'll kill her.
Drop it! (Stacy yelps) (tires screeching) (siren wailing) - [Jim.]
Holdup, they took Stacy hostage, three of them.
- [T.
J.
.]
Let's go.
- [David.]
Get her cuffs.
Get her cuffs, put them on her.
(Stacy yelps) Put them on, put them on.
(siren wailing) - 4-Adam-30 in pursuit of a late model gray van.
License two, king, nine, seven, five, nine, six.
Headed north on Spencer from 6th street.
A police officer is in the van and has been taken hostage.
Use caution.
(siren wailing) (tires screeching) - Yoo hoo! - Ha ha, yeah! (suspenseful music) - Three suspects in a stolen van, that's all we've got so far.
I want everyone to have a description of that van in the next then minutes, and each one of you shake down every snitch you've ever had.
- How hard do we come down on them? - Until something breaks.
Anything from the M.
O.
file? - Negative, maybe they're amateurs.
- Well, that'll be a break for Stacy, if they are.
- Yeah, as long as we don't spook 'em.
- Right, go careful, but go fast.
The longer she's with them, the worse it gets.
All right, that's it.
Except, find her.
Jim.
You and Stacy took on the holdup solo, why? - That's the way it turned out.
- What were you trying to do, play Starsky and Hutch? Why didn't you wait for backup? - Stacy's a good cop, it was a judgment call.
(suspenseful music) - Slow down, dam it! - [Marlene.]
We blew it.
- What do you mean? - I mean we took a lousy $5,000.
00, that's all.
You said there'd be You said there'd be payroll money, lottery money.
- All right, so I was wrong.
Shut up and let me think! - Well, while you're thinking about it, you better think about what we're gonna do with her man.
She seen our faces.
- [Marlene.]
You know what the bruise for armed robbery is? - What're you saying, we kill a cop? That's crazy.
- Did you hear what I said? It's either her or 30 years.
(dramatic music) - Not now, and not unless I say so, okay? (dramatic music) - [Guard.]
Fell off the guys wrist as he was running out.
I didn't stop to think about fingerprints at all, sorry.
- American Pacific, does that mean anything to you? - Sounds like a train or a bank.
- I used to do a lot of crewing on racing yachts.
There's a, there's a big sailboat race.
Takes place every two years, called the American Pacific.
- What's that got to do with the bracelet? - Well, skippers do things like that, sometimes when they win, you know.
Could be a thank you from the skipper to his crew members.
- So, you're saying that this guy might've crewed on a racing sailboat? - It's just an educated guess.
- Well, let's see how your educated guess pans out.
Off to the marina, thanks.
- Sorry about your partner.
If it hadn't been for her coming in the way she did, they'd have killed that old man on the spot.
- Stacy did it on her own, it wasn't your fault.
- I should've stayed with her.
- No, you did it by the book, you called for backup.
- Yeah, and she went in and saved that old man.
You heard it yourself.
- I heard it and that's the way it's going in the report, but that's not gonna get her back any sooner.
(mysterious music) - My bracelet.
- What about it? - It's gone.
- Hey listen, if you lost it back there, it's our necks.
- Look, will you two forget about that.
David, we have to figure out what to do with her.
We can't be dragging a live cop around with us.
- She's right man.
We don't need her now.
- We can take her up to one of those deserted canyons.
Up above Terranea Beach It'd be weeks, maybe months before anybody found her.
- What's the matter Marlene, she too pretty for you? Is that eating you up, huh? - Are you getting a thing for her, is that it? All that blond hair and all that baby face.
Well, you're not kicking me out of bed for her.
Come here.
- [David.]
Leave her alone! - Hey, come on, we're all in this together, right? (mysterious music) (upbeat music) - No, I don't recall seeing anybody wearing one of these.
Looks expensive.
- American Pacific.
You do provide the trophies for the American Pacific race, don't you? - Mm yeah, we sure do, you can see some of them in the pictures around here, but we don't handle any jewelry like that bracelet.
- When was the last time somebody from around here won that race? - Oh that's easy, The Lucinda, two years ago.
- Do you know the owner of The Lucinda? - Not as well as I'd like to.
Name's Georgia Wilson, and gentlemen, she is a whole lot of woman.
The Lucinda's berthed over at The Gold Coast Marina, if you're interested.
- We'll give it a try, thank you.
(suspenseful music) (upbeat music) - [T.
J.
.]
Hello.
- Hello.
- [T.
J.
.]
Are you Miss Wilson? - Yes, I am.
Now, what can I do for my local police department? - [T.
J.
.]
You recognize this bracelet? - Well sure.
It's one of those I had made up for members of my crew a couple years ago.
Is something wrong? - There's been a robbery and a kidnapping.
One of the suspects wore that bracelet.
- [T.
J.
.]
Your crew, personal friends, professionals? - Friends yes, but uh, just off the top of my head, I don't remember just which ones were on that particular race with me.
- Give it some thought Miss Wilson.
- I will, I promise.
How do I get in touch? - Call the number on this card anytime of the day.
- Anytime Sergeant Hooker? - [T.
J.
.]
I'll be there.
(suspenseful music) - Come on, you're about to take a fall.
(Marlene yelps) (Charlie grunts) - What's the matter Charlie? Can't you even handle a woman who can't use her hands? - I can handle her.
(foot thuds) - [David.]
Hey, give it to me.
- Hey, I'll do it.
I don't need a gun.
Hey, it's a piece of cake man.
- (grunts) Drop it, drop it.
Now listen, I'll say when and I'll say how, okay? - Okay.
- Okay? - Okay, okay man.
All right, okay.
(both laughing) All right.
- All right, now you and me, we're gonna take a little walk.
Just you and me.
Okay, easy now.
I'm just gonna take your gag off.
Is that better? - Give it up David, now while you still can.
- Hey, I'm not the one who's in trouble.
- You don't know what trouble is.
Think about it, every cop in this state is looking for me right now.
You kill me, they'll have your head.
- I'm not gonna let anybody hurt you.
- What about Marlene? - Ah, she's just jealous.
She thinks we might get something going between us, you know? - Think she's right? (David laughing) - I gotta make up my mind about you.
I'll give you this much though, nobody would kill anything as pretty as you, nobody.
Except me.
- Those animals have Stacy, why? A hostage, a safe ticket across the border? - [Dispatcher.]
4-Adam-30.
We're holding a call from a Georgia Wilson.
Will you except? - Roger, patch her through.
- Hooker, what've you got Miss Wilson? - I'm not sure Sergeant.
After you left I made some calls.
All of my crew on that race were good friends.
They still are, but there was one exception.
One of my regular crew came down sick, so we picked up this young man named Charlie.
I never knew his last name.
- And Charlie has one of the bracelets? - Oh yes, everybody did, but about three days into the race, we found out that he had a drug problem.
A very heavy problem.
It was a bad scene.
We were all glad when the race was over.
- Have you seen this Charlie since then? - I think so.
Yes, yes, he hangs around the marina.
I think he does odd jobs on boats, things like that.
- We'll check it out, thank you Miss Wilson.
- Call me Georgia.
- Okay, Georgia.
- And just call me anytime.
- Okay, anytime.
- That's a warmhearted lady.
- If this Charlie's a big user and he scores at the marina, I know who he's buying from, Scooter Riley.
(upbeat music) This guy's fast on his feet when cops show up.
That's why he's called Scooter.
Cover to the front entrance.
- Like a blanket.
(suspenseful music) - [T.
J.
.]
Scooter! (dramatic music) Now we're gonna have a talk.
- Let go of me Hooker.
- [T.
J.
.]
I want some answers.
- I ain't giving you the time of day.
- Turn around.
You never learn, do you? - Looks like smack.
- I want my lawyer.
- Lawyer, you're gonna need a mortician.
Where's Charlie? - Who? - [T.
J.
.]
Charlie.
- Hooker, Hooker, enough, enough.
You look, you look here.
The guy's name is Charlie, and we need him.
- (laughs) Oh wow, I get it, Hooker's the bad cop, and you're the good cop.
It won't work man.
(fist thuds) - It's my partner who's missing, we're both the bad guys.
- [T.
J.
.]
Give us Charlie.
- All right, all right, just go easy man.
Look, I, I ain't seen Charlie, but he's got this place up on Ocean Avenue.
Look, I'll tell ya where man.
(door thuds) - Cover the back.
(suspenseful music) - He's a user.
What is it? (mysterious music) That's Stacy's ring.
She was here.
- And they may come back, I want a stakeout.
Let's tear this place apart.
I got a telephone bill for Charles A.
Rolph.
We got a name and some very interesting telephone calls.
(suspenseful music) - Hey, we just opened a savings account.
Wait til they see the withdraw we're gonna make.
How much do you think we'll get Dave? - All of it.
- When are we gonna hit it? - Tomorrow morning.
That'll give me all night to work things out.
(suspenseful music) (light orchestral music) - [Mr.
Huntman.]
I'm Mr.
Huntman.
If you two are the off-duty police officers I hired for security, I want you on that gate out there.
- [T.
J.
.]
I'm Sergeant Hooker, this is Officer Corrigan, LCPD.
We're here on official business.
- [Mr.
Huntman.]
What might that be? - [T.
J.
.]
A man by the name of Charlie Rolph called the telephone number listed to your boat last three weeks.
- [Jim.]
Some of those talks lasted 30 minutes.
- [Mr.
Huntman.]
Charlie Rolph has nothing to do with me.
He hangs around with my son.
Now what is this all about really? - [T.
J.
.]
Armed robbery, and the kidnapping of a police officer.
- You telling me my son is involved? - I'm telling you Charlie Rolph is involved.
We wanna talk to your son.
- David is not here.
When i see him, I'll tell him to call you.
- Dam it, a police officer's life is on the line.
I made a call.
Does the name Oakwood Drug Rehab Clinic mean anything to you? - Oh, that's it.
David had a problem with drugs.
Not that is past history.
Get off his back, will ya? - Is that where he met Charlie Rolph? - Maybe, I don't know.
- Where is your son now? - I said I don't know, Sergeant, back off.
You know who this little party is for? The Mayor, a little fundraiser for his reelection.
You push me, you push him, you get the point? - If I have to, I'll push both of you to hell and back.
Count on it.
(light orchestral music) - [David.]
We'll be safe out here.
Marlene lives in the middle of nowhere.
- Come on, all you're gonna get is a life term in prison.
- (laughing) They gotta catch me first.
You hungry? - I can't eat with my hands behind me, can I? Come on David, get these things off me.
- What's the matter David? Can't make love with her hands behind her back? - Shut up Marlene.
- Okay, I'll shut up.
You wanna help us with the rest of the supplies? - I changed my mind, I'm tired of waiting.
I think we should do something tonight, okay? - What's the matter, your cop girlfriend say no? - Hey, hey, come on you two.
- Give me a hand, give me a hand.
She went out the side window, come on.
(dramatic music) (Stacy yelps) You do this again, I'll kill you.
Better yet, I'll let Marlene kill ya.
(dramatic music) - You wanted to see me Lieutenant? - [Lieutenant.]
Yeah, we have a visitor from downtown Hooker.
- William Murphy from the Mayor's office.
Ah, I've been looking over you records Sergeant, with the Lieutenant's permission, of course.
I must say, I'm quite impressed.
- You didn't come all the way from downtown to blow smoke in my ear now, did ya? - (snickers) No, no I didn't.
The Mayor's a considerate man Sergeant.
He asked me to talk to you directly, instead of the Chief of Police.
- It's about Robert Huntman, isn't it? - You're a very discerning man Sergeant.
Yes, Mr.
Huntman and his son.
I'm sure we understand each other.
- Now wait a minute, this case file from the Oakwood Rehab Center establishes Mr.
Huntman's son is a known associate of Charlie Rolph.
A man we know is involved in Officers Sheridan's kidnapping.
- I'm sorry Lieutenant, we're just not satisfied that the evidence warrants any action.
That could be considered harassment, or threatening of a prominent citizen.
- What's the bottom line? - [Lieutenant.]
There will be no problem, if you voluntarily withdraw from this investigation.
- I'm on this case until I find Officer Sheridan, and you can tell the Mayor that from me.
- That was the Mayor talking Hooker.
- Yeah, I get the picture.
How do you feel about this? - [Lieutenant.]
I'm behind you.
Now get out of here and go find Stacy.
(gun firing) - [David.]
All right, everybody just stay put.
- [Marlene.]
Don't anybody move.
Now you don't wanna get shot, do you? - [David.]
Come on, come on, come on, come on.
(Stacy grunting) Come on, come on, come on, get it in there.
Come on, hurry up! Come on, come on, come on.
Move it, come on, come on! - [Marlene.]
Hurry up, come on! - [Charlie.]
All of you, get down.
Come on, come on.
- [David.]
Move it! Stay down, all right, everybody just stay down.
(fist thuds) - [Marlene.]
Let him go.
Let him go! (gun firing) come on, hurry up! Come on.
(tires screeching) - What happened? - We had a little trouble.
- We had a lot of trouble.
I had to blow away the guard in there.
- Hooker, well it looks like your suspects are back in business again.
Only this time, they shot out the surveillance camera.
- What happened? - Well, there's three armed suspects.
There was a fight, they killed the bank guard.
Oh, there's something else.
One of bank officers, Mrs.
Loring, she got a look at the face of one of them.
- How much? - 11,000.
- Jesus, there's gotta be more than that.
We're never gonna get enough to get it for the boat.
- [Charlie.]
Where do they keep the big money anyway? - In vaults.
- Yeah, but the got, they got time locks.
You gotta know when they open those things.
- Well then what the hell do we do? - Wait a minute.
Where does the money come from? Armored cars, right? - Hey David, that's it.
We stake out a place.
- Yeah.
- We find out when the armored cars deliver the money.
- Yeah (chuckles).
- And steal it! - Yeah! (both laughing) - Great, now the only thing that we have to figure out, is when do we dump her? (dramatic music) - No, his nose was smaller I think.
Oh, maybe not, I'm not sure.
- Try again.
- Hooker, just got this from The Oakwood Rehab Clinic.
- That's him, that's the one.
- David Huntman.
(dramatic music) - [Charlie.]
Piece of cake, right David? - [David.]
They'll never know what hit 'em.
- David and me are getting married you know? We're gonna take all that money we're gonna get, we're gonna go away somewhere, and we're just gonna live on a high.
- Does David know that? - He did til you came along.
- Yeah, I'm ready to move on anytime.
Why don't you do yourself a favor and let me.
- What do I get outta that? - David.
- [Marlene.]
That's a good one.
- [Stacy.]
So, what do ya say? - You've said enough.
I'm gonna get some air.
Stay put.
(mysterious music) (gun firing) - Did you really think I was gonna let you go cop? - You like to play games, is that it, for kicks? - Yeah, I like watching you jump.
I like it a lot.
You're doing what I make you do.
(dramatic music) I oughta blow you away right here and now.
- Go ahead, if you wanna make sure David hates you, go on.
(mysterious music) - [T.
J.
.]
Pretty good match, what do you think Mr.
Huntman? - Where did you get that drawing? - From an eyewitness to a bank robbery.
They also killed a guard.
- There must be some mistake.
David couldn't do that.
- There's no mistake.
There were two others, they wore masks.
They kidnapped an officer.
They still have her.
- All right, if you are right, how can I help? - One of them was a woman, David knows her.
Maybe you do too.
- A girl.
Ah, it could be any girl.
- [T.
J.
.]
Not this one, they were a team, think.
- Uh, there was one girl he went with for awhile.
He even brought her by a couple of times.
- Name? - Marlene um, oh, I can't remember her last name.
She lived on Duval Canyon.
- Duval Canyon, got it.
- Sergeant, if my son did this thing, I am so sorry.
- We're all sorry.
(dramatic music) - [Dispatcher.]
4-Adam-16.
Meet 4-Adam-30 on tac two.
- Roger.
What've you got Hooker? - I think I found David's playmate.
Last house on Duval Canyon.
Are you close? - I guess about two miles.
- Roger, put it under surveillance.
Her name is Marlene Sterns.
I'll be there as soon as I can.
- I'm on it.
(upbeat music) - Look, this is it.
This is the big score, you understand? I can give you anything that you want.
- No deal David.
- (grunts) Come on, come on, don't talk like that.
Look, it's gonna be you and me from now on.
You and me.
I mean, I know it's wild, I, I, I know it's crazy, but, but I love you.
Oh, oh wow.
(chuckles) Gee, I, I never said that to anybody before.
I, I never felt that before.
- I'm a police officer, do you hear me? I'm a hostage.
Marlene said she killed a bank guard.
All you can do now is give yourself up.
- Shut up! What're you talking about? You listen to me okay? Listen good! I'm never going back to what I was before, never.
Either you're going with me where I wanna go, or your going nowhere.
(suspenseful music) (David grunting) - David, we're ready to go man.
- [David.]
Put her in the van, let's get it on.
(upbeat music) - 16 to 30.
- [T.
J.
.]
Go ahead Jim.
- Hooker, they've got Stacy.
They're just putting her in a blue and white van.
They're pulling out now.
- Then move! (dramatic music) - They're moving south on Hancock Boulevard.
Where are you Hooker? - I'm closing fast, give me a cross street.
- 57th, wait, they're turning onto 58th.
- I know the area.
(dramatic music) - [Jim.]
They're pulling over.
It's The International Currency Exchange.
That's gotta be it Hooker.
(dramatic music) - Let's take 'em.
(dramatic music) (guns firing) (sirens wailing) (guns firing) - Drop it, drop it! - [David.]
Stay back or I'll kill her.
(dramatic music) - Jim, take care of the girl.
(sirens wailing) (dramatic music) - Come on! Okay, it's just you and me babe.
- It's finished David, it's over.
- No, no, look.
I took your gag off, so that we could kiss goodbye.
- Listen to me David, this isn't the way.
We'll do everything we can for you.
- Yeah, yeah, I know, a shrink right? I don't want any more father figures, you got it? Look, I'm gonna really be free now, we both are.
That's far enough.
- Put the gun down Huntman.
- (chuckles) I don't care about getting hurt anymore.
- Hooker.
- David, look at me, I'm putting my gun away.
- (laughs) Nice try cop.
- Stacy.
(dramatic music) Give me your hand.
(dramatic music) (David screams) (upbeat music) - [Stacy.]
Yeah, and I felt sorry for David.
Not very professional.
- [T.
J.
.]
But very human.
- [Stacy.]
Said he wanted to be set free.
I guess he is now.
- [Jim.]
Yeah, the hard way.
- [Stacy.]
By the way Hooker, I hear you've got something going with a lady sailor named Georgia.
- [T.
J.
.]
Oh, we never left the dock.
Hey, when you said you wanted to take us sailing, I didn't know you had this kind of class.
- [Jim.]
You kidding, I told you I was a blue water man.
- [Stacy.]
I thought you were a two beer man? - [Jim.]
Hey sailing, it's the same thing.
- Who owns this boat? - [Stacy.]
Who cares, it'll do.
- Hey, not that boat, this boat.
(whimsical music) (dramatic music)
